Eat, sleep, meet in London-everything you need to know

After many long months, South Africa is officially off the UK’s red list as of 11 October 2021. Fully-vaccinated South Africans are now cleared to enter the country for both business and leisure purposes without having to worry about quarantine.

The news led to a frenzy of bookings from South African travellers keen to travel back to the UK to visit friends and family. And fortunately, business travel also picked up.

Oz Desai, GM Corporate Traveller, explains Heathrow remains one of the top international airports for corporate traffic originating from South Africa with many South African businesses having headquarters in the UK or being listed on the London Stock Exchange. He says “the fact that the borders between the two countries reopened and that quarantines were scrapped, came as a very welcome announcement”.

There are still some restrictions in place and after such a lengthy hiatus, it’s safe to say that many prospective travellers are feeling slightly uneasy about what to expect.

Here, Desai kindly sums up the most important ‘need-to-know information’ for South African corporates jetting off to London:

What are the rules and regulations for arrival in the UK?

If you’re fully vaccinated*, you’re allowed to enter the UK without any need for quarantine following your arrival. That is, as long as you don’t have a history of travel within any of the remaining red-listed countries (Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru, or Venezuela) in the past 10 days leading up to your arrival.

While quarantine is not required and there’s no need to provide proof of a negative COVID test conducted prior to your departure, vaccinated travellers from South Africa must book a travel test package prior to travel to be tested on or before day 2 after arrival. Fully vaccinated travellers are also able to book a COVID-19 antigen lateral flow device (LFD) test instead of a COVID-19 PCR for their ‘on arrival’ test.

Along with this, South African travellers – business and leisure alike:

  • will still require their visitor visa and their proof of vaccination .
  • must also fill in a public health passenger locator form online before boarding their flight, and no more than 48 hours before arriving in the UK. Remember to carry either a printed copy of the form or to download an online copy to present to authorities at the UK border.

Travellers can visit the CorporateTraveller for the latest information.

* Note that travellers are only deemed ‘fully vaccinated’ when they can provide proof of vaccination by an approved vaccine (which includes both Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer), administered by an approved authority. If you were vaccinated with a 2-dose vaccine, you must have completed the full course at least 14 days before you arrive in England.

What to keep in mind when booking your hotel?

Most experts agree that accommodation establishments in the UK are COVID-ready, with most adhering to strict COVID protocols and regulations as outlined by the World Health Organisation (WHO). For example, promoting social distancing, providing easy access to hand sanitiser throughout the premises, reducing person-to-person contact and touchpoints, optimising and enhancing cleaning procedures, etc. Most hotels have also adopted hybrid working models for travelling employees.

Prices could go up slightly, according to the latest PWC hotel forecast. The Average Daily Rate (ADR) will recover to £112.26 (R2279) in 2022, an increase of £27.78 (R564) since 2021.

“Your travel management company will have the latest information on COVID regulations and will have vetted all the hotels prior to your stay,” says Desai.

Is public transport operational? Is it safe?

All public transport in the UK is operational, with the London Underground reaching up to 60% of its pre-COVID capacity on weekends, and up to 50% of its pre-COVID capacity on weekdays. Buses have also seen an increase in their capacity in recent weeks, reaching up to 60% of pre-COVID capacity during the week and up to 75% on weekends.

Strict COVID safety protocols are in place for all public transport, including regular cleanings and wiping down high-touch surfaces, and there are also various precautions that you can take if you choose to make use of public transport during your visit.

Are business-related gatherings, like meetings and conferences, allowed?

As of 19 July 2021, the government has allowed a gradual return to the office for most employees, which includes resuming face-to-face meetings. However, policies differ from business to business, with many enterprises continuing to allow the majority of their staff to work remotely.

According to Desai, “Hybrid meetings are still a big trend in the UK, and corporate travellers can expect to have a combination of face-to-face and virtual meetings. When face-to-face meetings take place, companies are required by law to maximise ventilation, provide hand sanitiser at the venue’s entrance and upon attendees’ exit, thoroughly disinfect high-touch surfaces, and properly communicate all COVID-related protocols that have been put into place.”

What’s the deal with restaurants?

It’s pretty much business as usual for most restaurants in the UK at the moment. Since 19 July 2021, there are no longer any capacity limitations to adhere to and, while left to the discretion of each restaurant, the wearing of a face mask is no longer a legal requirement either (although masks are recommended, especially when sitting down to eat inside a restaurant, as opposed to in the outdoor seating area).

What leisure activities are back in full swing?

Since entering step four of the UK government’s roadmap, most leisure activities are back on the cards.

“If you have some free time in between your business meetings, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from to keep yourself busy and entertained . Nightclubs have re-opened, markets are drawing in visitors from far and wide, theatres are operating again, and museums and galleries are waiting to welcome visitors too,” comments Desai.

Here’s to a UK business trip that’s as enjoyable and stress-free as it is productive. Safe, happy travels!

How to travel around South Africa?

DOMESTIC FLIGHTS South Africa has a well-developed network of domestic airports, making it easy to hop between major cities and tourist destinations. Airlines like Airlink, South African Airways, CEMAir, FlySafair and Lift are the main carriers.

DRIVING As in the UK, South Africans drive on the left-hand side of the road. Hiring a vehicle is one of the most affordable options for getting around and also one of the best ways to experience the nation’s breathtaking scenery.  A couple of simple rules to follow:

  • Know where you are going - Google Maps isn't reliable in certain areas of the country
  • Don't drive at night - lack of adequate lighting can be challenging

TAXIS Metered taxis are widely available throughout the country, especially in urban areas. Popular taxi apps — such as Uber — are a great and safe way to get around cities.

TRAINS The luxurious Blue Train and Rovos Rail offer upscale, scenic train journeys.

SHUTTLES Many tourist destinations offer shuttle services to and from airports and key attractions. These shuttles are convenient and hassle-free.

ESCORTED TOURS Joining an escorted tour, whether by bus, safari vehicle, or boat, is a popular way to explore South Africa's wildlife reserves, national parks, and cultural attractions while benefiting from local knowledge and expertise.

ON FOOT Walking around cities and towns in South Africa can be a great way to explore the local culture, history, and scenery. Many cities and towns offer pedestrian-friendly areas and have a range of experiences you can enjoy such as local markets, culinary adventures, botanical gardens and art galleries.

As with any city, remember to take normal safety precautions, especially in urban areas, and be aware of your surroundings.

Explore London

Where to stay, things to do, where to eat, where to stay in london.

Where to stay in London? In such a big city, with each neighbourhood offering something unique, you need to consider what you want to see and do when choosing a location to rest the night. Whether history and sightseeing, stage shows or fine food are on your priority list, there’s a London neighbourhood to match.

Read travel guide

London City and the Tower of London

Also known as the ‘Square Mile’, The City is London’s historical heart, where the very first stirrings of settlement took place. Now the financial district, it poses a fascinating mix of old and new. Buildings such as the Bank of England, the Royal Exchange and Mansion house showcase architectural splendour, as does the length of Fleet Street, while modernity prevails in the ever-increasing number of shiny skyscrapers. The main drawcards for tourists include the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, the Museum of London and the iconic St. Paul’s Cathedral – just one of many centuries-old churches in the area. But you can also discover graceful old pubs, interesting converted warehouses, and plenty of shopping potential in the boutiques and markets of Spitalfields and Brick Lane.

Home to a number of the city’s big ticket sights, including Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, Soho, Covent Garden, Oxford and Regent Streets, West End is definitely one of the best areas to stay in London for its location. Technically part of the City of Westminster, West End is a place that never sleeps, day and night a hive of activity. From the bustling squares and world-acclaimed stage shows to the many bars hidden down winding walkways, West End offers offers a kaleidoscope of entertainment, shopping, galleries, dining, nightlife and iconic city sights set amongst architectural grandeur.

Kensington & Chelsea

One of the wealthiest regions in London, Kensington and Chelsea are more than just boroughs of London; they’re classed with ‘Royal’ borough status. Where streets are lined with beautiful Georgian mansions and apartment buildings, many of which offer boutique accommodation, this is one of the best areas to stay in London, because you’ll find the Victoria & Albert, Science and Natural History Museums in the area, as well as Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. This part of London is also home to chic designer shopping areas including Kings Road in Chelsea, Kensington High Street, and Harrods.

Notting Hill

Technically a part of Kensington, Notting Hill is one of the most famous areas in London, and a tourist hot spot. Famous for its Portobello Road Market, Notting Hill is a quaint suburb filled with perfectly kept townhouses and gated gardens. Of all of the places to stay in London, Notting Hill is one of the most traditionally London neighbourhoods, to the north of Hyde Park and a stone’s throw from Kensington Palace. You’ll find classic British pubs, great restaurants, and of course the aforementioned market, which is open daily, with the most stalls open on Saturdays.

Westminster and St James

Outside of the fabulous West End district, Westminster is chock full of things to see and do for travellers. It’s home to many of the iconic sights that every traveller wishes to tick off their list. Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Cathedral, the Palace of Westminster and Buckingham Palace are all here. Other key favourites include the London Zoo, Serpentine Galleries, Haymarket Theatre, Royal Opera House and Admiralty Arch. For a break from all that city rumble, head to the green oasis of St. James’s Park or sprawling Hyde Park, perched not far from each other.

South Bank and Southwark

The city’s cultural heart, there’s certainly no shortage of things to do and see – and hear – around Southwark. The historical home of arts and entertainment, much of the action revolves around South Bank, which sits nestled on the river banks. It’s brimming with museums, galleries and theatres showcasing everything from music and dance to film and festivals. Explore Tate Modern and Florence Nightingale Museum, or catch a performance at Royal Festival Hall, The Old Vic, the National Theatre or the Globe, a circular playhouse built to replicate the Shakespearian-era original. You could also wander the foodie finds of Borough Market, take the kids to SEA LIFE London Aquarium or explore the historical sights of Tower Bridge and London Dungeon. When it’s time to relax, stroll the beautiful green parks and atmospheric plazas lining the river as the city skyline soars across the river.

London travel highlights

Book a ticket to London to experience an abundance of palaces, museums, art galleries, and public parks – all from atop an open-top bus tour.

London is the largest city in Western Europe and most tourists use the London Underground (the Tube) to get around. Many of the main attractions are located within Central London, and it is quite possible to walk between them or hire one of the increasingly ubiquitous “Boris bikes”. However, there are also the iconic London red buses and black cabs to help you get around this sprawling city. There are a lot of must-see attractions to visit when you travel to London, ranging from major landmarks like the Royal Palaces and London Bridge, to world-famous museums like the British Museum and the Natural History Museum. Head to Westminster to discover the UK’s political centre, including Downing Street. Make sure you climb Primrose Hill for a great (and complimentary) view of the London skyline, incorporating the Shard, the Gherkin and everything in between.

The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, is not just a tourist attraction in its own right, but also a hub for leisure and sporting activities. You can swim in the Olympic Pool at the Aquatics Centre, wander through acres of parkland, and cycle in the Lee Valley VeloPark. Keep an eye out for upcoming events as the park builds up to full steam. London has eight Royal Parks, including Hyde Park, Richmond Park and Regent’s Park. Each has plenty to offer besides many hectares of park land, such as boating on the Serpentine in Hyde Park. If you’re in the mood for some regal pageantry, aim to be at Buckingham Palace at around 11.30am for the 45-minute Changing of the Guard ceremony. Another essential experience during your trip to London is seeing a show in the West End. If you prefer something a little more rocky or poppy, there are numerous live music venues throughout the city, including the O2 Arena and Brixton Academy.

London can be a food lover’s paradise, whatever your budget. At the top end of the scale, there are world-famous restaurants run by celebrity chefs. There’s an enormous amount of scope further down the food chain though, with all manner of international cuisine on offer in Central London and further afield. If you want a traditional taste of cockney London, head to a pie and mash shop in the East End, or visit an independent gastro-pub outside of the tourist areas.

Harrods and Selfridges are the big names for luxury department store shopping, and are worth a visit when you travel to London. Oxford Street is one of the main shopping scenes and host to all the big brand names of the British high street. For designer clothing and accessories, take a walk down Bond Street and Covent Garden. If you’re travelling to London with children, visit Regent Street for one of the world’s largest toy stores. London also has many markets you can lose yourself in, from the alternative stylings of Camden Market, to the fashion-conscious Old Spitalfields Market.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to South Africa

  • Morning departure is around 15% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is a great departure airport if you are travelling with kids. There are plenty of facilities for your children, such as ‘Mr Adventure Stay and Play’ areas, offering slides and soft play zones to keep the kids occupied before take-off. There is a play area in each terminal, so it doesn’t matter which one you fly from.
  • Out of all the London airports, Heathrow tends to offer the widest choice of direct flights to South Africa, so it’s a good option if you don’t want a stopover along the way. You can get to Heathrow easily from central London, with the Heathrow Express taking around 15min from Paddington Station and the Piccadilly Line from Covent Garden requiring approximately 45min.
  • Direct flights from London are only available to either Johannesburg Airport (JNB) or Cape Town Airport (CPT). If you want to experience the South African coastline, Cape Town is a better option for you. Otherwise, flights to the country’s largest city Johannesburg will give you a greater choice of connecting flights to other locations in South Africa.
  • As a British citizen, you do not need a visa to enter South Africa as, on arrival, you will be granted a short-term stay of up to 90 days. However, you will need to make sure that you have at least six months remaining on your passport from your planned date of departure.
  • You can save yourself time on duty-free shopping at Heathrow by using the airport’s Reserve and Collect online service. With it, you can order your duty-free items before you get to the airport and simply collect them on arrival at the airport.

Top 5 airlines serving from London to South Africa

We left one hour late because of technical difficulties. The economy comfort seats are great for the price. The crew was mediocre, they do not provide a pleasant experience, they just deliver food and drinks and give orders, not very amicable, no service and hospitality focus.

Seats are fair enough for medium tall people. Good food all the trip. Fight attendances are warm

One of the vstewardeses wanted to bump me of the plane for absolutely nothing. There is CCTV in the plane ans everything can be verified. Very disappointing , you all will see, o other 5 years and the passangers who does not smile to flight attendent will be bumped off...

The worst airline. Cancelled flight 30 min before boarding and rebooked on flight after 3 days.

I travel frequently. The flight was late again... KLM should really try and be on time

The flight itself it was great nice food the crew were very nice and helpful, Checking in from Birmingham wasn't great long queues for bag dropped, And I had my hand luggage case taken away from me even though I requested to have it with me as I had breakables items. I was told I can not because of the length of the flight with no explanation at all no options was given for me to take my fragile items out of my case it was taken away with hold buggage I find the staff member who was checking me in very unpleasant !! Can we please be advise if the rules have changed about the the carry on hand luggage it will be easier to be advise on booking your tickect if we not allowed to take the hand luggage with me. Overall I had a good flight .

The plane was clean and the staff was friendly. Food and drinks as expected on international flights. The entertainment system was old style, with a pullout controller, and selections not as extensive as on other flights.

I requested wheel chair assistance , it was confirmed via email that inwoood get it but I didn’t get it . The last leg of my trip to Nigeria was the worst.

Amazing KLM service and brilliant economy comfort seats. Well worth the extra.

The seats are too cramped in that plane. If you’re above 1,80m consider alternatives or first class I guess… There were no emergency exits to seat somewhere with more legroom

Kudos to Swiss!! My wife and I thought Swiss was like flying years back: good food service, refreshments, friendly and courteous crew! We look forward to another trip to Europe next year, and it will be a priority to hopefully fly Swiss, thank you! We strongly can say from experience - the treatment (food, drink, entertainment) in service for Economy Class is unmatched!!!

I was pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. Thank you

Wheelchair was the excellent service. I didn’t have any food or used entertainment. Overall for my trip experience was excellent. Thank you very much and keep up good work. Best regards

The two meals were plentiful and excellent. The drinks were continuous. Thanks, Crew very polite; however a bit "hazard" at the end as they were rushing us off; to prepare for the cleaning team and next flight. Baggage from Berlin was delayed; however through the apps etc; they kept me aware and informed.(.did receive my baggage about 36 hours after my flight arrival). Good experience; thank you.

The flight was canceled so it’s stupid to send me this now !!!!!

Quick flight. But cabin crew were very noisy and talking too much, especially when we were seated at the back of the plane trying to sleep through the night .

My ticket was for Premium Economy and all the seats were taken, I was placed in Economy class and I’m looking for a refund.

Unfortunately delayed 2 hrs due to faulty tyre.. which had to be changed, but better safe than sorry.

The delay was an issue. Other than that. Every thing good

Hi vergin Atlantic service was good but the flight ticket agent travel up charge me extra 57 pounds as a airport charges, actually I refuse to pay but they say if I not pay £57 then they say you will not be able to travel from Heathrow to goa ,so for me there was no option and it was just 3 day before my departure so i paid, so please look in to the matter. And I have a receipt of £ 57 as well .thanks

We were in the last group to be called to the flight - which was 30 minutes late taking off. While we were lucky enough to have been given bulkhead seats (due to a medical condition I’d told them about beforehand) the seats weren’t particularly comfortable. A crying baby for the whole trip made things worse, so the crew managed very well with coping. The final thing I’d say was that there wasn’t enough food served during the flight.

Very good. Glad we had Premium for the flight out.

We flew Upper Class from London to The Turks and Caicos. Check in was amazing. Our ldriver too us directly to a special entrance to terminal 3. It took 10 minutes to check in and clear customs. Amazing! The VA lounge is large and comfortable. Boarding the flight was easy and without a wait. The crew was excellent. But the seats were awful, strange and uncomfortable. Having a comfortable flat bed seat is the reason we pays 1000s extra. The VA 787 uses a reverse herringbone configuration. Look it up. You have your back to the window and are facing the aisle with no privacy. Turning the seat into a bed requires assistance from the crew so not very spontaneous. . The food was ok. A bit tasteless and meager portions. Had to pay for WiFi. I believe VA has other configuration on their dream airbus flights. Lots of stuff about all this on YouTube where you can see what I have been describing. I can not recommend taking VA on a long flight with these seats.

From the start everything was perfectly fine. First meal was fantastic. Breakfast needs a lot of work and food was overcooked and not very nice for breakfast. Staff were fantastic friendly nice they came round and check we need anything else to eat or drink

From the start everything was perfectly fine. First meal was fantastic. Breakfast needs a lot of work and food was overcooked and not very nice for breakfast. Staff for a fantastic friendly nice we came round and check we need anything else to eat or drink

The gate was changed at the very last moment and no one informed us. The flight was one hour late and the screen broken, the remote control not working. One toilet was out of order . the other toilets were also not totally functioning, because the washbasin was plugged and the water couldn't flow away.

The food could be better, the beef was quite tough. The crew were friendly and helpful on this flight, which has not being my experience on other Ethiopian flights.

The crew were extremely unfriendly. The plane was dirty and the entertainment system did not work, so they did not even give out earphones to anyone.

The flight was one hour late. The food is mediocre and the screen was broken

It is just ok, the sits are very uncomfortable, the temperature too low and there weren’t blankets. The food is mediocre and there are no screens to watch movies.

Flight was smooth but unnecessary long because we had to refuel at FCO Rome. Air hostesses service and response to call light could be better. Both planes were old with broken seat arms and toilets. Why Africans had to be given the farthest Gates is what baffles me and why we have to pay for Aisle seats I found really strange. Is there ever an end to ripping people off even after paying over $2300 for one seat.

Luggage delayed for one day. I called customer service, and they had no info and no empathy. Boarding was very disorganized and chaotic. We went nearly 7 hours with no food or snacks on the flight. This is not an airline that has respect for its passengers.

it was a nice tripe but they need to work on the serving of soda, they should be abled to serve cain soda not on cup.At least each passenger should be entitled to one cain of soda not serving on cup.thanks.

The entertainment (movies) blockbuster and classics never change. I am a frequent Ethiopian flyer and this should be addressed. Not much changed from my summer flight and my December flight. It is annoying - surely you can update the selections more often. Same with food options. It becomes extremely boring to be offered the same exact meals from Washington to Addis to Maputo every trip, each time. AS

Food was horrible. Our flight was not comfortable due to turbulence, seats was not comfortable, Very tight barely can not move anywhere.

We paid to have overhead carry-on baggage. When we got to the gate we were told that our carry on bags would need to be checked and go below because the flight was full. Notably we were nowhere near the last people to board and about 30 other passengers also had to check their carry-on bags. Other than that the flight was fine.

Very bad plain although I paid A business class ticket I was stuck in a stiff fixed seat without any entertainment or Wi Fi for 5 hours I will never ever book a flight on British airline.

Self check in Kiosk did not recognize that I had prepaid for my luggage. This caused a 40 minute delay even though I had my British Airways email receipt for the prepaid luggage.

Crew were very friendly and helpful. They explained to us in detail the delay in our takeoff due to the storm that rolled in from Belfast and did their best to make up the time. Always great to fly BA!

Staff were very helpful. The free WiFi for messages was also very useful to keep in touch

Crew was more interested on looking at their phones than welcoming passengers during boarding.

The crew was very attentive and kept busy serving a variety of treats!

Terrible. Missed my flight to final destination because of delayed British Airways flight. Had to spend 12 hours in airport and $1500 for new plane tickets

The crew on board were all very pleasant and happy to help. The flight had the old business class seats. The departure board in the business lounge did not update and kept on saying ' gate open' but never said boarding. When I got nervous about the departure time and walked to the gate I was told off rudely for being late.

Offered vegetable curry when it was actually tofu which I don’t care for.

Top tips for finding a cheap flight from London to South Africa

  • Morning departure is around 14% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.

Quick flight. But cabin crew were very noisy and talking too much, especially when we were seated at the back of the plane trying to sleep through the night .

Unfortunately delayed 2 hrs due to faulty tyre.. which had to be changed, but better safe than sorry.

Food was horrible. Our flight was not comfortable due to turbulence, seats was not comfortable, Very tight barely can not move anywhere.

Paid an extra USD 100 for so-called Comfort seats. All of these (the bulkhead seats) had parents with babies and infants who were screaming much of the time. One mother even decided to change nappies on the seat. This was anything but comfort!

Apart from delay of 3 hrs in Nairobi for onward flight to Dar all fine. Looked like operational issues caused it.

I booked a round trip flight and boarded a Kenya Airways trip from New York (JFK) to Nairobi (JKIA). First flight from New York to Nairobi was uneventful with no issues. However, the return flight was beyond disappointing. To begin with I had paid an extra $60 each for premium seats (me and my wife) in economy aisle 15 (B & A). However, upon settling down in the middle seat, I noticed that the controller had been ripped off meaning I would not have access to some of the seat functionalities like the individual lighting etc. I proceeded to alert a flight attendant that the controller was missing and she politely responded to me by telling me if I need anything, to use my wife’s seat controller (on the window seat) to call for assistance and I would be assisted accordingly. I was surprised by the response that she gave as it felt like my comfort and request for a service that I paid for was undermined, but nonetheless I opted to play it nice and kept my calm. After this I engaged in a conversation with a passenger (Caucasian / White male) who sat next to me on the aisle seat. In the process of having this conversation I asked him if he had paid for his seat. He went ahead to politely tell me that he had been moved from a seat in the back by one of the flight attendants and had not paid any extra fees. During this conversation, he noticed that the charging docks were not working and he needed to charge his iPad to watch his Netflix show (it was on pause). Alarmed by this, he went ahead and flagged one of the flight attendants who without wasting any time acted astonished and as fast as lightning was able to find him a better seat a few rows in front. Please note, all the charging plugs were not working for the three seats. In summary, below are the reasons for the low rating: 1. Charging for a broken seat: Kenya Airways should not charge for a defective seat. If a seat is defective and is paid for, the airlines should work out a way to either refund the customer or move the customer to a better seat – regardless of skin color. 2. Below Par Customer Service: Do not debilitate a customer’s request especially when a paid for service is not delivered – regardless of skin color. Assuming that I am comfortable with having to either keep alerting the flight attendant or relying on my wife’s seat to perform some of the functionality I may need is ridiculous. 3. Biasness / Inequality / Prejudiced Behavior: The Caucasian/ White male was treated with more favor. Not only was he moved around to make sure he was comfortable (free of charge) but all his complaints were resolved immediately without any hesitance. On the contrary, I being a black man of African descent who had paid an additional premium for his seat, I was completely ignored and told to settle for what I got.

Excellent. They canceled our flight & put us up for the night. Then upgraded us. We are impressed

On a long flight us customers need more rehydration by the crew. Some of us have water bottles but no crew is coming around to offer water. I’m not saying issue us all with plastic water bottles.

The flight staff were not very kind. I went back to get a drink, 4 of them back there chatting. They all looked at me continued to talk then they started doing stuff and one finally asked after I was standing there awhile what I needed. This happened multiple times. The movies were not the great and seemed dated. My seat squeaked every time I moved and it moved around a bit.

The flight attendants on this flight were incredible! One even gave me her own dinner when my special meal order wasn’t transferred due to a flight delay! She insisted and I was so grateful. That is going above and beyond! The issue I had with the flight was with Lufthansa support. I missed my connection due to a flight delay and they wouldn’t rebook online, only in person. This took a lot of time and visits to the airport waiting for a Lufthansa agent to arrive 5 hours later than posted and almost paying full-fare price for the new flights and refusal to add my special meal orders. It made for a challenging journey home and I didn’t feel valued as a customer.

If my flight from Heathrow to Nairobi had not been cancelled I would’ve been in kisumu to fly back! And I have still not had my refund! So you have my cash and I’ve got nothing in return. Wonderful!

The flight never took off. We sat on the tarmac for over two hours due to an electrical fault and finally the flight was cancelled. We were told that hotels would be organised but there was no further communication. In the end I retrieved my baggage and went to the car park to pick up my car and drive home. It cost me over £150 to park the car for two weeks, plus of course petrol, and over £600 for the four flights and £50 for the travel visa. All gone up in my smoke. I’m bitterly disappointed that my business Trip was cancelled and have been told I will get a “partial refund” within three months!!! What a way to treat a customer.

Few movies to choose from. They did not board by zone

The flight was good the crew excellent…but take off delayed three hours!!!

The boarding process was a disaster. No one respects the boarding groups—tired old aeroplane. There are no sockets to charge phones. The cushion seats are ancient and hurts back and gluts
