Frozen the musical’s richard frame, tells us what makes his spring, spectacular.
He may share a dressing room with Olaf ( Craig Gallivan ), but Richard Frame , who plays the Duke of Weselton doesn’t share the snowman’s (ill-advised) love of summer, spring is more his thing! “Who doesn't like a good spring clean?’
We expect his character, the Duke, would be more than happy to pass off this chore to one of his servants! However, this is just one, of the many ways, in which he’s different to the nobleman. Unlike his character, Frame doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty. In fact, he was twenty feet up in the air painting a chimney stack when he found out he got the part in Frozen the Musical .
We sat down with Frame to chat about sea views, sunny BBQs, and what makes his spring, spectacular.

Evening performances of shows in the West End usually start at 19:30, with doors opening at theatres from 18:30 onward. There can be some variations on this, so it is best to check your ticket for earlier or later start times.
London and West End shows vary on length, depending whether it is a play or musical, or if it has an interval. Standard running time can be from 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes, so it is best to check the information on running times for the specific show you have booked.
Intervals are usually between 15 and 20 minutes.
Views are different depending on where you sit in a London theatre. The Stalls are usually on the ground floor, and offer the best, closest views of the stage.
The Dress Circle or Royal Circle is usually the middle level, or top level in smaller theatres, and gives you a top-down view of the stage, which is great for musicals and big dance numbers. Boxes are usually located at Dress Circle height.
The Grand Circle is typically the highest tier in the theatre, but you can usually access seats at great prices. Be aware that legroom may be limited in these sections.
Most London theatres will allow one small bag to place under your seat. You will be advised not to bring large bags to venues, but each theatre will have its own policy. If you are planning on bringing more than a rucksack or handbag, it is best to check with the theatre you are visiting.
London’s West End is located in central London, west of the City of London and generally makes up the areas around Leicester Square and Covent Garden. There are over 39 theatres in the West End, located on various streets across the city.
The most famous street is Shaftesbury Avenue, with the Apollo Theatre, Lyric Theatre, Gielgud Theatre, Sondheim Theatre, home to Les Misérables , and Magic Mike Live’s Hippodrome Casino Theatre all on one street, with the Piccadilly Theatre and Criterion Theatre nearby at Piccadilly Circus.
In Covent Garden is the Duke of York’s Theatre, Noël Coward Theatre, Gillian Lynne Theatre, the Lyceum Theatre, which is home to Disney’s The Lion King , plus TINA’s Aldwych Theatre and the Novello Theatre with MAMMA MIA! . Further theatres include the London Coliseum, Fortune Theatre, Duchess Theatre, Trafalgar Theatre, and the West End’s oldest theatre, the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, which houses Disney’s Frozen The Musical until September 2024. Matilda The Musical also plays at Cambridge Theatre in Seven Dials.
In Leicester Square you can find the Prince of Wales Theatre, home to The Book of Mormon , the Garrick Theatre, the Arts Theatre, Wyndham’s Theatre, St Martin’s Theatre, the Ambassadors Theatre and Palace Theatre, hosting Harry Potter and the Cursed Child .
There are also multiple theatres on The Strand, which is close by to Charing Cross and Embankment. SIX The Musical plays at the Vaudeville Theatre, with the Adelphi Theatre and Savoy Theatre nearby. The Playhouse Theatre, currently The Kit Kat Club , is located on Embankment.
Further afield you can find Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre and Hamilton at Victoria Palace Theatre, near to Victoria Station, and The London Palladium on Argyll Street, close to Oxford Circus. Haymarket features The Phantom of the Opera’s His Majesty’s Theatre, plus Theatre Royal Haymarket and the Harold Pinter Theatre.
More theatre just outside of the West End include the Barbican Theatre at Barbican, the National Theatre and The Old Vic near Waterloo, plus Phoenix Theatre, Prince Edward Theatre, Dominion Theatre, Shaftesbury Theatre and @sohoplace near Soho and Tottenham Court Road. The Bridge Theatre is located at London Bridge.
Most London theatres offer disabled and access-friendly facilities. All access bookings must be made directly with the theatre.

Brrrr! Frozen the musical is back on sale and opening in August
Snow cones all round! With the release of the first cast pictures, today tickets have gone back on sale for the West End run of Disney ’s forthcoming musical behemoth, Frozen the musical. The show will begin previews on August 27 at the newly refurbished Theatre Royal Drury Lane with opening night on September 8. It’s currently booking to April 3, 2022, with several access performances - signed performance (Sunday December 5, 1pm matinee), relaxed (Sunday December 19, 12.30pm matinee), audio described (Sunday January 23, 2022, 1pm matinee) and captioned (Sunday January 30, 2022 at 5.30pm)
Samantha Barks and Stephanie McKeon will play Elsa and Anna, the royal sisters at the centre of the story, and will be joined by Obioma Ugoala (who originated the role of George Washington in the London production of Hamilton) as Kristoff, Craig Gallivan as the snowman Olaf, Oliver Ormson as Hans, Richard Frame as Weselton, and - alternating the pivotal role of Sven the reindeer - Mikayla Jade and Ashley Birchall.
Frozen ’s music and lyrics are by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and the production’s book is written by the original Academy Award-winning 2013 film’s screenwriter and co-director, Jennifer Lee, which Michael Grandage will be on directing duties.
The refurbishment of the grade I listed theatre, which was run by the playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan in the early 19th century, has taken over two years and cost roughly £60m, including the cost of a number of specially-commissioned new artworks by the young artist Maria Kreyn. “Sheridan went bankrupt, and I’m not convinced I won’t,” the theatre’s owner, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, told an interviewer earlier this month. After all that money and effort, he wants to make sure everyone sees it too - Disney will not be allowed to plaster it with their advertising.

Meet the West End cast of 'Frozen', including Samantha Barks
Find out more about the Frozen London cast and see Frozen at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
It’s coronation day for the West End cast of Frozen ! Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen , the Disney Frozen musical tells the story of Elsa, a queen with the power to turn everything she touches to ice. Growing up, Elsa fears her abilities, so she wears gloves to curtail her powers. As she’s coronated and touches the sceptre, she turns Arendelle to ice and runs away in fear.
There’s only one person who can reach out to Elsa — her sister Anna. With the help of explorer Kristoff and his reindeer Sven, the helpful trio go out in search of Anna. But can they bring her back? Will the storm rage on?
Frozen opened up the West End gates at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2021. There’s iconic roles like Elsa, Anna, and Prince Hans, as well as the adorable snowman, Olaf. Find out more about the Frozen West End cast and book your trip to Arendelle today.
