I'm finding very few options for Nuku Hiva shore excursions. I've searched this forum for any reviews of Temarama Tours but found nothing. Does anyone have any experience with this operator?

Yes, we used them this past March....I don't know how to word this to be politically correct so please don't be offended....the operator overbooked his capabilities --- was asking at the tender port for people with pick-up trucks with seating in the bed if they were willing to transport cruisers. Our driver happened to end up being the operator's father, which was fine. Hubby & I needed to be seated inside the truck due to his new knee replacement & my temperamental back so the other occupants rotated thru the truck....the last couple who rode with us started speaking to the driver in French (when the 3 of them did speak English) & he responded in kind which left us out of the loop as to what was being said or described. The scenery was beautiful. If you can, maybe go on Trip Advisor & see if you can find another provider.
Enjoy your cruise!

We did this tour with Richard after arriving onboard the NCL Jewel cruise ship. Nuku Hiva is not an island conducive to swimming and snorkelling given the rocky cliffs and Beaches , so we decided to find a tour of the Island. This is a very small island with limited options, and all those offered by the cruise ship were incredibly expensive. We were fortunate to find Temarama Tour online and booked direct with Richard via email. It is noteworthy that Richards tour covers more of the island than those offered by the ships, and it is literally have the price. Tremendous value for money. Richard met us immediately upon arrival, and after waiting about 30 mins for 4 people that booked who decided not to show up....., we were loaded into a caravan of 4X4 pickups for the tour up and over the Mountains of the island, as we made our way to the north side from our port on the south side of the island. The views are magnificent, with several breathtaking stops along the way, overlooking Valleys , Beaches and vistas, including the Survivor beach. This was a great way to explore the island and an ideal way to spend the day on Nuku Hiva, and we would recommend it to anyone visiting for sure.

Part of a cruise ship tour we stopped here and it is just beautiful. The grounds are very well kept and the Cathedral is gorgeous. Kids playing at the nearby school made it fun. Worth a stop if in the area.

Excellent all day tour in Nuku Hiva with Jocelyne in her air conditioned new van. We traveled to the historical sights as well as the archeological sights. For 8 passengers the cost was $128pp not including a wonderful lunch at Chez Yvonnes. After lunch we fed the leftovers to the blue eyed eels in a stream next to the open air restaurant. Even though Jocelyne speaks English, I has some trouble understanding everything, but I got enough to generally understand. A very informative tour.

This should/could have been an excellent tour, but it was spoilt by disorganisation. Had booked the 4WD full day tour (we're on Oceania Marina). There were 8 of us in 2 vehicles, with the 'guide' driving the first vehicle, w being in the second one. The first vehicle went off at an incredible rate and our driver had real difficulty in keeping up as the ship's tour was in the area. We went up the steep hill from where it is usual to stop to see the views - but our leader just ploughed ahead and our driver couldn't understand why. We eventually made him stop so that we could take pictures and see the stunning views. We all did stop on the way back, but the light was quite poor then. We continued and reached a crossroad. Our driver patently had not been told where to go and our lead car was nowhere to be seen. We took the wrong direction, which worried our driver, who kept trying unsuccessfully to reach our 'leader' (we learnt later that she hadn't taken her phone with her when she left the vehicle, nor had she seemed at all concerned by our absence!). Eventually we had to return and met up with the others. After that we went to the other side of the island for lunch, and returned the same way. And ....... when we stopped on the way back we again had to wait, this time 20 mins, for Colette, who again wasn't answering her phone. When there is a convoy it is essential that all the drivers are able to communicate. We felt really sorry for Daniel, our driver, who seemed to get the blame for things that were totally Colette's fault. Of all the tours we did in Polynesia, this was the least satisfactory, which is a real shame as it is a lovely island

I will never forget this trip! It was a nice way to explore French Polynesia beautiful nature. We discussed the itinerary with the very experted captain Francois. He knows a lot about the Islands , fantastic stories about all the fishes (that I explored myself by snorkeling in the lagoon or coral) and is a very good sailer. It was a comfortable sailing boat that is named Pepikat. There are no words to describe the most colorful sunset that we have seen. Please take me back!

Having heard a buddy had a great fishing trip on Eaio with Xavier, I reached out and managed to have Xavier takes us fishing on Apr 15. He arranged for us a Taipivai Valley excursion which had exhilaring views the day before. We left on schedule at 8:15 Am and started jigging about 2 miles from the harbor using the very best tackle money can buy Stella & Dogfight reels mounted on Carpenter & BlackHole Cape Cod Rods from Kilsong. I had brought some 320/220gm CM-hammered diamonds with 8/0 OTI Raptors. The fishing was fast in 140M depths and confined to a small area. Each drift was assured a hit either at the bottom or in-between. We had 2 small YFT and other big bites where most were lost to cut-offs at the hooks or during the fight. Had hooked twice bottom fish when I added a Berkely Tube to the assist hook only to be taken by sharks. One of which was a White-tip of about 90lbs that was hooked on the side that fought hard and released. The wind came up after lunch and we trolled the way in to the west towards Matatetaiko point taking several small bonito on a small green machine fishing 100' from the cliff. The bigger Yozuri Bonita had no takers. Just before the point we jigged the mouth of a bay and hooked several small blue line snapper and possibly a GT but was busted off when it scrapped the bottom plus was busted by a big bruiser. We hooked and released a first an eagle ray and finished off with a 3 lb Yellow Lip Emperor. Back on the dock before 4 PM about a 45 min run in. I believe we would have had better results had we cut-up a bonito and added strips to the 220gm jigs when jigging the mouth of the bay 9 (35-40M). We tried this and did very well in the dry tortugas off FL. Xavier has all the tackle you need to fish 3 people comfortably and I am sure we would have had excellent results with more experience. There is no take on sharks and they are aggressive on hooked fish. Will need to horse your catch in. Reliable, clean and fair operation.

Moscow Metro
The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.
What is the kremlin in russia?
The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.
And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.
During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.
There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Golden Spike Fountain
The fountain designed and constructed on the grounds of VDNKh in 1950-1954 in the form of a wheatear is covered with mosaic and symbolizes fertility. For many years since the 1990s, the fountain "Golden Spike" did not work due to poor technical condition.

Go beneath the streets on this tour of the spectacular, mind-bending Moscow Metro! Be awed by architecture and spot the Propaganda, then hear soviet stories from a local in the know. Finish it all up above ground, looking up to Stalins skyscrapers, and get the inside scoop on whats gone on behind those walls.
We went with Jocelyne Henua Enana Tours ([email protected]) and paid $67 USD pp as part of a group of 8. She's been a tour guide for 25 years and is very knowledgeable and well-organized. However, she is quite a stern lady and has a heavy French accent. I recommend her as your second choice, the first being Richard of Temarama Tours.
