DETHKLOK Announces Spring 2024 Tour With DRAGONFORCE And NEKROGOBLIKON

DETHKLOK will embark on the "Mutilation On A Spring Night" tour in the spring. Running from April 7 through May 3, the trek, produced by Live Nation , will see support from DRAGONFORCE and NEKROGOBLIKON .

A special BLABBERMOUTH.NET presale will begin on Wednesday, February 7 at 10:00 a.m. local and end on Thursday, February 8 at 10:00 p.m. local time. DETHKLOK is an illustrated/animated virtual powerhouse, occupying an elite space alongside GORILLAZ . Except DETHKLOK is bigger, better, more brutal, and totally legendary.

The world's most brutal band are the stars of the "Metalocalypse" TV series and films, co-created by Brendon Small . Revolver magazine calls the writer, director, and composer the "musical mastermind" behind DETHKLOK . A vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Small has made four DETHKLOK albums and assorted releases with legendary metal drummer Gene Hoglan ( DARK ANGEL , DEATH , TESTAMENT , STRAPPING YOUNG LAD ).

"I love bands that celebrate guitar and bands that have a lot of fun onstage. I also love bands that don't, but for this tour, I think it makes sense to have a lot of dragons, goblins, and 'kloks together," says Small . "If you're going to do this, you gotta go big and over the top. This is going to be a very fun show for people."

Last year's "Babyklok" co-headlining trek was the first DETHKLOK tour in over a decade. "I had no idea how much fun the 'Babyklok' tour would be," remembers Small . "The BABYMETAL girls are delightful, like three princesses from outer space, great singers, and great dancers. Their band is bonkers good. I magically found my way into this parallel universe. The show itself is a great challenge as a vocalist, guitar player, and multitasker. The goal is always to put on the absolute best show that I can."

2023 saw a flurry of activity from the melodic death metal titans. "Army Of The Doomstar" was a sequel to "Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem" , released in 2013. 2023 also saw the release of the "Army of the Doomstar Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" . "Dethalbum IV" was the most celebrated album of the band's career, boasting unstoppable anthems like "Aortic Desecration" , "SOS" and "Gardener Of Vengeance" .

" 'Dethalbum IV' is a fantastic death metal album," wrote New Noise . "Despite DETHKLOK being an animated band, the music is very real, delivering that scratch to itch the need for good metal."

Rolling Stone named "Dethalbum IV" one of the 11 best metal albums of 2023. "The first DETHKLOK album in more than a decade is totally brutal — and totally worth the wait," they declared. Adult Swim aired four seasons of "Metalocalypse" from 2006 to 2013. Premiere global and media entertainment company Warner Bros. Discovery distributes the "Metalocalypse" series and feature films.

"I knew taking on this project meant I'd have to wring everything out of the sponge to make it all work," Small says of the massive effort put behind the series, movies, albums, and soundtracks. "But this is how I have fun, putting it together, and having the luxury of writing, directing, producing, and making music for something and seeing it all the way through. And when you have great collaborators, everyone elevates each other. I have to deliver everything I can, so I'm proud of it, and they are proud to participate in it."

Dethklok will return this spring for another round of headlining U.S. tour dates. This time around, special guests include DragonForce and Nekrogoblikon. Tickets go on sale this Friday (9th) at 10:00 am local time via this location . 

Brendon Small comments: 

“I love bands that celebrate guitar and bands that have a lot of fun onstage. I also love bands that don’t, but for this tour, I think it makes sense to have a lot of dragons, goblins, and ‘kloks together. If you’re going to do this, you gotta go big and over the top. This is going to be a very fun show for people.”

Last year’s Babyklok co-headlining trek was the first Dethklok tour in over a decade, which supported the new film Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar and album Dethalbum IV .

Dethklok have announced a Spring US tour with support from DragonForce and Nekrogoblikon .

The “Mutilation on a Spring Night Tour” kicks off April 7th in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and runs through May 3rd in Portland, Oregon.

Is there such a thing as a virtual band? That’s certainly the category that Gorillaz have claimed to fall into all these years, although whether that’s actually truly been the case is probably up for debate, bearing in mind that the narratives that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett actually created for their animated characters was usually a muddled, half-baked one. That’s not really an accusation you can reasonably level at Dethklok, who come fron an impressive background conceptually; they appeared on the Adult Swim cartoon Metalocalypse, and went on to prove so popular that an actual, real-life band was assembled to tour the world playing their songs. They’ve gone from strength to strength since, releasing four full-length albums - the most recent dropping last years - and touring extensively. Their shows tend to be ridiculously technical affairs, as evidenced by a slew of U.S. dates throughout 2012; they brought their trademark warped sense of humour to the table, as well as some furious riffery, to delight their American fans. Their British counterparts, however, have been waiting a while for some new shows; they’ll be hoping some are pencilled in sooner rather than later, in support of last year’s The Doomstar Requiem.

Dethklok Plot First Tour in 10 Years, Co-Headliner With Babymetal, Promise ‘Dethalbum IV’

Dethklok, the brutal band of  Adult Swim 's  Metalocalypse  spearheaded by shredder mastermind Brendon Small , will return to the road this summer for their first proper tour in a decade. The 2023 "BABYKLOK" package finds them trekking across North America with co-headliners Babymetal .

"I'm so excited to get on the road with the powerful Babymetal," Small says, "and to celebrate all the hard work that team Metalocalypse and Dethklok put in over the last two years and beyond!"

Dethklok revealed the tour with Babymetal on Tuesday (April 11) in an announcement that also promised two further Deathklok albums, one of which is a soundtrack to an upcoming Dethklok film, Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar . The non-soundtrack effort is the anticipated  Dethalbum IV . Release dates are forthcoming.  Read more about those here.

The BABYKLOK tour is Dethklok's first extended live outing in over a decade. Since 2019, Dethklok have  played only one show , at 2022's Adult Swim Festival . Their last nationwide tour was in 2012.

Metalocalypse , the original series Small co-created, first premiered on Adult Swim in 2006 and established a metal audience with its lovable cartoon band of mischievous musicians.

Liam Gallagher wants ‘established acts’ to support Oasis on their reunion tour

Oasis are still to work out which acts will support them on their huge 2025 reunion tour, but frontman Liam Gallagher is apparently keen to give fans the best show possible.

While several reports have claimed various bands are already lined up to open for the British rock band at their shows in London, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh and Manchester, The Independent understands that brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher have yet to sit down and discuss which artists they want.

However, Liam is said to be eager to bring a few big rock acts on board.

“Liam is keen for established acts so it will probably take a bit of back and forth before anything’s confirmed,” a source close to the band told The Independent.

The source also dismissed reports that Villanelle, the emerging rock band fronted by Liam’s son Gene, have already been booked to support Oasis next year.

“They haven’t even discussed it,” they said, pointing out that Villanelle previously toured with Liam during his 2024 Definitely Maybe anniversary tour .

The Independent understands that Gene wants his band to find success on their own merit.

Other acts rumoured to be in the running are Kasabian , fronted by Liam’s close friend Serge Pizzorno, and Brit Award-nominated, Stockport-formed group Blossoms.

Responding to a fan question about potential support acts this week, Liam appeared to suggest he wasn’t blown away by what was on offer: “Most of them are proper zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,” he wrote.

Oasis announced their long awaited reunion last month, unveiling plans for a major tour that will include multiple dates at London’s Wembley Stadium and Heaton Park in Manchester.

They later said that a further two dates at Wembley had been added for September, after thousands of fans struggled to buy tickets when they first went on sale on 31 August.

In a press release, it was announced on Wednesday (September 4) that a new “invitation-only ballot ticket sale strategy” has been devised for the two new Wembley shows “as a small step towards making amends for the situation”.

“Applications to join the ballot will be opened first to the many fans who were unsuccessful in the initial on sale with Ticketmaster,” the statement adds.

It also promises to be “far smoother for fans by reducing the stress and time it takes to obtain” tickets.

Those who missed out on the tickets last weekend should have now received an email asking them to enter the ballot as well as a new quiz question.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Oasis have topped the charts for the first time in 14 years , as their debut Definitely Maybe makes its return following the reunion announcement.

Released 30 years ago , the record is back at No 1 thanks to the release of its anniversary deluxe edition, which features previously unreleased material including the Monnow Valley sessions, outtakes from the band’s recordings at Sawmills studio in Cornwall, and an alternative demo of “Sad Song”.

According to the Official Albums Chart, Definitely Maybe enjoyed a 408 per cent week-on-week uplift in sales, with more than 50 per cent coming from vinyl sales.

Two other Oasis albums have also entered the Top Five: their 2009 greatest hits compilation Time Flies... 1994-2009, at No 3, and their record-breaking second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? at No 4.

Meanwhile, three of the guitars played by Noel Gallagher during the recording of Definitely Maybe are up for auction at Sotheby’s this week, as part of its inaugural pop culture event.

The we’re-never-going-to-play-together-again-to-lucrative-reunion trail is well-worn at this point — just ask such famously feuding acts as the Eagles, Guns ‘N Roses, Pixies and, most recently and famously, Oasis: If there’s a windfall, there’s a way.

But the true joy clearly came from shouting along with Doughty, who encouraged the audience to count to 100 with him in “Casiotone Nation” (which sort of makes sense in context) and, in the final encore of “Super Bon Bon,” to yelp the refrain “Too fat, fat / You must cut lean / You better take the elevator to the mezzanine” (not so much). Will this tour win over new fans to Soul Coughing’s sometimes impenetrable music? Probably not, but it doesn’t matter: for those that care, every one of these shows, however many they end up doing before angrily splitting up again, just might be one of the best nights ever.

I f you travel from Moscow to Yamal by train you will start by heading north on the Moscow – Archangel line that was built in the late 19th Century. However, at the town of Kotlas you will branch off and start heading north-west towards Vorkuta. This whole railway was built by gulag prisoners under Stalin.

Before reaching Vorkuta you will branch off again at a station called Chum and head east towards the Polar Ural Mountains and, on the other side of them, the railway station of Labytnangi on Yamal. The Chum-Labytnangi railway was also built entirely by gulag prisoners. If you know where to look, you can find the remains of gulag buildings off in the tundra and mountains not far from the tracks.

The Chum-Labytnangi Railway was part of a much larger project. Stalin tried to build a 1500km railway along the Arctic Circle from Chum to the town of Igarka on the Yenisey River. The goal was to transport nickel from the town of Norilsk (on the Taymyr Peninsula) to Dudinka by road, then down the Yenisey River to Igarka and then by railway to European Russia. When Stalin died, the railway had almost been completed, with only 100km remaining unfinished in the middle. The project was quickly abandoned after Stalin’s death and today

only the section from Chum to Labytnangi remains in operation.

However, the tracks, many railway bridges and several large gulag camps have miraculously remained very well-preserved, hidden away in the forest tundra of central Yamal. Some of the biggest camps have up to twenty wooden buildings that you can explore, as well as watch towers, barbed wire fences and more.  

If you take the winter road from Salekhard to Nadym, you will pass through exactly this area. However, even most locals do not know the location of most of the good gulag camps, as they are often a short distance away from the road and hidden by the forest. Make sure you take a good guide with you (ie. one of ours!).

This is also exactly the area that the Yar-Sale nomads from the Yamal Peninsula are camped in from January to March. If visiting them at this time, we always include a visit to the gulags in our trips at no extra cost.
