Our Dive Company

Initially Iain and Oui both worked for various PADI dive centers in Kata and Karon in Phuket which is how we met. Eventually we decided to do our own thing so that we can offer the type of service and quality that we feel people on holiday deserve. We are completely passionate about scuba diving and are probably the only dive company owners in Phuket that teach and dive on an almost daily basis. We love to share our enthusiasm and dive experiences with students and certified scuba divers alike. Between us we have guided and taught scuba diving courses in Phuket to thousands of people from all different backgrounds, nationalities, ages and experience levels.

Phuket Dive Tours

Day trip to phi phi islands.

The islands of Phi Phi offer some of the most spectacular backdrops in Thailand and the underwater topography doesn’t disappoint either! With the combination of an abundance of marine life, clear water, gentle sloping reefs and dramatic walls dropping to 20-25m, no two dives at Phi Phi are ever the same.

Day trip to Koh Racha Noi Island

The three dive sites at Koh Racha Noi island are sheltered bays that offer calm conditions and good visibility- an ideal combination to spot turtles! With a mixture of corals, sea fans, sea whips, and fabulous granite rock formations, these sites are also excellent to spot parrotfish and yellowtail barracuda.

Day trip to King Cruiser Wreck

The ninety meters long by sixteen meters high wreck sank in 1997 and now sits on the sandy seabed at around thirty-two meters. The top of this fantastic wreck is covered with colourful corals and every nook and cranny has someone calling it home. This is a fantastic wreck dive for people who love macro photography. 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

There are a few scuba diving locations that should be on all diver’s lists when visiting Thailand. 

1: Phi Phi Islands – These limestone cliff islands are as impressive above the water as they are below. Amazing tropical coral reefs that many reef sharks call home. 2: Koh Racha Islands – These islands are a beginner divers’ dream diving location with spectacular tropical coral reefs, which are located in sheltered bays with high underwater visibility and low currents – the perfect location for the  PADI open water course .

Phi Phi islands are one of the best scuba diving locations in Southern Thailand. These islands are accessible from Phuket on our day trip boat MV Mermaid. We visit these truly remarkable islands on Tuesdays and Fridays for two dives and the third and final dive of the day is at Shark Point. Phi Phi Islands have regular sightings of leopard and black tip reef sharks ; on the walls, keep your eyes open for Sea Horses, Frog Fish , Giant Coral Fans and Hawksbill Turtles feeding on sponges.

The best scuba diving location for beginner scuba divers all year round are two islands located one and a half hours from the mainland of Phuket – The Racha Islands .  We visit Koh Racha Noi and Koh Racha Yai island for a three-dive day every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. All our PADI Open Water courses visit these remarkable islands during their three-day course.

Phuket Scuba Diving Day Trips

Day trip diving and local dive trips – similan, phuket, phi phi islands.

Without even talking about the range of longer Liveaboards available (and we do recommend you try a liveaboard!). You’ll find a wonderful variety of day trips and short liveaboard trips from Phuket heading to the Similan Islands. As well as Phi Phi and local dive sites such as Shark Point, Racha Noi Island and Koh Doc Mai. All kinds of marine life from seahorses to manta rays are out there. On this page you’ll find a quick introduction to all the local diving available here.

We have many day trip options in our program. Day trips from Phuket to the Racha Islands and Phi Phi Islands plus King Cruiser Wreck, Shark Point and Koh Doc Mai, are available year round. Similan Islands and Koh Bon day tours are available from mid-October to mid-May.

Pick up is about 7:15 – 7:30am and return at about 3:30 – 6:00pm. Transfers are included from/to hotels at Kata, Karon or Patong beach areas of Phuket. Similan day trips include transfer from and to Khao Lak or Phuket as well. Day Trips include breakfast, lunch, drinking water, many with soft drinks, fruits, weights, belts, scuba tanks and guided diving. Most dive guides these days carry underwater cameras and are happy to sell photos for around 1,000 baht.

Extra: Dive equipment 300 Baht per day full set (BCD, Reg., Wetsuit, Mask & Fins). Dive Computer 200 Baht and Dive Insurance 150 Baht if needed.

National Park Fee – Phi Phi 600 Baht/diver or 400 Baht/non-diver; Similan 700 Baht/diver or 500 Baht/non-diver (payable on board in cash).

Thailand, Myanmar & Indonesia's Best Diving Locations

The Thailand diving high season is from October to May. Many Thailand liveaboard schedules are online for the season 2023 - 2024. Our Phuket dive center is also open during low season for day trips and Diving Courses . Start planning your dive trip now! Liveaboard Diving in Thailand is as popular as ever - early booking is highly recommended, especially for the more popular boats, though you can sometimes find last minute trips. There are also several boats with trips into the remote Mergui Archipelago in Burma (Myanmar).

Indonesia (Komodo and Raja Ampat) liveaboard schedules are also online right through 2023. Komodo is the best place to dive during the summer May - October. Raja Ampat is the best Indonesia option from November - April. If you are looking for a liveaboard in Thailand, Burma or Indonesia, we hope to hear from you soon!

The Best Scuba Diving Phuket Has to Offer!

Hotel pick-ups for our Phuket diving day trips start at 7:15 am from Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata and some areas of Chalong and Rawai. From other areas we can arrange transfers but there may be a small charge. Diving day trips to Phi Phi from Phuket return to Chalong Pier at around 6:15 pm and our Racha Noi and Yai diving day trip returns at around 5:15 pm.

Our day trips operate 364 days a year.

Similarly, our Phuket wreck diving trip to the King Cruiser returns to the pier slightly earlier at around 5:00 pm. All our Phuket dive trips include three dives, with dive sites chosen on the day according to conditions. Our Phi Phi day trip from Phuket schedules two dives at Phi Phi, with the third dive at either Shark Point, Anemone Reef, or Koh Doc Mai. Likewise, guests taking our Phuket wreck diving day trip will dive at the King Cruiser wreck which sank in 1997 and have two further dives at either Shark Point, Anemone Reef, or Koh Doc Mai. Our diving day trip to Racha Noi and Racha Yai normally schedules the first two dives at Racha Noi, with the third and final dive at Racha Yai. Finally, also includes dives at either Shark Point, Anemione Reef, or Koh Doc Mai.

Do I Need to Know How To Swim to Scuba Dive?

This is a question that I often get asked, and really it is not as simple as YES or NO. Here is some explanations and reasons why. If you want to become a certified scuba diver by doing the PADI Open Water Diver Course, the answer is yes. In the PADI Open Water Diver Course it is specified that you have to be able to swim continuously for 200 metres. This can be with any stroke however it does need to be continuous without stopping. There is alternate option and that is you do a 300 metre mask, fin and snorkel swim. Some do find this easier to the 200 swim. Many people to come to Phuket because they’ve heard about amazing liveaboard diving in the Similan islands, but not all realize just how good the day tour diving from Phuket is! Yes! Book a liveaboard diving trip and we’re sure you’ll have great time, but please don’t underestimate diving from Phuket , a few day tours maybe add up to your best diving experience!

Phuket Diving At Its Best!

Diving from Phuket on a day tour sometimes offers more abundant and diverse marine life than the liveaboards (when you do 3 dives at each of the 3 main destinations – see our Special Offer Package s on our Prices Page), plus you get to return to land for an entertaining evening and a cozy hotel room.

The 3 main day tour destinations are all a little different , with different micro-environments and therefore different creatures to see. Some sites are more suitable for advanced divers and others for beginners … And some you don’t even have to be able to swim to try diving at! (See our Discover Scuba Diving prices).

Sites For Diving From Phuket

Racha noi and racha yai.

Racha Noi has easy diving conditions, similar to Racha Yai, but being a bigger island has more sites to dive. The east side has a mixture of boulder reefs and hard corals, with white sands in-between and on the slopes. The west side is more rocky with slightly different hard corals but less sandy areas. On the very south of Racha Noi is quite a special dive site called South Tip. For more advanced divers, this can be a tougher dive when currents are strong, but because of this and it’s greater range of depth (10-12m to beyond recreational diving depths), it is one of the best dive sites for seeing giant Manta Rays. Because Racha Yai is the destination most used for beginner courses, it’s often overlooked for really good diving. There are very pretty hard corals up in the shallows, a bunch of easy wrecks to dive, and the artificial reef, while not pretty in itself, has some cool and rarer critters hiding in it… there’s even interesting things to see in the sands! And best of all, it’s multiple dive sites are usually calm, clear and easy to dive, which makes appreciateing it all much easier, both for beginner divers and even experienced divers who want something else to see.

The Phi Phi Islands

Koh Phi Phi Islands

There are actually 6 islands that are considered as “The Phi Phi Islands”, however the 3 southern islands are dived the most often: Koh Bida Nok, Koh Bida Nai and Koh Phi Phi Ley (“Koh” means “island”). On special days, the big and very good site of Hin Bida may be dived, but it’s a little further east of the main islands. Phi Phi Ley is the 2nd largest island and has multiple sites for diving, the dive sites on the west perhaps considered to be better: Turtle Rock/Bay (for Hawksbill Turtles and nice macro), Palong Wall (for Blacktip Reef Sharks) and Mushroom Rock (for soft corals, sharks and turtles). There are also some fabulous cavern and caves to explore for those with the right certification/experience.

Koh Bida Nok & Nai

Koh Bida Nok is arguably one of Phi Phi’s best dives! It’s big enough to for 2 dives and its combination of hard coral and boulder reefs, with a soft coral wall, overhangs and pinnacles, can provide Blacktip Reef Sharks, huge schools of fish, and sometimes the odd turtle amongst all multitude of other marine life. Sometimes it also has visits from Whale Sharks! Koh Bida Nai is a slightly smaller island, just north of Bida Nok. It offers similar diving to Koh Bida Nok, just on a smaller scale. However, there are some types of marine life here that Bida Nok either doesn’t have (yet) or is more common, such as Tomato Clown Fish and Bent Stick Pipefish.

King Cruiser Day Tour

King Cruiser Wreck

The King Cruiser sank in 1997, after hitting the dive site of Anemone Reef. Fortunately, everyone survived is slow sinking and it’s now one of Phuket’s best dive sites for advanced or experienced divers. 75m long, 25m wide, 18m at its shallowest and 32m at its deepest, it’s a fabulous wreck, with lots of colorful soft coral, huge schools of fish and macro-life. Often a great experience during an Advanced Open Water course!

Shark Point

Shark Point (or Hin Musang as it’s know locally), is named as such for the Zebra Sharks that may be seen here. With or without the sharks, it’s all-round one of the best sites for diving from Phuket! It’s a big dive site, consisting of 3 main pinnacles, and you’d likely need a few dives to cover most of it. The pinnacles are covered in a multitude of soft and hard corals, Barrel Sponges and Gorgonian Sea-fans, with a great variety of marine life. Amazing on the right day!

Koh Doc Mai

Koh Doc Mai is a wonderful wall dive, adding even more variety to a great diving day trip! Certainly it has to be one of the best dive sites for macro marine-life and there’s a lot of color provided by sea-fans in the shallows. There are Moray Eels, big shoals of fish and often schools of Chevron and Yellow-tail Barracuda, but perhaps the most interesting things to look for are the Grey Bamboo Sharks, Tiger-Tail Seahorses and even the odd turtle!

Reasons to shore dive phuket.

If you don’t have a full day , get sea-sick easily, want a night dive, or just an easy day dive, then shore diving from Phuket’s beautiful beaches is for you! And though it maybe best to dive during the high-season, with our dive center at the private Paradise Beach, we can shore dive almost the whole year round! And you may just tick off some critters from your bucket list!

Shore diving from Phuket’s beaches

Although, to get the most out of a shore dive, it’s best to check the tides, currents, weather relative to the location (just as with any diving), shore diving can cater for just about all levels of diver . And believe it or not, shore diving in Phuket can offer some rare and very special marine-life that you may not even find on day trip dives!

Night diving from Phuket’s beaches

Apart from on Thailand’s Liveaboards, night diving here is rarely done by boat. But night diving from Phuket’s beaches, especially in high-season, is both easy and can be a whole new experience! On a night dive, not only can the normal sea creatures behave and seem quite different, but the colours just seem to ‘pop’ much more in front of the dive lights. And just as there can be new things to see on a shore dive, it’s even more the case on a night dive, when all sorts of weird & wonderful critters can creep out from the shore’s reefs, rocks and sands.

Is shore diving better?

So should you go shore diving instead of taking a day trips from Phuket? Well, if you want clear water, easy diving and different marine life to see , then dive the Racha Islands. And for big schools of fish and maybe sharks & turtles , do a diving tour to Phi Phi. Then with even more variety and colour , dives at the King Cruiser Wreck, Shark Point & Koh Doc Mai can be truly amazing! But if you want a different Phuket diving experience and you’ve dove the other sites, then maybe a shore dive is the right choice for you!

If you have never heard of diving in Phi Phi Island, you are now taken to know the heaven underwater of Thailand. Phi Phi is home for various hard corals and soft corals. And those delicate and hard corals bring all kinds of aquatic animals to the Phi Phi dive site. Sea turtles are also common to be seen in this area too.

You can do this day trip with 3 dives at Phi Phi and Shark Point almost every day in high season. This trip generally includes two dives on Phi Phi, generally on Koh Bida Nok and Koh Bida Nai, which are located in the south of the Phi Phi Islands, but sometimes Palong Wall on Phi Phi Le Island. The third dive of the day takes place at Shark Point or at Anemone Reef. These dive sites are located between Phi Phi and Phuket.

The day trip boat takes about two and a half hours to reach Phi Phi Leh, giving you enough time for breakfast, preparing equipment, meeting and relaxing before diving. Diving in Phi Phi is suitable for all levels of divers. Beginners can dive into the shallow areas, while experienced divers have deeper waters to explore. There is nothing very deep here; the maximum depth is around 28 to 30 meters with beautiful soft corals even in shallow areas.

Phi Phi is perhaps the best diving site in the area where you can discover sharks. There are often tiger sharks and reef sharks. Phuket is a world class tourist destination blessed with world class diving. You can learn to dive in Phuket in just two days. If you don’t have time to learn you can try diving on a one day Discover Scuba diving tour, it’s an experience you’ll treasure forever. Or if you’re already a certified diver there are plenty of choices for fun diving , either on a day trip or on an extended liveaboard to the outer islands.

Why Phuket diving? The mix of dive sites that can be reached from Phuket includes reefs, wrecks, walls, boulders, plateaus, pinnacles, caves, caverns, swim throughs.

South East Asian seas are the most bio-diverse in the world. You can see anything from tiny purple fire gobies to giant whale sharks.

Phuket dive boats offer high quality standards and safety features. Dives are guided by PADI professionals.

You can do world class diving in the day and be back in your luxury resort by evening. Or you can stay in a backpacker hostel. You can eat in a 5 star restaurant or from a cart on the street, either way the food will be delicious.

You can relax on a tranquil beach or party the night away in Patong. You can max out your credit card in a world class shopping mall, or find a bargain at the night market. You can visit a 5 star spa retreat, or get a foot massage at the roadside.

Why Thailand diving? Thailand is the most popular learn to dive destination in the world. And experienced divers come back year after year. A big part of that is the Thai people. Thai’s are friendly and welcoming. Thailand is a very safe country to travel in. Thai food is amazing! Thailand has excellent infrastructure for transportation and hospitals. Thailand dive sites are accessible from the main tourist resorts. You don’t need to trek for days to a remote location, you can have it all. Thailand has plenty to do for non divers and family members too.

Phuket liveaboard diving

Phuket International airport (HKT) is the airport of arrival for divers doing liveaboard safaris to the Similan Islands, Surin Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock. Most liveaboards depart from Khao Lak which is just 70 minutes taxi ride from Phuket. Phuket liveaboards also head into the south Andaman to dive the amazing Hin Daeng, Hin Muang, Koh Haa and Phi Phi Islands.

A multi day liveaboard safari is the best way to get the best diving at the best dive sites at the best times. A liveaboard maximizes your chances of seeing manta rays and whale sharks.

The Similan Island liveaboard season is from November to April. You can do a trip as short as 2 days 1 night although we would recommend 3 or 4 nights to get around all the best dive sites in the Similan and Surin archipelagos.
