1. About Nike Air Max 1 “Safari”

In 1987, Nike legend Tinker Hatfield introduced the “Air Pack” featuring three types of Nike Air. This year, the “Air Max 1” which was born from that trio celebrates its 35th anniversary. Sneakerheads worldwide are anticipating a variety of new Air Max designs, and so far Nike has delivered.

Now, an AM1 using the “Safari” pattern has been added to the lineup. This pattern has been carried over from the legendary 2002 atmos x Air Max 1 “Safari”, the first official Air Max 1 collaboration that has been coveted and sought after by sneakerheads for a decade. With the new AM1 “Safari”, Nike delivers a nostalgic nod to old-timer sneakerheads, while mixing up the design with new elements for a sense of novelty.

It’s around this time of year that we begin to see an influx of Air Max 1 colorways, as the legendary Tinker Hatfield design builds up anticipation for the brand’s annual Air Max Day celebrations in March. In addition to the return of the OG “Big Bubble,” we’ve seen a slew of new options from the “Design By Japan” to a sturdy “Triple Black” — the brand has even revisited the legendary “Shima Shima” scheme. We’ve also noted a couple of new animal-print releases for the months ahead, with a third now joining, as first looks at this new Nike Air Max 1 “Safari” (Summit White)  have surfaced.

Though the theme has been revisited countless times on the Air Max 1 over the years, few have been more minimal than these. With clean Summit White leather uppers and tonal overlays, a set of light grey safari print overlays, and a subtle pop of baby blue, the pair is light, bright, and versatile. Tonal branding at the tongue and heel continue this trend, while sail-tinted sole units host a trio of hue on the rubber outsole to complete the design.

In 2004, HUF connected with Nike for the first of its many collaborations to date. The partnership assembled just two years after HUF was established as a retail space in San Francisco, making its mark on the scene with its curation of hard-to-find brands and involvement in the local skate community. HUF founder Keith Hufnagel took advantage of the opportunity to work with the Swoosh by first customizing the Air Max 1 — his favorite shoe, and one that inspired his own signature skate models like the DVS HUF 4 .

The HUF x Nike Air Max 1 ignited excitement from sneakerheads across the country by combining the grays of San Francisco’s fog and the concrete of the city’s streets with HUF’s signature “Pear Green.” Current HUF creative director Romeo Tanghal was a teenager growing up in New Jersey at the time, but to this day, he remembers how impressive it was to see a brand from out West represented on the shelves of stores in New York City.

coming back to the Nike Air Max 90 Moscow, we’ve seen city pack sneakers before and they’ve been fairly popular. Recently, however, Nike has been gracing us with brand new and retro colorways such as the Air Max 90 Spider Web and Air Max 90 OG Infrared .

Before we estimate resale for the latest city-inspired colorway, let me walk you through some background.

Air Max 90| Russia’s Choice

Apart from being one of the most iconic sneakers of all time. The Air Max 90 was also a catalyst of sneaker culture in Russia. This was the first Nike sneaker which was widely recognizable within the region.

Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Max 90 continued the Air Max 1’s legacy of revolutionizing sneaker technology and design. Although Air technology was used in Nike sneakers as far back as 1979, the Air Max put it on full display.

The exposed Air Unit was an interesting design choice that was criticized by other officials over at Nike. Hatfield, however, was adamant that he wanted it in and so became the Air Max 1.

In 1990, the Air Max 90 was born as the real spiritual successor to the Air Max 1. Then called the Nike Air Max III, this sneaker followed the Air Jordan line with constant evolutions in design and functionality.

With multiple city packs also having been released, the latest Nike Air Max 90 is expected to be among the popular ones. To estimate its resale, let’s head on over to StockX.

Retail Price: $140

Peak resell: $330, release date: 02/10/2020, colorway: white/sport blue-game royal-sail.

The Air Max 90 Paris wears similar subtle color tones to the Nike Air Max 90 Moscow. Sporting a white leather upper with hints of red and blue, particularly on the tongue and heel tabs.

A white ‘Swoosh’, white midsole, and white outsole finish off a clean look.

On StockX, the average selling price is around $160 while at peak resale, gross profits are as high as $190. I believe the “Moscow” colorway will have a similar resale value.

Nike Air Max 90 Moscow

Estimated resell: $160, release date: november/14/2020, colorway: smoke gray.

Nike celebrates the rich history of Russia’s capital with the latest Nike Air Max 90 Moscow. Inspired by Russia’s magnificent architecture and fall sky, these sneakers wear a dark gray leather upper.

Each sneaker sports different accents, a laser blue, and infrared that hint towards Moscow’s night time when the city comes alive with a profusion of vibrant lights. Further reflective detailing nods towards the skyscrapers that embellish the capital.

Furthermore, “ Speed” and “City” are written in Cyrillic to recall the dynamism of the city. A grey midsole and outsole finish off the design.

I believe these will be a popular colorway and expect them to sell out fast.

Using my estimated resell value of $160, expect profits of around $30 per pair. Pretty much all City-Themed Nike Air Max 90s resell for around that price range.
