Grand Theft Auto 5 Dog Visits Its Owner's Grave Every Day
A depressing old Grand Theft Auto 5 Easter egg featuring a loyal dog is back in the spotlight after a TikTok video about it goes viral.
Rockstar Games likes to fill its vast open worlds with all kinds of Easter eggs for fans to discover, and Grand Theft Auto 5 is certainly no exception to that rule. Grand Theft Auto 5 has countless Easter eggs for players to find, to the point where players are still finding ones that they didn't know about years later. One Grand Theft Auto 5 Easter egg in particular has been getting attention again lately, as it seems many fans were unaware of its existence.
If players visit the cemetery in Grand Theft Auto 5 when playing as Franklin (it's possible that the Easter egg works with Michael and Trevor as well, but it generally seems to happen more often with Franklin), they will find a dog walking around by itself. If players follow the dog, it will lead them to a grave, presumably the grave of their dead owner. This is likely a nod to Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye Terrier from Edinburgh that spent 14 years visiting the grave of its deceased owner.

While this particular Grand Theft Auto 5 Easter egg has been known about for years, a TikTok account named hiddengamingdetails has thrust it back into the public eye. A TikTok showcasing the Easter egg has been over 200,000 times and has amassed nearly 45,000 likes and over 600 comments at the time of this writing.
This Grand Theft Auto 5 Easter egg is rather depressing, but there are others in the game that aren't quite so heartbreaking. For example, one Grand Theft Auto 5 Easter egg lets players spot an alien frozen in a lake, and there are plenty of Easter eggs that reference Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as well.
Fans are still hunting down Grand Theft Auto 5 Easter eggs nearly a decade after its release, but hopefully Rockstar Games gives them something new to play soon. There are plenty of rumors about Grand Theft Auto 6 , but nothing has been officially announced for the game just yet. Rumors and leaks suggest that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be set in Vice City and may feature both male and female protagonists, though fans should take any information about the game with a grain of salt for now.
While GTA fans wait for news on Grand Theft Auto 6 , they can keep hunting down Easter eggs in Grand Theft Auto 5 's story mode as well as GTA Online . Some think that they have even found GTA 6 Easter eggs hidden in the game, but that remains to be seen.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is out now for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.

GTA 5 fans discover heartbreaking detail 10 years after release
Featured Image Credit: Rockstar Games
When it wants to, GTA V can eschew the violence and adult content to bring some wonderful heartfelt moments. Just one such moment is being discovered years after release by players new and old.
The moment in question occurs in the GTA V 's Los Santos cemetery where, every day, a small dog wanders in and keeps vigil at its owner's grave. If you want to see it for yourself, you can find the dog around 11am in-game time.
GTA V is still shedding its secrets even a decade after release.
This touching moment is based on the real life story of a dog, Bobby, that would visit his owner's grave for 14 years. Once Bobby died, he was buried just metres away from John Gray so that owner and doggo could stay close.
While this detail has been in the wild for a while, many players are just now discovering it . It's a very small easter egg after all. Among all the players astonished that they never knew this happened are those expressing joy at Rockstar Games for including this, over on Twitter : "The attention to detail is unbelievable," said one fan. "Man, this is heartbreaking," said another user. Then there are those who are speculating about how much detail we'll see in GTA VI .
One of the best comments has to be from a Twitter user called Sanjay who said, "Nah bro. Why would you put this on my feed? BRB, gonna go cry and hug my dog."
This detail was added as the story comes from Edinburgh, the home of Rockstar North which added a little touch of the developer's home city, a detail noticed by one Twitter user: "I love it when developers pay homage to their home." This feature is adorable and well worth seeing for yourself. Then go hug your dog.

A dog in GTA 5 visits the owner’s grave every day
Rockstar Games loves to fill its game worlds with various Easter eggs and details that are invisible even from the second or third time. And GTA 5 still, many years after its release, reveals secrets for many gamers that most of us have not heard of.
Recently it turned out that if you come to the cemetery in Los Santos, you can see a dog that walks by itself. According to the players, this happens most often when playing as Franklin. If you follow the dog, it turns out that he comes to the grave, which has a bouquet of flowers, presumably, the owner of the dog is buried in it. Apparently this is a reference to a Skye Terrier named Bobby from Edinburgh, who visited his master’s grave for 14 years.
Some players have known about this Easter egg for a long time, but it attracted widespread attention recently, when one of the gamers posted a video on TikTok that collected hundreds of thousands of views.
On the one hand, this video is a little sad, on the other, it perfectly demonstrates what tricks the Rockstar team is ready to go to in order to create a game with a detailed and living world, where, in addition to the main story, threads of various lives are connected.
Even more than 7 years after the release, fans of Easter eggs and conspiracy theories are convinced that the game has not revealed all its cards. Someone believes that in GTA 5, the developers laid some secrets about GTA 6, others continue to comb the map in search of undiscovered secrets that arise when certain conditions are met.

2d universe [ ].
While not making a physical appearance in the original Grand Theft Auto , a dog named Sasha appears as an objective during the mission Heist Almighty - Introduction . The GTA Protagonist must rescue the dog who is being held captive by a kidnapper. After paying the ransom money, they must deliver the dog (locked in the trunk of a car) to his owner, Bubby .
3D Universe [ ]
Dogs are never featured in any of the 3D Universe video games, but they are mentioned several times by in-game characters. A dog by the name of Hugo is mentioned on Chatterbox FM in GTA III . The dog is owned by Jane and her son Sam.
In Grand Theft Auto III , it is mentioned in an article written for the game that Liberty City council has recently upheld a ban on dogs. Despite this, it is possible to hear a dog barking in Hepburn Heights as well, but the dog is never seen whatsoever, as this sound is merely a part of the background ambience noise. Dogs are also mentioned by Marty Chonks , owner of Bitch'n'Dog Food , claiming that the dogs of Liberty City will enjoy "a new flavor" .
In Grand Theft Auto Advance , Pat has a dog named Poochie , but he is only mentioned in the game. A billboard advertising the Poop Dog Food brand in Portland View features an image of a dog.
In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories , Phil Collins mentions that his manager, Barry Mickelthwaite , previously managed a talking dog named Puddles .
HD Universe [ ]
In Grand Theft Auto IV , the sound of dogs barking is a scripted ambience noise in the game, but they can never be seen. Dogs are only mentioned by in-game characters, like Hossan , who has said that he will get a dog, Alex Chilton saying she owns a chihuahua named Valentino, and Kat Williams jokes that he's never seen a dog or cat before in Liberty City . Signs can be found around the city warning dog owners about letting their dogs foul on the street, with a fine of $ 1000.
In Grand Theft Auto V , dogs are now physically seen in-game. Dogs are usually seen following their owner. Other times, dogs tend to spawn next to a house, while their owner sits nearby watching. Some dogs are known to attack the player if they or their owners are physically provoked, or if the player tries to invade their home. Some breeds, however, will simply run away from the player if they shoot or harm it.
If they get separated from their owner in the city or elsewhere, they have been seen to walk back to their original house or any house to sit and wait. A player under attack, if unable to climb or flee, can save himself by beating, immolating or shooting the dog to death. A Stun Gun will neither kill a large dog nor discourage it from attacking, although the beast may be temporarily stunned.
One of the two named dogs in Grand Theft Auto V is Chop , a Rottweiler owned by Lamar Davis . Franklin can engage in several activities with Chop, including walking him and playing fetch with a ball . The second is named Dexie , and owned by Kerry McIntosh . This dog is involved with the mission to retrieve a souvenir from her , in which Trevor chases the dog after it escapes, and steals its collar for the Vinewood-obsessed English tourists Nigel & Mrs. Thornhill .
When switching into Franklin after Caida Libre , he may be found playing in a nearby field with a Rottweiler that looks exactly like Chop, but isn't (Chop's icon can still be seen back at Franklin's house). This may be a glitch, as once the player gains control of Franklin he cannot interact further with the dog, who proceeds to leave the vicinity. This isn't an issue in the enhanced version of the game.
In the mission Risk Assessment , Franklin comes across a mysterious barking dog in Vinewood Hills , and seems to somehow understand its barking. The dog appears again in Uncalculated Risk , under similar circumstances.
Sometimes, a West Highland Terrier can be seen walking around the cemetery at the Hill Valley Church in Pacific Bluffs . It will stop by a headstone with a bouquet of flowers laid next to it and remain there, presumably visiting the grave of its owner.
The Ballas also own dogs. These dogs will attack the player if the Ballas have been provoked to attack. The dogs will also attack any nearby cops if they engage the Ballas. Canine involvement is particularly known to happen during altercations on Grove Street . Rednecks in Sandy Shores may also own a dog that will attack anyone who attacks its owner. A man will also frequently be seen walking his dog through the Sandy Shores Airfield . Also, it is possible to find Security Guards patrolling a vicinity with a guard dog that will engage the player if he engages the guard or commits a crime in the area.
Dogs of various breeds can often be found by themselves or with their owners along the various beaches in San Andreas, such as those along the north side of Paleto Bay .
In Grand Theft Auto Online , the player can transform into dogs of various breeds (including Chop from Grand Theft Auto V ) after eating a peyote plant .

In GTA V , there are a total of seven different dog breeds (although five of them are exclusive to the enhanced version), ranging from Rottweilers , Golden Retrievers , Poodles , Border Collies , Huskies , Pugs and Westies .

- In Grand Theft Auto IV , people sometimes say "I thought dogs were banned in this city!" if Niko does something aggressive. It's possible that this is a nod to GTA III and the aforementioned dog ban.
- The mysterious dog which features in some of Dom Beasley 's missions bears similarities to title characters in various classic TV series featuring heroic animals, most notably dogs, such as Lassie , Rin Tin Tin , Hobo , and countless other variations using other animals, such as Flipper and Skippy , the theme of which is always based around the hero animal finding someone in distress or a dangerous situation and garners the attention of nearby humans for help, or using specialized animal abilities to assist their human companions.
- If an NPC were to fire a weapon anywhere near a dog, it may become hostile towards the NPC and may maul him/her to death. This can lead to bizarre situations in which an NPC or the player shoots a gun near both LSPD officers and a dog, and finds themselves being chased by both.
- The sound of a dog barking can be heard upon approaching Lester's house . This sound is likely a recording, as it has a looped quality to it and the sound stops after the player enters Lester's House. The actual dog is never seen, and Lester never appears with it at any point in Grand Theft Auto V or Grand Theft Auto Online .
