FIRST LOOK: Mega Bloks Star Trek Collector Construction Sets
Mega Bloks/Mattel will launch Mega Bloks Star Trek Collector Construction Sets in 2016, and StarTrek.com has a First Look at what's to come. It all starts with the remarkably detailed U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Signature Series, which is a sight to behold. Scotty would be proud.

Build Your Own Enterprise! Celebrate 'Star Trek's' 50th with Mega Bloks
"Star Trek" fans, assemble! Later this year, fans of the sci-fi franchise who also love construction will have the chance to build their own Klingon battle cruiser, transporter room and (of course) the famed USS Enterprise.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of "Star Trek" this fall, Mega Bloks — a product produced by Mega Brands, a subsidiary of the Mattel toy company — will release several kits aimed at people who followed the exploits of James T. Kirk and other crews of the USS Enterprise.
Not surprisingly, the flagship of the new "Star Trek" sets is the 3,100-piece USS Enterprise NCC-1701 itself, which will retail for $249.99. It's a 1/350 scale model of the famous ship that took Kirk and his crew across much of the galaxy. [ The Many Faces of the Starship Enterprise (Photos) ]
"It has key differentiated features that fans can appreciate, with a shaped, buildable display, authentic engraved dedication plaque, with ultracool light-up warp engines with a color-changing light pattern," said a Mega Bloks press release.
The Transporter Room ($39.99) is inspired by the awesome "Star Trek: The Original Series" episode called "Mirror, Mirror." In that episode, a malfunction in the transporter replaces the crew with evil versions of themselves from a mirror universe. Kirk, Spock and Scotty are all included in the set, which has room for up to six figures.
"The iconic Transporter Room has cool features that include new glow-in-the dark wall panels that are also interchangeable to include the Mirror Universe logo to switch between the classic and parallel universe scenes," Mega Bloks wrote in a product description.
The Klingon D-7 Battle Cruiser ($29.99) is a symbol of a species that was once the enemy of the United Federation of Planets (in "The Original Series"), but joined the federation before the events of "The Next Generation" series. Helming the ship is the legendary Captain Kor, who appeared in multiple "Star Trek" series.

"A buildable villain ship for ultimate build and display," Mega Bloks wrote. "The set includes a swiveling display stand, nameplate featuring the name of the ship, a Klingon Empire red flag and one highly detailed, superposeable micro action figure of Kor, captain of the ship, with his authentic disruptor weapon."
Mega Bloks has released some intriguing space and sci-fi themed sets over the years, including tie-ins to the recent "Star Trek" re-boot films, "Halo" video game series, and even "Call of Duty's" zombie astronauts on the moon and the Odin military space station (our personal favorites, after "Star Trek," of course).

10+ Best LEGO® Star Trek Sets (And MOCs)
With Star Trek being a popular choice amongst the sci-fi fanbase it isn’t surprising that people are frequently asking for LEGO® Star Trek sets. It may surprise you that
LEGO has never released even one official LEGO® Star Trek set but they license instead.
Why Are There No Official LEGO® Star Trek Sets?
The reason there have not been any LEGO® Star Trek sets released is down to licensing, the LEGO® Group does not have the license to produce Star Trek sets.
In 1999 the LEGO® Group gained the license to produce Star Wars sets, these sets have been a massive success, arguably the most popular theme LEGO® has ever released.
With this being the case, I believe all the time they are licensed to produce Star Wars sets they will continue to put all their focus, design, and production power into this ever-growing theme.
In 2013 C3Brix submitted a LEGO® MOC named “ STARTREK NCC-1701 STARSHIP ENTERPRISE ” which receive 1003 supporters but was closed with the following message on the “Official LEGO® Comments” tab.
We’ve looked into the possibility of producing a set based on this licensed property (Star Trek), and since another company has the construction toy license for this IP, we can’t pursue this further as a potential LEGO® set. We’re sorry to be the bearers of this disappointing news. – https://ideas.lego.com/
Even though this was quite a few years ago the license still remains with another company and I cannot see them wanting to give up the license anytime soon!
List of LEGO® Star Trek Sets
1. bluebrixx.
If you are not averse to trying out alternate LEGO® products you will be pleased to hear that BlueBrixx secured the license to produce Star Trek sets in July 2021.
If you weren’t aware, BlueBrixx is a German toy production company who were established in 2017.
At the time of writing this, they have 17 sets available for purchase, I cannot comment on the quality of the bricks but I can say that the sets look very detailed and well-designed.
2. Mega Bloks
Mega Bloks is a brand I was expecting most LEGO® fans to have heard of and when it comes to Star Trek sets you shouldn’t ignore them.
Are There Any Alternate LEGO® Star Trek Sets?
Yes, below we’ve displayed a list of LEGO® Star Trek MOCs for you to check out as an alternative to LEGO® Star Trek sets.
List of LEGO® Star Trek MOCs
Force of Bricks has designed 2 premium and 4 free LEGO® Star Trek-inspired MOCs.
These are all available from his store but so you can easily see what he is offering they are all listed below.
Premium LEGO® Star Trek MOCs
1. u.s.s. enterprise ncc-1701-d.
“Seize the time… live now. Make now always the most precious time. Now will never come again. “ – Captain Jean-Luc Picard
The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) was a 24th-century Federation Galaxy-class starship operated by Starfleet, and the fifth Federation starship to bear the name Enterprise. During its career, the Enterprise served as the Federation flagship and was in service from 2363 to 2371.
2. Enterprise NX-01 NX Class Exploratory Cruiser
“We’re making history with every light year.” – Captain Jonathan Archer
One of the most important starships in interstellar history, Enterprise (NX-01) was the culmination of the NX Project. The NX-01 was the first NX-class starship, launched by the United Earth Starfleet in 2151.
Free LEGO® Star Trek MOCs
1. mini ferengi marauder.
Mixing LEGO® Star Trek with Croissants? What a genius idea! These mini-builds only take 70 pieces to put together, these would be very effective if you wanted to make a fleet of Ferengi Marauders.
2. Design Ninjato
Made from only 92 pieces this LEGO® Star Trek mini build is fun and cheap to build. Once you are finished sit it on the stand to show it off.
3. Mini Romulan Warbird
The mini version of a Romulan D’deridex-class, B-type Warbird goes well together with Force of Bricks Mini Enterprise D which is also available here.
4. Mini Enterprise D
The Enterprise D can be built in three versions: Mini Enterprise D, Mini Enterprise D | Saucer Separation, and Mini Future Enterprise D. The parts list contains all parts to build either the Enterprise D, Saucer Separation, or the Future Version.
LEGO® Star Trek MOCs From Our Website
Lego® star trek sets found online, 1. uss 1701-a enterprise by james dart.
This LEGO® Star Trek set is beautiful and would be welcomed by any Star Trek fan, careful attention has been paid to the detail of this LEGO® MOC and it was definitely worth it.
Not only does the USS 1701-A Enterprise look amazing it is also free-standing which is great when you want to sit it with your collection of LEGO® sets!
2. Galaxy Class Starship by Picardsbricks
This is another set that is beautifully designed, I think the most impressive part of this set is the neck of the ship.
It’s unreal how they have managed to keep the neck so thin but with it still able to support the front of the ship, this is a very impressive Star Trek MOC!
3. NCC 1701 Starship by C3Brix
This Starship was submitted to LEGO IDEAS in 2013 but was sadly rejected due to licensing limitations.
I really love the unique way C3Brix has made the stand for this Star Trek MOC and the level of detail is perfect.
It is definitely a shame this set did not make it to the rounds and into production!
4. Space Station from Deep Space Nine by Brickfrenzy
I was completely lost for words when I saw this Star Trek MOC, made up of over 75,000 pieces and with a diameter of 8 feet this design is absolutely crazy!
Adrian Drake (AKA Brickfrenzy) is the person behind this incredible creation and it’s not hard to believe this took him 2 years to create this masterpiece.
This space station is crammed full of details, the lights around the inside of the ring and leading to the center are a nice touch, and it really brings the set to life.
The engineering behind this set though, I mean wow… this thing is huge and must weigh a lot!
I am amazed at how Adrian has managed to make the space station self-supporting and how he has designed the top vertically curved structures to stand without snapping in the middle! Adrian Drake deserves the crown of master builder for this LEGO® Star Trek design!
Will The LEGO® Group Ever Get the Star Trek License?
I can only give my opinion on this, my thought on this is that all the time LEGO® is producing Star Wars sets you will never see a LEGO® Star Trek set for sale.
On top of this, the Star Trek license is already owned by BlueBrixx and Mega Bloks, all the time they have it I would not expect The LEGO® Group to be able to get the license even if they wanted it…
LEGO does not have the license to release official LEGO® Star Trek sets and with brands such as Mega Bloks and BlueBrixx holding the license, I wouldn’t expect one anytime soon either.
However, this hasn’t stopped LEGO® Star Trek and Sci-Fi fans from designing fanart MOCs.
If you dream of owning your own LEGO® Star Trek set I would recommend starting off with a Star Trek LEGO® MOC, you have a lot more designs, styles, and variations with these types of sets.
Don’t forget to, if you cannot find the perfect LEGO® Star Trek set you can always think about a commission-built design, if you are interested in discussing making your dream set a reality drop click here to contact us today!

Bluebrixx to launch huge star trek construction toy range.
Germany construction toy company BlueBrixx have announced they have secured the license to produce Star Trek building sets, and have already revealed no less than seventeen different sets in the planning stages, spanning ships at various scales, and full scale props! The range so far includes designs based on TOS , TNG , DS9 , and Voyager subjects. Continue below to check out what they've got coming.
BlueBrixx are currently in development on these sets, so most of the images they have released are of digital prototype models, which are still subject to refinements before the final releases. For anyone who has ever tried to built Star Trek ships in Lego or similar building block systems, you will know the spindly gravity-defying arrangements of saucers and nacelles are not the easiest thing to pull off in brick form. Never the less, most of these prototypes look very impressive already.
The flagship releases of the announced sets so far are two big starship display models. The USS Enterprise-D set will be 1953 pieces, and has managed to translate the organic rounded shapes of the D impressively well out of building blocks.
Mmh the quality of bluebrixx stones varies considerably. from crap to good everything is included. I'm curious if everything will hold up. we don't call them gluebrixx for nothing.

Janeway briefs her senior staff on the Omega molecule
An Omega molecule is a highly unstable molecule and the most powerful substance known to exist. The Borg knew it as Particle 010 . The molecule could be synthesized with sufficient amounts of boronite ore . However, proper containment methods did not exist to prevent the violent destabilization of the molecule, which destroyed subspace and rendered warp travel impossible. The explosion of one molecule could destroy all subspace within several light years .

Some Federation cosmologists once theorized that Omega existed in nature for an infinitesimal period of time at the instant of the Big Bang . Some claimed Omega itself had been the primal source of energy for the Big Bang. Seven of Nine dismissed this as a creation myth .
Each molecule contained the same amount of energy as a full sized warp core . Theoretically, an Omega molecule would be so energetic that a small chain of molecules would be able to power a civilization for a nearly indefinite amount of time. ( VOY : " The Omega Directive ")
Cultural impact [ ]
The oral history of Species 262 , a primitive species, appeared to reference the Omega molecule as a powerful substance which could burn the sky. Another primitive species, Species 263 , believed Omega to be a drop of blood from their Creator. ( VOY : " The Omega Directive ")
History [ ]
Borg records [ ].
The Borg learned of the substance in 2145 through the assimilation of thirteen species. The discovery process started with Species 262, whose oral history referenced a powerful substance which intrigued the Borg. This information led the Borg to Species 263, which was also primitive. After following this trail of myth for many years, they managed to assimilate a species with useful data. They then were able to synthesize a single molecule of Omega that remained stable for one-trillionth of a nanosecond . The experiments the Borg conducted on Omega destroyed a total of twenty-nine Borg vessels and six hundred thousand drones . The Borg, who referred to Omega as Particle 010, regarded Omega with near-reverence as they believed it to exist in a flawless state. Because the Borg saw the Omega molecule as "perfection", all Borg were ordered to assimilate it at any cost. From their data, the Borg designed a harmonic resonance chamber that could theoretically stabilize the molecule, but according to Seven of Nine never found another source of boronite to synthesize more Omega molecules. ( VOY : " The Omega Directive ")
Starfleet records [ ]
A research station in the Lantaru sector after an Omega molecule exploded
Omega molecules being destroyed
A single Omega molecule was synthesized in the late 23rd century by the Starfleet physicist Ketteract on board a classified research station in the Lantaru sector . The molecule remained stable for a fraction of a second before it exploded, killing Ketteract and one hundred twenty-six other leading Federation scientists . Additionally, an unexpected secondary effect was the creation of a subspace rupture extending out several light years. This made it impossible to create a stable warp field , complicating rescue efforts.
After the accident was covered up, Starfleet suppressed all knowledge from the general public, and the impassibility of the Lantaru sector was falsely attributed as a natural phenomenon. By the late 24th century , Starfleet had come to the conclusion that Omega molecules represented a threat not only to the Federation, but to the entire galaxy. A chain reaction involving a handful of molecules could devastate subspace throughout an entire quadrant. If that were to happen, subspace capabilities like Warp drive and subspace communications would be rendered impossible. Without faster-than-light travel or interstellar communication, space-faring civilization would cease to exist.
Starfleet suppressed all knowledge of Omega and authored the Omega Directive , on which only starship captains and flag officers were briefed. Specialized teams could be dispatched to deal with Omega-related crises. All priorities and protocols, Starfleet Medical protocols and even the Prime Directive could be suspended during these missions. ( VOY : " The Omega Directive ")
USS Voyager [ ]
" Omega destroys subspace. A chain reaction involving a handful of molecules could devastate subspace throughout an entire quadrant; if that were to happen, warp travel would become impossible – space-faring civilization as we know it would cease to exist. "
Omega molecules in a moment of spontaneous stabilization
The Omega effect
Another civilization in the Delta Quadrant was actually successful in synthesizing some two hundred million Omega molecules in 2374 . They were able to keep the molecules stable by using Omega's own resonance frequency (1.68 terahertz ) to calibrate their containment field, though eventually an accident devastated their research facility. The starship USS Voyager managed to neutralize the molecules before they could do any further damage to subspace. Seven of Nine adapted the Borg harmonic resonance chamber design to emit an inverse frequency which would dissolve Omega's interatomic bonds. Seconds before the harmonic resonance chamber was jettisoned into space, the molecules started to stabilize spontaneously, and remained stable for at least 3.2 seconds. The remaining Omega molecules were destroyed by a modified gravimetric torpedo , with Voyager escaping to warp before the local subspace was destroyed. ( VOY : " The Omega Directive ")
When Q Junior visited Voyager 's bridge in 2378 , he proposed doing something interesting like fighting Species 8472 in fluidic space or detonating a few Omega molecules - to which Captain Janeway firmly replied "No". ( VOY : " Q2 ")
Appendices [ ]
Background information [ ].
Rob Bonchune designed the Omega molecule using Lightwave. He later described it as a bucky ball with a fake electron cloud. The effect of the molecules coming together into the larger structure was one of the first uses of volumetric light in the series. ("Amazing Visual Effects", VOY Season 4 DVD special feature)
In the backstory for the proposed and abandoned animated series Star Trek: Final Frontier , the galaxy would have been devastated by a series of Omega particle detonations, making large areas impassable by warp drive.
Apocrypha [ ]
In the game Star Trek: Armada , the Borg, led by a clone of Locutus of Borg , led an unsuccessful attack, in 2376 , on the Federation and the Klingon and Romulan Empires in an attempt to gain an Omega particle, before being destroyed by the USS Enterprise -E .
In the game Star Trek Online , in a rare star cluster exploration mission, Starfleet Command orders the player's ship to scan a star system for Omega molecules and destroy them. At the end of the mission, the player finds out that there were no Omega molecules in the system and the mission is completed. In the mission "Skirmish", the player is asked to scan a ship for abnormalities. One option is to scan for Omega molecules. After trying this scan (which returns a negative result), the player's science officer says, " Captain, what are Omega molecules? " In the Season 8 update "The Sphere", players enter a Dyson sphere to secure a mysterious factory constantly producing Omega molecules for the Voth , who believe it is their right to have the molecules, as dictated by their Doctrine . It is later revealed that the Omega molecules (and components of them, called "Omega particles") and the sphere itself were created by Solanogen-based lifeforms serving the Iconians . The particles were used as a power source by the systems on board the sphere to conduct near-instantaneous travel through subspace . Also, during some Seasonal events, Q will create Omega molecules at specific locations, which players can stabilize in a minigame for rewards. Unlike other depictions, failing to stabilize the molecules has no destructive or otherwise negative effect, and the Omega Directive is not mentioned or referenced during these events.
In Star Trek: Legacy , the Ketteract incident is found to have been orchestrated by the assimilated Vulcan T'Uerell, who actually stabilized the Omega particle and used it to power a sphere that was destroyed by James T. Kirk , leading to the particle's destabilization. In this interpretation of the Ketteract Incident, Kirk recommended the establishment of the Omega Directive. Legacy depicts a stabilized particle, while " The Omega Directive " mentions that the particle was destabilized fractions of a second after creation – it is possible that even starship captains were only told that the particle exploded upon being created as a cover story to prevent possible classified information about T'Uerell from being disseminated.
The Star Trek: Section 31 book Cloak provides a different portrayal of Ketteract's experiment. In the novel, Section 31 actively participated in the disastrous Omega experiment in the 23rd century . The crew of the original USS Enterprise barely escaped when the molecule destabilized.
The Borg fascination with Omega is described in the Star Trek: Destiny novel trilogy. The race the Borg descended from (the Caeliar) utilized it as a power source. Following the degradation of a Caeliar group exiled due to an accident, their connection to Omega (and a power source for their nanoprobes called catoms) was lost. This led the first Borg Queen to focus on recovery of Omega; however, they lost their knowledge of how to control the particles or synthesize them.
In The Eternal Tide , Voyager learns that the Omega molecule did indeed trigger the Big Bang and is increasingly building power and stability in a sub-dimension, essentially "counting down" to the end of this universe. When a civilian scientific expedition encountered a rift into this dimension, they unintentionally accelerated this decay as their matter provided Omega with additional energy, but the instability caused by this chain reaction also created the Q Continuum , the Q serving as a creative force to 'counter' the destructive potential of the Omega Continuum. Although Q believes that the only way to stop the decay would be to reverse the original incident and thus essentially erase the Q Continuum from existence, Voyager is able to repair the disruption while only shortening the universe's lifespan by a few million years as opposed to the trillions they would have lost previously, thus saving the Q. However, this is only achieved through the sacrifice of Captain Afsarah Eden – a "child" of the Omega Continuum, created when the continuum manifested a new entity based on a scientist who discovered it- and Q's son, who possessed the potential to channel the power of Omega and contain it once again.
In the crossover miniseries Star Trek: The Q Conflict , the four captains (Kirk, Picard, Sisko and Janeway) and their ships are recruited to compete against each other to decide a conflict between the Q, Trelane , the Organians and the Metrons . Initially tolerating the contest as an alternative to open war between these beings, the captains decide that the time is right to oppose Q and try to end the game when he challenges them to collect an Omega molecule, which all three modern captains agree is too dangerous (Kirk doesn't share their objection only because he doesn't know what an Omega molecule is).
In the canceled Star Trek: Borg Assimilator game, the main goal is to develop a stable Omega particle, and then go on and assimilate the Alpha Quadrant.

12 Star Trek Actors Who Appeared On The X-Files
5 reasons star trek: picard fans need to watch terry matalas' other sci-fi show, 12 star trek actors who crossed over into stargate.
- Star Trek fans can explore other sci-fi shows like The X-Files, Fringe, and Farscape while awaiting new Star Trek content.
- Series like The X-Files offer similar episodic storytelling structures and intriguing mysteries for fans of Star Trek to enjoy.
- Shows like Battlestar Galactica provide a different, gritty take on sci-fi compared to the more optimistic Star Trek universe.
With Star Trek: Discovery coming to an end, it will be a long wait before another live-action Star Trek series is available to stream, but there are several great science fiction shows available to watch in the meantime. As one of the longest-running science fiction franchises, Star Trek currently includes 11 television series and 13 movies, with multiple new projects in the works. Not only did Star Trek: The Original Series spawn a mega-franchise, but it also inspired countless other films and television shows that came after.
While the wait for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 or the premiere of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy may seem long, there are plenty of other compelling sci-fi shows out there. While space operas like The Expanse capture the space exploration aspects of Star Trek , procedural dramas like The X-Files have a case-of-the-week structure similar to a lot of early Trek . For viewers who have already watched every available Star Trek story, here are seven other science fiction shows worth checking out.
Every Upcoming Star Trek Movie & TV Show
Star Trek is ending series like Discovery and Lower Decks but renewed Strange New Worlds while setting up new streaming and theatrical movies.
7 The X-Files
All 11 seasons streaming on hulu & disney+, the x-files.
Following FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), The X-Files takes place in a version of our world where aliens and other paranormal creatures exist. Throughout the series, Mulder and Scully travel across the country investigating strange cases, while also working to uncover a massive government conspiracy. One of television's best will-they-won't-they couples, Mulder and Scully's relationship alone makes The X-Files worth watching .
From exploring strange new worlds to fighting to uncover the truth, many actors have appeared on both Star Trek and The X-Files.
Considering The X-Files aired throughout the 1990s alongside multiple Star Trek shows, it's no surprise that the shows are similarly structured. Like the Star Trek: The Next Generation- era shows, The X-Files is mostly comprised of episodic, standalone stories, with the occasional two-parter and a loose overarching storyline. With its numerous close encounters, alien coverups, and bizarre creatures, The X-Files has plenty for Star Trek fans to love.
With two feature-length films and a limited two-season return in 2018, The X-Files remains incredibly popular. Another reboot is currently in the works with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler at the helm.
All 5 seasons streaming on Max
A spiritual successor to The X-Files, Fringe follows FBI Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) and her task force as they investigate cases relating to fringe science. Brilliant and eccentric scientist Walter Bishop (John Noble) and his son Peter (Joshua Jackson) work alongside Olivia after she recruits them to her team. Although Fringe begins with case-of-the-week stories involving strange phenomena, the show later explores a more serialized story involving parallel universes.
Fringe's most significant Star Trek connection is Leonard Nimoy himself, who portrays Dr. William Bell, the former lab partner of Walter Bishop and the founder of Massive Dynamic. A shady research corporation, Massive Dynamic ends up connected to many of the cases investigated by the Fringe team. While Fringe may not feature space travel, Star Trek is no stranger to parallel universes and weird science.
All 4 seasons streaming on Peacock
Produced by The Jim Henson Company, Farscape tells the story of astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder) , who accidentally flies into a wormhole that sends him to a distant part of the galaxy. Crichton ends up on a sentient ship named Moya, with a ragtag group of escaped prisoners who are running from the brutal and militaristic Peacekeepers. As he searches for a way home, Crichton befriends his fellow crewmembers and makes his fair share of enemies.
Along with runaway Peacekeeper pilot, Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black), Crichton and his crew do their best to evade the Peacekeepers, often finding themselves in absurd situations. Thanks to animatronic puppets from Jim Henson's Creature Shop, as well as make-up and prosthetics, Farscape's creatures look truly alien. After Farscape's abrupt cancelation at the end of season 4, a three-hour miniseries called Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars wrapped up the series.
4 12 Monkeys
All 4 seasons streaming on hulu.
Created by Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas , 12 Monkeys offers a unique take on time travel and post-apocalyptic stories. When scavenger James Cole (Aaron Stanford) is brought into Project Splinter, he must travel back in time to prevent a devastating plague. Things don't quite go as planned, which results in numerous trips through time and a complicated search for a mysterious group known as the Army of the 12 Monkeys.
While fans await news of the proposed Star Trek: Picard spin-off, Star Trek: Legacy, they should check out Terry Matalas' other fantastic sci-fi show.
With its compelling characters (Todd Stashwick's Theodore Deacon and Emily Hampshire's Jennifer Goines are particular standouts) and twisty storylines, 12 Monkeys is an incredibly fun show that comes to a satisfying conclusion at the end of its four seasons . Although the first season of 12 Monkeys received mixed reviews, the show hit its stride in season 2 and didn't let up until the end.
3 The Expanse
All 6 seasons streaming on amazon prime, the expanse.
For those who enjoy Star Trek's intergalactic politics, The Expanse tells a complex, often dark story of ruthless leaders and competing factions. When James Holden (Steven Strait) and his makeshift crew aboard the Rocinante become embroiled in a massive conspiracy , they fight to uncover the truth. Over six seasons, The Expanse grows in scope as war looms between Earth and Mars and alien technology complicates matters.
Based on the series of novels by James S.A. Corey, The Expanse is incredibly intelligent sci-fi with a cast of bold, realistic characters. Although The Expanse was canceled after three seasons on Syfy, it was picked up by Amazon Prime for three more seasons. The Expanse ended with season 6 , without adapting the last three books in the series, leaving several storylines unresolved.
2 Stargate SG-1 / Stargate: Atlantis
All 10 seasons of sg-1 & 5 seasons of atlantis streaming on amazon prime, stargate sg-1, stargate atlantis.
With three films and three television series, the Stargate franchise has many similarities to Star Trek . Beginning with the 1994 film, the franchise follows an Air Force special operations team as they investigate various planets by traveling through an alien portal known as a Stargate. Stargate SG-1 has the most in common with Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation , as Colonel Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) leads his team to explore strange planets and keep Earth safe.
Although several Star Trek actors guest star on Stargate, Robert Picardo is the only actor to play a main character in both franchises — The Doctor on Star Trek: Voyager and Richard Woolsey on Stargate: Atlantis.
The first spin-off of SG-1 , Stargate: Atlantis, takes after Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager . When Dr. Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) discovers the lost alien city of Atlantis in the distant Pegasus Galaxy, Stargate Command sends a team to investigate. Major John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) and his military team spend the next five seasons exploring planets in the Pegasus Galaxy and fighting off the dangerous Wraith.
Many recognizable Star Trek actors made appearances in another iconic science fiction franchise: Stargate.
1 Battlestar Galactica
All 4 seasons streaming on amazon prime, battlestar galactica.
Widely regarded as one of the best sci-fi television shows of all time, 2004's Battlestar Galactica follows the last remnants of a human civilization as they search for a new home after a devastating attack. With a fleet of ships led by the Battlestar Galactica, Commander William Adama (Edward James Olmos) and President Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell) do their best to hold humanity's survivors together .
As the orchestrators of the attack, the Cylons continue to plague the survivors, as sentient robots indistinguishable from humans infiltrate the fleet. Developed by Ronald D. Moore (who worked on Star Trek: TNG, DS9, and Voyager ), Battlestar Galactica offers a gritty and realistic take on science fiction, without any of the colorful aliens or technobabble Star Trek is known for. Still, both franchises have left their mark on popular culture and established themselves as science fiction classics.
Every live-action Star Trek show is available to stream on Paramount+.

Veteran producer Simon Kinberg , who oversaw most of the “X-Men” movies for 20th Century Fox, is in talks to produce an upcoming “ Star Trek ” movie for Paramount Pictures, Variety has confirmed.
The project has already been in development at the studio for some time, with Seth Grahame-Smith (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”) handing the screenplay and Toby Haynes (“Andor,” “Black Mirror: USS Callister”) on board to direct. Insiders say the film is intended as an origin story for the main timeline of the “Star Trek” franchise (rather than the alternate, Kelvin timeline started with 2009’s “Star Trek”), set in the aftermath of humanity’s first contact with aliens.
Popular on Variety
The “Star Trek” prequel will also be produced by J.J. Abrams, who has overseen all “Star Trek” movies through Bad Robot since 2009’s “Star Trek,” which he directed. Abrams is also producing a separate “Star Trek” film intended to be the final mission of the Kelvin timeline cast, including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldaña. Steve Yockey (“The Flight Attendant”) is writing the newest draft of that script.
Puck first broke the news about Kinberg.

Abrams remains involved with the new project as a producer. There is no release date for the feature, but the studio has signaled that it would like a 2025 opening. The machinations of the franchise take place against the backdrop of a potential sale of Paramount, which could find itself under the ownership of Sony or Skydance.
There hasn’t been a Star Trek movie since Star Trek Beyond , which was released in 2016. In recent years, Trek primarily has lived on the small screen, boldly finding new life thanks to numerous streaming shows on Paramount+, among them Star Trek Discovery , Picard and Strange New Worlds . Efforts to relaunch the film side, including reuniting the Abrams Trek cast that included Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg, among others, have ended up stranded on rocky alien shores. Paramount is also understood to still be developing a fourth Trek to feature that cast that is being described as the final chapter for this crew.
Puck was the first to report on Kinberg being in negotiations to reboot the Star Trek movie franchise.

The week has barely started (if you’re in the U.S. and reading this on the Monday holiday: even less so!), and already there’s a whole lot of TV to get through.
With any luck, the long weekend gave you some time to catch up with things — after all, as our summer preview is any indication, there’s only gonna be even more coming soon. But while a bunch of new stuff might be coming up, there’s plenty to watch this week alone. Under the Bridge and Hacks are both wrapping up really strong seasons, while shows like Pyramid Game and We Are Lady Parts are just ramping up.

Star Trek Prequel Overtakes Star Trek 4, X-Men Producer Simon Kinberg Taking Over Next Movie [UPDATED]
- Simon Kinberg in talks to lead Star Trek movie franchise, focusing on origin movie release in 2025.
- Paramount looks to Kinberg as franchise shepherd for futuer Trek projects, with a potential reboot in store.
- Puck's newsletter delves into Paramount's future amid parent company sale, hints at franchise changes.
X-Men producer Simon Kinberg is reportedly in negotiations to take over the next Star Trek movie franchise, and the upcoming origin movie has major implications for Star Trek 4 . As Star Trek goes from strength to strength on the small screen, the big screen adventures of the Starship Enterprise have stalled since 2016's Star Trek Beyond . With a new Star Trek origin movie confirmed by Paramount for release in 2025, a new report suggests that Simon Kinberg, best known for producing Fox's X-Men movies, could soon take over as head of the Star Trek franchise.
The most recent edition of Puck's What I'm Hearing newsletter contains a deep dive into the state of play at Paramount Pictures amid the ongoing process of selling its parent company. The report contains some fascinating information about the future of Star Trek movies , and reveals the contract negotiations for Simon Kinberg to come aboard and produce the new origin movie. Read the full quote from What I'm Hearing below:
And Im told Simon Kinberg, the prolific producer of X-Men and other Fox-Marvel movies, is negotiating to join Star Trek as its new steward in film. If his deal closes, Kinberg will technically produce just the prequel being directed by Toby Haynes (Andor) and written by Seth Grahame-Smith. But since Star Trek 4 has script and schedule issues with that famous (and expensive) cast, the prequel will likely shoot in early 2025 and could very well end up as a reboot. Plus, Paramount sees Kinberg as a franchise shepherd la Alex Kurtzman for Trek TV projects, even though J.J. Abrams remains as a producer. Whether that new film is a Paramount or Sony release remains a question to be answered by Shari Redstone, of course, but the studios other suitor, Skydance, does retain its option to co-finance and produce the Kinberg Trek movie."
The Hollywood Reporter has followed up on Puck's report about Simon Kinberg joining the Star Trek movies as producer, with new details on Toby Haynes' Untitled Star Trek Origin Movie . Check it out below:
The project is said to be set decades before the events of the 2009 movie that was directed J.J. Abrams, likely around modern times. It is said to involve the creation of the [sic] Starfleet and humankinds first contact with alien life.

Star Trek's Prequel Could Spell Bad News For Star Trek 4
Currently, Simon Kinberg is in negotiations only to produce the Star Trek origin movie, written by Seth Grahame-Smith, and directed by Toby Haynes . This makes a lot of sense as Kinberg already has a working relationship with Grahame-Smith from producing the movie adaptation of his novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter back in 2012. The most interesting element of Puck's report is the implication that, should the origin movie perform well, Paramount may drop Star Trek 4 . If the Star Trek origin movie becomes a defacto reboot for the movie franchise, then it will need some creative stewarding from a producer with a creative vision.
As ever with the fate of Star Trek 4 , there are still a lot of unknowns, not least whether Simon Kinberg will actually sign a contract with Paramount. However, the fact that there are already rumblings within the studio about playing the origin movie off against Star Trek 4 isn't a good sign. Publicly, Paramount have reaffirmed their desire for a fourth Chris Pine Star Trek movie, and have brought in Steve Yockey for another pass at the script . More privately, however, it appears that their preferred option may be a brand-new Star Trek movie franchise, led by X-Men 's Simon Kinberg.
