DETHKLOK Announces April 2024 U.S. Tour

The Great Reuniting continues as the world’s most important cultural force,  DETHKLOK , returns to American stages and brings their songs of salvation to the masses. Running from April 07 through May 03, Dethklok’s newly announced  Mutilation on a Spring Night Tour , produced by Live Nation, will see support from  DragonForce  and  Nekrogoblikon .

Dethklok is an illustrated/animated virtual powerhouse, occupying an elite space alongside Gorillaz. Except Dethklok is bigger, better, more brutal, and totally legendary.

The world’s most brutal band are the stars of the  Metalocalypse  TV series and films, cocreated by Brendon Small.  Revolver Magazine  calls the writer, director, and composer the “musical mastermind” behind Dethklok. A vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Small has made four Dethklok albums and assorted releases with legendary metal drummer Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel, Death, Testament, Strapping Young Lad).

“I love bands that celebrate guitar and bands that have a lot of fun onstage. I also love bands that don’t, but for this tour, I think it makes sense to have a lot of dragons, goblins, and ‘kloks together,” says Small. “If you’re going to do this, you gotta go big and over the top. This is going to be a very fun show for people.”

Last year’s BABYKLOK co-headlining trek was the first Dethklok tour in over a decade. “I had no idea how much fun the BABYKLOK tour would be,” remembers Small. “The BABYMETAL girls are delightful, like three princesses from outer space, great singers, and great dancers. Their band is bonkers good. I magically found my way into this parallel universe. The show itself is a great challenge as a vocalist, guitar player, and multitasker. The goal is always to put on the absolute best show that I can.”

2023 saw a flurry of activity from the melodic death metal titans.  Army of the Doomstar  was a sequel to  Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem , released in 2013. 2023 also saw the release of the  Army of the Doomstar Original Motion Picture Soundtrack .  Dethalbum IV  was the most celebrated album of the band’s career, boasting unstoppable anthems like “Aortic Desecration,” “SOS,” and “Gardener of Vengeance.”

“ Dethalbum IV  is a fantastic death metal album,” wrote  New Noise . “Despite Dethklok being an animated band, the music is very real, delivering that scratch to itch the need for good metal.”

Rolling Stone  named  Dethalbum IV  one of the 11 Best Metal Albums of 2023. “The first Dethklok album in more than a decade is totally brutal – and totally worth the wait,” they declared. “Small and Hoglan’s dexterous playing also make the music stand majestically on its own terms. You don’t need to be in on the joke to jump into the pit and mosh along.”

Adult Swim aired four seasons of  Metalocalypse  from 2006 to 2013. Premiere global and media entertainment company Warner Bros. Discovery distributes the  Metalocalypse  series and feature films.

“I knew taking on this project meant I’d have to wring everything out of the sponge to make it all work,” Small says of the massive effort put behind the series, movies, albums, and soundtracks. “But this is how I have fun, putting it together, and having the luxury of writing, directing, producing, and making music for something and seeing it all the way through. And when you have great collaborators, everyone elevates each other. I have to deliver everything I can, so I’m proud of it, and they are proud to participate in it.”

“This is a very fun time with the tour, the album, and the movie. I don’t know if Dethklok will be touring forever,” he adds. “So, it’s important for people to know they should get it while it’s hot.”

Dethklok of Metalocalypse fame and BABYMETAL have announced a co-headlining 2023 North American tour with support from guitar virtuoso Jason Richardson.

Affectionately dubbed the “BABYKLOK tour,” trek kicks off August 30th in Houston and runs through October 11th in Los Angeles. Along the way, the bands will also make stops at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival on September 10th in Alton, Virginia; the Louder Than Life festival on September 23rd in Louisville, Kentucky; and the Aftershock festival on October 7th in Sacramento, California.

A BABYMETAL artist pre-sale begins today (April 11th) at 1 p.m. local time via Ticketmaster  using the code THEOTHERONE . A Live Nation pre-sale starts Wednesday (April 12th) at 10 a.m. local time using the code VINYL ., while general ticket sales begin Friday (April 14th). Fans can also look for deals or pick up tickets to sold-out shows via StubHub , where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

In other Dethklok news, the highly anticipated feature film Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar is set for a release later this year, along with an accompanying original soundtrack and a new Dethklok studio album, Dethalbum IV , arriving around the same time.

According to the press release, the film picks up after the rescue of Toki Wartooth, and frontman Nathan Explosion finds himself “traumatized in a BRUTAL professional and romantic flat-spin, all while he is tasked with fulfilling the prophecy and confronting the ultimate songwriting challenge to save the planet.”

In addition to Metalocalypse creators Brendon Small and Tommy Blancha, the film is set to star some major heavy metal luminaries including King Diamond, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, and Amy Lee of Evanescence. Other notable actors on the cast include Mark Hamill, Jon Hamm, and Malcolm McDowell.

The Metalocalypse movie has been a long time coming. The cult animated show originally aired on Adult Swim from 2006 through 2013 before being unceremoniously cancelled before Small and Blancha could finish the main story arc. Rumors of a standalone film circulated in the years to follow, with Small finally announcing that a Metalocalypse movie was in the works in 2021. It is being produced by produced by Titmouse, Adult Swim, and Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

Dethklok is a vitual death metal band featured on the animated Adult Swim television show Metalocalypse, created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha.

With billions of fanatical metal fans who risk their lives to witness the sheer brilliance of Dethklok, the band is made up of visionary frontman Nathan Explosion, lead guitarist Skwisgaar Skwigelf, rhythm guitarist Toki Wartooth, drummer Pickles and bassist William Murderface. To offset the daily incompetence of the bands’ members, manager and lawyer Charles Foster Offdense assists the band in nearly all tasks from going shopping to maintaining social relationships.

Being a virtual band and having a membership limited to fictitious characters it would be easy to write Dethklok off as a huge joke, but they’re not. Admittedly a generous pinch of salt is advised but for the most part they do all the things a real band does.

In 2007 Dethklok announced a promotional tour with real band …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead. The tour consisted of playing twelve U.S. college campuses and featured lead singer Brendon Small who voices Explosion, Skwigelf and Pickles, guitarist Mike Keneally, bassist Bryan Beller and drummer Gene Hogan. Describing the experience Brendon Small used the words “a Disney ride but with murder” and referenced the band Gorillaz who too have an animated representation of band members.

In 2008 Dethklok toured with Chimaera and Soilent Green and during a show at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA, U.S. a fire broke out and fans in the audience were reluctant to leave thinking it was part of the dramatic, disaster-driven style of the band in their fictional universe. It was not. Dethklok had a similarly busy 2009 with another tour alongside the likes of Mastadon, High on Fire and Converge and a free show at San Diego Comic Con on July 13, 2012.

Dethklok have released a handful of albums since their inception. These include their 2007 album “The Dethalbum”, 2009’’s “Dethalbum II”, 2012’s “Dethalbum III” and 2013’s “The Doomstar Requiem”. The band has also received the award for Best International Band at the 2009 Revolver Golden God Awards and in 2013 the album “Dethalbum III won an Independent Music Award for Best Metal/Hardcore Album, which is more than most real bands can claim.

Live reviews

Is there such a thing as a virtual band? That’s certainly the category that Gorillaz have claimed to fall into all these years, although whether that’s actually truly been the case is probably up for debate, bearing in mind that the narratives that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett actually created for their animated characters was usually a muddled, half-baked one. That’s not really an accusation you can reasonably level at Dethklok, who come fron an impressive background conceptually; they appeared on the Adult Swim cartoon Metalocalypse, and went on to prove so popular that an actual, real-life band was assembled to tour the world playing their songs. They’ve gone from strength to strength since, releasing four full-length albums - the most recent dropping last years - and touring extensively. Their shows tend to be ridiculously technical affairs, as evidenced by a slew of U.S. dates throughout 2012; they brought their trademark warped sense of humour to the table, as well as some furious riffery, to delight their American fans. Their British counterparts, however, have been waiting a while for some new shows; they’ll be hoping some are pencilled in sooner rather than later, in support of last year’s The Doomstar Requiem.

Dethklok and BABYMETAL Announce 2023 North American Co-Headlining Tour

Dethklok will also return with the movie Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar and a new studio LP Dethalbum IV

Dethklok of Metalocalypse fame and BABYMETAL have announced a co-headlining 2023 North American tour with support from guitar virtuoso Jason Richardson.

Affectionately dubbed the “BABYKLOK tour,” trek kicks off August 30th in Houston and runs through October 11th in Los Angeles. Along the way, the bands will also make stops at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival on September 10th in Alton, Virginia; the Louder Than Life festival on September 23rd in Louisville, Kentucky; and the Aftershock festival on October 7th in Sacramento, California.

Tickets are available via StubHub , where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

In other Dethklok news, the highly anticipated feature film Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar is set for a release later this year, along with an accompanying original soundtrack and a new Dethklok studio album, Dethalbum IV , arriving around the same time.

According to the press release, the film picks up after the rescue of Toki Wartooth, and frontman Nathan Explosion finds himself “traumatized in a BRUTAL professional and romantic flat-spin, all while he is tasked with fulfilling the prophecy and confronting the ultimate songwriting challenge to save the planet.”

In addition to Metalocalypse creators Brendon Small and Tommy Blancha, the film is set to star some major heavy metal luminaries including King Diamond, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, and Amy Lee of Evanescence. Other notable actors on the cast include Mark Hamill, Jon Hamm, and Malcolm McDowell.

The Metalocalypse movie has been a long time coming. The cult animated show originally aired on Adult Swim from 2006 through 2013 before being unceremoniously cancelled before Small and Blancha could finish the main story arc. Rumors of a standalone film circulated in the years to follow, with Small finally announcing that a Metalocalypse movie was in the works in 2021. It is being produced by produced by Titmouse, Adult Swim, and Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

BABYMETAL And DETHKLOK Announce 'Babyklok' Summer/Fall 2023 North American Co-Headline Tour

Japanese metal band BABYMETAL has announced a co-headline tour with DETHKLOK , the on-screen heavy metal band and stars of Adult Swim 's "Metalocalypse" , and support from virtuoso guitarist Jason Richardson . BABYMETAL 's first time back to the U.S. since before the pandemic, the 29-date Live Nation -produced "Babyklok" trek will kick off August 30 in Houston, Texas, hitting Atlanta, Nashville, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, and many more before wrapping October 11 at Los Angeles's YouTube Theater. The tour will support BABYMETAL 's recent, first-ever concept album "The Other One" .

A special BLABBERMOUTH.NET presale will begin on Wednesday, April 12 at 7:00 a.m. local time and end on Thursday, April 13 at 10:00 p.m. local time. Earlier this month, BABYMETAL announced the addition of a new third member, Momoko Okazaki , who will go by the name of Momometal .

Okazaki had been a member of BABYMETAL 's trio of backup dancers (along with Kano Fujihira and Riho Sayashi ),known as " Avengers ", since 2019, following the departure of one of BABYMETAL 's original members, Yuimetal , in October 2018.

Momoko 's addition to BABYMETAL was announced during the band's show at the Pia Arena MM in Okazaki, Japan.

Momoko was once a member of SAKURA GAKUIN and participated in South Korean reality TV show "Girls Planet 999" as a contestant. However, the singer left the series after the show's first elimination round.

In 2018, BABYMETAL announced the departure of Yuimetal , who was formerly one of the members of the Japanese group's core trio. She exited the band, explaining in a statement that she would go on to pursue a solo career as Mizuno Yu .

BABYMETAL was formed in 2010. Their mission was to unify the world through heavy metal by creating a fusion of heavy metal and the Japanese pop genre. Their music contains a stunning mix of electronic pop, a pinch of alternative and industrial rock, and is leveled up by fast-driven heavy metal. Their live shows are ground-breaking and epic visual as well as sound performances. BABYMETAL continued to travel the path of metal with the international release of their three albums, telling the story of the mighty Fox God and his brave metal warriors.

A book about the first ten years of BABYMETAL , "Bessatsu Kadokawa Souryoku Tokushuu" , was released in Japan in October 2020. It contains a long interview with Su-metal and Moametal as well as never-before-heard stories from band producer Kobametal from BABYMETAL 's decade-long history, photos taken from live shows, a discussion between Demon Kakka and Kobametal , and much more.

BABYMETAL 's latest concept album "The Other One" , was released on March 24.

On the heels of the tour announcement comes the news of the long-awaited return of "Metalocalypse" . In addition to DETHKLOK hitting the road, a full-length original film, written and directed by DETHKLOK 's Brendon Small , "Metalocalypse: Army Of The Doomstar" , a companion soundtrack and "Dethalbum IV" will also arrive this year.

Dethklok Plot First Tour in 10 Years, Co-Headliner With Babymetal, Promise ‘Dethalbum IV’

Dethklok, the brutal band of  Adult Swim 's  Metalocalypse  spearheaded by shredder mastermind Brendon Small , will return to the road this summer for their first proper tour in a decade. The 2023 "BABYKLOK" package finds them trekking across North America with co-headliners Babymetal .

"I'm so excited to get on the road with the powerful Babymetal," Small says, "and to celebrate all the hard work that team Metalocalypse and Dethklok put in over the last two years and beyond!"

Dethklok revealed the tour with Babymetal on Tuesday (April 11) in an announcement that also promised two further Deathklok albums, one of which is a soundtrack to an upcoming Dethklok film, Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar . The non-soundtrack effort is the anticipated  Dethalbum IV . Release dates are forthcoming.  Read more about those here.

The BABYKLOK tour is Dethklok's first extended live outing in over a decade. Since 2019, Dethklok have  played only one show , at 2022's Adult Swim Festival . Their last nationwide tour was in 2012.

Metalocalypse , the original series Small co-created, first premiered on Adult Swim in 2006 and established a metal audience with its lovable cartoon band of mischievous musicians.

In late 2007, Adult Swim organized a promotional tour featuring Dethklok and ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead . The tour comprised performances at twelve college campuses, with tickets available to students only (except for 50 tickets set aside for the UCLA show in the Los Angeles area). The band featured Brendon Small, guitarist Mike Keneally, bassist Bryan Beller and drummer Gene Hoglan. Tour information was made available on Adult Swim's promotional site. In an interview with Ultimate Guitar, Brendon Small described the tour as being "like Gorillaz, with the animated characters" with Small's ensemble of musicians performing visibly.

In a February 2008 interview on California radio station Indie 103.1 with Full Metal Jackie , plans for a summer 2008 tour were announced. Brendon Small described the tour as being like "a Disney ride but with murder." Dethklok toured the US in June and early July with Chimaira and Soilent Green . In April 2008, 27 seven dates were announced.

The band was scheduled to co—headline a tour in North America with Lamb of God (with special guest Gojira) in August 2012; this tour was cancelled due to bail hearings at the time for Randy Blythe in the Czech Republic. As part of the tour Dethklok was scheduled to play in Toronto, Ontario at the Heavy T.O. festival on August 11, 2012, and also in Montreal, QC at Heavy MTL Festival on August 12, 2012; however, Dethklok's appearances at both festivals were cancelled. Dethklok was also scheduled to play the main stage for both days of Knotfest on August 17 and 18, 2012; however, Dethklok's appearance was cancelled.

• ↑ Last night June 6th a small electrical fire stopped the show stopped the DETHKLOK show from happening— everyone was evacuated safely and most importantly NO ONE WAS hurt. The band was ready and excited to play especially because the Fillmore is an amazing and legendary kick ass venue. Ultimately the cops/fire department deemed the situation unsafe to perform and canceled the show— not the band, not the venue but the cops. The band was incredibly disappointed to find they couldn't play. But again most importantly NOBODY GOT HURT. The people in suits are trying to find out what to do— hopefully there will be a rescheduled show. Do please check with THE FILLMORE'S website as they will be posting news as it comes to them. DETHKLOK and BABYMETAL announce North American tour

One of the coolest metal tours of the year has been announced. Today (April 11th),  Dethklok  —  the real-life incarnation of the  Metalocalypse  cartoon band — and Japanese kawaii-metal titans  Babymetal  have revealed they're teaming up for a co-headlining trek across North America later this year, with support from guitarist Jason Richardson (Chelsea Grin, Born of Osiris, All Shall Perish). 

Playfully dubbed the "Babyklok Tour," this will mark Dethklok's first actual tour in 11 (!) years, and it'll be Babymetal's first North American trek since 2019 — and therefore their first U.S. dates with newly-appointed third member, Momometal. 

The tour kicks off August 30th in Houston and travels throughout the U.S. — as well as a couple dates up in Canada — before concluding October 11th in Los Angeles. General tickets to on sale Friday April 14th at 10 a.m. local time, but Revolver subscribers can get theirs on Wednesday April 12th by using the code "REVOLVE." Get yours here .

The news arrives the same day Adult Swim announced that a new Metalocalypse movie, soundtrack and Dethklok album, Dethklok IV — their first since 2012's Dethklok III — will all be arriving later this year.

Animated metal band Dethklok brings tour with Babymetal to the Masonic for two nights

The popular death metal band led by Brendan Small, the creative force behind popular Adult Swim animated show "Metalocalypse," Dethklok comes to the Masonic in San Francisco for two shows with co-headliners Babymetal.

Arguably the second most popular virtual band behind Gorillaz (the animated group helmed by Blur singer Damon Albarn), Dethklok made their as the stars of "Metalocalypse" when the show created by Small and partner/voice actor Tommy Blancha debuted in 2006. The world biggest death metal band in the program's absurd and surreal alternate universe, Dethklok stands as the planet's seventh largest economy despite the fact that the group's members are idiotic incompetents incapable of doing anything besides writing and performing brutal metal songs.

The quintet of singer Nathan Explosion (who was inspired by Cannibal Corpse vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher), guitarists Skwisgaar Skwigelf and Toki Wartooth, bassist William Murderface and drummer Pickles live and work in their massive fortress-like home and studio Mordhaus, venturing into the world to secure lucrative sponsorship deals and play huge concerts for their legions of fanatical followers with outlandish stage theatrics like over-the-top pyrotechnics, lasers and a giant swinging pendulum blade, inevitably resulting in widespread death and destruction.

Over the course of four seasons and a special broadcast on Adult Swim, "Metalocalypse" became one of the network's more popular shows and a favorite among musicians, with such notable figures as King Diamond, Alice Cooper, Jon Hamm, Werner Herzog, Jack Black and members of Metallica, Exodus, Emperor and Mastodon appearing on the show. Dethklok further built on its fanbase with a series of studio albums featuring the satirical songs featured the show like "Murmaider," "Bloodrocuted" and "Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle." The band also delivered entertaining live performances with widescreen clips of the animated band projected behind Small and his talented band including monster drummer Gene Hogland (Dark Angel, Death, Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Devin Townsend) and former Frank Zappa collaborator Mike Kenneally on guitar.

Dethklok would make regular festival appearances and tour with the likes of Mastodon, High On Fire, Machine Head and the Black Dahlia Murder. After the broadcast of the hour-long rock opera special, "Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem" in 2013, the band continued to perform, but the project went on hiatus after the show was cancelled two years later.

The band returned to action in 2019, playing the Adult Swim Festival to ecstatic crowds. Dethklok also returned to the festival post-pandemic in 2022. The following year, Smalls was at last able to release the final chapter in the Dethklok story with the film Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar , which was accompanied by both a soundtrack and the band issuing its acclaimed fourth studio recording,  Dethalbum IV .

With the show having run its course, the band's current tour could be Dethklok's last hurrah as it takes to the road with previous touring partners and co-headliners Babymetal which stops at the Masonic for two nights starting Wednesday . A sensation in their native Japan since first forming in 2010, the group mixes elements of heavy metal with elements of J-Pop and "kawaii" -- the Japanese "culture of cuteness" as exemplified by Hello Kitty and Pokemon. Singer Suzuka Nakamoto had impressed producer Kobametal (aka Key Kobayashi) in her earlier girl groups Karen Girl's and Sakura Gakuin when he wanted to start a new band performing a heavier style of music.

Initially a successful offshoot of Sakura Gakuin, Babymetal became independent in 2013 and enjoyed growing popularity with the release of their self-titled debut the following year. Featuring Nakamoto along with fellow singers Moa Kikuchi (also a member of Sakura Gakuin) and Yui Mizuno executing synchronized dance moves and melodic vocals backed by a group of shredding metal session players known as the Kami Band, the album delivered a dizzying juxtaposition of sunshine pop and metallic crunch. The band rocketed to success in Japan and were playing sold-out shows to thousands when the girls were still in their teens.

The notoriety in their native land soon led to international touring in Europe and North America, with Babymetal appearing at major metal festivals and opening for Lady Gaga. By the time the band was set to release their sophomore album Metal Resistance in 2016, they were headlining Wembley Arena in London and the huge Tokyo Dome to 55,000 screaming fans. More high-profile support gigs with the Red Hot Chili Peppers followed.

While the band suffered some hardship with the accidental death of guitarist Mikio Fujioka late in 2017 after he fell from an observation deck and the departure of Mizuno due to health reasons the next year, Babymetal continued to tour and in 2023 announced the addition of Momoko Okazaki as Fujioka's permanent replacement. The band plays fan favorites and songs from its fourth album The Other One  at the Masonic. Opening acts on the two nights will be different, with hyper-technical British power metal band DrangonForce playing Wednesday and theatrical LA-based melodic death metallers Nekrogoblikon kicking off the show Thursday.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans 2024 Sunday tee times, PGA Tour pairings and how to watch

With 18 holes remaining at the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, Zac Blair and Patrick Fishburn own the 54-hole lead at 23 under .

The former BYU teammates flirted with 59 on Saturday but settled for a 12-under 60 after making par on their final three holes in the best ball format.

One shot back are Luke List and Henrik Norlander at 22 under, while the Mark Hubbard/Ryan Brehm and Rory McIlroy/Shane Lowry teams are two back at 21 under.
