Charge Controller & LED information lights

Includes the New lithoum compatible OptiMate Solar Duo DM-522 D2 2 Amp smart charge controller with 4 LED panel to provide comprehensive information on charging process and battery status.

OptiMate Solar charge kits are fully automatic. Mount the panel in a suitable location to receive maximum sunlight, hook up the charger-monitor to the battery and walk away. No more battery problems.

When the panel receives sun, the SOLAR CHARGE LED blinks confirming solar power is being delivered and one of the three battery status LEDs (SAVE, CHARGE, MAINTAIN) indicates charge progress. OptiMate Solar converts low solar energy to a high pulse charge which improves solar charge efficiency. When night falls or if the smart charger-monitor senses no solar power is being delivered it changes into a battery monitor with one of the three charge status lights now indicating battery status every three seconds.

The 20W Solar Duo (12V 1.67A max.) is ideal for all vehicles with a 12V battery.

Each kit includes:

• fully weatherproof, high intensity poly crystalline solar panel
• solar panel corner mounts for easy wall or roof mounting
• 2m power cable from solar panel to charge controller (optional 4.6m extension cable available here:  Optimate Extension Cable )
• outdoor rated OptiMate Duo smart charger-controller (DM-522 D2) with a 1m charge cable
• OptiMate O-1 weatherproof battery lead - 0.5m long  (ring connectors for permanent battery connection - but easy to connect & disconnect with plug and socket included)
• OptiMate O-4 battery clamp lead - 0.5m long (crocodile clips for temporary battery connection)
• Set of four suction cups for mounting to wind screen or glass surface
• Travel bag for convenient storage/stowage.

Total length of cable from solar panel to the sae connector on the O-1 or O-4 battery lead is 3.15m (315cm).  Use of the optional 4.6m extension cable  takes this to 7.75m (775cm). In addition to this O-1 and O-4 battery leads are both 0.5m (50cm) long.

12V Solar Charger for small to medium electric fence energiser batteries

The 20W Optimate solar charger is useful for small, medium and large energisers and fencing runs. This 20W solar charger is powerful enough to meet charging requirements of larger electric fence energisers but is also useful for small electric fence systems where you cannot position the solar charger in an ideal un-shaded, south facing position or when adequate winter charging is important. The smaller 10W solar charger is likely to be underpowered for medium sized energisers when positioned in a less than perfect position particulalry in the darker winter months.

I have been using this 20W Solar Charger for four years. I keep it connected to my bike and only disconnect when I go for a ride. Throughout the winters the battery remains at optimum charge even though the bike is only started once every month. Worth the money.

Saves flat batteries from as low as 4V with its unique pulse action. Fastest charge is delivered as ‘smart charge’ control selects pulse or continuous charge according to sunlight strength. Intelligent maintenance continues the next day if battery retained charge overnight, otherwise the program reverts to OPTIMIZE step.

Battery condition is displayed every 3 seconds. Ready indication for STD, hi-performance AGM batteries and lithium LFP batteries. Draws less than 0.5mA during monitor mode. Automatically switches to CHARGE when solar power is sufficient.

The OptiMate charger-monitor controller is separate to the solar panel and can be placed close to the vehicle or battery so that charge and maintenance progress can be easily followed. The solar panel must be mounted and angled to receive direct sunlight. The reach / distance between battery and panel is 315cm / 124″. To extend, use OptiMate Cable Extenders O-03, O-13 or O-23 and insert between the solar panel and the OptiMate charge-monitor controller.

What are ‘MONITOR MODE’ and ‘CHARGE MODE’?

MONITOR MODE – When the solar panel stops delivering power (sun has gone down in the evening or cloud covers sun) the OptiMate Solar DUO controller changes to BATTERY MONITOR mode and will now indicate battery charge level every 3 seconds. LED 2, 3, 4 or 5 indicate battery charge level.

CHARGE MODE – LED #1 lights if the solar panel can deliver charge. LED #1 flashes when charge current is delivered to the battery. Speed of flashing corresponds to current delivered i.e. fast means high current, slow means low current (cloudy conditions or battery is not accepting high current). LED 2, 3, 4 or 5 indicate charge progress whilst CHARGE LED #1 is flashing. If no battery is connected only LED #1 turns on.

When is battery charged?

If the battery is sufficiently charged, LED #4 or 5 will immediately light together with LED #1 (flashing).

When battery needs charge?

If the battery needs further charging LED #2 or LED #3 will light together with LED #1 (flashing).

Saves flat batteries from as low as 4V with its unique pulse action. Fastest charge is delivered as ‘smart charge’ control selects pulse or continuous charge according to sunlight strength. Intelligent maintenance continues the next day if battery retained charge overnight, otherwise the program reverts to OPTIMIZE step.

Battery condition is displayed every 3 seconds. Ready indication for STD, hi-performance AGM and lithium LFP batteries. Draws less than 0.5mA during monitor mode. Automatically switches to CHARGE when solar power is sufficient.

The OptiMate charger-monitor controller is separate to the solar panel and can be placed close to the vehicle or battery so that charge and maintenance progress can be easily followed. The solar panel must be mounted and angled to receive direct sunlight. The reach / distance between battery and panel is 315cm / 124″. To extend, use  OptiMate Cable Extenders O-03 , O-13 , O-23 , O-43 or O-53   and insert between the solar panel and the OptiMate charge-monitor controller.
