Just as people are drawn to wildly unique destinations all around the world, romance is not one-size-fits-all.

Sparks fly for different reasons, and there are elements of a vacation that feel almost universally special for partners to enjoy together.

Perhaps the beauty of the best honeymoons , engagement trips, and anniversary extravaganzas is experiencing somewhere new hand in hand.

Whether it's a confection of technicolor facades lining cobblestone streets, pagodas and temples rising above lush forests, or a desert studded with rare wildlife, many destinations are ideal for romantic exploits. It doesn't hurt when there's bubbly and mind-blowing food involved, too.

Here are 11 destinations that speak to a variety of couples and offer that exciting sense of discovery imbued with romance.

Bali, Indonesia

So much of Southeast Asia is seductive, if only for having so many distinct environments that feel so otherworldly and far removed from home.

Indonesia's jewel of an island, Bali, exemplifies that. However, there's a multitude of additional reasons this mystical paradise (and many other destinations in the region) dependably delivers magic to those who visit.

French Polynesia

Romance can be many things to many people, but few can resist the allure of a romantic escape for two. While there's no wrong answer when it comes to romance, some of the world's most beautiful spots lend themselves to catering to couples, especially when it comes to hotels. So whether you're planning a honeymoon , an anniversary or a weekend getaway just because, these are our top picks for the most romantic places in the world, plus where to stay in each.

1. Amalfi Coast, Italy

From the naturally blessed shores of  Lake Como  right down to Sicily's heart-melting capital  Palermo , you could throw a dart anywhere on a map of Italy and land on one of the most romantic places in the world. It's spurred on much debate within the team but if we  had  to choose just one fuzzy-eyed spot in Italy, it's the Amalfi Coast. We're not alone in our admiration either. The Greeks, so taken by the area’s natural beauty, attributed it to a nymph who captivated the heart of Hercules. The  towns of Amalfi Coast  only add to the charm, with brightly hued houses dotted along the rocking hillside, each offering a unique outlook along with shops, restaurants and swimming spots that are up for discovery.

Where to stay: Pretty much all of the  best Amalfi Coast hotels  fit the bill for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. In terms of location, Borgo Santandrea in Amalfi is a winner, perched high in the cliffs and built into the rock face overlooking the sea. All rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and sea views. Palazzo Avino in Ravello has equally knock-out views, especially from the top-floor Infinito Suite with its large living room and a bathroom with a hot-tub-style bath. For a stay that pulls out all of the stops, it doesn't get much better than  Le Sirenuse , a Pompeii-style red and white building in the centre of Positano. The restaurant here, La Sponda, with its 400 candles and bougainvillaea-clad dining room, is quite possibly the most romantic in the region.

Confetti bursts of colourful tropical fish in gin-clear lagoons, freshly prepared breakfast spreads delivered to your private pool via floating trays, sipping a morning coffee while a manta ray soars underneath your feet – it's the stuff of honeymoon dreams and the much lauded reality of a trip to the Maldives. While there are plenty of family-friendly hotels in the Maldives , few places can compare to the archipelago country's innate sense for romance and adults-only stays. In terms of aesthetics, it's hard to beat Gili Lankanfushi Maldives , where all villas are stilted over one of the most eye-wateringly beautiful lagoons in the country, keeping the island wild and the beaches on full dazzling display.

3. Santorini, Greece

Santorini is the knockout Greek island – the island with the best views, the best sunsets, and the best hotels. Combine all of these elements and it's a recipe for one of the most romantic spots in the world. Days are best spent out on the water, sailing to nearby islands and hopping between the best beaches in Santorini . But then again you could easily stay at one of the best hotels in Santorini – where private infinity pools boast the best seats in the house – and never want to leave.

Where to stay: For one of the best views on the island, check in to cliffside Nobu Hotel , where the 25 luxe rooms and suites come with uninterrupted views of the Aegean. 4. Paris, France

When it comes to a romantic city break it's hard not to have all eyes on Paris . The clichés can't help but ring true when exploring the city, from serene strolls along the Seine to a glass of wine with a view at one of the best rooftop bars in Paris . 5. Marrakech, Morocco

For a winter sun escape

With  Morocco ’s year-round, bone-warming weather just a three-hour flight from  London , Marrakech makes for a sunny romantic escape when all is gloomy at home. And while the buzz of the Old City's winding souks and the sight of cobras dancing out of baskets make for a fun adventure, there are other sides to  Marrakech  away from the noise of Jemaa el-Fna square and the tourists at the Jardin Majorelle. For a slower and more private pace, swap the medina for the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech, followed by a drink at Grand Café de la Poste, one of the most beautiful restaurants in the city.

Where to stay: When it comes to places to stay, the list of best hotels in Marrakech has grown rampantly in recent years, but our favourite – and by far the most romantic – is still La Mamounia . Set in 20 acres of gardens just inside the walls of the Old City, the hotel has retained the feel of a palace but added a contemporary theatricality to its accommodation (which now includes three three-bedroom riads with their own pools), plus four restaurants, five bars and a Salon de Thé. For a pretty riad stay , reserve a traditional room at Riad Sadaka and don't forget your swimming costume – the courtyard pool is simply stunning.

6. Bali, Indonesia

The spiritual getaway

Bali is beloved as the land of a million islands, misty, mythical mountainous stacks, and chilled-out beach clubs . It's also the land of some of the most beautiful places to stay in the world. No matter how many five-star hotels open up though, Bali is no homogenized island resort. It's a magical, spiritual place, which manages to retain its authenticity and culture, as well as its unspoilt beaches and green tropical landscapes. All essential ingredients for a romantic stay.

Where to stay: The list of fabulous Bali hotels is always expanding, but for something more down to earth, look to Sandat Glamping tents , set among bright-green rice fields close to Ubud. Cuddling under canvas is less lumpy groundsheets and roof leaks, more canopy beds and private decks. Newcomer Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape , is a “no walls, no doors” resort with just 16 villas as well as a two-story central pavilion from which a dreamy, lounger-lined infinity pool protrudes into the valley.

7. Tulum, Mexico

For bohemian chic

The golden beaches of Mexico have long been a draw for couples, but one such spot is increasingly becoming the go-to for well-heeled couples seeking bohemian barefoot luxury. Just south of Cancun on the Yucatán Peninsula lies Tulum , the promised land of designer yoga, spiritual jungle journeys and ancient-temple-fringed sands. Plus some of the best hotels in Mexico .

Where to stay: Casa Malca is a former hacienda of Pablo Escobar’s, and now a boutique hotel highly curated by socialite art dealer Lio Malca. Down a dirt path and away from the scrums of man-buns and juiced-up goddesses, here beach suites face a quiet stretch of powder-white sand; all windows point to the Caribbean . The hotel itself is like one giant immersive art exhibition; the entrance has a huge door carved out of tree trunks, framed by curtains stitched from vintage wedding gowns, between which dangle two swings made of antique furniture. As Lio says, it’s about ‘connecting with yourself and the wild’ as well as ‘luxury and art’.

8. Big Sur, California

For the outdoorsy

Nature-lovers can’t help but fall for Big Sur , a wild and storied stretch of California’s central coast. Its bewitching blend of towering redwood forest, muscular green mountains and crashing ocean views has drawn everyone from bohemian writers (Henry Miller) to Hollywood heavyweights (Steve McQueen), seeking isolation in its eucalyptus-scented heart. Is there anything more seductive than hiking hand-in-hand to remote, wooded waterfalls or discovering your own dramatic, deserted beach ?

Where to stay: Look to Alila Ventana , which sprawls across a Big Sur mountain meadow and where suites have a rustic-luxe, cabin-esque vibe. 9. Seychelles

For island indulgence

The world ‘oohs’ and 'aahs' about the Maldives but smart travellers know the Seychelles warrants just as much fanfare. Thanks to the islands' remoteness – 1,600km off the east coast of Africa – they have never been cheap to visit, or, for that matter, on any cruise-ship itineraries. And there in lies the appeal.

Where to stay: Only the best of the best can set up a hotel in the Seychelles . One such address is the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles , a remote hillside retreat overlooking the bay of Petite Anse on the south-west coast of Mahé. The 67 stilted villas and suites feel like tree houses, peeping out from the jungle canopy of coconut, mango, jackfruit and cinnamon trees. All the obligatory features of the luxury 'Robinson Crusoe' experience are in place – infinity-edged plunge pools, open-air showers, glass-walled bathrooms and expansive outdoor living areas – but taken to another level. At Six Senses Zil Pasyon , the villas are also more akin to super-smart, minimalist tree-houses, secluded amid rocks and pristine forest.

10. New York

It may be a busy city, full of comings and goings and beeping traffic jams, but  New York  is no stranger to magical moments of romance. It usually hits the city when the first autumn leaves start to fall, blanketing the city in shades of auburn and ruby, crescendoing up until Christmas when leaves are swapped for twinkling lights. During this time one of the most romantic things to do in New York is to just take a walk, around Central Park, through Greenwich Village, along The High Line.

Where to stay: To lean into the romance of it all, play up to the old New York charms with a stay on the Upper East Side. There's  The Lowell  (pictured) on ritzy East 63rd Street, where bedrooms are the last word in elegance, with polished mahogany floors, Persian rugs and good, hand-made furniture. For pure relaxation amongst the chaos, check into the Aman in midtown, where the sprawling, three-floor spa and wellness centre has a 65-foot pool, plus not one but two spa houses – one centred around an Eastern European banya, the other a Moroccan hammam.

11. Ibiza, Spain

For island chic

As insiders will tell you, there's a lot more to Ibiza than meets the eye. Go off the beaten track even a fraction and you will discover a world of sleepy hill villages, wild forests, rambling orchards and crumbling farm houses. Time your visit to spring and a further surprise awaits: almond trees in full bloom, covering great swathes of the interior, with entire valleys exploding into glorious white and pink blossom. All this is complemented by an appealing combination of warm days and chilly nights.

Where to stay: Front-row seats for this extraordinary natural show are available at Cas Gasi , a 12-room property that spills down a hillside smothered in almond, fig and carob trees. Since opening in 1998, Cas Gasi has become known as one of the best hotels in Ibiza , particularly with high-profile guests who love its secluded location and low-key luxury. OKU Ibiza also has a privileged location that gives you access to the most beautiful beach spots on the island, along with wabi sabi–inspired design, two serene swimming pools, regular yoga sessions and fusion cuisine.

For romance by rail

There is something irresistibly romantic about luxury train travel . Add India to the mix and you've got an experience guaranteed to dazzle. In the heyday of the maharajas it was not unusual for royalty to travel with their furniture – four-poster beds, thrones, you name it. This is certainly the look the new Maharajas' Express is going for. One of the only luxury trains offering itineraries that cross India's state borders, 'Royal India' is a seven-day epic journey from Delhi to Mumbai , taking in Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur ( pictured above ) and Vadodara along the way.

Among the highlights is a decadent Champagne lunch on a hillock overlooking the Taj Mahal, a tiger-spotting jeep safari in Ranthambore National Park and elephant polo matches in Jaipur culminating in a Champagne dinner. Life on board is all about comfort. All the cabins and suites are wonderfully regal with huge windows, comfortable beds, LCD TV's and DVD players; but if your feeling particularly flush, book the two-bedroom Presidential Suite, which occupies an entire carriage and has a living room big enough for several comfortable sofas and a dining table. (The junior suite is also surprisingly roomy and much more reasonably priced.) Other treats include an observation carriage with its own bar, games table and club armchairs, and two fine-dining restaurants.

13. Antigua, Caribbean

The spa retreat

Accessed only by boat, the secluded, car-free private-island hideaway of Jumby Bay ( pictured above ), two miles off the coast of Antigua , offers the quintessential Caribbean experience. The standout for romance is the spa , set close to the beach and open to the elements, with five treatment rooms that open onto private terraces. The signature treatments use ingredients taken straight from the garden; one of the highlights is a treatment that involves lying in a soft, handmade hammock while a therapist focuses on pressure points in your head, back, hands and feet to release tension. You can then amble over to your thatched bohio (hut) on the beach, or to one of the many hammocks strung up between the palm trees. The resort is good for creative little extras: to help you enjoy the astonishing night sky, staff will pack a Champagne picnic dinner and send you off to star-gaze on Pasture Beach; there are also cookery classes for men, led by head chef Paolo Lovari, so while their partners indulge in spa treatments (not to generalise), they can learn how to make everything from ceviche to Caribbean lobster bisque.

14. Venice, Italy

For a hit to all the senses

In any line-up of the world’s most romantic cities, Venice has long been blazing a trail. This jewel-box city has an extraordinary ability to seduce every one of its visitors – whether it’s via the haunting cry of a gondolier bouncing off the city’s ancient stone walls; the awe and wonder of sighting a Caravaggio in a backstreet church, or the first sip of a perfectly sweet Bellini in a tiny cicchetti bar stumbled upon by chance. Skip the summer, when oppressive crowds steal much of Venice ’s romance and come in winter instead – the city becomes intoxicatingly quiet, and you’ll get most of the big-ticket sites all to yourself. To dial up the romance, whoosh in on the Venice-Simplon Orient Express : it’s hands-down the most lavish train journey in the world, and guaranteed to whisk you straight back to the golden age of travel.

Where to stay: If you’ve got deep pockets, you can’t beat a stay at  Aman Venice  – the gilded ballrooms, Murano chandeliers and priceless frescoes were good enough for the Clooney’s wedding night. But if you want to flee the paparazzi, float across the lagoon to  Belmond Hotel Cipriani , a little pocket of peace with romantic rose and hydrangea-filled gardens and an enormous pool with views across to St Mark’s Square. Slightly further afield but no less magical,  Casa Burano offers a more laidback, affordable stay, squirrelled away in a string of candy-coloured fishermen’s houses on film-set pretty Burano. The island can get busy at times, but once the day-trippers vanish, there’s no better place to catch one of Venice’s famous fuchsia-pink sunsets.

15. Buenos Aires, Argentina

For flinging on your dancing shoes

Buenos Aires is often touted as South America’s answer to Paris. Yet there’s far more to the sultry Argentinean capital than it’s intoxicating collision of European and Latin American cultures. This enduringly sexy city is an endless love affair of tango, sizzling asado and big, full-bodied wines – and most definitely a place to get dressed up and stay out late. A crop of exciting young chefs is revolutionising the city’s thrillingly unpretentious food scene, and buzzy rooftop cocktail bars are slowly taking over the city. And of course, there’s no better way to get under Buenos Aires’ skin than by learning the art of the world’s most passionate dance – even better if it’s done at a traditional, dimly-lit  milonga .

Where to stay: Palacio Duhau dominates Buenos Aires’ hotel scene – inside, it’s a feast of glittering chandeliers and marble floors, while the candlelit terrace at restaurant Los Salones del Piano Nobile is an unbeatable date night spot. For a more authentic experience in the heart of trendy foodie neighbourhood Palermo,  Home is a hipsters’ hangout with a tiny pool flanked by blousy jacaranda trees and the smell of jasmine lingering in the air. The delightful staff are the hotel’s biggest asset – miraculously appearing exactly when you need them, but utterly tuned in to knowing when you just want to be left alone with your significant other.

16. Iceland

For adventurous spirit

It's hard not to fall for Iceland’s awe-inspiring primal landscapes. The country delivers a hit of romance and adventure in equal measure, and in winter – when short days shout out for cosy nights snuggled by the fire, and there’s a decent chance of spotting the elusive Northern Lights dance across the eerily dark skies – there’s no better time to visit this Nordic superstar. To take it all in, hire a car and hit the 828-mile Ring Road route – wending its way along the country’s entire coastal region, it’s one of the world’s most romantic road trips, swishing past the glaciers, geysers and black sand beaches Iceland is so famous for.

Where to stay: There are plenty of cute cabins to book into along the way: we particularly like the look of  this one , touching distance from Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s most breathtaking waterfalls. To really hole up and hide away, book into  Deplar Farm : deep in the ravishingly remote, bleak but beautiful Tröllaskagi Peninsula, this is one of Europe’s most isolated lodges – and a stay here truly is a once-in-a-lifetime treat. In Reykjavik, the Edition has warm and inviting rooms, with Italian furnishings made from ash wood and floor-to-ceiling windows that either frame the fjord and Mt. Esja or views of downtown.

17. Hamilton Island, Australia

For adventurous couples

Forget for a moment that the Whitsundays’ largest inhabited island is positioned right beside Heart Reef (exactly as it sounds: a perfectly heart-shaped coral reef). Because Hamilton Island isn’t for your typical doe-eyed duo – more for those possessing an affinity with the Australian fixation for flinging yourself into adrenalin-pumping stuff. The immaculate waters of the Great Barrier Reef offer world-class dive sites to discover together, while the island’s off-road trails provide a white-knuckle rush deep into the bush.

Where to stay: After a thrilling helicopter ride over this insanely Eden-esque landscape, daredevils can decompress at Qualia , a smart property on its own peninsula. It has 60 secluded one-bedroom, glass-walled pavilions, with private sundecks for gazing over the water – some with their own infinity-edged pool.

18. French Polynesia

The off-grid escape

Want to run away together? No one will find you at The Brando , an all-villa, super-exclusive hideaway on a private South Pacific island (30 miles north of Tahiti, but accessible only by six-seater plane). We’ve got the likes of Cezanne, Renoir and Van Gogh to thank for parcelling up the pure timeless romance of Provence. A post-impressionist haze of higgledy-piggledy medieval hamlets, rolling olive groves and sunflowers lined up in serried ranks, Provence is the perfect setting for giddy sun-baked afternoons sipping rosé under the shade of a cypress tree, pedalling through lavender fields or hopping between vineyards.

Where to stay: There’s no shortage of romantic hotels to live out your Provençal fantasy in.  Crillon Le Brave’s  ramble of wisteria-tangled honey-stone buildings dominates an entire hilltop village; the best suites resemble private pieds-à-terre, with side-by-side rolltop baths and all-consuming views over the muted pastoral landscape. A little further south,  Chateau Saint Martin  is an ideal base for art lovers keen to explore gallery-laced St-Paul-de-Vence, brimming with pétanque-playing locals and home to the legendary family-run restaurant La Colombe d’Or. Back at the hotel, there’s a knockout spa (treatments can be taken in the rose garden on sunny days), and a Michelin-starred restaurant with neatly framed views of the glittering Cote d’Azur. Up here in the hills, you’re in proper fairy-tale Provence – and it’s the absolute antithesis to its see-and-be-seen coastal neighbour.

20. Kyoto, Japan

From the weeping willows and paper lanterns of the historic Gion district to serene, manicured gardens and tinkling temple bells, Kyoto is a completely charming urban retreat. The antithesis of frenetic, futuristic Tokyo, it’s an immersion into the romance of a bygone Japan. And that romance really ramps up when you take a boat ride along the Oi River, where city streets are slowly transposed with misty, wooded hills.

Better yet, bathrooms have deep, cypress tubs, with seasonal herbs provided to infuse your soak.

21. Botswana, Africa

For getting up-close with nature

To see Africa at its beguiling best, head to Botswana. The government here has put sustainability at its heart, shunning a revolving door tourism model in favour of low-volume, high-value stays. It’s a brilliant ploy to prevent the country’s precious national parks from becoming overrun, and in turn, Botswana has become one of the most exclusive spots for a safari – perhaps best known for epic wildlife-spotting opportunities and plum stays in some of Africa’s finest and most intimate lodges. Sure, you might not tick off all of the Big Five while you’re here, but instead of sitting in a bottleneck of 4x4s, you can cruise silently through the Okavango Delta’s network of waterways in a dugout canoe, or quadbike across the arid wilderness of the Makgadikgadi salt pans. There’s something utterly hallucinatory about the silence and seclusion; serene hot air balloon rides stand in for gas-guzzling helicopter flights, while nights in billowing white tents are paired with G&Ts around firepits and sleepouts with your lover under the starry skies.

Where to stay: A little oasis in the middle of the Kalahari Desert,  Jack’s Camp  is one of Botswana’s smartest places to stay, and the camp’s mahogany furniture and four-poster beds smack of old-world glamour. If you prefer something a little more modern,  Xigera Lodge  is an ultra-sustainable, off-grid choice – and it's filled to the brim with specially-commissioned works from exciting young African artists. It is here that sheep outnumber people, and this true remove is utterly romantic––as though you’ve absconded with your lover to an Eden shrouded in mist, and so long as you remain the troubles of the world beyond do not concern you. The former farm accommodates no more than 32 guests at a time and is therefore perennially quiet and contemplative, and the range of activities in the wintertime is particularly spectacular. Santa Marina, a Luxury Collection Resort, Mykonos Arrow

Destinations editor Shannon McMahon journeyed here for her honeymoon, a choice she does not regret in the slightest. In fact, she deems it a hotel “to plan your entire trip around”. It’s the only sandy stretch of private beach on Mykonos —A.K.A. the only spot on the island where you can guarantee some sustained peace and quiet from ceaseless throngs of partygoers—but this is not all that sets the Santa Marina apart from other island hotels. Here’s a riddle for you: What’s better than doing nothing at all? Doing nothing at all in Bora Bora. Whether you’re a honeymooner or a parent in need of a break, this French Polynesian paradise feels worlds away from the minutiae of the everyday; and with little but miles of crystalline waters in sight, you and your partner will have almost nothing to distract you from one another. At this luxe Four Seasons outpost, there are several multi-bedroom beachfront villas and overwater bungalow suites (with either lagoon or mountain views) to choose from. But for the full experience, we’d suggest booking one of the specialty overwater bungalow suites ; these one-bedroom set-ups offer nearly 1,600 square feet of space to move around, plus a deck that runs the length of your bungalow or a private plunge pool. Grand Hotel Tremezzo — Lake Como, Italy Arrow

In family hands since its opening in 1910, the Grand Hotel Tremezzo is about as grand as they come. Situated right on the shores of Lake Como, it’s a spot that has long been setting the standards for European luxury hotels—it’s difficult to find the hotel reviewed or mentioned without a nod to the ever-updating, always-on-their-game staff and facilities (they do, after all, shutter every winter for renovations). It’s very formal, make no mistake, but this is a place that is designed for you to stay there through all hours of the day—dine  Lady and the Tramp -style on handmade pastas with shaved truffles at La Terrazza, take in the scene with a digestivo on the terrace of TBar, swim in the pool that floats on the lake, and sleep on silk linens and a feather mattress topper.

andBeyond Benguerra Island — Mozambique Arrow

Getting to this resort off the coast of Mozambique , in the spectacularly sun-dappled Bazaruto Archipelago, takes time: the most efficient route is to fly from Johannesburg to Vilankulos, then hopping an eight-minute helicopter ride to Benguerra Island. But a bucket list experience like this is worth the extra effort. Once there, you'll find a low-key paradise with plenty to explore—and with around 140 species of birds, from kingfishers to flamingos, and just 10 casinhas, two cabanas, and one three-bedroom casa, you’re almost more likely to encounter the local wildlife than other people. You’ll want to spend days lazing on its perfect beaches, with views of the surrounding lagoon—but there’s also horseback riding, sunset cruising on a traditional dhow, and big game fishing to be sampled. You can bet that just about every detail at this palatial Marrakech hotel, which took more than three years and 1,200 master craftsmen to build, aims to please. Each of the 53 individual three-story riads (villas) have a mini courtyard (with a canopy that automatically unfurls if rain is detected); a dazzling living room and bedroom with silk-covered walls; a private rooftop terrace with a fireplace and heated plunge pool, and 24/7 private butler service—because of course. If you do decide to leave your room, (though, you very well may not) head to the spa, venture into a shopping trip like none other, and try one of the three superb restaurants: La Grande Table Marocaine and La Grande Table Française, both overseen by chef Yannick Alléno from Paris’s Le Meurice , and Le Sesamo, from chef Massimiliano Alajmo. Le Jardin, the verdant garden designed by Spanish landscape architect Luis Vallejo, stretches across more than six acres, and comprises the pool and the restaurant of the same name. It’s perfect for a stroll at dusk—though it also debuted an extension this spring, adding an herb garden, an organic vegetable orchard, and an artist’s residence.

COMO Shambhala Estate — Bali Arrow

Eyebrow-arching views greet you as you arrive at COMO Shambhala Estate on the island of Bali , a jungle-hugged designer health retreat on staggered hilltops above the Ayung River. For more than two decades, COMO Shambhala has reigned as a five-star refuge for luxury travelers looking to say farewell to stress and hello to spiritual development. East meets West at each of its 30 rooms, suites, and pool villas, whose otherwise spare interiors house hand carvings and fine antiques. Les Fermes de Marie — France Arrow

This pioneering, chalet-style hotel was built from scratch in 1989 out of old timbers salvaged from Savoyard farmhouses. It was the brainchild of local couple Jocelyne and Jean-Louis Sibuet, who went on to create a mini empire of small, interesting properties scattered across the Alps, Lyon, Provence, and St. Bart’s. Along with all that gorgeous pine—sloping beamed ceilings, slated wood terraces, four-posters, and open fireplaces—comes comfort: a cozy mix of textures and muted shades from silvered cow-skin rugs and creamy flannels to soft wool plaids and deep leather sofas, plus the occasional baroque carved antique. After a stint on the powdery slopes, have lunch on the terrace of Le Restaurant Alpin and order the divine three-cheese fondue—worth every calorie. Those who aren’t die-hard ski bums can work it off in the heated indoor pool at the Pure Altitude Spa, where signature treatments are packed with Arctic berries, botanical extracts, and anti-aging mountain edelweiss. 

Marbella Club — Spain Arrow

A veritable village on the Andalusian coast (Andalusian alone being a rather romantic proper noun, conjuring images of caressed cheeks, horses running free, and all-around beauty), Marbella Club feels like a place where one can properly shack up. Originally a string of buildings used to dry figs (a particularly sensual fruit), this compound is meant to be wandered not with purpose but at ease—one can just hear the, “Oh, honey, we should check this out” floating on the breeze as another couple stumbles upon new restaurant El Mirage. The style here is Moorish, all creamy linens, painted tiles, and lush gardens, and the people are bohemian and beautiful. Beneath abundant citrus trees, soak it all in.

The Chanler at Cliff Walk — Rhode Island Arrow

For a true taste of American history, we bet The Age of Innocence began and never ended at this opulent seaside resort. Newport has long catered to the country’s upper-crust, and you likely would have bumped into a Vanderbilt at The Chanler at Cliff Walk in the late 1800s. Today, rooms are decorated in the styles of different historical periods, each more extravagant than the next. Our favorite is the Martha’s Vineyard villa, an ocean-view beauty with a mantled fireplace, prim blue chairs, and a full-canopied four-poster king bed with an intricately carved wooden frame as the focal point. Come summer, book one of its three private yurts, where you can enjoy a light, prix-fixe dinner (think: fresh tomato salad, whitefish crudo) along with the ocean breeze. There’s a reason—or ten—why this place has often been voted the most romantic hotel in America .

Tierra Patagonia Arrow

There’s something about feeling like you’re teetering at the far margins of the world—albeit with the person you love—that’s undeniably romantic. And at the 40-room Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa, set on the edge of Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia, you and your partner will feel as though you’re really out there. Banked with earth and clad in lenga beechwood, the low-slung hotel winds for 650 feet along the base of a bluff, its aerodynamic shape barely interrupting the gales that whip in from Patagonia’s Southern Ice Field; guest rooms are understated, outfitted in a clean palette of wood, wool, and leather, all to emphasize the spectacular views of pampa and peak beyond. The hotel offers guided excursions within and around the park, including hiking trips and adventures on horseback; spend the day exploring, then retreat to your superior room, where you can continue to marvel at the views from the warm waters of a deep-soak bathtub.

Twin Farms — Vermont Arrow

Spread across 300 acres of rolling hills and rambling trails, Vermont’s bucolic Twin Farms evokes a sort of country romance—it’s a sensation befitting a place purchased by Nobel Prize-winning writer Sinclair Lewis for his wife, journalist Dorothy Thompson, as part of his engagement promise to her. With just 20 accommodations, including cottages and rooms in a farmhouse, the resort is at once intimate and charming, but doesn’t skimp on modern perks. The rate is all-inclusive, folding in the hotel’s locally sourced, rightfully acclaimed food—which changes so regularly that chef Nathan Rich won’t even put out a daily menu—and glasses of vino from the property’s 15,000-bottle collection selected by sommelier Keven Ring. (And if you’d prefer to enjoy your meal in your room rather than in one of the dining areas, that can be arranged, too.) But dinner isn’t the only meal that should be special; the hotel offers picnics to-go, too, which you can tuck into after a long wander in the woods. The baskets, of course, change seasonally; during the summer, you might have a Vermont cheese and charcuterie with garden tomato salad, while the winter might yield a hearty beef chili.

Hotel Esencia — Mexico Arrow

Right on Xpu-ha Beach, the best stretch of white sands on this part of Mexico’s Caribbean coast , Esencia is one of those hotels that is spoken about in hushed tones by bohemians in the know, none of whom want to let this secret get out. But those who do make it here discover a small, natural beauty of place set on a palm-swaying estate on the edge of the tumbling sea. There are hammocks to laze in, and a dimly lit spa where bespoke blends—made from ingredients harvested from the waters of the Caribbean and the surrounding Mayan jungle—are crushed into poultices to help smooth out knots. For snorkeling among rainbow-colored fish, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef is a five-minute hop on the hotel’s catamaran. Hungry? There are ceviches and tacos to try at Mistura, a restaurant with views of the moon-dappled sea, and a wooden beach bar housed under a two-story palapa that does the best margaritas in Mexico. And then, of course, there are the rooms: the interiors of the house, originally built as a hideaway for an Italian duchess, have splashes of 1950s art and huge bedrooms with generous terraces; Jungle Suites with plunge pools (some indoor, some outdoor) and beach suites are a study in white.

There’s no shortage of things to see and do in historic Kyoto , including Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, and the cherry blossoms that burst to life each spring. But if you’re looking for a heartier dose of nature to complement your daily dose of culture, the Aman, set in the city’s northern suburbs, is where you want to check in. Surrounded by hilly woodland and criss-crossed by coursing streams and moss-covered paths, it feels worlds away from everyday stresses—and that’s the point. Once you withdraw from the city, you can relish the resort’s sublimely quiet, peaceful feel, exploring the forested slopes it shares with the nearby Kinkaku-ji Temple, or Temple of the Golden Pavilion, a protected UNESCO site, and strolling the property’s lush garden, where camellias bloom in winter and azaleas arrive in summer. Add to that meditation sessions with a zen Buddhist monk and the chance to dip into the mineral hot springs in the resort’s onsen bathing pools, and you’ll find a thoughtful, almost unexpectedly romantic trip that allows you both the chance to relax and regroup on your own terms.

Jumby Bay Island — Antigua Arrow

This 300-acre private island off the North coast of Antigua delivers a level of comfort possible only in the Caribbean. The terrain is rugged and wild, populated with darting lizards and free from any traffic that isn’t embarked on foot—it’s a “no cars, no keys” policy here. Come and go as you please from your suite or villa to any of the three restaurants, spa, several beaches, and all around the island. Whether you go for the suite or the villa, there’s plenty of room to play house: each suite has a bright entry courtyard of its own outfitted with wicker chair swings and a terrace overlooking the beach. 

Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel, Anguilla Arrow

When it first debuted in 1988, Cap Juluca quickly became a favorite of the jet-set, who were drawn in by the pristine sands of Maundays Bay and the airy, Moroccan-style domed villas that dot them. By the time Belmond acquired the property in 2017, an update was long overdue—and just a week after they closed it, Hurricane Irma rolled through, destroying everything but those sugar-cube villas. It reopened again in late 2018 with five new villas, two new restaurants (including a revamped Pimms), and a gleaming spa—when just days later, LVMH announced it had reached a deal to acquire Belmond, as sure a sign as any that the smart set will continue to find their way to this Maundays Bay luxury resort for years to come. Of course, you’ll spend plenty of your time laying out on the beach, but don’t ditch the villas during the daytime altogether—outfitted with four-poster beds, linen curtains that balloon when the door opens, and soft Beni Ourain carpets, they transform a late-afternoon nap into a pleasure without the guilt.

Adare Manor – Ireland Arrow

Adare is a delicious mix of old and new. Barely 30 minutes from Shannon Airport, it’s one of the closest country manors U.S. travelers can reach for an uber-green, romantic getaway in Ireland . (It's also an easy two-hour drive from Dublin .) While retaining an old-school, aristocratic vibe, Adare's fanciful gargoyles, genuinely warm staff, grand and intimate spaces, and super-comfortable rooms make it somewhere uniquely and unabashedly the Ireland of right now—with a recently redesigned golf course, courtesy of pro architect Tom Fazio, and falconry to boot. Also of note here: There are 365 leaded windows, 52 ornate chimneys, four towers, and seven stone pillars, symbolizing the days, weeks, and seasons in a year, and the number of days in a week. (When it was built in 1860, it was in the Neo-Gothic “calendar house” style.) A good omen for long-lasting relationships, no?

Malibu Beach Inn Arrow

Malibu Beach Inn democratizes the famously beautiful Los Angeles enclave’s “Billionaire’s Beach” with its station along the row. “Stay a night”, the inn beckons, “Enjoy the views our neighbors spent unspeakable amounts of money for.” The rooms are tidy, lots of warm-finished wood and neutral colors, but you’ll want to spend as much time as you can outside. It’s not just what you see, by the way, but the entire sensory experience—crashing waves audible from your personal balcony and from the terrace restaurant, as well as just about everywhere else, and crisp salty air lulling you into a peace that’s impossible to break. Spot wales, dig into some branzino, sip a local red, and just  enjoy . 

Six Senses Douro Valley Arrow

Wellness and wine may not seem like a natural fit—at least not if you go by the ascetic, alcohol-free programs of other health-focused retreats. But at this hotel, set amid the rolling vineyards of Portugal’s Douro Valley, they go together perfectly. Spend your days in the sunshine, luxuriating by the outdoor pool (or the indoor one, if the weather doesn’t cooperate), followed by an antioxidant grape facial or a deep tissue massage in one of its spa’s 10 treatment rooms; or sign up for one of the dozens of experiences on offer, including a jaunt to the local villages (via Tesla), where you can see the recently restored 12th-century Cistercian monasteries of S. João de Tarouca and Salzedas, followed by a tour of Quinta Viscondes da Várzea, an 18th-century manor house, and take a cooking class in its old school kitchen. There’s plenty to get you all the way outdoors, too, including helicopter tours, kayaking on the namesake river, and even good old-fashioned tree climbing, complete with climbing gear. And of course, there are ample opportunities to sample the local vino, both on property and off: for the former, book a session in the hotel’s wine library, where you can learn the basics of wine making and try a few yourself; for the latter, take a coordinated visit to some of the area’s boutique wineries, and try something new together.

Hotel Wailea — Maui Arrow

One of the best resorts in Hawaii, according to our readers , isn't beachfront. But that's actually a positive at Hawaii's only luxury adults-only resort, with 72 suites spread over 15 acres with 180-degree views of neighboring Lanai and Kaho‘olawe. Though there's a shuttle to the beach (and attendants to help you with umbrellas, towels, and the like once you hit the sand), be sure to put your vacation in the hands of the incredible staff. Allow them to organize a beach picnic—a gourmet spread to be enjoyed at sunset. You can also arrange kiteboarding lessons, sunset sailing, and aerial yoga. Fan of vintage cars? Take the drive of your dreams in Hotel Wailea's 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster reproduction—provided you know how to drive manual, that is.

The Mark — New York City Arrow

Unassuming in every way—we’re talking dimly lit hallways with pale blue doors and a hot dog stand in the lobby with a menu by Jean-Georges Vongeritchen—The Mark’s pleasures are as discrete as they are bountiful. Clipped white roses sat beautifully arranged on Florio’s dressing table during her stay there, and she notes a particularly deep bathtub on hand for sleepy soaks. This is what it must feel like, one can’t help but think, to keep a pied-a-terre uptown, to come and go at your leisure in Manhattan’s most exclusive neighborhood. It’s important to note that, at this address between Fifth and Madison, you are not far from Central Park. The Mark does not take such proximity for granted, offering to deliver guests an all-out picnic via pedicab complete with basket, blankets, and loungers.

Hôtel du Palais Biarritz — France Arrow

Biarritz, the buzzy resort town, was put on the map in 1854 when Napoleon III scooped up a beachfront property there and erected a monument of his love for wife Empress Eugénie in the form of a tremendous vacation home. In 1892, this palace became the Hotel du Palais, and in 2021 this hotel reopened after a tremendously ambitious 4-year renovation. After all of these years and all of these changes, the sense of tender and decadent dedication not only remains but prevails. Think a ballroom frescoed with fairytales perfect for a waltz, and a sumptuous bar lit by a 900-pound crystal chandelier. Loveliest of all is the vast Guerlain Imperial Spa, named for the perfumier who invented a cologne special just for Eugénie. Within these walls, everything is a gift crafted specially for you. 

Alila Ventana Big Sur Arrow

This beloved Big Sur resort dramatically overlooking the Pacific and surrounded by acres of forest received a total reboot in 2017. And while it may look new—rooms have all been updated with plenty of wood and neutrals, 15 luxe safari-style tents have been added to the roster (though tent guests don’t currently have access to the resort, and are no longer subject to the resort fee) and the spa got a relaxation deck that looks out at the ocean—it hasn’t lost its laid-back 1970s vibe. If you want to totally disconnect, and plug in those connectivity-deprived gaps with hiking, forest bathing, spa treatments, and yoga, it’s for sure worth it. There really is something for everyone here—except for maybe the type-A person who needs lots of scheduled activities. While most people think of Paris or the Amalfi Coast for the most romantic destionations, we've found some new ones that we fell in love with while traveling as a couple.

From unique glamping spots to charming villages, these destinations are perfect for couples, and make excellent spots for a romantic getaway. Let's dive right in!

The Most Romantic Places to Travel in the World in Europe

Out of all regions of the world, Europe definitely is home to the most romantic places to travel in the world. Full of charming old villages, beautiful views, and iconic monuments, it's impossible not to enjoy a bit of romance in some of these cities.

1. Verona, Italy

Italy is definitely one of the most romantic places to travel in the world. But while most flock to Venice, Rome , and Milan , we have some other recommendations for the couples out there.

Not only is Verona easily accessible from Venice or Milan, but it is the charming destination we've all been waiting for. It's actually known for being the home to the story of Romeo and Juliet, and you can even visit Juliet's balcony!

If that doesn't sell you enough on the idea, head to Castel San Peitro for sunset, where you can have the most romantic view.

2. Ios, Greece

Move over Santorini and Mykonos! While these stunning islands typically steal the spotlight, the island of Milos is the up and coming island destination for romance.

Ios is quieter than the other famous islands, it has adorable villages, and also is home to one of the most romantic hotels in the world.

Soak in a hot tub, lay in a swinging bed, and sip champagne at one of the most romantic hotels in the world - Calilo in Ios .

3. Ayia Napa, Cyprus

When it comes to romantic places to travel in the world, we could easily choose the entire island of Cyprus. Half Greek and half Turkish, this island is full of turquoise waters, charming villages, and the msot delicious food.

But there is a particular area of Cyprus that we really loved, which is Ayia Napa. It's home to the best beaches, and has pleny of opportunities for couples to enjoy some fun in the sun.

Just 45 minutes outside of Ayia Napa, we stayed at an incredibly romantic hotel called Athenio . It's family run, has delicous food, and is beautifully lit at night for a truly romantic evening.

4. Etretat, France

Move over Paris, we found one of the most romantic places in the world, and it's just a few hours west of France's capital.

Etretat is a small coastal town with beautiful gardens, giant cliffs, and a handful of beaches to explore. But what makes it super romantic are the views at sunset from the top of the cliffs.

There is even a secret cave that has a window with views of the beach down below. Head there for sunset and grab a bottle of wine and some cheese for a truly romantic evening with your significant other.

5. Dordogne, France

If you're looking to roam fairytale villages and sip on some good wine, then Dordogne is the place for you.

With it's charming waterfront villages, old architecture, and beautiful gardens, Dordogne may just be the most romantic area of France, and definitely one of the most romantic places to travel in the world.

6. La Gomera, the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are some of the most beautiful and diverse islands in the world! While we love all of them, we particularly choose La Gomera as one of the most romantic places to travel in the world because of its special unique experiences.

We traveled the island by van, and every morning the sunrises were simply magical, with incredible views of El Teide Volcano in Tenerife. We cozied up in the van at night, but were ready to hit the beaches during the day.

THe best part though? There is an exclusive cave inside a resort that you can rent out for lunch or dinner. Your food and drinks are delivered via a cable, so you can enjoy a romantic dinner together. There is even a bed included! Talk about adding a bit of spice to your trip.

7. Lake Bled, Slovenia

Lake Bled truly feels like your stepping into a fairytale, and is one of the most romantic places to travel in the world for the nature lovers out there.

9. Lapland, Finland

Lapland may just be the most magical winter wonderland in the world. Imagine blankets of snowier massive forests, reindeer or husky sledding, and the northern lights.

In Lapland you can stay cozy in incredible glass igloos to watch the sky dance with colors, warm up in the saunas, soak in hot tubs, and even visit Santa Clause's village! It truly is one of the most romantic places to travel in the world, and extra magical in the winter time.

10. Lofoten Islands

The Lofoten Islands are some of the most grorgeous islands on Earth, and for us was one of the most romantic destinations in the world. 

Visit in the summer and you'll be able to experience 24 hours of sunlight, charming fishing villages, and some of the most gorgeous hikes we have ever experienced, which are particularly romantic to spend sunset to sunrise (it never gets dark).

Visit in the winter time, and you'll have an incredible shot at seeing the northern lights. Cozy up in a cute red cabin, sip hot chocolate, and enjoy the sky dancing with colors.

The Lofoten Islands is one of the most beautiful island chains in the world.

11. Tbilisi, Georgia

Tbilisi just may be one of the most underrated capitals in Europe, and it's perfect for a romantic getaway.

Georgia has amazing comfort food and wine, affordable glamping experiences, and quirky architecture. But what we particularly love about Tbilisi is the area of thermal baths right in the city center. 

We spent our anniversary in Tbilisi, and Fede took me to the most famous Spa in town (Orbeliani). There is a special private room that they set up with music, massage beds, and a pool to enjoy, making it a great place for a special romantic occasion.

While we personally think Europe is full of many more romantic places to travel in the world, the Americas also have some notable places we believe are perfect for a quick romantic getaway.

12. St Augustine, Florida

So many people flock to Florida for romantic getaways, but this town is so much more than just a quick beach weekend (although it does have a beach too!). 

St Augustine is the oldest registered city in the entire country, and is also one of the most charming. Not only that, but from mid November until January the historic town has "night of lights", when the entire city is draped with lights, making it even more magical for couples to enjoy.

For a super romantic local stay, we recommend Lions and Lanterns, which is run by a local Josie who creates incredibly stunning rooms to rent her guests.

13. Guanajuato, Mexico

Guanajuato may just be one of the most underrated destination in Mexico. While most flock to the beaches of Mexico, this city boasts vibrant colors, and is made of over 1,000 alleys!

Join a callejoneada (a musical walking tour), roam the quaint streets, or even stay in a castle for the night! Like Verona, Guanajuato also features a balcony with a tragic love story, just like Romeo and Juliet.

Guanajuato is the enchanting European city of Mexico, and definitely was one of the most romantic places in the world we've traveled to.

14. San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Just an hour and a half away from Guanajuato is another charming city in Mexico that is super romantic.

San Miguel de Allende is known for its large pink Disney-looking cathedral, its stunning architecture, and a really romantic spa in town.

For a bonus, you can also stay in a hotel filled with suns! It's honestly one of the cutest hotels we came across in Mexico.

15. Parc Omega, Canada

Just 90 minutes outside Montreal is one of the most unique accommodation experiences, where you can sleep amongst the wolves!

In a beautiful glass cabin you can cozy up while experiencing these furry friends just outside your door. Th epark itself has a lot to offer, and staying here (especially in the winter) makes it one of the most romantic places to travel in the world.

The Most Romantic Places to Travel in the Caribbean

The Caribbean is the pretty typical romantic getaway destination. It's hot, the beaches are beautiful, and time goes a bit slower. But we're just going to share a couple of our favorites.

16. St Maarten

We may be a bit biased on this one, because it's one of the first places we explored together while working on a cruise ship .

St Maarten is a pretty special island though, as it belongs to two countries, and has a variety to offer. You can rent an ATV together to explore the small hidden beaches, watch the planes fly over at Maho Beach, or take a romantic boat ride around the prisitine Caribbean waters.

St Maarten has a lot to offer! Whether you're a couple that wants adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, you can find this island to be one of the most romantic places to travel in the world.

17. St John

As an American, visiting the US Virgin Islands is very convenient and frills-free! While most flock to St Thomas, we love St John more when it comes to romantic places to travel in the world.

There are far less tourists, the beaches are pristine, and it's great for a relaxing getaway with your other half.

Costa Rica is the perfect area to visit for the adventure couples out there! With wild landscapes and a variety of activities, it's a great place to get away for those that want a bit more than just a romantic getaway. Here are a couple of our personal favorites.

18. La Ruta de las Flores El Salvador

El Salvador is definitely one of the most underrated destinations in Central America, and has so many great experiences for couples!

La Ruta de las Flores is a region of 5 towns north of the capital where you can have delicious coffee, indulge in a lot of local cuisine, shop at craft markets, and go waterfall chasing. But the real reason we chose this area for one of the most romantic places to travel in the world? It's because of the nearby hot spring waterfall .

Soak in steamy waters with your partner and watch the sunset together with this uniuque location in El Salvador. Looking for more romantic spots? Relax at the resort in Mizata, or explore the black sand beach with cliffs surrounding it in Shalpa.

19. La Fortuna, Costa Rica

A land of waterfalls and volcanoes await in the jungles of Costa Rica, making La Fortuna one of the most romantic places to travel in the world.

La Fortuna has a number of luxury thermal spas to stay at for couples, two of the to ones which are Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa and Baldi Hot Springs Hotel & Spa .

20. San Blas Islands, Panama

This archipelago of 365 islands is pure paradise, and the perfect getaway for those that want something truly unique.

Some of the islands can be walked across in minutes, and you can even swim from one to another! With a little over 300 of them being uninhabited, you have a great chance of being able to get one to yourselves! Talk about tropical romance.

South America is full of adventure, and is one of the places we decided to do our first trips together! That being said,it really is an area for those that are a bit more comfortable with traveling, and better for couples that have been together for a bit. Here are some of the most romantic places to travel in South America.

21. Ollantaytambo, Peru

Want to know one of the coolest and romantic hotels in the world? Imagine yourself in a glass capsule hanging off of a cliffside in Peru.

This is perfectfor couples wanting to experience something really special together, but also who crave a bit of adventure.

22. Jericoacoara, Brazil

Looking for a little slice of paradise in Brazil? Well, Jericoacoara is an adorable town tucked away between sand dunes. It's full of gorgeous lagoons and beautifully lit restaurants.

23. Baños de Agua Santa, Ecuador

Here's another waterfall and hot spring haven for you to enjoy as a couple. Baños is one of the most romantic places in Ecuador, and a personal favorite of ours for those that want both adventure and relaxation.

It's time to head to an even wilder area to the world - Africa! While it can be chaotic and full of culture shock, this continent offers rich experiences for those comfortable with getting a little out of their comfort zone. Here are a few of the most romantic places to travel in the world around Africa.

24. Chefchaouen, Morocco

Also known as the Blue Pearl, Chefchaeouen is definitely the most enchanting town in Morocco. The streets are covered from top to bottom in blue, with beautiful decorations, and the cutest little shops. 

Catch the sunset from a rooftop bar enjoying views of Chefchaouen, head out to the nearby Akchour waterfalls for a bit of adventure.

25. Merzouga, Morocco

Another place we found incredibly romantic in Morocco was the Sahara Desert. 

Head to Merzouga, and you'll find a variety of luxury camps to snuggle up at while surrounded by beautiful sand dunes. Ride camels at sunset, take a dip in one of the pools, and experience one of the most romantic places to travel in the world.

26. La Digue, Seychelles

Looking for some of the most pristine beaches in the world? Well, La Digue, Seychelles is straight out of a post card with it's crystal clear waters, fine sands, and prominent boulders scattered around it.

This is still a destination that isn't crazy crowded, making it the perfect romantic getaway for those wanting to go a bit off the beaten path.

Located off the east coast of Africa, Mauritius is one of those places that has been high on our bucket list for a long time! It has stunning beaches, paradise resorts, swimming with wild dolphins, and its iconic "underwater waterfall" that you can witness by helicopter.

When people imagine romantic places to travel in the world, they typically don't think of the Middle East as being a prime destination. However, we've visited quite a few places that we recommend for couples! Here are a few of our top choices.

28. Wadi Rum, Jordan

Located in the south of Jordan, this desert is full of otherworldly landscapes, and also some of the most romantic glamping sites in the world.

Watch the sunrise on the dunes, sip tea with the locals, ride camels at sunset, and watch the sky fill with stars at night. Wadi Rum is a truly magical place, and one we'll always cherish.

We particularly recommend staying in one of the domes at Memories Aicha Luxury Camp , as this is one of the most beautiful glamping sites we have ever seen!

29. Al Ain, UAE

While most people flock to Dubai or Abu Dhabi, we found the most romantic place in the UAE to be Al Ain. 

Al Ain is full of charming forts, museums, and local desert town vibes. But what truly makes Al Ain romantic is the awesome desert resort we stayed at, Telal Resort , which has an oasis next to it, a spa, and a pool that lit up beautifully at night.

30. Socotra, Yemen

Socotra may just be one of the most magical places on Earth! Imagine Caribbean style beaches to yourselves, refreshing canyons to swim in, and laying under a sky full of stars at night.

We'll be honest though - this is no beginner's trip! But if you're comfortable with your partner, and are looking for a transformative experience together, then Socotra is certainly the island you're looking for.

Asia is an area of the globe that we still have so much to explore! However, we have been to a few good ones to share with you, that should definitely all be on any couple's bucket list.

31. Cappadocia, Turkey

Cappadocia may just be one of the most romantic places to travel in the world, and is a true fairytale! I actually went when I was single, and loved it so much that I vowed it would be the place i get married one day.

The enchanting city is built into the captivating rock formations that make Cappadocia unique. It's full of cave hotels, and beautiful rooftops to witness the daily parade of hot air balloons dancing across the sky.

If you're looking for a romantic getaway that's not too far from Europe, but just exotic enough, then make sure to check out Cappadocia, Turkey.

32. Bali, Indonesia

I've been a bit hesitant to add Bali to this list, as I know it is not a hotspot for digital nomads and expats. It's definitely changed drastically since the last time I went (2017), but nevertheless has some stunning natural landscapes.

Bali has some of the most breathtaking waterfalls in the world, beautiful beaches, and definitely the best villas you could ever imagine. It's budget friendly, tropical, and has anything a couple could ask for a romantic getaway.

When it comes to the most romantic places to travel in the world, this is ertaily at the top of the list.

Home to the most stunning resorts and overwater bungalows, it's no wonder the Maldives have become such a popular honeymoon destination.

Most islands are pretty much dedicated to a single resort, so this is truly for those that want to relax. But if you want a bit more adventure, you can head to some of the local islands, which offer plenty of fun activities.

34. Singapore

Singapore is one of the most impressive cities in all of Asia, and it truly does not fail to dissapoint when it comes to romance.

Not only is a great to walk around, strolling, and enjoying the architecture, but the Gardens by the Bay are one of the most romantic places ever. The artifiicial trees are beautifully lit at night, and look straight out of a fairytale. 

I ended up exploring this area a bit by myself while my ex decided not to join - so I am obviously super excited to save this special place for a trip together with Fede in the future.

The Pacific is truly one of the most stunning areas of the world, scattered with picturesque islands. However, we haven't personally been to a ton of places YET, and don't want to be promoting a ton of places we really don't know about. However, here are two places that have been recommended by a ton of our friends.

35. Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Bora Bora is the most iconic honeymoon spot, so we really couldn't skip it for our list of romantic places to visit in the world! It's got stunning mountains and is surrounded by crystal clear waters and fine white sands. If you have the budget for it, it's also the best place for the overwater bungalows!

If you're looking for more incredible hotels and gorgeous beaches, but more variety, then Fiji needs to be on your couple's bucket list.

Swim with whale sharks, go on a sunset catamaran ride, and go snorkeling in some of the most beautiful waters in the world. We know Fiji surely won't disappoint!

This group of islands in the Aegean Sea includes favorites like Santorini (where Grace Santorini is fresh off a gorgeous renovation) and Mykonos, home to the new swoon-worthy, entirely farm-to-table Nesaea restaurant. There are also important archaeological ruins, stunning sunset vistas, and up-and-coming islands like Paros and Folegrandos, where you can experience the beauty of your surroundings with fewer faces around. Baja California, Mexico

For West Coasters, especially, there’s no simpler honeymoon destination than Baja California , the peninsula representing some of the best of Mexico. There you’ll find all the hallmarks of an authentic Mexican village in San Jose del Cabo, paired with dozens of pristine beaches for above and underwater activities, and divine resorts such as elegantly minimalist favorite Las Ventanas al Paraíso , shiny new Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal or Viceroy Los Cabos , and rooftop-studded The Cape . There are rivers and streams, waterfalls, hot sulfur springs, and a boiling lake, not to mention the Caribbean Sea, in Dominica, making it a water baby’s playground. The region’s longest hiking trail is also an option. Eco-resorts are hitting big after Hurricane Maria devastated the island, and it’s now a haven for jungle-y adventures (like canyoning in Titou Gorge), relaxation (see the mud pools of Wotten Waven Hot Springs), whale watching, and beautiful new hotels including  Jungle Bay ,  Secret Bay , and  Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski .  

The hurricanes that devastated much of the Caribbean left this under-the-radar little paradise known as Spice Island totally untouched. The timing was good, as there are quite a few luxe resorts in the works, with the first major resort opening on Grand Anse Beach for decades last year. The  Silversands Hotel  has the longest pool in the Caribbean, but don’t expect to spend all your days there—the isle is packed with promise in the form of picturesque beaches on which to lounge, colorful culture and cuisine to try, and rainforests to explore. This Caribbean gem is only getting sparklier, with the addition of the unreal Six Senses La Sagesee , coming in May 2024.

There’s something to be said for the simplicity of a beach resort honeymoon, but if you’re a duo who seeks something more, there may be nothing more epic than a Galapagos adventure . The favorite destination of Charles Darwin’s offers outdoorsy types the ultimate opportunity to soak up an exotic dose of nature. There are several options for an island experience off the coast of Ecuador, one being a cruise, ideally on a small ship or mega-yacht like Ecoventura’s brand-new luxury-meets-eco-friendly Theory, which sails around the northern or southern islands for a week at a time, with snorkeling, standup paddleboard and kayaking gear, and naturalists on board. The debate between Sydney and Melbourne is like the one between Los Angeles and  New York —but there are so many other parts of this great island nation, too. In the former stay at the  QT Bondi  to work on your golden tan, or the newish  Old Clare Hotel  for an urban adventure. Parts of Guatemala resemble Antigua with cobblestone streets and colorful buildings, and other areas are thick with rainforests and layered with volcanos. Explore the land's history by visiting ancient Mayan ruins as well as several museums in Guatemala City, which buzzes with nightlife after the sun sets. The terrain is hugely varied and includes rainforest, open savannah, highlands, and desert, with lots of cultures to explore in between. Puerto Rico has come back even better than ever. The spirit of Puerto Ricans shines bright in the island paradise, known as the island of enchantment. Resorts are reopening at a rapid pace, with the birthplace of the piña colada, Caribe Hilton , coming back online on an exclusive, lush peninsula with views of San Juan’s shore. Rajasthan, India

Known as a vibrant destination for Holi, the ancient Hindu festival, Rajasthan is a dynamic place to visit anytime. Experience contrasts the likes of which you’ve never seen by visiting both rural villages and cities such as Jaipur, the capital, known as the Pink City. Go tiger trekking in the desert and tour striking architecture. And live like queens and kings at the pink palace hotel Amanbagh , the one-time Mughal royal retreat. Along with the usual luxury trappings, you can even learn the most exotic of sports, camel polo.

Sacred Valley, Peru

Understandably, a honeymoon in this unique destination is for those who live to enjoy nature in all its glory. Half the challenge of planning a romantic getaway is deciding where to go in the first place. That’s where the results of a new study come in handy.

Bounce , a luggage storage company with more than 8,000 locations in more than 1,000 cities worldwide, analyzed cities around the world to determine the world’s most romantic destination. Various factors were scrutinized, such as the number of romantic hotels, restaurants, and activities in each city.

The results of the study, “ Romantic City Breaks ,” are somewhat predictable; however, there are also some noteworthy surprises.

“From Paris to Barcelona, and San Francisco to Seville, there’s a city-break destination for every hopeless romantic to enjoy,” the report reads. “Whether you want to seek out the best romantic restaurants offering culinary delights or make a trip to explore a city’s historical architecture, this report will – hopefully – make your trip planning a little easier.”

A Look At The Data

When people think of the most romantic cities, Paris often comes to mind first. Indeed, Paris tops Bounce’s list, which is expected given that the city is home to 706 romantic hotels and 1,511 romantic restaurants, the report explains.

San Francisco came in second place, due largely to its range of romantic activities, including walking through Golden Gate Park and riding the city’s famous cable cars. The area is also home to a high number of day spas and wellness centers, including many that offer couples’ massages and twilight spa sessions, the report continues.

The third most romantic city, according to the research, is Amsterdam, which scored well due to its high number of romantic restaurants and hotels. The city also boasts a high number of romantic activities, including, naturally, a cruise through the city’s famous canals.

When Disney World first opened 50 years ago, the resort had just one theme park and two hotels. Today, the massive resort complex is home to more than 20 themed Walt Disney World hotels and four of the world's most popular theme parks. As Travel + Leisure 's on-staff theme park expert and a frequent Disney World visitor, I've stayed at over 10 Disney resorts and visited countless others spanning every budget, style, and location to determine the top picks for every traveler. With that in mind, planning a Disney World vacation might seem overwhelming, but don't worry — we've rounded up 18 of the best hotels near Disney World to help you get started.

First, you'll need to decide if you want to stay at an official Disney World hotel or a nearby property. "Staying at a Disney resort is literally staying in the magic," says Sue Pisaturo, president and founder of Small World Vacations. There are lots of perks to staying on property; as Pisaturo explains, "You'll be treated to unparalleled, legendary Disney service, convenient transportation to the theme parks, extra time in the parks, an array of shopping and dining options including select character meals, themed pools for an easy afternoon break, and fun recreational activities. "

Before you book a room, there are a few things you should know about Disney World hotels. Disney categorizes their on-site hotels and resorts as Deluxe, Deluxe Villas, Moderate, Value, and Campgrounds. All Disney resorts offer benefits including complimentary transportation to the theme parks , early park entry, and, of course, Disney-level theming and service, as Pisaturo mentioned. Deluxe properties tend to be the most expensive, the closest to the theme parks (although this isn't always the case), and the most luxurious. Guests staying at a resort in the Deluxe category can enjoy extended nighttime hours in the theme parks, too. There are also area hotels that are not owned by Disney, like the Four Seasons and Waldorf Astoria, that offer some of the same perks found at Disney hotels.

From safari-inspired luxury hotels to guest-favorite properties celebrating 50 years of magical memories, here are 18 of the best Disney World hotels.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

Start each day by greeting giraffes, zebras, and other animals when you stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge . With an African safari feel, this resort offers an experience unlike anything found elsewhere in the United States. The Deluxe resort is located near Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park, but it feels like it's part of the park thanks to the animal programs and savanna-view rooms. Other on-site amenities include themed pools and unique dining experiences showcasing African flavors. I've stayed at this hotel several times in the past three years alone, and it is consistently great — the magic of waking up to the sight of a giraffe outside your window truly never gets old.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

One of two Disney World hotels dating back to the theme park resort's opening 50 years ago, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is a guest favorite, loved for its Polynesian-inspired design and proximity to Magic Kingdom Park. The Polynesian Village Resort has great dining options: Trader Sam's Grog Grotto (a personal favorite) serves up tiki drinks with a touch of Disney magic, Dole Whips are available at Pineapple Lanai, and guests rave about the breakfast and dinner at 'Ohana. Visiting the theme parks is easy thanks to the Deluxe hotel's monorail stop, and you can even spot the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach. Recent additions include overwater bungalows and "Moana"-themed guest rooms.

Disney's Wilderness Lodge

With decor inspired by the country's majestic national park lodges, Disney's Wilderness Lodge offers rustic luxury with comfortable rooms and lots of character. The Deluxe resort provides boat transportation to Magic Kingdom (and bus transportation to other parks), as well as several eateries with crowd-pleasing American menus. Themed pools and outdoor areas that draw inspiration from U.S. national parks give this Disney World hotel a unique atmosphere you won't find elsewhere.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Nautical and sophisticated, Disney's Yacht Club Resort offers easy access to both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios — both a short walk, boat ride, or Skyliner trip away. This Deluxe resort has one of the best pools at Disney World: Stormalong Bay is a three-acre themed pool area with a lazy river, waterslide, and more. Like its name implies, the resort has an old-school New England yacht club theme that is elegant without feeling stuffy, and it has great views of the charming BoardWalk Inn across the lake. I've stayed here once, and it's at the top of my list for my next Disney World trip thanks to its upscale theming and prime location.

Disney's Contemporary Resort

Disney's Contemporary Resort opened over 50 years ago, and guests still love its iconic A-frame main tower. The modern Deluxe resort has a fantastic location — the monorail runs right through the middle of the hotel, and you can walk to Magic Kingdom Park — and plenty of great amenities, including fun pools and fantastic views. California Grill is a guest-favorite restaurant, and Chef Mickey's offers a character breakfast that's the perfect start to a Disney-filled day. The resort got some updates just in time for Disney World's 50th anniversary , including a new dining venue, Steakhouse 71, and reimagined guest rooms with a theme inspired by "The Incredibles." Over the past 20 years, I've stayed here over five times, most recently in April 2023, so this resort has tons of happy memories for me. I stayed in a club-level room during my recent trip, which provided access to the lounge where guests can enjoy free snacks (we had sushi, charcuterie, and more!) and alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.

Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts

Like a few other properties on this list, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts aren't Disney-owned properties, but their close proximity to the parks and on-site Disney resort benefits make them worth checking out. Plus, Marriott Bonvoy members will be happy to know that they can earn (or use) points here because these are Marriott-managed hotels. Guests can enjoy perks like early entry and extended hours at Disney parks and complimentary transportation (you can even walk to Hollywood Studios or Epcot from these hotels). These hotels offer a range of suites and guest rooms, plus, the new Walt Disney World Swan Reserve offers an even more upscale vibe and fresh design.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Checking into Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa feels like stepping into a seaside Victorian resort (with a sprinkle of Disney flair, of course). "If you're looking for the most elegant, top-of-the-line hotel - Disney's Grand Floridian, a Deluxe resort, is the jewel in the crown," says Pisaturo. This lovely Deluxe resort is just one stop away from Magic Kingdom Park on the monorail, and you can see the nighttime fireworks or the Electrical Water Pageant for a magical end to a day at the theme parks. From the resort, you can walk (or take the monorail) to the Magic Kingdom, hop on the monorail to Epcot, or grab the buses to the other Disney parks. There are several dining options, including a "Beauty and the Beast"-themed lounge, Enchanted Rose, plus pools, a spa, and more. Fine dining restaurant Victoria & Albert's reopened in 2022, and upscale American eatery Narcoossee's just reopened this spring.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort

Tucked away in a picturesque residential setting, yet just a short drive from the Disney World theme parks, the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort offers five-star luxury with upscale accommodations, an outstanding food and beverage program, and incredible amenities. The AAA Five Diamond resort has a beautifully landscaped family pool complex with waterslides and a lazy river, plus an adults-only pool oasis (a rarity at Disney World). From the calming spa to the Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club Orlando to the Michelin-starred rooftop Capa steakhouse and lounge, adults will love the luxe amenities. Plus, the Kids for All Seasons program offers supervised children's activities, so parents can enjoy some much-needed alone time. And there's plenty on property for Disney fans, too, including a character breakfast, rooms with views of the theme parks and nightly fireworks, and perks like early entry to the Disney parks. I personally loved the luxe amenities and relaxed ambiance at this resort when I stayed there in September 2021 — read my review of the Four Seasons Resort Orlando to learn more about this standout property.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Since its refurbishment and the addition of the Gran Destino Tower, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort has become one of the top choices in the Moderate resort category. Located near Disney's Animal Kingdom, this Spanish-, Mexican-, and American Southwest-inspired hotel has one of the best pools on property, with a 50-foot pyramid centerpiece and a 123-foot waterslide (the resort also has the largest hot tub at Walt Disney World, plus three other pools spread across its sprawling grounds). We recommend staying in the Gran Destino Tower for easy access to the restaurants and resort transportation — with nearly 2,000 rooms spread out in many buildings across the resort, some are a bit of a walk from the main tower. I've stayed at Coronado Springs a couple of times, and I think it offers very solid value for the price. I really enjoyed rooftop restaurant Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood and Dahlia Lounge, which offer upscale Spanish flavors with a great view.

Waldorf Astoria Orlando

Located in the Bonnet Creek area near the Disney theme parks and Disney Springs, the Waldorf Astoria Orlando offers a luxe stay with perks like transportation to the parks, early theme park entry, and rooms with theme park views. The Waldorf Astoria Golf Club, award-winning Bull & Bear restaurant, Waldorf Astoria Spa, and beautiful pools are among the amenities that make this a top choice for a hotel near Disney World.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

With hotel areas themed to "Finding Nemo," "The Little Mermaid," "The Lion King," and "Cars," Disney's Art of Animation Resort is ideal for families with young kids (and nostalgic adult guests). This Value resort offers great bang for your buck — guests can take advantage of bus and Skyliner transportation to the theme parks, plus several pools. Family suites themed to the above Disney and Pixar animated movies can sleep up to six guests, so the whole family can spread out and relax after days of riding Space Mountain and waving to Mickey Mouse.

Disney's Riviera Resort

One of Disney's newest hotels, Disney's Riviera Resort transports guests to the European coast with Mediterranean decor and dining influences inspired by Walt Disney's travels. This Deluxe Villa property is located in the Epcot resort area, connected to both Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot via the Skyliner. Topolino's Terrace is a standout dining option, offering a delightful character breakfast featuring Mickey and friends (and French and Italian flavors) in a beautiful rooftop setting.

Disney's Beach Club Resort

Located right next to Yacht Club, Disney's Beach Club Resort is another great Deluxe option. And it's Pisaturo's personal favorite: "It's a beautifully themed resort with an amazing pool with a sand beach, pirate ship slide, and a lazy river. You can walk or take a boat to Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Boardwalk. It offers a variety of dining choices including a character breakfast with Minnie Mouse. There are regular rooms, villas, and club-level access. It just feels like home."

JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa

Located near the Waldorf Astoria in the Bonnet Creek area, the JW Marriott offers tons of family-focused perks, including family loft suites, the Hidden Garden Kids Club, and more. A rooftop terrace features views of Disney's nightly fireworks, and the spa offers relaxing treatments — much needed after a few long days in the parks.

Luna Park Pool is a favorite with a 200-foot-long water slide, plus a whirlpool spa and kiddie pool. The Deluxe hotel also has several restaurants and bars to choose from, including magician-themed AbracadaBar and dueling piano bar, Jellyrolls. The resort offers easy access to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios via boat, Skyliner, and walking paths, plus bus transportation to the other parks.

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

If you're looking for a moderately priced Disney resort that's big on amenities, you may want to check out Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort . The sprawling property has sections themed to Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad, and Aruba, each with its own pool and lakefront beach area. The Moderate resort's main Fuentes del Morro pool is themed after a Spanish fort and has water slides, cannons, and a shipwreck play area. This resort is also on the Skyliner route, so guests have easy access to Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot (and free bus transportation to the other parks).

Disney's Pop Century Resort

As one of the best Value resorts at Disney World, Disney's Pop Century Resort offers kitschy-cute theming, modern rooms, and convenient access to the parks. The resort is located on the Skyliner route, making it easy to get to Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot, and it offers bus transportation, too. Although dining options are limited to a food court and pool bar, there are several pools to splash around in between park visits. I picked Pop Century for a Disney girls trip a couple of years ago, and we enjoyed the clean, recently refreshed rooms, affordable price, and nostalgic vibe.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

Disney's Port Orleans Resort is split into two Louisiana-themed sections: the New Orleans-inspired French Quarter and Bayou-themed Riverside. Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter wins for us with its Mardi Gras vibe, Mickey-shaped beignets, and festive Double Doubloon pool. Transportation options from this Moderate resort include a water taxi to Disney Springs and buses to the theme parks.

One of the loveliest ways to ease yourself fully out of the post-winter blahs and into springtime is to quit being a wallflower and instead surround yourself with living, blooming plants.

From botanical gardens to plant sales and garden tours, it’s time to make like the Scarecrow in “The Wizard of Oz” and while away the hours, conferring with flowers.

TOTALLY BOTANICAL

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay is open for the season, daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Maine Days are May 31 to June 2, when anyone with a Maine driver’s license or state ID gets in for free. Ditto for dads/father figures on Father’s Day (June 16). Advance registration is required. With more than 300 acres of gardens and natural spaces, including a waterfall, there will be plenty to see, smell and bask in the scenery.

Here are more things to do in Boothbay

Viles Arboretum is a botanical garden in Augusta with 6 miles of trails and more than 20 botanical collections. It’s open daily from sunrise to sunset, and admission is free. There are 224 acres with all sorts of flora and fauna to discover. Leashed dogs are welcome, and the visitor center is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Viles Arboretum offers medicinal plant walks, and although the May 18 session is full, you can still register for the June 15 and Sept. 14 events, lead by herbalist, homeopath and flower essence practitioner Debra Bluth. Tickets are $25. Advertisement

The Mount Desert Land & Garden Preserve has four areas to explore on its property in Northeast Harbor: the Asticou Azelea Garden (dawn to dusk daily), the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden (noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday from July 9 to Sept. 8, reservations required), Thuya Garden (dawn to dusk daily, June 15 to Oct. 14) and Little Long Pond Natural Lands (hiking trails and carriage roads open dawn to dusk daily). On June 26, at the Wildflowers of Little Long Pond event, participants can wander around the garden’s fields and forest, spotting wildflowers along the way while practicing how to identify them.

2nd Annual Tree Hugging 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Deering Oaks Park, Portland. portlandmaine.gov The tree hugging is a family-friendly community gathering to celebrate Portland’s many trees. Park ranger Liz Collado will lead a sensory awakening and forest bathing session. Along with tree hugging, there will be a storytime, and you can touch a forestry truck and meet naturalist Noah Querido and Portland city arborist Mark Reiland. Just down the road, you’ll find Fessenden Park, on the corner of Brighton and Deering Avenues. The tulips have arrived, and it’s worth a visit to see them.

McLaughlin Garden Lilac Festival 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 24. McLaughlin Garden and Homestead, 97 Main St., South Paris, $5. mclaughlingardens.org You’ll find more than 125 varieties of lilacs at the McLaughlin Garden Lilac Festival. Explore on your own or take a guided tour led by a horticulturist. There will also be family-friendly activities, and you can shop for native and unusual plants.

4th annual Woodfords Community Garden Tour 1-4 p.m. June 8. Woodfords Corner Community in Back Cove, Deering Highlands, Oakdale and Deering Center, $20 suggested donation. woodfordscorner.org Presented by Friends of Woodfords Corner, this self-guided tour features at least 10 gardens. As you make your way down the list, you’ll find yourself pleasantly surprised by all of the hidden havens bursting with flowers, plants and impressive yardscaping elements.

Peony Society of Maine 23rd annual Garden Tour 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 8 and 15. Both tours start at 1348 Ohio St., Bangor, $5 donation. peonysocietyofmaine.net You’ll visit multiple gardens in Bangor, Winterport, Ripley and St. Albans, and your senses will be filled with countless peonies. A peony plant will be raffled off at the end of each tour. Advertisement

Hidden Gardens of Historic Bath 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22. Sagadahoc Preservation Inc., 880 Washington St., Bath, $40. sagadahocpreservation.org The Hidden Gardens of Historic Bath house and garden tour features several homes in North Bath. Every stop on the tour will be a treat for your senses and may motivate you to make some of your own magic when you get back home.

Garden Conservancy Open Garden Days 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 29. Beckett Castle Rose Garden, Singles Road, Cape Elizabeth, $10. gardenconservancy.org You’ll see plenty of roses as well as ocean views at Beckett Castle, which sits right on the water, with views of five lighthouses. The castle was built in 1871, and its rose garden features more than 70 varieties of heirloom roses. A 50-foot stone tower doubles as the rose arbor entrance to the castle.

PICK A PLANT SALE

Tate House Museum’s Annual Plant and Herb Sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18. Tate House Museum, 1267 Westbrook St., Portland, 207-774-6177.  tatehouse.org The wide selection includes perennials divided from the museum’s 18th century reproduction garden. Visitors can also make their own “seed bombs” and get a sneak peak at a new installation by artist Ashley Page from 10 a.m. to noon.

Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland Spring Plant S ale 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. May 18, Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, 217 Landing Road, Westbrook, 207-854-9771.  arlgp.org   Perennials, house plants and more will be on sale, and plants that don’t have specific pricing are “name your own fee.” Anyone interested in donating plants or pots to the sale should send a message to [email protected] .

Taking Root Plant Sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1, Tom Settlemire Community Garden, Maurice Drive, Brunswick, 207-729-7694.  btlt.org This annual sale is organized by the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust. Proceeds benefit the Common Good Garden, which provides food and gardening education for the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program. Master gardeners will be on hand to help shoppers choose their best options.

Scarborough Land Trust Native Plant Sale and Spring Festival 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1, Broadturn Farm, 388 Broadturn Road, Scarborough, 207-289-1199.  scarboroughlandtrust.org Visitors will find native plants, food vendors, local artisans, guided nature walks and activities for kids.
