European Discovery (Summer, Start Amsterdam, Classic, 12 Days)
Couldn’t recommend this the European Discovery Tour enough!! It definitely is fast pace but the Bus rides help to break it up. Brendan our Tour guide and Doiogo our bus driver were an amazing team that were always happy to help. Thank you guys for an amazing experience l, have made life long friends!

All About Balkans (4 Star Hotels)
Excellent tour company. My request for optional tour to Medjugorje Apparition Hill of the Virgin Mary was accommodated since it’s on the way to another option tour to Kravice Falls. The tour guide Simon from Travel Talk operator is the best keeping the group interact with each other that everyone bonded well. Simon made sure that my sister is taken cared of waiting at the meeting place while the group do the walking tour during the heat wave. One of the group got lost when it’s time to leave and Simon went to look for him in the town square full of tourists and luckily found him going the opposite direction from the meeting place. Simon treated all of us like family. Chris the driver is also an excellent tour bus driver. He made sure that everyone is safe with his driving skills in narrow roads and highways. He takes selfies group picture for all of us including him of course because he is part of the group family. Overall this is the best land tour company my family has ever been and we had several before this. I would highly recommend Tour Radar to everyone going to do All about Balkans 12 days.

Rome to Berlin: Piazzas, Prague & the Past
Great diversity of countries and cities but WAY too fast paced. One night in Slovenia and Poland was ridiculous and with travel time some days we spent less than 15 hours in the city. The guide was a but inexperienced so we didn't have a good description of some of the cities. Great way to make friends and see cities! Would recommend going end of August or later as it was still very hot going through the cities!!
Balkan Discovery (4 Star Hotels)
excellent, highly recommended
Zagreb to Athens: Adriatic & Ancient Capitals
Excellent tour with fantastic tour guide (Noddy). It's a tour aimed at younger (under 40) travellers, so the accommodation is mainly hostels and the pace is pretty fast but we still managed to spend a reasonable amount of time in each place. There was a good balance of history/culture and activities, and there is a lot of flexibility with the optional activities and free time to spend more or less time at the beach, museums, etc. Highly recommended as an introduction to the Balkans!
Croatia Sailing Adventure
Ivan is incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. I felt very safe at all times and he was very accommodating. Ivan made sure that everyone was super comfortable and happy, it was great to be apart of such a trip! He was even able to change the trip on the fly as there was bad weather that would have precluded a lesser guide from being able to keep everyone happy and comfortable. However, Ivan accommodated everything with grace and courtesy.
Essential Turkey
Loved this trip one of the best trips I have done with a lovely group, guide and country
5 Day Skye & Highland Fling
An absolute blast from start to finish! The schedule was well paced, every location is stunning, the hostels are decent, the Loch Ness one in particular has some lovely hosts. Neil, our guide, is very knowledgable and constantly dropped awesome lore on top of some banging jokes. I got lucky with the timing as the weather was unusually clear except for the last day, while still cold enough to see snow (lost my snow virginity!!) and avoid the midgies. Oh I got to see the highland coos up close too. Can’t recommend this tour enough as your first experience with Scotland!

Central Europe Group Rail Tour (18-35)
I am so happy I took this trip! I love that there is a planned activity in each city but you also get free days to explore on your own or with new friends. Every city was stunning and I met some great people as well. The thing that made me want to leave a review the most was honesty our tour leader , Cristina was a delight and a perfect balance for our group. She made this trip more memorable then I could have imagined and had great tips for each city too!!!!! Truly an unforgettable experience I would highly recommend. I wish I did the whole Europe tour instead of just central Europe.

Play & Pause: Intro to Europe
Mamma Mia! - 13 Days/12 Nights
The Mama Mia tour was well organised and I had a great time throughout. Any hitches due to weather was sorted out , my tour leaders Ginaluca and Elisabetta were fantastic and made the trip fun! Veronica from the team was extremely helpful with all my additional requests. I was a solo traveller but ended up making great friends on the trip. You are with the best with Italy on a budget tours.
Highland Fling
The whole experience was amazing. I did not want it to end. Great value for money, going to places that you would never of known about or able to go to without the whole tour bus experience and with a great bunch of people to boot. Our tour guide Tom was totally amazing...there was nothing too much trouble, he was very knowledgeable, a great story teller, fun, helpful and overall a superb human being. Highly recommended
Whole of Europe Group Rail Tour (18-35)
Just got home from an amazing 4 week group trip with Euroventure! As someone who hadn’t really travelled before, it was really reassuring to have all the accommodation and travel sorted out for us. It was also really great to be accompanied by a tour leader (shout out to the legends Cristina and Kev) who made our experiences all the more enjoyable. Getting from place to place was always super chilled as our tour leader knew what to do and where to go. All the hostels were clean and comfy and some even provided us with free brekkie! The included activities were a real highlight and helped us to get the most out of our trip, but it was also good to have plenty of free time to do our own thing. I would really recommend travelling with Euroventure to anybody who is considering it, you will have the time of your life!
What people love about Europe Tours for Young Adults
Ri was an incredible guide! Not only did she give us interesting insights into each place we travelled, she also took the time to plan and make the trip so enjoyable. It was a trip of a lifetime!
I had an amazing experience touring Europe with Rianna. She was organised, fun, creative and knowledgeable. I learned lots from Ri but also had a lot of laughs. The trip experience was fast paced and could have been chaotic but with Ri's guidance and travel expertise it flowed seamlessly. 10/10
This was an amazing trip! Vojin was our tour guide; he was just excellent. Anything you wanted, pharmacy, postcards, restaurant recommendations, even taking pictures, which for me is a must, he was wonderful. I have been traveling for many years, and Vojin was the first tour guide who counted every passenger before we left the city on the bus. I can tell when a tour guide cares about his job and the traveling team, and Vojin goes beyond his comfort to take care of his travel team from Bulgaria to Macedonia. I would also like to mention the bus driver Slavče, was amazing; I am still in shock at how he managed to turn on streets with very little angle, and driving through the mountains of Montenegro and Macedonia was amazing. In most of the Balkans, everything is written in the Latin Alphabet, so it was easier to walk through the cities or restaurants and walk separately. On the trip to Greece, I was with Kostas. He did a great job, taking us to the best locations in Greece. Even a city in Greece where only Greek tourists go, no foreign tourists, was great. There was an excellent view and food. Great picture locations. Unlike the Balkans, in Greece, with the exception of Athens, everything is written in the Greek alphabet, so you need to stay together as a team so you won't get lost. I would recommend the Balkans and Greece for a tour. Besides the great and beautiful views, the wine is excellent in every country!

What makes a trip to Europe with TFT special?
Authentic meals.
Europe is famous for its the wide variety of cuisine and we eat where the locals eat! We avoid chain restaurants and encourage our groups to try new foods (Yes, that means trying escargot in Paris and the infamous haggis of Scotland!)
Age Specific Tours
We offer trips to Europe for specific age groups. There are tours exclusively for middle school, 9th and 10th graders, and “older teens” finishing 11th and 12th grade. Each tour is uniquely designed to be age appropriate.
Central Accommodation
Other companies cut costs by staying outside the city center, but we stay right in the middle of the action! Our hotels are always carefully chosen for a great and safe location that allows us to maximize our time exploring and feel more like a local.
Unparalleled Experience
Did you know TFT started running tours to Europe over 20 years ago? Since then Europe has become one of our most popular destinations, and we offer more trips to Europe and visit more countries than any other teen travel company!

See Europe as the Europeans do this summer with these pro tips | Cruising Altitude
Americans are heading to Europe for vacation as much as ever these days, and that means the typical tourist spots like Venice, Paris and London are sure to be crowded this year. But, because this is Cruising Altitude, we’ll look at the aviation angle first.
First and foremost: If you’re really determined to go to Europe this summer and haven’t booked yet, stop reading now and get on it.
“I’ve never seen a year like this … We’re at the point where there’s no more availability,” Brigitte Armand, president of Eurobound , a tour organizer that specializes in European packages, told me. “Book as quickly as possible.”
How to get around
According to Armand, trains are generally a great way to get from place to place within Europe, but for farther-flung stops, the continent’s network of low-cost airlines offers travelers a reliable alternative.
Learn more: Best travel insurance
“Don’t think of one airline as being your network and entry point within Europe,” Laura Lindsay, public relations director at online booking platform Skyscanner told me.
She said if you’re flying to Europe from the U.S., you may well rely on a large network carrier like British Airways, KLM, or Lufthansa to get across the Atlantic and then book your intra-European flights separately.
“You’re suddenly opening up Europe in a different way if you search for different airports and multiple airlines,” Lindsay said. “It’s pretty straightforward to get around, so don’t feel put off by jumping through a few different countries or trying a few different destinations.”
Tips for European airlines
According to Lindsay, European low-cost carriers like Ryanair, Easyjet and Wizz Air often have stricter baggage policies like American ULCCs Spirit and Frontier.
“(The) top tip would be always make sure you understand the luggage allowance that is part of your ticket,” she said. “More often than not, don’t book the basic fare without checking.”
It’s also a good idea to be flexible with your airports and dates of travel if you want to get the best deals on those shorter flights.
“You’ll get a number of places that have more than one airport,” Lindsay said, noting that Skyscanner has a tool that allows travelers to search for flights to or from nearby airports when choosing a destination. “Just getting a map out and actually looking at where exactly you want to travel and where the nearby airports are.”
Armand added that if you take the train instead, you may need to secure a reservation in advance, particularly for some of the more tourist-heavy routes like panoramic trains in Switzerland.
Last week's Cruising Altitude: There was no Golden Age of flying. We're in it now.
Where to go
If you really want to summer like a European, you should consider places a little more off the radar for most Americans.
“Albania is somewhere that broke through a couple of years ago as somewhere that people recognized as offering a huge value for money,” Lindsay said. “Sarajevo is reporting its busiest April on record for travelers.”
Armand said it can also be a good idea to try different parts of countries that are already popular if you want a more authentic, less crowded experience.
“We recently arranged a whole trip for some clients in the Abruzzo region of Italy,” she said. “The Abruzzo region, it’s on the Adriatic, people don’t know this region, and I think this is the first time ever we put together a package to get to that region.”
Data from Skyscanner shows that some destinations in Europe are picking up in popularity with travelers on the continent. Here are some trends bubbling up year over year from 2023 to 2024:
◾ Ljubljana, Slovenia, saw a 188% increase in searches from Spanish travelers
◾ Tromso, Norway, saw a 130% increase in interest from Italian holidaymakers
◾ Dusseldorf, Germany, had a 122% spike in interest from Brits
According to Armand, the best last-minute availability seems to be in Eastern Europe, like Bulgaria and Poland.
“There are some good deals there perhaps, even the Czech Republic I’m finding some decent space,” she said.
So go on, get packing.

Who Is Robert Fico, the Slovakian Prime Minister?
Much of the recent international discussion of Mr. Fico’s leadership has focused on his ties to President Vladimir Putin of Russia and Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary.

Robert Fico, 59, has played a pivotal role in Slovakian politics in the years since it gained independence in 1993 and has served as prime minister longer than any other leader.
Slovakia — a landlocked country of around 5 million people — gained independence after the so-called Velvet Revolution, a series of popular and nonviolent protests in 1989 against the Communist Party in what was at that time still Czechoslovakia. That year, the Berlin Wall fell, Communist power in much of Eastern Europe collapsed and the Cold War in effect ended.
Mr. Fico, who had been a Communist Party member while it was in power, founded the Smer party in the late 1990s. He began the first of his three terms as prime minister in 2006, serving for four years before going into opposition after his coalition lost an election. Mr. Fico returned to power in 2012 but resigned as prime minister in July 2018 following mass demonstrations over the murder of a journalist, Jan Kuciak, and his fiancée, Martina Kusnirova, who had been uncovering government corruption. The protests, which rocked the country, were the largest seen since the Velvet Revolution; demonstrators demanded the resignation of the government and new elections.
Slovakia ranks high in independent assessments of press freedom, but the protesters had also sought deeper changes in the country Mr. Fico had overseen.
The Smer party started out on the political left but has increasingly embraced right-wing views on immigration and cultural issues. Much of the international discussion of Mr. Fico’s leadership in recent years has focused on his ties to President Vladimir Putin of Russia and to Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary, Slovakia’s southern neighbor. Like Mr. Orban, Mr. Fico has been a staunch critic of the European Union.
After a parliamentary election last fall, Mr. Fico began his third term as prime minister, then had heart surgery the next month. He emerged to form a coalition government after securing around 23 percent of the vote, having campaigned against sanctions that were imposed on Russia after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022. Not one round of the country’s ammunition should be sent to Ukraine, he had told voters.
That stance, in a country where pro-Russian sentiment had historically been significant, worried E.U. leaders in Brussels, who said they feared that Slovakia could form a pro-Russian alliance with Mr. Orban and, potentially, Italy’s leader, Giorgia Meloni, that would impede support for Ukraine in the European Union. At the time, it was also seen as a sign of the apparent erosion of the pro-Ukrainian bloc that Europe had formed after the invasion.
Slovakia’s military contributions to Ukraine were negligible compared with countries such as the United States and Britain. But last year it became one of several European Union countries on Ukraine’s borders to block imports of its grain, fearing that it could undermine Slovakia’s farmers.
In April, an ally of Mr. Fico, Peter Pellegrini, won a vote to become Slovakia’s president. The position is largely ceremonial, but analysts said the victory strengthened the grip of political forces friendly to Russia in Central Europe, given that Mr. Pellegrini opposed providing military and financial aid to Ukraine.
Mr. Fico was born on Sept. 15, 1964, into a working-class family in the city of Topolcany in the Nitra Region of what is now Slovakia. He graduated in 1986 from Comenius University Bratislava, where he received a law degree, according to the Slovak government’s website . He earned a doctorate at the Institute of State and Law at the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and served in the military from 1986 to 1987.
Mr. Fico studied in the United States, Britain, Finland, Belgium and France, specializing in human rights and criminal law, according to the government website. He married Svetlana Ficova, a lawyer and professor, and they have a son. News reports in Slovakia say the couple is separated.
An earlier version of this article misspelled the given name of Italy’s leader. She is Giorgia Meloni, not Georgia.

Brussels wants one in four European students to study abroad
Twenty-three per cent target adopted by european council despite calls for previous target to be lowered, not increased.
The European Union is set to increase its learning mobility target and now wants almost a quarter of students to study abroad.
The European Council, the voice of member governments, has adopted a series of recommendations put forward by the European Commission to promote the benefits of learning, studying or training abroad.
The new target will aim for at least 23 per cent of graduates in higher education to have a learning mobility experience at EU level by 2030.
This is up from a previous target of 20 per cent set in 2009, which some critics had been calling for to be scrapped or lowered, according to reports.
The Covid-19 pandemic contributed to an evolution of learning patterns over the past decade, boosting virtual and blended learning, according to the council.
Caroline Désir, minister of education for the French community of Belgium, said youth mobility has “long been at the heart” of the EU.
“Learning abroad can provide valuable skills and a stronger sense of the EU’s common values,” she added.
“[The] recommendation will help expand opportunities for everyone to take advantage of the immense benefits that come with learning, studying or training outside their country of birth.”
The council said studying abroad helps students develop personally, educationally and professionally, as well as tackling skills gaps within the green and digital transitions.
Participants will also build a “ strong sense of citizenship and an understanding of common values across Europe and beyond ”, it added.
According to a 2022 survey, only 15 per cent of Europeans aged between 15 and 30 had participated in studying, training or apprenticeships in another EU country.
Of those taking part in study abroad programmes by 2027, the council wants at least 20 per cent to come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
It also adopted a target stating that at least 12 per cent of learners in vocational education and training should benefit from learning mobility abroad.
To help member states achieve these goals , the council suggests strengthening language learning across all stages of education, raising awareness about learning mobility opportunities, and improving recognition of learning outcomes associated with studying abroad.
EU students who learn abroad through the Erasmus+ programme do not have to pay registration or tuition fees at their host university, receive a grant towards living and travel expenses, and can count their time studying as an integral part of their degree.

For 16-year-old Amara Francis, April 19 is a day that she has filed away in her mind as one that moved her deeply.
It was the day she met Charles Shay, a decorated World War II and Korean War veteran who hails from the Penobscot Nation tribe like she does, at a restaurant in Normandy, France.
In June 1944, Shay was a 19-year-old U.S. Army combat medic. He is credited with saving the lives of soldiers during the storming of the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Now he is 99.
A dinner with Shay was part of a World War II-themed trip to Europe that Francis and 37 of her peers from Old Town High School took last month. It was the first international trip of what Christina Turner hopes will be many more for students at Regional School Unit 34.
Turner, who has taught social studies at the school for the past seven years, began planning the trip in September 2022. She got the green light from the school board later that year.
If the board’s support continues, she hopes to travel with students to a different location every two years. Turner imagines trips to Rome, Greece and the Galapagos Islands because they are relevant to their lessons at school and get them “out of the classroom and into the real world,” she said.
During their April break, students visited museums and famous sites in London, Normandy and Paris, but dining with Shay was arguably the most unforgettable part. June 6 marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, known as the largest seaborne invasion in military history.
In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Shay reflected on the landings in Normandy that led to the liberation of France and Europe from Nazi Germany occupation, including the moment his friend died in his arms.
“I guess I was prepared to give my life if I had to. Fortunately, I did not have to,” he told the news agency.
Francis, who is a junior, was moved to tears when she saw the bronze bust of Shay at the Charles Shay Indian Memorial at Omaha Beach. The park also features a turtle sculpture made by Shay’s nephew, Tim Shay. The turtle, a sacred animal in the Penobscot tradition, points toward Indian Island, where Francis grew up hearing stories about Shay’s heroism and role as a tribal elder.
Francis recalled experiencing many “hard emotions” as she walked the beaches of Normandy. For her, the day was about reflecting on the historic events that once unfolded there and how Shay saved wounded soldiers from drowning in the sea.
His actions earned him a Silver Star. He also earned France’s Legion of Honor in 2007.
“There were tribes that sent people away not knowing whether they would return,” Francis said. “People were out there fighting for a country that didn’t recognize them yet, but they were willing to do whatever it took to clear that beach.”
Shay mostly stayed quiet during the dinner with students, but Marie-Pascale Legrand, a French woman who has helped care for him since he moved from Maine to Bretteville-l’Orgueilleuse, a French town in the Normandy region, told his story. She also wrote a book about his life, “Spirits are guiding,” which will be released this month, the AP reported.
Shay was taken prisoner by German forces in March 1945 and liberated a few weeks later. After the war, he reenlisted in the military, and he landed in North Korea in 1950. He received several honors for his work as a medic during World War II and the Korean War.
It’s one thing to hear about Shay’s heroic actions, but to shake his hand and thank him was surreal, senior Wyatt Vickers said. He also got Shay’s signature.
Vickers felt it was evident, just by the way Shay carried himself, that he had lived through so much history, the student said. “I have so much respect for that man,” Vickers added.
Seeing thousands of “white crosses and stars of David grave sites as far as the eye can see” at the Normandy American Cemetery also touched the 18-year-old.
“The energy there was really powerful. It was hard to grasp,” he said.
Students visited Winston Churchill’s underground war rooms, the Royal Air Force Museum, the Eiffel Tower and Napoleon’s tomb, among other sites, during their trip. Turner believes that by exposing students to new places, cultures and foods, they will have a greater appreciation for the world, including its history, she said.
When it came time to part ways with Shay, students filed into a line without prompting from chaperones, knelt down to look him in the eyes and shook his hand. It was a proud moment for an educator who works with a population that some see as self-involved but have shown how thoughtful they can be, Turner said.
“I think they all felt, like I did, that this was a gift,” she said. “I could live to be his age and never, ever forget it.”
