5 reasons why you need to check out Dead Sara

LA’s Dead Sara are among American hard rock’s best kept secrets. As they return to to the UK for a run of live shows, there’s never been a better time to get involved. Here’s everything you need to know.

5 reasons why you need to check out Dead Sara

Sometimes you discover a group of artists where it just doesn’t compute that they’re not already massive. Dead Sara are one of those bands. Combining the widescreen ’70s rock influence of legends like Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac with the raw grit and spiky righteousness of the ’90s grunge and riot grrrl movements – then adding just a splash of modernity to the mix – theirs are the kind of songs that can get radio airplay without needing to revert to beige modern formula. In Emily Armstrong they have a complex, intelligent frontwoman, who’s been jamming with guitarist Siouxsie Medley since their mid-teens in the early 2000s. Drummer Sean Friday completed the line-up in 2009. But, though 2012 single Weatherman delivered a real breakthrough, they’ve had to fight for every onward inch.

With last year’s brilliant third album Ain’t It Tragic and this month’s UK return for sold-out shows at London’s Old Blue Last and Signature Brew, as well as a slot at Brighton’s The Great Escape festival, however, it feels like business is finally picking up. Joining Emily on a day off from tour in Milan, she explains why it’s time for Dead Sara to take the limelight they deserve…

1 They rep the real Los Angeles

Plenty of bands are ‘from’ Los Angeles, but precious few are made entirely of members born and bred in the City Of Angels. With all three members of Dead Sara having having grown up under those sparkling lights, they’re uniquely well-equipped to strip away the fame-hungry bullshit and reflect back the city’s real Southern Californian cool.

“It’s funny,” Emily begins. “Back when we were starting out with Weatherman as our first single, we’d get asked about all of us being from LA a lot, and just be like ‘I dunno. This is all we know.’ As we toured with and befriended more and more bands, though, we learned that they all had a pride about where they were from. Nowadays, when I’m asked that, I say that our music has a lot to do with LA because we are LA. It’s a cliché, but you do see a lot of people who come to the city, and they completely change. Then they burn out and go right back home. It’s a very sunny and beautiful place, but there is that darkness to it – that brutal side of things. That leads to a fake feel, sometimes, where you’ll go on a night out and it’s like everyone’s a B-actor trying to be discovered. You’re like, ‘Am I on set?!’ But when you really look at it, those people aren’t even from LA. Real LA people are more chill. I hope that we represent the real LA!”

2 Their inspiration comes from the best of the best

From that band name to the more epic elements of their sound, Dead Sara aren’t afraid to refer back to the giants of hard rock’s past, drawing on everyone from Hole to Nirvana to Led Zeppelin for their timelessly electric sound. Frequently listing the great Stevie Nicks as one of their heroes, Fleetwood Mac hold a special place in their hearts.

“Siouxsie and I used to listen to records backwards, and get into the conspiracy theories and urban legends like The Beatles’ ‘Paul is dead’ stuff [a bizarre rumour that Paul McCartney died on November 9, 1966 and was replaced by a lookalike, to which the band were dropping hints in their songs]. One of the theories was about the song Sara by Fleetwood Mac, that that they sing ‘Dead Sara’ in the song. We were just young teenagers, and I remember that we texted each other at almost exactly the same time saying, ‘The band name should be Dead Sara!’

“Why do we love Fleetwood Mac so much? It’s about the songs, honestly. You listen to the song, think, ‘This is a nice song!’, then, as a musician, you go into how they wrote the song. Then it’s like ‘Wait, they engineered this?’ or ‘They produced this themselves?!’ You just get geeky. There was something about them in particular, their history, and how they could never miss. I miss that time when you found bands and you were just able to get obsessive and learn so much about them. They’re just one of the bands I got obsessed with, including Led Zeppelin, a lot of the other ’60s and ’70s rock bands, and a lot of obscure folk stuff, too. I still do obsess over that stuff sometimes.

“From a musical perspective, it’d be very cool for fans to be able to obsess over us in a similar way. Dead Sara is an entity, not any one person, and we’ve been together for a long time. A fan might find one song [they really connect with] on Ain’t It Tragic, then they could look back and see all the other records we’ve put out. I would love that.”

3 They’ve been around the block, getting better every step of the way

Some bands burn bright and fast, but some smoulder away for years before getting their dues. With 2012’s self-titled debut LP and 2015 follow-up Pleasure To Meet you already in their pockets alongside last year’s Ain’t It Easy – as well as the 2008 Airport Sessions EP (remastered in 2016) and 2018’s six-track Temporary Things Taking Up Space – Dead Sara have plenty of miles on the clock. Between learning the real workings of life in a band and seeing tastes rotate back round to their raw rock’n’roll sound, that experience is no bad thing.

“It was harder to stay in the moment of things when we were younger,” reckons Emily. “You can get too ahead of yourself or struggle to process it when things are going fast – or slow. Eventually, you learn that there is [an ebb and flow], a give and take with the industry. You have to learn to take things that are personal, and things that are just to do with work, and maintain the separation between them as much as you can. The more that we’ve been in this industry and done things on our own – like how we released our first two albums on our own label – you develop this thick skin. The more that we grow as a band, becoming more like a family, you learn that you have to drop the ego as much as possible, to get along, to keep moving, and to get deeper into the music. Plus, you learn not to take things so seriously…

“I do think time has allowed tastes to cycle back around to our sound, too. When Weatherman came out, it felt like it rode the last [of a wave of that sort of music]. Unfortunately, that was our first single. We thought it was all going to be like Weatherman – that ’90s, classic hard rock vibe – but music changed so quickly. It felt like everyone had became a bubblegum-pop version of a rock band. We were like, ‘Shit, this is not who we are.’ But we kept going at it because we love what we do. Things have definitely [picked up] in the last couple of years. We’re on tour in Europe for the first time ever. And despite having only been in the UK twice before, never having headlined, we’ve sold out two shows in London. That should show you something!”

4 Ain’t It Tragic is the sound of them roaring back

Six years on from their last full album, it felt like Dead Sara needed a spark to kickstart their momentum and creativity. Then COVID happened. Seeing all of the buzz and bullshit of their lives in music drop away, with their diaries opening up for months on end, finally afforded them the space to do things they’d always wanted to do. From glowing opener Starry Eyed via pounding singles Heroes and Hands Up to a stand-out closing salvo of Uninspired and Losing My Mind, the resultant set of songs feels like their most definitive statement to date.

“We were supposed to go into the studio right before shutdown,” Emily reflects. “After that, it was just kind of like, ‘Wow!’ You couldn’t help but have a completely different mindset about life in general. We all felt that. Your mind just goes to a deeper, darker place, but, at the same time, we had the magic of this cathartic outlet. Everything in that time helped paint a picture: a bit of [fear], our frustration at the world, then my own personal struggles with depression and more personal things. But it all kind of came together in this year or two where we came to some kind of clarity. We began to see the light at the end of the tunnel while we were in it, like being in a sensory deprivation camber, or a therapy session where you’re just going deep-deep-deep. Then you’re at the other end and it’s like, ‘Holy shit! We did that!’

“And we had to do it all ourselves. We’d always wanted to work that way: just take the reins and do an album on our own. Warner were very supportive, just like, ‘Whatever you guys are doing sounds great. We’ll just get you whatever you need to record.’ We were like kids in a candy store. Obviously, it was really scary, but you didn’t really have time to think, ‘Wow, we’re doing this.’ You just had to get out there and do it.”

5 This week’s shows will find them fully cutting loose on UK shores for the first time ever

Dead Sara’s brand of stripped down hard rock is exactly the type that feels most electrifying in the live arena. Currently in the groove supporting Eagles Of Death Metal on the continent, they’re pumped to get back to the UK for those first ever headline shows so that British fans can find out what they’re really all about...

“I don’t know how to say it without sounding emo, but we play hard rock with an emotional side,” Emily nods. “It’s me yelling at you, but it’s not just me yelling for no reason. It can get to your heartstrings at the same time! All of us, as musicians, always go for it, one-hundred per cent, in whatever we do. We never half-ass it. We go full-throttle. It ends up being very loud. The reason I started screaming in the band was because, before I did, everyone was playing so loud, with all our hearts, that I couldn’t hear myself. We found our sound in that way, and that’s at our core. I think that’s what people connect with!

“There’s a different mentality when you’re playing to new people, too. There’s a different energy, with a little more to prove. We like that. But we don’t give a fuck if you leave not liking us. This is who we are. We’re not going to change anything to try and win people over. We just do what we do, with a little chip on our shoulders. It’s a vibe!”

Dead Sara’s latest album Ain’t It Tragic is out now via Warner. They will tour the UK May 12 – 16.

No surprise, the show was great. Dead Sara is hands down the best band I have ever seen live. In fact they sound even better live than they do on their record (which is already fantastic).

At the Philly show on 09/20. Really enjoyed Welles the opener. A bit of stoner rock, a bit of a '70's throwback. really good songwriting, tight playing, great cover of The Cure's Lovesong. Keep it up guys! As for Dead Sara - what to say - IMO, killed it as they always do. Siouxsie's playing was spot on, riff heavy and just, perfect (and I stood 2' in front of her watching every chord, every note). Sean - keepin' it real and taking no prisoners. And Emily - just keep doing what you do. And I particularly enjoyed the little mid-set improv number. Have a great rest of tour and come back east again as soon as you can. BTW - no surprise here - brought the house with The Weatherman close. :) Also loved the venue #bootandsaddle in Philly - very small room and nice waitstaff.

Interview: Dead Sara Guitarist Siouxsie Medley Discusses Gear and the Band's Self-Titled New Album

dead sara tour uk

Singer Emily Armstrong, bassist Chris Null, drummer Sean Friday and guitarist Siouxsie Medley -- collectively known as Dead Sara -- combine a high-energy live show with well-crafted, organic rock and roll music.

The band, which released a six-song EP, The Airport Sessions, in 2008, is now set to release their self-titled debut album on April 10 on Pocket Kid Records through Fontana/Universal.

They just performed at the SXSW Festival in Austin and are about to hit the road with Chevelle.

Guitar World recently sat down with guitarist Siouxsie Medley to discuss the new album, gear and influences.

GUITAR WORLD: How did you got into the guitar?

I had a nanny who was in a rock band when I was about 8 or 9, and she would bring her guitar to my house and teach me her songs. She was so rad. She never cared about me doing homework as long as I learned a new song or a few new chords each night. I then saved up my money and when I was 11 bought my first guitar, a sunburst Fender Stratocaster. I then started writing my own songs and making up guitar riffs and recording them on an old four-track.

How did Dead Sara come to be?

Emily and I met through a mutual friend. I was about 15 or 16, and we started jamming in my room on guitar together. Then I found my brother's old drum set in the basement and brought it up to my room, and Emily started playing drums for me while I sang and played guitar. We did that for a while, then found another drummer and Emily sang and played bass.

We have gone through so many different players. At one point, we lost a drummer right before a few shows we booked. I ended up on the drums and Emily sang and played guitar. This went on for years until about 2.5 years ago when we asked Sean and Chris to help us out in the practice space. We wrote "Weatherman" the first time all jamming together. It was instant chemistry. The next thing we knew, we were recording our first record.

Do you typically write as a four-piece band or do you and Emily work out songs?

We usually all jam together. I'll come up with a riff, Em will sing over it and the guys will start jamming to it. Occasionally one of the guys or Em will have some bit that we all just start writing to. Sometimes Em and I will dig up some of our old songs and the guys will add to them.

What kind of gear do you use?

I play a Gibson Les Paul through a 65amp half-stack. Love that amp. It's so huge-sounding. I'm all about big, nasty, sleazy dirty riffs, and that amp with the Les Paul make my sound. I also play around with some pedals. One of my favorites that I used on the record is a Death By Audio pedal called the Supersonic Fuzz Gun. It's so messed up and dirty sounding. I love it.

How was this recording experience different from your 2008 EP?

Doing this record was completely different. We have really found our sound since then. Sean and Chris added more elements and Emily and I have grown as writers. Also working with Noah Shain, our producer, was incredible. He is amazingly talented and a wonderful person on top of it. It was like a family this time. Can you give us an idea of what the experience was like from a guitarist's perspective? It was very hard and liberating at the same time. There were points where I felt so frustrated that I couldn't write a part or nail a part on the first take. Other times I was surprised at what I came up with and happy that I had 100 percent free creative control to do whatever I want as we are putting our record out on our own label, Pocket Kid Records, on April 10. That took a lot of stress off me as a guitar player and song writer. You will be playing the SXSW Festival in Austin then hitting the road with Chevelle and then, later this year, the Warped Tour. Does Dead Sara plan on being road warriors for all of 2012? Absolutely! We are all so excited to stay on the road from here till the end of the year and keep going after that. We all understand how hard it is to really "make it" in this industry and know we have a lot of hard work ahead of us and can't stop. We also love seeing our fans and making new ones along the way. Catch Dead Sara on tour in April and May and on the Vans Warp Tour, which starts June 16. For all the dates, visit the band's Facebook page or official website.

Dead Sara Announce First Tour in Three Years

Welcome back, Dead Sara ! Having released the new song "Hands Up" last fall, the band will soon return with their first tour in three years.

The Emily Armstrong-led band is planning to hit the road in September, starting with an appearance at Summerfest in Milwaukee, and they've got 2021 dates booked into November. The group also has their first 2022 appearance on the books as well, as they'll head out to sea on the ShipRocked cruise in January of next year.

“Turning up Willie Nelson’s 'On the Road Again' to get in the right mindset for our Fall tour and to fill the void from human contact deprivation,” said Armstrong. “We’ve missed y’all so much we could cry.”

The return to the road comes after a period of recording activity for the band who have spent the last 18 months writing and recording new material. " Hands Up " was the first taste of new music with more expected to eventually follow. The band is currently finishing up their third studio album, which will also serve as their first release for Warner Records.

Pre-sales for the newly announced headline shows will start on July 27 with VIP upgrades and other bonuses available via their official fan site at thedeadicated.com . The general public on-sale will kick off on Friday (July 30) at 10AM local time via their website . And stay tuned as more 2021 dates are expected to be added later this year.

Dead Sara Announce Initial Tour Dates Of 2022

One of our favorite bands around here at MendoWerks, Dead Sara is heading out on tour early in the new year with one of the world’s most famous guitarists’ side projects.

dead sara tour uk

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators is ramping up for dates in February. What we’re trying to say here is, if you’re going to the show, make sure you get in in time for Dead Sara.

The nearly month-long jaunt will kick off in Portland, Oregon, and wrap in Denver, Colorado a few weeks later. The main issue I have here is that this tour doesn’t cover more parts of the country.

Ain’t It Tragic is the latest studio album from Dead Sara and features the stand-out tracks “Hands Up,” “Losing My Mind” and “Heroes”. For a behind-the-scenes look at the recording of the album click here .

Dead Sara first broke through in 2012 on the strength of their single “ Weatherman “. They’ve had a string of critically acclaimed albums and singles and are ready to tour the world in the new year.

GENRE IS DEAD!

Interview: Emily Armstrong On The Rebirth Of Dead Sara And The Arduous Journey That Led To Their New Album

Dead Sara ’s third album, Ain’t It Tragic, has been a long time coming. What was supposed to be a fresh start for the band in 2018 soon turned into a calvary of obstacles. Miscommunication, bad management, and broken promises forced the band to take a step back and re-examine how to trudge forward. And just as the band was ready to emerge once again, the pandemic changed their plans. Rather than stop, they used all the frustration and hardship of the past two years to reinvigorate themselves. Now, they’re stronger than ever. With a revitalized sound, a stronger sense of confidence, and fearless ambition, Dead Sara is ready to reintroduce themselves to the world.

Before the release of their long-awaited third album and their fall tour, frontwoman Emily Armstrong sits down to talk with GENRE IS DEAD! about the hardships that got them to this point, learning how to break out of their own boundaries, and being true to who they really are.

GENRE IS DEAD: Before Dead Sara released “ Hands Up ” last year, it felt like we hadn’t heard from the band in a while. Temporary Things Taking Space came out in 2018 and you embarked on a tour that same year. Take me through what happened from there leading up to Ain’t It Tragic .

Emily Armstrong: Well at that point, we had a very shitty manager, I’ll say that, and I’m not usually one to blame other people for our misfortunes. It was a time where we were regathering everything and doing what we thought we needed to do, but it kind of steered in the wrong direction. We just needed to figure out what exactly we were. We had to get rid of bad management and regroup and do an album. Do something from the ground up that we absolutely love. So, we went back to Noah Shain, he did our first two albums, and Warner was interested in taking us, so we kind of got a second chance, which reinvigorated us into making something we thought was great and genuine.

And that kind of thing takes time – getting people on board and getting in the studio. We were ready to go in the studio. We were at that point where we were rehearsing, rehearsing, rehearsing and we had songs Warner liked. Cool, now we can go on tour. Then the pandemic happened. We were like fuck what are we gonna do? At that point, everyone was like go in and record in your rehearsal space. We were stoked about having so much control to do what we wanted to do and what we wanted to sound like but also not really knowing how to do it so that took a lot of time. Watching YouTube tutorials on certain microphones and Warner getting us whatever we needed in order to get things rolling and stuff. Then we got going on that. We set up a studio in our rehearsal space and recorded. It was trial and error.

GID: What was recording like once the lockdown was in place?

EA: Noah wasn’t really in the room with us anymore. We did FaceTime but by the end, we were in such a rhythm we already figured out how to do things by ourselves, you know? So, there was a very big momentum shift in our confidence. Instead of depending on other people, it was like opening ourselves up and really taking a hard look at the album and being really honest with what it sounded like or what it was and what we wanted people to hear. Not letting any outside [feedback] getting in. That’s why it took so long.

GID: Listening to the album it sounds like a rebirth for Dead Sara, which is what the 2018 EP was supposed to be. The new album has that raw, rock sound the band is known for, but it also sees you guys branching out and trying new things that take you by surprise. One song that stood out was “ Hypnotic .” It’s got this undeniable swagger, yet it’s very real with that line “I’m self-conscious.” It has that confidence but also reveals that layer of insecurity everyone has.

EA: Yeah exactly! That’s exactly what that is. Anxiety will eat you up and will take place of that confidence. That’s the world we live in right now. It’s looking at social media where you’re like fuck I’m not that pretty. I’m self-conscious, but hey, here I am! Fuck everything! That’s at the end where it’s like I don’t give a shit. I’m gonna live my life basically.

GID: Exactly! And with the pandemic, it’s easy to lean into that anxiety. Think about everyone talking about the bread they made, or the new skills that they picked up and you’re thinking I’m so depressed I can’t do anything.

EA: God yeah. Totally. I mean originally, it had a different jokier side to it. And then we asked what is this song? So, we practiced and made it into what it is now, like oh no I’m self-conscious but I’m also a fucking goddess. I got my fucking swagger. I’m on top of the world! That was cracked during the pandemic, but then there’s “Uninspired” which was written when I was in that depressed state of I don’t feel like anything’s gonna get better. That’s a weird position to be in where you’re like there’s something wrong with the world and you don’t want it to be this bad. I remember [drummer/programmer] Sean [Friday] was sitting at the boards and I just started singing “I’m uninspired by pretty boys in rock n roll bands.” I was being a little facetious and also being a little depressed It’s like how comedians always say dark things but it’s funny. That was really born from the idea of oh you’re so inspired! Why don’t you learn a new language? You can be all this kind of stuff and I’m like no. I’m not inspired. How about I sing a song about not being inspired instead of thinking what inspires me because it’s fucking nothing right now!

This world is dying! Will this be the future of our civilization? You start to really think that way. It gets very meta. So that song is very important. It’s just so real, you know? This shit is happening right now. That was the newest song we did because a lot of the songs were demos from a long time ago and when I say demo it’s like a shell. It had maybe a guitar riff, some idea of a song and a verse. Then we reworked the chords for every fucking song, added all this kind of stuff, wrote new lyrics and stuff like that. But we had to have this pandemic in order to do that. I hate to say that but like we were in there six days a week – Sean and I. Sean took over production a lot on this album. So, it was us two against the world. Obviously, [guitarist] Siouxsie [Medley] would be in there too; she takes care of a lot of her side as well, so we have a great dynamic. We also figured that out more because you kind of shift a lot as a group, figure out what’s working, and keep doing that.

GID: Another song that surprised me was “Starry Eyed.” I thought I was listening to another band for a bit! It’s this prog-rock anthem with a big hook, lots of 70s Styx-inspired synth, and even some different vocals from you. What inspired you guys to tap into this big 70s rock sound?

EA: We don’t necessarily think let’s sound like this or we’ve been listening to this so much, why don’t we do it like this? It’s kind of anything goes at the moment. Like wouldn’t it be cool to do this and then we feed off of each other with certain riffs. Then you start to think oh this song’s kind of like this or that. When it was first born it was very Joy Division. It was a very low vocal and a weird synth. That song was very very down. It never went up into this big thing. So that’s why it was initially called “Joy Division” and it stuck all the way until I changed it for the album.

When we started to really dive into it, I was trying really hard – I had to fight Sean a lot with it – to not make it sound so pop-rock. It was kind of easy to put it into [that category] because it’s a little upbeat. Finally, I was like if it has to be anything, it has to sound like The Killers . Let’s listen to a bunch of Killers and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. So, it had many years of fucking around with. You’ll hear all kinds of little things that were brought about from many different writing sessions trying to things figure out. At one point the end had a key change in the chorus that I was like dude no that’s not it! It went through so many changes and then I was like dude let’s make it sound like early Killers.

4 bodies found inside the Bayesian, Mike Lynch family yacht, amid search

Four bodies were recovered inside the Bayesian superyacht on Wednesday, more than two days after it sank off the coast of Italy , setting off an exhaustive search for six missing people, including British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch .

Two of the bodies discovered earlier on Wednesday were brought to shore. One body recovered was a heavily built man, Reuters reported.

Six of the ship's 22 passengers, including Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter, went missing after the yacht plunged under the water just before 5 a.m. on Monday as a storm swept across the area. Americans are among the missing, officials have said.

The U.K.-registered yacht belonged to Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, who was also on board and was rescued. The tech tycoon was recently acquitted on fraud charges after a year under house arrest.

Ricardo Thomas, the ship's cook, was found dead on Monday, according to the coast guard.

The rescue mission saw a diving team, helicopters and multiple coast guard ships deployed to search the water. Fifteen people were pulled from the water on Monday, and eight were hospitalized in stable condition.

A 'black swan event'? Experts puzzle over why Bayesian yacht sank

An investigation opened by local prosecutors into the cause of the disaster is ongoing. Experts have pointed to a water spout, a tornado over the water that can travel up to 120 mph, that formed during the storm, as well as the heavy weight of ship's mast, one of the largest in the world.

The 184-feet-long ship was made by Italian ship manufacturer Perini in 2008.

Lynch set off on the cruise late last month to celebrate his acquittal on fraud charges in the U.S. that marked a decade of legal challenges, the Associated Press reported .

One of his lawyers and a character witness for Lynch during the trial were also on board and vanished when the boat went down. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the four people found.

Here are the passengers who were declared missing.

Mike Lynch and Hannah Lynch

Mike Lynch, 59, is co-founder of Britain’s largest enterprise software, Autonomy, which was sold to Hewlett-Packard in 2011, and founder of venture capital fund Invoke Capital.

Sometimes known as “Britain’s Bill Gates,” Lynch was slapped with charges after HP said it had uncovered deceit and a major accounting scandal within the firm. He spent a year on house arrest after being extradited from the UK.

In early June, at the end of a 12-week trial, a San Francisco jury acquitted Lynch of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He was also cleared on a charge of securities fraud later that month.

Lynch and Bacares have two daughters and six dogs, all named after engineering parts, according to the U.K.’s Sunday Times in a profile of Lynch from last month.

Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, was also among the missing. She was preparing to study English literature at Oxford University, according to the Sunday Times.

Hannah is the younger of Mike Lynch’s two daughters, the Times reported . Mike Lynch told the outlet that his daughters had grown up with their father being publicly accused of fraud.

Jonathan Bloomer and Judy Bloomer

Jonathan Bloomer is the non-executive chairman of both Morgan Stanley International and the insurer Hiscox, among other companies. Bloomer acted as a character witness on Lynch’s behalf during his fraud trial.

Hiscox Chief Executive Aki Hussain told Reuters in a statement that the firm was deeply shocked and saddened and their thoughts were with all those affected.

Bloomer’s twin brother, Jeremy, told BBC that he is processing the news and the family is waiting to hear updates.

“He was my elder by half an hour, so, it means a lot when you lose a twin brother,” Jeremy Bloomer told BBC. “We’ll still wait and see, so it’s fingers crossed.”

Jonathan Bloomer’s wife, Judy, is a psychotherapist of nearly three decades and former teacher. She specializes in anxiety and stress. She studied English language and literature at Homerton College in Cambridge.

Christopher Morvillo and Neda Morvillo

A lawyer with Clifford Chance, Chris Morvillo was among the team that represented Mike Lynch during his trial. Morvillo is an American citizen.

He was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1999 to 2005, and he worked on the criminal investigation stemming from the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Morvillo was a graduate of Fordham University School of Law and Villanova University.

Neda Morvillo, his wife, owns a hand-crafted jewelry company under her maiden name, Neda Nassiri. The company’s website said she has been designing and making jewelry for over 20 years.

In a post on LinkedIn after the conclusion of Lynch’s trial, Chris Morvillo acknowledged his family for their support during the case.

“And, finally, a huge thank you to my patient and incredible wife, Neda Morvillo, and my two strong, brilliant, and beautiful daughters, Sabrina Morvillo and Sophia Morvillo.  None of this would have been possible without your love and support. I am so glad to be home.

And they all lived happily ever after…."

Oasis have announced their long-awaited reunion tour , 15 years after the infamous backstage bust-up between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.

The Manchester-formed group, one of the defining rock bands of the Nineties, split in 2009 after a fiery row in Paris and have not played together since.

In a highly anticipated message, the band announced a run of 14 shows in the UK and Ireland next summer.

“The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised,” the band said.

The dates in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin will be Oasis’s “only shows in Europe next year”, it’s been confirmed. Find details on how to get tickets here.

There have been a number of hints in recent months, not least a surprise interview last week where Noel offered some rare praise of his younger brother. Both he and Liam have enjoyed successful solo careers since their split – Liam as a singer-songwriter and Noel with his band the High Flying Birds.

See below for the latest updates on the Oasis reunion...

With the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe just days away, here’s The Independent ’s Mark Beaumont making the case for why Oasis have chosen the ideal moment to reform:

Why this is the perfect moment for an Oasis reunion

Rumours of a Liam-Noel reunion have dragged on for as long as a soppy soap storyline but with a renewed love for Britpop and the 30th anniversary of ‘Definitely Maybe’, Mark Beaumont makes the case for why 2024 is the ideal moment for Oasis to reform

John Lennon once said The Beatles were “more popular than Jesus”. A controversial claim, perhaps, but can it really be true that the return of Oasis will be bigger than Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour mania? One music expert thinks so:

Oasis ticket demand will ‘absolutely dwarf’ that of Taylor Swift, says music expert

The demand for tickets to see the rumoured Oasis reunion will “absolutely dwarf” that seen for Taylor Swift’s tour, a music expert has said. Noel and Liam Gallagher seem poised to announce a shock, long-awaited reunion tour on Tuesday 27 August, 15 years after the notorious fallout between the two brothers put the band on hiatus. If they announce a comeback. former music journalist and DJ Kevin McManus believes the fight for seats will be bigger than what any artist has ever experienced. “Taylor Swift is obviously the big deal this summer, but I think it’s going to absolutely dwarf that,” he told ITV News.

The band’s reunion has led to a style resurgence in parkas, polos and pea coats.

There’s always one isn’t there... Journalist Paul Clements isn’t mad fer it, in fact he reckons there’s a dozen Nineties bands he’d rather see than Oasis. One of them, apparently, is a band called ‘Deuce’. Here’s what he has to say:

The speculation – and who knows, even the greatest feud in rock history – is finally over. Here, The Independent ’s Zoë Beaty reveals how the writing was on the (wonder) wall long before today, but warns that with a year to go before the band goes live, there are still a few bumps in the road ahead…

Inside the Oasis reunion – and who really made it happen

The speculation – and who knows, even the greatest feud in rock history – is finally over. Zoë Beaty reveals how the writing was on the (wonder) wall long before today, but warns that with a year to go before the band goes live, there are still a few bumps in the road ahead…

Manchester promises ‘good party right across the city’ to celebrate Oasis reunion

Bev Craig, leader of Manchester City Council, who represents the Burnage ward, where the brothers grew up, said the news of the band’s reunion was “massive”.

She told the PA news agency: “I think Oasis is one of Manchester’s most iconic bands in the modern age, and obviously we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make sure that this could come off, and that they’d be able to play in Manchester in a fantastic homecoming gig.

“And I think it’s just really, really great. It’s great for the city, the city’s changed a lot since Oasis were last together, hopefully significantly for the better on the world stage, but we’ll still be really happy to be host to the two Burnage boys as they reunite and come together in (council-run) Heaton Park.”

She added: “I think the whole city will be excited next summer, and I think we’ll no doubt see lots of events and activities that will sit alongside this and really, I think, celebrate it for the moment that it is.

“So I think we’ll make sure that we put on a good party right across the city for people to enjoy.”

Fans concerned about Oasis ticket prices and whether reconciliation will last

Glaswegian David Walker, a leading member of the Oasis Collectors Group, told the PA news agency that he also remains worried about if Liam and Noel Gallagher will make it through their tour without another bust-up .

He said: “You wonder if they’ll make it through the tour, how are they going to rehearse? There’s been so many little infractions with them, you wonder, like, is the old stuff going to come up again?

“But no, ultimately, right now, very positive and yeah, it’s what the people want. It’s what, arguably, Britain might want right now, because, everyone’s fairly depressed and don’t have a lot of money.

“ As long as the tickets are, you know, reasonably priced, I suppose, which they probably won’t be, because there’ll be so much demand, there’s talk of like, 10 nights at London, which that might only be the tip of the iceberg. There might even be more than that.”

Malayali man takes own life after wife's death in the UK

 alt=

Kottayam: A Keralite man was found dead in London just days after his wife’s death. Anil Cherian (Ronnie, 44) from Valiyapparambil House in Panachikkadu was found dead in a deserted area near his house on Tuesday morning.

Anil’s wife, Sonia Sara Ipe (39), had collapsed and died at their London home earlier this week. Sonia, a nurse in the UK, had recently visited Kerala for 10 days for leg surgery. She collapsed within an hour of returning home on Sunday. Though rushed to the hospital immediately, she could not be saved.

Before his death, Anil sent a message to his friends. He asked them to look after his children and stated that he was going to be with his wife. Sonia's body remains in the morgue awaiting a post-mortem examination. The couple is survived by their children, Lisa and Louise.

When is the Rings of Power season 2 release date in the UK?

Morfydd Clark as Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

It’s been two years since The Lord of the Rings : The Rings of Power first premiered on Amazon Prime Video , and the series is now back for season 2.

As the release date nears, fans are curious to find out where the tale set in Middle-earth will go next, as the menacing Sauron grows in strength and the Rings of Power are created.

Many of the original cast members are returning to reprise their roles, including Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramyo as Elrond, Charlie Vickers as Halbrand (aka Sauron) and Sophia Nomvete as Disa.

There are also some new additions to the cast, including Game of Thrones actor Ciarán Hinds as the Dark Wizard.

So when’s the second season of Rings of Power being released and what time can you watch the new episodes? Here’s everything you need to know.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is returning for its second season almost two years after its first was released on Prime Video.

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video

Season two will consist, yet again, of eight episodes, with the first three coming out on the same day on Thursday August 29.

The rest of the episodes will then be released on a weekly basis, with the finale streaming on Thursday October 3.

The previous season aired from early September until mid-October in 2022.

When is The Rings of Power season 2 episode 1 UK release time?

Each episode of Rings of Power is set to be available to watch on Prime Video from 8am BST, which would be midnight Pacific Time in the US, and 3am Eastern Time.

Charlie Vickers as Sauron in Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

So – chances are you might have to wait until your lunch break or until you’ve finished work for the day to catch up on the latest episodes.

Be wary of spoilers on social media before you have a chance to catch up!

Where was The Rings of Power filmed?

While the Lord of the Rings film trilogy was famously filmed in New Zealand , only the first season of Rings of Power followed suit.

Ismael Cruz Córdova as Arondir; Maxim Baldry as Isildur; Nia Towle as Estrid in Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

For the second outing, the action-packed fantasy show relocated its production to the UK.

In an interview with Deadline , Vernon Sanders, the head of global TV at Amazon Studios, promised that there were ‘expansive things happening in season two’ as the show ventured to ‘new lands’.

‘Part of the benefit of being in the UK is that we’re going to be able to shoot in places that look very different than what we saw in season one,’ he said.

‘We’re able to shoot all across Europe, and we will see some of that production value on screen.’

How many Rings of Power were made?

At the very beginning of Lord of the Rings, Cate Blanchett ’s character Galadriel – who’s played by Morfydd Clark in Rings of Power – tells the tale of the ‘forging of the Great Rings’.

‘Three were given to the Elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven to the Dwarf-Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power,’ she says.

‘For within these rings was bound the strength and the will to govern each race. But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made.

‘Deep in the land of Mordor, in the Fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged a master ring, and into this ring he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life.

‘One ring to rule them all.’

So in total, 20 Rings of Power were created – but as fans know, the One Ring was the most dangerous and powerful.
