Great night for a bitterly cold Sunday in Manchester but once you got into the venue all was well with a great atmosphere a lot of temperance fans up for a good night and the support act kicked it of in style getting a great reaction from the crowd but even the support act know why we are there and a few reminders of that’s from there lead singer got a great response and when the temperance movement arrived on stage they all looked up for a good night and with plenty of the new album being played with a few older loved tracks thrown in they had an older crowd up shouting and swaying about and the and kept us wanting more with the whole and up fora good night and why not they always seem to get great crowds at there gigs and last night wasn’t any different top night top venue (the ritz) and an on top form temperance movement I for 1 will be back to see them play again and wil be watching out for other great bands to play the ritz.......

I saw the first gig of The Temperance Movements tour last year in a small venue in Brighton.. Loved them I have all of their albums..

when they announced they were supporting BOC at Hammersmith had to book tickets to see them in a bigger venue..

they were awesome on Friday they converted a lot of old blokes who had come to see Blue Oyster Cult..

they are a great rocking band very talented musicians and the singer is a great entertainer.. Their songs are brilliant good rocking numbers alongside slower numbers with great words..

I can’t recommend them too highly.. If you get the chance go and see them..

Sound could have been better, and why the university debating society had to be in the audience that night I don't understand.

That said the Temperance Movement were brilliant as always: full of energy and enthusiasm. And being in support position was great for us in the audience, as they tried to get all their hits into an hours set, so an hour full of fast paced fabulous music and weren't trying to introduce us to anything new. A bloody good hour

Privileged to have witnessed this great band in Wolverhampton last night. Phil has a terrific, distinctive, voice and what a stage presence! With a mix of gestures from Jagger and Cocker he adds another dimension to the band. Take nothing away from other band members though, they are a tight, extremely competent unit. I cannot praise them enough - absolutely brilliant!

This was our first time seeing The Temperance Movement and they rocked so much, that I was overly glad we made the hour long drive from Bloomington, IL to Peoria, IL. They have such a great stage presence and energy that is totally infectious, making everyone around them want to dance, cheer and sing along! We enjoyed every minute!

The Temperance Movement are an incredibly exciting live act. We've seen them twice now and the energy created is absolutely amazing. Phil Campbell puts 110% into every performance and the band ensure he is always safe. He may dance like a drunken Dad but it would have to be the coolest Dad on the planet. ;-)

The Temperance Movement were fantastic.. Great presence and all talented musicians.. Great mix of old and new tracks.. Sound could have been better but I was near the stage so might well have sounded better nearer the back of the venue..

Cannot recommend them higher.. Excellent gig..

The Temperance Movement were awesome, yet again. Phil Campbell is one of the greatest front men ever, his moves are a must see!!! His voice is something special. If you haven't yet had the pleasure, do yourself a favour and go see them. You won't be disappointed.

The Temperance Movement, tour review: Retro swagger and moves like Jagger

temperance movement uk tour

With The Temperance Movement’s modern take on classic rock sitting alongside several David Bowie records in the top 20, the current album chart is closer to the sound of the early Seventies than 2016.

In fact their second album, White Bear, owes more to American bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and the British blues explosion than Bowie. But The Temperance Movement still paid tribute at the Forum on a rendition of Ziggy Stardust that captured the original’s rampaging riffs if not its alien weirdness.

Wearing sunglasses and spray-on jeans, frontman Phil Campbell was a more obvious variety of rock star with a scorching vocal. With his flailing limbs, he moved like Jagger but sang like Rod Stewart in the Faces. Having spent last year in the US and Scandinavia, this was a long-awaited homecoming for the group. They seemed genuinely thrilled to be back playing new, bigger tunes during a tight, swaggering performance.

Oh Lorraine boasted a killer guitar riff that resembled a souped-up banjo and Modern Massacre was ferocious, while their harmonies had shades of Crosby, Stills & Nash. Although their vintage sound is a little mystifying the set was mercifully free of stodgy blues-rock longueurs, even when they jammed on Smouldering.

Latest music reviews

temperance movement uk tour

For a band made up of journeymen who previously played with Busted and Jamiroquai, The Temperance Movement have found their fire together as a live unit. During White Bear and the grinding guitars of Battle Lines, this spirited comeback was as rousing as it was retro.

The Temperance Movement launch electrifying live version of Caught In The Middle

With new album A Deeper Cut about to explode into the charts, The Temperance Movement have released a live video of album opener Caught In The Middle

The Temperance Movement

The Temperance Movement have released a live video of Caught In The Middle , the opening track from their new album A Deeper Cut , which was released on Friday . The footage was shot at the YouTube Space in London.

“This is my favourite record we’ve made so far and I’m more excited about getting this out there than I have been about any of the previous albums,” says guitarist Paul Sayer. “I feel like we’ve really captured what the band is about on this one; I can’t wait for people to hear it and I can’t wait to get out on the road and play it live to everyone.”

“There isn’t an ounce of fat on this album,” adds new guitarist Matt White. “Everything that is on there happened because it was absolutely necessary and vital that it was put down. It’s both a nod to the past and a wink to the future. It was a pleasure to be involved in writing and recording with The Temperance Movement for the first time. I feel that together, with [producer] Sam Miller, we have surpassed any expectations that were placed upon us and that we have produced the finest body of work from the band to date.”

The new album also marks the recording debut of drummer Simon Lea, who replaced founder member Damon Wilson in early 2017 . The Temperance Movement are currently on tour (dates below).

What to expect

Visions of Nature uses mixed reality glasses which allow you to simultaneously interact with physical and virtual environments.

While wearing the glasses, you’ll be able to see the people and room around you. You'll also hear music, narration and see 3D interactive holograms in front of you.

This makes the experience interactive, as reactions can be shared with others taking part and your own actions, such as holding out a hand, plays a role in the experience.

How do I use the Microsoft HoloLens?

Our staff will help you put on the HoloLens 2 device and collect it from you at the end.

The HoloLens 2 device is similar to wearing a construction or bike helmet and has a flexible band that fits over many hairstyles and head coverings.

The headsets can still be worn if you wear glasses, simply adjust the visor so it fits over your frames. If you have a preexisting vision disorder, please speak to your doctor before using the HoloLens 2 device.

Some people may experience discomfort, such as nausea, motion sickness, dizziness, disorientation, headache, fatigue, eye strain, or dry eyes when using mixed reality, particularly as they adjust to using it. If symptoms are severe or don't go away quickly, consult your doctor.

Warning: Photosensitive seizures

Some people may experience epileptic seizures or blackouts when exposed to lights or patterns in mixed reality or projected environments.

Even if you have no history of seizures or epilepsy, you may have an undiagnosed condition that could cause photosensitive seizures while taking part in the experience.

These seizures may have a variety of symptoms, including lightheadedness, altered vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation, confusion or momentary loss of awareness. Photosensitive seizures may also cause loss of consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling or from striking nearby objects.

If you experience any of these symptoms, immediately stop using the HoloLens 2 device and consult a doctor. Parents should watch for or ask their children about the above symptoms, as children and teenagers are more likely than adults to experience these seizures.

Visitors with photosensitive epilepsy should consult a doctor before using HoloLens 2 devices.

Accessibility and important information

Accessibility.

Due to the size of the headsets, Visions of Nature is only suitable for ages 8+.

The HoloLens 2 device weighs about 570 grammes, slightly more than a small bag of sugar. You'll need to be able to support the headset for the duration of the approximately 20-minute experience.

The experience is created using images and narration that are intended to be seen and heard. Though some context is given to each scenario featured, the holographic animations and physical specimens will not be audio described.

We aim to provide the widest possible access to Visions of Nature, and all of the headsets have adjustable volume levels and subtitles.

For more information, visit  Access at South Kensington .

Visitor information
