Ztrip®, the largest taxi fleet operator in the u.s., with operations in 26 cities, more than 2,700 vehicles and over 3,170 contracted drivers on its platform, to become publicly traded via business combination with spree acquisition corp..

Kansas City, Missouri and Atlanta, Georgia, Oct. 31, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- WHC Worldwide, LLC, doing business as zTrip®, a technology-based, North American-wide transportation company (“ zTrip ” or the “ Company ”), and Spree Acquisition Corp. 1 Limited (NYSE: SHAP, “ Spree ”), a special purpose acquisition company, today announced they have entered into a business combination agreement that would result in zTrip becoming publicly listed on the NYSE. Upon closing of the transaction, the combined company will be named WHC Worldwide, Inc. (continuing to do business as zTrip) and is expected to be listed on the NYSE under the ticker “ZTRP.” The combined company will be led by zTrip’s founder and CEO, Mr. Bill George.

zTrip was formed in January 2018 to develop a platform capable of operating local mobility service providers more effectively and efficiently. Since that time, its focus has been on building a national network of taxi operators and transportation service providers. Combining its experience of acquiring and operating traditional taxi fleets having completed 28 acquisitions of local operators to date, on a path towards establishing national scale with its proprietary technology-based shared infrastructure, zTrip aims to consolidate the local mobility service market and drive greater technology adoption and other operating efficiencies. zTrip is the largest taxi fleet operator in the U.S. (based on information provided by The Transportation Alliance), operating in 26 cities with more than 2,700 vehicles and over 3,170 contracted drivers on its platform. zTrip provides mobility services to approximately 1,080 corporate clients, providing a significant continuing revenue base, including in the following sub-sectors: student transportation; jobs training transfers; employment shuttles; airport transportation; conventions shuttles; large hospital networks; microtransit; local transportation authorities; and national Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) brokers.

zTrip’s operational model is intended to be sustainable on a long-term basis, and to combine the favorable features of both traditional taxicabs and ride-hailing digital apps. The model aims to combine the safety, financial discipline and fare regulation of taxicabs, and the newer vehicles, mobile convenience, and frictionless payment model of Transportation Network Companies (TNC) players (like Uber and Lyft). In addition, zTrip believes it is differentiated by its operations in overlooked urban segments or cities not well served by its rivals.

Through its combination of the proven taxi service model with purpose-built technology, zTrip believes it has created a new hybrid brand of on-demand transportation. As reflected in its results to date, zTrip’s business model has enabled the achievement of both solid financial results and growth while maintaining EBITDA profitability, which is based to a considerable extent on zTrip’s continuing revenue base and consistent operational efficiencies. The Company believes that this financially-sound and tech-driven model is well-positioned to continue to disrupt and consolidate the U.S. transportation industry.

Unlike the app-centric model used by TNC players, zTrip drivers are encouraged to develop personal relationships with their clients and take their bookings directly.  A key element of zTrip’s platform is zMetricz, which is an analytics tool providing insights on the data collected from the use of its services. zMetricz allows zTrip to deliver enhanced driver and rider safety and the efficient operation of services, while simultaneously helping zTrip drivers to optimize their own incomes while working on zTrip’s platforms. zTrip believes that its model is also favorable for independent contractor (IC) drivers, which has resulted in reduced driver turnover and high driver retention figures.

Highlights of the Proposed Transaction

zTrip’s assumed equity value prior to the business combination is $251 million

Spree is required to provide gross proceeds (after transaction expenses) of at least $50 million to zTrip

The combined company that will result from the transaction will be organized in an “Up-C” tax structure; WHC Worldwide, Inc., a Delaware corporation to be formed based on the transfer and domestication of Spree, will be a publicly listed holding company, which will hold equity interests in WHC Worldwide, LLC (dba zTrip) and its subsidiaries, which, in turn, will hold and operate substantially all of the assets and business of zTrip

The closing of the transaction is expected to occur during the first half of 2023

Key Transaction Terms

The business combination agreement provides that zTrip’s assumed equity value prior to the business combination is $251 million, subject to certain adjustments prior to closing. Subject to the approval by Spree’s shareholders of the business combination and after giving effect to any redemptions of Class A ordinary shares by Spree’s public shareholders, Spree will migrate from the Cayman Islands to Delaware and domesticate as a Delaware corporation, with its name to be changed to “WHC Worldwide, Inc.” At the effective time of the domestication, each outstanding Class A ordinary share and Class B ordinary share, and each warrant, of Spree will convert on a one-for-one basis into shares of Class A common stock, and warrants, respectively, of WHC Worldwide, Inc. At the closing, WHC Worldwide, Inc. will contribute to WHC Worldwide, LLC (x) the amount of remaining cash from Spree’s IPO in Spree’s trust account after giving effect to the exercise of redemption rights by any Spree shareholders, plus (y) the aggregate cash proceeds to be received from a PIPE investment in the combined company. In exchange for that contribution, WHC Worldwide, LLC will issue to WHC Worldwide, Inc. a certain number of WHC Worldwide, LLC Class A common units (as determined pursuant to the business combination agreement) and WHC Worldwide, Inc. will issue to WHC Worldwide, LLC, and WHC Worldwide, LLC will in turn distribute to its preexisting members, a number of shares of Class X common stock of WHC Worldwide, Inc. (which will not have any economic value but will entitle the holders thereof to one vote per share), equal to the number of WHC Worldwide, LLC units held by each such member. Following the transaction, those shares of WHC Worldwide, Inc. Class X common stock, together with the WHC Worldwide, LLC units (which will be reclassified as WHC Worldwide, LLC Class B common units in the transaction), to be held by WHC Worldwide, LLC’s preexisting members, may be forfeited and redeemed (as applicable) for shares of WHC Worldwide, Inc. Class A common stock or, at WHC Worldwide, LLC’s option, cash.

The business combination, which has been unanimously approved by the board of directors of Spree and the managers and members of WHC, is expected to close in the first half of 2023. Closing is subject to the satisfaction of specific conditions, including Spree having on its balance sheet at the closing cash in a minimal amount of at least $50 million. Closing is also subject to certain additional, customary closing conditions, such as the approval of the transaction by Spree’s shareholders and the NYSE’s approval of the initial listing application for the WHC Worldwide, Inc. Class A common stock to be issued to Spree’s existing shareholders in connection with the business combination.

Management Commentary

“We founded zTrip in 2018 because we saw a true opportunity to combine our extensive experience in the taxi and mobility industry with advanced technology and a fully integrated platform,” said Bill George, CEO and Founder of zTrip.  “We honed our acquisition and integration strategy to ensure we experienced profitable growth.  Our combination with Spree Acquisition Corp, and access to public markets, will allow us to aggressively and profitably expand our proven acquisition model both domestically and internationally.”

Steve Greenfield, Chairman of the Board of Spree, added, “We are very excited to announce the merger with zTrip. zTrip is the largest taxi operator in North America, led by Mr. Bill George, who has over 35 years of experience in the taxi industry. zTrip’s unique offering and management skills, together with its EBITDA profitability, put it in a great position in this fragmented industry. By using the public market, zTrip can achieve significant growth in the coming years.”

Non-GAAP Financial Measure

zTrip’s financial results included in this press release present EBITDA, a non-GAAP financial measure. zTrip believes that this non-GAAP measure provides useful information to its management and investors regarding its financial and business trends, by presenting corporate profitability, net of expenses that are dependent on financing decisions, tax strategy, and depreciation schedules. zTrip’s management uses this non-GAAP measure to compare zTrip’s performance between periods for trend analyses and for budgeting and planning purposes. This measure is used in financial reports prepared for zTrip’s management. zTrip believes that the use of this non-GAAP financial measure provides an additional tool for investors in evaluating ongoing operating results and trends, and in comparing zTrip’s financial measures with other transportation companies, many of which present that non-GAAP financial measure to investors.

zTrip defines EBITDA as net income, adjusted to exclude (i) interest expense, (ii) provision for (benefit from) income taxes and (iii) depreciation and amortization.

zTrip’s management does not consider this non-GAAP measure in isolation, or as an alternative to net income, which is determined in accordance with GAAP. The principal limitation of this non-GAAP financial measure is that it excludes significant expenses that are required by GAAP to be recorded in zTrip’s financial statements.

Because the equivalent GAAP measure (net income) to this non-GAAP measure of zTrip for the subject historical periods is still undergoing a PCAOB-compliant audit, which may result in changes to that GAAP measure (as described under “Private Company Audited Financial Results” below), zTrip has not included it in this press release. To compensate for these limitations, zTrip urges investors to review the reconciliation of its EBITDA to net income once that reconciliation becomes available (following completion of the PCAOB-compliant audit), and not to rely on any single financial measure to evaluate its business.

Private Company Audited Financial Results

The historical financial results of zTrip included in this press release have been derived from financial statements audited in accordance with accounting rules that are applicable to private companies, and not those principles required for public company audits as adopted by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). There may be changes to certain of those historical results following the completion of a PCAOB-compliant audit by zTrip’s independent registered public accountant. Spree and zTrip will include the PCAOB-compliant audited financial statements of zTrip in Spree’s Registration Statement to be filed (as described under “Important Information About the Proposed Transaction and Where to Find It” below).

I was threatened with violence

I was threatened with violence. The driver honks his horn early in the morning, waking up my neighbor's baby, which usually cries for about an hour. When I asked the driver to no longer do that, he got out of his car and approached me, inches from my face and said, "I'm gonna beat your ass." I retreated and called the police on him. The driver claimed he owned the company. If that's true, the company is owned by a violent hoodlum. I urge you to find another company. I see they've gotten numerous bad reviews. They've earned every single one of them.

Z Trip; no guarantee of a ride; no driver responded.

I attempted to use Z Trip to arrange a ride in Albuquerque, NM from an airport hotel to the Sunport terminal for a redeye flight to Dallas. The reservation process was fast and simple. The problem comes in when NOBODY accepted the fare, even with an advance tip greater than the fare! Z Trip doesn't actually ensure that a reservation results in a ride, so it's an expensive gamble when your pricey plane tickets are in peril, and you're stuck at the last second trying to get a ride to the airport at 4am. NEVER depend on Z Trip; they'll let you down. Just get a cab!

What about sending a driver when booked…Driver never showed up

What about sending a driver when booked ahead of time, and then putting up with a rude dispatcher that seem to be proud of his low professionalism. I will not use your service again.

Z trip

Z Trip , once the taxi-industry’s answer to Uber and Lyft, now requires drivers to lease a car from them to drive

Expected pay: speculative

Husl$core: $

Commissions & fees: $80 + per day

Where: Austin; Baltimore, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, Houston, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Northern Colorado, Orlando, Phoenix, Pittsburg, San Antonio, Tampa, West Palm Beach.

Requirements: Over the age of 23; a U.S. citizen; never convicted of a felony; be willing to be finger-printed and thoroughly background-checked

Z Trip Review:

When we first reviewed Z Trip, it was the taxi industry’s answer to Uber and Lyft. it simply offered an app that allowed you to book a taxi like you would a ride share driver.

But when we went back to update our review in January of 2023, the company was a different animal. Now, it essentially requires that you lease a vehicle from the company to drive with Z Trip. The site says it takes care of your maintenance, and gives you the benefit of saving your own car from the heavy wear-and-tear of rideshare driving.

While rideshare driving is tough on your car, this company’s leases are expensive. And drivers still pay for their own gas.

This now appears to be one of the least attractive options in an industry that’s not known for great choices.

How it works

Officially, you work for yourself through this app. While rides are arranged through Z trip, riders can pay in cash you want. You don’t pay the app for processing payments or doing your marketing. If the rider pays via credit card, Z Trip will process the payment and pay you within a few days of completing the trip.

But you’re likely to pay so much to lease a Z Trip vehicle that it can be tough to make a living. Uber and Lyft have also occasionally arranged leases for their drivers. These are almost always terrible deals.

If you have your own car, which gets great mileage, you may be able to make a decent living with ride share — if you’re strategic about when and where you drive. When you don’t own your own car, ride share is a terrible way to make a living. The costs are high; the competition is stiff; and the hours are long.

Recommendations

Notaly, Z Trip is one of the few apps that’s panned by drivers and customers alike. Reviews at both app stores, as well as Indeed and other job-rating sites say this is an “opportunity” you should pass up.

Better-rated driving apps include Lyft , Wingz and DoorDash .

If you have a truck and are willing to drive it around to help people move, check out  GoShare , which offers high hourly pay.

What their drivers say: (From Indeed )

Daily rentals are normally around $115 a day which means you’ll have to make $115 to pay your vehicle lease before you see any money. Then, you still have to pay for your own fuel. Couple that with the fact that no taxes are withheld and you’ll have to pay taxes out of pocket and you’re looking at a total loss.

You pay high dollar for car it’s always broke. We always have to pay in advance for your rental leases, yet you get paid in two or three days out for your work. Seems you’re always in the hole.

Better options

Unless you can’t read or write , there are a million better companies that know what their doing. Street Bums make more than I was able.

You just have to drive 12+ hours everyday, and lease is very expensive. But if you are willing to drive that many hours 7 days a week this is the perfect job for you.

You are paying more to the lease of $80 a day for the vehicle plus you have to pay your own gas! So in reality you’re putting more of your money towards the car than you will ever take home. They promise a lot but you never can count on it. Super unreliable place to work! Please avoid this place like the plague…

You pay $95 a day for the lease, which seems like a lot, but it’s really not considering how much you make per day. The daily lease is what pushes a lot of people away, but if you put in the hours and work you can easily pull in $300 a day. $300 – $95 is still $205 per day. If you can work even 5 days a week that’s making a little over 1g a week, 4g a month. Work 7 days a week and you’re making almost 6g. If you own a car and use it as your cab, the daily lease gets knocked down to $50 a day. The potential to make really good money is 100% up to you. You can work up to 16hrs a day or 80hrs a week. Not to mention, ever person you refer to the job, you make $5 every day they work. Just another way to lower your lease and make even more money. You create an LLC when you join, so network your business. Advertise your business and get people to work under you. The freedom you get by making your own hours and dictating your pay is amazing. I highly recommend zTrip for anyone who loves driving and making money.

Yes. $200 a day is good money. Unless you are a lawyer, doctor, or other professionals that make $100 per hour.

Were u my driver for the taxi at 701 Charles Street ? I had the baby and it was around 1038pm. U really helped me out. If it’s you text me 4438147339. Maybe we could have coffee or something

Kimberly Avatar

If you see this, it is now Feb 2021 and I am curious…are you still driving for Ztrip and with the same financail success as you mention in this review? Would you still give the same positive review? Thanks for your time.

A Roupe Avatar

In Colorado time restriction to 12 hour days. Lucky to get 240 a day minus the 90 a day plus if u work 10 plus hours.a day that’s about 50 bucks minus as well at 3.50 a gallon

Bennett Sproul Avatar

I worked for ztrip last year and i slaved 14 to 18 hour days and the rides are so inconsistent and the fact that your still in a beat up taxi cab And you still have to pay $500 a week regardless if you made $500 a week the 1st week you work there you make and they credit you and you only pay 365 but you only have 3 days to make that amount this is not a job many people could do and especially if you have small children as life will get in the way so much that you don’t end up making any money at all

brett Avatar

maybe if yall would actually show up yall would have more business

Newyork Avatar

I have an interview with ztrip and there is two things I want to know first let me say someone I know worked for ztrip and told me that passengers would run out without paying is this true and if that happens what do a ztrip driver suppose to do? second do we have to pay up front a few to use they vehicle? Need to know before I waste my time

Jeff Avatar

They work you to death for far less than minimum wage. Beware.

Tom Mathies Avatar

I’m just a customer that tried to make an early morning reservation to go for hospital surgery via the app (wait time to talk to rep was hours haha). Was Told my request for a reservation was received. But it was not a real reservation ha ha and they would let me know. So at that point I knew this was not a “taxi” of days gone by. Have hour before my 4:30 AM pickup time received text to “hold on” and that we were looking for driver ha ha. You guessed it, no driver showed and I drove myself to hospital. The out was formally Yellow Cab but I guess Ztrip was a needed upgrade.

Joshua Grosel Avatar

Unfortunately it’s still like hailing a taxi. You still have to wait for a driver to accept your trip.

GMoney Avatar

I work for a local Colorado Springs Hotel near the airport. I have guests constantly book reservations to rides to the airport and no one shows up. I call and the automated system tells me they are looking for a driver. They have stranded many, many customers. Worst Cab Service Ever!

Troy Turner Avatar

I have an interview with Z-Trip and am curious about the whole thing and I want the truth. I have time and want to make money. I am new to this driving business anyway. Now I do know back when “Yellow Cab” was around, you paid a lease and you needed a Shofars or CDL license. How much is the leasing and how is it paid? Who pays for gas? I am feeling like I am in a pond without a lifeguard.

Patrick Billette Avatar

Dear Z trip, I AM SO SICK AND TIRED OF THIS!!!! Every time we make a subscription and give a time for the cab to pick me up, they do not listen. They are never on time, always late, and never give reasons on why. Today, I was really late to,work because the DAM CAB DID NOT SHOW UP UNTIL 10:10 AM! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE??????????????????? This is ridiculous. Every week my mom has a subscription to come at 845 AM every week. We thought that would work and they continued being late. When yellow cab used to do it, they were usually on time and sometimes early. I think Z trip should do the same. If you are going to put a subscription for a time every week, they need to remember to come at this time every week. TREAT THIS LIKE UBER!!!!!!! It is that simple, all you do is download an app, call a ride, it tells you exactly how far the driver is and it tells you their name as well. It also tells you how good the driver is, what comments people said, so you know ahead of time if you like the driver or not. This should not happen anymore. That was 1 hour and 25 minutes late. I called a few times asking where the cab is and every time I call, the answer is always the same. We are still looking for nearby drivers and we do not have an available driver at the moment. My mom called and put the subscription for 8:30 AM and I hope it works. My program director at Summerhouse Angie also called and talked to them about it being late all the time and they are working to see if they can find a driver and work it out in a way that it is the same driver every week that is always on time consistently. This is the reason I have been late to work almost every week. If this is the same every week, the driver should put it on their calendar so they remember. I hope the service improves from now on. I am not pleased at all. I hope lessons are learned from this. We need better drivers that are as good as Uber, polite, and they are always on time. I hope it improves and gets better fast. Patrick

Davin Avatar

Drivers are independent contractors. They choose when they work and which dispatched runs they want to pick up. They are not hourly employees so they have the option to make those decisions. If you find a driver you like it’s best to discuss with them the possibility of making arrangements directly with them rather than going through zTrip dispatch. Many drivers don’t care about their reputation and provide terrible customer service. Other drivers, including myself, take pride in providing excellent customer service. My name is my brand and it is flattering when customers request me specifically because they enjoyed allowing me to drive for them.

SKDA Avatar

I would say this if you have to be at work at 8am i advise you to call at 6:30am be before time not close to time it takes a while for any Ztrip driver to pick it up and it may not be a lot available at that time so be before time so you won’t be late, alot of time it’s not on the driver

jan Avatar

NEVER EVER use this service! Monday, June 6 ….The driver ended up charging me $68 for a quoted and verified 3 times price of $32-$35 with their phone reservation lady to get to the Pittsburgh airport. Needing to catch a flight, I couldn’t argue. What is even worse was I asked the driver to confirm the $32-$35 price BEFORE I got in the car & he said “It could even be less”. Yet in conversation during the ride, he’d already taken others to the PIT airport so he really did KNOW! With this more than double charge, I certainly wasn’t going to trust his offer to pay by credit card so I paid cash and got NO receipt.

I have tried to call their customer service number 412-323-4722, left three voice mails over the past few days … and of course, no one returned my call nor email. Sadly I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.

I’m sorry to hear that driver took advantage of you. In Louisville, the city regulates taxi services. As a taxi driver I have to obtain a permit from the city. If something like that happened here and got reported to the city, the driver could face repercussions. Just something to consider.

THANKS TO ALL WHO POSTED INFO ON PRICING AND BREAKING DOWN LEASE DETAILS- THE ZTRIP WEBSITE PROVIDES NO INFO ON LEASING, HOW/WHEN IT’S EXPECTED TO BE PAID,HOW MANY HOURS YOU NEED TO WORK PER DAY/PER WEEK TO COVER YOUR LEASE- THIS MAKES ME WEARY THAT THEY ARE NOT UPFRONT NOR PROVIDE ANY DETAILS ABOUT COSTS PAID OUT OR MONEY TAKIN IN PER WEEK.

IF I UNDERSTOOD CORRECTLY-

TO BECOMEA DRIVER AND LEASE ONE THEIR CARS IT COSTS 95/DAY?

HOWEVER, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY THIS FEE UPFRONT,OR ON DAY ONE, ALSO, IT IS WEEKLY LEASE, NOT PER DAY, TOTAL WEEKLY LEASE COSTS=665? [95X7=665] IF IT IS NOT PAID UPFRONT, DOES THAT MEAN IT IS DUE ON DAY 7?

HOW MUCH IS AVERAGE ZTRIP PAY OUT PER CUSTOMER? 20/EACH TRIP YOU MAKE CORRECT?

Needed to get home from surgery

I had been hospitalized for three days and I had a ride from my son but the hospital didn’t have their stuff together and my son had to leave. I explained to them I wanted to go home but my ride was gone for the day. Eventually they came up with the idea that they call me a cab and give me a voucher. I waited and waited. Three hours pass and I decided to call the taxi service to find out what happened. I was told someone else took my ride, which didn’t make sense to me. Why didn’t they ask if it was me. I got angry and told them to send another one to pick me up. An hour passes and nothing. So I called back and was told they had to check to see if anything was available. What!! I told them what they needed to do and now. I waited and waited at the designated area in the hospital. Another half hour and they pulled up asking was I the client they were looking for. After that was established I got In my ride and was told by the driver that he just got the order and came right away. I appreciated that and he got me home safe and sound but the route he took was the long way there. If I were paying for it, I would have insisted the shorter way. Since I didn’t I said nothing but thought I see what you’re doing. I’m a little curious how much he put on the voucher. Don’t get me wrong it was a pleasant ride, that’s why I did tip him when I got home. I appreciated the fact that he waited until I got in the house safely.

This Company is a Joke!! With A capitol “J”

I can’t even rightly give them 1 star, but it was my only option. We scheduled them to pick up a group of 10 to shuttle us to an event and pick us up and they didn’t show up on time nor with enough vehicles. We schedule two vehicles and only one showed up……30 minutes late to boot. And not only did they not show up to pick us up to drive us to the event, they failed to come pick us up at the conclusion of then event. This company is completely undependable and should be ashamed to call themselves anything but a fraud. You will be stranded if you chose to use this company. Don’t book anything with this company unless you want to be looking for an alternative to get you to your destination. We had to bargain our way to find a way home because they left us standed in the middle of nowhere….literally.

Some kinks to work out…

The booking process is similar to Uber or Lyft, though the app could use some polishing up… I’ve been using them, at the recommendation of a friend, here and there over the past few months. My opinions thus far: PROS: You can pay with cash. Adjusting your trip is much easier than alternative apps. Pricing is reasonable. When it works, it works well. I’ve had success stories where I went from ordering the ride to sitting in the car and on my way in LESS than 2 minutes. This is, however, a rarity. CONS: The service is unreliable at best. I find myself waiting for a driver to be assigned to my trip more often than not. Sometimes a driver is never assigned to my trip, and I end up finding alternative means of transportation. This is, of course, after wasting a half hour to an hour getting the ride setup and waiting for a driver. I absolutely cannot depend on this service whatsoever.

Although believed safer compared to short-acting benzodiazepines (BZD), in the past few years a growing concern has developed relating to the abuse of Z-drugs, and specifically of zolpidem. Here we aim to review the evidence for the misuse of zolpidem and describe several related cases collected in Italy. A comprehensive overview is here carried by using several databases, and by combining the search strategy of free text terms and exploding a range of MESH headings relating to the topics of Zolpidem and Abuse and/or Misuse as follows: (( Zolpidem [Title/Abstract]) AND ( Abuse [Title/Abstract]) OR ( Misuse [Title/Abstract])), without time and/or language restrictions. Furthermore, a case series of 8 cases of zolpidem misuse and/or abuse, collected in different Italian psychiatric settings (psychiatric public hospital, psychiatric private rehabilitation clinic, and private practice), have been here described. According to our findings, zolpidem should be prescribed with the same caution as BZDs, especially in patients with a history of drug abuse or in the elderly. Behavioural modifications, including bizarre behaviours, psychomotor agitation, sleep-related complex behaviours have been reported. Monitoring of zolpidem use in selected populations is warranted. Psychiatrists and physicians should be aware of the misuse potential of zolpidem and adopt measures restricting its use.

The van 657 and driver 28103 The driver I had from the Chiefs game was great trip home and very pleasant to talk with. I really appreciate his service and getting me home safely. Thanks again.

I booked my ride 24 hr. in advance and was left waiting for a driver who never showed up. I then called dispatch who said they were "looking for a driver". I should have been called in advance. Terrible. Not reliable.

Photo of Coreys S.

The drivers will run you off the road and damage your car and ztrip will pretend it never happened. Definitely not a good company.

I would have rated it lower if I could. I am Kenneth G and I set up a cab pickup appointment on the 27th of March 2024 for the day of 3rd of April 2024 at 6:00am from home to the Union Station. The trip was to be a start of a train ride to a two week cruise. It was almost ruined when no vehicle showed up. I called and the dispatcher verified the trip and claimed she would send one out as soon as possible. But when I called back, she indicated she could not get a vehicle to me. I had to drive my own vehicle and park it in the Union Station parking garage which ended up costing me $460.00 total and would have ruined an expensive cruise vacation had I not have made it there in time. Yet because of the delay, I still was not able to check the two larger luggage before the cutoff time. I usually don't write up reviews, but this company, zTrip, warranted one

I booked a taxi for June 11, 2023 (Sunday) to pick me up on June 12th (Monday) for 2:30am to take me to the Kansas City International Airport! I received a confirmation & even a call to confirm that I would be picked up. Monday came, no taxi at 2:30, 3:00am, etc. Mind you I had an early flight to take. No one called me to say they would be late or they could not do the job. I ended up calling numerous taxis to be picked before I missed my flight. When I called zTrip to see where they were, their response was 'Oh, we don't have anyone to do this pickup"! Very unprofessional & would not recommend them to 'ANYONE'!

If I could leave a negative star review I would. I reserved a wheelchair van for Thanksgiving over a month ago. My parents were to be pick up at 12:45. They called 2 hours before and confirmed it. Now, 2 hours later, 4 phone calls to ZTrip and no driver showing up, it is showing that the last person I spoke to CANCELED their ride. I WILL SPEND THE $800 TO RENT A WHEELCHAIR VAN BEFORE USING ZTRIP AGAIN!!!!!

Photo of Douglas F.

Absolutely unreliable I'm checking out GoGograndparent. Don't use Z trip Did I mention I've charged different amounts for the same trip 3 times

Photo of Raoul B.

Had reserved a ride to airport. Gave them plenty of notice (2 days) and they did not show up. Called dispatch and they mentioned there is no driver in the area. So much for making sure there is someone available! How can they compete with rideshare if they cannot even make sure there is some available... do NOT book with this company!!!! They are not reliable...

Photo of Laura S.

They kept me waiting for more than an hour but kept saying they were on the way. I cancelled and called Lyft. Lyft was there in 5 minutes.

Photo of Larry H.

Ride never showed up! When we called to see why, they had no record of our reservation. Front desk at hotel said delays of 30-60 minutes on pick up time was not uncommon.

Z Strain Mushrooms: Effects, Cultivation, and More

The origin of this fast-growing mushroom may be shrouded in underground lore—but cultivators still love reliable fungus..

z trip report

Article by console.log(""); console.log("author name"); console.log(""); Adam Pallay .author-bio * {display: unset !important;} Fact Checked by: Shelby Hartman Published on March 07, 2022

The history surrounding the Z Strain mushroom is a bit of a mystery. Also known as Z Cube, some have suggested that it was the result of mislabeled genetics, and others believe that it may be a genetic isolation of the famed Golden Teacher mushroom. But, in an era of prohibition, the truth often lives and dies in the underground. We may not have a definitive answer concerning its creation and discovery, but there are a couple of things we can say with certainty about Z Strain.

Firstly, Z Strain is a member of the Psilocybe cubensis family of mushrooms. Often referred to as “benzies” or “cubies,” the Psilocybe cubensis is known for its exceptional potency as well as the ease at which it can be grown, making it a favorite for mushroom cultivators. Secondly, Z Strain was created through human cultivation—it’s not a naturally occurring fungus. At some point, someone created a variant strain of a naturally occurring Psilocybe cubensis mushroom, and Z Strain was born.

Z Strain Mushroom History

Not much is known about the emergence of the Z Strain mushroom. Like many mushroom strains, decades of underground cultivation make tracing the exact lineage and history of this fungus difficult. Z Strain spores have been traded online for at least two decades —perhaps longer if you’re able to dive into the nebulous early days of the internet.

The history of naturally occurring magic mushrooms is much more robust and well-known. Cubensis is the most common species of psilocybin mushroom—with a long-held legacy of human respect and appreciation. The mushroom species holds cultural and spiritual importance within Mazatec communities in southern Mexico. The psychoactive fungus became popular in the United States after amateur mycologist R. Gordon Wasson published a 1957 photo essay in Life Magazine. The essay discussed Wasson’s experience with Psilocybe cubensis and Maria Sabina, the Mazatec curandera who guided Wasson’s first psilocybin experience; the article remains controversial to this day.

Z Strain Mushrooms Effects and Characteristics

The primary psychoactive compounds in Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms—including Z Strain—are psilocybin and psilocin. Yet Psilocybe mushrooms also contain other potentially active compounds, including baeocystin and norbaeocystin. Like any experience with magic mushrooms, the amount you ingest, your personal body chemistry, and your environment are factors that color your overall psilocybin experience.

Additionally, well-grown Z Strain mushrooms can be quite potent, producing profound effects for those that choose to consume them in large quantities. Overall mushroom potency varies by growing conditions. Set and setting also play important roles during any trip. Set refers to the mindset you bring into the experience; setting refers to your environment and surroundings during the psilocybin journey.

psychedelic mushrooms

The psychedelic effects of Z Strain mushrooms take effect within 30 minutes to one hour, depending on your consumption method. Yet, the experiential effects of Z Strain will vary significantly from person to person; every individual embarks on their own unique journey, colored by their personal histories and current circumstances. In comfortable settings, Z Strain mushrooms may produce strong feelings of euphoria, love, and transcendence, as well as abiding visuals. Some consumers feel more connected to their environment and activities after consuming psilocybin.

Yet, magic mushrooms aren’t always fun and games. Psilocybin experiences can be psychologically intense and challenging. Psychoactive mushrooms like Z Strain may cause nausea, anxiety, and can bring forward strong—even uncomfortable—emotions over the duration of the trip. Those looking for support during a psychedelic experience are encouraged to contact Fireside Project , a psychedelic peer support service, for assistance.

Z Strain Hallucinogenic effects

A mild experience with Z Strain mushrooms can produce things like visual tracers and feelings of euphoria, interconnectedness, and transcendence. A large dose—often called a heroic dose—on the other hand, can produce effects that are much more profound.  Even for an experienced consumer, these effects can feel a bit jarring. Many psilonauts follow the adage “start low, go slow,” especially if you are new to this particular mushroom. The effects commonly associated with heroic doses include:

  • Visuals of flying fractals and dancing lights
  • Altered auditory perceptions
  • Flashes of color
  • Synesthesia
  • Altered perception of time
  • Spatial illusions

For some people, heroic doses may inspire what scholars call a “mystical experience.” Mystical experiences connote feelings of “oceanic boundlessness,” which is an emotional state marked by “feelings of unity and transcendence of time and space.” Another hallmark of a mystical experience is “ego dissolution” or “ ego death ,” in which a person temporarily loses their sense of boundary between themselves, the world, and other beings. During a challenging psilocybin experience—a “bad trip”—the experience of ego dissolution can cause anxiety and distress.

Z Strain Dosage

Psilocybin mushroom dosage is often broken into four major categories: microdoses, low doses, moderate doses, and high doses. A microdose dose of Z Strain would be between .1 grams and 0.5 grams of dried mushrooms. A low dose of Z Strain mushrooms would be between 0.5 and two grams. This dosage is also sometimes referred to as a “functional dose” or a “creative dose,” as it is not intended to produce profound effects. Its effects can last anywhere between three and six hours, depending on your consumption method.

A moderate dose generally sits between two and 3.5 grams. This amount would give the consumer access to all of the effects (listed above) associated with moderate to large dosages. Dedicated psilonauts consume between 3.5 and five grams, with some risk-takers venturing beyond. The effects of a large dose can last up to 8 hours. The utmost caution is always recommended with psilocybin mushrooms, especially those embarking on high-dose journeys.

Z Strain Anatomical Differences

Z Strain is a medium-sized mushroom. Its cap is golden-brown, similar to the Golden Teacher mushroom—one of the reasons why people believe that Z Strain is genetic isolation of Golden teacher. However, no other evidence suggests a connection between the two mushrooms. Z Strain has a thick stalk that gets wider toward the base. The stalk is white, wrinkly, and displays small amounts of blue when bruised—indicating the presence of psilocybin.

Z Strain Shrooms Variations and Hybrids

As mentioned above, Z Strain is a varietal in the Psilocybe cubensis family of mushrooms. Variations within Z Strain mushrooms are the result of the genetics of the mushroom, the environment in which it was grown, and the choices the cultivator used to grow the mushrooms. There are no commonly cultivated mushroom variations or hybrids from which Z Strain is a parent.

Growing Z Strain Mushrooms

Psilocybe cubensis grows wild in many parts of the world. Its habitat spans tropical regions of both hemispheres. This includes parts of the Americas, South East Asia, India, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Hawaii. It is most commonly found on cow manure. Z Strain, on the other hand, was bred in a lab to produce ideal characteristics for cultivators—most notably a quick lifecycle, high yields, and easy growth.

mycelium growing on grain

One of the defining characteristics of Z Strain is that it is easy to grow. This can mean many things for a cultivator throughout the lifecycle of the mushrooms; however, what makes Z Strain easy to grow has less to do with the steps involved with the grow and more to do with how forgiving the mushroom is to things like contamination and variance in temperature, substrate composition, and other environmental factors.

Z Strain Cultivation

Like other Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms, Z Strain will grow best when the temperature sits in the subtropical range–somewhere around 75°F (24°C). Mushrooms are generally comfortable at the same temperature as humans. So when considering a place to grow your mushrooms, it is best to find a space that naturally sits at a comfortable temperature and avoids big temperature swings.

Z Strain grows well on bovine dung, equine dung, enriched soil, compost, straw, and grain. In other words, it is not a mushroom that requires a specific medium from which to grow. You will have options when it comes to sourcing materials. Many growers articulate that this mushroom spawns quickly, one of its primary marketable qualities.

Buying Z Strain Spores

Spores are legal to purchase online for “microscope purposes” but illegal to germinate in most places, with the exception of cities and regions which have recently decriminalized psilocybin mushrooms.  Z Strain can be obtained online in both spore syringes and spore prints. Spore syringes are perhaps best for amateur cultivators that are not looking to store spores for long-term use, and you can always make your own spore prints from your harvest if you change your mind.

spore print

Legality of Z Strain Mushrooms

The legality of Z Strain is tied to laws surrounding the possession of psilocybin; however, it is not always that straightforward. Sometimes it is illegal to have mushrooms and/or the spores that are produced by these mushrooms, and sometimes it is illegal to have psilocybin mushrooms, yet completely legal to have mushroom spores because they lack psilocybin. Other countries, like Canada, are beginning to legalize psilocybin for medical use. Always check your local laws before beginning your mushroom cultivation journey.

In The United States psilocybin mushrooms have been decriminalized in Oregon and Washington D.C. as well as cities within Washington (Seattle), Michigan (Ann Arbor), Colorado (Denver), California (Oakland and Santa Cruz), and Massachusetts (Somerville and Cambridge). Currently, psilocybin mushrooms are completely legal in The Bahamas, Brazil, Jamaica, Nepal, The Netherlands (truffles only), and Samoa.

Z Strain is easy to grow, produces well, and can be quite potent. For these reasons, it is popular for both growers and consumers alike. Yet, as with all psilocybin mushrooms, Z Strain can inspire intense emotional experiences, particularly in large doses. So, it’s important to remember the adage “start low, go slow.” Finally, cultivating and possessing Z Strain is still illegal in many regions. As such, always check the laws in your region before embarking on your Z Strain journey.
