Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .

What you get:

  • + A friend in Moscow.

For the first time Rosatom Fuel Division supplied fresh nuclear fuel to the world’s only floating nuclear cogeneration plant in the Arctic

The fuel was supplied to the northernmost town of Russia along the Northern Sea Route.

gta am tour 2023

The first in the history of the power plant refueling, that is, the replacement of spent nuclear fuel with fresh one, is planned to begin before 2024. The manufacturer of nuclear fuel for all Russian nuclear icebreakers, as well as the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, is Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC), a company of Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL that is based in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactors of the icebreaking type. Unlike convenient ground-based large reactors (that require partial replacement of fuel rods once every 12-18 months), in the case of these reactors, the refueling takes place once every few years and includes unloading of the entire reactor core and loading of fresh fuel into the reactor.

The cores of KLT-40 reactors of the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit have a number of advantages compared to the reference ones: a cassette core was used for the first time in the history of the unit, which made it possible to increase the fuel energy resource to 3-3.5 years between refuelings, and also reduce the fuel component of the electricity cost by one and a half times. The FNPP operating experience formed the basis for the designs of reactors for nuclear icebreakers of the newest series 22220. Three such icebreakers have been launched by now.

For the first time the power units of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant were connected to the grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020. The supply of nuclear fuel from Elektrostal to Pevek and its loading into the second reactor is planned for 2024. The total power of the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, supplied to the coastal grid of Pevek without thermal energy consumption on shore, is about 76 MW, being about 44 MW in the maximum thermal power supply mode. The FNPP generated 194 million kWh according to the results of 2023. The population of Pevek is just a little more than 4 thousand, while the FNPP has a potential for supplying electricity to a city with a population of up to 100 thousand people. After the FNPP commissioning two goals were achieved. These include first of all the replacement of the retiring capacities of the Bilibino NPP, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya TPP, which has already been operating for more than 70 years. Secondly, energy is supplied to the main mining companies in western Chukotka in the Chaun-Bilibino energy hub a large ore and metal cluster, including gold mining companies and projects related to the development of the Baimsk ore zone. In September 2023, a 110 kilovolt power transmission line with a length of 490 kilometers was put into operation, connecting the towns of Pevek and Bilibino. The line increased the reliability of energy supply from the FNPP to both Bilibino consumers and mining companies, the largest of which is the Baimsky GOK. The comprehensive development of the Russian Arctic is a national strategic priority. To increase the NSR traffic is of paramount importance for accomplishment of the tasks set in the field of cargo shipping. This logistics corridor is being developed due regular freight voyages, construction of new nuclear-powered icebreakers and modernization of the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom companies are actively involved in this work. Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL (Rosatom Fuel Division) includes companies fabricating nuclear fuel, converting and enriching uranium, manufacturing gas centrifuges, conducting researches and producing designs. As the only nuclear fuel supplier to Russian NPPs, TVEL supplies fuel for a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, for research reactors in nine countries, as well as for propulsion reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world runs on TVEL fuel. Rosatom Fuel Division is the world’s largest producer of enriched uranium and the leader on the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. TVEL also includes Rosatom integrators for additive technologies and electricity storage systems. Rosenergoatom, Joint-Stock Company is part of Rosatom Electric Power Division and one of the largest companies in the industry acting as an operator of nuclear power plants. It includes, as its branches, 11 operating NPPs, including the FNPP, the Scientific and Technical Center for Emergency Operations at NPPs, Design and Engineering as well as Technological companies. In total, 37 power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW are in operation at 11 nuclear power plants in Russia. Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC, Elektrostal) is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fuel for nuclear power plants. The company produces fuel assemblies for VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, BN-600,800, VK-50, EGP-6; powders and fuel pellets intended for supply to foreign customers. It also produces nuclear fuel for research reactors. The plant belongs to the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom.

Tour players who have played at least five (5) Tour rounds in the current season may participate in The Tour Championship and are eligible for Order of Merit Points and event prizing.  Majors count as two rounds. If a player does not have five rounds, he/she may still play in The  Tour Championship, in the Recreational Flight.

See Prizing  section of the website

The GTA AM Tour also features a season long Order of Merit competition in which points are awarded to every player, based on the order of finish in each event (see chart below). Overall Champions in each Flight will be announced after the Tour Championship and will be based on the player's BEST 10 EVENTS prior to the Tour Championship, PLUS any points earned at the Tour Championship.  Points awarded at the season Majors will be increased by 50% and will be doubled for the Tour Championship. In the event of a tie, Order of Merit places will be decided by the player's 11th BEST EVENT. If still tied, the player who has competed in most events will be awarded the place.

There will be a total of 12 winners for the Season Long Order of Merit.  Prizing will be awarded as follows:

Points can be transferred between gross score competition Flights (Champ, A, B and C).

All Tour players are welcome to register for and to play at The Tour Championship.  However, spots will be awarded to players, in priority, using the following criteria:

  • Players who are amongst the top seven in their respective flight OOM ranking after the final Nest at Friday Harbour tournament.  Players must be on the Notify Me List to be considered.
  • Players who have played a minimum of five (5) Tour rounds during the season on a first-come, first-serve basis. (Note: Participation in both rounds of a 2-day major counts as two (2) rounds).
  • Any remaining available spots will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.   Note: There will not be a recreational flight at the Tour Championship.

Subject to the course, per Flight yardages will be as follows (please refer to the event page to view the yardage for each specific course):

*at Ladies Golf Club, all Flights will play from the GTA AM Tour Blue tees (6,000 yds)

There are three ways women can compete on Tour:

  • Women can play in one of the  competitive Flights (CH, A, B, or C). In order to compete in one of these Flights, six strokes will be added to a woman's Handicap Index to have them play in the correct Flight and from the correct yardages.
  • Women can play in the Open Net Stableford Flight
  • Women can play for fun in the Recreational Flight

The Open Net Stableford Flight is for players with a Handicap Factor between 25.9 and under. All Open Net Stableford Flight players will play from the B Flight tees, in the range of 6,000-6,400 yards and will tee off following the A Flight. Players competing in the Open Net Stableford Flight will do so in a Net Stableford format.  This point system sees players receiving one point for a net bogey, two points for a net par, three points for a net birdie, four points for a net eagle and five points for a net double eagle.  The player with the highest points accumulation will win the event. Ties will be resolved as per The Tour's card matching protocol on a net score basis

You can find many of the rules explained on the Tour Resources page.

Yes, all players need to have an up-to-date, verified Golf Canada index in order to be flighted appropriately. If you do not already have an index, contact The Tour and inquire about joining the Tours Handicap Club (which, by the way, is just the same as joining the Golf Ontario Public Players' Program).

As part of The GTA AM Tour's mandate to provide a fair and equitable playing field for all players, we regularly conduct reviews of the handicap indexes of our players. This measure, as well as multiple opportunities for peer review on our website, is an important part of what makes The Tour an equitable and special place to compete.

The preferred method to obtain an official Handicap Index is for players to join through Golf Canada at the following link: https://ecomm.golfcanada.ca/home . Once registered, players must contact Patricia Bandurka ([email protected]) to be added to the GTAAT club roster as a multi-member.

Once you have a profile, you can begin posting scores.  Sign into your account to post scores as hole-by-hole.  At least three acceptable scores are required before a Handicap Index can be computed.

When scores are posted as hole-by-hole, ESC is automatically calculated. ESC is the downward adjustment of individual hole scores for handicap purposes. This process is in effect to make handicaps more representative of a player’s potential ability.  ESC sets a maximum number that a player can post on any hole. The maximum score a player can post on any hole is net double bogey.

The minimum number of scores that need to be posted to calculate a Handicap Index is three.  Remember: these scores must be from clubs that have official Course and Slope Ratings.

A Handicap Differential is the difference between a player’s adjusted gross score and the Course Rating of the course on which the score was made.  The Handicap Differential is calculated using the following formula: [(Adjusted Gross Score – Course Rating) x 113] / Slope Rating The result of the formula is then rounded to the nearest tenth (one decimal place)

Course Rating is an evaluation of the playing difficulty of a course for a scratch golfer. This evaluation is based on normal course and weather conditions, playing distance and other obstacles to the extent that they affect the scoring ability of a scratch golfer.

Slope Rating indicates the measurement of relative difficulty of a course for players who are not scratch golfers compared to the Course Rating.  Slope Rating is computed from the difference between the Bogey Rating (playing difficulty for the bogey golfer) and Course Rating.

Fair handicapping depends upon full and accurate information regarding a player’s potential scoring ability as reflected by a complete scoring record.  Every player must be responsible for posting ALL acceptable scores, on the day the round was played, as outlined below. Please note that the Tour will automatically post all rounds from Tour events to your record.

  • All scores where at least nine holes have been played under The Rules of Golf on courses with a Course and Slope Rating.
  • Scores from both match play and stroke play must be posted for handicap purposes.
  • A player who is disqualified from a competition, but has an acceptable score, must still record an ESC adjusted score for handicap purposes.

When a hole is started but not finished (including conceded strokes), the player must record for handicap purposes the most likely score. The most likely score consists of the number of strokes already taken plus, in a player’s best judgment, the number of strokes that it would take to complete the hole from that position more than half the time. When recording this score, the number should be preceded by an “X” (ex. X-4).

Please note: These adjusted hole scores may not exceed the player’s Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) limit (as defined in Section 4-3 of the Golf Canada Handicap Manual.

When between 10 and 17 holes are played, the player must indicate which hole(s) were not played. The system will automatically produce an 18-hole score based on the Score Differential of the holes that were played.

When a player posts a 9-hole score, the system will automatically calculate an 18-hole Score Differential for the round. This will be based on the player's 9-hole Score Differential and expected Score Differential based on their current Handicap Index.

The GTA Am Tour requires that all players use the hole-by-hole method of posting scores, on the day the round was played, as this method facilitates superior peer review - an important aspect of the Tour. This method automatically calculates Equitable Stroke Control (ESC).

CURRENT:  Players must post scores from ALL rounds played (nine or eighteen holes, including match play), ALL competitive events (other than GTA AM Tour events) and ALL other rounds. Scores MUST be entered as soon as possible after a round is completed and must be entered on the date the round was played. All scores must be accurately entered prior to any GTA Am Tour event.

ACCURATE:  All scores entered must be from the slope and rating for the correct set of tee blocks played. All Tournament Scores must be entered as Tournament Scores. All scores must be entered utilizing Equitable Stroke Control or ESC. The required method of posting scores is the Hole by Hole Method which automatically calculates ESC.

The active season in Ontario is from April 15th – October 31st. Active seasons for other provinces/states may be different. Players should pay particular attention to the requirement to post rounds, if they play in the winter in a jurisdiction with an active season during the time the round is played.

Please contact the Tour’s Handicap Committee Chair .

On the Golf Canada website, you are only able to post scores from rounds played on a course with a Course and Slope Rating (or equivalent if rounds are played internationally) however, the Tour has implemented a policy so that we can address this situation, based on the length of course played. Effective playing length is the prime factor in the calculation of course rating.  To facilitate the most equitable input of scores, the Tour will calculate course and slope rating, using a formula that is based on a numerical analysis and graphing of a number of courses of varying lengths. If you play a course that is not registered with Golf Canada, and therefore does not have a valid course slope and rating, please email Matt MacKay ( [email protected] ) either a photograph of your scorecard, including yardage played, or a scanned/emailed version of your hole by hole score. It is the responsibility of each player to notify The Tour of these rounds.

Please visit the Contact  section of the website and you may direct your inquiry to the appropriate Tour Team member.  For general inquiries, please email [email protected]
