For lunch we offer the option of a packed lunch on safari or a cooked 3 course lunch back at the camp, depending on your plans for the day. Glamping tents come in a remarkable variety and it can be hard to narrow down the options. We recommend you consider the tent's shape, size, materials (construction), and ease of setup, among other factors.

• Shape: The original, most popular, and our personal favorite style of glamping tent is bell-shaped. But other styles, such as safari (A-frame), wall (higher walls than a safari), dome-shaped, and oversized traditional camping tents are plentiful. A bell-shaped tent is more aerodynamic than a safari tent, but safari tents have more livable and less wasted space, and traditional camping tents are shaped however you choose.
• Size: Glamping tents range in size from a 6x6-foot square (traditional camping tent) to a 16-foot diameter circle (a large bell tent). Most are big enough to fit a few twin-sized mattresses, at minimum. Unlike most tents, glamping tents aren't usually labeled by the number of people they can sleep, because the point is to spread out with luxuries — not to cram as many people in as possible. For reference, during my annual week-long Colorado hunting trip in October, a 13-foot bell tent would be the just-right amount of space for three adults with sleeping cots , lots of gear , a wood-burning stove , and a seating area in the center.
• Materials (Construction): The classic glamping tent is made with cotton canvas, steel poles, a PVC floor, and heavy-duty guy lines. These are the most durable and they can be adapted to accept a wood-burning stove, but they are also heavy and bulky. A traditional oversized camping tent is made from waterproof nylon and polyester, which is lighter and more breathable, yet much less durable.
• Ease of Setup: Most large, canvas glamping tents require two people to set up correctly. Some have a simple design with a center pole, while large, safari-style (outfitter) tents have a number of corner poles, which makes setup more involved. Traditional-style camping tents have a design that is easier to set up and can be managed with one person in a pinch.

How We Chose

We've been camping since we could walk, so we've slept in an impressive array of tents. This means we fully understand the pros and cons of every feature a tent could possibly have.

To help you decide on a luxurious tent for your glamping future, we combined our countless years of camping experience and knowledge with hours of research on new releases, unique features, and surveys of user reviews. We considered shape, size, materials and construction, ease of setup, price, and packability, among other build features. There's something for every glamper — from knock-out luxury to affordable glam — so there's something for every type of outdoorsperson.

Pick up one of our favorite glamping tents, fill it with your favorite home-away-from-home comforts — think air mattress , comfy bedding , portable heater , and some mood lighting — and enjoy a night in the great outdoors without giving up your favorite luxuries. Outdoor newbies, there's zero shame in your #glamping game. What better time than now?

If you love canvas tents with the rounded floor plan (who doesn't?) but can't splurge for a top-of-the-line Lotus Belle , this Whiteduck tent is for you. It has an average of 4.7 stars from over 100 Amazon reviews.

The cotton canvas material is heavy and waterproof, the stove jack is ready to fire up a wood-burning stove , and the polyvinyl zipped-in groundsheet is plenty durable and easy to keep clean, so your living quarters will stay cool, dry, and tidy in all four seasons — yes, even winter, if you dare.

Whether you pick the 10-foot, 13-foot, or 16-foot option, this tent will turn into your own private luxury boudoir. Setup is possible with one person, but not recommended.

This 13-foot tent is what I use on hunting trips, with ample space for three adults, cots, a stove, a few end tables, tons of gear, and a foyer for muddy shoes. It's so dang spacious and comfortable that you might, for once, reach the 14-day limit on camping effective in most national forests.

Grab your glamping martini glass and settle in for a while. If this tent seems like something out of a fairytale, that's because it practically is. This 16-foot bell-shaped tent actually measures 18 feet at its widest point. It's big enough to fit six (yes, six) twin-sized mattresses, or for six people to practice yoga comfortably.

This deluxe tent is made from a heavy-duty cotton canvas that is fire- and water-resistant, plus a heavy PVC bathtub-style groundsheet to keep heat in and bugs out. It has two mesh windows and two roof vents to maximize airflow, an oversized zip-up front door that is wide enough for a queen-sized bed to fit through, and plenty of exterior tie-downs to keep things secure if the wind picks up.

Setup is quite involved and will definitely require two people (at least), but you'll never be using this tent alone, anyway. This Lotus Belle is the definition of a glamping tent, and it really sets the bar high, with so much comfort that you might never want to go home.

This option isn't nearly as fancy as some of the other tents in this review, but there's a solid chance that it's bigger than your first New York apartment. With 283 square feet of floor space, this tent can be divided into four separate rooms, each with its own dedicated purpose — one for Mom and Dad, one for the boys, one for the girls, and one for lounging (if the weather is crummy). And three separate entrances offer much-needed privacy or a way to keep from stepping on your friend when you get up in the middle of the night.

This tent's body, floor, and rainfly are made of waterproof polyester. There are 12 fiberglass poles (to reduce weight) and 8 steel poles, so setup will definitely take you some time, practice, and at least one accomplice. There are tons of windows that can be opened for airflow or closed for warmth. But with so many windows, so much space, and a rainfly with less-than-full coverage, we wouldn't recommend this tent for cold-weather excursions.

This behemoth claims to hold 20 people, but we wouldn't recommend ever trying to cram that many humans into such small quarters. But if you have a large family or have teenagers, personal space is a must-have, and this tent could solve (some of) your problems.

Similar to the classic military canvas pup tent but with a few modern twists for added comfort, this safari tent is a pure glamping hideaway. Its cotton canvas is breathable, waterproof, and ready to brave the storm, the sewn-in PVC groundsheet provides a nice barrier to bugs and dirt, and four doors (two front, two back) with integrated mesh windows let in the cross breeze to keep you cool at night.

This tent gets its structure from a plethora of guylines and three spring-tensioned steel poles — one at each entrance, one in the center. It measures 13x11.4 feet, which is ample space for four large cots and gear. Setup is definitely a two-person job, but it's a rather intuitive job that won't require practice or instructions.

This A-frame tent is not sold with a stove jack, but one can be purchased separately and installed easily — a feature that Canvas Camp says improves customization because not all stoves are one size fits all. At such an affordable price, this is a shoo-in for a new fan favorite at campsites across the country.

Everything about Nemo’s Wagontop is well-planned to keep a large group of family or friends happy. Get up, stretch out, and do a little dance — this tent has standing-height ceilings (80-inch peak height) that you'll love when it comes time to get dressed, and tons of floor space (12x9 feet) for the whole family.

Setup is a breeze and can easily be managed by one person, thanks to a single-wall construction (no separate rainfly) and just four poles that erect the frame in the blink of an eye.

Each of its four walls has a large screen window for better airflow and more of a “homey” feeling. Two doors give you options for coming and going. The front vestibule, which resembles a foyer, keeps weather out and makes a great place for gear storage, but can be removed easily when the skies are clear for better views.

When compared to other canvas glamping tents, the Wagontop does not have the same heavy-duty construction or stove compatibility. It does, however, have a much smaller footprint, weighs much less, packs down smaller, sets up way easier, and is more aerodynamic should the winds start whipping.

If you're dead set on a canvas glamping tent, this one is not as burly or full-featured as the Whiteduck bell tent above, but you can't deny the price difference. This base model has a 13-foot diameter, and bigger sizes are available.

This entry-level, 100% cotton canvas glamping tent is super breathable and water-repellent, making it the perfect home for your warm-weather outdoor adventure. Even with the center pole, it can fit one queen-sized bed and two twin-sized beds comfortably. When the sun is really cooking, you can really air out this tent — unzip the floor from the side walls, roll up the sides, open the windows and built-in vents, and you'll have excellent airflow under your canopy. It's the perfect multiuse solution for family camping. Setup is relatively simple for a glamping tent — just stand up the center pole, stake out the floor, stand up the door pole, stake out the guy lines, and voilà — your (budget-friendly) kingdom awaits.

Wall tents have vertical walls (hence the name), which means they have much more livable space than a dome or bell-shaped tent. This wall tent is available in multiple sizes, ranging from 8x10 feet to 16x20 feet.

It's made from a stout cotton canvas, has a sturdy aluminum frame and rafters, powder-coated steel brackets, a durable sewn-in PVC floor, military-grade zippers, and large mesh windows with storm flaps, which makes this tent feel more like a temporary dwelling than a camping tent.

The base model of this wall tent is water-resistant and can handle small portable heaters for four-season use. But if you really want to maximize comfort, splurge for the heat-resistant option with a stove jack and flap, plus fabrics that are treated for fire resistance.

Setup is quite the undertaking — it will take two, preferably three adults to erect this beast. But the comfort and homeyness are well worth the time it takes for setup. Now all you need is to split some logs, and you're well on your way to calling the woods your new place of residence.

Live in the lap of luxury on a National Park road trip with Big Agnes’ Bunk House. It’s much smaller than many glamping tents, but it’s a plenty-spacious (92x90 inches) car camping tent that won’t fill up your entire trunk. It’s aimed at people who really want to stand while changing in the tent, with vertical sidewalls and a gracious 70-inch peak height that mom and dad will appreciate when changing the baby.

The Bunk House is one of the more storm-resistant standup tents around, thanks to sturdy aluminum poles, adjustable guylines, a double-wall construction, a full rainfly, and a bathtub-style waterproof floor to keep the elements out. Setup is much simpler than bigger, heavier glamping tents, and can easily be done by one person.

Thoughtful details like eight total interior pockets, a fold-out welcome mat, and a pole-supported accessory vestibule make the $500 cost seem like a small price to pay for a lifetime of memories on the road.

• The Safari tents are designed around a box-section galvanised steel frame which is cleverly hidden throughout the tents. We have a full Structural Engineers Report for BS codes and wind loads.
• The PVC roof and canvas walls are all heavy weight high-grade fabrics and ALL materials used in the construction of our safari tents meet BS fire retardant codes. See Technical Specifications
• Using heavy duty side-zips the front gables on all safari tents can be fully rolled up to open the entire tent front for your guests.
• All windows are fixed and have a canvas roll-up privacy blind as standard but can be upgraded to opening windows – this includes fixed insect mesh, roll-up clear PVC on the exterior and roll-up canvas privacy blind on the inside.
• Front porches at 2.25m are standard. With an option to add a 2.25m rear porch, ideal for housing the bathroom cabins.
• Roof linings (4oz ivory polyester) create a bright airy interior, are included in the base price and are fully detachable and washable.

Proven performance frames

We have worked closely with Structural Engineers to design a range of Safari Tents with excellent proven performance and offer advanced wind-load ratings to cope with our changeable weather. The Safari tents are rated to meet several relevant British Standard and European structural codes.

In addition Bond can also offer premium upgraded Safari Tents in all sizes which, in accordance with the Structural Engineers report offer additional performance for ‘Permanent Use Site-specific’ wind speeds.

We can in fact provide a recommendation based on UK postcodes to determine site-specific permanent use wind speeds at customers locations in conjunction with our Structural Engineers.

We believe it is essential for our clients to create a unique experience for their guests in order to access the high-end luxury glamping market.

To that effect we do not offer interior furniture packages but instead encourage our clients to add their own style to their safari tents thereby creating a individual look which will give your location a strong visual identity. This will boost your marketing efforts and brand image and most importantly give your guests that exclusive experience they are looking for. Glamping should feel special, luxurious and most importantly unique.

I went on a budget and a luxury safari in Africa. Here's how they compare — and the one thing you really need to look for when booking.

• I have been on two glamping safari trips in Africa on two very different budgets.
• My all-inclusive stay was great but my cheaper glamping experience was fine, too. 
• Private game reserves are actually the most important thing to splurge on, not accommodations. 

I've been on two African safari trips . Both involved glamping but on completely different budgets.

My first more affordable trip, a lodge in South Africa with separate safari excursions, cost me about $1,100. My second, an all-inclusive lodge in Tanzania, cost me about $4,000 after a 50% off deal.

Here's how the two compare and what I think you should look for before you plan an African safari .

My affordable safari experience was at Jackalberry Ridge, where some tents cost $80 a night.

The first time I went on a safari, I went to Kruger National Park in South Africa. I didn't book a tour package, instead opting to stay at affordable lodging and book safari day trips to the park.

I stayed five nights near Kruger and one night in Johannesburg before my flight home. I spent around $1,100 for lodging, safari tours, a rental car, and food (not including flights).

After landing in Johannesburg, I rented a car ($130 for five days) to drive to my lodging in Marloth Park, a town bordering the edge of Kruger National Park.

I was staying at Jackalberry Ridge , a self-catering accommodation with no on-site restaurant, no room service, and limited housekeeping.

The one-bedroom tents at Jackalberry Ridge go for as low as $80 a night, and two-bedroom tents go for $135.

When I checked in late, there was no one at the reception desk — just an envelope with my name on it containing my keys and a map.

My main tent felt pretty spacious, with a king bed and a living-room area.

I had booked a two-bedroom unit (two tents), but my friend couldn't come at the last minute. Since I couldn't change the reservation, I still stayed in the two-bedroom unit and my friend paid her share.

The campsite came with a small pool to dip in, but it was covered as the weather was pretty cold.

Each unit had a private bathroom and kitchen in a building separate from the tents, so I needed to leave my tent to use the bathroom at night.

The bathroom was standard, with a tub, shower, and toilet.

This is glamping, so I had access to running water and a flushing toilet. I had hot water, but I found it went from scalding hot to cold in a few seconds.

I ended up taking quick showers and just washing my hair with cold water, which wasn't ideal since it was a little chilly in the morning.

It's also worth noting that Jackalberry Ridge was renovated recently, so the issue I had with hot water may have been fixed now.

I also had access to a kitchen in the same building as the bathroom.

The kitchen was well-equipped with things like pots, a microwave, and a sink, so I could cook meals or heat up leftovers.

I signed up for a couple of day safaris and did one at night.

Although I had a rental car and could've done a self-drive safari around Kruger, I didn't trust myself to spot animals while focusing on the roads.

Instead, I signed up for a couple of day safaris and one night safari. The safari tour prices often don't include the park entrance fee (about $25 per person per day), which I paid when I got to the entrance.

My three safari trips and park fees came to around $280.

I got to see zebras, giraffes, and more.

I saw a lot on the safari, including zebras, impalas, kudus, and giraffes. I saw lions and a leopard, although only from afar with binoculars. I even got a glimpse of the elusive rhinoceros.

I also spent one day taking another popular day trip in the area, the Panorama Route. This scenic road goes past Lisbon Falls and the beautiful Blyde River Canyon. The guided tour was $110.

As far as my very first safari trip goes, it was great. I got to see the Big Five , even though some of them were pretty far away.

For my next safari trip, I leveled up.

I saw a Travelzoo deal for an all-inclusive safari at Taasa Lodge , a five-star luxury safari in Tanzania.

The deal was $6,000 for two people for a whole week — the lodge is usually $12,950 for two for seven nights. It was still a splurge, but I'd be saving more than 50% on a bucket-list experience.

The package came with seven nights of lodging, two safari activities a day, three daily meals, and drinks.

Still, we spent more than the original advertised price. There are obligatory "daily government park fees" and "daily concession fees" that added about $893 per person to our bill.

We also had to take a regional flight to get to Taasa, which was more expensive than my rental car in South Africa.

To redeem the Travelzoo deal, we had to complete our booking through a specific travel agency.

We ended up opting for an all-inclusive add-on package which includes the $893 fees above, domestic airfares from Arusha to Taasa (which would already cost around $600), and our agency arranging our Tanzanian tourist visa and airport transfers. The add-on also included extra activities at the resort (more on that later).

Overall, we paid $1,715 per person on top of the $3,000 each for the lodge stay.

I hadn't anticipated paying so many extras, but it was nice to have someone take care of the logistics of getting to the resort.

My tent was luxurious and equipped with a comfortable king bed and a large living room.

When I arrived at the lodge, the staff greeted me with a glass of juice and a wet towel to refresh myself.

My tent was quite spacious. I especially liked that it had a desk and plenty of outlets I could use to charge my electronics. Our bathroom was behind our bed, and I was glad it was inside the tent this time.

We also got a butler who kept track of our schedules and made sure we had what we needed.

The bathroom felt spacious, with two sinks and a shower.

The shower's hot water was great and we had double sinks we could get ready at.

Another perk of the lodge is that we could have staff do our laundry every day, which meant we could pack less clothing.

There's a main lodge with a communal living room, dining area, and bar.

We got breakfast at the buffet in the main lodge unless we were going on a morning safari.

Most people ate dinner in the dining room, but we could've requested to have food brought to our tent.

We also passed a small pool next to the main lodge.

The pool was on the small side, but certainly had great views.

I didn't end up using it as my afternoons were filled with safari, and the mornings and evenings were chilly.

On the mornings with an early safari, we had a simple breakfast next to our Land Cruiser.

Safari breakfasts consisted of hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, doughnuts, bacon and sausage, fruits, and orange juice. Staff also made French-press coffee, which we could spike with cream liqueur.

Our Land Cruiser had a cooler of beers and sodas in the back, too.

At the private game reserve, we got pretty close to wildlife.

Taasa is located inside a private game reserve, which means staff can pretty much drive anywhere within it. This was a huge leg up from my day trips in Kruger National Park on my last safari.

Inside national parks like Kruger or Serengeti, you're only allowed to drive on designated roads for safety reasons (both for the tourists and the animals).

But in a private reserve, guides can drive offroad. Plus, the guides communicate with each other when they find something special.

We saw a bunch of animals in the private reserve and Serengeti.

We also left the reserve to spend a couple of days going into Serengeti National Park, as there were things you could only find there instead of within the private reserve.

For example, I'd planned my trip to take place during the Great Migration, and I wanted to see wildebeests crossing the Mara River.

We also went to Serengeti to find rhinoceros and hippopotamus.

Every dinner at the resort consisted of three courses: soup, an entrée, and a dessert.

The main course was usually some type of Western food, and there was always a vegetarian option.

It would've been nice to be offered more typical Tanzanian dishes, though. For me, part of the fun of traveling is learning about different countries' cuisines.

I also had access to an open bar in the main lodge. Staff could make simple cocktails, and there was lots of beer and wine. The drinks were all included with the price of the stay (except for fancy Champagnes and select wines).

One morning, we had a special breakfast on the plains.

On one day of the trip, we had a special bush breakfast. It was one of the extra activities we got with that special add-on package.

Instead of our usual safari breakfast, we had freshly prepared omelets in the wild.

We also got another special treat in the bush that morning — a toilet!

When you're offroading looking for wild animals, you can end up pretty far from a proper toilet.

On most safari days, the car stops (when guides think it's safe), and people go behind the car to do their business.

This was the only time we had this portable toilet while out on a safari. On my budget safari day trips at Kruger, we'd have to wait until we reached a rest-stop facility.

Again, we spent a lot of time watching lions.

After breakfast, we were back in safari mode.

We found a family of lions, and as we were in the private reserve, we were able to stay and watch the cubs play for quite a while.

At Kruger, when lions are spotted, traffic starts backing up on the road as all the safari cruisers stop to look, so you can't stay too long.

Here, we knew no one else would be coming.

On a different morning, our guide got a tip that another car had found a leopard sleeping.

The communication between guides in the private reserve paid off when one spotted a sleeping leopard.

When our group arrived, the leopard was napping on the tree next to his catch. Eventually, it came down, and we got a better look.

Our trip ended with a great happy hour and outdoor dinner.

Other activities that were part of our add-on package included a visit to a Maasai village in Kenya and a special happy hour and barbecue dinner.

And, for our journey home, the travel agency took care of everything, including transfers, until we boarded our international flight.

My big takeaway is that it's really worth paying to be inside a private reserve.

In my opinion, the difference between these two safari trips that's the most worth paying for is being in a private reserve.

After all, the main reason I fly to Africa is for the safari, not the glamping.

I much preferred my lodging at Taasa, mostly because of the bathroom. But if I hadn't had the 50% off deal, I'm not sure the full price would've been worth it.

Still, it was a wonderful experience, and if I had more money, I may feel differently. Even so, the budget glamping was pretty comfortable and just fine for a week.

But again, as far as the safari experience goes, the private reserve is hard to beat. Being able to go offroading and get closer to the animals is quite the experience.

And if luxurious lodges are out of the question, private reserves can also be visited more affordably. Some lodges inside private reserves, like Shindzela or Rhino River Lodge, can cost around $250 per person per night.

From safari-style tents to private island villas and life-altering wellness retreats to splash parks and ball pits, the small Andaman island of Koh Samui in Thailand has it all when it comes to hotels. The island’s first five-star hotel opened here back in the mid-1980s, followed by a slow trickle of new openings to what exists today: Thailand’s most luxurious island, but also somewhere with hotels for virtually every type of traveler. And where there’s a beach, there’s now a palace to sleep—and drink and eat—right next to it.

Many of Samui’s most luxe places sit in the northeast corner, some with their own bays—some even on their own islands. And although it’s one of Thailand’s livelier destinations—with its bars, markets, massage parlors, and impressive restaurant scene, you will still find serene stays. It’s also the starting point for hops over to the islands of Koh Phangan and Koh Tao—but with Koh Samui hotels this good, you may not see the need to leave.

Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui Arrow

It’s the island’s priciest place to stay (just shy of $1,250 a night in the low season, and double that in high), but it is also the very best. A stay at Four Seasons Samui is like stepping into the White Lotus life—part of the reason why season three of the hit HBO series was reportedly filmed here. It’s easy to see why it was chosen—it’s serene and seriously photogenic, with 78 residences and villas cut into a steep jungly hillside (and former coconut plantation). Architect and interior designer Bill Bensley can take full credit for the stylish and luxe feel, from the jazzy artwork to the very cool Coco Rum pool bar, where striped sofas line a palm-dotted pool with sea views beyond.

Koh Thai, the open-air restaurant, has food as good as the views (handily, you don’t have to stay to eat here). It’s the same spot for breakfast, where an incredible French pastry chef prepares the most delicious matcha madeleines, vanilla brioche, and chocolate financiers—every morning is a surprise. There’s a spa, naturally, with treatments using Thai herbal products, a breezy outdoor yoga pavilion, and a small kid’s club in a treehouse. Snorkel offshore, laze on a lounger the size of a super-king bed on the beach, or sip spirits in the rum vault (one of the many drinking spots) before a lantern-lit meal on the beach.

Six Senses Samui Arrow

One of the most sustainable stays on Samui is on a sloping jungle-clad headland on the island’s northeastern tip. The bamboo walls and high thatched roofs of 66 multi-level villas (most with private pools) give the feeling of staying in a luxe treehouse.

The vibe is chic, yet fun: natural wood tones are combined with pops of color from the neon-green and sherbet-yellow cushions and loungers, and staff stroll around in millennial pink and dusty rose linen two pieces. The first is quiet (one of the island’s best and biggest infinity pools), the other buzzier and next to the beach, on a cove shared with neighboring hotels—one of the only clues that you’re on a popular island rather than a remote hideaway. Mornings start with a shot of ‘rocket fuel’ (cider vinegar and citrus) at breakfast, and there’s an excellent menu of mocktails, free ice cream, and several scenic restaurant options, where fragrant curries are served up next to sunset views (although the best views at sunset are from the spa). Little and large guests love the on-site farm, where they can pet and feed a herd of well-preened goats.

Anantara Lawana

Couples and families mingle happily together at Anantara Lawana, a resort-style hotel located close to the nightlife of Chaweng on Samui’s east coast. Sociable types should go for one of the standard bedrooms, located in the soft gray two-story Thai-style houses. For sunshine? You’ll need to head to the buzzy pool or beach, a great spot for a paddle at low tide or a proper swim at high tide, when colorful long-tail boats bob on the water just along the shore.

Those seeking quiet may prefer the private pool villas—with their tiled floors and traditional dark wooden furniture, including four poster beds, they feel very grown up. The spa is another sanctuary in the hotel, where discreet therapists deliver back-crunching bamboo massages and Ayurvedic Shirodhara therapy. Crab Shack is your sand-between-the-toes sunset cocktail spot, while Tree Tops, built in a treehouse-style wooden structure wrapped around a century-old tree, is the hotel’s romantic dining option (book early to catch the sunset here). The kids club is a hive of activity, with wooden tractors and play kitchens.

Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui

There are plenty of lovely beaches on Samui, but Tongsai Bay? This curve of golden sand, with its gently tumbling turquoise waves, feels impossible to beat—and, unless you’re willing to paddle in by kayak, it’s only accessible to Garrya guests. The hotel that opened here back in the mid-80s was the first five-star resort on the island and has been welcoming loyal guests, some of them as many as 20 times, since.

A recent rebrand to a Garrya resort has kept some of the much-loved elements of the hotel, like outdoor bathtubs, and refreshed others: high-ceilinged rooms are simple yet luxurious, with calming beige and burnt orange palette and varnished wooden floors. There’s a spa, breezy outdoor massage cabanas set inches from the waves, and three restaurants, including beachside dining at Fish Tales (don’t miss the vegan chocolate ice cream), and Evo, where much of the food is made with produce taken from the hotel’s garden. Then there are decisions to make—the half-moon adults-only pool, the curvy beach-level pool, or a spot on the beach itself.

This sprawling hotel, built across 58 hilly acres on a former coconut plantation, works hard to impress—and delivers. Kids will be overjoyed at the island’s best kids club: a huge light-filled space of ball pits, slides, and toys, with an outdoor crazy golf course and playground. For adults there’s the Spa Village, which is indeed a village—with eight standalone treatment rooms (try the pre-spa Songkran Spa Ritual) and a large barely-used adult-only pool dotted with cabanas.

The View serves up some of the island’s highest sea views alongside creative tasting menus, while Baan Talta is modeled on a Thai street food market, but there are several more options should you dine here each night. A Muay Thai boxing ring, basketball, and tennis courts are great if you get restless, while a beautiful beach of cream-colored sand and a large curvy pool if you long to just laze. There are 175 bedrooms, suites, and villas, but oceanfront pool villas have the real wow factor: outdoor decks and infinity pools, you can gaze over the edge and see nothing but turquoise water and hear nothing but the waves meeting the rocks below.

Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa Arrow

To call Kamalaya a hotel wouldn’t be doing it justice: yes, there are hotel rooms and villas dotted across this bougainvillea-draped hillside on the island’s quieter south coast, but at the heart of this sanctuary is a focus on wellness, both physical and mental. Most guests here book in on dedicated programs, whether it’s detoxes and cleanses or programs such as Embracing Change, in which you’ll spend time with Life Enhancement Mentors, unravelling past trauma with talk therapy and meditation. Treatments—many of them Ayurvedic—are all tailored to your specific issues, with acupuncture and heavenly massages. The site is built around a 300-year-old mediation cave, which you can still use today, plus there’s walking meditation, yoga, and a peaceful stretch of sand for late-afternoon siestas. Solo travelers here may like the communal dining, where everyone from opera singers to burnt out CEOs gather to knock back green juices at breakfast and feast on sugar-free curries in the evening, but you’d also feel entirely comfortable dining solo, reading a book over meals, or simply gazing out at the water.

One of Samui’s best—and most luxurious—places to bed down isn’t actually on Samui, but even better: a private island around 100 yards offshore (you’ll be whisked there and back in a small speedboat or glorified tractor depending on the tide levels). Here, you’ll find 24 villas, from Ocean Cottages to two-bed family villas, all with private pools where you can snooze to the sound of birdsong and gently lapping waves.

All other spaces are pure bliss, too: like the breakfast terrace views and the peaceful, sun-soaked adjoining room, not just because of its pretty canary yellow cushions and bamboo-style chairs, but for its spread of pastries, baked in house; or Hue restaurant, where you can gaze out past the pin-stripe loungers, pool, and palms to the shimmering sea beyond. Long Dtai, overseen by Michelin-recognized chef David Thompson, is worth a visit even if you can’t stay here: not just for the panoramic views over the turquoise Andaman, which are arguably some of the best restaurant views on the island, but for the menu: the Southern egg curry being a highlight. Despite being one of the Samui’s most expensive stays, it’s also one of the most relaxed: where retired business owners wander the same winding paths around the small island as young honeymooners .

Twenty-three contemporary villas, cut into a meticulously landscaped flower-filled slope on the north-east of the island, every one staggeringly luxurious and big on views: strictly speaking Samujana isn’t a hotel, but it operates very much like one, with added privacy and space, making it particularly popular with large groups of family and friends.

Unlike a lot of villa stays, you won’t need to lift a finger: breakfast is provided in the villa every morning, rooms are made up and turned down, and there are team members on hand to rustle up meals. It’s hard to choose the best: perhaps it’s villa 12, with its own boxing gym, basketball court, games room, and cinema room, or maybe the ludicrously photogenic villa 30, with 360-degree views and the country's best infinity pool—a serious accolade when the competition is fierce. Others, with their sun-flooded, open-plan, open-air communal areas, large pools, and calm-inducing minimalist styling are so lovely that you could happily lose a week or two here, never venturing out at all.

Kimpton Kitalay

Choeng Mon beach, with its fire shows, jet skis, and beach bars, sets the tone for Kimpton Kitalay , a buzzy hotel in Samui’s north. It’s built in the style of a fisherman’s village, with six low-rise blocks of rooms wrapped in dark wood. You can bed down in two-bed villas, but entry level rooms are large and stylish, with Victorian-style tiles, curvy freestanding bathtubs, and jazzy blue rugs.

The main pool is a sociable spot, as is the splash park and kids club, but there’s always a quieter place to escape to—especially if you opt for a swim up suite on the ‘quiet’ side, or book time in the spa. There are four restaurants and bars, and if you tire of Thai food, Fish House serves excellent steak and huge sides, plus fresh-off-the-boat fish. You may spot one or two dogs strolling the grounds: the hotel works with a local rescue dog charity, and dogs that are up for adoption visit every fortnight to meet guests.

Silavadee Resort

Young honeymooning couples and equally loved-up retirees happily mingle at Silavadee, a boutique resort built across a hillside on a quiet peninsula on the east coast of Samui. Although the entry-level rooms are pretty, with their outdoor hot tubs and airy interiors, if you’re staying here it should be an Ocean Front Pool Villa. Our pick? Number three: With its separate living room, freestanding bathtub, huge bedroom, and even bigger pool, you could happily spend your entire stay in the privacy of your villa, floating in your pool or gazing out at miles and miles of empty sea. There’s a simple spa where efficient therapists expertly deliver tension-relieving Thai massages, and the two open-air dining spots are both romantic and well-priced (the wine pairings, in particular, are generous and a steal). Lively Lamai beach is a short scooter ride away, or if that’s too taxing, you’ll find some of the best snorkeling on the island right off the hotel’s quiet curve of beach—handily, for guests, it’s a small cove that’s near impossible for anyone else on the island to access.

Travelers gather for days to months to work from their laptops, live well, and eat well at Kapuhala, a boutique hotel that has the relaxed vibe of an Airbnb . Food is central to a stay here—a small but perfect menu of Sicilian plant-based recipes (Kapuhala’s second outpost is on the Italian island), features delicious spaghetti soy ragu and light arancini, all topped with pipettes of extra virgin olive oil, with the olives plucked and pressed at their Sicily property. Breakfast, meanwhile, is a feast of fruit and freshly baked muffins and strong Italian coffee.

You can venture high up the hill in Chaweng Noi on a moped for a meal, but then you’d miss what makes this place so special: easing into your day in the open air restaurant space, with its swaying rattan lamps and hessian bean bags, getting to know the friendly team and feeling inspired by the island’s remote working views across the infinity pool and over the sea below. Choose from four simple light-filled ‘ tiny houses ’ or one of five large safari-style tents, where the sides fold up so the breeze can flow in while you gaze out.

Sunroom safari tent (E series) combines the features of Luxury Safari Tent(B Series) and New Classic Safari Tent(C series) square poles. We have designed two products, E40 and EX45 , of which E40 is a canvas as the side wall and keep the ropes, while EX45 uses Glass walls and doors, without ropes, which are more fitting for the name sunroom.

This E Series safari tent also has a large front balcony, PVC fabric top roof, and the specially selected PVC and canvas fabric with flame retardant, 100% waterproof, UV resistance, tear resistance, and self-cleaning ability.
