cheap golf trips to ireland

The re are reasons you aren’t playing golf in Ireland right now—vanished vacation time, your daughter’s college orientation, your aversion to extraordinary hospitality and golf of the purest and most dramatic variety. But if it’s money that is keeping you from the land of green and golf and Guinness, you are officially out of excuses.

“People think of an Irish golf vacation as something that the investment banker or surgeon at their club does once in a lifetime. That may have been the case years ago, but things have changed,” says Tom Casey of Old Sod Travel. With airfares reaching new lows, the Euro (and in Northern Ireland the post-Brexit pound) sagging in comparison to the dollar, and aggressive deals from clubs eager for visitors after the country’s economic downturn, golf trips to Ireland are more budget-friendly than they’ve ever been. Add a little local knowledge and you can’t afford not to make your dream golf trip to Ireland a reality, and very affordably. Here are 10 tips for swinging through Ireland on a budget.

1 : Don’t fear the flight. And don’t delay. Airfares are the biggest budget-saver right now. A new terminal at Dublin Airport and plans for a second runway mean more flights than ever between Ireland and North America, with the competition leading to lower rates. Aer Lingus and Norwegian Air both offer new crossings, and WOW Air is selling wow fares through Iceland for less than $400 round trip.

2 : Stray from the bucket list. Top-100 list courses like Ballybunion, Tralee, Royal County Down, and Lahinch are all worth the hefty price tags, but they are but a small slice of Ireland’s golf magic. Off the beaten tourist path, you will find golf rounds for much less than at the bragging-rights clubs: Courses like Dooks, Strandhill, Ardglass, Laytown & Bettystown, and Ceann Sibeal. If you do splurge for Ballybunion, Lahinch, County Down, or Portrush, get the most bang for your buck by playing their worthy sister courses, often offered at half the price of the marquee tracks. Wandering north from Ireland’s popular but pricey southwest will also see values rise, and will take you to the simpler, quirkier, more soulful Ireland of your imagination, where when you ask an old man reading the newspaper for directions, as my friend did in County Mayo, you’d think you’ve walked into a scene from The Quiet Man .

“Excuse me, sir. How do you get to Ballina?” my friend asked.

The man looked up from his paper, thought about it for a moment, and replied, “My brother drives me every Saturday.”

3 : Nine is fine. Americans tend to discount nine-hole courses as inferior, but that isn’t the case in places like Castlegregory in Dingle, where for $38 you can go twice around its hearty nine-hole layout, carving shots through hulking dunes on a course squeezed between a lough and the ocean. Spanish Point near Lahinch has some joyfully quirky holes; the Bann nine-holer at Castlerock in the North is a knockout; and Cruit Island in Donegal remains one of my favorite golf experiences on the planet—for $20, you’ll finish and try to pay them more.

4 : Be competitive. Listed on course websites as “fixtures” or “opens,” club tournaments charge green fees well below their normal rates. You’ll need to prove your handicap, and check if a tournament requires you to be a member of a GUI (Golfing Union of Ireland) club or not. Also, search club calendars for “open days,” when visitors are welcomed at reduced prices.

Bargain Ireland - Enniscrone

5 : Make it a challenge. Challenges and multi-course packages are the best value in Irish golf. Challenges are multi-day, multi-course tournaments played on set dates, while passes/packages can be used at any time. The brochure at North & West Coast Links  contains a list of challenges, with some of the best:

The Atlantic Coast Challenge (July): Carne, Rosses Point, and Enniscrone for $155. Save over $200 on the cost of booking each individually, and play the absolute best of Ireland’s west.

Donegal Links Classic (May): Ballyliffin, Portsalon, and Rosapenna for $140. Save $170 and play the destination links of Ireland’s unspoiled northwest.

The Down Summer Links Trophy (August): Ardglass, Spa, and Royal County Down for $265. For less than the price of one round at Royal County Down, add enjoyable Spa and stunning Ardglass to your itinerary.

In Ireland’s southwest, the Kerry Link Golf Pass and Shamrock Pass will get you on courses like Dooks, Ceann Sibeal (Dingle), Castlegregory, Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, and Ring of Kerry at steep discounts. Information on golf passes throughout the country is available via Tourism Ireland .

6 : Bundle up. Playing where you stay makes cheap golf simple. In Donegal, the Rosapenna Hotel and Golf Resort offers luxury and three-night, three-round packages for $360. The new, four-star Diamond Coast Hotel in Enniscrone will organize a five-day, four-night package with golf a t Carne, Enniscrone, and Rosses Point for less than $500. Don’t forget that breakfast is always included.

7 : If you can’t afford them, join them. If you’re planning to spend time in one area, joining a club as an international member can be a money-saver. Distance memberships at courses like Ardglass ($360) and Carne ($275) will not only allow you to go around each track until you drop, but as members of the North & West Coast Links, you receive a 50 percent discount at all their associate clubs, including Connemara, Enniscrone, Donegal, Rosapenna, Ballyliffin, Castlerock, Portstewart, and home of the 2019 Open, Royal Portrush. Membership also comes with a GUI card that will score you discounts and tournament entries around Ireland.

8 : Golf knows no off-season. Traveling in April and October means reduced green fees almost everywhere, and as the North Atlantic current keeps the climate moderate year round (temperatures range from brisk to slightly-less-brisk), it’s worth rolling the dice on low-season tee times. Trying to time the weather in Ireland is a fool’s errand: You can get all four seasons on a July day just as easily as an October one, but you’ll pay a lot less for the latter.

9 : Don’t discount the tour operator. You may think the only way to save money on your itinerary is to cut out the middleman, but tour operators have access to discounts that you don’t. Go to an operator with your budget and give him a chance to design a trip for you. It’s worth an email to Celtic Golf , Old Sod Travel , Perry Golf , or North and West Coast Links .

10 : Travel like a veteran. A few small things I do to save money:

-Use a credit card without international fees (American Airlines has a good one).

-Change my cellular plan to an international one before leaving (Sprint’s Global Roaming is shockingly cheap).

-Never exchange money (ATM’s get you the best rate).

-Load up on the hearty and free breakfast—with chowder and brown bread for dinner (ubiquitous and always good), I can stay full for $10 a day. Alas, there are no discounts on Guinness, but a few pints of the black stuff can easily replace a meal.

-Get a Horizon card in one of the pro shops to track my souvenir shopping, and at trip’s end it’s easy to get the refund of all my VAT (Value-added Tax, which is 23 percent) at an airport kiosk.

-Pack a lot of golf balls (they are pricey in Irish pro shops).

-Travel light. I wear rain pants as my regular pants every day (even if it’s dry, they are good in the wind) and don’t pack too many shirts and sweaters as I always buy a few. Souvenirs come in as balls go out, keeping my travel golf bag under the weight limit.

Sample Itineraries:

Bargain Ireland - Killeen House

Play: Dooks, Ring of Kerry, Ceann Sibeal, Castlegregory, Ballybunion Cashen, Lahinch Castle, Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, Spanish Point Stay: Killeen House (Killarney), Sika Lodge (Killarney), Shelburne Lodge (Kenmare), Bambury’s Guest House (Dingle), Greenmount House (Dingle) Golf & lodging cost: $800–$1,000, seven days, six nights.

The Southwest is the corner of Ireland that budget-conscious golfers avoid, but by using the Kerry Link and Shamrock passes you can play great golf for fair money, saving you enough to sprinkle in a visit to Ballybunion’s Old Course or Tralee.

Bargain Ireland - Carne

Play: Enniscrone, Carne, Rosses Point, Strandhill, Westport, Connemara Stay: Diamond Coast Hotel (Enniscrone), Foyles Hotel (Clifden), Mount Falcon Estate (Ballina) Golf & lodging cost: Using the Atlantic Coast Challenge or hotel packages, $650–$800, seven days, six nights.

You can’t put a price on Carne, a course I consider tops in all of Ireland. For $40, Strandhill’s wavy ride might be the most underpriced in Ireland. And a stay at Mount Falcon is the rare chance to reside in one of the best hotels in Ireland on a budget—their deluxe cottages can fit six at a cost of $60 per person  at a world-class estate.

Play: Donegal (Murvagh), Lough Erne, Ballyliffin, Rosapenna, Portsalon, Cruit Island, Narin & Portnoo Stay: Rosapenna Hotel & Golf Resort, Donegal Manor (Donegal Town), Ballyliffin Lodge Golf & lodging cost: Using the Lough Erne Challenge and Rosapenna Hotel discounts, $600–$800, seven days, six nights.

Vast and picturesque, Donegal in Ireland’s northwest is a budget golfer’s dream—even without playing a challenge, you will feel the joy and savings of hotels and golf courses eager to welcome you. Rosapenna and Ballyliffin both boast two tracks, each must-plays, with bundle or twilight rates for your second round.

Bargain Ireland - Ardglass

Play: Ardglass, Castlerock (Mussenden and Bann, 27 holes), Portstewart, Ballyliffin, Royal Portrush, Royal County Down Annesley Links Stay: Ballyliffin Lodge, Strand House (Portstewart), Carriage House (Dundrum) Golf & lodging cost: Using the Great North Links Challenge, $850–$1,000, seven days, six nights.

You lose a little value traveling into Northern Ireland and moving from Euro to Pound Sterling, but by playing in a challenge like the Great North Links (Portrush, Portstewart, and Ballyliffin for $235 in October), you can play an Open venue for an unbeatable rate.

Play: St. Anne’s Links, Laytown & Bettystown, Portmarnock Links Stay: Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links Golf & lodging cost: $600, five days, four nights.

If you are spending time in Dublin, you’re likely there for more than golf, but a package offered by the Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links allows you to stay in four-star accommodations and sample some new and old Irish links between visits to the Guinness factory and the Book of Kells.

Dublin and East Ireland Golf Vacation Packages

Dublin, the capital city of the Republic of Ireland, is a cosmopolitan, bustling city, which literally buzzes with energy and excitement. However, the great thing about Dublin is that if you fancy something quieter, half an hour’s drive outside the city centre will take you to mountain walks, stately homes and gardens and fishing villages. The city is a great center for culture and you’ll be spoiled for choice with all the fine museums, art galleries and theatres. Dublin is also home to a great literary tradition: its native sons include Shaw, Yeats, Wilde and Beckett. You can’t talk about  Dublin without mentioning the architecture; walking around the city you’ll see everything from medieval and Georgian architecture to more modern buildings. If you are looking for a gastronomic experience, Dublin boasts a vast array of restaurants serving haute cuisine to traditional pub grub menus.

You can visit the Yeats building and also visit his grave at Drumcliff churchyard. There are over 100 heritage and cultural sites of significance in the region and these sites cover many diverse aspects of Ireland’s heritage and culture. Your next golf trip to Ireland: Why you should consider these 15 hidden gems

cheap golf trips to ireland

We’re hearing you better act quick if you plan to travel overseas. Many of the most popular destinations for international travelers are booking up for 2022—and some even for 2023. Golf in Ireland is back after restrictions limited travel for much of the past two years.

Though you likely have courses like Ballybunion Old (No. 17 on Golf Digest’s most recent World 100 ranking) and Royal County Down in Northern Ireland (No. 1 on ours and most World 100 lists) in your sights, we’re here to point you to some hidden gems worth trying to get to. Perhaps these courses will have more availability in the next year or two … even more reason to head there.

With help from our friends at Golfbreaks by PGA TOUR , they helped us identify these hidden gems in Ireland.

Dublin/East :

Mixing some sightseeing and golf in and around Dublin is a trip we don’t need to sell you on. It’s a trip any golfer needs to do once in their life. And if you’re planning to do it in the next year or two, we’re here to help.

County Louth, Baltray, Co. Louth

Couty Louth GC #14

Laurence C Lambrecht

Other Irish gems get more fanfare, but it’s possible County Louth (above) is the best course in Ireland you don’t know about. Ranked in the top 100 of Golf Digest’s “Best Courses Outside the United States” in years past, County Louth ranked sixth in our most recent Best in Ireland list . Tom Simpson worked on an existing layout back in 1938 to create the fabulous links you can play today. Shane Lowry won the Irish Open as an amateur here back in 2009.

Royal Dublin Golf Club

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2022/5/golfbreaks-ireland/royal-dublin-10th-hole.jpg

Harry S. Colt repaired and revamped Dublin’s oldest course after the grounds served as a musket training site during World War I. Martin Hawtree did some work to the gentle, mostly flat but rolling land in the early 2000s.

Portmarnock Hotel & G. Links

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2022/5/golfbreaks-ireland/Portmarnock_11A.jpg

Located on the original Jameson estate, the Portmarnock Hotel & G. Links is a relatively new, Bernard Langer-designed resort layout that sits on the Irish Sea. It ranked 13th on Golf Digest’s most recent Best in Ireland rankings.

For trip planning purposes, these courses are all proper to pair with the above:

Portmarnock (Old)

The European Club

South West Ireland

One of Ireland’s most naturally beautiful regions is the South West, with its rugged outcroppings and rolling topography. That makes the golf in the area so, so good—and though many of the courses are on your radar already, we’re here to tell you about a few others.

Dooks Golf Club

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2022/5/golfbreaks-ireland/Dooks 5.jpg

"STEVE CARR GOLF"

A stunning, rolling piece of natural dunesland can be found at Dooks Golf Club, 35 minutes from Killarney. The club was founded in 1889, making it one of the country’s oldest—but Martin Hawtree came in and renovated the course in 2006, securing it as being a must-add to your trip to the area.

Dingle Golf Links

Locals refer to it as Ceann Sibeal as the links sits right on the end of the Dingle Peninsula with incredible views of Dingle Bay and the mountainous Blasket Islands. You’ll have to drive a little out of your way to get to Dingle Golf Links, but you’ll find an open, links layout that feels like it’s been around for hundreds of years—though it was only built in the 1970s.

Like we said, the golf in this region needs no introduction. Trips to Killarney, Shannon and Cork should all include:

Ballybunion

Adare Manor

North West Ireland

Perhaps Ireland’s most underrated region for golf, the Emerald Isle’s dramatic northwest coast is home to numerous hidden gems that stand up with the country’s best.

Enniscrone Golf Club

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2022/5/golfbreaks-ireland/additions/Enniscrone Sunset 1-8.jpg

Enniscrone boasts 27 links holes perched on a peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way. Towering dunes line many holes and create a stunning setting on the aptly named Dunes course, which features dramatic undulations and scenic vistas.

Carne Golf Links

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2022/5/golfbreaks-ireland/additions/CarneMay2018-101.jpg

Hardly any land was moved in creating Carne, resulting in tees and greens nestled among the dramatic sand-covered dunes that resemble the lunar landscape. A third nine was built in 2013 on the most dramatic part of the property and is incorporated into the original design on every second day.

Donegal Golf Club

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2022/5/golfbreaks-ireland/additions/DonegalSept2017-9.jpg

Situated on the tip of Murvagh peninsula, Donegal draws comparisons to Muirfield for its distinctive layout that runs in two large loops. Unlike many courses along Ireland’s rugged northwest coast, Donegal is relatively flat and presents subtle undulations and strategic bunkering.

County Sligo Golf Club

The 27 holes at County Sligo offer intriguing variety with dramatic elevation changes, forced carries and meandering burns. Several elevated tees provide scenic panoramic vistas of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding mountains.

Narin & Portnoo Golf Links

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2022/5/golfbreaks-ireland/additions/New 14th Green, 15th Hole & 16th Tee.JPG

Gil Hanse and his design partner Jim Wagner recently renovated this rustic layout, bringing to life the natural features that make this seaside links compelling. The revitalized Narin & Portnoo offers a blend of tight doglegs and generous fairways, with soaring dunes, raised greens and natural bunkering present throughout.

Rosapenna Golf Resort

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2022/5/golfbreaks-ireland/additions/St Patrick's Links - Hole 2 - 1 - August 11, 2020.jpg

Three hidden gems await at Rosapenna , located in the very north of Ireland, including the Old Tom Morris Links (designed by its namesake in 1893) and the Tom Doak-designed St. Patrick’s Links, which opened in 2021.

Ballyliffin Golf Club

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2022/5/golfbreaks-ireland/additions/Balliliffin May 2019 HR-61.jpg

Ballyliffin is Ireland’s northernmost golf club and, with two championship links courses, is widely regarded as the country’s finest 36-hole facility. The Glashedy Links , the younger (and longer) of the two courses, hosted the 2018 Irish Open, won by Scotland’s Russell Knox.

Strandhill Golf Club

Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and Knocknarea Mountain with views of both, Strandhill plays just 6,350 yards from the tips but challenges golfers with imposing dunes and intriguing green complexes.

Northern Ireland

Anytime Golf Digest does a survey of bucket-list destinations, Northern Ireland is near the top of the list. And for good reason: The stunning visuals and topography (in addition to other sights to see, ala touring the Game of Thrones sites) create dramatic golf that competes with the best in the world.

In fact, the actual best course in the world, Royal County Down , can be found here. Though it’s private, travelers can inquire about getting on— click here for more information.

Of course, you must also attempt to play Royal Portrush ’s Dunluce course , which was eighth in our latest World 100 Greatest rankings, and hosted the 2019 Open Championship after the game’s oldest championship returned to Northern Ireland for the first time in 68 years. Don’t forget the Valley course as well.

Here are the other courses we’d build around:

Castlerock Golf Club (below), ranked fourth on Golf Digest’s most recent Best in Northern Ireland rankings , was altered by Harry Colt in the 1920s, cementing its places among the best links courses in the land.

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2022/5/golfbreaks-ireland/Castlerock 2019 LR-7.jpg

Ardglass Golf Club is just down the road from Royal County Down, making it the perfect complementary loop. The back nine is splendid, all along the water with some dramatic topography. Take a breeze through the clubhouse, believed to be the oldest in the world, with part of the building dating back to 1405.

Portstewart would not make any ‘hidden gems’ list among avid architecture fans, but it can get lost in the shuffle with the amazing golf in Ireland. Ranked on Golf Digest’s most recent World 100 rankings, the Strand course .

We’ll let Golf Digest equipment editor Mike Stachura, as avid of a travel/design buff as you’ll find, describe the setting: “The first tee at the Strand is set on high dunes, like you’re surveying the kingdom, with beach and waves down to your right and all of County Antrim in front. It’s no wonder the television series 'Game of Thrones' has used the nearby land as scene-stealers.”

Thus why Northern Ireland sits at the top of nearly every traveling golfer’s bucket list.

Come to the country known appropriately as “The Emerald Isle”. World renowned for its ancient cathedrals, ecclesiastical abbey’s, striking castles and historic golf courses. Although championship golf has enjoyed popularity since the late 1800’s, the game was played in a more informal setting for the past two centuries. Challenge such respected and demanding golf courses such as Royal Portrush (Host of a British Open), Royal County Down, Ballybunion, Lahinch, Old Head and Portmarnock. Play other world class championship courses such as Waterville, The European, Doonbeg, County Louth (Baltray) and Tralee. The historic landmarks and beautiful coastline are also world-renowned. Gaze at the splendor of the Donegal, Athenry, Desmond and Ross Castles dating back to the 12th Century. Tour the Sligo Abbey and Ardfert Cathedral erected in 1250AD. Visit the Ceide Fields, the most extensive Stone Age monument in the world and thought to be erected in 3000BC. View the steep cliffs and stunning southern Ireland coastline known as the “Ring of Kerry”, or quaint seaside towns that capture history from a bygone era. Whether one is achieving the golf vacation of a lifetime, or exploring the roots of Christianity, Ireland is a beautiful country that offers many historical sites and cultural flair.

Eamonn/Sarah,   Thanks for organizing our group of 8 for a golfing memory of a lifetime!  Each one of the 7 courses we played in SW Ireland were stunning and surpassed our expectations.  Thank you Sarah for the excellent hotels in the perfect location and for knowing the hotel staff would put out a fantastic Irish breakfast at 5:00am for those early morning tee times. Your attention to detail was second to none!  A special bonus of getting us Pat as a driver who shared his extensive knowledge of Ireland as we traveled through your beautiful country along with his quick Irish wit!   It's a trip we will all never forget!   Slainte,   Jim Holihan NY (USA) September 2023
Good morning Eamonn,   Greg and I can't thank you enough for organizing and overseeing our fantastic trip to your wonderful country.   It was truly great from start to finish. Our driver Tommy took good care of us.  We all had quite a few laughs together. We thoroughly enjoyed the golf courses, even though we could have done with one Irish weather experience - I may be the only guy ever to say that ! Thanks again for everything.  I will surely recommend you and hope that I can make a return trip in the near future.  Stay well and Slainte, Eamonn. Jim and Greg  NJ, USA September 2023
Hi Elaine, Thank you so much for the wonderful vacation that you arranged for our family.  The accommodations at the three hotels were fantastic.  Adare Manor is truly magical.  The guys thoroughly enjoyed their golf adventures.  The sunshine for their last round at Adare was the perfect ending. Nigel was terrific!  Not only did he drive us everywhere we needed to go, but he was an expert at by-passing the entrance lines and getting us right in to any attraction.  We could not have had a better host.  Please pass along our thanks again.  The other drivers were all great as well. It was not an easy task to accommodate three generations, golfers and non-golfers, but you succeeded well.  We look forward to our Scotland adventure next summer! Best regards,   Bill, Sandi and family,   July 2023
Elaine - Our group had an outstanding time in Ireland and much of that has to do with your fantastic planning and organization.  We all had high expectations for this trip and those lofty expectations were exceeded. Ireland is a beautiful country and the people are so welcoming.  The hotel accommodations were excellent and the overall itinerary was perfect.  All of us were very impressed with how smooth everything went .. from hotel check in, golf reservations, driver pickups etc.  Absolutely no glitches anywhere on the trip.  The golf was an unforgettable experience.  All the courses were top notch and exactly what we were hoping to experience in Ireland.  Finally, our driver Con.  He made the trip.  Con is such a warm, friendly gentlemen with a wonderful personality.  We loved hearing him talk about his beloved country and share his knowledge on social and political climate in Ireland.   S Barker USA June 2023
Elaine, Thank you for putting together an amazing 8 day trip for our gang of golfing misfits. You did an incredible job of coordinating the arrival/departure and other random requests from the guys in compiling a world class itinerary. The accommodations, courses and meal suggestions were all terrific. We were blessed by amazing weather which turned our great trip into an epic one. Special shout out to our driver Con who did an incredible job of cat herding, all the while entertaining, the boys with history lessons and amusing anecdotes. We would not hesitate to recommend you both to anyone seeking the golf trip of a lifetime. Cheers Greg. Greg Swart, California, May 23
Michael:   Thanks so much. The trip was perfect. Seriously, I can hardly imagine it being better. Thank you so much again for your assistance. I had a great time.    All the best, Michael R. USA May 2023
Elaine…..Almost home for a week now but still glowing over the experience.  Everyone had a great time and gave me all the credit.  I did inform them that though I spent much more time working on this adventure than I ever thought I would, it was you who made it work so well.  Tim was also just terrific.  He was extremely easy to work with and kept us informed of the schedule of pick-ups and drop offs so that all went very smoothly.  We had a smattering of rain one day at Dooks and played in a windstorm at Waterville but all else was good.   Thanks again, Steve Angel USA - May 2023

Phil & Robyn Gleadhill. (Australia)

Hi Elaine, We truly couldn't have asked for better. Everything went so well. We were so blessed with the weather. We only needed our wet weather gear for about 3 holes at Enniscrone, and for most of our final round at Ardglass. All the rest of the golf was dry and mostly sunny, and not overly windy either. Our sightseeing days were similarly blessed, and we packed a lot of things in, including some significant walks and hikes as well as some of the attractions you suggested. The accommodation was all very good and varied so every stay was a little different.  The included breakfasts were a real winner.  We covered about 3,500 KM all up. Quite a drive. Highly recommended and a first-class job done - thank you! Regards,

Phil & Robyn Gleadhill. (Australia)

Dear Elaine, We wanted to thank all those involved at Golf Vacations Ireland for organizing our recent trip. It was a 2.5 year wait and well worth it. The accommodations, restaurants , driver and most importantly the golf were all wonderful! We were glad to have 2.5 years more of practice so we were not totally embarrassed on those amazing golf courses. Surely we gave the caddies lots of stories to tell to their peers. Thank you for sticking with us over the pandemic and for all your assistance and accommodations made during that time. We hope we will be back and will definitely be referring you to our friends and family! Thanks again and take care,

Susan and Brian (USA)

Eamonn- We had a fantastic time on our trip. One very interesting day of weather at Waterville, but overall it was just an absolutely awesome trip. Finishing on royal county down was a great way to end the trip. Thank you for helping to arrange everything. Otherwise, I just wanted to say thank you, and we will plan on using you again if we are lucky enough to make a trip back in the future.

Eamonn/Elaine, I just wanted to drop a note to tell you what a great time we had. After 2 years or so we were finally able to get to Ireland to play some great golf courses. The people were friendly, the courses were magnificent, the pubs were warm, the Guinness was cold and plentiful, and even the weather was perfect. Even with all of this it still does not compare to how great Donal was. He was knowledgeable, kind, and very accommodating. He took great care of us and we in turn took great care of him. I would highly recommend him for any type of group you may host in the future. I will be sure to leave a five-star recommendation for golf vacations Ireland as well. Thank you for your patience.

Hi Eamonn and Elaine, We just returned to the States tonight from our magnificent trip to Ireland. We had a fantastic time. All the arrangements went smoothly and worked perfectly. The hotels were great, the golf courses were incredible. Sean did a great job driving and being the tour guide. And we were particularly impressed with how you both arranged such perfect weather for us. Seriously, the trip was just fantastic and the planning that you both did for us was great. We particularly enjoyed the Merrion Hotel in Dublin and the Killarney Park Hotels. And the trip to the Cliffs of Moher on the 1st day worked out very well. The Kilmainham Gaol tour was very enlightening and very well worth it. We also really liked the Jameson tour. Thank you again for planning such a great tour!

Eamonn/Elaine, Thanks again for all your help on planning our trip, and for sticking with us the past three years. It took some time, but I can say categorically that this was my best trip ever to Ireland/Scotland - and I’ve done it 9 times. It was a great itinerary, great courses and great hotels. Thanks again for everything John

Ireland Golf Tour: How much will it cost?

So you’ve always wanted to do that “bucket list” Ireland Golf Tour but are unsure what the price for an Ireland golf tour would be?  It brings to mind the old ‘how long is a piece of string’ question, but Real Irish Golf will help you budget the main elements and get you to an overall estimate.  At the end of this Blog, we will outline specific pricing for our 2018 tours to Ireland’s primary golf regions..

Green Fees:

Price for an Ireland golf tour, Northern Ireland Golf vacation Day 2 in Portrush

Unfortunately, green fees in Ireland have seen a significant rise in the last two years in tune with a strongly recovering economy and increased tourist numbers. For 2018, we are seeing increases of up to 20% for peak time green fess. A few examples on the very top end courses:

  • Ballybunion – The Old Course: green fee of €210 / $245 for 2018.
  • Royal County Down: green fee of £230 / $310 for 2018.
  • Waterville: green fee of €210 / $245.
  • Portmarnock Championship Course: green fee of €250 / $285

‘Skinted’ versus ‘Minted’?

Fortunately, there are some great rates still to be had if you are willing to stray slightly off the more beaten track. For example, Dooks Golf Club has rates around the $120 mark, or alternatively head to the Northwest and play cracking links courses such as Carne, Ballyliffin and Enniscrone for less than half the rates noted above.

Come in the so-called “low season” which is usually considered to be October through March where green fees are generally significantly reduced. The savings on green fees will easily pay for that brand new rain-proof wet suit! Also consider the  oddly named “ shoulder season “ , generally considered to be April and October, during which some/not all courses offer reduced rates. April and October are pretty good times to come and the weather generally holds up.

Accommodation:

price for an Ireland golf tour, Irish castle hotel, Ashford castle golf

Generally hotel rates in Ireland have been on an upward curve over the past few years, but there is still good value to be had in some of the main golf traveler bases, such as Killarney. For example, the cost of a standard double room inclusive of breakfast in Killarney for July 2018 is averaging about $175.  There is also great value to be had at local Guest Houses (generally smaller and older hotels), and often times, golf tourists in Ireland prefer the more local and cosier feeling of this type of accommodation.

Flights from the US:

price for an Ireland golf tour

Very importantly also, new carriers such as Norwegian and WOW air have entered this market and are offering great deals. So let’s get specific and look at direct flights from some key destinations using June 2018:

  • New York – Dublin round-trip: Norwegian offering direct fares of $400; can’t beat that with a stick!
  • Chicago – Dublin round-trip: Aer Lingus offereing direct fares of $600.
  • LA – Dublin round-trip: again Aer Lingus  with best deal at about $700 direct.
  • Dallas – Dublin round-trip: WOW air offering flights from $500 (one stop).

Transportation:

price for an Ireland golf tour

Continuing with June 218 as our example, budget approx. $700 for a nice Automatic “people-carrier”; this will cater for up to 4 golfers so about $150 per golfer.

Hiring a driver is obviously the more expensive option but also brings lots of added advantages. You can travel stress-free,  sit back and admire the beautiful Irish countryside as you are transported to Ireland’s best golf courses. No worries on the alcohol-front so down those frothy pints of Guinness to your heart’s content. And of course, your driver will be local the area and a fountain of knowledge on the region, from the sightseeing spots, best restaurants and ones to avoid, to the best pubs and nightlife.  How much will all that cost? Assume about $500 a day to hire a driver; can work for parties of 4+; the leveraging effect we believe it is called!

Food and Drink

But give us the Net Net …

“Not a bother” as we say over here. Here are fixed price for Real Irish Golf’s 2018 Ireland golf tours. This price covers all of your green fees for 6 rounds of golf, 7 nights accommodation (assumes sharing) w/breakfast for your stay and transportation (assumes self-drive). Click on links below to learn more about these great tours.

  • South West Ireland Golf Tour : $2,700.
  • East Coast / Dublin Golf Tour : $2,790.
  • West Coast Atlantic Way Golf Tour : $2,300
  • Northern Ireland Golf Tour : $2,800.

15 Fantastic and Easy Day Trips From Moscow

Is the hustle and bustle of Moscow starting to wear you down? No worries. There are multiple great day trips from Moscow that will let you see a different side of Russia that you won’t find in the metropolitan area. Each day trip I’ve listed below can easily be done by train from Moscow, and there are trains every day of the week.

The area surrounding Moscow is rich in cultural attractions and natural beauty. By traveling only a short distance, one feels far away from the crowds, and lines of the sprawling Russian capital. Since Russia is undoubtedly an expansive country it may take from half an hour to two hours to reach some of the landmarks on this list (by train or car) from the Moscow city center.

You can escape to the picturesque Russian countryside, visit war memorials, battlefields, admire onion-domed churches, and get insight into the local way of life. Easy day trips from Moscow include the incomparable white-stone Trinity Cathedral in Sergiyev Posad, the spectacular Cathedral of the Assumption in Dmitrov, and the Russian military aircraft in Monino. For those who love rural tranquility, Suzdal and Vladimir are a must-see. History buffs will appreciate the Patriotic War of 1812 reenactment that took place in Borodino on the first weekend of September.

Without further ado, here are 15 best day trips from Moscow that are well worth your attention.

easy day trips from Moscow

The Best Day Trips from Moscow

There’s a reason Moscow is one of Europe’s most enigmatic destinations. It’s got culture, class, food, history, and more, but even better, is that it is the country’s main transport hub with so many attractions within a day trip from Moscow. While you can definitely spend days or even weeks in Moscow, it can, of course, be done in just one week. What can you do in Moscow in seven days ? Well, you can do a lot if you know how to plan a trip to a place you know so little about.

If you’re ready to get out of the city a bit and soak up the culture, fresh air, and enchanting architecture, I’ve rounded up my favorite day trips outside of Moscow. I often get asked: What are the best cities to visit in Russia? And these are places that I’ve been and loved.

My Favorite Easy Day Trips from Moscow:

Dmitrov Kolomna Zvenigorod Sergiyev Posad Yaroslavl Arkhangelskoye Estate Vladimir Suzdal Korolev Borodino Patriot Park in Kubinka Melikhovo Gorki Leninskie Kaluga Monino

1. Day Trip to Dmitrov from Moscow

Dmitrov may not be as popular as other cities in Russia, but the fact that the city was founded only 7 years earlier than Moscow makes for a great day trip. This small city some 90 kilometers from Moscow is particularly beautiful in the summer. As you walk the streets you can see sparkling fountains, charming centuries-old buildings, yachts and boats transiting through the canal and, of course, the Museum-Reserve Dmitrov Kremlin.

The Kremlin (castle) is the city’s main draw. The 10m high and about 1km long earthen rampart remained behind the wooden wall and gives an idea of how the castle looked like 400 years ago. The oldest surviving building on the Kremlin grounds is the 16th-century Assumption Cathedral with a unique five-tier iconostasis.

places to visit near moscow by train

Not far from the Kremlin there is a compact 15th-century Borisoglebsky convent. Its main building – the 16th-century Cathedral of Sts. Boris and Gleb is open to the visitors only for services of worship. In the 1930s in the convent housed a labor camp, which contained the builders of the Canal named after Moscow.

Getting There: Dmitrov sits an easy hour and sixteen minutes by train from Savyelovskiy Rail Terminal. This cheap day trip from Moscow is a great chance to soak up the historic charm to be found in Moscow Oblast.

2. Day Trip to Kolomna from Moscow

Situated to the south-east of Moscow, Kolomna is a beautiful port city on the Oka River. This is one of the oldest Russian cities in the region. So you can discover the old history in museums and monasteries. Interestingly, the city was a site for important weapon factories under the Soviet Union. Although it was opened up in 1994 Kolomna is not as popular as other day-trip destinations in the region.

Nevertheless, it is a great place to visit with friends and family where you can explore the 15th-century Kremlin made of red brick, try incredibly sweet traditional pastila (marshmallow), and visit some of the cute little churches and 19th-century mansions.

Getting There: Take the express train (commuter line train) from the Kazansky rail terminal to Golutvin station. The trip lasts one hour and forty minutes.

3. Day Trip to Zvenigorod from Moscow

This one is usually a given due to its proximity to and ease of transport from Moscow. It’s one of the easiest day trips from Moscow by train. You can easily hop on the train from the city and land right in the town of Zvenigorod where you can visit the 14th-century Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and sample the sparkly and refreshing kvass, a Russian specialty beverage that’s enjoyed in the summer months.

Zvenigorod is an adorable little town just under an hour away from the Moscow city and is an amazing place to visit as it will give a relaxing break from the hectic life of Moscow. Check this day trip if you don’t feel like planning.

If you have a sweet tooth, spend some time in the quirky Museum of Russian Desserts, where you can indulge in uniquely delicious treats and explore the intersection of food and culture.

Then you may want to pay the Zvenigorod Museum of History, Architecture, and Art a visit. The museum’s exposition is located on the territory of the Savvino-Storozhevsky monastery, or rather, in the 17th-century Tsaritsyny chambers, built for the wife of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. Stroll through the museum halls to view the permanent exhibitions, which offer insights into various aspects of Russian history. The intricate museum’s building is adorned with a decorative porch, complex patterned elements, and looks very impressive in general.

4. Day Trip to Sergiyev Posad from Moscow

If you’re looking for cheap day trips from Moscow, Sergiyev Posad is a good choice at just a few dollar train ride away. Known as a major center of pilgrimage and home to one of the largest Russian Orthodox Monastery which has been here for hundreds of years, Sergiyev Posad is a fun day trip from Moscow and can be combined with Abramtsevo Museum Estate. As the only town in Moscow Region which is included in the Golden Ring of Russian cities, Sergiyev Posad is an incredible destination for a day trip from Moscow that packs UNESCO-protected Trinity Sergius Lavra, great museums, and gorgeous architecture into one day.

Make sure you see the six-pillared Assumption Cathedral that was commissioned by Ivan the Terrible in mid-16th-century and go inside to marvel at the impressive iconostasis that features Simon Ushakov’s masterpiece, the icon of Last Supper. Enjoy a delicious lamb steak with wheat kasha, Ukha fish soup, or hand-made dumplings as you learn a lot about religious and cultural history.

Getting There: Known for its small-town charm and welcoming feel, you can get to Sergiyev Posad by train, by bus, or by car. Trains depart from Yaroslavsky Rail Terminal every thirty minutes, and the trip lasts about an hour and a half. Alternatively, you can hop on a bus at the ‘VDNKh’ metro station. A bus trip to Sergiyev Posad takes two hours on average but can be reached in 90 minutes depending on traffic. If you go by car expect to spend about an hour and a half attempting to traverse the congested Yaroslavskoye highway.

5. Day Trip to Yaroslavl from Moscow

Going from Moscow to Yaroslavl may seem like a really long day trip, but honestly, if you take the comfortable train, it only takes about four hours to reach the city, so making a Yaroslavl day trip is totally doable. Although I do recommend much more than one day in Yaroslavl, especially if it’s your first time.

Cultural tourists visiting Yaroslavl should start their exploration by strolling the historic city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A spacious 100-hectare area enclosed by Sobinova and Republican streets is home to most popular attractions – the 17th-century Church of Elijah the Prophet that survived almost exactly in its original form, and in contrast to it, the white stone Assumption Cathedral, restored in the 2000s.

golden ring russia

If you walk a bit further passing the Holy Trinity sculpture and city’s foundation stone, you will find yourself at Strelka, a park on the cape, which offers panoramic views of the spot at the confluence of Volga and Kotorosl rivers. On the way back, there is a pleasant walk along the picturesque Volga embankment to the Governor’s Garden with shadowy alleys and an open-air Sculpture museum.

Getting There: Yaroslavl is about 280 km (173 miles) northeast of Moscow, so the best way to get there is to take a morning train from Yaroslavskiy Rail Terminal. A tour is also a great way to see the Yaroslavl without having to worry about driving or searching for trains. You can book a tour here.

6. Day Trip to Arkhangelskoye Estate from Moscow

Situated on the outskirts of Moscow and dates back to the late 18th-century, Arkhangelskoye Estate was the domain of the nobility for over a century until the Russian Revolution swept people who owned the estate out of the country. The estate was turned into a museum, which it remains today.

cities close to moscow worth visiting

The Arkhangelskoye Estate Museum holds the largest rare-book collection. The exhibition also includes old manuscripts, historical documents, photos from the past, a vast collection of sculpture, paintings, engravings, and exceptional examples of decorative art. These art objects once belonged to Prince Nikolai Yusupov, the former owner of the estate.

train trips from moscow

Arkhangelskoye Estate is often referred to as the Russian version of Versailles because of the intricately manicured garden and beautiful 18th-century park. Famous Russian writers and poets such as Pushkin, Herzen, Mayakovsky loved to spend their free time here making long excursions in the surrounding area. Arkhangelskoye is a perfect place to appreciate the terraces decorated by delightful statues, exquisite vases, and busts.

Visitors can take tours, which introduce them to vibrant examples of Russian art and culture.

Getting There: To reach the estate it’s best to take a bus or a privately-owned minibus that departs from Tushinskaya metro station.

7. Day Trip to Vladimir from Moscow

Situated only two hours east of Moscow, Vladimir is absolutely one of the best places to visit near Moscow for a day trip. This splendid city dates back to the 12th century and has a very rich history. If magnificent Orthodox cathedrals and traditional white-stone architecture entice you, then this place is perfect for a day trip with your significant other.

First things first, you need to see the Golden Gate, which indicates the entrance into the old town. This 12th-century medieval masterpiece of military architecture is associated not only with Vladimir but with the Golden Ring tourist route itself. At the top of the gate, where once was the Church of the Deposition of the Robe, there is the Museum of Weapons. Great looking arrowheads and spear points date back to the Grand Principality of Vladimir, while the exhibition in an impressively majestic setting features a number of Batu-Khan related artifacts.

There’s a variety of attractions to put on your must-see list: the Old Believers Trinity Church right behind it, the Cathedral of St Demetrius, and Dormition (Uspensky) Cathedral. If you plan on shopping for souvenirs like birch-bark masterpieces of Kunov’s masters, drawings, carving, embossing, figures of people and animals, stop by the Lacquer Miniature, the Museum of Crystal, and the Gingerbread Museum. Many of the local attractions were added to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites.

Getting There: The best way to visit this area is to catch an early train from Moscow and book a full-day tour of Vladimir in advance. This one includes the town of Suzdal as well.

8. Day Trip to Suzdal from Moscow

This gem of a little medieval town perched on a hill just a 30-minute ride from Vladimir is one of those places I’ve visited and could move there permanently and be happy! It’s a charming little piece of history that also has a Kremlin and visiting it feels like stepping back in time. if you’re a culture enthusiast you’ll be glad to know there are numerous churches, five monasteries, including Spaso-Yevfimiev Monastery in Suzdal. Check them out if you want to get a real taste of the country!

cheap day trips from moscow

pend some time shopping at the Torgovaya ploshchad (Market Square), where you can buy baskets made of birch bark, ceramic handmade plates, honey or souvenirs and, of course, grab some afternoon tea!

Getting There: Trains leave regularly from Moscow’s Kurskiy Rail Terminal to Vladimir where you can hop on a bus to Suzdal. You can also take a bus from Moscow. In this case, it might take longer and you’ll probably encounter infamous traffic jams. If you go by express train the trip takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. There are slower trains of course, but I’d recommend going with the fast one and save a lot of time!

9. Day Trip to Korolev from Moscow

Located some 30 kilometers northeast of Moscow, Korolev has become arguably the most important space research center with skilled workers from across the Soviet Union who came here to expand the space program.

It became a leading institute dedicated to aerospace research in the country. Today, that tendency can still be clearly seen on the streets and in the buildings. When the Soviet Union collapsed, the city retained its status as the headquarters of Russia’s space surveillance network and now it hosts the Russian Mission Control Center, an analogue of the American Mission Control Center at NASA’s Space Center in Houston.

If you want to learn more about Mission Control Center and the former Russian Mir space station, book a tour with a knowledgeable guide who can clearly tell the history of this place.

If you’re not into space exploration there is also a Memorial Apartment Museum of Marina Tsvetaeva in Bolshevo. With a picturesque park next to the museum, it’s a great place for walking in the fresh air. The highlight of the park is memorial stones with quotes from Tsvetaeva’s poems.

Getting There: I’d recommend going by train. Catch one at Yaroslavskiy Rail Terminal that departs every 30 minutes to reach Bolshevo station.

10. Day Trip to Borodino from Moscow

The historic Battle of Borodino on September 7, 1812, took place just outside the small village of Borodino, about 140 km west of Moscow, and about 15 km from the nearest town of Mozhaysk. Although the French won the Battle of Borodino and went to capture Moscow, it was one of the bloodiest battles of the pre-twentieth-century that is also predetermined Napoleon’s defeat.

While it was a battlefield back then, not much remains today. It’s mostly a green and grassy field now with a few monuments of military honor, architectural objects dated back to 19th and 20th century, and fortification facilities scattered throughout the area. The largest of these is the 27-meter high obelisk located right at the heart of the former battlefield.

Every year the military and patriotic festival and theatrical performance take place in Borodino. Early September is considered to be the best for visiting. But if you just want to feel the spirit of the battle, it’s better to go at any other time of the year.

Getting there: Hop on a train from the Belorussky rail terminal, disembark in Mozhaysk, and then take a bus to the museum. The whole travel time is about 2 hours.

11. Day Trip to Patriot Park in Kubinka from Moscow

Once a Red Army tank training ground, now it’s a military Disneyland with history, structure, guns, and armored vehicles! The tank museum originally housed one of the world’s largest and rarest collections of tanks. In 2016 they combined the training grounds with the newly-created Patriot Park. Since then, some of the notable and rare items have been moved to the Patriot Park site, so you may want to combine both sites into one tour (only about 20 minutes apart).

best places to travel from moscow

The exhibition grounds include some very rare specimens that are must-see for any military enthusiasts out there. The staff is friendly, helpful and kind, while the museum has a small shop. As this site is part of an operating military base, they may ask you to show your passport, or provide them with a photocopy of the front pages. There are vending machines for snacks and drinks, and there are bathroom facilities. There’s plenty to see, so I recommend setting aside an entire day!

Getting there: Situated halfway between Borodino and Moscow, the best way to reach Patriot Park in Kubinka is by car. Alternatively, if you don’t want to rent one, consider car-sharing apps like Gett or UBER. The price of ride-sharing services is cheap enough to make them a viable proposition for choosing them.

12. Day Trip to Melikhovo from Moscow

Located some 80 km from Moscow, Melikhovo is one of the most important museums dedicated to Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. This renowned Russian writer and playwright acquired Melikhovo in 1892. He lived there with his parents and close relatives for 7 years before moving to the Crimea in 1899. Melikhovo is where he wrote his plays “The Man in the Case” and “The Seagull”.

The estate faded into oblivion right after the Revolution but in 1939 Anton Chekhov’s sister Maria and his nephew established a museum based on Chekhov’s place of living. The museum opened its doors to the public in 1941.

Today museum’s exhibition reveals the legacy of a celebrated writer and shows his path not only as a writer but as a doctor and public figure as well. The collection also features some of the best-known paintings by famous artists like Isaac Levitan and Vasily Polenov, who were Chekhov’s friends. When it comes to fun and educational day trips from Moscow, Melikhovo is a nice place for learning more about Chekov’s life and work.

Getting There: You can reach Melikhovo by train from Kurskiy rail Terminal. Disembark in the town of Chekhov and hop on a minibus that will get to the estate. Alternatively, hop on a bus that departs from the Yuzhnaya metro station.

13. Day Trip to Gorki Leninskie from Moscow

Once the realm of Russian nobles, Gorki Leninskie was turned into Lenin’s museum some 25 years after his death. The estate sits some 30-minute bus ride from the Domodedovskaya metro station and houses Soviet-era memorabilia and Lenin’s memorial flat recently transferred from the Kremlin, as well as his vintage Rolls-Royce.

Most people only associate this place with the name of the first communist leader. In fact, the name of the estate was first mentioned in documents dating back to the 16th-century. Throughout its history, the estate was owned by a number of prominent figures. It’s in fact one of the best museums that holds the country’s finest collection 19th-century furnishings and a unique collection of domestic items owned by nobles. Plus, ancient Vyatichi native tribe or East Slavs who inhabited a part of the Oka basin’s burial mounds and a few notable sculptures are hidden behind the avenues of lime trees in the park.

Getting There: You could, of course, hop on a bus from Domodedovskaya metro station. But it would be much easier just to use UBER or Gett. The estate isn’t that far from the Moscow Circle Road but going there by bus may involve some navigating.

14. Day Trip to Kaluga from Moscow

If you’re looking for an educational day trip from Moscow, look no farther than Kaluga! This beautiful city could really entertain you for more than just a day, but to get a taste of science, be sure to visit the Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics. Or in other words, the Space Museum.

Visitors to the museum will learn more about the history of space exploration. In fact, this is one of the largest Space Museums in Russia, which opened its doors in Kaluga in 1967. Here you can see a prototype of the iconic MIR space station and a duplicate of the Voskhod rocket. The very same rocket that took the first man to space. There’s also a planetarium, which from the outside resembles a spaceship.

Kaluga is a totally walkable city. Make sure to spend some time strolling Teatralnaya street with the authentic 19th-century pavement that now marks the Kilometer Zero. Then walk across the 18th-century Kamenniy Most (the Stone Bridge) that somewhat resembles a Roman aqueduct. If you’re an architecture buff marvel at the Church of St. Cosmas and Damian.

It is assumed that the church was erected by one of the followers of Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli in 1794. The church resembles the Smolny Convent in St. Petersburg. With five church towers directed upward and six tiers of oblong windows give the exterior a sense of lightness and airiness.

Getting There: Trains from Kiyevsky Rail Terminal to Kaluga leave every 90 minutes. The trip takes about 2 hours and 35 minutes.

15. Day Trip to Monino from Moscow

Are you looking for great family & kid-friendly day trips from Moscow? If so, consider visiting the Central Museum of the Air Forces at Monino. This unique military open-air museum is home to over 180 Russian aircraft and 100 aircraft engines and the perfect place to go when your crowd is looking for a break from hectic city life. Check this tour if you don’t feel like planning.

things to do outside of moscow

This site was formerly an operational airbase from 1932 till 1956 and many of the Russian aviation Design bureaus have made a contribution to the operation and maintenance of the museum. Along with aircraft from the Second World War, there are the TU-95 Bear four-engine turboprop-powered strategic bomber and the TU-144 Charger a Soviet supersonic passenger airliner (which resembled the Concorde). The museum also has exhibits related to military aviation history such as the uniform of captured U2 pilot Gary Powers.

Getting There: This museum is located at Monino Town, about 30 km from Moscow. It is open on all days from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except Mondays and Tuesdays. To get there take a train departing from Yaroslavskiy Rail Terminal and disembark at Monino station. Alternatively, hop on a bus from Schelkovskaya or Partizanskaya metro station.
