Thailand Frequently Asked Questions

We help you prepare for your trip and ensure an effortless and enjoyable travel experience.

How many days are enough for Thailand?

Thailand is one of the most sought-after destinations, especially for those planning their first international trip. From radiant beaches and majestic temples to delicious street food, exotic spa treatment, and bustling shopping hubs, there is something for everyone in Thailand. Also, there are many exciting places to visit nearby, such as Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai, and more. So, the number of days in Thailand depends on your requirements and the places you wish to visit. However, to get the most out of Thailand, you should plan on spending about at least 6 to 8 days. You can check and book any of our Thailand packages with an itinerary that includes all popular places in the country.

Is Thailand safe to travel to?

Yes, Thailand is a safe country to travel even if you are a solo traveller. However, you should always take safety precautions and be aware of your surroundings when travelling to Thailand, or anywhere for that matter. As long as you stay alert, be cautious and keep an eye on your belongings, etc., you will not have to worry about it. Also, COVID-19 restrictions and preventative measures are still in effect in many places, so be prepared with proof of vaccination or a test result. Additionally, we assure your safety and security throughout the visit with Veena World’s Thailand tour package.

What should avoid in Thailand?

Thailand is a must-visit country for any budding traveller. But to enjoy your trip to the fullest, you should know what to do and what not to. It is a country dominated by the Buddhist school of thought, so it is wise to maintain more silence and avoid being loud. Drugs and gambling are illegal, so you must avoid them. Some other avoidable things include avoiding touching anyone's head as it is seen as disrespectful, overstaying your visa period, wearing shoes at religious places, clicking pictures with animals, and drinking tap water. Book from the best of Thailand holiday packages, but be aware of things to do and not to do in this beautiful and culturally-rich country.

What are the most popular tourist attractions in Thailand?

Whether you are a fun traveller, an avid history buff, or a nature enthusiast, Thailand has all the attractions to please everyone. From sleepy mountain villages to bustling cities and pristine islands, you can find everything here. Some of the best places to visit here are Railay tops, one of the best beaches in the country, Phi Phi Islands, The Grand Palace, Bangkok, Sukhothai Old City, Historic City of Ayutthaya, Beaches of Koh Samui, Doi Suthep, Floating Markets, Kanchanaburi Bridge, Waterfalls at Erawan National Park and more. You can select the best Thailand trip package from Veena World that includes the places listed above and enjoy an unforgettable trip with your family and friends.

Is Thailand worth visiting?

Absolutely! Thailand is called one of the jewels of Southeast Asia, and for a reason. There are many attractions in Thailand, and each provides a great experience in its own way. So, everyone should visit this country at least once in their lifetime to explore the local culture, exotic wildlife, welcoming people, magnificently-structured temples, and many more. Thailand is known as the Land of Smile, where your trip experience is sure to stay with you for a long time! What travelers say about their Thailand tours

Travel tips for thailand trips.

Thailand uses the Thai baht, abbreviated as THB or ฿.

The country’s official language is Thai, also known as Central Thai. Additionally, several regional dialects and minority languages are spoken in Thailand. These include Isan (Northeastern Thai), Kam Mueang (Northern Thai), and Dambro (Southern Thai). English is widely understood in tourist areas. However, learning a few basic Thai phrases goes a long way. “Thank you” (khob khun kha/krap, with the last word changing according to gender and “excuse me” (kho thot) are always appreciated.

Thailand has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round, but its weather can be broadly divided into three seasons:

  • Rainy season (May-October). This time of year brings frequent afternoon showers, high humidity, and flourishing greenery. Temperatures stay warm, typically between 80-90 F. While storms can disrupt outdoor plans, they tend to be brief and followed by sunshine.
  • Cool season (November-February). This is considered the peak tourist season due to its pleasant weather. Temperatures are cooler and more comfortable, ranging from 70-80 F. Furthermore, rainfall is minimal, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities and sightseeing.
  • Hot season (March-April). This is the hottest and driest time of year in Thailand. Sunshine dominates, with little to no rain, and temperatures can soar into the high 90s—even exceeding 100 F in some areas.

No matter when you visit Thailand , you’ll likely experience warm weather. The best season for your trip depends on your preferences for temperature, rain, and crowds. Here’s a breakdown:

  • High season (November-March). This is Thailand’s peak tourist season, and for good reason. The weather is delightful, with comfortable temperatures ranging from 70-80 F. There’s also minimal rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. (And with clear skies, you’ll have ample opportunity to snap postcard-worthy photos.
  • Shoulder season (April, May, and October). The shoulder seasons in Thailand offer a good balance of good weather and smaller crowds. From April to May, the weather gets hotter, but not as scorching as it does in the hot season. October’s the tail end of the rainy season, with less frequent and intense showers.
  • Low season (July-September). Thailand’s rainy season sees frequent afternoon showers and high humidity. While it might not be the ideal time for all travelers, it has its charm. The landscapes are at their most lush, and there are significantly fewer crowds. You’ll also find the best deals on flights and accommodations.

A Thailand trip is always incredible, but having the right stuff in your suitcase makes every day better. Here are some essentials to pack:

  • Sun protection. Whether we’re talking big floppy hats, chic sunglasses, or your favorite sunscreens, you need to be ready for sunny days in Thailand. And because Southeast Asia can get very humid, it’s a good idea to bring a fan to help cool you down.
  • Lightweight, breathable layers. Thailand is a tropical country with hot, humid weather year-round. Pack loose-fitting, comfortable clothes made from lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen.
  • Full-coverage layers for religious sites. When visiting temples, your clothes should cover most of your body. For men, that means full pants and shirts with sleeves. For women, dresses or skirts that go beyond the knee and tops that cover the shoulders—nothing too tight—will do the trick. A jacket or shawl also works.
  • Rain protection. For Thailand tours during the rainy season, take an umbrella everywhere you go. It might be clear during the day, but you never know when a tropical storm might arrive—even if it’s just for 20 minutes. Light, waterproof jackets and shoes will keep you comfortable, too.
  • Comfortable walking shoes. Whether you’re strolling around a palace or boarding boats that’ll whisk you to floating markets, you’ll want your most comfortable footwear with you.
  • Swimwear. Thailand boasts stunning beaches and islands. Pack a swimsuit or two, a beach cover-up, and a quick-drying towel.
  • Small carry-on. On our Thailand tours , you’ll fly in-country several times between provinces. A carry-on bag ensures you’ll have all your essentials close at hand.

Once you’ve reserved one of our Thailand travel packages , we’ll send you detailed information about what to bring. Download the free Go Ahead Tours app before you take off, so you’ll have all the info you need about your trip right in your pocket.

The Land of Smiles contains a captivating blend of ancient temples, stunning beaches, energetic metropolises, and scenic natural beauty. Here are some of the best places to visit in Thailand, catering to a range of interests:

  • Bangkok . Thailand’s bustling capital has something for everyone. You can marvel at the grandeur of the Grand Palace, explore Wat Arun’s architectural splendor, take a scenic cruise along the Chao Phraya River, and indulge in the city’s street food scene.
  • Phuket. On Thailand’s largest island, you can relax on world-class beaches like Patong or Kata; explore historical sites like Phuket Old Town; indulge in the nightlife; or embark on diving and snorkeling adventures.
  • Chiang Mai . The largest city in Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai, boasts rich cultural heritage and laid-back charm. Explore ancient temples like Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, delve into lively night markets, and visit elephant sanctuaries for a unique encounter.

Thai food encompasses many delicious dishes—but ultimately, the best way to discover your favorite is by exploring the country’s culinary scene yourself! Here’s a sampling of the most popular foods to try during your Thailand travel :

  • Pad Thai. This stir-fried noodle dish is a classic for a reason. Rice noodles are stir-fried with protein (chicken, pork, shrimp, or tofu), vegetables, egg, and a flavorful tamarind-based sauce. It’s a crowd-pleaser with a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and sour flavors.
  • Tom Yum Goong. This hot-and-sour shrimp soup is another iconic Thai dish. Made fragrant by lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, and chilies, it packs a flavorful punch with refreshing sourness. Shrimp, mushrooms, tomatoes, and a lime wedge complete this delightful soup.
  • Chicken curry. If you love curry, Thailand is the place to be. Every restaurant prepares its curry just a little differently, depending on local ingredients. Expect a delicious mix of lemongrass, coconut milk, shallots, coriander, and garlic, along with chilies to spice it up.
  • Thai coconut pancakes. Got a sweet tooth? Satisfy it with one of Thailand’s favorite street foods: creamy, crispy, and delightfully sweet coconut pancakes. These bite-sized, mouthwatering snacks can be found wherever street foods are sold. They’re perfect as a quick snack or a sweet ending to a meal.

We recommend spending nine to 22 days on a Thailand tour . Trips on the shorter end of this range will allow you to hit some of the country’s most popular sites—places like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai—while longer itineraries should give you more freedom to explore. If you’d like to spend time on Phuket, Koh Samui, and other, smaller islands, choose a longer tour.

Whether seeking adventure, relaxation, cultural experiences, or culinary delights, Thailand offers it all. Here are some of the most popular things to do there:

  • Tour the Grand Palace in Bangkok. The official residence of the Siamese royal family for over 200 years, the Grand Palace is the cultural heart of Thailand. A must-see for any visitor to Bangkok, its temples are covered in glistening gold and filled with colorful statues and opulent carvings.
  • Visit an elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai.  In Thailand, elephants are a revered national symbol. Many sanctuaries, including ChangChill in Chiang Mai, provide a haven for rescued elephants. You can visit one to learn more about these beautiful animals and see them up close.
  • Relax on the beaches of Phuket or Krabi.  Thailand boasts some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, and places like Phuket and Krabi are popular tourist destinations with stunning sands and clear waters. You’ll also find some of the best diving and snorkeling on the planet.

A vibrant country of contrasts, Thailand attractions go well beyond typical tourist fare. Here are some unique adventures that await you:

  • Sail through the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. This commercial center is unique because vendors and shoppers do business from their own boats. You’ll sail along, jockeying for space as people haggle for the best produce, food, and other local specialties. If you want to soak in the energy, pull up to a flower market—it’s considered one of the best places to get a glimpse of Thai life.
  • Visit the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Also known as Wat Pho, this 16th-century temple is one of the oldest in Bangkok. The temple’s centerpiece is its 150-foot-long, 50-foot-tall, gold leaf-covered statue of the Buddha reclining on his side. (It’s one of the largest Buddha statues in Thailand!)
  • Sample teas at an oolong plantation. A visit to an oolong tea plantation isn’t just about the tea itself; it’s about time-honored traditions, connections to the land, and the warm hospitality of the Thai people.

By understanding and practicing the cultural norms of this beautiful country, you’ll show respect for Thai traditions and have a more positive and enriching experience. Here are some things to be aware of:

  • Respecting Thai culture. Thailand is predominantly Buddhist, and temples are sacred places. When visiting one, dress modestly (with shoulders and knees covered) and remove your shoes before entering. Avoid physical contact with monks, and always give them the right of way. Finally, don’t photograph monks without permission.
  • Bargaining. At markets and with street vendors, bargaining is expected. Be polite and have fun with the negotiation process.
  • Greetings and demeanor. The wai is a traditional Thai greeting, made with palms pressed together at chest level. The deeper the bow and higher the hands, the more respect is conveyed. A slight wai with a smile is appropriate for everyday greetings.
  • Public displays of affection (PDA). Avoid excessive PDA, which can be seen as disrespectful.

Duration :  04 Nights / 05 Days

Destinations : Bangkok – Chiangmai – Chiangmai Temple Tour – Safari World

Thailand is a must-see destination for travellers looking to explore its beautiful culture and natural landscape. Explore the country with our Thailand Holiday Package itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival In Chiang Mai

Upon arrival at the Chiang Mai International Airport, our tour representative will welcome you and help you transfer to the hotel. We’ll brief you about the tour and explain the etiquette to be followed in the religious places. Chiang Mai is a beautiful city famous for its handicrafts, including silverware, lacquerware, woodwork, and umbrellas. But what makes it even more special is the city’s ancient and unique temples. When in Chiang Mai, don’t miss the beautiful temples, chedis, boutique hotels, and local night markets. It is also an excellent place for adventure lovers with a range of activities, including ziplining, river rafting, camping, trekking, and ATV riding. Spend the day enjoying the city at your leisure and stay overnight at a Chiang Mai hotel.

Day 2: Chiang Mai Temple Tour

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the buffet. Your first stop for the day is Wat Chedi Luang, a 14th-century temple famous for its enormous Buddhist chedi, built in the Lanna architecture. Some of the other temples included in the Chiang Mai Temple Tour include: Wat Phra Singh – This 14th-century temple has a distinct Lanna architecture but is also influenced by neighbouring Burmese and Sri Lankan architecture. The temple is also famous for its intricate art, including sculptures, doors, windows, and panels. Wat Suan Dok – Also called Wat Buppharam, this 14th-century temple features Lanna-style architecture and houses a 500-year-old bronze statue of Buddha. And if you’re at the right time, don’t miss the annual temple fair held in June every year. After the Chiang Mai Temple Tour, we’ll conclude the day with a visit to the Chiang Mai market, which is famous for Thai handicrafts, including clothes, souvenirs, and jewellery.

Day 3: Chiang Mai To Bangkok

Today, you’ll catch your flight to Bangkok, but not before sampling a scrumptious breakfast buffet featuring Indian, Thai, and Continental delicacies. And, of course, a huge range of exotic tropical fruits. As soon as you land in Bangkok, our tour representatives will help you check in to the hotel. Later, we’ll take you on a half-day tour of the city, covering a range of attractions, viz., the Wat Pho Temple, Wat Traimit Temple, and Wat Benchamabopit. You’ll end the day with some jade and souvenir shopping at Bangkok's many gem and jewellery shops. Spend the night at a Bangkok luxury hotel.

Day 4: Safari World – Bangkok

Today, you will explore Safari World, a 200-acre open-air zoo. This is Asia’s largest open-air zoo, home to various animals and birds, including tigers, lions, and zebras. You mustn’t miss the zoo’s marine park, famous for its life shows, aquarium, and adventure zone. Some of the activities in Safari World include under-the-sea experiences, jungle cruise river tours, jungle walks, and orang-utan shows, sea lion shows, and dolphin shows. Spend the night at your hotel.

Day 5: Bangkok Departure

On the last day of your tour, we’ll take you to Indra Market to complete your shopping. Later, end the day with a return flight to India from the Bangkok International Airport.

Popular thailand tour packages, thailand tour packages faqs.

Q. Which is the best time to visit Thailand? A. As you finalise one of the Thailand packages, consider first its seasons and which most ideal for a visit. Although Thailand is a year-round destination, still it is a good idea to plan your travels in the cool and dry season. The time from November to April marks the cold season, bringing in tourists from all over the world. It is the best time to pursue water activities such as snorkelling and diving in Koh Samui, Phuket and Krabi. It is a good time to visit Phi Phi Islands in the south. In this season the days are warm with a gentle breeze floating down from the sea, with cooler nights. The humidity is also low. Even at this time the day temperature reaches a maximum of around 30 degree Celsius in Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui. You need to however avoid Koh Samui in this season as it receives torrential rainfall. Avoid July to August as it is the monsoon season in Thailand and frequent heavy rains can derail your itinerary, add to that the chaos on Bangkok’s already-bustling streets. May to June are the summer months when Thailand is quite hot and a time often picked by budget travellers as accommodation and flight prices typically go down owing to very low footfalls, the off- season in Thailand. Q. Are there direct flights from India to Thailand? A. Ahead of closing one of the Thailand tour packages, you need to first book your flights and check whether there are direct flights from the city where you live to Bangkok, Thailand’s capital. There are direct flights to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhoomi International Airport and Don Mueang Airport from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. You can fly onboard domestic carriers like IndiGo, national carrier Air India, GoFirst, Vistara and SpiceJet aside from international airlines serving the route such as Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, Druk Air, Emirates, Vietjet Air, Thai Smile to name a few. A direct flight from Delhi to Bangkok takes about 4.5 hours, with flights available at a wonderful frequency through the week at decent intervals. You can fly directly to Bangkok from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata. You can even fly directly from Delhi to Phuket onboard GoFirst, Thai Airways, IndiGo among others, with the average flight time being 4 hours and 30 minutes. Q. Which is the best beach destination in Thailand? A. There are several Thailand holiday packages to choose from. But you need to first decide the main purpose of your visit to Thailand, whether it is to experience the street scene, shopping or lazing on its balmy beaches. If it is the latter, you will be left spoilt for choice. Thailand has some stunning beaches lapped by azure waters. Thailand’s beaches are ideal whether you are a solo traveller, a large family, a group of friends or a honeymooning couple. The beach destinations cater to backpackers as well as the elderly and those travelling with children. Powdery white sands, limestone karsts, cosy coves and coconut palms characterise a typical Thai beach where diving, snorkelling and cave exploration opportunities galore, and where the life at a resort centres around the beaches. Krabi is known for its sea cliffs and the tropical vegetation that cover them, also popular with cliff climbers. Surfing enthusiasts prefer the waters of Koh Lipe while the kite-boarders like it at Hua Hin, with divers choosing Koh Tao for the opportunities it offers to spot whale sharks and other tropical fish. Phi Phi Islands, Pattaya and Phuket are ideal for beach bums who prefer to go for a lazy swim and generally soak up the sun while reading a book. For some holistic healing and breathtaking coastal scenery, go nowhere other than Koh Samui. The sunsets on the beach, the seafood offerings and the scope for endless walks make it a perfect retreat. Q. What is the climate of Thailand like? A. Thailand has three seasons, the summer, the monsoon and the winter. Summer begins from March and lasts through June with temperatures hovering between 33 and 48 degree Celsius in the day and plummeting to 27 degree Celsius in the night. The rainy months between July and November receive frequent to heavy rainfall towards early evening with temperature averaging around 32 degree in the day and a pleasant 16 degree Celsius in the nights. The winter or dry season between late November through February has day temperature hovering around 32 degree while the nights can be cool at 12 degree Celsius. This is invariable the most preferred season to visit Thailand. Q. Is it safe to drink the local water in Thailand? A. Bottled water is preferred not just by the tourists but the locals as well. Those that use tap water prefer to boil it first before drinking. Take care when you are pouring ice in your drinks because they could well come from the tap water that may have bacteria or chemicals. But if you are having it at a proper cafe or restaurant, you don’t have to worry too much as the ice comes from government-checked ice factories. It is commonly known fact to not buy a bottle whose seal is broken. But never drink the local water at the street stalls and vendors. Q. Which is the most commonly spoken language in Thailand? A. Thai is the national language and also the most widely spoken one. While there are multiple dialects of Thai depending on the tribe and the ethnic group, English is the definite second language here. In Bangkok’s major business and commercial districts, English is spoken and written. Also in the hotels, shops and restaurants as well as most tourist landmarks English is easily understood and spoken. Q. Can I buy a local SIM card in Bangkok for my phone? A. It is very easy to procure one. You can buy a SIM card from a local Thai network provider and this can be used for placing both local and international calls. At the point of sale you will have to produce an identification proof such as passport. You can buy these phone cards even from the 7/11 outlets. Q. What are some important cultural do’s and don’ts in Thailand? A. Thai folks are polite and peace-loving and look down upon open confrontations. Also, do not show your impatience or frustration because it is considered a sign of weakness. The Thais believe that all conflicts and issues can be solved with a smile. At a temple you are required to wear a full leg covering pants or skirt. Women should not touch monks and everybody is expected to remove their shoes while entering a local’s house or a temple. PDA too is frowned upon. The Thais typically do not shake hands as well. Wai is the most common form of greeting said by folding your hands together. Q. What are the requirements of a Thai tourist visa? A. The documents required include a passport with at least a six month validity. A visa application form correctly filled out, your recent passport size photograph, your round trip air tickets and financial proof that you have 20,000 Thai Baht per person and 40,000 Thai Baht per family in your kitty. These documents need to be submitted to your nearest Thai embassy or consulate. The tourist visa ranges from three to six months. Q. What is the most commonly used currency in Thailand? A. Thai Baht is the national currency of Thailand. 1 Thai Baht is equal to approximately 2.23 Indian Rupees. You need substantial local currency to get around in Thailand because USD is not commonly accepted here. Ensure you have sufficient funds in your multi-currency card and some cash. It is better to purchase the Thai Baht locally as you will get a better rate here than in your home country. Q. Is it okay to bargain for anything I want to buy in Thailand? A. When an item comes with a price tag you are not expected to bargain. Although bargaining is central to the Thai shopping experience, make sure you have a healthy approach towards it. Don’t go at it tooth and nail, ensure that both you and the vendor reach a price that is comfortable to both parties involved. Hard bargaining is considered rude. Bangkok’s Sukhumvit district usually marks up the prices and you can get them to give you a good 60% discount. At other places around 10% is acceptable. Q. How should I pack for a Thailand holiday? A. Depends on the season in which you are visiting. In the monsoon months make sure you bring rain gear, closed shoes etc. In the dry winter season, get cotton clothes, but make sure you have some long-sleeved ones too with conservative necklines and full pants or skirts for visiting the temples. Beaches are of course another story. In the dry season, for the evenings, you could get a shrug or something slightly warm to keep you cosy when the temperature dips to a 12 degree Celsius. Q. Are there are direct flights from India to Thailand? A. Yes, from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhoomi or Don Mueang Airport there are direct flights by IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India, Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia among others. The journey time is approximately 4.5 hours and there are frequent flights through the week.

Best time to visit Thailand

Major festivals in thailand, things to do on your thailand trip.

Exotic, friendly, fun-loving, historical, tropical and cultured Thailand is a top tourist destination which radiates a divine golden hue all the way from its temples and glittering tropical beaches via the event comforting smile. If you want to enjoy the taste of the tropics, as part of your Thailand packages to Thailand, this time to create lifetime memories. Lying in the Southeast Asia, you will fall in love with a putrid whiff and crushing humidity of the Asian city, Thailand if you’re on a Thailand honeymoon package. But, when you emerge from the air-conditioned airport, you are likely to feel hot. It is the land of smiles which is, in fact, an Asian assault of beauty, cool, sleaze. It harbors scores of places of tourist attractions such as Pattaya, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, and others. Whether or not you are planning for long vacation trips, you need to look for Thailand hotels on your Thailand packages. There are a lot many outstanding hotels to meet the needs of the tourists. Thailand's top tourist destinations include

  • If you are traveling from Mumbai on our Thailand trip cost from Mumbai, then Bangkok is a bustling metropolis with a lot to see and do.
  • Chiang Mai is the cultural centre of Thailand and is renowned for its delectable cuisine.
  • Thai Islands: Choose from party islands, yoga retreats, scuba hotspots, developed resorts, and undeveloped beaches. For every kind of traveller, there is an island. Advice: Before choosing whether to visit the Andaman Coast or the Gulf, do some study on the weather at the time you'll be there. They have almost completely different weather patterns.

Thai is the official language of Thailand. To manage your Thailand trip cost from India you must know that hailand's official currency is the Thai Baht.

Credit Cards and ATMs: You won't have any trouble locating ATMs in Thailand's major cities, such as Bangkok and Phuket, and the majority of merchants take credit cards. However, you'll need cash to pay for your items if you intend to buy at the neighbourhood markets.

Plugs: Types A, B, and C plugs are available in Thailand. Both the standard voltage and frequency are 230 V and 60 Hz, respectively. I advise using a converter for hairdryers and other hot instruments and purchasing a universal adapter (make sure it has surge protection).

Thailand is one of the safest countries for female visitors travelling alone or with our Thailand family tour package, in our opinion. Petty theft and tourist scams are always a concern, so you’re safer with our Thailand group tour packages, but you should still be mindful of your surroundings.

In Thailand, tipping is not customary unless you are in a posh location. However, it is customary and nice to leave loose change or round up while dining out. It's also usual to provide a little gratuity after getting a massage.

Buddhism is the official religion of the nation, and temples and shrines may be found all throughout the place. Cover your shoulders and your legs above the knees while entering places of worship.

On your Thailand tour package from India, you will realize that Thailand has a tropical climate with three distinct seasons. Despite the fact that there is a "rainy season," precipitation can happen at any time of the year, so it is better to be ready on your Thailand trip from India. The dry season, which runs from November to April, is the ideal time to visit Thailand since the weather is picture-perfect for outdoor activities and temperatures are milder. The main drawback is that it coincides with the busiest travel period in Thailand. the cost of travel and lodging rises, and the beaches on Phuket and Krabi will be full of people. If you want to avoid the crowds, plan your Thailand trip from India between May and October. While you will have to contend with often daily, short-lived rainstorms, you’ll be rewarded with cheaper flights and lower hotel rates. Most ideal if you’re looking for Thailand packages for couple.

  • Hot season: March to May
  • Cool season: November to February
  • Rainy season: June to October

Peak season for tourists is typically from November to February, so this will be the busiest and most expensive time to visit.

When not to go in Thailand:

  • Avoid travelling to Chiang Mai from mid-February to early April, if at all feasible. Air quality can be quite poor during this "burning season."
  • Rainy season runs from May to October in the Andaman Sea (Krabi, Phi Phi, Phuket, and Koh Lanta).
  • The rainiest months are October and November in the Gulf Islands (Koh Tao, Koh Chang, and Phang Nga Samui).

Thailand has many colorful and exciting festivals that are fun for visitors and locals alike.

  • Songkran, April 13 – 15: Thai New Year festival with lots of water gun fights in the streets of Thailand’s major cities
  • Loi Krathong & Yi Peng, November*: These 2 festivals happen around the same time, and they are often referred to as the “festivals of lights” for the lanterns released into the sky and the candlelit “boats” released into the river. The best place to celebrate these festivals is in Chiang Mai.

Quick Facts about Thailand to plan your Thailand Trip

You have to consider a lot of factors when scheduling your Thailand trip, such as the places you want to visit, the type of activities you want to experience, etc. Generally, the period between November and April is considered the best time to visit Thailand for tourism purposes. It is the period when the country experiences a massive influx of tourists from all corners of the globe. If you are looking to learn about the type of experience each Thailand tourism season has to offer, refer to the following pointers;

Winter in Thailand

The winter season, which stretches from November to February, is widely considered the best time to visit Thailand from India. The temperature during this period stays very pleasant, with an average range of 15°C to 28°C. The cool and dry weather conditions are perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities across the country, thus attracting thousands of visitors. Individuals love to go for trekking and scuba diving adventures when visiting Thailand during this season. Even though most regions in the country experience clear weather, some parts, like Koh Tao, Koh Samui, etc., receive their fair share of rain showers. So, if you are planning on visiting this beautiful country in winter, make sure to carry your rain gear. Also, try to make bookings for hotels and transfers in advance to avoid any issues with peak season unavailability.

Summer in Thailand

Summer in Thailand begins somewhere around March and extends till June. Contrary to winter, the weather conditions during this season stay hot and dry. The average temperature range during summer in Thailand stays around 32°C to 40°C. People usually like to avoid scheduling their trip to this country in these months. It is because the weather conditions make tourist activities like sightseeing and exploration a bit difficult. On the upside, you can secure great discounts on transfers and accommodations as summer is the low season for Thailand tourism. April is the best month to visit Thailand during summer for water adventures.

Monsoon in Thailand

Besides winter, the monsoon is considered the best season to visit Thailand for tourism. It extends from July to October, with an average temperature range of 24°C to 28°C for the most part. During this period, the country experiences heavy rain, which leads to flooding in certain places. Hence, some people like to avoid scheduling their trips during these months. However, there are many parts where the rain doesn’t cause any hindrance to tourist activities. Moreover, the rain enhances the beauty of the places surrounded by lush greenery, cascading waterfalls and swift-flowing rivers. If you wish to visit Thailand during these months, make sure to pack proper rain gear and check weather forecasts before going out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to get around thailand.

Thailand has a well-developed transportation network, making it easy to get around the country. Domestic flights are the fastest option for traveling between major cities, while trains offer a more scenic and affordable alternative. Long-distance buses are also a popular choice for budget travelers. For exploring cities and smaller towns, tuk-tuks, songthaews (shared taxis), and motorbikes are convenient options.

What are some of the must-see places in Thailand?

Thailand is home to a wealth of cultural attractions, natural wonders, and vibrant cities. Some of the must-see places include:

1. Grand Palace: The former royal residence in Bangkok, showcasing stunning architecture and intricate details.

2. Wat Pho: Home to the iconic Reclining Buddha statue, Wat Pho is one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok.

3. Ancient City: A vast park showcasing replicas of Thailand’s most iconic landmarks, from temples to palaces.

4. Phra Nang Beach: A secluded cove in Krabi, renowned for its towering limestone cliffs, white sand, and turquoise waters.

5. Wat Rong Khun: The White Temple in Chiang Rai, a whimsical and unconventional temple with intricate carvings and whitewashed walls.

6. Ayutthaya Historical Park: The ruins of the former capital of Thailand, offering a glimpse into the country’s rich history.

7. Khao Sok National Park: A lush rainforest with towering limestone mountains, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife.

8. Similan Islands: A group of pristine islands in the Andaman Sea, renowned for their stunning coral reefs and marine life.

9. Pai: A charming mountain town in northern Thailand, known for its laid-back atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and backpacker vibe.

What to Wear Thailand?

Thailand has a tropical climate, so pack light and breathable clothing. Shorts, t-shirts, and sundresses are appropriate for most occasions. However, when visiting temples or other religious sites, it’s respectful to cover your shoulders and knees. Pack a swimsuit for swimming and beach activities, and a light jacket or sweater for evenings and cooler days.

What is the currency in Thailand?

The official currency of Thailand is the Thai baht (THB). You can exchange currency at banks, airports, and money changers. Credit cards are widely accepted in major cities and tourist areas, but it’s a good idea to carry some cash for smaller transactions and rural areas.

What is the food like in Thailand?

Thai cuisine is known for its vibrant flavors, fresh ingredients, and balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy elements. Popular dishes include Pad Thai, a stir-fried rice noodle dish; Tom Yum Goong, a spicy and sour shrimp soup; and Green Curry, a fragrant curry with coconut milk. Vegetarian and vegan options are becoming increasingly available in Thailand.

Thailand, a magnetic tapestry of experiences, beckons adventurers with its unparalleled diversity. Explore the ancient wonders of Ayutthaya’s temples, then get lost in the dynamic rhythm of Bangkok’s bustling streets. Whether you’re seeking tranquility on the pristine beaches of Phuket or craving adventure in the lush jungles of Chiang Mai, with our Thailand tour packages, we make sure you have it all. The culinary scene is a kaleidoscope of flavors, from aromatic street vendors to upscale fusion dining. Yet, beyond the vibrant landscapes and tantalizing cuisine, it’s the genuine smiles of the Thai people that make every moment extraordinary. In Thailand, the journey is not just a destination; it’s a symphony of unforgettable encounters.
