Mexican fans welcome Taylor Swift to her Latin American era

A fan watches Taylor Swift performs during the "The Eras Tour" in Mexico City, on August 24, 2023.

Taylor Swift began the international leg of her "Eras Tour" in Mexico City this weekend, with an enthusiastic welcome from fans who embraced the singer’s arrival in a uniquely Latino way.

Mexican fans personalized the elements that made the tour such a sensation in the U.S. — exchanging friendship bracelets, standing in hourslong merchandise lines and spotting local celebrities in the crowd — and got a few Spanish-language nods from Swift herself.

"After years of wanting to play in Mexico City, just got to play 4 of the most unforgettable shows for the most beautiful and generous fans," Swift wrote on Instagram on Monday. "Feeling so grateful for the memories we're making together on this tour ... TE AMO," she added, using a Mexican flag emoji.

Videos on social media show friendship bracelets customized with inscriptions like “Taynochtitlan,” a play on the name of the former capital of the Aztec Empire, “Taymalez,” and “ Teylor Suif ,” among other Spanish-language puns. Even Supreme Court Justice Arturo Zaldívar was seen exchanging bracelets with fellow fans.

And in one video ahead of the show, a fan is seen leaving a friendship bracelet at a statue of Tlaloc, the Aztec god of rain and lightning, so the singer would be spared bad weather.

At one of the sold-out shows at Foro Sol, one of Mexico's largest venues, Swift was recorded appearing to say “Te amo,” Spanish for “I love you,” to a young fan. In another clip, she hands the mic to one of her backup dancers, who replaces part of the lyrics to “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” with, “Like, nunca!”

In another video , fans can be heard chanting, “Taylor hermana ya eres Mexicana” (Taylor sister you’re already Mexican).

Outside Foro Sol, an unofficial “merch market” sold posters of Swift as the Virgin Mary as well as T-shirts and sweatshirts displaying the singer in her many musical facets. Fans following the show online praised the creative designs and lively spirit of the market.

Kevin Thébar, a fan who attended two of the Mexico City shows, said getting to witness the Eras Tour marked a "before and after" in his life.

"Not just in my life, but the life of all the fans who waited more than 10 years and all those new fans who had the chance to see and listen to her entire musical career in one concert," Thébar said in a message to NBC News in Spanish. "Beyond that, the fact that she brought her entire production is a huge step in how concerts are done in Mexico."

The Eras Tour, which concluded the first part of its U.S. run this month, has drawn unprecedented demand from fans around the world . Swift will continue her Latin American tour dates in November with nine shows across Argentina and Brazil .

Taylor Swift is extending her Eras Tour into Latin America. Today (June 2), the pop superstar announced new concert dates in countries like Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil.

Back in March, Swift kicked off the Eras Tour in the U.S. Her stateside tour run will wrap up on Aug. 9 at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA. The “Love Story” singer is performing her hits from all 10 of her studio albums on this tour.

For those Swifties in Latin America who were longing for the Eras Tour to visit them, they’re in luck. Swift will kick off the Latin American leg of the tour on Aug. 25 in Mexico City. She will perform three back-to-back dates at the emblematic Foro Sol stadium. On Nov. 9, Swift will bring her tour to Buenos Aires, Argentina, performing two concerts at the Estadio River Plate. She will also perform in São Paulo, Brazil, that month at the Allianz Parque, where she is booked for two dates.

Sabrina Carpenter will be opening for all the concerts on the Latin American leg. Moreover, additional dates will be announced soon.

Swift’s fans in Latin America are excited for her to bring the Eras Tour to their countries. “I’m shaking and crying, no mames, I can’t believe it,” wrote one fan in Spanish on Twitter. “Taylor Swift in Mexico with tickets only available to residents of the country.” Another fan wrote, “SCREAMING IN TAYLOR SWIFT SHE’S COMING TO ARGENTINA.”

With the difference in ticket prices and demand between the U.S. and Latin America, fans are already scheming how to keep people from traveling south of the border. “ There’s a vicious cartel called “Los Robagüeras” that roams Mexico City’s streets attacking concert-goers without a mexican postal code,” wrote one fan on Twitter. “If I were you, I wouldn’t come. Specially on the last week of August when they have their yearly killing celebrations.”

Other schemes to secure tickets include getting all your employees to try to get tickets for you and incentivizing them with a bonus, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” style. “I have a friend who’s going to make their employees register for Taylor Swift tickets and will give a bonus to the one who gets it,” they wrote.

Last week, Swift released a deluxe edition of her album Midnights . Among the new tracks were a remix of “ Karma ” featuring Ice Spice and “Snow On The Beach” with more vocals from Lana Del Rey.

by Tiffany Goldstein June 2, 2023, 8:00 pm

Taylor Swift knew “All Too Well” that the Latin America Swifties wanted to experience the Eras Tour.

Videos by American Songwriter

The international pop star turned to social media Friday afternoon (June 2) to announce the Latin American leg of the state-of-the-art show. Swift is scheduled to hold multiple nights in Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil.

Breakout star Sabrina Carpenter will serve as direct support.

“Really thrilled to tell you this!! Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil: We are bringing The Eras Tour to you this year!” Swift wrote on social media. “Sweet angel princess  @sabrinacarpenter  will be joining us on all of the shows!”

The Latin American trek is slated to kick off on Aug. 24 at FORO SOL in Mexico City, Mexico. The run will wrap with three consecutive nights at Allianz Parque stadium in Säno Paulo, Brazil.

The hitmaker dropped an easter egg within the announcement, teasing a global tour.

“LOTS more international dates to come soon, promise!” Swift concluded.

The gig serves as a full-circle moment for Carpenter, as the “Nonsense” singer paired the announcement with a screenshot of a tweet from 2010. Swift was on the Fearless Tour to support her second studio album at the time.

“The Taylor Swift concert was amazing, I had so much fun. I can’t wait to have a world tour someday like hers!” she wrote on Twitter. “Lol, with 2 sold-out shows!!!!!”

While many fans were quick to congratulate the vocalist, one shared a throwback video of Carpenter covering “Picture to Burn” 13 years ago. The track lives on Swift’s self-titled debut album, alongside “Tim McGraw,” “Teardrops On My Guitar,” and “Our Song.”

Swift has 11 remaining dates on her North American trek. The icon will appear next at Chicago’s Soldier Field on Friday (June 2).

Taylor Swift Taps Paramore for European Eras Tour Run

Taylor Swift knows we need more — so she’s giving us just that. The singer has added 14 more shows to the European/U.K. leg of her Eras Tour , and announced that Paramore will provide support throughout the trek.

“Really can’t contain my excitement because… we’re adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour,” Swift wrote on Twitter Wednesday, July 5. “And I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore !! Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”

Last month, Swift added dozens of shows to her Taylor Swift: The Eras stadium tour — bringing the total count of shows to a whooping 104 nights . She also extended her run at Los Angeles’ So-Fi Stadium with a sixth show scheduled for Aug. 7.

The new addition comes after the singer announced shows in Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Europe earlier this week. (See below for the full tour dates.)

“EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋‍♀️,” she wrote on Instagram. “I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates!”

She also added more dates to her already-announced Latin America tour. After wrapping her U.S. dates in Los Angeles on Aug. 9, Swift will head to Mexico City for four straight shows at Foro Sol starting Aug. 24. She’ll then stop in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil in November.

Swift first announced the tour last October after she completely took over the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 with Midnights . The added dates, which follow the addition of eight new shows last week, were slotted in “due to unprecedented demand,” according to the singer’s camp.

“Good Morning America, it’s Taylor,” Swift said during the announcement. “I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time and I’ve been planning for ages, and I finally get to tell you I’m going back on tour. The tour is called the ‘Eras’ tour, and it’s a journey through all of my musical eras of my career.”

The tour began on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona and extends through Aug. 9, where the singer will wrap with a fifth night at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Swift still has stops left in Detroit, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Seattle, and Santa Clara.

Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff Have Reached Their Limit

Pitbull is ready to ‘party after dark’ on north american tour, from vmas drama to 'thank you aimee': a timeline of taylor swift's feud with kim kardashian, kanye west.

Across the tour, Swift is being supported in select cities by a combination of special guests including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

The Eras tour follows the cancelation of her planned 2020 Lover Fest tour, which was originally going to see her make stadium stops in Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, along with Brazil, Denmark, Norway, and Poland. “This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” she wrote in 2021.

Swift last went the road in 2018 for her massive Reputation Stadium Tour , which saw Swift accompanied by the likes of Charli XCX and Camila Cabello across the United States, the United Kingdom, along with Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The tour was the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist that year.

Since her last tour, Swift has released four albums and two re-releases: Lover , Folklore , Evermore , Midnights , and Taylor’s Version editions of Fearless and Red with additional songs. In total, she’s dropped 90 tracks of new material, not including collaborations with the likes of Haim and Big Red Machine.

Fans have long wondered what music she’ll be performing on the road, with some theorizing that she’d host a residency in Las Vegas or a music festival where she’d perform different “eras” on different nights.

Along with packing her setlist with songs from Reputation in 2018, she surprised each city with an acoustic rendition of fan favorites like “Red,” “Holy Ground,” and “Wildest Dreams.” At select shows, she also brought out special guests. Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez, Hayley Kiyoko, and Maren Morris were among the artists to be brought out by Swift.

The stadium tour was accompanied by a concert film released on New Year’s Eve that year.

She previously took her 1989 album on the road for 85 dates, where she was accompanied by the likes of Mendes, James Bay, Vance Joy, and Haim. Before then was The Red Tour in 2013 and 2014, and her Speak Now World Tour from 2011 to 2012.

Taylor Swift is taking The Eras Tour to Latin America, but will she add more international dates?

C hicago, Illinois - There's nothing Taylor Swift loves more than scheming up a master plan that takes Swifties – and the music world – by storm. Shortly after Taylor Nation teased that the Grammy-winning music artist may have some international Eras Tour tricks up her sleeve, Swift pulled a fast one.

Taylor Nation, Swift's official management team, partook in some light trolling on Friday morning, and the clues many Swifties assumed they were dropping have now come to fruition.

Hours before Swift is set to take the stage at Soldier Field in Chicago for The Eras Tour, Taylor Nation posted a photo of Swift in her Reputation era 'fit from the show alongside a tweet that reads: "Where in the world are you screaming 1 2 3 let's go b**ch from right now..."

One hour later, Swift confirmed what many Swifties assumed was happening in the replies by announcing eight Latin America Eras Tour dates, but the Mastermind didn't stop there.

Taylor Swift teases more international dates for The Eras Tour are coming

Not only did Swift announce eight Latin America dates – with three shows in Mexico City, two in Buenos Aires, one in Rio de Janeiro, and two and São Paulo – but she also revealed that Nonsense singer Sabrina Carpenter will be "joining us on all of the shows!"

The Great War songstress also gave international Swifties outside of Latin America something to look forward to.

"LOTS more international dates to come soon, promise," Swift concluded in her surprise tour date tweet.

Given that there's nearly a three-month break between Swift's Eras Tour shows in Mexico and those in Argentina and Brazil, it's possible the 33-year-old may have UK dates in store for September and October.

Swift's The Eras Tour will take over Soldier Field in Chicago Friday-Sunday.

Taylor Announces Latin America Leg Of The Eras Tour

Taylor just announced the Latin America leg of The Eras Tour! The tour will kick off in Mexico City, Mexico and will have a total of 8 shows! Presales begin Tuesday, June 6th at 10 AM!

The Eras Tour is going global. After keeping fans waiting for months, Taylor Swift announced Friday (June 2) that she’s bringing her best-selling show to Latin America with summer and autumn stops in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil, featuring Sabrina Carpenter as her opener. “Really thrilled to tell you this!!” the pop star wrote in a post to her social media accounts. “Mexico, Argentina and Brazil: We are bringing The Eras Tour to you this year!” “@SabrinaAnnLynn will be joining us on all of the shows!” she continued, calling the 24-year-old “Nonsense” musician a “sweet angel princess.” “LOTS more international dates to come soon, promise!” Swift concluded her post by directing fans to her touring website for more information on registering for ticket pre-sales and on-sales. And while the “Anti-Hero” singer’s relationship with Ticketmaster has been strained recently (she slammed the company in November for mishandling high-demand sales for the American Eras Tour dates), Swift’s Latin American tickets will be sold through the ticketing platform. A total of eight Eras Tour dates are currently slated for Swift’s venture to Latin America. Starting Aug. 24, she’ll play three consecutive shows at Mexico City’s Foro Sol. The Grammy winner will then return in November for a pair of shows at Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires, followed by shows at Estádio Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro and Allianz Parque in São Paulo. Echoing Swift’s words, a note at the bottom of a digital flier for the leg reads, “Additional international dates will be announced soon.” See all of Taylor Swift’s Latin America Eras Tour dates below: Source

Taylor Swift has officially announced eight tour dates for Latin America on both Instagram and Twitter on Friday as part of her sold-out Eras Tour to kick off her international trek.

The Grammy-winning star, 33, who was recently seen stopping by Electric Lady Studios in NYC between concert performances , also promised 'LOTS more' international dates to be added 'soon.'

In the caption of the post, the Blank Space hitmaker revealed that she will be making stops in Mexico, Argentina, and also Brazil spread out from August through November of this year.

Fellow singer, Sabrina Carpenter, is slated to be the opening act during the Latin America string. 'We are bringing The Eras Tour to you this year! Sweet angel princess @sabrinacarpenter will be joining us on all of the shows!'

Swift then concluded with, 'Visit taylorswift.com/tour for more information on your registrations, pre-sales and on-sales,' and teased, 'LOTS more international dates to come soon, promise!'

The Eras Tour began a few months earlier in March and is slated to end its American dates on August 9 in Los Angeles. Later that same month, Taylor will head to Mexico City, followed by stops in Argentina and Brazil in November.

The U.S. trek has drawn large crowds and celebrities, such as Miles Teller, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Lawrence, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes.

Along with bringing her performances to other cities across the globe, the blonde beauty has also celebrated the release of her deluxe album, Midnights (Til Dawn Edition), which dropped on Friday, May 26.

A new version of the song, Karma, featuring rapper Ice Spice was added, as well as updated Snow On The Beach which had more Lana Del Rey vocals. A brand new tune was also included on the deluxe LP titled, You're Losing Me.

Much to the surprise of fans, Taylor brought Ice Spice onto the stage to perform Karma together during her New Jersey stop over the weekend. Other guests that have stepped onto the stage included Marcus Mumford and Jack Antonoff.

Along with the Midnights deluxe album, the Love Story songstress revealed last month in May that she will also re-release her 2010 album, Speak Now (Taylor's Version) on July 7.

The updated version contains a total of 22 tracks, which also includes six new songs 'from the vault,' according to People.

On Instagram, she penned at the time of the announcement, 'It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk). I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20.'

She added, 'The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness.'

'I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing … and living to speak about it. With six extra songs I’ve sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) with you...'

Amid her busy schedule, Taylor has recently been romantically linked to The 1975 frontman, Matty Healy.

The two initially sparked romance rumors last month in May, one month after her split from actor, Joe Alwyn, came to light in April, although the former couple reportedly split in February.

The British-born singer was seen supporting the award winner during a few of her concert dates in Nashville, and was also spotted accompanying Swift to the NYC music studio. Taylor has notably already been working on an upcoming album.

Late last month in May, The Sun  reported that Matty is preparing to move in with the Anti-Hero singer, only weeks after their alleged romance heated up.

A source informed the outlet, 'He and Taylor are so loved up and want to spend as much time together as they can. Matty has already told the 1975 team that he’ll be doing all the band demos in America for the foreseeable.'

The insider added, 'He will work on his parts for their collaboration while she is on tour and has scheduled time to attend select shows to gather inspiration for her next album.'

Taylor has also been revealed to be the second richest, self-made woman in the music industry with a net worth of $740 million, reported Forbes  on Thursday, passing both Madonna and Beyonce.

The singer-songwriter has also landed a number 34 spot on America's richest self-made woman list.
