Trending on billboard.

After his L.A. show, Royce will conclude his Classic Tour with final stops in San Jose, Calif. on Oct. 8 and in Santa Barbara, Calif., the following night.

Here are five takeaways from Royce’s 90-minute show in Los Angeles.

A Night to Celebrate

Royce stepped out in crisp white slacks and a see-through white mesh shirt paired with a platinum blue metallic cropped blazer. With a huge smile, he thanked his fans for showing up, not just tonight but throughout his career. “It’s a pleasure to be here with you. This is a celebratory tour in honor of all my songs that became classics thanks to you all.”

A Lucky Crowd

Royce interacted with his fans every second of the show — and those in the front row were not disappointed. On multiple occasions, he came face-to-face with them and sang to that one lucky fan, or held their hand. Throughout the night, he also threw out roses (which he either licked or kissed) to the crowd and tossed out towels he used to wipe his own sweat, all while singing and dancing. Multitasker.

‘Who Here Knows How to Dance Bachata? ‘

The ‘Hat’ Moment

After dancing with fans, Royce’s distinctive flat cap-style hat appeared on the stage in a glass box. After taking a quick break to change outfits — this time he came out wearing a two-piece blue leather ensemble — he took the stage and put the hat on, which only meant one thing: he was performing “Stand By Me.” The career-changing track, released in 2010, peaked at No. 8 on  Billboard ‘s  Hot Latin Songs  chart (dated May 7, 2010).

A Nostalgic Setlist

“When I sing this song, it takes me back to the early days in my career,” Royce explained before singing “Soy El Mismo.” “You all watched me grow up and this track helps me stay grounded.” “Soy El Mismo” was just one of the many classics he performed that night. The set opened with his latest hit, the María Becerra -assisted “Te Espero,” which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard ‘s Latin Airplay chart (dated June 25). He then went on to perform bachata anthems such as “Carita Inocente,” “Te Robaré,” “Darte Un Beso,” “Las Cosas Pequeñas,” “Te Me Vas” and “Incondicional.”

Prince Royce Talks Wild Concert Moments, New Music, and McDonald's (EXCLUSIVE)

Pretty Honore - Author

Oct. 10 2022, Published 9:05 a.m. ET

Not all heroes wear capes and it’s safe to say that Prince Royce is out here changing lives. The award-winning Latin artist kicked off his Classic Tour in the U.S. this fall. With a ticket purchase, fans are given a chance to get up close and personal with the heartthrob himself.

As part of his partnership with McDonald’s, the artist took the Microsoft Theater for a special event this October. He talked about his collab with McDonald’s and the wildest moments from his 2022 tour in an exclusive interview with Distractify.

Plus, Royce gave us an update on his upcoming album. Here’s what we learned!

Prince Royce

McDonald's and Prince Royce partnered up for Hispanic Heritage month.

The Dominican-American singer has spent nearly half his life in the spotlight, but Royce will never forget where he came from. “I grew up in the Bronx. In the projects, a very tough neighborhood,” Royce told Distractify. It’s for this reason that he recently teamed up with McDonald’s for their annual Ritmo y Color campaign.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Prince Royce (@princeroyce)

Featuring pop art photo installments from a host of Latinx visual artists, this Hispanic History month, McDonald’s collaborated with Prince Royce and Rah Azul to create a one-of-a-kind concert experience in Los Angeles on Oct. 7.

Fans will be able to watch the performance on Royce's YouTube channel on October 25!

“Seeing big companies, corporate companies like McDonald's show love to my music, which comes from the Dominican Republic [and] show love to Rah Azul, he grew up in LA, he’s Mexican…" Royce explained, “I just think even simple things like that — that don't seem that simple — shows love to so many different communities. And I appreciate them for inviting me on here.”

But California is only one of the many stops he’ll make in weeks to come. As he finishes up the first leg of his 2022 tour, Royce reflected on some of the wildest moments so far.

Prince Royce on the wildest moments from the first leg of his Classic Tour: “Some girl licked my stomach the other day.”

Royce released his latest album Alter Ego weeks before the world went on lockdown. Now, he’s back with his Classic Tour — which features a setlist of the singer’s greatest hits.

Ahead of his return to the U.S., the singer performed ten back-to-back shows in Europe. He compared being back on stage to “riding a bike.” He told us, “When I started, I was 18 years old. I'm 33 now.”

And after more than a decade in the music industry, Royce said he’s only getting started. “After you do something for so long, people are like ‘Aren't you tired? Aren't you bored?’” Royce added, “[But] I always try to find the power of something new,” the singer explained.

With age, comes maturity — and Royce said this is especially true when it comes to his fanbase. He shared, “I think it's a beautiful thing to see people have grown with me [because] I've grown with them.

My life is now complete. I love you @PrinceRoyce , we killed that shit 🤪🇩🇴❤️ #ClassicTour pic.twitter.com/np4axgaMC3 — Dammy Carolina✨ (@dammyc_) October 4, 2022

"You always dream of people singing your songs [and] filling up an arena, but it's very different living it. When I'm on stage and I see girls crying, I know that it must be for something special. So it's really an honor to really be a part of so many people's lives.”

Royce shared that his Classic Tour has given him a new appreciation for his listeners. Along the way, he's had a few NSFW encounters on stage. “I mean, some girl licked my stomach the other day, but it was like, I don't think she had disrespectful intentions,” he said with a laugh.

So, when is Prince Royce dropping new music? We have answers!

It’s been two long years since Prince Royce dropped his last project. But fans can rest easy knowing that new music is on the way.

Royce exclusively told Distractify that his new album is expected to release before the Summer of 2023. The project is untitled as of this writing, but Royce has a few people in mind for features.

"There’s so many [artists] that I’d love to work with,” he shared, putting Enrique Iglesias at the top of the list. “I think that collaborations, for me, a lot of them have happened organically. So hopefully, I work with some of those artists in the near future.”

Prince’s ‘Musicology’ at 20: A Look at the Album, Tour and Year That Saved His Career

(EXCLUSIVE, Premium Rates Apply) Prince performs after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Photo by Kevin Kane/WireImage)

Prince had been at a crossroads before, but never like he was at the beginning of 2004.

Popular on Variety

On February 8, he opened the 2004 Grammy Awards with a five-minute medley of “Purple Rain,” “Baby I’m a Star” and “Let’s Go Crazy” — with Beyonce — that may be the greatest opening to a music-awards show in television history. Two weeks later, he announced his first major tour in six years, noting that he’d be playing his hits again. “It’s older music, but it’s going to be played in a newer way,” he said, teasing that it might be the last time he played those songs in concert (it wasn’t). Then in March, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where he played a different, much longer medley of his hits during the ceremony — but of course what everyone remembers is his show-stealing solo during the all-star George Harrison tribute, which he finished by throwing his guitar into the audience.

Musically, “Musicology” was a return to accessibility. And although it didn’t reach the peaks of his classic ‘80s material — to be fair, not much music does — it was a vivid sampler of his musical styles that marked the return of the Prince that people knew and loved. It also was a genuine hit: The ticket-CD bundle helped loft the album to No. 3 on the Billboard 200, but it was top 5 in multiple countries all over the world without that boost, even though it didn’t have a big hit single. Recorded over several years, “Musicology”’s musical baseline is the brand of lean funk Prince was raised on — he even shouts out Earth, Wind & Fire, James Brown and others in the album’s lead-off title track, which concludes with brief, scratchy recordings of some of his own hits in a mock scanning-the-radio-dial segment. There are a couple of “Do Me, Baby”-styled bedroom ballads, bombastic rock (“A Million Days”), even the new wave pop he hadn’t done since “I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man” on “Cinnamon Girl,” complete with splashes of vintage synthesizers. It winds down with a sultry, slow-burning burst of Aretha on the soulfully bluesy “On the Couch” and concludes with the breezy “Reflection.”

Even though Prince’s musicianship was at a new peak — his blazing guitar work, multi-tracked harmonies, production and arranging show an artist at the top of his craft — he was making music that was easy to like again, which isn’t to say it was simple; but even at its most sophisticated and complex (like the jazzy interlude at the end of “If I Was the Man in Ur Life”), it went down more smoothly. Indeed, the only area where “Musicology” fell flat is in the lyrics, which, like much of Prince’s later material, could be shockingly insipid. In particular, the album’s catchiest track, “Life of the Party,” is marred by lyrics so tossed-off that it sounds like they were written off the top of his head. (“So you’re havin’ a party?/ Goody for you/ All the beautiful people gonna be there/ Yeah, that’s cool.”) Even when he tried gravitas — about politics, war, global warming and moral decay on “Dear Mr. Man” — it wasn’t much better.

Prince was not an artist who’d ever lacked confidence, but by the end of 2004, the full swagger was back in his step. He’d significantly increased his wealth: The tour grossed nearly $90 million, the album was certified double platinum in the U.S. early in 2005, and it spurred sales of his entire catalog in an era when most people still bought CDs. But more importantly, it also marked the return of the Prince people knew, one who wasn’t completely refusing to be who he’d been, and not just musically: The weird outfits and otherworldly hairstyles had been replaced by sleek, classy suits and a short, trim cut.

The year’s creative efforts also gave him a model for how to pursue the rest of his career. Any time he wanted another million (or ten), he’d hit the road in some new and unusual way. Over the following years he played everything from a months-long Las Vegas residency to a premium-price one at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood; from a series of 21 dates at London’s Wembley Arena to a handful of shows in specific regions of the U.S. — even the Carolinas. He played brief “Hit and Run” tours that were announced just days before they launched; and of course he staged what is universally considered to be the greatest Super Bowl Halftime performance of all time in 2007. By contrast, his last tour, shortly before his death in 2016, was just him accompanying himself on piano. He kept finding new ways to keep himself interested.

And although he wouldn’t again reach the upper echelons of the charts in his lifetime and his albums continued to be frustratingly hit-or-miss, his sense of innovation returned with “3121,” the album that followed “Musicology” — on it, fans of “Sign O’ the Times,” which many regard as the peak of his creativity, could find much to grab onto, at least for the first half of the album. Unfortunately, most of the other albums he released in these years were maddeningly inconsistent (and sometimes appallingly bad) but although you won’t find any hidden “Purple Rain”s, there are overlooked gems to be found on many of them — like “Lavaux” and “Laydown” from “20Ten” (the latter of which features the priceless line, “from the heart of Minnesota/ Here come the purple Yoda”), and “Better With Time” and especially “ Ol’ Skool Company ” from “MPLSoUND.” Every once in a while on those albums and others, the Prince you love pops up with something so great it’s as if he’d never gone anywhere. And that’s really the gift of his scattershot, impossibly vast musical output — even though he’s no longer here, there’ll always be something new to find.

“Musicology” was the end of Prince’s wilderness years, and in every way, it set him up for the remaining dozen years of his much-too-brief life.

A Look Back at Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Wedding – Including How They Broke Royal Tradition!

From their eight-tier wedding cake to Kate's two designer gowns, the future Prince and Princess of Wales' 2011 royal wedding is unforgettable

Nicole Briese is a contributing writer at PEOPLE. She has been working at PEOPLE since 2022. Her work has previously appeared in Us Weekly, Brides and MTV News.

prince royce tour 2022 songs

Kate Middleton and Prince William made history on April 29, 2011, when they tied the knot in front of 1,900 guests at Westminster Abbey in London.

Thousands of people flooded the streets to celebrate the event, with several million more watching from home. “There was a swell of smiles and laughter when the cheers came from outside,” attendee Kate Wright told PEOPLE of the affair. “The congregation almost wanted to join in the cheering.”

While the couple favored eloquent and modest details for their big day, like Kate’s understated bouquet, other elements were done at full royal scale, like the eight-tier wedding cake that required removing a door in Buckingham Palace. Real trees and nearly 30,000 flowers were also brought into Westminster Abbey to give it an English country feel.

“We’re supposed to have a small family affair,” William joked to the crowd ahead of his nuptials.

Following the 11 a.m. ceremony, the Abbey’s bell rang for three hours — a practice reserved for special occasions.

The couple held two receptions, one of which was hosted by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace. Their second was a more intimate gathering thrown by King Charles and lasted well until 3 a.m. where the newlyweds celebrated with 300 of their closest family members and friends, including David and Victoria Beckham and Elton John .

“William and Kate were in the middle, giving it their all,” one guest told PEOPLE. “They really went for it. They were in the full party spirit and stayed until the last minute.”

John Stillwell - WPA/Getty

The pair, who met at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 2001, had long discussed the event. “We were planning it for at least a year, if not longer,” William told journalist Tom Bradby during their engagement interview. “It was just finding the right time.”

Their careful preparation also gave Princess Kate the opportunity to fully experience life as a royal before becoming one. “I wanted to give her a chance to see in and to back out if she needed to before it all got too much,” William said.

From their time-honored traditions to their A-list entertainment, here’s everything to know about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding.

Kate’s engagement ring once belonged to Princess Diana

Chris Jackson/Getty ; Tim Graham Photo Library via Getty

Prince William famously proposed to his future bride in Kenya in 2010 with his late mother’s 12-carat sapphire and diamond ring after carrying it around for three weeks.

“I literally would not let it go,” he told Bradby. “I knew, this thing, if it disappeared I would be in a lot of trouble. ... This was my way of keeping [my mother] sort of close to it all.”

The future King Charles first used the ring to propose to Princess Diana after she chose it from jeweler Garrard's catalog in 1981.

"It’s very, very special," Kate told Bradby.

Fifteen other royal couples have married at their wedding venue

Dominic Lipinski - WPA Pool/Getty

Prince William and Kate exchanged vows at London’s Westminster Abbey. Originally founded in 960 A.D. for worship, coronations and royal burials, the Abbey first served as a wedding venue to King Henry I and Princess Matilda of Scotland in 1100.

Since then, 15 other royal couples — including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip — have tied the knot at the church.

Kate’s wedding dress broke royal records

Pascal Le Segretain/Getty

Kate’s English Cluny lace and French Chantilly lace wedding gown was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. The long-sleeved dress also had a small piece of blue fabric sewn inside (her “something blue”), a 9-foot-long train and padded hips, which were designed to look like an opening flower.

When the dress was put on display for the public after the wedding, it broke royal visitation records: More than 600,000 people came to see its intricacies, which included four plant motifs on the skirt to represent England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The details were hand-appliquéd using an old Carrickmacross lace-making technique  — the bride’s “something old."

Kate's accessories covered the “something borrowed” and “something new” adages, including the Cartier Halo Tiara lent to her by the Queen. She also wore Robinson Pelham earrings , which were a gift from her parents, and featured an oak leaf with a pear-shaped diamond inspired by the Middletons’ new coat of arms.

William didn’t watch Kate walk down the aisle

Clara Molden - WPA Pool/Getty

Though Kate was a vision in her bespoke gown, William, who was waiting at the altar, never turned around to watch the future Princess of Wales make her way down the aisle.

As Kate processed down the aisle with her father, Michael Middleton , the prince remained facing forward for the entirety of her roughly four-minute march to keep in line with British wedding traditions, which typically see the groom and his best man looking straight ahead until the bride arrives at the altar.

William's brother, Prince Harry — who served as the best man — did sneak a peek at Kate as she headed to the altar and whispered to his brother, "Wait until you see her."

They honored several royal wedding traditions

Chris Jackson/Getty

Prince William and Kate’s nuptials were traditional in several ways. Though William opted to forgo a wedding band, Kate’s was made with Welsh gold. According to Clogau Gold , the same type of Welsh gold was used to make wedding bands for the Queen Mother in 1923, Queen Elizabeth in 1947, Princess Anne in 1973, Princess Diana in 1981 and Meghan Markle in 2018.

Kate also followed tradition by leaving her bouquet at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior , which serves as a tribute to those who died in World War I. The ritual was started by the Queen Mother in honor of her brother Fergus Bowes-Lyon, who was killed during the Battle of Loos in 1915.

Following their nuptials, the newlyweds rode in the then-109-year-old State Landau carriage — the same one that transported Charles and Diana on their wedding day — and shared a kiss on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, following in the footsteps of William's parents and Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson .

They broke some traditions, too

While many royal brides, including Queen Elizabeth, have said they would “obey” their husbands in their vows, Kate took a cue from her late mother-in-law and omitted that part in her vows, helping to start a new tradition. In 2018, Meghan Markle also omitted the word in her vows to Prince Harry .

Kate also forged a new path by having her sister, Pippa Middleton , as her maid of honor — a role that usually doesn’t exist in British royal weddings. Traditionally, only children typically make up the royal bridal party.

As for her transportation, Kate arrived at Westminster Abbey in a 1978 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI instead of a horse-drawn carriage.

Princess Kate went without a professional makeup artist on her big day. Instead, the royal bride opted to take lessons from makeup artist Arabella Preston at her private flat in London.

“Kate’s comfortable and confident in doing it herself,” wedding planner Mark Niemierko told PEOPLE in 2011.

Kate’s bouquet featured a nod to the groom

The future Princess of Wales' bouquet by Shane Connolly was made to be modest. According to the palace , the arrangement was made entirely of British flowers, including lily of the valley for happiness; hyacinth for constancy of love; ivy for fidelity; myrtle for marriage; and, in a nod to her groom, sweet William for gallantry.

The myrtle stems came from a bush grown from Queen Victoria ’s wedding bouquet in 1845 and Queen Elizabeth’s in 1947.

The aisle was lined with real trees

William and Kate’s artistic director of flowers, Shane Connolly, transformed the Abbey’s aisle into an “avenue of trees” with live field maples to symbolize reserve and humility and two hornbeams to represent resilience and strong love.

He topped it off with 30,000 white, green and cream flowers that were chosen to evoke an English country style, according to the BBC . "The aim is the Abbey looks unpretentious and simple and natural and that it reflects the fact that Catherine is a country girl at heart and that the couple are the best of British,” Connolly told the outlet.

The Daily Mail reported in October 2022 that six of the trees were replanted at the royal family’s 192-acre Llwynywermod estate in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

The bridal party made a splash

The royal bridal party consisted of four bridesmaids: Lady Louise Windsor , daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie , the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh; Grace van Cutsem, daughter of William’s friend Hugh van Cutsem; Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones , daughter of the Earl of Snowdon ; and Eliza Lopes , granddaughter of Queen Camilla . Three-year-old Grace stole the show when she covered her ears to drown out the roaring crowd on the palace balcony.

They were accompanied by two page boys: William Lowther-Pinkerton, son of William’s former secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton , and Tom Pettifer, the son of William and Harry’s former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke .

Staff had to remove a door to bring in the wedding cake

Prince William and Kate certainly didn’t skimp on their wedding cake. The pair had two confections to indulge in: CNN reported that William requested a chocolate biscuit cake in addition to their eight-tier, 3-foot-tall fruitcake.

The fruitcake was so large that a door had to be removed to fit it into the palace’s Picture Gallery. "I can remember her saying, 'I hear that you've been dismantling my house,' ” pastry chef Fiona Cairns recalled of the Queen in the ITV documentary The Day Will and Kate Got Married . "And I said to her, 'Well, we had to take a door down from the room below for the trolley to go through with the cake.' But it was all put back so in the end, it was fine.”

Made from 17 smaller cakes, the masterpiece was intricately detailed with piping and garland. It was decorated with 900 sugar-paste flowers, which took Cairns and her team five weeks to create. The confection also featured the same lace pattern from Kate’s dress.

The couple later served pieces of the cake at each of their three children's christenings.

Ellie Goulding performed at the reception

The bride and groom shared their first dance to Elton John's “Your Song,” performed by Ellie Goulding .

"I was so nervous that my hands were shaking," Goulding told Vogue Australia of her performance.

William and Kate, who also danced to the Beatles ’ “She Loves You” at their reception, were later treated to a second serenade from Goulding, who reportedly sang “Starry Eyed” for the pair.

For the reception, Kate changed out of her lace gown and into a white satin dress, also designed by Burton, with a strapless neckline and diamante around her waist. She topped it off with a fuzzy white stole.

Prince Harry and King Charles both gave speeches

Prince Harry wrote in his 2023 memoir, Spare , that he improvised much of his speech, during which he said that he loved Kate and called her “the sister he never had." He also expressed that she was perfect for his big brother, told stories about his time growing up with William and referenced their late mother, whom he said would have enjoyed watching his brother and Kate’s love blossom.

Charles also had a loving message for the bride and groom. London Chamber Orchestra music director Christopher Warren-Green recalled to PEOPLE: “Charles spoke so warmly about his small boy. He said it only seemed the day before yesterday when he was building [houses] out of chairs in the living room.”

As for Kate, Warren-Green said Charles acknowledged “how grateful he was to have such a lovely daughter now, and spoke about how much he knew she loved [William] and would support him.”
