Island Hopping In Langkawi Speedboat

I don’t think any other tour on this list comes close to this island-hopping trip. It is the cheapest option by a considerable distance but you still go to 2 islands and get to see the eagles being fed. Transfers to the boat are even organized if you can get to one of the bus pick-up points! Genuinely the best value tour either of us has ever been on. Check out this exact tour here.

Island Hopping In Langkawi - CHEAP AND WORTH IT?

There are 3 main ways you can go island hopping in Langkawi; shared boat tour, private boat tour, and jet skiing. You probably already know which you are going to choose but we will break down the best of each type to help you make your final decision.

Langkawi Island Hopping Speedboat

This is the exact tour that Jade and I jumped on. We booked the night before as we couldn’t really believe the price and came to the conclusion that if it was terrible then we didn’t really have too much to lose.

We made our way down to Mcdonald’s near Pantai Cenang beach (we were staying nearby) but we could’ve arranged to be picked up from our hotel for around 50 cents more! Were we being cheap or do we just love exercise? You decide.

Monkey that be seen on your island hopping in langkawi tour

There are other options to be picked up from other locations on the island if you are not staying close to Pantai Cenang beach, you can see these options whilst checking availability here.

Firstly, you make your way over to Dayang Bunting island which is famous for its large freshwater lake and wild monkey population. It’s a 10-minute walk from the boat to the lake where you can swim, kayak, sunbathe, and do other activities.

You can get locker on dayam bunting lake whilst island hopping in langkawi

You have an hour on the island so bear that in mind if you are planning on doing anything other than having a swim and you may not have time.

The boat then takes you over to the eagles where your driver will throw some chicken pieces into the water and you can watch the eagles swoop down and feed. It’s a pretty majestic sight.

Finally, you will be taken over to the second island where you will have another hour to chill, swim, and drink from a chilled coconut before being taken back to the starting point.

The type of beaches you can expect on your island hopping in langkawi tour

This is an incredible 3-hour tour that will have you back for lunchtime will the rest of the day ahead of you (you can also go in the afternoon if you have plans in the morning). Considering the price, I highly recommend everyone in Langkawi does this tour. Check out availability and price here.

Key Information

  • Tour Duration: 3 Hours
  • Pickup Included: Yes (if selected)
  • Age Suitable For: All
  • Tour Pace: Medium
  • Start Time: 08:45
  • Need To Take: Swimwear!

Langkawi Island Hopping – Private Boat

This is the EXACT same tour as above but you don’t share your boat with other people, simple as that. If you have a large group then it actually works out cheaper! Or if you just simply want to relax without having to worry about other people around you then this is the option for you.

Langkawi Archipelago JET SKI Tour – 4 Hours

Are you looking for something a little more exciting?! Then maybe you should be considering an island hopping tour in Langkawi on a jet ski! The tour will start at Pantai Cenang Beach view and everyone will be provided water shoes and be given a short lesson on how to use the jet ski.

Jet Skiing on an island hopping in langkawi tour

This jet ski will then take you to 8 islands throughout the Langkawi archipelago which is the most I have encountered out of all of the tours I have seen. This includes the famous Dayang Bunting island where you will have time to swim in the freshwater lake and see the wild monkeys.

The tour will also give you time to snorkel and swim at the various stops along the way whilst finishing at a secluded beach to top off this incredible experience. If there are two of you then you can save some money by sharing a jet ski or you can choose to have one each. Check out prices, availability, and reviews here!

  • Tour Duration: 4 Hours
  • Pickup Included: No
  • Age Suitable For: 12+
  • Start Time: 9 am / 2 pm
  • Need To Take: Swimwear

Jet Ski Island Hopping – 2 Hours

If you would rather use Klook (a very popular booking platform in South East Asia) then this island hopping in Langkawi jet ski tour is perfect. It is very similar to the jet ski tour above but does not last quite as long.

Rather than 4 hours, it is 2 hours but the price reflects this with a substantially lower cost. If you choose the 1 jetski + passenger option it is literally half the price so if you are looking for a shorter similar experience and you are on a budget then look no further and check out this jet ski tour here.

  • Tour Duration: 2 Hours
  • Start Time: 8:45 am / 1:45 pm
  • Tour Pace: Fast

Southern Geoforest Private Tour

This is another, well reviewed, island hopping in Langkawi experience that visits Dayang Bunting island, the eagles, and a final stop at a beautiful remote beach. It has the added benefit of a fixed cost as it is private so the more people you have the cheaper it becomes (up to 8).

This is a great option if the top recommended tour in this post is completely full as it is essentially the same.

  • Pickup Included: Yes
  • Start Time: 3 pm

Langkawi Island Hopping Private With Transfers

This island hopping in Langkawi activity has the benefit of visiting 3 islands as well as seeing the eagles feed which is one more than the other boat tours in this post. However, the price is significantly more and I do not think that this reflects the added hour and added island well.

It is private and it is the longest island hopping in Langkawi tour on this list (in a boat) so it might be for you if you want to absolutely make the most out of your day. Check out the prices and availability here.

Where To Stay In Langkawi

The island hopping in Langkawi tours in this post tend to start at the jetty near Pantai Cenang beach. This is also one of the best places to stay on the entire island, in our opinion. I have included 3 of our favorite accommodation options below so make sure to check them out!

Bed Attitude

A brilliant hostel situated in the small beach town of Pantai Cenang. We stayed in this town during our stay and it is a fantastic option for the whole island. This is definitely THE choice on the island for hostel.

The Sanctuary

A quite spectacular villa complex where you can get a whole villa for yourself for an insanely affordable price. The complex is also situated in Pantai Cenang and has a pool, amongst other facilities.

5* Super Luxury

Four Seasons Resort

A truly breathtaking resort that is almost certainly the best place to stay in all of Langkawi. Boasting a mile-long private beach and stunning private villas, you cannot get better than this. Take a look at all of the facilities by clicking through the book now link below.

If none of our favourites are piquing your interest then make sure to check the map below for all of the accommodation options available on a specific date. Remember to put your dates in to see what’s available when you are planning on going.

Packing For Your Island Hopping In Langkawi

The following few items are things that I think every single person going island hopping in Langkawi should take with them. I have also included a list of travel essentials that I think every single traveller should have!

GoPro HERO12 Black

The Go Pro Hero 12 takes the world-renowned Go Pro formula and hits even greater heights. The best of these has to be the Emmy award-winning HyperSmooth 6.0 for incredibly stable video during your wildest of travel adventures, and the front-facing screen for easy selfie and video capture! Find out even more by clicking through!

Tummy Control Swimsuit

Looking for a stylish, flattering, complimenting swimsuit that shows off all of your best features whilst also being great for swimming and having fun? Then check out all of the incredible styles and colours these tummy control swimsuits come in.

Greatever Snorkel Set

We all know how frustrating it can be to hire snorkels from local vendors as the quality tends to be below par, or they just immediately fog up. We have chosen the Greatever snorkel set due to its affordability, face fit, and anti-fog attributes, which all combined make for an excellent addition to your luggage!

ThermoFlask Stainless Steel Bottle

If you are going for a long backpacking adventure, or you go through plastic water bottles way too quickly, then you need to check out this stainless steel water bottle by ThermoFlask. It will take the beating of months/years on the road and keep your drinks ice cold or toasty warm, wherever you may be.

Sun Bum SPF 50 Sunscreen

We all know what sunscreen is and we all know how important it is but why go with Sun Bum? They are cruelty-free and are compliant with the Hawaii 104 Reef Act meaning that you will be helping decrease the amount of damage sunscreens have to the environment that you are swimming in. If that hasn't convinced you then click through to find out even more.

Microfibre Poncho Towel

Need to change on a crowded beach? No more cowering behind a normal towel whilst someone holds it up! Need a compact towel that fits in your day bag? It's got that covered too. These have genuinely been a lifesaver over the years and there are literally no downsides!

Panasonic LUMIX LX10

Other Things To Do In Langkawi

Langkawi is a small island but there is plenty to keep you busy, from cruises and water-based tours to road trips and finding incredible mountain views!

Mangrove Tour

We wrote an entire article about the mangroves in Langkawi as the island is famous for its mangrove forests and what better way to explore these forests than jumping on a boat and venturing through them? You will get dinner on a floating fish farm and see the wonderful nature that Langkawi has to offer. It works quite well in tandem with an island hopping in Langkawi tour as they are on opposite sides of the island. Check out our recommended tour here.

Kayaking Tour

If you want to see the mangroves in style then you could also jump on a kayaking tour which will let you go down even narrower and more mysterious arms of the forests. We went on a sunset kayaking adventure which we highly recommend. Check out the tour we did here or watch the video below to see how good the tour really was. See the full article here for other kayaking adventures in Langkawi!

An Incredible Langkawi Mangrove Kayaking Tour - Possibly The BEST There Is!

Sunset Cruise

This has to be the most romantic thing to do in all of Langkawi. We wrote an article comparing all of the best options for a sunset cruise so check that out here or watch the video below to see how great our experience was. After watching the video click here to book the exact tour we did (we know you’ll want to).

The BEST Sunset Cruise In Langkawi!

Eagle Square

If you happen to be in Kuah (the de facto capital of Langkawi) then I think it is worth checking Eagle Square out. It is a giant statue of the island’s bird – the Brahminy kite. I recommend visiting just before your sunset cruise as it is quite close to the starting point for this experience. If you are not planning to go to Kuah then maybe give it a pass.

Cable Car & Sky Bridge

The Langkawi Sky Cab covers a distance of 1700m and takes you all the way up to the mountains for the best scenery in all of Langkawi. Then, when you get to the top, you can walk the famous Langkawi sky bridge. This bridge spans over the peaks in the mountains and is truly a spectacular piece of engineering. Check out a tour of the cable car and sky bridge here.

Pantai Cenang Watersports

Pantai Cenang beach is definitely the best place on the whole island to get stuck into some affordable and epic watersports like; banana boating, parasailing, and jet skiing. Even if you don’t want to do watersports, the beach is lined with great restaurants and bars so this is a great place to spend a day chilling.

Taking A Road Trip

What? A road trip on this small island? YES, why not? We rented a car on the island and we can attest to how much more freedom this gives you across the island. Langkawi is deceptively bigger than you might think and there is not a great public transport system and taxis can quickly become more expensive than just hiring your own car. Check out the video below to see what I mean and check out prices and availability here.

Comparison Of Langkawi Island Hopping Tours [2024]

Here’s a quick comparison of all your island hopping tour Langkawi options.

Below, you’ll find more information about each of these island hopping Langkawi tour choices.

Which Islands Do The Island Hopping Langkawi Tours Generally Go?

While many islands make up Langkawi, most of the hopping island Langkawi tours tend to visit three islands during a trip.  These islands are Pulau Dayang Bunting, Pulau Singa Besar and Beras Basah Island.

Below, I’ve briefly covered each of these islands and what you can expect to see and do at each.

Keep in mind that a visit to these three islands is very popular and it can feel a little like being on a tourist conveyor belt as tourists constantly arrive and depart. However, it is so beautiful, it’s hard to care.

Pulau Dayang Bunting

Kayaking on the lake at Pulau Dayang Bunting Langkawi

Pulau Dayang Bunting is the second largest island in Langkawi and is most famous for Pregnant Maiden Lake.  From afar, the hills surrounding the stunning lake are said to resemble the silhouette of a reclined pregnant woman lying on her back – check out the first photo in this article and see if you can pick it. Locals also believe that women unable to become pregnant will become pregnant after swimming in the lake.

On our island hopping tour, we stopped for a view of the pregnant maiden on our way to entry point of the island.

Pregnant Maiden Lake is surrounded by massive hills covered in dense, lush rainforest. To reach the lake, you will need to take a 5-10 minute walk via a stairway which is built through the rainforest.   At the start of the walk are some eating options, a photo place and an office where you need to pay an entry fee. This entry fee is usually not included in the cost of the tour. When we were there, it was RM6 for foreigners and RM3 for Malaysians.

Once you reach the freshwater lake, you’ll find a pontoon from which you can go kayaking, pedal boating and swimming.  While you’re here, be sure to look up at the hills surrounding the lake for a view of the young maiden said to be around 6-7 months pregnant.

Most Langkawi hopping island tour operators include around 60 to 90 minutes of free time here.

The lake area is stunning and it’s easy to spend some time here. I kayaked with two of my kids which was a lot of fun.

Pulau Beras Basah

Pulau Beras Basah Langkawi

At Pulau Beras Basah (also referred to as Wet Rice Island) you’ll be greeted by a beautiful beach with white sandy beach, clear turquoise waters and sweeping views of the ocean.   It’s a gorgeous spot, but unfortunately, there is a little trash in the water.

During your time on Pulau Beras Basah, you can swim, snorkel (although I don’t think there is much to see) or relax.  There is also a small stall here where you can pay additional money to go banana boating, jet skiing or even parasailing.  The stall also sells basic snacks and drinks – do be wary of the cheeky monkeys though that may try to steal your food.

There’s also a small cafe with a couple of food options like hot dogs.

It’s a beautiful spot and easy to enjoy.

Generally your Langkawi Island hopping package will allow around an hour at Pulau Beras Basah.

Pulau Singa Besar

Pulau Singa Besar eagles Langkawi

Also known as Big Lion Island, Pulau Singa Besar, is the best island in Langkawi for eagle watching.  Not only is this island home to eagles, but also monkeys, mousedeer, hornbills, snakes, monitor lizards, peacocks and more. So do keep a lookout when you’re here.

Typically, your island hopping Langkawi package will make a quick 10 minute or so boat stop so you can admire the eagles that dip and dive into the water for food.

Paradise 101

Paradise 101 is a beautiful, private island that is perfect for people wanting to chill in a beautiful place or who want to participate in water sports.

Although not part of the standard island hopping package that Langkawi tour operators provide, it can be visited as part of a day trip on its own.

There are many activities including jet skiing, banana boats, parasailing and kayaking. There is also a zip line and an inflatable obstacle course on the sea called Aqua Park. There’s food and a bar with music, plenty of places to sit and enjoy and it’s quite an experience.

The good news with this island hopping package in Langkawi is that you can stay as long as you want and the entry ticket includes return boat transfers, a welcome drink, 20 minutes of kayaking, an hour on the Aqua Park and volleyball and board games.

You can then book extra activities and meals when you are there or you can book an activity, such as parasailing, in advance and you’ll also get entry to Paradise 101 for free.

Alternatively, you can book parasailing and entry to Paradise 101 here.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Inclusions

Teluk Baru Jetty Langkawi

Generally, a Langkawi Island hopping tour package will include transport to and from your hotel in a minivan.  The transport will take you to the Teluk Baru Jetty where most of the half day island hopping Langkawi tours depart from.  Other tour inclusions are the boat journey, tour guide and life jackets.

Most of the Pulau Langkawi Island hopping tours last around 4 hours and provide the option of either a morning or afternoon tour.  Morning tours tend to leave around 8:30am returning at 1pm, while the afternoon tours tend to leave at 1pm and return at 5:30pm.

As well as taking a boat for your island hopping tour, there is also the option to do a jet ski island hopping Langkawi tour.  An island hopping Langkawi jet ski tour is far more expensive than the standard boat tours but is so much fun and a super cool way to explore the Langkawi islands.

A package island hopping Langkawi tour doesn’t include any meals or snacks, although often some water is provided.  It is recommended that you bring your own food and water – bring plenty of water to last the entire trip.  See more on what to bring on your tour below.

Paradise 101 tours do differ and you can spend as long as you want here.

What Is The Island Hopping Tours Langkawi Price ?

The standard half day Langkawi island hopping price is around RM40-50 per adult with children being cheaper or free – the exact ages for this depends on the Langkawi island hopping packages you pick .

The Langkawi Island hopping tour price does tend to vary depending on the season and, if you book through your hotel, expect to pay more .

Click here to see the latest prices now.

As mentioned above, the Langkawi Island hopping package price for jet ski tours are much more than a boat tour (but so much more fun too!).  You can expect a jet ski island hopping Langkawi price to be around RM700 .

Also keep in mind, as stated above, there is an additional entry fee for Dayang Bunting.  This is not usually included in a Langkawi island tour packag e price. T he entry fee for foreigners is RM6 per adult and RM3 per child (3-11 yrs) and for locals is RM3 per adult and RM1 per child (3-11 yrs).

If you want to hire kayaks or paddleboards at Dayang Bunting, that is also an additional charge . This cost RM20 for a 2-person kayak and life jackets for 30 minutes when we were there.

Island Hopping In Langkawi Tour Options

When it comes to booking an island hopping Pulau Langkawi tour, you can either book in advance through websites, such as Klook , or simply walk down the beachfront and book with one of the many tour operators you come across.

If you’re you like to pre-plan your activities, then booking in advance is the way to go. It can be cheaper and is much easier with everything spelled out for what exactly you’ll get.  Below I’ve listed the best Langkawi Island tours to consider.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour

This is the standard Langkawi Island hopping tour which includes free time at Pulau Dayang Bunting (Lake of the Pregnant Maiden), eagle watching at Pulau Singa Besar and an hour of free time at Pulau Beras Basah.

You can choose to meet at a group pick-up point or pay a little extra to be picked up from your hotel.

It’s a half day tour which runs in the mornings daily. It also runs in the afternoons at some times of the year.

We had a great experience on this tour. There aren’t any inclusions apart from the transfers, but it is incredibly good value.

Tours start from RM40 per adult.

Click here for more details and to book now.

The plontoon at Pulau Dayang Bunting Langkawi

Private Langkawi Island Hopping Tour

This is basically the same as the standard Langkawi Island hopping tour above which includes free time at Pulau Dayang Bunting (Lake of the Pregnant Maiden), eagle watching at Pulau Singa Besar and an hour of free time at Pulau Beras Basah.

However, the big difference is that you get your own boat! So it’s nice and private.

It’s perfect for families or groups or anyone who wants a more intimate experience. You simply pick the size of your boat and your ideal pick up time.

It’s our family’s personal favourite way to go island hopping. It makes it far less stressful with kids and the price is competitive to going on a group tour.

You need to make your own way to the pick-up point at McDonald’s UnderWater World Langkawi.

Tours start from RM 350 for a boat for eight.

Pulau Beras Basah.

Langkawi Island Hopping Jet Ski Tour

For the thrill-seekers, you can’t beat taking a jet ski tour around the islands of Langkawi.  Under the supervision of an experienced guide, you’ll speed through the blue waters past several Langkawi islands.

Depending on the duration of your jet ski tour, you’ll visit the islands mentioned above, including Pulau Dayang Bunting, eagle watching at Pulau Singa Besar and Pulau Beras Basah, as well as the opportunity to visit other islands such as Intan Kecil Island (for snorkelling) and see the mangroves at Tuba Island and cruise the Andaman Sea.

This island hopping jet ski Langkawi option is lots of fun!

3.5 hour tours start from RM700 per adults. There is also a six hour option. It runs in the morning daily as well as some afternoons.

The price only includes pick-up from Pantai Cenang area. If you are elsewhere, there’s an extra charge.

Find more jet ski options in Langkawi here.

Jet skis in Langkawi

As mentioned above, you can also head out to Paradise 101 for the day to enjoy the beach, water sports and food in comfort and ease.

You won’t see as many Langkawi islands as the other options, but you can spend as long as you like. This is a great option.

The Paradise 101 package price includes return boat transfers, a welcome drink, 20 minutes of kayaking, an hour on the Aqua Park and volleyball and board games.

The Aqua Park is an inflatable obstacle course on the water.

Tours start from RM49.50 per person.  You can chose your start time, but you do need to make your own way to the jetty for your boat transfer unless you pay an extra RM50 for a transfer.

Click here to book now on Klook or you can book direct with the operator here.

I recommend booking with the operator direct so you can book any other options you’d like in advance.

Paradise 101 – Extra Options

The Paradise 101 Langkawi island trip above is perfect for many, but if you have something in particular you want to do, and you don’t care about the 20 minutes of kayaking or Aqua Park included access, you can book a different option beforehand.

These options come with the activity specified, entry to Paradise 101 and your boat transfers, but not necessarily everything you get mentioned above. This is why these options are sometimes cheaper.

Which option is best really depends on you and your preferences.

Here are your choices:

  • Paradise 101 + Parasailing
  • Paradise 101 + Banana Boat
  • Paradise 101 + Kayaking

If you do want multiple of these options, clicking above or here to book direct , does allow you to add extras once you select to book.

Whatever you pick, you’re sure to have a great time!

Pulau Dayang Bunting

What to Bring On An Island Hopping Tour In Langkawi?

To ensure you have a great time on your island hopping trip make sure you bring plenty of water with you as well as snacks.  While some operators provide water and some islands may have stands where you can buy water and snacks, don’t rely on this as it may not be enough. Our tour finished later than we expected so we were quite hungry and wished we had brought more with us.

Also be sure to bring your swimmers, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses and preferably a waterproof camera so you can get some great water shots.  I had read you need good walking shoes to get to the lake on Pulau Dayang Bunting. This path is good though and any shoes should be fine.

Final Words

No trip to Langkawi is complete without at least one day exploring the stunning islands that makeup beautiful Langkawi.  Given most of these islands are uninhabited, an island hopping tour really is the best way to go.

Whichever island Langkawi hopping tour you decide to go with – we hope you have a fantastic day!

Visiting some of Langkawi's best island!

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

About the Langkawi Island Hopping Tour

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour is one of the recommended things to do when visiting Langkawi!

On the second day of our Langkawi trip, we had on our itinerary Langkawi’s Island Hopping Tour , which if you look up on google the island hopping tour is one of the recommended things to do in Langkawi. T he island hopping tour stretches about 3-4 hours long, from 9am to 1pm,  covering three islands south of Langkawi’s main island.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

The tour brings us to visit Langkawi’s famous lake called Pulau Dayang Bunting ( Lake of the Pregnant Maiden) where we went kayaking. Then we stopped at Pulau Singa Besar for eagle watching from the boat. Lastly, it brought us to Pulau Beras Basah (Wet Rice Island) where we relax on the white sandy beach and enjoy the crystal clear water.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review - Pulau Dayang Bunting

There are two options to enjoy the Langkawi Island Hopping Tour:

1. Speedboat Tour (Shared or Private Boat Tour)  – This is a relaxed and chilled experience which was what we chose because it was much cheaper.

2. Jet Ski Tour – I f you’re feeling adventurous you can opt for the jet ski tour .

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

Since we’ve picked the Tour Only package, the arrangement was for us to go to the meeting point at McDonald’s next to the Underwater World in Pantai Cenang and the transport will pick us up from there to the jetty.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

Once we arrived at the Jetty, we were surprised at how packed it was, there were just so many people there. It was clear blue skies that day, and we could see the boats parked at the pier as we follow our way to the boat.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

Island #1: Pulau Dayang Bunting

For the first island, we were brought to the Pulau Dayang Bunting, which translates to the Pregnant Maiden island, because the island looks like a shape of a sleeping pregnant lady. On the island itself, there is a lake where you can swim and have activities here.

We were given an hour to spend on the island itself. Do take note of your boat number as you would need to return to the same boat.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

There is a freshwater lake called Tasik Dayang Bunting which requires about 5 minutes of hike where you can swim and enjoy some water activities such as kayaking.

Do prepare some cash as there is an entrance fee of RM3 to go to the lake and also if you want to rent the kayaks at the lake which you have to pay extra for.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

The pregnant maiden lake is a freshwater lake that’s right next to the sea on the other side. The limestone marbles made up the entire island, it was a breathtaking sight!

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

Since the couple canoe was fully rented out, we opted for the single paddle canoe and two life jackets from the counter next to the lake for RM30 . It got tiring after a while with all the cycling (we’re totally unfit people haha), but it was totally worth it!

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

After an hour, we headed back to the jetty. We were slightly late, but thankfully our boat was waiting for us!

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

Island #2: Pulau Singa Besar

Next, we headed to the next island called Pulau Singa Besar to watch the eagle feeding session . It was an incredible sight to witness these majestic birds so close to our boat. It was a fairly quick stop about 5-10 minutes as we do not need to get off the boat. With that we’re off to the third and final island.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

Island #3: Pulau Beras Basah

Our last stop is Pulau Beras Basah, known for its crystal blue waters and white sandy beach.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

There are some activities available on the island such as snorkeling banana boat and jet ski rentals, but we see the majority of the people swimming or chilling on the beach.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

And if you need a little refreshment there is a small stall available here on the island selling some drinks and snacks.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

We were given an hour time on the island and after that, we headed back to the jetty on Langkawi’s main island and back to Pantai Chenang where we came from earlier.

Langkawi Island Hopping Tour Review

Conclusion: Is the Langkawi Island Hopping worth it?

For just only RM40 per pax to tour the beautiful islands, it is definitely worth it! If you have a higher budget, of course, you can opt for the Jet Ski tour, which we would like to do that one day 😉 It only takes about 3-4 hours so if you have time to slot it into your itinerary we would definitely recommend you to do so when you visit Langkawi!

Ultimate Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

August 14, 2020 by Vanessa Workman 2 Comments

Island hopping in Langkawi is one of the top sightseeing activities offered by local Langkawi travel agents and tour guides. And with the Langkawi archipelago having 99 islands (104 at low tide), it is definitely an island lover’s dream come true. Plenty of island hopping possibilities too. But with so many islands to choose from, where to begin, right? Thankfully Langkawi has a tried and true island hopping trifecta that has stood the test of time, is easy to do and crazy affordable. And if you don’t check out this popular Langkawi island hopping tour, you will surely miss out on one heck of an opportunity.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

I’m talking about just 3 islands that are so popular that they have been the stars of the Langkawi island hopping tour packages for over a decade; Pulau Dayang Bunting , Pulau Singa Besar , and Pulau Beras Basah .

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

The 3 island Langkawi Island Hopping adventure is a 3 to 4-hour tour that takes in the three islands typically starting with Pulau Dayang Bunting, then onto Pulau Singa Besar and ending with Pulau Beras Basah. However, sometimes the boatman will reverse that order to help ease boat congestion, or because they feel like it. If the island hopping order is important to you, you can always let the boatman know your preference. It usually takes 20 to 30 minutes to get to the first stop either way, depending on how fast your driver is. And in many cases, they can go quite fast so hold on tight!

Meet the Stars of the Langkawi Island Hopping Trifecta:

Pulau dayang bunting (pregnant maiden island).

Pulau Dayang Bunting is the second largest island in the Langkawi archipelago. It is also part of the Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest Park , one of three such designated parks within the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark . Dayang Bunting is around 17 kilometers from the Kuah jetty which translates to a 20 to 25 minutes boat ride to get there.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

The heavily forested park itself is 4,354 hectares in size and has a massive freshwater lake, which is about 800 meters long and 350 meters wide. The average depth of the lake is 14 meters.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

Several legends are tied to the naming of this island and namesake lake; Tasik Dayang Bunting (Pregnant Maiden Lake). The lake is famously known for its rumored fertility-enhancing properties. The surrounding hills’ likeness of a reclined pregnant woman (or maiden), of course, helps back up this story. The hillside silhouette is only visible from the sea, so your boatman will stop at the location en route to the island so guests can take a photo. Be sure to have your camera ready, because it’s a very brief look-see stopover.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

So, what’s the legend about fertility enhancing waters, you ask? Well, one version is the tale of a lonely fairy princess who was tricked into marrying an earthling whom she had met at the lake. At the time the jungle was so dense that few locals had ever been there, thus any man suddenly appearing would certainly be a special catch for a lonely fairy princess. The child, born of their unconventional union, unfortunately died and the princess buried the baby in the waters of the lake. She then blessed the waters. And as legends go, now, any barren female who drinks from the lake will become pregnant.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

Geologically speaking Pulau Dayang Bunting is an impressive 350 million years old and comprised of various types of limestone. You can read all about the geological wonders of Pulau Dayang Bunting and Tasik Dayang Bunting at the admission/ entry building as there are several informative signboards there.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

How much time: Group tour time allotment is typically about 1 hour

What to do there: There are two sections of the Pulau Dayang Bunting ‘tour’, the arrival dock area and the lake area . The arrival dock area has a small open-air food stall, a couple of small shops, toilets and a Geopark information building/ admission ticket desk. Tasik Dayang Bunting (Pregnant Maiden Lake), where most of the action is, is about a 10 to 12-minute walk through an inclining forest walkway and down a set of very steep slightly irregular stairs.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

A small admission fee of 3-6 Ringgit is now required to visit the lake. Visitors can swim in the lake, rent a kayak or a paddle boat. There is also a very inviting reflexology shop there now and the perfect lakeside spot for a foot massage ( Dayang Bunting Spa ).

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

My two cents: *If you are taking a group tour, your time will be limited. So, do keep that in mind if you are enticed by the smell of food and decide to grab a bite first, because you may not have much time to take a dip in the lake or get your money’s worth in kayaking (or foot massage) time. If you are keen on making the most of your Pregnant Maiden Lake experience , you will want to get to the admission desk quickly, get your ticket and hike up the stairs to the lake. You can grab a bite or check out the shops afterwards.

*A degree of physical fitness is needed to hike to the lake and back. The jungle can also be quite humid, so be sure to hydrate well. Proper footwear and loose comfortable clothes will also make the short hike much more pleasant.

* Please do not feed the monkeys! As friendly as they may appear, they are still wild animals and they can bite. They are also quite capable of getting their own food from the jungle as nature intended.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

Pulau Singa Besar (Big Lion Island)

Pulau Singa Besar is located about 7 kilometers from Kuah and around 7 kilometers in length and 3 kilometers in width. The dense jungle clad island was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1988 and unfortunately became more of a zoo or something as a number of non-indigenous species were introduced and things just didn’t work out. The ‘sanctuary’ has since closed down.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

The island is said to be shaped like a lion (or perhaps once was), thus the name. But the more colorful version of how this island got its name has to do with a legend of a fairy who placed lions on the island for protection. Lions apparently were very big back in the olden days as similar lion references came into play among ancient mariners in the naming of both Singapura (Singapore); Lion City in Sanskrit and Songkhla , Thailand. Songkhla City’s original name was Singgora , which means ‘the city of lions’ in ancient Malay language.

Never the less you won’t find any lions at Pulau Singa Besar but you will find many Brahminy Kites and White-bellied Sea Eagles hunting for food in the nearby waters.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

How much time: Group tour time allotment is about 15-20-minutes.

What to do there: You won’t be going ashore at Pulau Singa Besar, so just sit tight and look towards the sky and shoreline tree tops for the famous birds of prey; Brahminy Kites and Sea Eagles. This is the location for the Eagle Watching or Eagle Feeding activity as Brahminy Kites and White-Bellied Sea Eagles have come to favor the waters of Singa Besar as a place to find food.

‘Eagle Watching’ is the politically correct version of ‘Eagle Feeding’. ‘Eagle Feeding’ is tied to a bit of controversy, in recent years, depending on how you see things. Some tour guests may even erroneously think they are personally going to be hand-feeding wild eagles. Technically you will be ‘watching’ eagles (Brahminy Kites and Sea Eagles) feed, but in some cases your boatman (or other boatmen) may choose to encourage the birds by offering them chicken skin. If birds are flying especially close to a boat it is likely that that is what is going on. These birds are Raptors and are quite capable of catching their own natural food.

‘Raptors required a diet rich with protein and calcium which they derive by preying on fishes and sea snakes in the wild. Protein and calcium are very important in development of strong muscles, healthy bones and feathers, whereas a diet of commercially farmed chicken entrails and skin are rich in fat, antibiotics and synthetic hormones. These will seriously impact the health of the wild birds and indirectly the ecology it lives in.’ – Junglewalla Tours, Langkawi

If you are a true nature lover and prefer to travel more sustainably , then just be content to watch the natural version of eagles feeding and do not ask your boatman about ‘feeding’ any wildlife nor encourage him to do this activity. No need to argue with anyone about it either; just be aware of what’s what and be cool. Especially if you are in a group boat. And if you need an especially fantastic photo of a bird in flight, then bring a telephoto lens (not chicken skin).

My Two Cents: *Not all boatmen are going to announce that you have arrived at Pulau Singa Besar, and maybe not even mentioned what it is you are doing there. It may be assumed. You may even connect the dots yourself just as the boat starts to speed off again. So be ready and if you don’t have ample time for a photo, just ask the boatman to give you a few more minutes. (I speak from personal experience as you can see from my not-so-stellar Pulau Singa Besar, ‘Eagle Watching’ photos).

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

Pulau Beras Basah (Wet Rice Island)

Located about 25 kilometers from Kuah, Pulau Beras Basah is what you see is what you get; white sand beaches and swaying palms. It also has an intriguing name as there are no visible padi fields there and no online mentions of how it came to be named. Coincidentally there is another Pulau Beras Basah in Indonesia, so maybe there is some connection between the two.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

At any rate, the island is undeveloped and has but a few buildings (including toilets) presently situated along the beach. Pulau Beras Basah is known as a safe harbor for fishermen caught in storms as well as famously known for its white sand beaches.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

How much time: Group tour time allotment is about 40-minutes.

What to do there: If you love white sand beaches, then you will love Pulau Beras Basah. But considering the limited time, do consider in advance if you just want to just take a few selfies there or get wet. Snorkel equipment is available to rent (20 Ringgit) and banana boat and ‘couch boat’ rides are also available. You can easily spend half your group tour allotted time posing on the beach, because it’s just that kind of beach. By the time you saunter up to the water sports counter it could easily already be time for your pick up. So be prepared!

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

My Two Cents: *Please dispose of your trash in the appropriate container. Despite having staff raking and cleaning the beach front, there were still many tell-tale spots (when I visited) where it was obvious a tourist had sat, snacked and left their trash. Unsightly is an understatement. No one at Pulau Beras Besah is being paid to pick up after lazy tourists, so please do your part to help keep it clean.

How to Sign Up for an Awesome Langkawi Island Hopping Tour

Easy peasy! Most tour desks will be offering this 3-island, Island Hopping Tour ; some will be tour companies and some will be freelance agents selling for tour companies. But for Kuah departures , I can personally recommend Kak Ayu at the Pekan Rabu Jetty . I was able to sms her 2-days beforehand and just show up 30-minutes before my island hopping tour. It was easy and hassle-free. You can call or text her at 010 209 4077 or go see her in person at the Pekan Rabu Jetty. For Pantai Cenang/ Porto Malai departures call Rbz Holiday via sms (text) or Whatsapp at +6 013 420 6303. Both could also help arrange other island hopping tour packages as well.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

When purchasing island hopping tickets, do make sure you get a proper receipt. Tickets may vary in price if hotel pick up is included or if someone is fattening up the sales commission, but it shouldn’t vary much more than 5 or so Ringgit. If your group tour is quoted at closer to 50 Ringgit per person, you might want to shop around, because that is not the across the board price for a group tour.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

When is the Best Time for Island Hopping in Langkawi

It’s always a good time to go island hopping in Langkawi! And unless the seas are extremely rough, island hopping is pretty much offered year-round. Even during the monsoon months, you might get a little rain and some grey skies, but if you still want to go for it, it is doable. However, if you are strictly on a quest for great photos, you may want to opt for a blue sky day.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

What to Wear and What to Bring

Dress for comfort and wear practical shoes.  Do remember that group tours include other people, so itsy bitsy bikinis or speedos (only) are not always appropriate. Please consider the diversity of the others in your boat and at the island stops.

If you plan on getting wet, be sure to bring a towel and change of clothes. A cheap rain poncho isn’t a bad idea either, especially during the monsoon season. Just in case.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

You will also need to bring your own water as the group tours do not include it. You can purchase water and other beverages at the jetties, Pulau Beras Basah and Pulau Dayang Bunting. Snacks and food items are also available at these locations.

*Do not expect to find alcoholic beverages offered and it is not likely that bringing alcoholic beverages on any island hopping tour is a brilliant idea, or even allowed. But you can certainly clarify that with the tour agents.

Group Island Hopping Tour vs Private Boat

Group island hopping tours are normally 12 persons per boat (10 during Malaysia’s Covid-19 RMCO regulations). The cost per person is beyond reasonable at about 35 Ringgit per person. There is a schedule to follow with limited time at each island stop.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

Private island hopping tours are basically you, a boatman and a boat with a starting price of 250 Ringgit on up. You could hook up with a few other like-minded island hoppers and share that ‘private’ boat option or just enjoy the luxury of your own private ride. You can still do the three island hop, but you will have more time to hang out at each location.

Other Islands

If you are interested to explore other islands in Langkawi, aside from Langkawi’s main island there are 3 others that are inhabited. Inhabited meaning that there are communities of people there; Pulau Tuba , Pulau Rebak and the other side of Pulau Dayang Bunting ( Kampung Selat Bagan Nyior ). All three are easy to get to and either free of charge or a small fee. Pulau Tuba departs from Jeti Dato Syed Omar (previously known as Marble Jetty), Kampung Selat Bagan Nyior bound boats can be found at the Pekan Rabu Jetty and Pulau Rebak bound boats can be found at Kuala Cenang near Tubotel (hotel). And for a slightly more adventurous island hop, check out Pulau Payar Marine Park ; 35-kilometers south of the Langkawi archipelago.

Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

For the other 95-plus (depending on the tide), well, island hopping those islands can also be arranged. However, you might want to do a little research first as that island with the cool name could be just a sliver of beach and jungle. Or be non-existent at high tide. Either way you will just need a boatman and some good price-negotiating skills.

Where to find a boatman you ask? Go back to the island hopping tour agents and tell them you would like to hire a private boat to visit a particular island or islands. It might even be helpful to have your dream islands circled on a map, for communication purposes.

Final Tips on Island Hopping in Langkawi

Money: Be sure to get to an ATM before you check in for your island hopping tour. There are no ATMs at Pekan Rabu or the Porto Malai jetty and certainly none on any of the islands. You will want some extra cash on hand just in case.

Feeding Wildlife: Again, please don’t feed the monkeys (or any wildlife for that matter). Yes, the begging monkeys are oh so cute, but you are not doing them any favors by feeding them. You make them dependent on humans as well as too trusting, which puts them at risk when encountering not-so-nice humans who may want to hurt them. They can also bite. And please do not hand them plastic bags of snacks or plastic bottles of water, because not only is it not good for them, what do you think happens to the trash once your boat has departed?

Trash: Speaking of trash, please always dispose of your rubbish properly regardless of where you are in Langkawi. It takes so little effort for everyone to do their part to help keep Langkawi Clean. Langkawi thanks you!

Ultimate Guide to Langkawi Island Hopping

August 16, 2020 at 2:41 am

Focusing on 3 islands definitely seems to make the most sense Vanessa. Sometimes, we suffer from information overload when it comes to visiting a certain area. But you only enjoy these spots by taking time to zero in for a few places to visit, to enjoy, to be fully present it. Excellent Langkawi breakdown here.

Thanks Ryan. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to go to a particular island and unable to find anyone to give me cut to the chase info. And when I recently took this 3 island hop (which I have taken before) it dawned on me that there was missing information that needed to be shared. I was hugely disappointed when I discovered the foot massage place and had but 10 minutes to get back to my boat. Had I only known beforehand! :D

Island Hopping in Langkawi

best island hopping tour langkawi

Although we usually think of Langkawi as one island off the west coast of Malaysia, Pulau Langkawi is just one out of 99 islands in the Langkawi Archipelago. And out of these almost 100 islands in the chain, just four are inhabited. Our guide to island hopping Langkawi gives you some of the most popular islands to visit.

Yes, the most beautiful, unspoiled destinations in this tourist hotspot aren’t on the “mainland” itself but scattered to the south, east and west; tiny specks of paradise in the Andaman Sea, covered in mangrove jungle and fringed by coral reefs.

Seeing Langkawi’s natural beauty at its best means heading out on a boat and visiting the offshore islands, so it’s little wonder that island hopping tours are some of the most popular activities Langkawi has to offer.

So, which destinations should be on your list of “must-visits” on an island hopping tour of Langkawi? Let’s do some exploring!

Dayang Bunting Island

This island is the most frequented by island-hopping tours, home to the beautiful Dayang Bunting Lake (Pregnant Maiden Lake, named after a local folk tale), the largest freshwater lake in Langkawi. It’s a short hike through dense rainforest to reach the lake, which is surrounded by forested limestone hills. The lake is perfect for a refreshing swim, and there are also small peddle boats for hire. Despite its popularity, Dayang Bunting retains a sense of wild, relatively untouched nature.

🛳️ Langkawi Island Hopping Private Boat Tour

Offered by LangkawiBook.my , this private boat tour accommodates 9 to 12 people and includes visits to Beras Basah Island and Pulau Singa Besar. The tour is flexible, allowing you to choose your own timing and meet at the Teluk Baru Jetty. While admission to Tasik Dayang Bunting is not included in the tour price and has to be paid at the counter, the tour provides life jackets and promises an unforgettable experience around Langkawi’s beautiful islands. Prices start from MYR 350.10, and you can expect activities like eagle spotting and enjoying crystal clear waters and white sand beaches

Singa Besar Island

This amazing wildlife sanctuary is another standard stop on a half-day island hop. Its thick coastal jungles are home to monkeys, mousedeer, hornbills, giant monitor lizards and peacocks. Every day, local boatmen put on an eagle feeding “show” for the tourists, tossing chicken bits into the water so the huge birds swoop in low enough for sharp-shooting photographers to snap close-up pictures.

Overnight camping is permitted on Singa Besar, but you must obtain prior permission from the Malaysian Fisheries Department.

⛴️ LangkawiGoTours

Their Island Hopping Langkawi tour includes a visit to Pulau Singa Besar. The tour is known for its scenic boat ride through mangroves, limestone formations, and the opportunity to witness eagles in their natural habitat. The tour starts from Teluk Baru jetty and also includes a visit to the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden on Dayang Bunting Island

Beras Besar Island

Usually the last stop on a standard half-day tour, this postcard perfect coral-fringed island has a palm-tree lined beach with blindingly white sand and far clearer water than what you’ll find around mainland Langkawi. A little shop sells cold drinks and rents out masks and snorkels. The small beach can get quite crowded at times, so to see it at its best, pick a tour that heads there early in the morning.

🛳️ Langkawibook.my

This tour provider offers a popular island hopping tour that includes a visit to Beras Basah Island. The tour also covers the famous Lake of the Pregnant Maiden and offers a range of water activities, beach relaxation, and the opportunity to see local wildlife like the Brahminy Kite

Pulau Payar Marine Park

This protected marine park is a series of small four emerald green islands. Located 30km south-east of Kuah (around a 45 minute boat ride), they’re usually visited by boats heading out on snorkelling and diving excursions. The islands of Paya, Kaca, Lembu and Segantang have some of the healthiest coral and most abundant fishlife in the archipelago. The park caters well for day visitors with restrooms, barbecue pits and shaded picnic areas with great views over the shallow inshore reefs.

best island hopping tour langkawi

⛴️ TraveloMalaysia

Offers a Pulau Payar Tour, which includes snorkelling by Lgk Coral Beach with a packed lunch. This 6-hour tour allows you to explore the underwater observation chamber and engage in snorkelling or scuba diving along the reef system that skirts the south, east, and west of Pulau Payar.

Not too many island hopping tours have Pulau Tuba on their itinerary, but it’s easy enough to go there yourself by arranging a ride with one of the local boatmen at Marble Jetty in Kuah. Tuba is less than 20-minute ride away. Providing a unique cultural experience for visitors, Tuba is one of Langkawi’s few inhabited islands. It’s home to a handful of small fishing and farming settlements where villagers still live a relatively traditional way of life. Inland Tuba is covered in lushly forested hills, rich in wildlife. Several hiking tracks are leading deep into the jungle, including the challenging trail to the Gua Wang Buloh caves, where the locals are said to have hidden from Japanese invaders during WWII.

One Day Tour to Pulau Tuba Island Langkawi

Offered by OnTourMalaysia , this tour includes a transfer from Kuah Town to Pulau Tuba and back. The itinerary covers a kampung tour by motorbikes, trekking, visits to local sites like Buffalo Garden and Cave Wang Buluh, and various sea activities like fishing and eagle feeding. Lunch features the island’s famous prawn noodles. The tour runs from 9 am to 7 pm and costs MYR 280 per person, with special deals for groups of more than two people.

For an authentic rural Malay experience, you can join a homestay program, stay in the local community and partake in activities like fishing, cooking and handicraft making.

Island Hopping

Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands, of which two-thirds are uninhibited. It’s an UNESCO Geo-park spanning 478,000 square meters full of flora, fauna, and pristine beaches, making Langkawi Island Hopping one of the most popular activities for visitors.

Tour operators for Langkawi Island Hopping are numerous, however one should always be careful in selecting licensed and experienced operators. All of Tropical Charters operators are licensed, rightfully earning the Asia and Australasia Awards 2017 for Best Charter Company of the year.

A typical Langkawi Island Hopping tour lasts 4 hours, and includes lunch. We provide BBQ lunch on a private stretch of beach for our guests, freshly cooked by our experienced chefs to round off the experience with a full and happy stomach. The Langkawi Island Hopping tour kicks off from the Teluk Baru Jetty on Tengah Beach and sets sail once all guests are onboard.

3 Islands, 1 Day, Twice a Day

We have an early riser option that starts at 9 am and ends at 1 pm, and another Langkawi Island Hopping tour that starts at 2 pm. The Langkawi Island Hopping tour stops at 3 main islands, which are Dayang Bunting Island, Beras Basah Island and Singa Besar Island.

While basic amenities are available on the islands, they are incredibly limited. We usually encourage guests to pack their own drinking water, snacks and good sun block to combat the sun.

Dayang Bunting Island

From Teluk Baru, this island is a 20 minute ride. The island is so named for its shape resembling a pregnant maiden, of whom there are many myths and tales about. The island’s biggest draw is only a short 15 minute hike up the trail, which will lead you to the other side of the island. There,  a clear blue, fresh water lake awaits.

The limestone formations and dense forests surrounding the lake transports you into a time long ago, one before cell phones and skyscrapers. Here, you have the option of swimming in the lake, trekking through the forest trails, or renting a paddleboat to cover more areas for  exploration. There is also a catfish spa where you can spend time soaking your feet, to allow the catfish to exfoliate your skin.

Singa Besar Island

Though its name means ‘Big Lion’, this island on the Langkawi Island Hopping tour is famous for eagle feeding. From the comfort of the boat, you will be able to watch the magnificent feeding frenzy of hundreds of eagles diving from the sky to grab fish out of the water. The species of eagle found here is the Golden Brown Eagle and the White Bellied Eagle.

Beras Basah Island

Presumably named ‘wet rice’ for the shape of its fine sandy white beaches, this is an island of relaxation. Sun bathers and swimmers will love the calm shallow waters, while the adrenaline junkies can rent banana boats and jet skis.

Notable wildlife on this island are the ‘beach monkeys’. These monkeys are acclimatized to humans and know they have food, so caution is always advised when setting up the perfect picnic location.

The three islands cap off a perfect Langkawi Island Hopping tour, giving you a diverse range of activity. Guests who prefer to charter a private boat or want a bespoke route can always speak to our consultant, who will be able to customize an itinerary.

Eagle Feeding Activity at Pulau Singa Besar

Langkawi Eagle feeding is a must activity when you take the island hoping Langkawi Tour. The feast begins as the boat circling around while revving it’s engine. This is to make sure the chicken skin to be scattered around and the eagles will flying around and snatch the floating chicken skin.

The reason why the eagle is often around when they hear the revving boat engine is because, the fishermen often discard small fishes caught in their nets, which made for easy pickings for the eagles.

If you are lucky, there more than hundred eagle waiting and will have some hunting ‘show’ for the tourist. The most anticipated bird in the mangroves of Langkawi’s mangroves among bird enthusiasts is the Brown-winged Kingfisher (Pelargopsis amauroptera, Burung Pekaka Emas Bakau). Near-threatened bird of Langkawi, Malaysia and Red Eagle or Brahminy kite.

Red Eagle or Brahminy kite nowhere to be found accept in Langkawi, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. This is one the reason a nature’s lover have to come here and catch a sight of The Red Eagle of Langkawi during mangrove tour langkawi.
