The Swell Season a critically acclaimed folk rock male/female duo obtained a fulsome reputation in part because of the memorable 2007 movie ‘Once’ that depicted the development of the group. The film helped the young group capture an Oscar early on for the song “Falling Slowly” off the debut self-titled album. ‘Once’ also has gone on to become a very successful Broadway play.

Fans of the theater show should expect an entirely different performance though, as the two piece group consisting of Glen Hansard on guitar/vocals and Marketa Irglova on the piano are often joined by a bassist and percussionist.

The chatty Hansard is quite emotional as he commands the stage with his acoustic guitar slung over his shoulder, he’ll often chat with the crowd between songs and share anecdotes to keep the mood friendly and welcoming. When Marketa takes center stage “Fantasy Man” concerts swing into a calmer demeanor as her reserved personality is a stark contrast to the boastful Hansard. Yet she still knows how to control the crowd and have them grasping onto every word delivered in her saccharine Czech accent.

Each time I’ve seen the Swell Season live in concert has been a building event. Things start fun and casual, but by the end of the show both Hansard and Irglova are sweating through their proper outfits and have loosened up a bit. The crowd and the band fully become one as setlists are closed with the beautiful “Falling Slowly”.

Ever wonder how an oyster is farmed? Would you like to spend some time on the water and learn everything there is about not only our farm but oyster farming in general? Well look no further, all you need to do is book your tour!

Enjoy yourself on an hour and a half tour of Hampton Harbor that will bring you up river to Swell Oyster Co's oyster nursery site. You'll learn how we started and plenty of fun oyster facts that you can share with all your friends and family. Along the tour you'll be able to enjoy a 100ct bag of Swell Oysters for you and your party and don't worry, our deck hand will shuck them all for you! Would you like to accompany those oysters with a cold one or a bottle of bubbly? Not a problem! The boat tour is BYOB! After your tour please feel free to stop by our retail shack and load up on more oysters or some fresh merch, located dockside to your tour. 

When are tours available.

Tours are offered Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Times are tidal dependent and will show up when booking.

Do I Get To Eat Oysters?

Of Course! Every tour includes 100 oysters that will be shucked on board by our deck hand. Don't forget that the tour is BYOB! Alcohol is to only be consumed aboard the vessel. 

How many people are allowed to go?

Tours are considered private tours and can accompany up to 5 people. 6 people upon request

what should i wear?

Please dress for the weather that day, When in doubt bring an extra layer. Please wear comfy shoes, you will be on docks and boat decks, please no high heels. 

Where Does The Tour Start?

The tour will start at Swell Oyster Shack, 1 Ocean BLVD, Unit K, Hampton NH 03842. You will meet the captain there and then be escorted to the boat. 

Cancelation Policy

Tours are non-refundable. If there is an issue caused by weather, and we are unable to take you out on your selected date, we will discuss alternative options on a case by case basis.

Fishing Tackle

Aboard Swell, we have fishing rods and lures ready for jigging. Obtain your recreational fishing license prior to your trip and take a turn at jigging for halibut or lingcod.

Other Equipment

The ship provides guidebooks, visual aids, and a hydrophone to listen to whale sounds, enhancing appreciation of local flora, fauna, and marine phenomena.

Cabins (Category 3)

Largest cabins.

Cedar and Douglas Fir, feature outside doors with opening portholes, large private 3-piece ensuite heads, natural light, and small boat queen-sized beds. Cedar has walls on three sides of the bed, while Douglas Fir has walls on two sides. Both cabins offer storage options and occupy 120 sq. ft.

Cabins (Category 2)

Mid-sized cabins.

Admiralty, Calvert, Moresby, and Vancouver, are located on the Main Deck. These cabins offer 195 square feet of space and feature either a queen-sized bed or two twin beds. Each cabin has a 3-piece en-suite bathroom and provides convenient access to both the deck and the corridor through separate doors. Windows fill the space with natural light.

Cabins (Category 1)

Smallest cabins.

Red Alder features an outside door with opening portholes and a private ensuite head with a separate washbasin area. The cabin also receives natural light through a skylight and sleeps two on up and down small, extra-long single beds (79.5″ x 30″). Storage options include a tall cupboard with shelves, a small under-sink cupboard, and storage space under the bed. Red Alder occupies 57 sq. ft.

Physical Eligibility

To fully enjoy your experience aboard Swell, there are a few physical requirements to keep in mind. To enter and exit your cabin, you will need to be able to step over a six-inch (upper deck) to ten-inch high (main deck) door sill.

Exploring the coast’s picturesque surroundings often means venturing onto a zodiac. With a helping hand, you’ll need to be able to comfortably step into and out of the zodiac from the ship’s deck or onto a beach with no docks. Disembarking the zodiac involves sitting on the side of the pontoon, swinging your legs over the side, and standing up, with some assistance from your crew.

Ashore, you need to be able to walk along uneven shorelines.

There is a regular staircase from the main deck (where the salon and zodiac loading are, as well as two of the cabins) and the upper deck (where the wheelhouse and upper deck cabins are).

The Maple Leaf is a very comfortable ship that welcomes guests of all ages, though if you have a physical limitation, you may consider Cascadia as our most accessible ship. For more guidance on the mobility requirements of our trips, visit this article.

History Of The Tugboat Swell

Swell’s journey chronicles a century of coastal transportation and adventure.

The Swell is a historic ship with a rich history in British Columbia. Built in 1912 by Arthur Moscrop in Vancouver, she was commissioned by the Victoria Tug Company, owned by George McGregor and Capt. Dan McPherson. Initially powered by an 18 horsepower steam engine, the Swell played a vital role in towing operations, transporting various materials such as coal, wood, metal, machinery, and acid… the list goes on. As an essential mode of transportation in a region with limited road access and numerous islands, she contributed significantly to the coastal region of British Columbia.

In 1954, the Swell underwent a transformation when her power source was changed to a 400-horsepower diesel engine. She continued her service under the ownership of Island Tug and Barge until 1972. During this time, she even made an appearance in an episode of the popular television show “The Beachcombers.” In 2004, the Swell underwent a major refit, costing $3.5 million, and was converted into a passenger vessel. The refit was done with great care by the coastal tradespeople and shipwrights who worked on her. She became a boutique expedition ship, offering cruises throughout the coast of British Columbia and Alaska.

Today, the Swell continues to carry passengers on memorable voyages, blending her historic charm with modern comforts. Her remarkable journey spanning over a century is a testament to her enduring significance in the maritime history of British Columbia.

Ford trims EV battery orders as losses swell to over $100,000 per electric car in Q1

With losses piling up, Ford is cutting back on EV battery orders. According to sources, the move comes as Ford’s EV losses pile up, topping over $100,000 per electric car built in the first quarter.

After announcing plans to delay around $12 billion in EV spending last year, Ford has continued to push back EV initiatives, citing slower-than-expected market demand.

After cutting F-150 Lightning production again earlier this year (for the second time in less than five months), Ford trimmed the workforce at its Rouge EV plant, where the electric truck is built.

Ford revealed the plans in January, claiming EV demand was slowing. According to Ford spokesperson Jessica Enoch (via The Detroit Free Press ), one-third of the 2,100 workers remained at the plant starting April 1, 2024.

Meanwhile, 700 workers have been transferred to its Michigan Assembly plant, while the other 700 were offered a $50,000 retirement package or reassignment to the MI facility.

The move didn’t result in job losses. Instead, workers were offered reassignments or retirement. Now, it looks like Ford is throttling back on more EV plans.

Ford cuts battery orders as losses top 100K per EV

According to people with knowledge of the matter, Ford is cutting battery orders from suppliers with growing EV losses.

The move comes after Ford slashed prices, creating even larger EV losses. In a new Bloomberg report, one source said Ford lost over $100,000 for every EV built in the first quarter—more than double the amount lost a year ago.

Despite cutting orders, Ford is maintaining partnerships with its battery suppliers including SK, LG Energy Solution, and CATL.

CATL said its “cooperation with Ford is moving forward as normal,” while SK and LG said their contracts with Ford remain. Meanwhile, a Ford spokesperson said the company doesn’t typically comment on supplier relationships.

Ford projects Model e losses to reach $5.5 billion this year after a $1.3 billion EBIT loss in Q1. Although Ford expects EV costs to improve, the company expects this will be offset by top-line pressure.

If the report is accurate, this could be the latest setback in Ford’s EV plans. The automaker is already pushing back around $12 billion in EV spending, slashing prices, and delaying new model launches.

Ford is shifting to smaller, more profitable EVs with plans to delay its three-row electric SUV in the US.

Although Ford is improving EV costs, it’s also cutting prices to keep pace with Tesla and others like Hyundai, which have introduced significant price cuts .

A separate Bloomberg report noted that Ford is accelerating the development of smaller electric vehicles, which are expected to debut in 2026. The first models are expected to be a smaller electric truck and SUV with a starting price of around $25,000.

In the meantime, Ford is following Toyota and other legacy automakers with plans to introduce more hybrids as a bridge to its next-gen EVs.

Travis Kelce Attends Girlfriend Taylor Swift’s 4th Eras Tour Show in Paris — and Dances in the Stands!

Travis Kelce took a trip to the city of love to support his superstar girlfriend!

On Sunday, May 12, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, was spotted at the Paris La Défense Arena for the fourth and final night of Taylor Swift ’s sold-out Eras Tour run in Paris, France.

Swift, 34, performed her new song about him — “So High School” — for the first time in front of him on tour. The love song, a track from The Tortured Poets Department album, includes pointed lyrics about their relationship.

“You know how to ball, I know Aristotle,” Swift sings in “So High School,” referring to her NFL boyfriend’s talents and her songwriting prowess.

The song’s lyrics also hint at him making her a friendship bracelet with his jersey number on it and attending one of her concerts last year as he tried to woo her before they started dating: “You knew what you wanted and, boy, you got her.”

Swift noted that this Paris concert was her 87th concert on the Eras Tour, which is notable because Kelce’s jersey number is 87.

Later in the show, Swift performed “The Alchemy,” which also has football puns, including, “So when I touch down, call the amateurs and cut ’em from the team.”

This offseason has been a busy one for the multi-talented athlete, whose new contract extension with the Chiefs makes him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.

On April 29, Kelce inked a deal worth more than $17 million a year to stay with Kansas City for an additional two years,  NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported .

Before his return to the football field, Kelce spent time in Los Angeles to wrap up his latest projects in Hollywood, including hosting Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? , a new game show spinoff of  Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?  that's set to stream on Prime Video.

And on Tuesday, May 7, a source told PEOPLE that the three-time Super Bowl champion was joining the cast of  Ryan Murphy 's new FX series,  Grotesquerie . His new costar, Niecy Nash-Betts, shared videos with Kelce on the set of the new series.

Before he was seen on the set of Grotesquerie, Kelce was seen at several A-list events, including the  Kentucky Derby  and the  Formula One Grand Prix , where he supported the F1 team he invested in alongside Chiefs quarterback  Patrick Mahomes .

In October 2023, the Chiefs stars became lead  investors in the Formula 1 team  Alpine Racing. Through Kelce's management company A&A Management, he and Mahomes, 28, joined golf champion  Rory McIlroy  and Olympic boxing gold medalist Anthony Joshua to secure a $218 million investment in the team.

Kelce's most recent sightings with Swift came just before his trips to Kentucky and Miami.

The record-breaking songstress accompanied Kelce to Mahomes' charity event in Las Vegas, where they shared sweet kisses caught on video and auctioned off tickets to Swift's Eras Tour .

When Kelce appeared onstage during the auction at the gala, he revealed that he and  his “significant other”  had decided to put four tickets up for bidding. “I think, um, I was just talking to my significant other,” he said in a video posted  on TikTok . “And uh, we might have one other auction item that wasn’t on the docket.”

“Has anyone heard of the Eras Tour?,” he asked as guests in the room cheered.

In a video montage  from the April 27 Mahomies Foundation Golf Classic and Gala shared by the Chiefs quarterback on Instagram, Swift and Kelce were seen holding hands as they made their entrance into the gala.

The couple were also spotted hand-in-hand in  footage  shared on X as they walked to their table at the event.

Michael Cohen confirms he at some point learned a Rule 35 motion to ask a federal judge to reduce a prison sentence must be made within one year of the sentence.

Trump attorney Todd Blanche asks Cohen if he remembers his attorney asked if the district attorney's office would support his Rule 35 motion if he cooperated.

"I believe so, yes," Cohen says in response.

Blanche asks if the basis for the motion was because of his cooperation.

"As well as the earlier cooperation, yes," Cohen says,

Cohen confirms first time he met DA office officials was 3 months into his prison sentence

Todd Blanche resumes his cross-examination, circling back with Michael Cohen to confirm that the first time he met with the Manhattan district attorney's office was about three months into his sentence at Otisville in late August 2019.

Blanche asks Cohen whether he asked the prosecutors what was the benefit for him to meet with them and that he told them he had been "screwed over by the system."

"I don't know if that's the language that I used, but sounds correct," Cohen says.

The defense started its cross-examination of Michael Cohen and things heated up when it came to Cohen’s TikToks and other things he’s said publicly about the trial.

Here are the highlights:

Does he want to see Trump convicted? Cohen refused to answer “yes” or “no” to defense attorney Todd Blanche’s questions on this topic.

“Sure” was his response.

Obsession or admiration: Cohen said he was not obsessed with Trump, adding, “I admired him tremendously." The defense read comments Cohen made in 2015 about Trump trying to make the country great again, asking if they were true.

"At that time, I was knee-deep into the cult of Donald Trump, yes," Cohen said, adding, "I was not lying, it's how I felt."

He missed Trump in 2017: In a Vanity Fair profile in September 2017, Cohen said he would take a bullet for the president and that he considered the Trumps his surrogate family.

Court is taking a quick break

Cohen is asked about being able to delay his surrender to prison in 2019

Trump attorney Todd Blanche asked about Michael Cohen about being able to delay surrendering to prison from March until May 2019.

"I had just had surgery, yes," Cohen said.

Blanche asked whether it was also because of his testimony.

"No," Cohen said, adding that he did testify but that wasn't why he got a 60-day delay.

"You were very much looking for a way to get your sentenced reduced," Blanche asked.

"Yes sir," Cohen said.

Cohen said he talked to Anthony Scaramucci, the former White House Director of Communications, about getting his sentence reduced when Scramucci went to visit him in prison.

Cohen acknowledges that he changed his views about Trump

Trump attorney Todd Blanche asks Michael Cohen about the two guilty pleas and his congressional testimony. 

Blanche asks: "You had changed your views about President Trump?"

Correct, Cohen says.

"Once you testified in February of 2019 you changed all that and you now said President Trump was a con man and you were ashamed?" Blanche asks.

"I said that, yes," Cohen said.

For context: Cohen told Congress in February 2019 that Trump had potentially committed a variety of financial crimes from bank to tax fraud to secure loans and even to move up in Forbes magazine’s rankings of the very rich.

All eyes were on Taylor Swift on May 9 as she kicked off the European leg of her Eras Tour with the first of four concerts in Paris, marking her first show back after the release of the Billboard 200 -topping, record-breaking The Tortured Poets Department .

Not only did the pop star debut seven fresh numbers from the new album (see a full setlist ), but she also made multiple changes to her original Eras set. A few fan-favorite songs were cut (sorry, “The Archer,” “Long Live” and “Tolerate It”), while parts of the show were restructured in order to make room for the new material. The sacrifices proved to be worth it, however, when Swift stunned the audience at La Defense Arena with brand new costumes, choreography, visuals and special effects, including an alien abduction and a clever trick that made the star appear to levitate across the stage.

The trek’s nightly high points, however, remained in place. Fans still got to scream along to the full 10-minute version of “All Too Well” during the Red era, hold their phone flashlights up for “Marjorie” in the Evermore set and scream the traditional “1, 2, 3, let’s go b—h” chant during Reputation ’s “Delicate.” The surprise song section also remained fully intact as Swift gave Midnights ’ “Paris” and TTPD ’s “LOML” their live debuts. 

“This has been an unforgettable night in Paris!” Swift gushed to the crowd before closing out as usual with “Karma.” “Thank you so much!”

Steve Buscemi was captured on video casually walking on the street moments before he was randomly sucker punched by a hulking assailant in NYC.

On Monday, CBS News published footage of the actor strolling down Third Avenue in Manhattan last Wednesday as he was fidgeting with his cell phone.

Suddenly, Buscemi peered up at a passerby and seemingly said something to the woman. Then he proceeded across the street, where -- off-camera -- he was punched in the head by his attacker for no apparent reason.

Buscemi was rushed to Bellevue Hospital to be treated for bruising and swelling to his face, as well as bleeding in his left eye. While photos of his nasty injuries have surfaced in the media, Steve's rep told us that he's doing just fine.

The NYPD has yet to make an arrest in the case, but the department has disseminated images of the unidentified suspect to encourage anyone who recognizes him to call Crimestoppers.

Such random attacks have recently plagued NYC -- and some celebs have been on the receiving end of the unprovoked beatdowns. Buscemi's "Boardwalk Empire" costar Michael Stuhlbarg and actor Rick Moranis were both similarly attacked in separate incidents.
