Not worth the stress of trying to make a claim

Currently trying to make a claim. Your phone number isn't valid, the chat box is useless. The AXA claims portal refers me back to your website. Do you really exist as an insurance company? Not only do I have to deal with my problem but I have to deal with a fly-by-night provider! Better to pay more for a reputable firm. Thank you for your response. I would love to have contacted you but my review is based on not being able to contact you. I am now undergoing treatment for my injury and will make another attempt at claiming shortly. Strange you cannot verify me as a customer. Would my policy numbers help?

They fixed my phone the screen failed…

They fixed my phone the screen failed and broke 2 months later.. they tried to tell me it has new damage to my handset which is not true. my phone was working fine the night before.. I opened my flip screen and there was 3 lines going horizontally across the screen where it bends.. later that day the screen went completely black. I have not broke or dropped my handset.. I have a galaxy z flip phone and I assume this is why my screen went black after a while as the pressure of it being flipped.. they told me I need to make a new claim and it’s not covered under warranty because my screen is “bleeding” and this is classed as new damage.. my screen broke for no reason and I can only assume it’s down to their incompetence. Clearly my screen was not fixed properly in the first place and this is why it broke not even 2 months later. You’ll have to make new claims every other month when their repair fails. AVOID

Please note most of these great reviews are just buying the insurance. Claiming is a completely different matter. Back in February I was taken ill on holiday where I had an emergency operation. It was so difficult to get hold of anyone to make a claim and when I did they did absolutely nothing to help. It’s now April and I had to pay for everything myself. I was told by the doctor I had to fly home lying down in business class but they couldn’t even sort this for me. I had to endure a 13hr flight in agony. I’m still yet to hear anything back from loveit cover it. It’s impossible to call as they are based in Spain and all the automated phone services are in Spanish. My next port of call is the ombudsman. Please avoid this company unless you have enough money to pay your own medical. (And before I get a silly response again saying this isn’t a legit complaint the policy is in my husbands name)

Claim handled very well in the first instance by Love It so can't praise highly enough that side of it. Had issues with the 3rd party who was meant to undertake the repair we fix but Love It did sort it (albeit after the power of Trust Pilot) and I have made alternative arrangements to get the repair done

last quality service ever I received from love it cover it. They just publish fake claim settlement ratio and only want to make money and after issuing policy there is zero services. Do not waste your hard earned money behined worst to worst company to insure your gadget. After I posted review, see the reply, and that is why I Mentioned below message. Now public can see, and it is extremely clear that customer has to know by what time you are going to lose your handset, if do not know your claim will be rejected. Unbelievable!!!!! So, guys be clear, before losing your gadget you need to make a call or to inform loveit coverit, that may be you are going to lose your device. Bloody hell!!!!!

Upon further review of your claim, we can see this was rejected as you were unable to supply evidence that your device was used up to your incident date. During the claims process we had asked you to place the device into lost mode on the Find my iPhone which you had correctly done however after we can see this was removed. medical cover at its best.

This company gave me the best medical cover on the market without the crazy price tag, it included cruising. Unfortunately i had to cancel the policy, as the medical condition became worse, i rang the company and received a refund (14 day cooling off period) a lovely lady was kind and helpful. I will be booking with them again when able to.

Rip-off, avoid!

Paid for 50 day travel insurance. Airline changed my flight to 2 days earlier and loveit coverit forced me to pay 15% extra on top of my insurance. Refused to let me cancel and go elsewhere even though the trip is still a while off. I'm a regular traveller and won't use them again, I advise you don't either!

Dear lol I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with the additional costs to include these extra 2 days. There would normally be an increase in price when there is an increase in days covered. When working this additional amount out the price also considers adding on days to cover for cancellation before the trip is taken, as well as a general increase in risk of cover, by adding 2 extra days. We would not be able to change this price. As also stated in your terms and conditions we are not able to cancel and refund policies outside of the 14 day cooling off period. This is why we have not been able to provide a refund when you requested your cancellation. Save yourself the money and the drama. I have 3 policies of our 3 devices with this company, been a customer for many years. However when it was unfortunately time to make a claim this disgrace of a company were the worst! Over a week and a half later after my son lost his phone and we are still waiting for a “refurbished replacement” despite paying the excess of £175 a week ago!!! Shocking customer service and complaints service even worse. I genuinely would implore people never to ever use this company if you want a decent and swift service in the unfortunate event of needing to make a claim.

Upon reviewing your claim, I can see there was a delay at the start due to not receiving the correct documents however upon receiving the documents needed your claim was then moved on. Due to the device you have insured our stocks team did not have this particular model in stock so they had to order a device in which I understand has arrived today and that we have arranged for this to be with you for tomorrow. Extremely annoyed

Extremely disappointed that my emergency cancellation was not covered as I lost my passport less than 72 hours I have been. Verbally told a week ago but STILL never got any written confirmation. What is the point of travel insurance if not for emergencies?? Nb. 28.03.24 I was contacted by this company regarding my review. I was told the underwriters have contacted them, after investigation, to say they have furnished Me with a reason as to why they are not covering my claim. I have YET to receive such correspondence as I was advised unofficially 2 weeks ago by constantly contacting them, after being strung along for weeks. Extremely disappointed to say the least. Why do we bother ensuring holidays if theycare riddled with catches and clauses which deem them useless and a complete false sense of security! I did not receive any written confirmation to this from Axa. Was it emailed? Did they use a read receipt? When was this sent?

This company gave me the best medical cover on the market without the crazy price tag, it included cruising. Unfortunately i had to cancel the policy, as the medical condition became worse, i rang the company and received a refund (14 day cooling off period) a lovely lady was kind and helpful. Rip-off, avoid!

Paid for 50 day travel insurance. Airline changed my flight to 2 days earlier and loveit coverit forced me to pay 15% extra on top of my insurance. Refused to let me cancel and go elsewhere even though the trip is still a while off. I'm a regular traveller and won't use them again, I advise you don't either!

When working this additional amount out the price also considers adding on days to cover for cancellation before the trip is taken, as well as a general increase in risk of cover, by adding 2 extra days. We would not be able to change this price. As also stated in your terms and conditions we are not able to cancel and refund policies outside of the 14 day cooling off period. Save yourself the money and the drama. I have 3 policies of our 3 devices with this company, been a customer for many years. However when it was unfortunately time to make a claim this disgrace of a company were the worst! Over a week and a half later after my son lost his phone and we are still waiting for a “refurbished replacement” despite paying the excess of £175 a week ago!!! Shocking customer service and complaints service even worse. Extremely disappointed that my emergency cancellation was not covered as I lost my passport less than 72 hours I have been. Verbally told a week ago but STILL never got any written confirmation. What is the point of travel insurance if not for emergencies?? Nb. 28.03.24 I was contacted by this company regarding my review. I was told the underwriters have contacted them, after investigation, to say they have furnished Me with a reason as to why they are not covering my claim. I have YET to receive such correspondence as I was advised unofficially 2 weeks ago by constantly contacting them, after being strung along for weeks. Extremely disappointed to say the least. Why do we bother ensuring holidays if theycare riddled with catches and clauses which deem them useless and a complete false sense of security! I did not receive any written confirmation to this from Axa. Was it emailed? Did they use a read receipt? When was this sent?

Artificial intelligence is changing the way you buy travel insurance. Here's how.

Artificial intelligence is transforming the way you buy travel insurance. From shopping for a policy to filing a claim, there's no part that hasn't been touched by AI.

"AI is revolutionizing travel insurance," says Greg Jung, chief growth officer for Seven Corners . "It's making it more efficient and tailored to individual needs."

Words like "efficient" and "tailored" are rare in the one-size-fits-all, bureaucratic travel insurance industry. For years, consumers had limited choices. And when they filed a claim, it took close to forever to get an answer, much less get paid.

Not anymore.

Jung says AI is doing away with that. The benefits to travelers include:

  • Personalized coverage. AI can analyze vast amounts of data on traveler profiles, including travel history, preferences, and even risk factors like age and health conditions. That allows insurers to recommend customized travel insurance plans that provide the right level of coverage for each individual's needs.
  • Proactive risk management. AI can analyze data to predict potential disruptions or emergencies that could impact a traveler's trip. This allows insurers to offer assistance, such as medical advice or flight rebooking assistance, in case of unforeseen events.
  • Faster claims processing. AI can automate much of the claims process, verifying documents, assessing damages, and expediting settlements. Travelers can be reimbursed for covered expenses much more quickly, especially for straightforward claims.

Behind the scenes, travel insurance companies are also using AI to conduct better risk management. And there are parts of the business where travel insurance companies won't talk about how they use AI, such as in efforts to sell policies on their sites. Travel insurance companies are also hush-hush about how they are analyzing data to set rates and identify patterns in fraudulent claims data.

This story is a long time coming. Travel insurance companies have been generally slow to adopt AI. You can see artificial intelligence in action in a few places, but in the places that matter to you — such as finding the best policy — there are still some gaps. AI won't fix everything in travel insurance, but it promises to make many things better.

What took travel insurance so long?

Why has AI been slow to catch on in the travel insurance industry? Well, it has — and it hasn't. I wrote about how Allianz was using machine learning to improve its products five years ago .

But across the industry, change has been gradual.

"Travel Insurance is highly regulated," explains Tim Dodge, vice president of marketing at Arch RoamRight . "There are strict policy definitions, communications guidelines and adjudication rules to which we must adhere. For AI to be successful in our industry, it has to be implemented carefully; improving the customer experience while maintaining regulatory compliance."

If you file a travel insurance claim and get frustrated with the time it takes to be settled, it's because of the way travel insurance is set up. There's a lot of required documentation to review in support of the claim.

Dodge says AI can potentially facilitate and speed up the claims handling process and reduce claimants' frustrations, and that's what travel insurance companies are now doing.

Where can you see AI in action right now in travel insurance?

Travel insurance companies are not waiting for the future.

Arch RoamRight’s AI chatbot has been integrated into every aspect of its customer experience, from its phone system to its website and travel agent portal. It's even used as a training tool for new hires, according to Dodge.

At Generali Global Assistance , a carefully trained chatbot helps customers obtain instant assistance, receive accurate information, and navigate policy complexities. "This digitalization empowers our agents to provide personalized support promptly," says Christopher Carnicelli, CEO of Generali Global Assistance.

Allianz Travel Insurance has been using AI to help streamline its claims process for years. It just added a new chatbot for customer support, too. "Our chatbot supports the customer during filing in the event the customer has questions or needs further assistance, and uses AI to qualify the customer’s needs to quickly get them the help they need,” explains Maggie Butler, director of customer experience at Allianz Partners USA.

At Faye Travel Insurance , an AI-powered app helps customers file claims for flight cancellations, baggage delays, and medical emergencies. The app speeds up the claims process, ensuring travelers get paid in hours instead of days. "It's part of our commitment to making travel insurance an integral and personalized part of each traveler’s experience," says Elad Schaffer, Faye's CEO.

Over time, the entire travel insurance industry will embrace AI. But there are exceptions.

Can artificial intelligence help you find the best travel insurance?

AI might help you find a better policy, but you have to know where to look. I tested the major AIs to see how they responded to a sample query, "I'm a 28-year-old woman who lives in New York. I am planning a one-week trip to Paris this summer. Please help me find the best travel insurance."

  • Gemini offered two options — Generali and Travel Insured International, but did not show rates or a bookable link. The responses appeared to be based on a news article.
  • Meta AI generated a succinct response citing the benefits of travel insurance with key coverage areas.
  • Microsoft Copilot showed a generic "how-to" story about travel insurance based on an article I had written for Forbes.
  • Hugging Face gave a generic response with advice on how to buy travel insurance.
  • Perplexity offered several specific options, including Seven Corners, Nationwide and Travelex. However, it based its quotes on a story on a news site and did not offer a link to buy the policies.

Bottom line: You can't really shop for travel insurance using AI — at least, not yet.

AI doesn't work for everything in travel insurance

In the travel insurance industry, like in other places, artificial intelligence isn't the answer to everything.

For example, at INF Visitor Care , a company that sells travel insurance to those traveling to the U.S., AI is helping automate its claims system. INF applies machine learning to identify emerging trends in claims to design policies that cover customers when they need it for unexpected issues.

"It has revolutionized the way we think about pricing and policy coverages," says PK Rao, CEO of INF Visitor Care .

But when it comes to customer service, AI is not always the best solution.

"We find customers enjoy talking to a live person on chat and phone," adds Rao.

The future of travel insurance and AI is promising

Over the long term, AI promises to reshape the travel insurance business into one that works the way customers expect it to — quickly, nimbly and efficiently.

At least that's what Daniel Green, chief technology officer for Faye Travel Insurance , sees.

"Imagine a world where most insurance claims are processed in hours instead of days," he says. "A computer system can go out and collect all the documentation for you and prepare the paperwork perfectly, ready for a human to make a quick decision on whether to approve it or not."

AI also has the potential to insure you for only what you need — to give you the "perfect" policy.

"AI can prepare it in seconds based on being able to tell a computer in your own words what coverage you need, by having it translated into insurance paperwork-speak for you," he adds.

We aren't quite there yet, but we're getting close.

There's one more thing that is potentially keeping AI from changing travel insurance — and that is customers themselves.

Breanne Armstrong, who is director of insurance intelligence at J.D. Power, says most consumers understand that artificial intelligence and machine learning have a lot of potential, "but there is hesitancy."

Armstrong bases her observation on another study that J.D. Power recently conducted on banking customers and AI. Only 28% of respondents said they believe AI will make their lives better in the next three years. Roughly one-third say it will make no difference, and 17% say it will make their lives worse.

All you have to do is engage with any chatbot to understand those 17% of respondents. Talking to an AI about banking or travel insurance — or anything else, really — can quickly end in frustration.

"There are mixed sentiments," adds Armstrong.

That may well describe how people feel about travel insurance and AI. It could be great. But if it isn't implemented carefully, it could be not so great.

Policy amendment.

I had changed phone so wanted to amend the policy. Very simple process, Joshua clearly explained process over the phone & I had an email within minutes outlining the information needed. Where is there a 0 option

Where is there a 0 option. The most ridiculous set up of a company I have ever witnessed. I feel embarrassed for those who work as part of this company. Got my phone stolen and made out to feel like a liar as IMEI is now active again. How can I prove this? They accept my claim take the excess money and then suddenly change their mind and reject the claim. So frustrating and nobody is getting back to me for trying to appeal this. The worst insurance cover I have ever witnessed!

Excellent Service!

Excellent service at a great price! I contacted Loveit coverit to amend an insurance policy and had a response the same day asking me to send in various pieces of info. When I had all the information gathered I emailed back and within 15 mins had a reply to say the change had been made and they informed me they had reduced the cost by 10% for being a loyal customer. In addition I had to make a claim last year for my son's lost phone and the service I had was great. I received a new phone very quickly after all relevant checks were complete. I would recommend this company to anyone wishing to insure their phone.
