Liverpool tickets: How to get tickets for Anfield

Here's how to get Liverpool tickets if you're looking to get to Merseyside for a game at Anfield any time soon

Liverpool tickets: How to get tickets for Anfield: Liverpool squad and backroom staff celebrate in front of the Kop after winning the UEFA Champions league semi-final second leg football match between Liverpool and Barcelona 4-0 at Anfield in Liverpool, north west England on May 7, 2019.

How to get Liverpool tickets

Hospitality.

How to get Liverpool tickets has been the question on the red side of the city ever since Jurgen Klopp rocked up and transformed this famous old giant of football into its modern form.

While most of the 11 players on the pitch have changed over the past decade or so, however, the 12th man in the stands is as ferocious as it always has been. Ranked at No.18 in FourFourTwo's Best Stadiums in the World list, Anfield is arguably the greatest atmosphere in football, the Kop in song is one of the wonders of the football world and this stunning stadium has delivered some of the most iconic nights in the history of the sport over nearly a century and a half. It's one of the hottest Premier League tickets and Europa League tickets around.

Anfield holds around 54,000 but is set to be expanded even further. It's one for any football fan's bucket list, too. Here's FourFourTwo's complete guide of how and where you can get tickets, to find yourself singing You'll Never Walk Alone with a scarf raised aloft in the Kop with the rest of the clan. It's simply one of the best football tickets in the world.

How to get Liverpool tickets for Anfield

“Liverpool is one of the most welcoming cities I’ve ever been to: I did all the tourist stuff of visiting Beatles museums and the Cavern Club when I went. But Anfield is simply out of this world – whether you’re in the Kop or not, seeing the Liverpool faithful in full voice is something you’ll never forget. It’s tough to get tickets but if you can, make sure you get there for a European fixture. It’s arguably the most iconic venue in sport after sunset.”

Where can I buy Liverpool tickets?

All Liverpool tickets are available to buy through LiverpoolFC.com .

When do Liverpool tickets go on sale?

Liverpool have a Bulk Members Sale twice a season – followed by Additional Members Sales two weeks before a game.

"The majority of Premier League home match tickets are sold in two key periods each season," Liverpool say in their official guide. "During these two weeks, tickets are available exclusively for Official Members to buy online.

"The first Members' Ticket Sale week takes place in July and gives Members the chance to purchase tickets for games in the first half of the Premier League season, up until January. The second Members' Ticket Sale week takes place in November and gives Members the opportunity to buy tickets for games for the second half of the season, from January through to May."

Additional Members Sales on a match-by-match basis then take place before each home game. This is where members can snap up tickets ahead of games that still haven't been sold.

If you are a local member – that's anyone with an L postcode – tickets will be available online approximately four weeks before a match. Should tickets go on general sale, they will be available approximately one week before the game.

Liverpool can't put them up for sale any further away, due to Premier League kick-off times changing. Fixtures could also be moved after you've bought your tickets.

Be sure to check LiverpoolFC.com depending on the fixture in question.

Do I need to become a member of Liverpool to get tickets?

No – although does help.

"For the majority of games demand for tickets significantly exceeds supply, with most fixtures selling out well in advance of the actual day of the game," Liverpool claim on their site. Tickets will go on sale to members first, before going on general sale, meaning that you stand a better chance if you're a member of the club.

Note: it's one ticket per membership. Membership commences every June. You can register your interest here .

How do I get Liverpool away tickets?

Away tickets are sold on a points basis, with fans who go to more matches rewarded with more points. Liverpool have very little information about purchasing away tickets on their site but information for tickets can be found at LiverpoolFC.com .

Liverpool stadium FAQs

Why is liverpool's stadium called anfield.

Anfield is named after the surrounding area. The word originated from a combination of Old and Middle English words, meaning "a field on a slope".

Was Anfield built for Everton?

Yes. From 1884-1892, Everton played at Anfield and even won the ground's first title, in 1891.

Why do England never play at Anfield?

Anfield doesn't meet the conditions needed to host England games, Champions League or Europa League finals. UEFA demand that host grounds have a 105m x 68m pitch.

What is the Kop?

In football stadia, a kop is defined as being a single-tiered stand – with Liverpool's Anfield Kop being the most famous example.

The steep nature resembles the Spion Kop, a hill near Ladysmith, South Africa, which was the scene of the Battle of Spion Kop during the Second Boer War in 1900.

Was You'll Never Walk Alone written for Liverpool?

No. Merseyside pop group Gerry and the Pacemakers released the hit in the 1960s, which was performed at Anfield one Saturday. When fans asked for it to be played regularly, Liverpool obliged.

Is Anfield being rebuilt?

Liverpool's stadium is currently undergoing renovations as they look to increase the ground's capacity from 54,000 to 61,000.

Why Taylor Swift may have fewer fans at Anfield than Liverpool gets at games

L iverpool has faced something of a stalling start in making Anfield one of the country's premier music destinations during the football (soccer) close season. It has certainly secured a major coup this year in hosting three nights of Taylor Swift's vastly successful Eras Tour — but it is unlikely to be able to operate at maximum capacity .

Anfield was first cleared to host summer concerts in 2018, when the council signed off on the club's proposal. Pink, Bon Jovi and Take That kicked things off the following year, but the pandemic then halted the ambitious revenue-generating plans of Liverpool owners FSG .

Live music returned in 2022. Liverpool again attracted some major names, with the Rolling Stones, Eagles and Elton John all performing at Anfield. But Swift arrives after yet another hosting hiatus at the home of the Reds, with the summer of 2023 set aside to carry out expansion plans at the ground.

READ MORE: Liverpool transfer news as Arne Slot could get $27m ace after Man Utd snub amid wonderkid 'talks'

That work faced delays, but was completed before the end of Liverpool's 2023/24 season. A near-capacity crowd of 60,059 watched Jürgen Klopp's final game in charge.

However, Anfield is unlikely to be able to welcome as many Swift fans on each night of the Eras Tour. As part of its 2018 agreement with the council, Liverpool capped concert attendance at 50,000 ( BBC ), amid concerns from local residents over noise and disruption.

That was a temporary two-year license, which has now been extended indefinitely . While there is no specific cap on attendances included within the terms of the permanent license, Liverpool is required to submit an Event Management Plan ahead of every concert, including estimated attendances, and detailing plans for things like traffic management.

There's a strong chance that Liverpool will again have to drop below Anfield's maximum (and now expanded) capacity when hosting Swift, as it seeks to balance the interests of all relevant parties. Official attendance figures have not yet been made public.

But Swift and the club have done all they can to maximize the number of fans who can attend the only English leg of the Eras Tour outside London. An initial two-night run at Anfield was extended to three, with performances on each night from June 13-15.

Liverpool.com says: It remains to be seen exactly what kind of capacity Liverpool is allowed to operate for the Swift concerts, but there's little doubt it will have done everything in its power to maximize the number of fans who can safely attend. Clearly, it is a sizeable number, or else top acts such as these would not be attracted to the venue.

Anfield may not be able to operate at maximum capacity when Taylor Swift comes to Liverpool.

Mo Salah: Final verdict reached on Liverpool future as star sends Arne Slot huge message

Mo Salah has outlined his decision to stay at Liverpool to Arne Slot

Mo Salah has outlined his decision to stay at Liverpool to Arne Slot

Mo Salah has seemingly made clear his future plans amid talk of a move to the Saudi Pro-League with the talismanic Liverpool star sending a strong message to new incoming new Reds boss Arne Slot.

The Merseysiders are preparing for what they hope will be a bright new era at Anfield with Dutch coach Slot chosen as the man to step into Jurgen Klopp’s sizeable shoes. And while the German walked away last week as a bona fide club legend, Liverpool will hope that the transition from one era to another will not see them suffer the decline in fortunes many observers expect.

The new period at Anfield will be overseen by Michael Edwards, who has been brought back to Anfield in a CEO of football role. His first two assignments have been the massive appointments of Richard Hughes as their new sporting director and Slot as the first-team manager in succession to Klopp.

Indeed, Slot himself has been chosen due to the similar man-management techniques to Klopp, as well as the tactics and formations in how he plays the game.

GO DEEPER   🔴  👉  Six Liverpool issues Arne Slot needs to fix next season to turn Reds into title challengers

However, any manager is only as good as the players at his disposal and Slot will be desperate to ensure many of the leading figures under Klopp remain at Anfield for the forseeable future.

And with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Salah all on deals that are due to expire in 2025, nailing the trio down to extensions will be Edwards’ next port of call this summer.

The case around Salah is particularly pertinent, with the winger the subject of an intense campaign to get him to move to the Saudi Pro-League an ongoing theme.

Mo Salah to Saudi Arabia: Transfer put on ice – for now

Indeed, with Al-Ittihad having seen a £150m offer for Salah rejected last summer, they are still on the Egyptian’s trail and hope to lure him to the Gulf State with an incredible salary package worth around £1.5m per week – a deal that would make him the highest-paid sportsman on the planet.

However, we understand Salah has now decided to shelve any plans to move for now and will remain loyal for at least the duration of his current contract – and could yet even sign a new deal if he likes the direction the club are heading in under Slot.

That said, a future move to the Saudi Pro-League cannot be ruled out either, with Al-Ittihad now prepared to wait a year for his signature and in the belief they could lure him to the Middle East as a free agent in summer 2025.

Such a move would put the ball firmly in Liverpool’s court, with the Reds under pressure to either tie him to a new deal, or potentially accept an offer on his services this summer if they do not want to lose their star man on a free transfer in a year’s time.

DON’T MISS   🔴  👉  Mo Salah: Liverpool superstar’s most outrageous stats which show Slot why he’s simply irreplaceable

Salah has scored an incredible 211 goals in 349 appearances over seven seasons at Anfield, scoring 25 or more in all but one of those campaigns.

Salah communicates Liverpool verdict to Arne Slot

Either way, former Reds midfielder Vladimir Smicer believes Salah has looked after himself that well that he continue playing well into his late thirties, meaning the 31-year-old can afford to wait before moving to the Middle East.

“He’s got one more year on his contract so it’s about seeing what his plans are, physically he looks like he could pay for another three or four years. Just look at Cristiano Ronaldo, he’s still playing at 39 and hasn’t lost his legs. Salah could do the same,” Smicer explained.

On his future, Smicer added: “It’s a very tough situation with Mohamed Salah, he may be getting older but he’s still Liverpool’s best striker, scoring so many goals and breaking records.

“Of course the new manager is coming in and it will be a tough decision, but he deserves so much respect for what he has done for Liverpool. I would let him decide what he wants to do this summer. Never force him out of Anfield.”

Salah, though, has seemingly decided to stay at Anfield for the time being at least and to play what he hopes will be a leading role in the Slot era.

Making clear his loyalty to the Reds on his Instagram page and after posting a new look with his trademark afro shaved off, Salah posted the message: “We know that trophies are what count and we will do everything possible to make that happen next season. Our fans deserve it and we will fight like hell.”

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed to return to Anfield

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp returns to Anfield for Taylor Swift concert. Reflecting on his legacy, fans eagerly await his presence.

Jurgen Klopp Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp , Liverpool 's former manager, will quickly return to Anfield to attend Taylor Swift's concert . Just weeks after bidding an emotional farewell to Liverpool, Klopp and his wife Ulla will return to the iconic stadium to enjoy Swift's performance during her Eras Tour in mid-June.

The Klopp era at Liverpool concluded with a memorable 2-0 victory against Wolves at Anfield. In a heartfelt farewell, Klopp expressed his gratitude to the players and fans, urging them to support his successor, Arne Slot . While many wondered when Klopp would return to Anfield, he couldn't resist the opportunity to see Swift live in action.

During a recent Q&A session at Anfield's Carlsberg Dugout executive lounge, Klopp excitedly revealed that he and his wife had secured tickets for Swift's concert. His spontaneous rendition of Swift's hit song, “Shake it Off,” added to the excitement of his upcoming visit.

Klopp's legacy at Liverpool is indisputable. He guided the team to numerous trophies, including the Champions League and Premier League titles. His departure leaves big shoes to fill for Slot, who has been appointed Liverpool's new manager. The challenge now is whether Liverpool can maintain its success without Klopp at the helm.

Liverpool's recent confirmation of Slot's appointment signals a new chapter for the club. The Dutch manager has inked a three-year deal and will officially assume his role next month. Klopp's plans remain uncertain, leaving fans and pundits speculating about his next move in the football world.

Klopp's imminent return to Anfield for Taylor Swift's concert adds an intriguing twist to his post-Liverpool journey. While his legacy as a Liverpool legend is secure, Klopp's presence at Anfield again highlights his enduring connection with the club and its supporters. As Liverpool transitions under new management, Klopp's visit reminds him of the fond memories he created during his tenure as manager.

As Klopp prepares to enjoy Swift's performance, Liverpool fans will undoubtedly reflect on the incredible moments and achievements he brought to the club. While Klopp's managerial reign may have ended, his impact on Liverpool's history will endure for years. Whether he chooses to return to football management or pursue other ventures, Klopp's bond with Liverpool remains unbreakable, and his return to Anfield will be warmly welcomed by fans eager to express their appreciation for his contributions.

Taylor Swift Made A Special Request For Paramore's Eras Tour Setlist

The band was even inspired by the “Secret Songs” segment.

Paramore's Eras Tour Setlist Includes A Special Taylor Swift Request

Paramore isn’t giving fans any “hard times” on the Eras Tour . The Grammy-winning band opened for the first two shows of Taylor Swift’s world tour, and just returned for the European dates, meaning that Swift and her longtime friend , lead singer Hayley Williams, are traveling together all summer.

The band impressively manages to pack most of their major hits from the past two decades into their 40-minute opening set with a couple of surprises in between, including their recent Talking Heads cover and the lead single from their 2023 album, This Is Why .

Perhaps inspired by Swift’s nightly Secret Songs segment , Paramore also leaves one slot in the setlist open for a rotation of songs. Some of their selections thus far include “Decode,” “Pool,” and “Rose-Colored Boy.”

They also added one of their biggest hits at Swift’s request at the May 17 show in Stockholm, which has stayed in their set ever since. “By request of Queen Taylor, here’s your f*cking breakthrough hit, Stockholm!” Williams jokingly told the crowd.

Paramore’s Eras Tour Setlist

Liverpool’s whirlwind week: Klopp meets Ferguson, Taylor Swift songs and Rolex watches

Liverpool’s whirlwind week: Klopp meets Ferguson, Taylor Swift songs and Rolex watches

What a momentous end to the season for Liverpool .

An emotion-fuelled goodbye to Jurgen Klopp, two senior players also saying farewell and the dawn of a new era with Monday’s announcement that Arne Slot has penned a three-year contract to be the head coach.

This is the inside story of that final week, featuring laughter, tears, dinner with Sir Alex Ferguson and a burst of Taylor Swift…

How Liverpool hired Slot: The data, surprise contenders and why talks grew tense

As Liverpool legend John Barnes delighted the crowd with a word-perfect rendition of Rapper’s Delight by Sugar Hill Gang, Jurgen Klopp made his way up to the stage.

They formed an impromptu double act as Barnes sang and Klopp, wearing a black baseball cap back to front, showed off his dance moves. The Titanic Hotel — close to Liverpool’s iconic waterfront — was the setting for the lavish farewell party on Sunday night.

After all the emotion of the Anfield send-off a few hours before, it was time to unwind. It was around 9.30pm when Klopp led the squad into the plush function room to join family, friends and club staff as One Kiss by Dua Lipa blared out.

The guest list included UFC fighter Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett, while Barnes was joined by fellow Anfield greats Sir Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush as the celebrations continued past 4am.

The Champagne flowed and an orchestral band played before the DJ, Twotone, took over. Every member of the squad was present, with Darwin Nunez among the last of the players to leave.

Much had been made of the Uruguay striker failing to applaud during the guard of honour for Klopp on the pitch earlier but he was in good spirits during the party. At one stage, a South American trio of Nunez, Colombia’s Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister from Argentina were involved in a dance-off.

Just past 10pm, Klopp, the players and the coaching staff were invited up to the stage.  The big screen showed a collection of video messages from current and former stars thanking him for the impact Klopp has had on their careers.

Klopp, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson were among those to take the microphone to say a few words. As well as the outgoing manager, there were also tributes to Joel Matip and Thiago , who are both leaving as free agents this summer.

The trophies won during the German’s near nine-year reign were on display, Klopp having been presented with miniature versions earlier on the Anfield pitch after the Wolves game. There was a kids’ play area set up for the players’ families and a photo booth for guests with prints coming out emblazoned with the caption ‘Danke Jurgen’.

Rewind to last Tuesday and, with the players given the day off following their 3-3 away draw with Aston Villa the night before, Klopp attended a special event at Anfield for around 700 club staff from the different departments. He stood on the steps of the Main Stand with the silverware beneath him for a photograph to be taken with them all sitting to either side.

The in-house LFCTV crew then had 20 minutes to film Klopp’s goodbye video to supporters – a drone was used to capture footage of him in the centre circle and then on the Kop with a club scarf around his neck.

Stadium tours had been halted in the hope of keeping those moments private, but some French students were still in the upper tier and photographs they took soon emerged on social media.

Klopp then made his way to the Carlsberg Dugout executive lounge in the Main Stand where staff from across all sections of the club were treated to an hour-long Q&A. Klopp spoke candidly and got emotional at times as he talked about being part of the “LFC family”.

What advice would you give someone about building a great team? “Build it around Bobby Firmino.”

Favourite film? “Forrest Gump — and I can’t believe Tom Hanks was just a few yards away from me last night (at Villa Park).”

Asked what music he listens to, Klopp revealed that his wife Ulla had got them tickets to see Taylor Swift at Anfield next month and he started singing her hit Shake It Off.

Despite spending the best part of a decade living in England, he conceded that cricket still baffles him. “I hear the scores announced and I still have no idea who has won.”

Klopp said that his favourite Scouse word was ‘luv’ and that it took him years to understand why the ladies in the canteen at the training ground would say to him every morning, “Do you wanna coffee, luv?”

It was Klopp’s idea to have ‘Thank you luv’ emblazoned on the front of the T-shirts and hoodies that departing staff put on after Sunday’s final game against Wolves. On the back of them it read, ‘I’ll Never Walk Alone Again’.

At the end of the Q&A, Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan presented Klopp with a book full of heartfelt messages written by staff members. Klopp explained that he couldn’t stay for the drinks portion of the event as he was going out for dinner with Sir Alex Ferguson, which he later described as “outstanding”.

There’s a long-standing mutual respect between them. Klopp once said encountering Manchester United managerial legend Ferguson for the first time was “like meeting the Pope”. In a message of congratulations to Klopp after Liverpool won the Premier League title in 2020, Ferguson said: “The performance level of the team was outstanding. I’ll forgive you for waking me up at half past three in the morning to tell me you’d won the league.”

A group of Norwegian Liverpool supporters were sitting in the Freshfield pub in the town of Formby chatting to former Liverpool striker David Fairclough last Wednesday evening when, to their astonishment, Klopp strolled in.

He was there with assistant Peter Krawietz to have drinks with members of the club’s media department, and happily posed for selfies and signed autographs.

The following day, there was a players’ barbecue at the club’s Kirkby base after training where captain Virgil van Dijk delivered a moving tribute to Klopp and his backroom staff. They were each given a Rolex watch as a leaving gift from the squad.

From there, assistants Pep Lijnders and Krawietz, along with elite development coach Vitor Matos, goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, head of fitness Andreas Kornmayer, and head of recovery and performance Andreas Schlumberger drove to Hotel Anfield, near the stadium, for a special reception with supporters’ groups.

“These guys made us champions of the fu**ing world,” declared musician Jamie Webster, who performed terrace anthems Allez Allez Allez and You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Each coach was presented with an LFC shirt with their name on the back and signed by hundreds of fans. The microphone was passed around for supporters to offer their favourite memories and thanks.

“Imagine being us,” said Lijnders, a nod to the banner on the Kop. “Tell me one club in world football that would organise something like this for the staff behind the scenes. It’s incredible.”

Saturday brought the final training session as Klopp cleared out his office and left the AXA Training Centre for the final time. His open letter to the Liverpool Echo newspaper was published, in which he described his adopted home as “the city of open arms”.

With one eye on the future, a man who had previously warned about the perils of social media, launched his own Instagram account. Within 48 hours, @Kloppo had gathered more than two million followers.

Klopp, who had broken down earlier in the week as he read out a letter from a fan while filming with LFCTV, was desperate for the mood to be celebratory rather than sad at Anfield on Sunday. He got his wish.

His speech on the pitch post-match hit all the right notes as he told fans, “from today, I’m one of you”, and then back in the dressing room he told his players: “I love you, that’s all I can say.

“The football you are able to play is absolutely ridiculous. I can’t wait, watching you developing, making the next steps. Thank you for the ride. I’m so proud of you, and I’m so proud that I have been allowed to be part of this. The sky is the limit for you boys.”

When Klopp finally walked in for his final press conference shortly after 8pm, around two hours after the final whistle, he got his phone out and took a photo of the media members sitting in front of him, which was soon uploaded to his Instagram account. “In case I miss you,” he joked.

View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Jürgen Klopp (@kloppo)

Klopp reinforced the fact that he intends to take at least a year off, and may not manage again. He will attend the Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund , his previous club, and Real Madrid at Wembley in London on June 1, and in August he will be a spectator at the Paralympics in Paris.

There may not have been any silverware up for grabs at Anfield on Sunday but data from Blinkfire Analytics underlined the scale of the interest. The peak UK TV audience for the Wolves match was 1.2million and 70 per cent more people watched Klopp’s post-match farewell than Manchester City ’s title celebrations happening at the same time on another of Sky Sports’ channels. On YouTube, the footage from Anfield got 44 per cent more views than events at the Etihad Stadium.

In terms of the number of fan engagements on all content published on club social media platforms, Liverpool set a new best across the Premier League in 2023-24 for a single matchday with 26million on Sunday, while City attracted 19.4m.

Linda Pizzuti, wife of Liverpool’s principal owner John W Henry, took to Instagram to react to City’s post on X celebrating their fourth successive title triumph which read ‘This Means Four’ — a play on Liverpool’s old marketing slogan of ‘This Means More’.

“A sincere congratulations to Man City — Premier League champions. So much respect for this tremendous achievement. Thanks for thinking of us on your special day,” she posted.

On Monday afternoon, there was finally official confirmation of Slot’s appointment but Klopp had effectively already announced it for Liverpool with the chant he started from the centre circle on Sunday evening.

“It is certainly not an easy decision to close the door behind you at a club where you have experienced so many wonderful moments and worked successfully with so many wonderful people,” Slot told Feyenoord’s website as his departure from the Dutch side became official. “But as a sportsman, an opportunity to become a head coach in the Premier League, at one of the biggest clubs in the world, is difficult to ignore.”

Pre-season will begin at the start of July with a depleted squad due to the European Championship and the Copa America being played in Germany and the United States this summer.
