Top 5 airlines serving from india to manila.

A 16 hour flight from Singapore to Los Angeles had only 2 meals. It would be great to have 3 meals.

Once again the meal served was delicious - we got chicken rice

Overall good experience, convenient Changi Airport, even the layover was long.

The experience was poor in comparison to the flight to Manado from Singapore via Scoot. Gate against could only check in stroller to Singapore (by clearing immigration) or to Brisbane. Who is able to carry their baby for 7 hour transit without having to enter Singapore?

Good airlines, travelled 🧳 n Singapore multiple times and experience is consistent

The flight was very late, sitting on the plane for over an hour and missed our connecting flight from Singapore to LA. As senior citizens, we were rerouted to Copenhagen and then to LA. They should not do this to senior citizens. They should have given us a hotel voucher for a night, then catch a flight to LA the next day. Singapore Airlines should grant us some kind of credit for the next trip, if they want us to fly with them. I doubt if we will ever hear from them.

I had to change a flight date and it cost me $800.00 dollars. In the past, if there was room on the flight(which there was), Singapore Airlines simply re-booked me. This might have occurred because the office in Bali where I could interface with a human face to face is now closed since COVID. I naively figured the ability to change my flight into my decision to go with Singapore Airlines as it does cost a bit more. I will still fly on them as they are superior to the other carriers by a fairly large margin, especially for my needs.

I was traveling with my 3 minor children, one leg I was seated two aisles behind them. On the longest leg I would have preferred sitting across the aisle from them, not behind. My youngest is 4yos. I understand airplane seating configurations are not the airlines problem but seating the one adult with a reservation apart from the minors was very difficult.

Awesome! Was impressed with the hospitality and the thoughtful services. The cabin attendants were superb.

Leg room and flight sound insulation is very bad. They broke 3 of my bags with bad handling

Overall things were very good and orderly. The food was very good but I want able to get a second drink very easily, so that could have been better for services. The seats seemed to be lacking legroom but I'm also 6'1" so I'm used to wanting more legroom but the plane seemed smaller then others when it came to legroom. My kids all enjoyed the entertainment as did I so that was perfect!

The flight attendants ignored us several times which was annoying. The sandwich thing wasn't very good but it's only an hour flight, it would have been better to have entertainment over bad food.

It was good overall. At 6 foot 1 it's hard to say anything seat on a flight is comfortable but it would be nice to have more legroom. The meals were good but would have liked to get wine much sooner.

Extra seat belt across the chest 10 minutes before taking off and 15 minutes before landing seemed excessively safe.

The transfer from Domestic and International was a bit confusing but I am easily confused. I did not eat any food, but the food on the other leg was decent. It was nice they turned the lights off on the night flight. The plane was in good shape, but was a little cramped in economy and I am small. They gave me a customs form to fill out and nobody looked at it as I went through customs. Not a bad flight.

My case was missing a wheel on arrival Heathrow and the staff were unhelpful when i tried to get some compensation stating it was not sufficient damage, i only wish that they at some point have to deal with the same situation it put me in, maybe they would change their attitude but overall it was a good flight

We are satisfied with the cabin crew serviceand the quality of meals served.

The aircraft was really old, the staff demotivated and the overall United airline service is horrible

Lunch Food was tasteful and had variety. Seat was comfortable. However, when I was reserving my seats during booking, the seat configuration showed was 3-3-3, but when I boarded it was a 2-4-2 configuration? Also during booking, I had also bought travel insurance together with my TG booking. However there was no confirmation of my purchase from Allianz and TG. After several emails with TG contact, sales, reservation and Allianz was i able to confirm my insurance purchase. When the policy was issued, the birth dates of me and my wife were wrongly stated and I had to go through another round of emails with Allianz to get it corrected. Otherwise any claims would be void! It was indeed not a very good booking experience!

Increase the number of available films, including variety. All other aspects were great.

The employees are very nice and good. The delay due to the aircraft is not a good thing. Planning for such problems should be an easy task.

I booked Flexi ticket, Paid extra for extra legroom seat. What I got was worst ever place to sit. It was an emergency exit seat with lots of legroom but half of the seat was occupied with aircraft body. Means you don’t keep that seat where a passenger can’t sit. The seats are too narrow. Whole night I was awake. Not movable armrests. One of the worst.

The flight was cancelled. I wasn't informed where to check in, how and when. It wasn't easy to get in contact with Cathay service representative, and they were not very helpful... The staff on the airport - Air Canada (I assume) were the most helpful, kind efficient, patient... Thank you for all your help and care, for your patience, for your professionalism!!!

The first economy rows have remote space in the seat which eats in the seating space. The seats are also smaller compared to other airlines.

The overall flight went well and the aircrew was pleasant.

Very comfortable Prem economy seats for a long haul flight. Had a problem with the tv that the crew fixed so was great!

Excellent. Planes are a little older and could get some refurbishment, but besides that everything was excellent.

Not impressed with check in desk staff at Vancouver airport. Not a professional mind service and not cared or tried to help. Don’t think I would fly with them again

Seats were very comfortable. Crew were excellent. Food very good.

Flight crew was especially thoughtful and attentive, made sure our seats were comfortable so we could rest on the long flight

Did not take as cancelled 3 time so took another airline

It was a 2-hour flight so they didn't have much time for serving food. There was some turbulence so they could not serve hot coffee or tea for the safety reason. Good service, good tasting food, nice plane, a little bit of delay.

The IFE is quite unconvenient if using our own device. Not all passenger brought their own earphone/headphone.

Ok, but legspace on MH0127 from Kul to Per was too small. It was not possible to tilt my seat which I don't understand because the seat in front of my could do it. So I didn't rest on the flight. Also, the crew was probably understaffed because it took very long time to take trash after the meal. Everything very different from the flight with Malaysian Airlines from London to KL.

Service / food has to be much better. Staff were not very attentive to requests. Requested for a second serve of coke and got a weird look back from the host! Was also told they don’t have extra water bottles when I requested for one before sleep! Dinner time food was very minimum and average.

An overnight Doha to KL. Great sleep, good service and tasty food in business class

chaos boarding. Crew in business class seemed short staffed and lacking in attention to details initially, but did improve during flight.

The cabin was quite noisy as there were lots of children travelling for the school holidays. Found the selection of movies limited.

Delayed, not enough information. Had to ask for refreshments, crew could have been more proactive

The best so far coz this time it was all male steward on the economy cluster. They were polite, efficient & genuinely courteous. They do not judge you when you ask for more food & peanuts.

Boarding took forever. It's also weird that we paid more (for preferred seats) to get on the plane last. Inflight WiFi never worked the entire trip. I want my money back.

The cosmetic condition was pretty run down. The carpets were badly worn out. Even the paint on the wings was chipped and peeled! Looks like they are running these 787s to the ground..

WiFi didn’t work on both sectors so made killing time harder - planes clean modern and good flight crew - would do again if WiFi works

6hrs fly they dont give you a glass of water from seoul to singapore need to buy drink and food plus they charge for bag on international fly is always Free 1 bag from seoul to singapore is Not a local fly you are traveling true asia same story from singapore to Bali no water drink after payment for bag drink cost more the regular airline Well never use this company again we use regular company like Delta korea japan China and even scoot parent company Singapore Air

We had 2 attempts to land at Singapore Changing during a thunderstorm. Everything was delayed by 1 hour plus.

Boarding was not accordingly after front seat, bmf then back seat. This delayed for at least 40mins or more. The staff at Jakarta can do better. Is chaos at the entry to board the plane. This tarnished Scoot reputation when everyone was talking about it.

The crew was not customer oriented at all, even confrontational . The aircraft needs more attention to detail as far as comfort, and the 1 hour sitting at the gate with no air is inexcusable

We flew on the 787 Dreamliner direct to main gate at KLIA2, quick entry via eGate and on the train 41mins after touchdown. Go well SCOOT

Was on scoot plus. The only good thing about the flight was the spacious seats. Tables and armrests were extremely dirty Food: bad Entertainment: non existent Wifi: unable to connect, then was painfully slow that we couldn’t even send messages Good thing we had a night flight, so we just slept throughout.

Not clear why boarding passes could only be issued at the counter and not through the kiosk. I had already check-in on the web, so waiting to obtain a boarding pass 1.5 hours before the actual flight defeats the purpose of early web check-in.

Understanding India Travel Budget

India is renowned for being one of the most affordable travel destinations in the world. Yet, the costs can vary significantly depending on your travel style, preferences, and destinations. From budget hostels to luxury hotels, street food to gourmet dining, public buses to private taxis, India caters to all types of travelers. Here’s an overview of what you can expect:

Accommodation Costs

Accommodation in India spans a vast range, suitable for every budget. You can find basic dorm beds for as low as $10 a night, while mid-range hotel rooms typically cost between $30 to $50 per night. For those seeking luxury, India offers some of the world’s finest hotels with prices starting from $100 per night. Here are some general pointers:

  • Budget Accommodation: Basic hostels, guesthouses, and budget hotels usually range from $10 to $20 per night.
  • Mid-Range Accommodation: 3-star hotels and boutique stays typically cost $30 to $50 per night.
  • Luxury Accommodation: High-end hotels and resorts start at $100 per night, with premium options available in iconic properties.

Transportation in India

India’s transportation network is extensive and varied, including everything from rickshaws to airplanes. Understanding your options can help keep your travel budget in check. Here’s a breakdown of typical transportation costs:

  • Local Transportation: Auto-rickshaws and buses are extremely economical, costing as low as $0.30 per ride. In cities like Mumbai and Delhi, the metro system is both affordable and efficient, with fares starting at $0.20.
  • Inter-city Travel: Trains are a popular and budget-friendly option for long-distance travel, with sleeper class tickets starting at $5. Buses are another economical choice, particularly for shorter distances.
  • Flights: Domestic flights can be surprisingly affordable if booked in advance, with major budget airlines offering competitive rates. Prices for one-way flights often start around $30.
  • Car Rentals: Renting a car can also be a cost-effective way to explore more remote regions, although driving in India requires a certain level of confidence and experience.

Food Prices in India

One of the joys of traveling in India is sampling its diverse and flavorful cuisine, which is also incredibly pocket-friendly. From street food vendors to high-end restaurants, here’s what you can expect to spend:

  • Street Food: Iconic street foods like samosas, chaat, and vada pav are not only delicious but highly affordable, often costing less than $1 per serving.
  • Local Restaurants: A meal at a local eatery or dhaba typically ranges from $1 to $5, offering generous portions of regional specialties.
  • Mid-Range Restaurants: Dining at mid-range restaurants will set you back about $10 to $20 for a meal for two, including multiple courses.
  • Fine Dining: For a more luxurious dining experience, prices can range from $20 to $50 per person at high-end establishments.

Traveling in India offers a wide range of experiences, from the bustling streets of metropolitan cities to the tranquil landscapes of its rural areas, all without breaking the bank. Whether you’re a backpacker exploring the myriad of cultures on a shoestring budget or a luxury traveler seeking the finest comforts, India has something for every type of traveler.

Lao-asia telecom state enterprise represents govt in joint venture to run port in vietnam, philippines says china 'biggest disruptor' of peace in south-east asia.

India's Taj Mahal is an iconic monument that’s known globally. It has survived many adversities through several centuries, and is still standing strong in Agra today.

My wife and I are so lucky to have visited this ancient architectural wonder some time back while we were on a short tour of India’s popular destinations. We went to Agra by train from Jaipur; but you can also take a taxi or a bus to get there. There are no flights that go directly to Agra as we were told that the airport there was only for military use. The nearest international airport is in New Delhi.

Agra is in the state of Uttar Pradesh, which is the northern part of India. We arrived in the city at nearly 10pm and since we haven’t had our dinner yet, we stopped at the famous Wahid Biryani Restaurant to have our fill. Apparently, this restaurant founded by Wahid Ali Qureshi has been around for over 60 years, and is very popular with locals and tourists. The first shop opened in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, but there is an outlet in Agra too.

My wife and I shared a meal of mutton biryani because we didn’t want to be too full just before bedtime; at about RM12 (with a soda and mineral water), our supper at this famous restaurant was an affordable one.

We took an auto rickshaw to get to our hotel and was quite excited about the ride, even though it was only for five minutes. An auto rickshaw is a three-wheeled vehicle that’s commonly used all over India. We booked our ride using an app called “Ola Cabs”. We found this app to be very convenient for travellers like us as you can book three types of transportation – a car, motorcycle or an auto rickshaw – on it.

We woke up super early the next morning because we wanted to catch a glimpse of the sunrise at the Taj Mahal. Our “mission” was to take a picture with the Taj Mahal in the background before it got too crowded. However, we sort of “failed” in our mission as we were a little late – the gates opened as early as 6am but we arrived at 6.30am!

Even the trees are lined up in perfect symmetry at the complex.

Our hotel was actually just a five-minute walk to the place, which was super convenient. We made sure to buy our tickets online beforehand from the official website (https://www.tajmahal.gov.in) so that we didn’t have to queue up on the day of our visit.

We paid about RM60 to get into the complex, and another RM12 (approximately) for access into the mausoleum itself.

Even though it was only 6.30am, there were already a lot of people lining up to enter the complex. Security was really tight – visitors were not allows to bring tripods, large bags and of course, weapons, as well as a few other items into the place. Remember to check the full list on the official website if you ever decide to visit one day.

Since we had done our homework, we only brought our passports, smartphones and wallets with us so that we could go through the security screening process faster.

There are three gates at the Taj Mahal complex that you can enter from, but only the East and West gates were accessible to the public when we were there. The South gate used to be open but perhaps the authorities were doing some maintenance or upgrading works at the time.

We decided to enter via the East gate, where we saw the four gardens just before the North gate, which is the main gate or the “Great Gate”.

The North gate is also known as the 'Great Gate'.

As you go through this grand entrance, you will somehow experience an optical illusion as the Taj Mahal seems to move further away the more you get close to it.

Once you stand right in front of it, though, you will see just how beautiful and magnificent the monument is. And it changes colour too, or at least it reflects different colours. In the morning it looks a little pink-ish, at noon it is milky white, while in the evenings just before sunset, it looks somewhat golden.

The Taj Mahal was built in 1631 by order of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, in memory of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died after giving birth to their 14th child. It took 22 years for it to be completed, and it is said that over 20,000 labourers and 1,000 elephants were used to construct it.

We spent three and a half hours wandering around the Taj Mahal complex that also consists of a mosque, a guesthouse, and of course, the gardens. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us to visit the place, and we loved every moment of it. We now want to learn more about Indian history and culture, and see more of the beautiful land, so we will definitely make another trip to the country in the future.

The views expressed are entirely the writer’s own.
