Our Mission
All the workshop providers and venues featured on this website are there because they specifically offer their services to schools. We have provided them with a page or pages FREE OF Charge where they can set out the details of the workshops they deliver and other relevant information. There is also a form that buyers can use to enquire or book. This service is also, of course, FREE TO USE by all buyers.
All enquiries from buyers are automatically forwarded to sellers directly by the software.
In order to generate the income that Educational Workshops will need to maintain and grow this site we will be offering a range of additional, but optional benefits to suppliers (including providers of products and other services listed in Edsuma .) The first of these will be the ability to advertise on this site-specific discounts and sales. This service will help buyers to keep costs to a minimum. It will be launched in the autumn term.
We have decided not to charge suppliers for their listings because we are determined to provide schools and other organisations in the education sector with the widest possible choice. So we will be working hard to provide the widest possible geographical coverage for all listings. However, we are pleased to say, that with more than 500 workshop and venue listings, we have already made an impressive start.
If you remain concerned about admitting visitors to the school to deliver different kinds of Workshops for Schools, please be aware that we also have listings on this site for online workshops . Many workshop facilitators have had no income since March 2020. So without schools’ support, they will not survive. Therefore please provide that support as soon as you are able.
Edsuma is a new way for buyers in the education sector to quickly find the suppliers of products who are most likely to sell you what you need. It features more than 800 suppliers selling 96 different categories of products and services from 3D Printers and scanners to Wnter Products and Services. To start using it click on Edsuma in the menu above.

Testimonials
“We arranged for each KS2 class to access PrimeVR and I cannot recommend it enough. The reactions of each and every child alone spoke volumes with how amazed they were by the experience – they could not stop talking about it afterwards! The cost was great value for money too and this will be something that we will look into for following years.”
“I would recommend PrimeVR to every primary school simply because the children take so much away from it. We had our first session this week and are already looking at the option of having them in at key points through the year. It was a great moment each time the children put the VR set up to their eyes and you could hear each child gasp in amazement as they were faced with otherwise impossible scenes.”
“FANTASTIC!! A 5* virtual experience delivered to 70 Year 4 pupils who were enthralled from start to finish. The children's reactions were priceless! We would not hesitate to book Prime VR again in the future and highly recommend their workshops to any teacher wanting to give their pupils a memorable learning experience. Thank you!”

Geography school trip ideas for primary schools
Educational visits linked to the national curriculum for geography.
Our planet is incredible. Who can fail to marvel at the diversity of landscapes David Attenborough has brought into our living rooms, be amazed to learn that at certain times of the year you can walk from the U.S. to Russia, or wonder at the fact that continents shift at the same rate as our fingernails grow? And that’s only physical geography – human geography can be equally amazing. Did you know that California has more people than the whole of Canada?
Educational school trips are made for geography, for fieldwork and observation, practical experience and getting hands-on. It’s a subject that demands investigation, opens up new discoveries, and encourages important skills such as critical-thinking and problem-solving. In fact, Ofsted have found that good and regular fieldwork motivates pupils and enhances their learning in geography.
Geography school trips give primary school children a basic, practical understanding of what it is to be a geographer – studying the earth’s physical features and how it affects and is affected by human society – by experiencing it for themselves.
For geography primary school trip ideas near you, simply select your region and choose the class trip that suits your needs.

A high-quality geography education should inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. (A great geography school trip will certainly help with that – it can be something your pupils will remember forever.)
Pupils should learn about different places, people, and natural and human environments, and gain a deep understanding of the earth’s physical and human processes.
Key Stage 1 – Pupils should be taught
Locational knowledge
• Our continents and oceans
• UK countries, capitals and seas Place knowledge
• Start to understand geographical similarities and differences Human and physical geography
• Recognise weather patterns in the UK and both hot and cold areas of the world
• Use basic geographical vocabulary to refer to key physical and human features, for example beach, cliff, coast, and city, town, village Geographical skills and fieldwork
• Use maps and atlases to locate the UK and other countries, continents and oceans
• Use simple compass directions and directional language, for example near and far
• Use aerial photographs and plans to recognise landmarks and human and physical features
• Devise a simple map
• Use simple fieldwork and observational skills to study the human and physical geography of their school and surrounds
Key Stage 2 – Pupils should be taught
• Locate the world’s countries, focusing on Europe and North and South America. Learn about their physical and human characteristics and major cities
• Learn the counties and cities of the UK, their human and physical characteristics, main topographical features and how they have changed
• Identify latitudes, longitudes and time zones Place knowledge
• Enhance understanding of geographical similarities and differences Human and physical geography
• Physical: climate zones, rivers, mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes, and the water cycle
• Human: types of settlement and land use, economic activity, and the distribution of natural resources Geographical skills and fieldwork
• Use analogue and digital mapping to locate countries and describe features
• Use the eight points of a compass, four and six-figure grid references, symbols and keys
• Use fieldwork to observe, measure, record and present the human and physical features in the local area using a variety of techniques

Volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote
from £575pp
Based on 4 days
Suitable for Secondary Schools
Lanzarote is the oldest island in the Canaries. Its extraordinary landscapes created by the violent volcanic eruptions of the 18th and 19th centuries are breathtaking, with the vast malpais (literally the bad lands) of lava flows set against a skyline of jagged cones and dormant craters.
This is a really popular trip - the island is an exciting destination for geography students, allowing them to study plate tectonics, volcanoes and the human challenges of living in such an environment.
Our Suggested Itinerary
Flight to Lanzarote.
Submarine Safari! Experience a dive onboard a real submarine which will take you over 30m below the unexplored waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Visit Playa Blanca. Golden sand, clear water and blue skies mean the Beaches of Playa Blanca are a great place to relax on your first day.
National Park of Timanfaya. A visit to the volcanoes of 'Fire Mountain' is an absolute must! This protected area is a fine example of a landscape created during a period of intense volcanic activity. Features include craters, volcanic cones, domes, lava flows and geothermal activity.
Salinas de Janubio. During its heyday, the Salinas produced around 10,000 tons of sea salt per year, with the water originally being pumped into the lagoon by wind power. The patchwork of salt pans sets apart black volcanic scenery around it.
Visit Los Hervideros (literally the 'Boiling Waters') are a series of caves and blow holes which have been eroded into a former Lava flow. Here it is possible to walk around the cliffs and watch the breakers crash into the caves from one of the natural 'balconies'.
Visit El Golfo , the coastal area with its black volcanic beaches, the site of a half-submerged volcanic cone, eroded by the sea. Over time the ocean has eaten into the volcano, leaving an emerald-green lagoon which produces a magnificent array of colours depending on the position of the sun.
Visit Museum César Manrique Foundation. The unique appeal of Lanzarote can be attributed very much to the artist César Manrique whose impact has endured. His former home is constructed on a lava field incorporating volcanic bubbles.
Visit Jameos del Agua , César Manrique's creation, Jameos del Agua is an underground lava bubble wonderfully converted into an auditorium and theatre.
Casa de los Volcanes. César Manrique literally carved himself a niche on the island of Lanzarote in the hardened lava rock that populates the island. His amazing underground home is a tribute to both the beautiful island and his art.
Visit Mirador del Rio. El Mirador was built in 1973 and is an intriguing observation point, built into a cliff face 475 metres above sea level
Cueva de los Verdes. One of the longest volcanic submarine lava tunnels in the world, the Cueva de Los Verdes has been protecting locals on Lanzarote for hundreds of years. Take a tour through the labyrinth of caves and enjoy this impressive illuminated rock formation.
Spend your last morning at the beach.
Return flight home.

School Trips to Sicily
The largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily’s rich cultural heritage and volcanic landscape make it a fascinating school trip for students of all ages, particularly those studying geography or classical history.
A school trip to Sicily gives students a chance to visit one of the most active volcanoes in the world, Mt. Etna. This is a prime case study which is guaranteed to bring elements of physical geography to life outside the classroom.
For history students, few places on Earth can claim to have been ruled by so many varied external powers. Roman, Byzantine, Islamic, Norman, Spanish and French empires have all claimed Sicily at one time or another, before the island finally unified with Italy in the 19th century. Comparing the lifestyles, architecture and cultural impact of these civilisations is a unique opportunity for any class.
Whatever your focus, NST plan out bespoke itineraries to meet the needs of your class and ensure that your Sicily school trip is an unforgettable experience for both students and teachers alike.

Classics & Ancient History
Until the 20th century, Sicily was the crossroads of the Mediterranean – Carthaginians, Greeks, Romans, Normans and Moors all passed through and left their mark. Explore this historical location on an exciting ancient history school trip to Sicily.

Sicily highlights - our groups love...
Mount etna .
A visit to Mount Etna - Europe’s highest and most active volcano – will open up a variety of study opportunities for your students. For geography groups the themes of plate tectonics and eruptions, land use, tourism and much more can be investigated here. Over the course of a full day your group will be transported by coach to 1,900 metres above sea level, then by cable car and jeep to reach 2,500 metres.
Lipari & Vulcano Islands
Sail along admiring the islands’ coastlines, before passing Punta Castagna. After docking, explore the town of Lipari or spend time in the town centre. You’ll then sail to the island of Vulcano. Here your group can explore the black beaches, hot springs and sulphur mud baths, which you can experience yourself for a small fee. Next, set sail around the Aeolian Islands where you’ll see an array of fascinating landforms including the Faraglioni, the Papa Giovanni rock and the Grotta degli Angeli.
Alcantara Gorges
Formed by the volcanic activity of Mount Etna, this stunning basalt formation known as the Alcantara Gorge lies on the Alcantara River about 20 minutes’ drive south west of Taormina. Etna’s geological influence on the surrounding countryside has created a beautifully scenic site encircled by small luscious green woods.
Strait of Messina & Tindari Lake
Strait of messina & tindari lake .
The Strait of Messina is a narrow passage between the eastern tip of Sicily and the southern tip of Italy which connects the Tyrrhenian and Ionian seas. The intense currents and characteristic chemistry of the waters of the Strait determine an extraordinary ecosystem with a high abundance and diversity of species.
In Tindari groups can visit the Black Madonna Sanctuary situated high on the cliff tops. Hear how the statue of the Black Madonna is said to have been created at the base of the cliffs. You will also have a fantastic viewpoint over this ‘linguetta di sabbia’ (tongue of sand), which stretches 1.5km into the sea, defiantly resisting the destructive, relentless raids of the Tyrrhenian.
Taormina & Giardini Naxos
Taormina & giardini naxos .
The medieval town of Taormina is popular with tourists, groups can vsit the Greek theatre reconstructed in the second century AD with its unforgettable view of Mount Etna. The seaside resort of Giardini Naxos has many churches and archaeological park where groups like to spend some free time.
Etna Land Theme Park
A popular Sicily attraction, which is embarking on a transformation from water park to a theme park. Groups can enjoy a full day at this exciting amusement park.
In this beautiful and historic capital the classical tradition can be followed in the mosaics of the Norman Palatine Chapel and the cathedral of Monreale made by Byzantine craftsmen. Visit the church of San Giovanni degli Eremiti and pay a visit to the Archaeological Museum with its intriguing Selinunte finds.
Segesta & Selinunte
Segesta is one of the best preserved Greek archaeological sites. Groups can examine the unfinished Greek temple alone on the hillside with its columns still unfluted and lifting bosses still in place. A well-preserved Hellenistic theatre is also here which can be reached via a short shuttle bus ride.
Selinunte has one of the earliest and one of the largest Greek temples. One temple has been helpfully reconstructed to enable students to visualise the site. The quarries at Rocca di Cusa provide evidence for how the stones for the temples were cut from the rock.
Valley of Temples, Agrigento
Classicists can examine the remarkable Valley of the Temples. The Archaeological museum set among the remains of Roman and Hellenistic ruins contains one of the giant telamones from the temple of Zeus. A comfortable overnight base before continuing to Noto, Sicily’s ‘Baroque City’.
Piazza Armerina
Famous for its Roman mosaics in the Villa Romana del Casale, the town also has a range of significant architecture.
