Fall Out Boy + Bring Me the Horizon Announce 2023 North American Tour

Fall Out Boy are hitting the road with Bring Me the Horizon  this year. The two just announced a set of 2023 North American tour dates together. Alkaline Trio will join them for three of the shows. The package includes several concerts at major stadiums.

Plus, additional bands New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, The Academy Is…, Royal & The Serpent, Games We Play, Daisy Grenade and Carr will provide further support on select dates on the trek.

See the tour dates near the bottom of this post.

Last week, Fall Out Boy  teased the tour with a video showing venues displaying the newly adopted Fall Out Boy proverb,  "If you build it, they will come."  They later  shared an image resembling BMTH's  That's the Spirit album artwork with the caption, "Things are looking overcast on the horizon. Check back tomorrow [Jan. 31] to see if weather conditions improve."

Last month, Fall Out Boy announced So Much (for) Stardust , their forthcoming eighth studio album. It features " Love From the Other Side " and " Heartbreak Feels So Good ," both released in January. Fall Out Boy heavily  teased the album earlier this year.

Two weeks ago, founding Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman revealed that he was taking a break from the band for mental health reasons. Fall Out Boy singer-guitarist Patrick Stump , bassist Pete Wentz and drummer Andy Hurley supported his decision.

"It pains me to make this decision, especially when we are releasing a new album that fills me with great pride," Trohman said  in a statement on Jan. 18.

Meanwhile, Bring Me the Horizon's latest full length,  POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR came out in 2020 and has been succeeded by a number of singles, the most recent being "STraNgeRs."

FALL OUT BOY Announces Summer 2023 U.S. Tour With BRING ME THE HORIZON

Grammy Award -nominated and multi-platinum selling rock band FALL OUT BOY is set to hit the road this summer with their 2023 headline tour "So Much For (Tour) Dust" . The 25-plus-date North American trek will kick off with a show of epic proportions at Chicago's famed Wrigley Field on June 21 before continuing through cities like St. Louis, Dallas, Phoenix, Atlanta, Toronto, and concluding in Camden, New Jersey on August 6.

In addition to Wrigley Field, "So Much For (Tour) Dust" includes three more stadium stops: BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, Forest Hills Stadium in New York and Fenway Park in Boston. Complete routing is available below.

FALL OUT BOY will be joined by BRING ME THE HORIZON on most dates, as well as ALKALINE TRIO , NEW FOUND GLORY , FOUR YEARS STRONG , THE ACADEMY IS… , ROYAL & THE SERPENT , GAMES WE PLAY , DAISY GRENADE and CARR on select shows throughout the tour's run.

Ticket presales for "So Much For (Tour) Dust" go on sale Thursday, February 2 beginning 10 a.m. local time. General tickets will be available for purchase beginning Friday, February 3 at 10 a.m. local time.

"So Much For (Tour) Dust" , presented by Live Nation , is in support of FALL OUT BOY 's forthcoming new album "So Much (For) Stardust" , which arrives March 24, 2023 on Fueled By Ramen / Elektra / DCD2 Records . The record was produced by Neal Avron .

Last Wednesday, FALL OUT BOY returned to their roots for a surprise homecoming show at Chicago's legendary 1,000-capacity Metro — announced only two days prior, the show immediately sold out. Just down the street from Wrigley Field, the band first played the venue in September 2002, a pivotal gig that FALL OUT BOY 's Patrick Stump jokingly called back to for the packed crowd two decades later: "Twenty years ago, I told my mom I was going to take a semester off [college] because we were headlining Metro and I wanted to see how that would work out." FALL OUT BOY 's Pete Wentz expressed the band's enduring relationship with the venue: "Walking up those stairs is the closest thing this band will have to church."

Variety hailed the night as a "triumphant hometown show," noting that "there are concerts, and there are events, and a hometown show in Chicago from [ FALL OUT BOY ] is definitely in the latter category." Over the course of the night, the band ripped through a mix of their biggest hits and deepest cuts, with Illinois Entertainer praising the set as "taking full advantage of both the intimate venue and the loyal hometown crowd to deliver a once-in-a-decade event."

The show also featured the live public debut of both "Love From The Other Side" and "Heartbreak Feels So Good" , two tracks from the new album and the latter of which was released the morning of the show. The Chicago Sun-Times lauded the two tracks, noting the new material "takes all they've learned and accomplished the past 20 years and combines it with their unflinching roots for an ultimate glow-up."

Prior to the show, the city was enveloped with teasing signage across city buildings and stations along the "L." Foreshadowing the impending tour announcement, the marquees at Metro and Wrigley both featured curiously complimentary nods to the 1989 film "Field Of Dreams" .

FALL OUT BOY first hit the stage in 2023 with a dynamic set at iHeartRadio ALTer EGO in Los Angeles, California on January 14, just days after officially revealing the release date for "Love From The Other Side" .

FALL OUT BOY most recently co-headlined "The Hella Mega Tour" in July 2021 alongside GREEN DAY and WEEZER , playing live in front of over one million fans on a sold-out global stadium tour. The U.S. leg included numerous sold-out stadium gigs — including renowned venues like Wrigley Field, Boston's Fenway Park and Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium. Critical and fan acclaim poured in, with USA Today hailing it "the most stacked line-up of any rock tour in 2021," Billboard noting that each night was "serving up a buffet of hits in front of one of the largest concert crowds," and Rolling Stone calling it "wildly entertaining." The tour was nominated for both "Major Tour Of The Year" and "Best Rock Tour" at the Pollstar Awards in 2021. The international leg of the tour took place throughout the summer of 2022.

"So Much (For) Stardust" is FALL OUT BOY 's eighth studio album and first since 2018's "Mania" , which garnered a Grammy nomination for "Best Rock Album" and marked their third consecutive and fourth overall No. 1 album.

Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy announced the dates for their So Much For ( Tour ) Dust North American tour on Tuesday morning (Jan. 31). The 29-city tour in support of their upcoming So Much (For) Stardust album (March 24) is slated to kick off in the band’s home town on June 21 with a gig at the iconic home of the Chicago Cubs: Wrigley Field.

Fall Out Boy Bust Out Live Debut of New Singles at Surprise Hometown Club Show

Trending on billboard.

FOB kicked off the Stardust era in style last week with a surprise homecoming show at Chicago’s 1,100-capacity Metro, just over 20 years after their very first gig at the legendary club, which is just around the corner from Wrigley Field. The Metro show featured the live debut of two Stardust singles, “Love From the Other Side” and “Heartbreak Feels So Good,” as well as the live debut of the band’s current configuration, which, for the first time since their founding, will not feature guitarist Joe Trohman, who recently announce that he was taking an  indefinite mental health hiatus .

In his stead, singer Patrick Stump is pulling double-duty on lead vocals and electric guitar alongside bassist Pete Wentz and drummer Andy Hurley. As was the case during a pair of previous promotional appearances, the group got some  assistance  from longtime guitar tech Ben Young, who played lead guitar from the side of the stage; at press time a spokesperson for the group had not responded to a request about whether Trohman will be back in the fold for the tour.

So far from the new record, the band have shared the singles Love From The Other Side and Heartbreak Feels So Good.

Speaking of the upcoming project, vocalist Patrick Stump says: "Technology has made it really easy to make records much more quickly these days. There’s nothing wrong with that, and that spontaneity can be exciting.

“But we wanted to get back to the way we used to work. We wanted to make a record that was really lovingly crafted and deliberate and patiently guided – like someone cooked you a delicate meal. I’m not a very proud guy, but I’m pretty proud of this record.”

In mid-January, Fall Out Boy announced So Much (for) Stardust , their first album in five years, due out March 24 via Fueled by Ramen and Elektra. Today (January 31), they’ve announced the confusingly named "So Much For (Tour) Dust" tour, a 29-date North American summer run kicking off June 21 at Chicago’s Wrigley Field. British metalcore quintet Bring Me The Horizon will head the tour’s prodigious undercard on all but two of its dates (Alkaline Trio will step in as direct support in Kansas and Colorado). The rest of the bill will comprise a rotating lineup, alternately featuring Royal & The Serpent, Games We Play, Daisy Grenade and Carr. Fall Out Boy will follow the cross-continental trek with a headlining performance at Tokyo’s Summer Sonic festival on August 19.

Check out the "So Much For (Tour) Dust" tour’s official poster and full schedule below.

The members of Fall Out Boy formed in Wilmette, Illinois, the hub of Chicago's extreme punk scene. With the release of their 2005 album "From Under the Cork Tree," which included the top 40 hits "Sugar, We're Goin' Down," and "Dance, Dance," they experienced mainstream success for the first time. This album was certified double platinum, meaning it sold millions of copies.

The band has made significant contributions to music, such as "Infinity on High," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 261,000 copies in 2007 and contained songs like "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" and "Thnks fr the Mmrs," which all became huge hits. The album "Save Rock and Roll," released in 2013, became Fall Out Boy's second consecutive number-one album. It featured the top 20 single "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up). American Beauty/American Psycho, the band's sixth studio album, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, featuring the single "Centuries," which peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100, and the song "Uma Thurman," which peaked at number twenty-two. Their seventh studio album, Mania, released in 2018, also had a number one debut.

The band's extensive discography combined with new material guarantees that this performance will be the highlight of the year. Before the event sells out, you can secure your spot by clicking the "Get Tickets" button on this page.

Rock legends Fall Out Boy brought their headline tour, “So Much For (Tour) Dust,” to NYC’s Forest Hills Stadium on Wednesday evening. The tour is in support of their latest album, So Much (For) Stardust (their first new album in five years), and they brought along fellow rockers Bring Me The Horizon for the ride.

With golden hour upon us, British rock band Bring Me The Horizon took the stage. The five-piece from Sheffield played for an hour with their setlist spanning multiple albums. Drummer Matt Nicholls , keyboardist Jordan Fish , and bassist Matt Kean stood atop a massive riser, looming over guitarist Lee Malia , touring guitarist John Jones , and frontman Oliver Sykes .

The band opened with the new track “AmEN!” followed by “Teardrops” from 2020’s POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR , followed by “Happy Song” from 2015’s That’s The Spirit . On the floor of the 13,000-capacity venue – I was overjoyed to see how many fans came early to scream along with Oli. And despite the glaring sun overhead, the crowd’s energy did not let up as the band moved into “DiE4u,” “MANTRA,” “Shadow Moses,” and “sTraNgeRs” before playing “Drown” while Oli snaked his way through the crowd during the performance.

While I and the fans around me did not want their set to end, BMTH’s set did have to come to a close as they ended with “LoST,” “Can You Feel My Heart,” and “Throne.”

As sunset began to fall, the stage began to take shape for Fall Out Boy’s performance, as a menacing tree, clownish moon, and a clock took over the left of the stage; as well as a giant orb at the top. Originally hailing from Chicago, the four-piece of Patrick Stump on vocals/guitar, Pete Wentz on bass, Joe Trohman on guitar, and Andy Hurley on drums began their show with the drawback of a red velvet curtain, fireworks (yes, fireworks on the stage) and the song “Love From the Other Side” from So Much (For) Stardust . Things got hot as the second track, “The Phoenix,” was all about fire – from fire exploding from the back of the stage to fire erupting from the end of Pete Wentz’s bass. Things slowed down again when the curtain closed for fan-favorite “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” before they launched into “Uma Thurman” and “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More ‘Touch Me.’”

The band’s 24-song setlist spanned their eight studio albums – from their debut album, Take This to Your Grave , with “Chicago Is So Two Years Ago” and “Grand Theft Autumn / Where Is Your Boy” to their fourth album Folie à Deux with “Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes” and “Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet.” 2013’s Save Rock and Roll also got some love with “Just One Yesterday” and “Save Rock and Roll,” while their sophomore album From Under The Cork Tree also got some love with “7 Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen)” and “Dance, Dance.”

Gym Class Heroes vocalist Travie McCoy made a special guest appearance, as Fall Out Boy covered Gym Class Heroes tracks “Stereo Hearts” and “Cupid’s Chokehold,” which got the crowd singing along with both Patrick and Travie.

Toward the end of the show, Pete had a talk with a Magic 8 Ball in the sky (the aforementioned orb at the top of the stage) to determine what songs the band played next – prompting them to launch into “I Am My Own Muse” and “27” before telling the crowd “this is normally when we leave and then come back for an encore.” The four-piece skipped the walking off stage part entirely, and instead launched into their four-song encore of “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up),” “Thnks fr th Mmrs,” Centuries,” and “Saturday” during which streamers erupted, and confetti fell over the crowd.

Fall Out Boy, Bring Me The Horizon, Royal and The Serpent & Daisy Grenade at Shoreline Amphitheatre

As one of the biggest bands in alternative rock, Fall Out Boy are proud and stoked to be touring again. Their 2023 ‘So Much For (Tour) Dust’ is set to be an epic fete of dates with music from their soon-to-be-released album, as well as some of their history-making, fan-favourite material. ‘So Much (for) Stardust’ is FOB’s 8th studio release and is already available for pre-order. With the announcement of the album the band also released their first single, ‘Love From The Other Side’, in January, giving a teaser of good things to come. Supporting FOB on their tour for every concert is the British rock group, Bring Me The Horizon, and singer/songwriter, Royal and The Serpent. Both have released fresh material in 2022, with Bring Me The Horizon’s second ‘Post Human’ release having hit tracks, such as ‘Strangers’, and Royal & The Serpent having success with their 4th EP, ‘Happiness Is An Inside Job’. Finishing the line-up for one of their limited performances in the tour is Daisy Grenade, a newer duo on the alternative scene, but still packing a punky punch with their music. It will be an awesome evening full of great music and attitude, so make sure you’re there for FOB’s 2023 ‘So Much For (Tour) Dust’.

Fall Out Boy fans convinced band are going to tour with Bring Me The Horizon

It comes after Fall Out Boy's cryptic tweet earlier this evening

BMTH Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy fans are convinced that the band are going on tour with Bring Me The Horizon .

  • READ MORE:  Patrick Stump on Fall Out Boy’s ‘So Much (For) Stardust’: “It’s not a throwback record”

It comes after Fall Out Boy tweeted a cryptic tweet in which the band posted a picture of an umbrella, which fans think is a reference to Bring Me The Horizon’s album, ‘That’s The Spirit’.

The accompanying, mysterious tweet also mentioned “horizon”. It read: “Things are looking overcast on the horizon. Check back tomorrow to see if weather conditions improve.”

You can see the tweet here:

Fans on social media were quick to respond to the tweet, with many convinced that news of a joint tour with the two bands could be announced tomorrow (January 31).

“I cannot believe Fall Out Boy is touring with Bring Me The Horizon in the year 2023,” one fan wrote while another wrote: “I swear if BMTH is the opener I will literally cry.”

The news comes after Fall Out Boy began sending seashells to fans as part of their new album teaser campaign, including to Bring Me The Horizon’s  Oli Sykes earlier this month.

The band have recently been ramping up their cryptic campaign with  newspaper adverts ,  postcards  and  claymation videos .

In the stunt, the pop-punk group delivered seashells to fans’ homes, with Sykes sharing a photo of the one he received on his Instagram story. “Wtf what is this & why is it at my house,” he asked in the caption.

The photo showed a pink and white shell with “1 of 13” written in its middle. It was accompanied by a letter written on headed paper that read “A Homeboy’s Life” and bore the message: “Love from the otherwise.”

At the bottom of the note, which was dated January 19, 2023, it listed the initials of the four Fall Out Boy members alongside the band name.

Last week (January 25), Fall Out Boy also shared a new track called ‘Heartbreak Feels So Good’.

The song will appear on the Chicago band’s eighth studio album  ‘So Much (For) Stardust’ , which is due to arrive on March 24 ( pre-order/pre-save here ).

Following on from lead single  ‘Love From The Other Side’ , Fall Out Boy’s upbeat latest offering sees frontman Patrick Stump sing: “ We could cry a little/ Cry a lot/ But don’t stop dancing/ Don’t dare stop .

We’ll cry later or cry now/ You know it’s heartbreak/ We could dance our tears away/ Emancipate ourselves/ We’ll cry later or cry now but baby/ Heartbreak feels so good .”

The single arrives with a Whitey McConnaughy-directed video for which FOB “decided to film a prank” that “did not go go as planned”. In the clip, we see the band attempt to stage a kidnap of  Weezer  frontman Rivers Cuomo.

Fall Out Boy, Bring Me The Horizon, Royal and The Serpent & Carr at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater

Considered one of the best contemporary rock bands, Fall Out Boy is one of those bands that stood the test of time. From their humble beginnings in the early 2000s, the Patrick Stump-led band has produced songs that have become a part of American pop culture. Thanks to their catchy poprock tunes, the band was able to gain commercial success and cement its name in the music industry. Apart from winning awards and being nominated in several award-giving bodies, such as Alternative Press Music Awards, the Grammy's, and MTV Music Awards, the Illinois native rock band continued to cement its relevance over the years by continually reinventing their sound, giving fans a wide array of albums that showed their top-notch musicality, songwriting skills, and creativity as a band.

This 2023, Fall Out Boy has released singles that will be part of their upcoming album "So Much (for) Stardust." Fans were quick to notice that the songs "Love From The Other Side" and "Heartbreak Feels So Good" sound like old FOB songs from their earlier album, which is a pleasant surprise for most die-hard fans. The album will be released on March 24 this year.

In conjunction with the album release, the band also announced that they will be embarking on an extensive tour starting this summer. The band will start touring in June to promote their album. Alkaline Trio, Bring Me the Horizon, New Found Glory, the Academy Is…, Royal & the Serpent, Daisy Grenade, Carr, Games We Play, and Four Year Strong will be supporting Fall Out Boy on some dates.

On July 22, the band will be performing at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater. They will be joined by the rock band Bring Me The Horizon. Known for songs like "Can You Feel My Heart," "Diamonds Aren't Forever," "Drown," "Throne," and "It Never Ends," Bring Me The Horizon is an English rock band that has continued to rise to the pantheon of rock bands with their tasteful grinding death metal music. The show will be opened by singer-songwriter Royal and The Serpent and Carr.

‘Megalopolis’ Review: Francis Ford Coppola’s Bold, Ungainly Epic Crams in Half a Dozen Stars and Decades’ Worth of Ideas

Back in Cannes 45 years after 'Apocalypse Now' won the Palme d'Or, the legendary director constructs a deeply personal, high-concept allegory on his relationship to art.

Megalopolis

Popular on Variety

In some corners of the real world (such as China and Saudi Arabia), leaders have sought to create forward-thinking “smart cities” from scratch. But that’s not how thriving metropolises typically come to exist. Instead, they’re built up and burned down, then they’re rebuilt and improved in fits and starts, dragged into modernity — not without outrage and criticism — by visionary urban developers like Robert Moses (New York) and Georges-Eugène Haussmann (Paris). Men like Cesar Catilina, the fictional city planner single-handedly trying to drag New Rome into the future, whom Driver plays with the wild-eyed, monomaniacal intensity of Howard Roark (the speechifying architect in Ayn Rand’s “The Fountainhead”).

Like such slow-to-evolve population centers, “Megalopolis” is positively awe-inspiring in some places and an absolute eyesore in others, until you pull back and try to take it all in. Only then can you see the unwieldy way old and new concepts crowd next to another, like an art deco skyscraper squeezed between a cathedral and a Starbucks. The film opens with Catilina stepping off an upper ledge of the Chrysler Building, at which point he commands time to stop. And it does. There, hovering 70-odd stories above the streets of New Rome, he takes a page not from Plutarch (who documented the Catilinarian conspiracy that loosely inspired Coppola), but from the Wachowskis. This time-freezing “Matrix” move — which immediately follows a Laurence Fishburne-narrated scene-setter — suggests something far more fantastical than what follows.

“Megalopolis” is not so much a sci-fi movie, as some have reported, as it is a sexless “Caligula,” transposed to New Rome. As photographed by Mihai Malaimare Jr., this sleek neo-noir/neo-classical city looks like modern-day Manhattan, except that men sport bowl cuts and women wear see-through robes. Their toga-like garments are made either of gauze or an innovative, all-purpose building material called Megalon, discovered by Catilina and central to his scheme to revamp the city. In this, he is opposed by “slumlord”-turned-mayor Franklyn Cicero (Esposito). The two first have it out at a high-concept press conference, where most of the film’s key figures — including Jon Voight as obscenely rich oligarch Hamilton Crassus III and Plaza as manipulative TV personality Wow Platinum — navigate catwalks dangling amid a scale model of the city. Franklyn plans to erect a casino, whereas Catilina wants to create “a perfect school-city for its people, able to grow along with it.”

Cicero isn’t happy that his daughter has taken Catilina’s side in the redevelopment scheme. And he’s even more annoyed when Julia falls in love with his adversary, whom ex-DA Cicero once prosecuted over the death of his wife, still unsolved. That subplot introduces an element of ambiguity to Catilina’s otherwise heroic-seeming character. As the film goes on, it feels that Coppola has projected himself onto both Cicero (whose first name, Franklyn, stems from “Francis”) and Catilina (the artist-architect whose ambitions recall the director’s costly Zoetrope Studios folly “One From the Heart”). Family matters to the former, as it clearly does to Coppola, while atoning for infidelity and his “bad boy” ways is part of Catilina’s journey. Their power struggle pales compared to HBO’s brilliant “Succession,” though the film digs into what makes such time-stoppers tick. “When we ask these questions, when we have a dialogue about them, that basically is utopia,” says Catilina.

At times, Coppola injects bawdy and outrageous moments into his “fable,” which keeps the often-sentimental tale from becoming too self-important. Plaza and LaBeouf bring a satirical edge to their scenes, which recalls a previous Cannes debacle, “Southland Tales,” in which Richard Kelly cast comic actors and outside-the-box celebrities (like Dwayne Johnson and Justin Timberlake) to heighten the absurdity. By contrast, most of Coppola’s ensemble is composed of “serious” actors, which lends everything a stilted, almost theatrical quality, while angst-meister Driver taps into those deep wells of internal torment he brought to the “Star Wars” movies. When Catilina steps out onto a giant clock face floating high above New Rome, fuming about the obstacles in his way, he looks not unlike the sulky Kylo Ren.

And yet, apart from Megalon (which sounds suspiciously like James Cameron’s laughable “Unobtanium”), the sci-fi elements here aren’t so far from reality. At one point, characters refer to a Soviet satellite dumping radioactive debris on the city, and though Coppola depicts such a shower, no further mention is made of the disaster. Perhaps the budget didn’t allow for it, which may also explain why no screentime is dedicated to the construction of Catilina’s elaborate urban development project — though it certainly seems like Coppola spared no expense. Consider the wedding scene, so different from the one that opens “The Godfather.” This one transforms Madison Square Garden into a decadent Roman arena, swinging between “Ben-Hur”-style chariot races and a Taylor Swift-sounding original song from Grace VanderWaal, “My Pledge.”
