Reviews for Journey Early Learning Centre Kyneton

This is such a wonderful childcare centre. The staff have been exceptionally caring to our two kids. They have especially gone above and beyond for our 1yo who is having his first experience of care outside the home. The administrative staff have also all been so warm and flexible, which has helped ease the transition for the whole family. Highly recommend

Compare queue, national quality standard rating.

In January 2012 the National Quality Framework (NQF) came into effect across Australia. The purpose of the NQF is to improve and standardise the quality of child care through a range of measures including better staff to child ratios, higher staff qualifications and an assessment and rating system designed to promote continuous improvement. Under the NQF child care services are assessed and rated against the National Quality Standards (NQS).

The NQS measures the quality of early childhood education and care in Australia. It will cover most long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten and outside school hours care services. Under these standards child care services will be assessed and rated against the seven quality areas, 18 standards and 58 elements that make up the NQS.

Embracia Childcare and Kindergarten

Kyneton Childcare

About our childcare.

Embracia Childcare and Kindergarten delivers long daycare services for children aged 6 weeks up to preschool age (6 years) from 7.00am – 6.00pm. Our brand-new childcare centre is located in picturesque Kyneton and purpose built with the community and your whole family in mind. Located at the Old Kyneton Hospital site, our centre opened in August 2023.

We keep our age groups close in each room to ensure all our children have the opportunity to engage with children their own age. We utilise our larger outdoor play spaces to allow children to play with children in wider age groups. This helps encourage social skills as well as to assist children to mirror the fine motor and gross motor skills of older children.

We have an inclusive culture, including a wide range of cultural events throughout the year to help inspire and educate our children that diversity is something to be celebrated.

That’s why our nursery spaces are thoughtfully designed, ensuring sustainability and offering sensory-rich resources, outdoor play areas, and dedicated cot spaces for much-needed rest times.

journey child care kyneton

As toddlers explore and learn to express themselves, we actively support their development through child-led learning. Our approach involves offering a diverse range of resources and dedicated spaces that foster creativity in various ways such as construction, music, craft, literacy, science, and technology. To keep our children constantly engaged and to encourage exploration of their interests, we regularly update and expand our learning spaces, allowing them to advance their own learning and development.

We have a team of dedicated Bachelor Qualified Kindergarten Teachers who have thoughtfully designed our program. The main objective is to prepare your child for significant developmental milestones and ensure they are ready for school. Within our kindergarten, students learn essential structured routines while also honing their social and emotional skills, which are invaluable for their educational journey ahead.

Our unique and enriching curriculum includes programs like ‘Togetherness with the Elderly,’  and incorporates Aboriginal heritage, nature, and community.

Kyneton is conveniently located adjacent to the Calder Freeway 87 km North-West of Melbourne and 66 km South-East of Bendigo. The drive to Melbourne, other than at peak times, is just over an hour and to Bendigo about 50 minutes. Train travel to Melbourne or to Bendigo takes around an hour and with 22 services per day and daily fares now identical to those in Melbourne make train travel an attractive alternative to driving.

The population of the Kyneton township, according the 2021 Census, was 7513 and growing. Many residents work locally but a significant number commute to Melbourne and elsewhere for their employment. Kyneton’s location just an hour from the City and its strong appeal as a culinary, history, nature-based and special events destination, has made it a popular tourist attraction. Local vineyards also offer the opportunity to sample and purchase the highly regarded local wines at the cellar door.

Some of the finest historic bluestone buildings in Victoria are a main feature of the town. These date back to the Gold-Rush era when Kyneton was a major supply town for the diggings. Walking maps for walks to explore these outstanding buildings can be obtained from the Kyneton Visitor information Centre.

Nature Based Attractions

The Kyneton Botanic Gardens, Campaspe River and Black Hill are all close by for a picnic or a for undertaking excellent walks. Deciduous trees are ablaze in Autumn, silent and silhouetted in winter, green and vibrant in Spring and wonderful shade in summer. Proximity to nature-based attractions at Hanging Rock, Mt Macedon, Malmsbury Trentham and Daylesford add to the town’s appeal as a base for Central Victorian touring.

Shopping, Business and Employment

Art galleries, home furnishing, craft, books, nurseries, gifts, food, wine, clothing, and a myriad of other businesses service the area providing a rewarding experience for visitors and locals alike. A significant business park is being developed in the North of the town in Saleyards Rd Kyneton for businesses, factories and warehouses conveniently located adjacent to the Calder Freeway and adding to local employment opportunities.

Special Events

In September the renowned Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival has 10 days of events to suit all tastes and regular race meetings at the Kyneton Racecourse throughout the year including the 'Kyneton Cup' provide a great outing. Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas encourages the county to help amidst childcare affordability, availability crisis

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A lack of affordable and available childcare has left many parents with a tough decision--pay the hefty fee or leave their jobs.

According to the latest report by Child Care Aware of America , childcare for two children costs twice as much as rent in 11 different states, including Kansas. 13.6 percent of a married Kansas couple’s income is put toward childcare and the number jumps to 43.7 percent for a single-income family.

Sarah Elsen, the executive director of the group’s Eastern Kansas chapter , believes there are solutions to help fix this broken model.

CCAoA’s data shows many childcare centers were able to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic successfully, however, the financial help that got many of these facilities through is now dwindling.

“There were sustainability dollars,” Elsen explained. “There were spark dollars that were able to be invested into childcare and help providers, and some of those dollars have dried up and gone away and so we have seen a lot of childcare providers close their doors,”

The price tag is not the only issue.

“If we look at solving the child care crisis, then more people are going to be able to go back to work, but it isn’t just the affordability piece, it is the availability piece too, and the wages that we are paying have not kept up and so we really need to invest in them,” Elsen said. “ One of the first things businesses look at, maybe they’re looking at relocating a business here or starting a new office here is are there child care slots?”

Elsen says growth in Shawnee Co. will only be possible if the issue of childcare scarcity is taken seriously. Child Care Aware, with the Greater Topeka Partnership, recently obtained a $3-million accelerator grant to create more openings.

Even so, Elsen says there’s more work to be done and while they were able to create 452 new slots, the county is still about 45 percent in deficit of the childcare slots needed.

She encourages Shawnee County businesses to invest in the cause. One way to help right now is donating to the Family Forward scholarship fund--an initiative seeking to expand affordable and quality child care across the county through donations from businesses.
