Hot Springs Express Itinerary

Less than 90 minutes  from Melbourne  CBD, the award-winning Peninsula Hot Springs lies a retreat like no other. When you’ve seen all the city highlights and indulged your inner foodie, travel a little further to enjoy the pampered Victorian life. Get away from the busy city and escape to a bit of paradise to unwind, recharge, and find your happy place.

70 Bathing Experiences

Upon arrival, enjoy three hours of bathing until your heart’s content. There are over 70 bathing experiences to explore within the Bath House, from the famous Hill Top pool to the individual baby barrels. Try all the thermal mineral pools nestled amongst the native garden landscape, enjoy the refreshing reflexology walk and awaken your senses with a cold plunge. Bathe in the spacious 7-pool amphitheatre , or discover your sauna preference in the fire and ice area.

When feeling peckish, head to the café for a delicious and healthy bite to compliment your day; choose from a wide selection of pizza or light meals, refreshing drinks, and smoothies. If you prefer to bring your meals, enjoy the outdoors more at one of the open picnic spots.

Choose our Morning tour  to suit your itinerary and spend time exploring the baths instead of scrolling on your phone. If you’re looking for some evening entertainment while you bathe, the twilight tour will cover you with occasional music and events for theatergoers.

Alternatively, opt for our transport-only option if you would like to experience the more tranquil adults-only (16+) bathhouse. Curate your unforgettable day directly at the Spa Dreaming Centre with Peninsula Hot Springs. Organize massages, facials, and private bathing in advance.

After you’re thoroughly relaxed and rejuvenated, we’ll meet and travel back to the city.

If you’ve any questions about the Peninsula Hot Springs , contact our excellent team, who would be happy to answer them. You can call us or use our  contact form.  When you’re ready to book, select the “Book Now” button and choose your preferred Morning or Twilight express  tour  (with Bath House entrance included) or Transport Only option.

Still Unconvinced? Let us remind you that bathing…

…elevates your mood – feeling sluggish, rundown, or stressed? Want to spoil someone or want a pick-me-up? We will support you. Hit the water and feel the immediate effects of being submerged. Wash away negative energy and feelings of depression and anxiety as the water naturally evokes a sense of comfort. Like the feeling of a sincere hug, there’s a science that out-approves the benefits, or you can try it.

…can help get a good night’s rest – fight off jetlag faster and head for the pools. Boost melatonin (the sleeping hormone) by bathing in hot and cold pools.

…can relieve muscle pain – get that blood flow circulating with geothermal mineral water to help sore or tight muscles relax and strengthen a healthy heart.

…facilitates some quality time and catchups – enjoy the Bath House with your friends and family or make new ones on board the bus. Social connections are essential for overall health so get chatting at a reasonable volume.

Minimal effort is required to add some exhilaration to your day. Board the bus, bathe and leave positively glowing.

Alba Thermal Springs and Spa

Alba Thermal Springs and Spa

  • Health and beauty

Heaven really is a place on Earth – and you’ll find it at this world-class wellness oasis on the Mornington Peninsula.  Alba Thermal Springs is a sustainable, $90 million sanctuary that boasts a collection geothermal pools within its perfectly manicured 15-hectare grounds. This relaxation destination has been meticulously curated to evoke calm and tranquility from the moment you enter through its curved, concrete entranceway complete with a moat-like water feature. There are 31 pools dotted among the undulating landscape – some intimate and private, others large and more social – and they range from geothermal pools and cold plunge pools to herbal-infused botanical pools and invigorating rain pools.

Best for:  a bougie day out with the gals. With fluffy robes aplenty, an Insta-worthy circular staircase and pool-side sun lounges, Alba is giving 'when the girls' trip makes it out of the group chat' vibes.

Peninsula Hot Springs

Peninsula Hot Springs

Peninsula Hot Springs is Victoria’s first geothermal mineral springs and day spa. It’s here you’ll find more than 70 bathing experiences, including shared thermal mineral pools, wet and dry saunas, a hydrotherapy pool, Turkish and Moroccan hammams and the frequently Instagrammed hilltop pool, which boasts 360-degree views over the farmlands of Fingal. If you’re brave, you can also try swapping between the 60-degree hot sauna and the ice cave, which sits at a cool -17 degrees. Feeling like a midnight soak? The hot springs also offers moonlight bathing from 10pm-2am every Friday and Saturday night.

Best for:  taking the family. There's nothing stuffy about the Peninsula Hot Springs, and with so many different bathing experiences to explore, you don't need to worry about anyone shushing your littlies.

Metung Hot Springs

Metung Hot Springs

Metung Hot Springs is the perfect spot to relax, refresh and rejuvenate.  Located in Metung overlooking the Gippsland Lakes, t he secluded, tranquil site was chosen for its natural warmth, breathtaking vistas and, of course, close proximity to geothermal waters. It is divided into two separate areas: the bathing valley and hilltop escarpment. The former boasts seven pools of varying depths, massaging geothermal showers, relaxation lounges and a reflexology walk, while the latter (which is reserved for guests aged 16 years and older) offers a cold plunge tub, stargazing pool and individual bathing barrels.

Best for:  the spectacular views. Nab one of the barrel baths and then sit back and soak up the sights.

Aurora Spa and Bathhouse

Aurora Spa and Bathhouse

In case you missed it, the Continental Sorrento (aka ‘the Conti’) recently underwent a multi-million dollar redevelopment, and now, the final element of this luxurious refurb is complete: a state-of-the-art spa, thermal bathhouse and wellness hub. T he Aurora Spa and Bathhouse is i nspired by the healing powers of water and ancient European water therapies. Inside this soothing and serene oasis – which covers 1,000 square metres and fits 60 guests at a time – you’ll find four interconnecting hydrotherapy pools, an aromatherapy steam room, a halotherapy suite (which offers salt treatments), sensory showers and a glacial mist chamber. And then there’s the pièce de résistance : a timber-lined Nordic sauna – one of the largest in the southern hemisphere.

Best for:  an all-weather bathing experience. Its subterranean surrounds mean you won't ever have to worry about what conditions are like outside.

Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa

Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa

  • Hepburn Springs

Fun fact: 80 per cent of the country’s mineral springs are in the Daylesford region, which makes it perfect for spa treatments. You’re here to relax, so begin your getaway by visiting arguably the most famous spa in the region, Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa. Here you can enjoy a massage or simply slip into the warm mineral waters of the communal bathhouse and feel your body begin to unwind. For something even closer to nature, have a soak in the outdoor creekside spa. Aching muscles? The mineral salts of the circular mineral bath under a giant skylight is the ticket to relaxation.

Best for:  a traditional wellness experience. This is Victoria's OG hot springs and for good reason – it's got everything you could need for a good soak sesh.

Deep Blue Bath House and Day Spa

Deep Blue Bath House and Day Spa

  • Warrnambool

Southwest Victoria is also home to some geothermal mineral springs thanks to an ancient water source called the Dilwyn Aquifer. The water passes through 850 metres of prehistoric rock and earth layers to reach the surface at Deep Blue Hotel and Hot Springs in Warrnambool.  This open-air sanctuary sends you on a curated yet self-guided journey through rock pools, caves and cleansing waterfall.  There’s even a special foot spa with heated seating and bubbling jets.

Best for:  a twilight session. This adults-only experience allows you to unwind as the sun sets, with the pools illuminated using coloured therapy lights.

Sense of Self

Sense of Self

  • Collingwood

Officially opening its bathhouse and massage and mindfulness studio in March 2021, Sense Of Self is offering a modern approach to self care in Melbourne’s north.  Sense Of Self used to be a warehouse so it’s split over two levels. On the first floor is home to the massage and mindfulness studio where remedial, relaxation and pregnancy massages can be booked, as well as dry body brushing, Gua Sha facials and more.  Then there’s the bathhouse itself. Lower yourself into the mineral-rich, 39-degree water, listen to the sound of the waterfall, close your eyes and let the relaxation take over. Prices for bathing start at $49 for two hours.

Japanese Mountain Retreat

Hidden between the trees and the mountains in the Dandenong Ranges (and only 45 minutes from Melbourne) is the Japanese Mountain Retreat. If you’re loved up, this is the place to go. The retreat caters very well to couples, offering getaway packages for those wishing to celebrate special milestones or occasions. The natural mineral waters at the Japanese Mountain Retreat are heated between 37 and 40 degrees, and you can choose to bathe privately in private outdoor pools or in the Roman bathhouse. If you want complete privacy while you soak, this Montrose property might be for you. Swimwear is optional in each of the three bathing pools: traditional Japanese cedar hot tub in a Japanese garden, Japanese rock pool in a Japanese garden, and tropical garden pool. This one's on the pricey side, as bathing starts at $130 per person for 50 minutes - but can you really put a price on bathing in the nude en plein air? There is also accommodation, and spa treatments are available on site, so if you want extra brownie points with your partner, book a package deal.

Japanese Bathhouse

Japanese Bathhouse

Wile away aches and cares at the Japanese Bathhouse in Collingwood. Open since 1999, it had a thorough refurb in 2015. Get unrobed and get soaking – the Japanese Bathhouse supplies everything from hair gel and combs to robes and body scrubbers. Ladies and gents have their own bathing area, and the max of ten people per bathing area means that things don't get weird. Just $34 gets you an hour-long soak and sauna.
