SENNSIS TOURGUIDE SYSTEMS

  • Sennheiser Tour Guide System

Sennheiser 2020-D tourguide system

As Sennheiser Tourguide Partners and dealers we supply and service all Sennheiser Tourguide systems.

The easiest way to address your audience is with a Sennheiser Tourguide 2020-D system.

Sennheiser tourguide 2020-D is the unique guided tour system for any city or business tour ensuring that you will be heard both clearly and distinctly. Your audience will simply need to wear a wireless Tourguide receiver.

Receivers are available in two types:

Sennheiser HDE 2020-D-II Stethoset receiver

Sennheiser HDE 2020-D-II Stethoset receiver

The Stethoset is the most popular receiver for the Sennheiser tourguide 2020-D system. This headset is lightweight, comfortable to wear and built to last. This truly unique device integrates both the receiver and headphones. No longer will your audience have to carry any more equipment than is absolutely necessary and being a one piece device they will no longer risk a tangle of cables!

The powerful battery ensures that the device will work for up to 8 hours. Regardless of whether you are providing your tour in a big city, at a historic monument or a large international corporation, Sennheiser tourguide 2020-D will ensure that your tour will proceed without interruption. The stethoset receiver automatically deactivates itself the moment that it is taken off meaning battery life will be preserved. No longer will the tour guide need to check all of the sets after one tour finishes and before the next tour starts.

Sennheiser EK 2020-D-II Bodypack receiver

This is the alternative receiver for the Sennheiser tourguide 2020-D system and has a 3.5mm jack socket for use with either-

Sennheiser EK 2020-D-II Bodypack receiver with headphones

Headphones (ideal for a noisy environment)

Earphones (lightweight for long tours) or an inductive neck loop (to assist hearing aid wearers)

The Bodypack can easily be clipped to a shirt pocket or worn on a lanyard. With a battery life of up to 16hrs this receiver will last through even the longest event!

Sennheiser tourguide receiver display

The Stethoset and Bodypack receivers share the same easy to use controls. Your tour participants will be able to individually adjust the volume through a rotary control without the need to even take the device off. A liquid crystal display will clearly confirm the battery status, volume, channel being listened to and the quality of the reception. Channels can easily be set and adjusted by using the middle rocker switch. Six channels are available allowing up to six tours to take place simultaneously in the same venue. There is no limit to the number or type of receivers that can be used on a system.

A Tourguide system will allow you to deliver a professional guided tour. All you need is a wireless transmitter:

Sennheiser sk 2020-d bodypack transmitter.

Sennheiser SK 2020-D Bodypack transmitter with headband microphone

he bodypack transmitter allows you total freedom of movement during your tour. An integrated belt clip and two jack sockets for the microphone and line input are provided.

The microphone input allows the connection of a headband microphone, ideal for hands free use allowing you to describe an object, make a presentation and express your point. An alternative microphone is a wired handheld microphone which allows other participants in the tour to comment or ask questions.

The line input enables audio from an external device to feed the tourguide system. For example, you will be able to transmit an external audio source such as music or an audio description, from an mp3 player.

Sennheiser SKM 2020-D Handheld transmitter

Sennheiser SKM 2020-D Handheld transmitter

The handheld transmitter has an integrated microphone and is the easiest way to address your audience. Should a tour participant pose a question, just hand over the microphone and the question will be clearly heard by everybody. Interviewing an expert in front of your audience will make your tour even more interesting. Like the bodypack transmitter, the handheld is easy to operate and highly robust. Both have a backlit Liquid Crystal Display for channel and battery status. The rechargeable battery lasts for up to 8 hours.

Sennheiser EZL 2020-20L Portable charger/storage case

S ennheiser tourguide systems can also be installed:

Sennheiser sr 2020-d installed transmitter.

Sennheiser SR 2020-D Fixed tourguide transmitter

The installed transmitter is ideal for multilingual applications. This compact high-tech transmitter is ideal for international conference centres and tourist attractions. It allows for conferences or presentations to be interpreted simultaneously in up to eight languages (NB When used with an L 2021 40 charger an additional 2 channels can be reprogrammed onto the receivers). The audio input can be from an interpreter's microphone, an external device such as a CD/DVD player or your IT network. Transmitters can either be free standing or mounted in a 19" rack. As with the portable transmitters, digital transmission ensures optimum reception quality with a range of up to 100 metres outdoors and 50 metres indoors.

Sennheiser L 2021-40 Forty-way receiver charger rack

Sennheiser L 2021-40 Forty receiver charger rack

The forty-way charger rack can be desktop or 19” rack mounted. It holds up to 40 receivers that will automatically quick-charge to be ready for the next event. The charger rack has an Ethernet interface to allow pre-selecting the active channel for each receiver on a central PC (Up to 125 charger racks with up to 5000 receivers can be connected). Control software is supplied which can unlock an additional 2 channels in the receivers allowing up to 8 channels to be used simultaneously (with the Sennheiser SR 2020-D transmitter only). The software also offers simple presets to select and confirm channels with just one click. Users and service staff can easily monitor which receivers at which station have been prepared for any given language or program. Configuration problems are a thing of the past!

Sennheiser L 2020-10 Ten-way receiver charger rack

Sennheiser L 2020-10 Ten tourguide receiver charger

The ten-way charger rack can be desktop or rack mounted. Multiple L 2020-10 chargers can be daisy chained.

Sennheiser L 2015 desktop charger

The desktop charger has two charging docks to recharge the portable transmitter batteries.

Sennheiser L 2015 Dual transmitter battery charger

Sennheiser tourguide 2020-D is the first system in the world to use digital RF wireless transmission in the ISM band. No longer will you have to strain your voice and shout! On the contrary, you can relax and clearly communicate with your group at normal conversation level or even whisper. It is so simple - all you need to do is to speak into a microphone and the participants of your tour will hear your voice loud and clear thanks to highly impressive receivers. Based on a digital transmission technique, the Sennheiser Tourguide 2020-D system will also ensure that every word will reach your audience without any background noise or interference. This means that they will be able to pay complete attention while you are speaking.

As the Tourguide 2020-D uses very latest digital technology, the system simply requires type certification by the manufacturer and no user licensing is required. This means that individual users will not have to register the equipment with the relevant national licensing authorities.

Tour Guide System FAQs

A tour guide system is a wireless audio communication system used to communicate with an entire group simultaneously. It typically consists of a headset with a microphone and transmitter for the presenter (although handheld microphones can sometimes be used). Tour guests have headsets with receivers that allow them to hear the presenter loud and clear, even in noisy environments.

A tour guide speaks into a microphone to transmit their message wirelessly to a tour group. Guests wear earphones or headphones to hear the message. Some systems allow for interactive two-way communication with the touch of a button while others only allow the presenter to speak. Batteries are charged in a charging station and last for long periods of time.

Guided tours are conducted in a variety of settings, including manufacturing facilities, museums, historical sites, cruise ships, exhibit halls, demonstrations, college campuses, trade shows and much more. They can even be used for training, silent sessions and daily walkthroughs.

Yes. In particular, our ListenTALK system can be configured to accommodate language interpreters to listen to a presenter on one channel and communicate to international guests on another, helping encourage a diverse and inclusive tour experience.

A customized demo kit typically includes four pre-programmed transceivers with headset mics and accessories. Some tour planners, however, will rent a full system with multiple units as a test run before they decide to purchase.

Tips on which headphones to use with your tour guide system

A tour guide system is a portable wireless communication system that allows a guide to speak to a group of people. A system consists of a transmitter with a microphone for the guide, receivers with headphones for the audience, and (often) a charger storage case. To get the best results from your tour guide system and ensure your audience can hear you, it is important that the most suitable earphones/headphones are used with their receivers. Each receiver has a 3.5mm headphone socket and a volume control. A wide range of headphones are available for tour guide systems for different applications and environments. The most common types are-

Single earphone

Tour guide system receiver with single earphone

This lightweight earphone is the most common earpiece for use with tour guide system receivers due to its compact size, hygienic design and low cost. Single earphones only deliver the sound to one ear and are therefore best suited for use in quiet areas. The flexible strap is designed to fit all ear shapes and it can be used on either ear.

Lightweight headphones

Tour guide system receiver with headphones

As the headphones are securely worn around the head they can be used for active tours such as rambling, horse riding, cycling and Segway tours. Tip. If the tour is to take place in an area that requires hearing protection e.g. factory visit, then these headphones can be used over earplugs.

Tour guide system receiver with earphones

Earphones are placed directly into the ears. The soft sleeves provide a comfortable fit and reduce background noise. Earphones are normally retained by each guest after the tour, due to hygiene concerns.

Dual-Muff noise reduction headphones

Tour guide system receiver with noise reduction headphones

These heavy-duty headphones are designed for tours in high noise environments and provide hearing protection for the user. The enclosed ear cups provide excellent sound isolation enabling the tour guide to be heard. Versions for use with head protection e.g. hard hat, bump cap, etc, are also available. Tip. The tour guide can also use a receiver with noise reduction headphones to enable them to hear any questions or comments from their guests during the tour. This works best with a plug-in microphone connected to the transmitter as it can be easily passed between the tour group.

Inductive neck loop

A neck loop is plugged directly into the receiver headphone socket and is used by a hearing aid wearer attending a tour. The neck loop is placed over the head similar to a necklace. The hearing aid wear switches their hearing aid to the ‘T’ telecoil setting to hear the guide’s message via their hearing aid.

Tip. It is important that the guide repeats any questions or comments from a guest when conducting the tour to enable the hearing aid wearer to hear what is said. When a hearing aid wearer has switched their aid to the ‘T’ setting, the microphone on their hearing aid is often muted. Therefore, they completely rely on the guide’s microphone to hear the message. All the above accessories plug directly into the receiver’s headphone socket. The user can then adjust their personal volume level.

If you have any questions about which headphones would be most suitable for your application then please do not hesitate to contact us .

Bluehertz Audioguides offers several portable group audio guide systems to facilitate voice transmission and reception (whisper systems, tour guide system or audio guides for groups). The guide speaks into a transmitter equipped with a microphone, which wirelessly broadcasts their voice into the headphone receivers of each user, without creating noise or disruption to those around them.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A TOUR GUIDE SYSTEM (WHISPER SYSTEM)?  A tourguide system is a device composed of a wireless transmitter with a microphone which is used by the guide or speaker and a set of wireless receivers and headphones that are worn by visitors. The wireless receivers allow them to listen to the guide's explanations continuously throughout the tour. The aim of a tourguide system is for the visitors to be able to hear the guide clearly without being close to him/her. They are highly recommended for groups bigger than 10 and essential for even larger groups. Note: Tour guide systems are an alternative solution to audio guide players which are used by those who wish to take a tour independently without the presence of a guide. Visit the audio guides page to learn more.  audioguides

WHY USE A TOURGUIDE SYSTEM ? Tour guide systems allow the user to easily hear the guide at a constant volume without having to worry about how far away the guide is. This ease of use during the tour improves listening attention and, as a consequence, significantly enhances the overall quality of the tour. Users who are given tour guide systems, also called whisper systems, tend to value their visit more highly.

TECHNOLOGY ANALOG OR DIGITAL TRANSMISSION  Tour guide systems or whisper systems were analog until the early 2000s. The appearance of digital transmission in tourguide systems brought about significant improvements:  - The audio volume in the receivers increased. - The coverage range increased to become greater than 100 meters. - The background noise or crackling that was constantly present in the recipient's receiver disappeared, even when the guide isn’t speaking. - Interference or clicks reduced significantly, only appearing when the receiver is about to leave the coverage area. - The maximum number of groups that could be in an area without interference went from two to 20. - Battery consumption reduced significantly, increasing the usage time between charges. Analogue and digital transmission equipment still coexist in the market. The main advantage of an analog system is its low price point.

Digital transmission whisper system

TOURGUIDE SYSTEM 2.4G  In the last two years, a digital technology variant called 2.4G has entered the tour guide systems market which uses the 2.4Ghz frequency band. It’s cheaper than digital transmission because it uses the same technology as 2.4G wifi routers. However, it has the same range as 2.4G wifi devices, which is around 50 meters at best. In practice, this range is insufficient for a whisper system.

BATTERIES Currently, only two types of batteries are used in Tour guide systems: Lithium or lithium polymer batteries. These are the best options. Primary advantages include a low weight, a small size, fast charging and a large capacity. However, its price and the need for an intelligent charging system must be considered. Nickel-metal-hydride batteries (NI-MH) are the same AA and AAA rechargeable batteries found in conventional remote controls. These were the preferred option before the arrival of lithium batteries. The biggest drawback when used in tourguide systems is their weight which is uncomfortable for the users because the tour guide device must constantly hang from their neck. Their most significant advantage is a lower cost.

Batteries for Tour guide systems

HOW TO USE A WHISPER SYSTEM The group guide or speaker must carry the transmitting equipment and microphone while each listener must carry a receiver with a headset or headphones. The devices are small in size and should be worn around the neck to ensure reliable coverage. Carrying the transmitter or receiver in a pocket is not recommended because it could reduce the range. All transmitters and receivers of a group must be tuned to the same frequency channel. Numerous frequency channels are available. GROUP SIZE There is no limit to the number of tourguide receivers in a group. For listeners to clearly hear the guide's explanations, they only need to be within the coverage area or range of the transmitter. The receivers do not interfere with one another. NUMBER OF TRANSMITTERS There can only be one transmitter at a time in each group. There may be several speakers with a transmitter in the same group, but they must coordinate among themselves so as not to have two active simultaneous transmitters in the same group. NUMBER OF GROUPS When using digital transmission equipment, there may be several groups in the same area or room (up to a maximum of 20 digital transmission groups). For this to work, each group must be on a different frequency channel. Note: If using analog transmission equipment, there can only be two groups in the same area. It is not possible to add a third analog group in the same area, even if it is in another channel. This is a limitation of the analog system.

Tour guide system, whisper system, guided tour system, portable short-range wireless system

RANGE A quality guided tour system (Tour guide system) should allow the receivers to hear the guide comments while being at a distance of at least 100 meters. A range below 100 meters does not offer a large enough coverage area.

Voice transmission between transmitter and receiver

TYPES OF MICROPHONES The tour guide transmitter can use different microphones. Three types are typically used: Headset or head microphones: The microphone includes a headband to adjust onto the guide’s head. The microphone is very close to the mouth, approximately 2-3 centimeters away. The guide uses this microphone when in motion. It is also highly recommended for noisy environments. Having the microphone so close to the mouth effectively captures the voice while the ambient background noise is lower. The microphone cap, which is hidden by foam, is L-shaped and directive. The short side of the L should point towards the mouth. Neck or tie microphones: The microphone has a clip which snaps onto the neck of the shirt, not far from the throat. This microphone is used when the speaker is standing still or sitting down. It should not be used when the speaker is in motion or a noisy environment. The tie microphone will always have a volume lower than the headset. Pencil microphone: The microphone resembles a pencil. When connected to the transmitter, the set is used as a standard handheld microphone. This solution works wonderfully when several speakers are sharing the microphone because it is easy to pass between presenters.

TYPES OF HEADPHONES Visitors can use different types of headphones with a tour guide receiver. Three types are typically used:  Monaural earset: These fit on one ear leaving the other ear free. This is the most commonly used type and is effective for guided tours in enclosed and open spaces. In urban areas with traffic, this is the only model that should be used because it does not distract the user from the environment. Its usage in noisy environments is not recommended. Headphones: These fit over the head thanks to a headband. Audio can be heard through both ears. These are only recommended in noisy environments. They should not be used in areas with traffic because they distract the user from the environment. Disposable earbuds: Only one user should use them because the button-shaped earbud is inserted deep into the auditory pavilion. They cannot be shared because they are not hygienic. The user does not have to return them upon finishing the tour.

Tour de Romandie 2024 stages

The race starts with a very short 2.3km prologue which will be contested by the overall favorites, keen to install a pecking order early on, and the short TT specialists looking for a chance to gain a leaders jersey in a big stage race.

Stage one follows the next day and it’s a lumpy 165.7km from Château d’Oex to Fribourg which will likely end in a sprint finish, although there are very view big name sprinters on the start sheet.

Stage two is where the GC action will really kick off with two huge mountains and a summit finish at Salvan/Les Marécottes. This 10km final ascent, averaging 7.3%, has slopes maxing out at 14% so will be a proper test for the climbers.

Those same climbers will the next day have to take on the 15.5km continuously undulating time trial around Oron and utilise another skill needed to win a stage race.

Stage four from Saillon to Leysin is 151.7km and takes the riders into higher territory with five classified climbs including the 10km summit finish at the end.

After this the GC battle should be stitched up with just the laps around Vernier to contend with on the final stage which will likely end in a sprint.

Itzulia Basque Country 2024 live stream — VPN statement

Simon Warren has been obsessed with cycling since the summer of 1989 after watching Greg Lemond battle Laurent Fignon in the Tour de France. Although not having what it took to beat the best, he found his forte was racing up hills and so began his fascination with steep roads. This resulted in his 2010’s best-selling  100 Greatest Cycling Climbs , followed to date by 14 more guides to vertical pain. Covering the British Isles, Belgium, France, Italy and Spain he has been riding and racing up hills and mountains for over 30 years now. He hosts talks, guides rides, has written columns for magazines and in 2020 released his first book of cycling routes,  RIDE BRITAIN . Simon splits his time between working as a graphic designer and running  his 100 Climbs brand  and lives in Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District with his wife and two children.
