I keep thinking of Hallie Parker in The Parent Trap digging her bright yellow duffle out of a pile minutes upon arrival at summer camp. I decided to put my questions to the test and find the most suitable suitcase swaps. I not only tapped Luigi Auricchio VP of Design from Away, but I polled my friends and coworkers and tried duffle after duffle for myself.

Coming from a design perspective, Auricchio provided me with a clearer direction of what I was on the hunt for. He says, "The perfect duffle should strike the balance between function and style , offering enough space for all the essentials while being easy to carry. It’s the small details that make all the difference ." After questioning the features I should consider, Auricchio adds, "A great duffl e prioritizes padded shoulder straps, top handles that are appropriately sized for shoulder carry, well-organized compartments, ease of opening and packing, and durable, water-resistant, and lightly padded materials like a high-performance nylon, canvas, or alternative leathers . "

Leisure Travel Vans Unveils 2024 Models

Wonder and unity receive updated technology.

Leisure Travel Vans has added a new level of luxury with a series of updates and new features to their 2024 model year class C motorhomes.

Truma Aventa Air Conditioner

One of the new standard features is the ultra-quiet Truma Aventa Eco Air Conditioner, which perfectly balances cooling and humidity while minimizing noise in a contemporary, energy-efficient, low-profile design. Automatic cooling, air circulation, dehumidification, and night mode are just some of the convenient features of this new premium air conditioner.

Dragonfly Lithium Batteries

Dual 12V 100 Amp Hour Lithium batteries, previously an optional feature, will now be standard across all Leisure Travel Vans models beginning in model year 2024.

By making lithium batteries a standard feature, now all Leisure Travel Van owners will experience the advantages, including a much higher rate of usable energy. LTV’s lithium batteries feature a built-in heating function, allowing them to be charged in colder weather. If the heating function is not desired (as it does draw some power), it can be easily turned off from a switch located above the entrance door.

New Pantry Rack System

Most Leisure Travel Vans will undergo a revision to feature a four-shelf, black Baldacci pantry rack. This brand-new aluminum system provides a more contemporary design, wider shelves, dividers, and a much more stable base. This update will not only continue to add to the plentiful storage already found in a Leisure Travel Van but will also provide increased room in the cabinet above the pantry in the Unity Corner Bed, Unity FX, and Unity Murphy Bed. Please note: Due to the large, built-in pantry, the Wonder Front Twin Bed does not feature the updated pantry system.

Water Filtration System

The addition of a water filtration system to all 2024 Wonder floorplans is a significant upgrade. Like any water filtration system, this will remove impurities, chemicals, and any other contaminants that can be harmful. Please note: This change will add an additional step to winterizing and de-winterizing all 2024 and beyond Wonder motorhomes.

The merger between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines is one step closer to reality after the Department of Justice (DOJ) allowed its review period to expire without taking any action.

The process for the proposed merger will now be allowed to move forward, according to Alaska Airlines , and is next subject to approval from the Department of Transportation (DOT). Reuters reported the DOT said Tuesday it was reviewing the potential acquisition.

“This is a significant milestone in the process to join our airlines,” Alaska Airlines said in a statement. “During the DOJ’s review, Alaska worked closely with the Hawai‘i Attorney General to reinforce and expand upon our commitments for the future of Hawaiian Airlines and to Hawai‘i consumers. These include plans to maintain the Hawaiian Airlines brand and local jobs and continue providing strong service between, to, and from the Islands.”

Alaska first announced its plans to purchase Hawaiian Airlines late last year in a sale that was valued at about $1.9 billion. However, unlike some other mergers, Alaska said it planned to maintain both the Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines brands and integrate both into a “single operating platform.”

Following the DOJ’s decision not to take any action to block the merger, Hawaii Gov. Josh Green said the joining of the two airlines would create a “stronger company” and ultimately “offer more travel options for Hawai‘i residents and local businesses.”

“The merger will vastly expand the number of destinations throughout North America for Hawai‘i residents that can be reached nonstop or one-stop from the islands… I appreciate the DOJ’s strong consideration of Hawai‘i’s unique needs during its review of the proposed merger,” Green said in a statement . “I look forward to this merger proceeding and the overwhelming consumer, employee and community benefits that will result from it.”

While this merger has been allowed to move forward, other proposed airline mergers haven’t been as lucky. Earlier this year, a federal judge blocked an anticipated merger between JetBlue and Spirit Airlines, ruling it was unlawful because it violated antitrust laws. Weeks later, the two airlines officially abandoned their merger plans .

And last year, a U.S. judge similarly ordered JetBlue and American Airlines to end their alliance , a decision JetBlue ultimately decided not to appeal .

Rear Twin Bed is what RTB stands for. After years of converting a sofa into a bed and, most recently, setting up and taking down a Murphy bed on our previous LTV Unity FX model, the idea of having two beds in the rear of our unit all made up and ready was something we both really wanted. Those twins, by the way, can easily be pushed together into a Queen, as seen in the video .

Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #2 – The “Garage”

We like small motorhomes because they are small. Meaning maneuverable. But all of our previous RVs just did not have enough storage space to bring along all the things we wanted. I'm not talking about a crazy amount of stuff. I'm talking a couple of gravity-style lounge chairs.  Maybe some inflatable kayaks. Golf clubs. Cross country skis and poles.

Our new Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB model has a huge pass-through storage area in the rear that we call “the garage.” It can hold up to 500 pounds of cargo! I can even get a couple of bicycles in there.  (The RTB model is the only LTV Wonder model that has the garage.)

Look at the video and you'll see how the self-contained, standup dry shower in our Leisure Travel Vans Wonder can accommodate someone 6'2″.  It even has a sunroof to let in lots of natural light. The RV comes with the Truma Aqua Go instant hot water heater which means water is always hot and you don't waste by having to leave it running to warm up.

Turn it on and it's instantly warm, and because the shower is totally separate from the rest of the RV, there's nothing that needs to be toweled off and dried. Except you, of course. The “wet” showers on the Class B RVs we used to have always required more time to dry the bathroom than it took to shower.

Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB feature #5 – Separate areas for sleeping, working, eating and lounging

The door on the shower has a double function. It can be used to seal the bedroom area at the rear of the coach from the front galley and lounge area. I'm an early riser. I get up about 5:30 AM. Jennifer (and Bo) like to sleep till around 7.

I can block off the back ( check the video to see how that works) and make my morning coffee, read, work, and putz around the front of the RV without disturbing them.

The Leisure Travel Vans brand, however, was not founded until 1978. The true founders of this brand that falls under the Triple E umbrella were Reg and Saide Harder.

Fast forward to 2010, and the Triple E company and the Leisure Travel Vans brand were finally consolidated into one operation due to the economic crisis the world was facing.

Samantha Patil is on a mission to change the way you see the world.

As an avid traveler, Patil often found herself on a plane, train, or in an automobile to some of the coolest destinations on Earth. Though she always loved the destination, the journey getting there was starting to rub.

"I love experiencing new places and cultures, however, I've found that trip planning is time-consuming and frustrating," she told Travel + Leisure . "Finding relevant recommendations I can actually trust is especially challenging."

So, she did something about it. Patil founded Well Traveled , an exclusive community of travelers, foodies, and adventure seekers all sharing their best tips, tricks, and hidden gems they've found on their own journeys.

Specifically, Patil hopes that her platform can help serve a group of travelers that are often stuck in the middle between budget trips and luxury experiences.

"In reality, most modern travelers fall somewhere in the middle," she said. For example, what if I want to go camping for three days and end with a bougie night at a luxury resort? What if I want to book a budget airline for my flight and a Michelin star restaurant for dinner? The majority of our members prioritize food, culture, and local experiences over price and I'd argue in today's world that's the norm, not the exception."

Well Traveled members must go through an application process and be approved for entry, however, Patil says the company's goal is to be inclusive rather than exclusive.

Interestingly, Patil noted, while the site isn't built exclusively for women (it welcomes people of all genders, ages, backgrounds, and orientations) its member base so far is predominantly female.

Patil said Well Traveled members are people who "typically prioritize spending on experiences over physical goods. Our members are conscious travelers, often voting with their dollar, and prefer to travel more like a local and less like a tourist."

In many ways, Patil added, the company operates similarly to a "review platform" like Yelp or TripAdvisor, but with a more modern, sophisticated edge. Travelers can follow one another like a social platform and share tips one on one, or post about their finds so everyone can see. The company also curates content for members so they can discover destinations they may never have considered before.

"We also provide a booking service for members where we help members find and book accommodations that are right for them," Patil said. "That service also includes exclusive members-only perks like room upgrades, special offers, food and beverage credit, and complimentary welcome goodies when booking through the platform."

At the company's core, it's aiming to build a travel company for those who are not being served by the current travel ecosystem.

"We're building Well Traveled for a new generation of conscious travelers who work hard and want to enjoy life but also care deeply about where and how they're spending their hard-earned cash, and time," Patil said. "They identify as 'local tourists' and are intentional about the choices they're making when they travel."
