Graco Modes Click Connect Travel System {Review}

' src=

We recently had a chance to test drive the new Modes Click Connect Travel System  from Graco. This Graco Travel System includes a Graco Modes stroller and Graco SnugRide Infant Car Seat featuring Graco’s new “Click Connect” technology. The Modes Click Connect Travel System is ideal for families looking for one stroller to grow with their baby from infant to toddler.

The Graco Modes stroller offers 10 riding options and the versatility of three strollers in one, car seat carrier, infant stroller and toddler stroller.

I like that you get the car seat, stay in-car adjustable base and stroller all in one package. No need to look for a separate stroller or car seat adapters for different strollers.

The SnugRide Click Connect 35 is a top-rated car seat that attaches directly to the stroller frame and it is easy to install. When attaching the car seat to the stroller baby can face you or the world, I like that you are able to choose. This car seat has been design for infants 4- 35lbs. and up to 32″.

The base of the car seat can be secured to the seat of your vehicle using the two clips provided and your vehicle’s tether bar. The instructions for installation were easy to follow and lifting the car seat in and out of the base was no problem.

Our Video: The Graco Modes Click Connect Travel System

The Graco Modes stroller was very easy to assemble and there were no tools required. It took about 15 minutes to put together and the instructions were clear and easy to follow.

Graco Modes Travel System

Folding/Unfolding and M aneuverability

This stroller is extremely light weight and it’s easy to fold and unfold. It is also easy to move around and I was able to fold it up with one hand.

The stroller fits well in the trunk, although it does take up most of the space in a small vehicle and half of the space in a SUV.  I also found the stroller was not too heavy to lift in and out of the trunk of my car.

The stroller is very easy to manoeuvre as well and switching the stroller’s seat around and taking it off the frame is a breeze. I love that you can take the toddler seat off and have only the infant seat attached so it’s super light.

I do recommend using this stroller in the city and paved roads only, it has plastic wheels and o.k. suspension so using it off road could make for a bumpy and uncomfortable ride.

stroller seating

The seat of the stroller is reversible and has four-position reclining. It can also be fully reclined to be used as a bassinet enclosure for younger babies. Once the rear backrest is in a full recline position you can adjust the stroller per instructions to ensure safe occupant retention installation.

The seat also features 5 point safety harness to keep little ones safe while riding.

The stroller’s seat is padded and it has a large canopy to shield little ones from the sun/rain. It also has a handy removable cup/snack holder and arm rest.

The seat is removable as well and the frame can be used on its own with the car seat only, such a treat! No need to carry the seat when you don’t need it.

Graco Modes Travel System

This stroller has a large basket in the bottom that can be easily accessed from the back and the front of the stroller. The ample and easy to access storage space is definitively great for carrying your diaper bag, shopping bags, toys and more. You also get a handy parent’s tray with  two cup holders and storage underneath the handle/push bar.

Final Thoughts

Overall we really enjoyed testing the Graco Modes Click Connect Travel System.  This is an ideal travel system for families looking to purchase one piece of equipment from infancy until toddlerhood, it is also durable and made to last. I definitively recommend this stroller if you are looking for a versatile all-in-one travel system.

Looks like a fab stroller!

Wonderful review!

Perfect for first time parents.

I am a fan of Graco products and if I had to purchase a stroller again I would go for something like this. You get the car seat and basically everythin you need right away.

Looking to purchase a stroller and really considering this one, thanks for the great review. The fact that I can use it without the seat and take the frame and car seat only makes it very appealing!

Graco Modes Sport Click Connect Travel System ($429.99)

May 30, 2014

graco modes click connect travel system 2014

Disclosure: I received a free travel system from Graco in exchange for coverage on my blog.  Any opinion expressed in this article is based on my experience with the product and is not influenced by compensation.

We couldn’t wait to share this one with you all.  We are pleased to see that Graco has taken on a more European design approach with their newest Modes Sport Click Connect Travel System .  For years we’ve seen competing stroller brands come out with more simplistic and sleek looking strollers which seems to be the trend in the celeb world as well as the “real mommy world.”  Now, with Graco’s latest products, you can stay on trend at a fraction of the price.

Unboxing and Assembly…

graco modes click connect travel system 2014

Our Favorite Features… The Graco Modes Sport Click Connect Travel System, found exclusively at buybuyBABY features a sleek 3-wheel design with a locking front swivel for added stability and maneuverability.  The new 3-in-1 design allows the Modes Sport Click Connect Travel System to be used from birth to toddler-hood (up to 50 lbs). The Graco Modes Sport stroller accepts all Graco click connect car seats in one simple step.  The infant car seat attaches directly to the stroller frame which eliminates the need for a stroller base like the  SnugRider Elite Stroller .  The infant car seat can be turned to face forward or towards the parent also in one simple, secure step.

graco modes click connect travel system 2014

What makes this stroller ideal for every parent is the one-handed folding feature.  Simply fold the stroller for storage at home or in the car with just one hand.  Gone are the days of taking too long to fold the stroller while your child waits in the car.

Graco also added a little something for mom and dad, too.  The convenient parents tray features two deep cup holders and a covered storage compartment for your phone and keys.  This is great for going on walks, shopping or travel.

graco modes click connect travel system 2014

You will also notice that this stroller comes with a huge (and we mean HUGE) storage basket with easy access.  This storage bin fits even the larger diaper bags like the Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpack and then some.  We were able to store a mid-sized diaper bag, changes of clothes for four people, snacks and drinks on our last visit to a theme park and we still had room for more.

Good to Know… The iPhone 5 doesn’t fit in the parents compartment if it has a protective case on it .  To solve this problem we use the parents cup holder to hold the phone, which exposes it to sunlight and possible theft when out and about.  This is a big disappointment as I like to keep my phone within reach, but still hidden, for snapping photos, taking phone calls, etc.  If you don’t have one of those cutesy cases on your phone it will fit in the rectangular compartment at an angle.

Carriage Mode :  Position the toddler seat so that it faces the parent, lay the back all the way down, pull thesun  and bend the footrest all the way up to create a pram style carrier.  This is great for infants up to toddlerhood and looks super chic.

As with all strollers, try not to place cups without lids in the cup holders.  When you go over bumps the beverages will spill which ends up being a huge mess.

Wider wheel base :  This stroller has a wheel base that is wider than the stroller itself.  While this is great for stability it is a little hard to get used to and we find ourselves getting stuck often on curbs, around corners, etc.

Handle Height : If you are a taller person, this stroller will be great for you.  While it does not have an adjustable handle for the parents, it is set pretty tall which is actually really nice for any height.

How to Clean this Stroller…

We love this stroller for everyday use (shopping, walks, theme parks, etc).  It’s smooth as butter to roll on concrete, carpet and other hard floors which makes it ideal for a walking pace.  This stroller doesn’t appear to be designed for jogging or off road use like trails and we recommend keeping it out of the dirt or sand to reduce damage, however, we have used it on gravel and dirt and it rolls great.

The first thing I love about this system was the ease in which I was able to assemble the stroller right out of the box. It quickly went together and came with very simple to understand instructions.

With my daughter still on the way I borrowed my ten month old nephew to try out the system in every day life. It was a breeze to fit the harness straps to his size. There are four size slots to choose from, to adjust the size you simply unhook from the back and select the appropriate height for your child, feed them back through the holes and reattach the hook to the back. Once your child is placed in the seat and secured by the harness belt, you simply pull the restraint tab at the bottom of the harness to tighten and make a snug fit. Loosening the harness is just as easy, push the button located at the bottom of the seat and pull up on harness to loosen.

The carrier is also very light and the handle is sturdy but thin so it is very comfortable to carry.

The Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 35 Car Seat is easy to carry!

The car seat base has a convenient level on the side to let you know when the base is properly installed. Once secure the car seat simply clicks into place and you are ready to go.

The material for the system is offered in many styles and colors. The color pictured is Downton, which I love, and it’s made of a material that will be easy to clean but also hide dirt from use so that it always looks stylish.

The stroller for the system is very easy to operate. With a one button push the stroller pops up and is ready for use. There is no fighting and frustration that I have experienced with other strollers. When finished with the stroller it only takes one click to compress the stroller to put into your car. It takes up minimal room because it compresses down to only 12″ wide.

The Graco Modes Click Connect stroller folds easily for storage!

The backrest has three different positions, it can be laid completely down so that your child may sleep comfortably, be put into a reclining position or be fully in the upright position. The stroller has two cup holders and a spot for a snack so that they can have the freedom to get a drink or feed themselves without you having to stop and help.

The Graco Modes™ Click Connect™ Travel System has dual cup holders for the little ones

One feature that I love is the adjustable footrest. It can be placed in multiple positions to accommodate a child’s growing legs. It’s a great feature for sleepy baby’s!

The Graco Modes™ Click Connect™ Travel System stroller has an adjustable footrest!

The adjustable footrest is great for sleepy baby’s!

I’ve found that in the upright position it helps to catch falling toys and snippy cups from your child’s lap. That is genius, as it keeps you from constantly picking things up that fall on the floor through the leg holes.

The adjustable footrest on the Graco Modes™ Click Connect™ Travel System is a great toy catcher!

The adjustable footrest on the Graco Modes™ Click Connect™ Travel System is a great toy catcher!

The stroller has a great storage bin underneath to hold moms purse, shopping bags or babies necessities, and unlike other strollers I’ve used, there was no fighting to retrieve my bags from the bottom because of the tall open access to the bin.

The Graco Modes™ Click Connect™ Travel System has great storage

The Graco Modes™ Click Connect™ Travel System has great storage

The stroller also has two cup holders and a storage area by the handle for the ones in charge of pushing it.  The storage compartment will easily hold a cell phone for safe keeping.

The only thing I would change about the whole system would be to add the little pads to the car seat straps that are on the stroller straps.  They just look more comfortable for baby with the extra bit of cushion there.

We never invested in a good stroller, and it was a regret of mine. I don’t think you can really go wrong with Graco. (And it’s nice to know that they have a double, too!)

Wow, this looks like a great travel system. It looks so comfortable and the storage looks nice. I like a good storage area that is not hard to get to. And I love that it stands folded so its not getting dirty on the ground.

Graco Modes Click Connect Stroller Review | A stroller from birth to toddler

I was sent a Graco Modes Stroller/ Travel System to facilitate my review. All thoughts are 100% my own. No compensation was received.

After having a couple kids, you sort of know what you like and don’t like. What you want and don’t want. What works best and what you totally want to pitch.

With the first two, I used a giant travel system. It was bulky and heavy. Of course, overall all strollers and infant carseats are lighter and better 7 years later.

graco modes click connect stroller review

I knew with B I wanted to use an infant carseat and just a frame for her stroller. I have to walk the middle two into their preschool two days a week, and it’s super easy to pop the stroller into the frame and push B in while E and N walk in.

So, when I was introduced to the Graco Modes Stroller , I was all over it.

Graco Modes Stroller review

Of course it didn’t come together in the box, but it was super easy for me to put together…even when I was hugely pregnant! It was mostly popping pieces together and pushing the wheels on.

The hardest part was snapping on the parent drink console (hallelujah…all strollers need these!). That parent’s tray has a small covered storage and 2 deep cup holders.

You can also see how compactly the frame folds up. That’s it.

It takes up almost no space, and it’s not much bigger when you add the seat (the thing on the left in the bag!)

Graco Modes Stroller review

The fabric is nice and soft, with a nice pattern and both the seat and stroller are very sturdy. B was a little over 7 pounds when she was born and fit very well in the carseat.

Just a couple weeks after she was born (like 2), there was an event at our church honoring new parents…we had the newest baby and were allowed to bring her. I like that I can just take the infant seat out of the van and pop it right into the frame.

With the Click Connect™ technology, there is only a one-step process that allows for a secure attachment of infant car seat to stroller

Graco Modes Stroller review

A recent addition is the on the handle bar. It features an adjustable height for comfortable strolling for parents, grandparents, siblings or any other stroller-pusher of all sizes.

And two cup holders? Yes! Odds are you will need them. Especially if you have another child with you. One spot for you and one spot for them.

The seat can go rear-facing, forward-facing in just the frame only, or you can add in the seat to the stroller and use it as a full travel system (so baby can go into the stroller without the carseat).

With just a quick button squeeze and handle rotation, the stroller/frame folds right up. The one-hand fold is the best!

Graco Modes Stroller Infant Stroller

It really is three strollers in one: infant car seat carrier + frame, infant stroller popped in over the seat and toddler stroller. And, it locks in both ways so baby can face you or face out to see the world around them.

Check out this amazing storage basket underneath the seat. It’s so big.

his is our gigantic, two kids in cloth diapers backpack that we use as a diaper bag. It fits right in there and I don’t even have to fight with it. Even my older girls can help with accessing the storage basket and all of our goodies.

They can even put their own things under there (so many coats during the winter. So. Many. Coats.) and they all fit.

And all the moms said, “Amen!”

Graco Modes Stroller review

At first, B wasn’t a fan of the carseat. Then again, she wasn’t a fan of many things. But now, with her paci (finally), and a blanket to play with, she can fall right asleep in it.

Which is what she did just tonight while we had dinner out! The carseat holds an infant from 4 up to 35lbs and up to 32″. With the InRight™ LATCH system, it’s a breeze to install the car seat and base in the car for easy removal to the stroller, or popping back into the car.

Graco Modes Stroller

Should you want to use the stroller for your infant without the carseat, it folds completely flat and you can use it at a proper carriage.

Infant stroller

B isn’t sitting yet, but her cousin is. When we watched her two months ago, we had to get her back to the airport to get connected with her parents that were flying through. Mr. Serious used the  Graco Modes Stroller as a toddler stroller.

The removable / pivoting child’s tray and armrests allowed us to easily get her in and out of the stroller and also provided a place to put her toys and a snack (for later on).

If she were older and we wanted to streamline the stroller even more, we could have removed the tray and bar completely so that it’s not in the way.

Graco Modes Stroller

It was the first time Logan had been in a stroller facing out and she really loved it! She was smiling at everybody. I like the option to rear-face older kids too to decrease any stimulation.

The only problem I had with that was that it was hard to fold up nice and small when the seat was in the forward facing out position.

In this position, the seat also has a 3-position leg adjustment.

Since Logan is younger, she was harnessed in the stroller with a 5-point harness. But, as children get older, it is easily convertible to a 3 harness that grows with your child.

The toddler stroller can hold a child up to 50 lbs. You can adjust the leg rests in three positions to comfortably accommodate all sizes of legs and the child’s tray and armrests can be easily removed, so it’s super easy to get the kiddos in and out.

Graco Modes Click Connect

There are two stroller options. The traditional stroller and the sportier version with one set of wheels on the front instead of two.

I actually prefer the sportier version of strollers for my family because I feel they are easier to turn and maneuver in small spaces.

Graco Modes Travel System, Davis

Should you already have a Graco Click connect carseat , you can also purchase just the stroller without an additional carseat.

I’ve been trying to think of things I don’t like and really the only thing I can come up with is that it doesn’t fold well with the rear-facing toddler seat and that the cup holders don’t hold all sizes of cups. But, overall, there are more likes than improvements needed!

Specifications

Stroller Unfolded Dimensions: Weight: 21.05 lbs Length: 21.14″ Width: 27.5″ Height: 41″

Stroller Folded Dimensions: Weight: 21.05 lbs Length: 22.0″ Width: 27.50″ Height: 18″

Infant Car Seat Dimensions: Weight: 7.5 lbs Depth: 30.7″ Width: 18.7″ Height: 15.6″

We have been really happy with the   Graco Modes Stroller , three in one stroller.

It’s super functional and can be used from the teeny tiny, to up to a 50 pound kid (which in our experience is about 7 years old!).

Once baby is out of the infant car seat, (or if you just purchase the Modes Stroller), check out the Graco 4Ever seat I reviewed.

It works on newborns and my 10 year old can ride in it! There’s a full video review there, too!

There are days when I miss being able to strap my kids into strollers. It sure does help with the keeping up and going pace I need some days! Graco makes some pretty awesome strollers.

Thanks for letting Logan take it for a test drive! She really did enjoy facing out.

I had a Graco stroller with my boys when they were babies and I loved it. It lasted through both of them and I never had any issues.

Looks like a great stroller. My middle daughter wasn’t a fan of the carseat, either. She’d scream every time I put her in it!

I had a double travel stroller and boy was that thing hard to travel with! It was so big and bulky and I got to the point of just leaving it home at times.

Now this stroller looks very nice!

That looks like an awesome stroller! I’ve always loved and trusted the Graco brand , their products are amazing!

I don’t have kids but this is a very thorough review! Looks like a great stroller.

I am so happy to see Graco releasing a stroller like this! We have loved their products!

If I recall, we had a Graco stroller when my girls were babies. They are definitely a brand that makes high quality products! This looks like a super nice stroller!

This looks awesome! I like that it has lots of storage and can be used as a seat 🙂

Not sure what brand my sister has but this one seems like a great brand. Looks comfortable! 😉

I don’t have any kids, but I have already envisioned getting a stroller like this. Is it weird that I’m thinking ahead?!?

This is a pretty amazing stroller. Looks like it has everything one would need in a stroller. Graco was the brand of stroller I used when my kids were young. Quality product.

Wow, you’re right! That storage basket is enormous! I would have loved that!

Strollers and carriages have come such a long way since I had to use one. That one is really nice!

I am past this stage in life. However, this is a great review and I will be sure to forward it along to all my “baby-having” friends!

What a cozy stroller. I love that you can switch it to face toward or away from you.

Having one stroller last all the way through would be great! We usually downsize once our babies no longer need the infant seat into the stroller. That means buying a second stroller though – so this would be more worth the money.

It is exciting to see strollers that are a far improvement from the ones I used when my kids were little…..many years ago

A good stroller that goes from birth to toddler is a great investment.

Aww, I love that she was smiling at everyone. I like the Graco brand, always have. 🙂

I can’t believe that this stroller is so adjustable! That is awesome. I also especially love the huge storage basket.

What a gorgeous baby! Congrats! I love the stroller. Very nice.

I love how adjustable and convenient this stroller is. I wish I had something like this when my daughter was smaller. It would have made traveling much more easier.

I used Graco products for my babies. They are a reliable, trustworthy company that makes great products! This looks like a great stroller!

These always seemed so convenient! Though I needed a double stroller for most of the time. I should have had one of these for my first.

I love the strollers that face you. So many great positions with this – great review!

I love Graco’s upgrades to their strollers! This is FUN and functional!

I wanted one of those so bad when my kids were little. They are definitely easier to find now

That’s a nice stroller. I really like how it grows with your child. To me, that is a huge bonus.

I love the cup holder. They didn’t have those on strollers in my days and they’re so helpful.

This looks like a great stroller. I love having options and being able to change it with them as they grow.

SO awesome it goes forward too. I love that

I have this on my registry list!! So happy to see it’s worked well for you, it’s so hard to fall in love with a cool gadget so I’m glad to see it in action here.

Too easy* I mean. With so many cool things out there, it’s impossible to know what to try without reviews.

So glad you do! Yes, it was a great combination. I loved the seat that popped right into the frame. I hope you guys like it as much as we do. I actually recently passed it onto a pregnant friend so another little one could get some life out of it.

For the convertible seat, we love the 4ever. Add that to you registry, too..or another convertible. People are generous so it never hurts to have options on there!

I’m so excited for you all!

A baby stroller can keep your baby safe, offer a comfortable seat to take naps or play with toys. Generally, baby strollers come in different sizes, styles, variations and features. I have A stroller and a car seat for my baby. Thanks for sharing..!!

Which other stroller were you considering before deciding on this one? I’m comparing this with Chicco Bravo. I read that the former has issues with the wheels as it is plastic. Chicco Bravo are filled with foam and had an all wheel suspension. It would be comfortable for the baby especially on rough roads in the park. However it costs USD100 more in my country (including the respective car seats). Not sure if the more comfortable ride is worth the USD100 upgrade.

I honestly didn’t have any comfort issues with my daughter and the stroller. Nor did I have any issues with the wheels. In fact, at least two other families have since used this system and loved it.

If you are planning on going on trails, (not paved) I would get a second stroller that has air filled wheels like a bike. Those are usually much bigger so I don’t like to use them for all things, but they are a smoother ride and easier to push for trails/jogging.

However, this Graco was my go to for most everything else. (Graco makes a jogging stroller which is pretty nice to and I’ve reviewed here on the blog).

We actually used the frame with the infant carrier the most with This system.
