There Are Group Buys For Travel Packages Now — Gather Your Own Group Of Family & Friends To Enjoy Discounts On Trips

And you thought group buys were just about food.

Jasmine Teo

You’ve been buying everything from bak kwa and banana cake to durians and otah buns on group buys. But have you purchased a travel package via a group buy before?

The group buy phenomenon in Singapore, which gained traction during the pandemic, typically sees people living in the same estate consolidating and purchasing items in bulk from sellers. In return, they enjoy bulk purchase discounts and may even save on delivery fees. While snacks, food and even fresh ingredients are commonly bought through group buys, it’s not uncommon to hear of people pooling together to buy electronics and furniture as well.

However, homegrown group buy e-platform Webuy has taken it a step further to offer group buys for — wait for it — travel packages.

Touted as the first of its kind in Singapore, these travel group buy packages are purportedly cheaper “by up to 30 per cent”, Webuy tells 8Days.sg . The travel packages can be bought via the Webuy app or website, and customers get to “purchase travel packages at the cheapest rates and experience the convenience of a carefully-planned itinerary with airfare, hotels, transportation, tours and meals included”, states the press release.

“Unlike regular tour agencies, Webuy does not need to bear a lot of overhead costs. All communication can be done online, from the comfort of a consumer’s own home. As such, these cost savings can then be passed on to them," says a spokesperson for the company.

South Korea , Turkey, Switzerland, Italy, France, Australia, and Vietnam.

Prices range from $1,788 for a 10D7N Turkey trip to $3,999 for a 11D8N package to Switzerland, Italy and France costs — airfares, hotels, meals, activities, Covid-19 tests (if necessary) and taxes included.

Webuy’s first travel group buy trip was last December, when 15 people travelled to Switzerland.

There have been three group buy trips so far — one to Switzerland and two to Turkey — with another four confirmed travel tour package deals coming up.

There are a couple of things that set travel group buy packages apart from conventional tour groups.

While there are fixed itineraries, airlines and hotels for each trip set by Webuy, these can be customised to suit the group’s travel preferences once a group hits a minimum of 15 to 20 people. They will then be able to pick their preferred airline, hotel and landmarks to visit. While the company will still negotiate to get group buy rates for these changes, travellers will have to top up the price difference if it’s more expensive.

Customers can also form their own travel groups. However, they must hit a minimum number of 10 to 15 people in the group, depending on the destination, according to the company.

If customers are not able to form their own group, they may approach the travel group leader via the in-app chat to help them form a group or add them to an existing group.

However, as with all group buys, there is a certain amount of risk involved — like, if you do not hit the minimum amount of orders to fulfil the group buy. In this case, if the minimum number of people cannot be reached for a particular trip, the overall price of the travel package will be subject to changes, says Webuy.

If there are changes in Covid-19 border restrictions, the trip will be postponed until the next available departure date, according to the company.

New face of group tours

Redefining group tours, from bespoke itineraries to group buy, home-grown travel companies intriq journey and webuy are changing the way singaporeans travel as tourism gets back on its feet..

review on webuy travel

SINGAPORE - "There is strength in numbers."

This adage has gained new relevance, with group tours experiencing a resurgence and not just among seniors.

Google Trends have shown that the volume of searches for "group tours" - especially "small group tours" - has been on an upward trend since two years ago.

But today's group tours are different. Some are powered by influencers and group buys, while others offer insider access and immersive experiences.

Group tours may differ in style, but they share a couple of similarities: They offer plenty of convenience and camaraderie - something that was gravely lacking during the pandemic.

Here are two travel companies that have emerged in recent times and do group tours differently.

Luxury travel agency

Intriq journey.

Ms Jess Yap is sitting in a restaurant, reminiscing about a trip she took to Botswana, Africa, in 2016.

"I was in the Kalahari desert camp for work," recalls the co-founder of Intriq Journey. "Each room had an open platform with mattresses and blankets. I decided to spend the night on it rather than in the room.

"It was so beautiful - the entire sky was full of stars."

Ms Yap, 49, is a seasoned travel professional with more than 25 years of experience. Her "been there, done that" list reads like an adventure manual: hiking in Pakistan, visiting a Sunday market in China's Kashgar city in the Uighur region, bungee-jumping in New Zealand and schmoozing with locals in Iran.

Her company was built on this passion for adventure. Established in January 2020 with the help of two other co-founders and former colleagues Lim Kok Yong, 40, and Stella Fan, 48, it creates bespoke itineraries as well as small group journeys that marry adventure with extravagance.

"Intriq Journey was founded just three months before the pandemic, before Covid-19 had a name. Our business was modest during those early months of inception before we suffered the heavy blow from the halt in international tourism," she says.

review on webuy travel

But she soldiered on and her three-person team has grown to 12 people, with offices in Singapore, Hong Kong and Beijing. Business has gone up 50 per cent since Singapore reopened its borders in April this year and the company is now busy with year-end requests.

Today, she is redefining group travel with Intriq Finesse, a line of curated small group tours. Whether it involves personal encounters with leaders of the New Nordic culinary movement - such as Michelin-starred chefs, farmers and brew masters in Denmark - or a sunrise picnic on Mount Nemrut in eastern Turkey, visitors can look forward to a trip brimming with one-of-a-kind experiences.

Each trip is capped at 16 guests and accompanied by a travel concierge. Prices are all-inclusive, meaning that all meals, drinks (including alcohol) and tipping are taken care of.

"At present, there is peak demand for Europe, but other exotic destinations are seeing a comeback, in addition to newly opened countries such as New Zealand and Japan," she says.

review on webuy travel

Saudi Arabia is on her personal bucket list.

"The fact that not many people have visited Saudi Arabia makes this destination truly appealing, especially for the luxury segment," she says.

"Beyond its expansive oil fields and holy Mecca, the kingdom has some of the friendliest and most unpretentious locals as well as diverse, ancient landscapes, Unesco world heritage sites and one of the oldest cities in the Arabian Peninsula.

"Al Ula is a grander Petra, but without the tourist crowds."

The company caters to a largely Asian clientele because these globetrotters come with their own set of preferences and quirks.

"Most Asians do not like to spend so much time on the beach. You can take them to a Michelin-starred restaurant, but at the end of the day, they still crave comfort foods like noodle soup and porridge. They also want to see more things in a shorter period of time."

By creating these journeys, Ms Yap hopes to broaden their horizons by allowing them to discover not just other cultures, but also themselves. "I believe that going off the beaten path helps to create opportunities for authentic, immersive engagement with the communities," she says.

"You will learn invaluable lessons by interacting with the locals. You will also start to see and question things with a more 'worldly' perspective."

Travel group buy

"Travel to Europe at bargain-basement prices? What's the catch?"

This is one of the many questions bombarding chief executive and co-founder of e-commerce platform Webuy, Mr Vincent Xue, 40, when he tells customers about his company's latest venture. This allows travellers to purchase a one-for-one tour package to Switzerland, Italy and France for a nifty price of $3,999, among other things.

It works out to about $2,000 a person for flights, eight nights of hotel accommodation, sightseeing and meals.

But group buy, which typically involves people living in the same housing estate purchasing items in bulk to enjoy discounts, is a powerful thing. The pandemic has accelerated this trend, which was already gaining traction among Singaporeans.

Since Webuy was established in August 2019 by Mr Xue, along with two other co-founders Michelle Tan, 28, and Jesper Low, 32, it has grown into the country's largest group buy platform. In March, the company acquired its biggest rival in Indonesia, Chilibeli, for an undisclosed amount of money.

The company now has more than 1,000 group buy leaders - he calls them micro-influencers - and 500,000 customers across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The company started out with group buys for groceries and food, but began offering group buy travel packages in Singapore when the borders gradually reopened late last year.

All one has to do is download and install the Webuy app and start shopping.

Response has so far been overwhelming, according to him. The first trip that was taken via Webuy was to Switzerland in December 2021.

"The travellers were initially sceptical as it was going at $3,888 for seven nights, but trusted us because they regularly shopped on our platform.

"After going on the tour, they were quite impressed by the quality of the trip. They started to recommend the trips to more buyers from their community group. Hence, we are able to quickly form more travel groups through positive word of mouth," he says.

He recounts that it took only two days for one person to gather 18 of her friends and family for a seven-night holiday in Turkey several months ago. They each paid $1,788.

review on webuy travel

Webuy currently offers affordable tour packages to multiple countries, from Finland to the Maldives, as well as buy-one-get-one-free deals.

In addition to providing flights, hotels, meals and sightseeing at an all-inclusive price, the company is able to customise any aspect of its tour, including meals. This works well for travellers if they can meet the minimum required group size of 15 people.

"When tour group members don't know one another, it is difficult to align travel styles. But if customers travel in a group with people they know, they can tell us what they want and we can arrange it for them," he says.

Also, an expert guide will accompany each group and liaise with land operators.

Mr Xue plans to expand Webuy's offerings. He says: "We'd like to include corporate travel as well as free-and-easy holidays to cater to different travel styles. Customers will also be able to purchase a cruise holiday one day too."

5 reasons why I became a WEBUY convert

Sonia Lourdes

I love how we are living in a world where everything is readily available to be delivered to your doorstep in just a click of a button. Recently, as I’ve spent more time getting my groceries or meals online, I’ve almost forgotten how my supermarket looks.

Living in Pasir Ris has turned me into an insufferable bum, considering how the coolest spots in Singapore take roughly about 30 to 45 minutes to reach. That’s until I came across this amazing group buy platform— WEBUY . From Michelin Bib Gourmand food to highly sought after Hong Kong Jenny Bakery cookies, this app has everything! So much so that the very notion of the app being absolutely brilliant, in terms of convenience, has officially converted me to a full-time couch potato.

All I did was create an account, find a group leader near me, drop my order, and made my way over to collect my meal—all while saving a ton on delivery fees. Now, I may not be an expert on the app yet, but this app is so addictive, I find myself on it at least a few times a day.

As they say, good things must be shared hence why I’m writing this today, to share why my latest find is worth a download.

I’ve to set things straight before you continue reading; I went absolutely mental with my purchases. Please, no judgments.

1. Get your hands on local and overseas products with ease

You know one of those days when you find yourself craving for more than one food dish to indulge in? Well, that happened to me, and I found myself ordering from not one, but four different outlets. And let me tell you something about WEBUY, they deliver.

Signature Char Siew Wanton Noodle from Ji Ji Noodle House

So, hungry me ordered a packet of Signature Char Siew Wanton Noodle from Ji Ji Noodle House (S$5.50) (Straits Times’ awarded as ‘Favourite Hawker’, and listed in the Michelin Guide with a Michelin Plate), two packets of Mama Wee Curry Chicken Drumstick Set (S$7.80) from Hainan Story , and a Best Seller Bundle (S$12 for six pieces) and Freshly-baked Cheese Tarts from Chewy Junior .

Collage Of Cheese Tarts And Cream Puffs

For those of you who know, those places have their fair share of snake queues on the daily, but purchasing them from WEBUY allowed me to beat the queue, save on transportation as well as reduce the travel time from one location to another, all in the comfort of my own home. Bonus: I didn’t even have to fork out an absurd amount for delivery charges because it was free, and buying it from the app was actually a few bucks cheaper!

Bukit Merah Na Na Curry's Fish head curry

After getting the hang of the app, I had to go back for more. Imagine having the ability to have all of your cravings settled in a day without going through the dreadful process of getting dressed and leaving home? Sounds incredible, right?

That’s the reason why I had to satisfy my fish head curry cravings from five-year Michelin Guide Recommends’ Bukit Merah Na Na Curry via the app. Imagine my delight when my order reached my doorstep in record time while managing to retain its heat.

Collage Of Baos

That’s not all WEBUY has to offer, though. They also have a range of quality products at affordable prices and a large database of products that aren’t available in Singapore. Hence, when I saw Pudu Rice Wine Grilled Chicken Bao (S$9.75 for 10 , direct from KL) and Famous Kulai YL Dim Sum Restaurant ’s frozen baos on the list, I had to get them.

Collage Of Oranges

Apart from those items, I also got myself a box of premium Ehime Jelly Orange (S$18 for 3kg) direct from China, and two Australian Meltique Striploin Portion 200g at a steal of S$9.80 each . If you know your supermarkets inside out, you know that these things are ridiculously pricey and difficult to get your hands on.

Of course, I had to grab them before they were sold out. Also, you need not worry about the frozen items melting because they will come packed with plenty of dry ice packets.

Collage Of Drinks, Japanese Chocolate And Jenny Cookies

2. Why you should hop on the group buy train

Group buy items

Did you know that group buy helps you save a ton of money especially on delivery fees? Like I mentioned before, if you hit the minimum order for home delivery, the delivery fees will be waived. Alternatively, they also charge a minimum sum for islandwide delivery if you’re too lazy to collect your order from a group leader, and want it to be delivered to your home instead.

What are the odds that someone else near your area is craving the same food as you? Chances are, the odds are high. And once a group of people are set on eating from the same location, all you have to do is wait for your order to arrive at the designated pick-up point.

Australian Meltique Striploin Portion 200g

Apart from meals, they also deal with direct suppliers in order to bring in cheaper products. I saw that they’ve fresh prawns sourced out from the fishery at only S$16 per 1kg while most supermarkets are selling them for about S$22 per 1kg. Additionally, I managed to cop myself a pair of Australian Meltique Striploin Portion 200g at a steal of S$9.80 each . How great is that?

Durians

I also heard that when it comes to durian season, the team at WEBUY buys out an entire durian plantation in order to provide you with your favourite king of fruits at an extremely affordable price. How about that?

3. User-friendly interface

In this day and age, most of us are indeed self-proclaimed geniuses when toggling between apps. However, for a clearer understanding, here’s how I placed my order for a home delivery order.

First up, you’ll have to download the WEBUY app from Google Play Store or Apple Store , then create an account and browse through the app.

Once you’ve found something that you’d like to order, follow the steps above to seal the deal. In the event you are unable to hit the minimum order of your desired item yet are still intending to save on delivery fees, you may opt to join a group and proceed with arranging a pick-up from a group leader near you.

All you have to do is follow the steps above to find the nearest group leader to you, drop them a text, create your order, and head down to the meeting point to receive your item. Simple enough, right?

Joining a group chat also comes with a slew of benefits; you’re able to discover new products, you can easily place your order with a group leader, and if you’re unsure of or require immediate assistance, all you have to do is drop your group leader a text message and they will provide you with the support you need. From ordering to communication, everything is done via your smartphone!

4. Prime convenience and personalised customer service

Group leader

Having a group leader that’s located up to 200m away from you means all you have to do is take a quick five-minute walk over to receive your purchase or settle any disputes. Furthermore, your group leaders’ are also your personal customer service representatives who’re ready to help you with user issues from using the app to refund matters. Say goodbye to chatbots because the future is now.

WEBUY Promo Poster

If that isn’t enticing enough, think about the array of food choices available that are now accessible to you with just a few clicks. With islandwide delivery, I can get my favourite meal or food item from Jurong, or anywhere in Asia, without leaving home. This is truly the epitome of living in the new age—I am impressed.

5. Frequently enjoy great deals

With great deals come great savings; and that’s what WEBUY is all about. Not only do they offer various ways to save as you spend, they also provide you with an abundance of deals. At the rate they’re going, their range of affordable products are indeed a huge gain for lazy shopaholics like myself.

Imagine waking up to a discount text message? That’s what I received from them after making one order. Apart from that, they also have monthly promotions like the upcoming 12.12 sale—where I also heard they’ll be giving out mystery boxes filled with cool gifts like Apple AirPods and more, and you’ll also receive attractive discount offers on the 28 th of each month.

Webuy 12.12 Sale Poster

Normally, I would never find myself on an app like this but since I’ve created an account with WEBUY, I’ve not only discovered heaps of makan places I never would’ve visited on my own, but also managed to drop orders from various popular spots from around Asia as well. And I did all of that just by staying at home.

Apart from that, the app is incredibly convenient and easy to use. As we know, Singapore has a vast food scene, and the majority of us are huge travellers and foodies so it’s safe to say that WEBUY has amazingly outdone itself in ensuring its consumers get the best without so much as travelling out of the country.

I can end this piece by saying, I’m officially a WEBUY convert.

How WEBUY Founder Is Bringing China’s Multi-Billion Community Group Buying Market To S’pore

Sheila Chiang

In this article

The spirit of group buying has always lived in Singapore’s culture.

From kampung to HDB days, neighbours pool orders for items ranging from fresh fruits, meat and even electronics, and consolidate them into single bulk purchases.

Prices of group buy items are often cheaper than retail prices off the shelves with savings being the main reason why people engage in community purchases.

With the rise of social media, group buy groups have since thronged social media platforms such as Telegram, Facebook and Instagram.

While everyone was stuck at home during the circuit breaker, they turned to group buys to get their hands on highly-coveted products.

Think musang king or D27 durian, the famous banana cake from JB or even Haidilao’s self-heating hotpots.

With that, we speak to Vincent Xue, co-founder and CEO of WEBUY to find out how he decided to create a startup to drive the social e-commerce market in SEA.

Fanning The Social Buying Craze In S’pore

The group buying market is highly lucrative in China and dominated by Chinese e-commerce giant Pinduoduo, which counts Alibaba’s Taobao and JD.com its rivals.

Revenue from community buying is expected to triple to 89 billion yuan (S$18.1 billion) this year from 2018, global research firm Kantar Group Ltd. estimates.

Group buy apps in china

Market consultancy AskCI Consulting Co Ltd said more than 500 million Chinese consumers were using online group buying platforms as of the end of June, almost double the figure from two years ago.

Also biting into the pie is China’s largest on-demand service platform for online deliveries, Meituan. They were testing a new group buying function earlier this year.

Inspired by China’s e-commerce movement, Vincent Xue, co-founder and CEO of Singapore-based social e-commerce startup, WEBUY, aimed to bring this concept to Southeast Asia’s F&B e-commerce scene, where the region’s consumers are driven by influence and the thrill of bargaining.

The idea came from one of my investors who is also an early investor of Pinduoduo and a community group buy platform in China. – Vincent Xue, co-founder and CEO of WEBUY

In September 2019, WEBUY launched with their first batch of group leaders.

Vincent had earlier co-founded international shopping platform ezbuy where he was chief strategy officer.

On why he decided to make the leap to creating his own startup, the 38-year-old Singaporean said that he has “always had a strong belief in social e-commerce”.

review on webuy travel

As a result, he decided to venture into the industry to value-add to what is available for a new generation of shoppers.

Eyeing a gap between traditional suppliers and the modern consumer, the social e-commerce platform gives both merchants and consumers an opportunity to source for and provide novel F&B items, while also helping SMEs across Asia expand their business opportunities.

Vincent Xue

In December 2019, they had successfully sold 4,000 cans of abalones in 4 hours — setting a new record for them.

Social Commerce In The Time Of COVID-19

In February, when Covid-19 was prevalent, they began importing face masks from Indonesia to support all of their group leaders.

We also launched a home delivery service to help customers get daily necessities without having to go out. We created a web tool to allow customers to book a collection slot from our group leaders to ensure social distancing is implemented. We provided training and live broadcasts to help the group leaders market the products easily. – Vincent Xue, co-founder and CEO of WEBUY

Food suppliers also rose up to the increased demand during Covid-19. For example, one of their suppliers, KSP Food used to primarily provide premium meats and seafood to prominent Chinese restaurants before joining the platform.

Amidst the global pandemic, they pivoted their business to include everyday consumers in order to survive the lockdown, expanding their client pool.

Another example is Umamill Co. Ltd.’s curation of unique and authentic Japanese products on WEBUY, which allows customers to imitate the experience of travelling through the random alleys of Nippon, but within the comforts of their homes.

review on webuy travel

These flavours from Japan’s prefectures are crafted by SMEs in the nation, with preorders for the artisanal Hokkaido-style Ramen by Mochizuki Noodle Factory Co. and the popular Japanese cream rolls by Shinkinedo Co. are oversubscribed.

Jumping on the yearly tradition of durian-feasting, they also successfully sold 2 tons of Bentong old tree durians within a day in the midst of the circuit breaker.

On the back of their popularity, they also expanded to Malaysia and Indonesia this year. Currently, WEBUY supports 3,000 group leaders and 100,000 consumers across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

In October, the startup also successfully raised a Series A investment round of US$6 million (S$8 million) led by Wavemaker Partners of which the funds will be used to further expand its regional footprint in SEA.

WEBUY plans to expand into Vietnam and the Philippines in 2021. We plan to recruit a batch of global venture builders and send them to different countries to kick start the business. We plan to invest US$1 million into our tech team to create a better user experience for all our customers and group leaders. – Vincent Xue, co-founder and CEO of WEBUY

They have also inked a partnership with TikTok’s owner Bytedance to improve WEBUY platform’s capabilities for the SEA region in Q1 2021.

Convincing Merchants To Onboard Their Platform

review on webuy travel

However, to convince group leaders to join them at the start was quite the challenge.

Housewives were worried that the WEBUY platform would just take advantage of their resources, and once the business has been set up, we will bypass them. – Vincent Xue, co-founder and CEO of WEBUY

As a result, they had to visit the group leaders from time to time and share their vision and long-term plan with them.

WEBUY's model

We showed them how our system is designed in a way that group leaders are crucial to the WEBUY platform and community. We also hired influencers among the group leaders to work full time for us to build the trust and relationship. – Vincent Xue, co-founder and CEO of WEBUY

Group leaders typically earn a commission that ranges from 5 per cent to 30 per cent depending on the product.

As the group buying model is not all unfamiliar to Singaporeans, they were eventually able to convince them to onboard as group leaders.

Furthermore, the storage and transportation of fresh produce and products also met with challenges for a young tech startup like them, as they “had no traditional knowledge and experience”.

Vincent said that the team had to visit the Jurong fish port late at night just to speak to the seafood distributors in their free time and learn how to keep and pack prawns from them.

How Social E-Commerce Drives Business

As mentioned, the group buying model is not a new phenomenon to Singaporeans as they have engaged in group buying in the last few decades.

Social e-commerce is driven by social interactions among friends and family.

When friends and family share social commerce stores or products, customers are more inclined to trust their recommendations and make a purchase, shortening the customer journey.

Pinduoduo used group buying promotions to incentivise customers looking for good deals. Customers who pulled in friends and family to purchase a product would receive a steep discount as a reward. The new customer would also receive a discount as well.

review on webuy travel

In fact, by building a relationship based on trust, it helps to bring the community together and customers see group leaders more as a friend than the middleman collating their orders.

Furthermore, group buys offer economical prices, constant discount notifications and pick-up time flexibility through group leaders.

With this, group buying is set to grow in Singapore and SEA as consumers constantly seek out savings, especially in tough times.

It can also be a side hustle for people looking for alternative income streams in times like this as well.

More people will onboard the group buying model as WEBUY drives the SEA market.

With the benefits that come with it, social e-commerce is definitely set to grow in Singapore and SEA in the next few years.

Webuy launches travel business in indonesia.

Singapore, May 15, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Webuy Global Ltd (NASDAQ: WBUY) ("Webuy" or the "Company"), a Southeast Asian community e-commerce retailer, today announced the launch of its travel business in Indonesia, as it expands its presence in the growing Southeast Asian tourism market.

Indonesia’s burgeoning middle class, which, according to data from the World Bank, is projected to make up 80% of the population by 2045, represents a significant and underserved market with considerable potential for new business ventures. This demographic shift is creating a new cohort of consumers seeking high-quality services and experiences, with travel being a prominent example.

Webuy's unique approach, which aims to seamlessly integrate online and offline elements, is ideally suited to cater to this emerging demand. For example, the Company's recently launched Mitra Referral Program ("Mitra") makes the referral process to connect to Mitra agents, who are similar to the Company’s group leaders, more straightforward, and facilitates streamlined connections between potential travelers and Webuy’s services. Once a referral is made, Webuy's dedicated team of tour consultants ensures that each customer's travel needs are met and their clients enjoy exceptional travel experiences customized to their individual preferences. Travel agents also benefit from a simplified referral process and receive an additional source of income.

The Company's travel business' inaugural trip was a six-day, four-night tour in Korea, which garnered an exceedingly positive response from its participants. A post-tour survey revealed 100% customer satisfaction, underscoring the tour's resounding success.

Vincent Xue Bin, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Webuy, commented, "I am delighted to see the positive trajectory of our travel service. We are capitalizing on the momentum of our successful package tour business in Singapore to further penetrate the rapidly expanding Southeast Asian tourism market. Our team of seasoned tour consultants and professionals provide exceptional support to referred clients, ensuring they receive excellent service and personalized solutions. Going forward, we will build on our momentum to further develop our community network and deliver sustainable shareholder value."

Exceptional customer service

The system is great and customer service from all departments is second to none. The developers at WeTravel seem to work constantly on tweaks and some major improvements to the system. Some companies sell you something and after tge sale, that's it. This is the opposite.

Best Resource for Travel Companies

I have been using WeTravel for about 2 years now and it has been such an integral part of my business. Allowing me to host trips in the most efficient and organized manner. WeTravel's support is also what makes it very special to me. You get a dedicated account rep once you are apart of their Pro plan (worth it), as well as fast customer support. I see WeTravel is still growing and making changes/ updates as well. So I am excited to grow with them.

WeTravel has helped our business…

WeTravel has helped our business greatly this year! The structure of the website and user-friendliness was a huge help in automating and simplifying so many things for our company. Now we are able to grow our business and our brand without having to worry about things like accepting online payments, designing websites, creating online forms to collect info, or doing other things that are outside my wheelhouse. I am free to focus on what I love and helping my customers succeed. Thank you to WeTravel, and a special thank you to Eileen who have helped us immensely!

Responsive and flexible

We really love using the WeTravel platform. It's elevated our customer presence and offered easy and flexible options that were too cumbersome with our previous system. Our account manager, Anders, is so responsive and helpful to any questions we have. I only with we had found this solution sooner!

Best Customer Service

I was introduced to WETRAVEL by a friend and it has been an amazing journey with them so far. Swift customer service support and my clients have not had any issue making payments. Transferring funds to my Ghana account has been smooth without any issues. I will like to especially thank Nessy Agnes Ngure for constantly checking up and making sure everything is alright. Thank you.

Hi there! Thank you for your kind feedback! 😊

Nifty and efficient for group tour handling

WeTravel has become really nifty and a handy addition to our booking software tools. It's particularly handy if you have many different nationalities of clients and bigger group tours where participants want to pay separately. The payouts are reliable and fast the conversion rates and fees fair. The Trip Builder is as easy and fast as can be and the customer support personal and efficient. I really love working with WeTravel - my account manager is Oscar! :)

A great value for booking tours online 24/7

From years of travelers booking through WeTravel, I found that 30% came during non-office hours. If customers had to wait, how many of those might have "cooled off" when we were open again? So this could increase sales significantly over typical agent workarounds that are actually speed bumps like requiring the prospect to send in a request WeTravel has no upfront nor monthly cost at its basic level, which we used for years. The 'pro' level is moderate in cost and adds some nice features. The only cost is accepting cards or checks, the latter of which is nearly the same as using ARC Misf merchant fees. Yet a travel agent saves the agent time and expense of receiving the booking entered by the traveler. Even the oldest travelers seem comfortable 95%+ of the time but could just call us to book if they prefer. Setting up a tour is straightforward and gives us a handy reference at our fingertips, too! WeTravel gladly takes suggestions on how to add features important to us.

WeTravel continues to be available when…

WeTravel continues to be available when our team has questions or changes to our tours online. They are quick to respond to issues that occasionally come up but also offer insight into the travel world outside of our own educational tour experience. Thank goodness that the travel industry is once again finally able to serve people who would like to journey to their favorite destinations!

WeTravel - a user-friendly tech solution

WeTravel is easy to use for us as a company as well as for our customers. I like that WeTravel constantly makes improvements and adds new features to the platform. Their customer service is very good. I just had a great experience with our account executive Anders who always responds quickly to our inquiries and guides us through any problem. He is very attentive and patient.

WeTravel makes everything retreat related easy and enjoyable

I highly recommend WeTravel to anyone who is looking into the possibility of leading an interantional retreat as well as to any venue who is hosting retreats. WeTravel makes it easy to take care of all the details. I personally appreciate the fact that any time I ran into any obstacles, someone was there to help immediately. They respond ASAP, there is a person not a robot and this person is kind and competent.

1:1 support all the way - how it should be with WeTravel

Oscar Chapman from WeTravel went above and beyond to make sure that I can familiarise myself with the platform. From setting up itineraries to bookings - he was there on every step along the way to help me. WeTravel is a great platform and I intend to use it more, not less, in the future.

We Love WeTravel and Katie Tom!

Honestly, our experience with WeTravel has been awesome, mainly because of Katie Tom. We didn't really appreciate the value of WeTravel and we stopped using it. Katie was very patient. Never pushy. But she was always there for us. After showing us the value of WeTravel, we love using this platform.

Without travel medical coverage, a medical emergency in a foreign country can cost you. You'll want trip cancellation and interruption coverage if your trip is particularly expensive. How to Find the Right International Travel Insurance Company

Different travelers and trips require different types of insurance coverage. So, consider these tips if you're in the market to insure your trip.

Determine your needs

Your needs for travel insurance will depend on the type of trip you're taking. You'll need to consider your destination and what you'll be doing there, either business, leisure, or adventure traveling. Policies covering adventure sports and activities will cost more. Longer, more expensive trips will also cost more.

Research the reputation of the company

When researching a company, you'll want to closely review the description of services. You'll want to see how claims are handled, any exceptions, and limitations.

You'll also want to look at the company's customer reviews on sites like Trustpilot, BBB, and Squaremouth, as this will provide insight on the quality of customer service and the claims process. You should also take note of whether companies respond to customer reviews.

Compare prices

You can get quotes through a company's website or travel insurance aggregators like InsureMyTrip and VisitorsCoverage. You'll need to be prepared to provide the following information about your trip:

  • Trip destination(s)
  • Travel dates
  • Number of travelers
  • Traveler(s) age/birthday
  • State of residence
  • Total trip cost

For companies that offer travel medical insurance, you'll also want to play around with the deductible options, as they can affect your policy premium.

Understanding International Travel Insurance Coverage Options

Travel insurance can be confusing, but we're here to simplify it for you. We'll break down the industry's jargon to help you understand what travel insurance covers to help you decide what your policy needs. Bear in mind that exclusions and limitations for your age and destination may apply.

Finding the Best Price for International Travel Insurance

Your policy cost will depend on several factors, such as the length of your trip, destination, coverage limits, and age. Typically, a comprehensive policy includes travel cancellation coverage costs between 5% and 10% of your total trip cost.

If you're planning an international trip that costs $4,500, you can expect to pay anywhere from $225 to $450 for your policy. Comparing quotes from multiple providers can help you find a budget-friendly travel insurance policy that meets your needs.

Why You Should Trust Us: How We Reviewed International Travel Insurance Companies

We ranked and assigned superlatives to the best travel insurance companies based on our insurance rating methodology . It focuses on several key factors, including:

  • Policy types: We analyzed company offerings such as coverage levels, exclusions, and policy upgrades, taking note of providers that offer a range of travel-related issues beyond the standard coverages.
  • Affordability: We recognize that cheap premiums don't necessarily equate to sufficient coverage. So, we seek providers that offer competitive rates with comprehensive policies and quality customer service. We also call out any discounts or special offers available.
  • Flexibility: Travel insurance isn't one-size-fits-all. We highlight providers that offer a wide array of coverage options, including single-trip, multi-trip, and long-term policies.
  • Claims handling: The claims process should be pain-free for policyholders. We seek providers that offer a streamlined process via online claims filing and a track record of handling claims fairly and efficiently.
  • Quality customer service: Good customer service is as important as affordability and flexibility. We highlight companies that offer 24/7 assistance and have a strong record of customer service responsiveness.

We consult user feedback and reviews to determine how each company fares in each category. We also check the provider's financial rating and volume of complaints via third-party rating agencies.

International Travel Insurance FAQs

The best insurance policy depends on your individual situation, including your destination and budget. However, popular options include Allianz Travel Insurance, World Nomads, and Travel Guard.

You should pay attention to any limitations regarding covered cancellations, pre-existing conditions, and adventure activities. For example, if you're worried you may have to cancel a trip for work reasons, ensure that you've worked at your company long enough to qualify for cancellation coverage, as that is a condition with some insurers. You should also see if your destination has any travel advisories, as that can affect your policy.

Typically, your regular health insurance won't cover you out of the country, so you'll want to make sure your travel insurance has adequate medical emergency coverage. Depending on your travel plans, you may want to purchase add-ons, such as adventure sports coverage, if you're planning on doing anything adventurous like bungee jumping.

Travel insurance is worth the price for international travel because they're generally more expensive, so you have more to lose. Additionally, your regular health insurance won't cover you in other countries, so without travel insurance, you'll end up paying out of pocket for any emergency medical care you receive out of the US.

You should purchase travel insurance as soon as possible after making payment on your trip. This makes you eligible for add-ons like coverage for pre-existing conditions and CFAR. It also mitigates the chance of any losses in the days leading up to your trip.
