The Killers announce outdoor shows on huge 2022 Australia tour

Is there anything more perfect than shouting along to The Killers in the sunshine?

Get your dancing shoes ready because American rockers The Killers are heading our way in 2022.

The November and December tour dates will be The Killers’ first time back on our shores since their 2018 Australasian tour, which included ten sold-out arena shows. But the band did give us a little taste about what we can expect from the tour when they headlined Splendour In The Grass’s virtual festival, Splendour XR earlier this year.

As well as playing arenas in major capital cities, they will also perform two unforgettable a day on the green shows alongside an outdoor show at some of Australia’s most beautiful wineries.

Talk about the perfect way to experience The Killers’ incredible catalogue of hits.

The Killers 2022 Australia Tour Dates

  • December 10, 2022, – Mt Duneed Estate | Geelong VIC
  • December 17, 2022, – Hope Estate | Hunter Valley NSW

The Killers will tour our shores as part of their 2022 Imploding The Mirage World Tour, which will see the band playing headline shows and festivals across the globe in celebration of their sixth album, the ARIA #1  Imploding The Mirage .

Earlier this year, while touring was still on hold due to the ongoing pandemic, The Killers released their seventh studio album, the quieter, character-study-driven album,  Pressure Machine .  The resulting record is an aural document of growing up, and living, in the American Southwest.

So it’s safe to say that alongside classic hits like ‘Mr Brightside’, ‘When We Were Young’, ‘Human’, ‘The Man’, and ‘Bones’, The Killers have got a stack of new music to show Australian fans.

Since bursting on to the scene in 2004 with their double platinum debut album Hot Fuss, The Killers have gone on to sell over 30 million albums worldwide and headline some of the biggest festivals and stages in the world – cementing their place in music fans hearts and playlists in every corner of the globe.

Don’t miss your chance to see The Killers perform in these special, not-to-be-missed outdoor concerts when they land on Australian shores in 2022.

The Killers will bring their new albums Imploding The Mirage and Pressure Machine to Australian stages in November and December 2022. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster.com.au.

Top tips for getting tickets to The Killers Australian tour?

When are The Killers touring Australia?

The Killers will bring their Imploding The Mirage Tour to Australia in November and December 2022. They will play three special outdoor concerts:

  • South Australia – Saturday 3 December | Peter Lehmann, Barossa Valley
  • Victoria – Saturday 10 December |  Mt Duneed Estate, Geelong
  • New South Wales – Saturday 17 December | Hope Estate, Hunter Valley

When do tickets for The Killers Australia tour go on sale?

The Killers will bring their new albums Imploding The Mirage and Pressure Machine to Australian stages in November and December 2022. Tickets go on sale to the general public from Monday 15 November @ 2pm (local) via Ticketmaster.com.au.

Make sure you have a My Ticketmaster account

Get the basics covered before tickets go on sale by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster Account then make sure you sign up in advance –  Ticketmaster.com.au .

Sign into your My Ticketmaster account ahead of time

Remember to triple check your passwords, account information, and billing information are all filled in correctly in advance, that way you’re not facing any last-minute account updates when trying to process your order.

Keep your options open with ‘Best Available’

Save time by searching “Best Available,” which scans all sections fast – it’s quicker than searching sections one at a time.

Keep an eye on the clock

There will be a time limit applied to all transactions as they’re progressed through the ticket purchasing stages. Remember to keep an eye on the timer on your screen and move through the processing pages as quickly as possible (this is even easier when you’ve completed the account set-up stage we mentioned above).

Don’t refresh your screen

Stick to one window while you’re in the Waiting Room and when you’re being pushed through the Smart Queue and always resist the urge to refresh.

Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.

Remember: there are a lot of fans

We’re expecting this to be a very popular event. When a popular event goes on sale there are hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of customers all attempting to purchase tickets at the same time. Tickets are sold as long as seats are available, and when an act is as popular as The Killers, sometimes they go very quickly.

Be sure to follow the above tips to ensure you have the best chance of snapping up some tickets.

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: The Killers Australian tour tickets go on general sale from Monday 15 November @ 2pm (local) via Ticketmaster.com.au.

‘The Killers are... the pinnacle of live music performances and should be seen for both the spectacle and showmanship of the band.’ – The Advertiser

Earlier this year while touring was still on hold due to the ongoing pandemic, The Killers released their seventh studio album, the quieter, character-study-driven album, Pressure Machine .  The resulting record is an aural document of growing up - and living - in the American Southwest, told from a myriad of perspectives.  Pressure Machine includes ‘Quiet Town’ and ‘Runaway Horses (featuring Phoebe Bridgers)’. The band performed album track ‘ In Another Life’ live on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Imploding The Mirage  was self-produced by the band in partnership with musical engineer Shawn Everett (The War On Drugs, Kacey Musgraves, Beck) and Foxygen multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Rado. The album, as a whole, is heavily influenced by the likes of Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen and New Order and promises something of a return to the Heartland Rock sounds of much-loved albums like Sam’s Town and Battle Born .  The list of featured artists includes Lindsey Buckingham, kd lang, Weyes Blood, Adam Granduciel (War On Drugs), Blake Mills, and Lucius.

‘If ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ was an arm around a trembling shoulder, ‘Imploding The Mirage’ is a raised fist to the future. It’s the sort of attitude that could help us all endure such trying times, and The Killers’ sixth album sounds unbreakable too. They long ago reached their natural pumped-up radio rock peak, yet here sound as though they’ve been hitting the sonic steroids. The Killers have made another dazzling statement of ultra-modern pomp, and one arguably even more in step with new generations of alt-rock. It’s a musical DeLorean: rooted in mainstream Americana but speeding into adventurous horizons.’  ★★★★ – NME

The Killers first burst onto the scene in 2004, topping Australian charts and going double platinum with debut album Hot Fuss . Featuring hit singles ‘ Mr. Brightside ’ and ‘ Somebody Told Me ’, the album received instant popularity and widespread international success. Since then, the band have sold over thirty million albums worldwide, and headlined all of the world’s top festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury and received countless accolades including multiple Grammy nominations, American Music Award nominations, MTV Video Music Awards and NME Awards.   On the very same day that 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful hit #1 on the ARIA Album Chart, the band took to the stage at the hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground for the 2017 AFL Grand Final and absolutely nailed their set:

‘The Killers’ set has already started to be considered as one of the greatest AFL performances in recent years.’ - Tone Deaf

‘The Killers have killed it with the crowd at the AFL Grand Final as they kicked off pre-game festivities in front of a packed MCG with a bite-size rock festival’ - Herald Sun

The Killers are exceptionally well-loved down under with all ten shows on the band’s 2018 tour completely selling out.  Live music is back, secure tickets now for these not to be missed shows.

The Killers returning to Australia in November on their Imploding the Mirage Tour

Frontier Touring are thrilled to welcome The Killers back to Australia for four massive headline shows this November. This will be The Killers’ first time back on our shores since their 2018 Australasian tour which included ten completely sold-out arena shows.

The Australian leg of the Imploding The Mirage Tour kicks off at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Wednesday 11 November, before visiting Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Saturday 14 November, Perth’s RAC Arena on Wednesday 18 November, and wrapping up with the band’s first Melbourne stadium show at AAMI Park on Saturday 21 November.

The Killers will tour our shores as part of the Imploding The Mirage 2020 Tour, playing headline shows and festivals across the globe in celebration of their sixth studio album Imploding The Mirage (out Friday 29 May through Island Records/Universal Music Australia).

Today’s tour news coincides with the release of lead single ‘ Caution ’, the world’s first taste of Imploding The Mirage. The track is the band’s first new material since the January 2019 release of stand-alone single ‘ Land Of The Free ’. The official ‘ Caution ’ video will be released next week.

Imploding The Mirage was self-produced by the band in partnership with musical engineer Shawn Everett (The War On Drugs, Kacey Musgraves, Beck) and Foxygen multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Rado. The album as a whole is heavily influenced by the likes of Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen and New Order and promises something of a return to the Heartland Rock sounds of much-loved albums like Sam’s Town and Battle Born . The list of featured artists includes Lindsey Buckingham, kd lang, Weyes Blood, Adam Granduciel (War On Drugs), Blake Mills, and Lucius.

‘The Killers are, whether you like their music or not, the pinnacle of live music performances and should be seen for both the spectacle and showmanship of the band.’ – The Advertiser

The Killers first burst onto the scene in 2004, topping Australian charts and going double platinum with debut album Hot Fuss . Featuring hit singles ‘ Mr. Brightside ’ and ‘ Somebody Told Me ’, the album received instant popularity and widespread international success. Since then, the band have sold over twenty-five million albums worldwide, and headlined all of the world’s top festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury and received countless accolades including multiple Grammy nominations, American Music Award nominations, MTV Video Music Awards and NME Awards.

‘Brandon Flowers and co – with a little help from the Pet Shop Boys, Johnny Marr and the pyrotechnics department – provide one of those special Glastonbury Moments’ – ★★★★ The Guardian

The band’s most recent album Wonderful Wonderful (2017) peaked at #1 on both the Billboard and ARIA album charts and has amassed more than 342m+ combined streams globally to date. NME have since cited Wonderful Wonderful as the album where The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers “bares himself more than ever before” as a songwriter and further cementing this as the band’s “best album since 2006’s ‘Sam’s Town’.

On the very same day that Wonderful Wonderful hit #1 on the ARIA Album Chart, the band took to the stage at the hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground for the 2017 AFL Grand Final and absolutely killed their set:

‘The Killers’ set has already started to be considered as one of the greatest AFL performances in recent years.’ - Tone Deaf

The Killers are exceptionally well-loved down under, amassing more than 263 million streams and selling almost one million albums (and counting!) in Australia alone. THE KILLERS ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND IMPLODING THE MIRAGE TOUR 2022

THE KILLERS ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND IMPLODING THE MIRAGE TOUR 2022

THE KILLERS ANNOUNCE

Australia and new, zealand imploding, the mirage tour 2022.

Frontier Touring are thrilled to welcome The Killers back to Australia and New Zealand for a massive nine-date mix of arena and outdoor shows on their Imploding The Mirage Tour 2022 in November-December.  Originally announced in 2020 when COVID first halted worldwide touring, this will be The Killers’ first time back on our shores since their 2018 Australasian tour which included ten completely sold-out arena shows.

The Australia and New Zealand leg of the Imploding The Mirage Tour 2022 kicks off at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Monday 21 November, down to Christchurch Arena on Friday 25 November, before visiting Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Tuesday 29 November, over to Peter Lehmann* for an outdoor performance in the Barossa Valley, South Australia on Saturday 3 December, Perth’s RAC Arena on Tuesday 6 Decemberand Geelong’s Mt Duneed Estate* on Saturday 10 December. The Killers will then perform for audiences at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday 13 December, Hunter Valley’s Hope Estate on Saturday 17 December for another outdoor performance and wrapping up at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Monday 19 December.

Frontier Members can access their pre-sale from Thursday 11 November, before tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday 15 November.  For all ticketing information: frontiertouring.com/thekillers

The tour will see The Killers make their a day on the green debut with two big outdoor shows at: Peter Lehmann in the Barossa Valley, SA and Mt Duneed Estate, Geelong, VIC.    Tickets via adayonthegreen.com.au/thekillers

The Killers will tour our shores as part of the Imploding The Mirage Tour 2022 , playing headline shows and festivals across the globe in celebration of their sixth studio album, the critically-acclaimed ARIA #1 album Imploding The Mirage (out now through Island Records/Universal Music Australia) and it’s lead single ‘Caution’ .

‘The Killers are… the pinnacle of live music performances and should be seen for both the spectacle and showmanship of the band.’ – The Advertiser

Earlier this year while touring was still on hold due to the ongoing pandemic, The Killers released their seventh studio album, the quieter, character-study-driven album, Pressure Machine .  The resulting record is an aural document of growing up – and living – in the American Southwest, told from a myriad of perspectives.  Pressure Machine includes ‘Quiet Town’ and ‘Runaway Horses (featuring Phoebe Bridgers)’. The band performed album track ‘ In Another Life’ live on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The Killers above

‘The Killers’ set has already started to be considered as one of the greatest AFL performances in recent years.’ – Tone Deaf

‘The Killers have killed it with the crowd at the AFL Grand Final as they kicked off pre-game festivities in front of a packed MCG with a bite-size rock festival’ – Herald Sun

The Killers are exceptionally well-loved down under with all ten shows on the band’s 2018 tour completely selling out.  Live music is back, secure tickets now for these not to be missed shows.

the killers australian tour

Open up your eager eyes, Australia and New Zealand: The Killers are headed our way. With international tours starting back up again, the Las Vegas-born rockers will hit up a heap of arenas Down Under in November and December 2022 — and a few Aussie wineries, too, if you're keen on sipping vino while singing along to 'Mr Brightside'.

Destiny is calling you to shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Melbourne in Australia, plus winery gigs in the Barossa Valley, Geelong and the Hunter Valley, with most of the latter taking place as part of next year's A Day on the Green tour. In NZ, you'll be doing just fine at Auckland and Christchurch concerts — and no, there won't be any sick lullabies to swim through.

Given the band's lengthy back catalogue, Brandon Flowers and company won't just be playing 'Mr Brightside' on repeat, but will be making a hot fuss over plenty of their hits — including tracks from their 2020 album Imploding the Mirage . The tour is named after that record, even though they released another one, Pressure Machine , this year. That's what happens when live gigs get put on hold during a pandemic, clearly.

Remember: somebody told you that you'll be dancing along to 'Somebody Told Me', 'Smile Like You Mean It', 'When You Were Young', 'Bones', 'Human' and 'The Man' as well.

While the Aussie leg of The Killers' 2022 tour includes plenty of outdoor venues, the timing means that they won't be repeating their AFL Grand Final berth after stealing the show back in 2017.

As things start to open up again following the uncertainty of the pandemic, Australia is set to play home to some of the world’s most exciting musical acts once more.

Artists like Snoop Dogg, Dua Lipa and our very own RÜFÜS DU SOL have all announced they will be hitting our shores in 2022 and now Vegas rockers The Killers have jumped on the Aussie show bandwagon.

The beloved group, who exploded onto the scene in 2004 with their debut album Hot Fuss,  will play a nine-date mix of arena and outdoor shows in New Zealand and Australia on their Imploding The Mirage Tour 2022  in November and December.

The very best of The Latch delivered straight to your inbox.

Originally announced in 2020 when COVID first threw a spanner in the works of everything, this will be The Killers’ first time back on our shores since their 2018 Australasian tour which included ten completely sold-out arena shows.

Earlier in 2021 while touring was still on hold due to the ongoing pandemic, The Killers released their seventh studio album,  Pressure Machine,  which documents life in the American Southwest. The album spawned the singles ‘Quiet Town’ and ‘Runaway Horses (featuring Phoebe Bridgers)’.

Consisting of Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr, The Killers have sold over thirty million albums worldwide and headlined all of the world’s top festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury.

Having personally seen them headline Governor’s Ball Festival in New York in 2016, I can say without a hint of irony that watching these guys perform is one of the greatest things you will ever do. I mean, they actually stopped torrential rain with ‘Mr Brightside’ — no word of a lie.

In addition to dropping hit singles like ‘Somebody Told Me’, ‘When You Were Young’, ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ and ‘Read My Mind’, The Killers have racked up multiple Grammy nominations, American Music Award nominations, MTV Video Music Awards and NME Awards.

Check out Melbourne’s most comprehensive gig guide  here .

The shimmering star of Alex Cameron continues to shine bright, he’s a songwriter par excellence – conceptual and authentic and one of music’s most exciting artists. The effortlessly catchy synth-pop star and his sultry six-piece live band – including sax player and collaborator Roy Molloy – are a dynamic force, equal parts hip thrusting rhythm and tongue tantalising tunes.

In the sixteen years since his debut album, Jack Ladder’s varied musical journey has been notable for some sharp stylistic turns but has always been connected by a singular song writing talent.

Released back in May 2020, their sixth album  Imploding The Mirage  features a huge spread of collaborations with artists including Lindsey Buckingham, kd lang, Weyes Blood Adam Granduciel (War On Drugs), Blake Mills and Lucius. Drawing from influence ranging from Kate Bush to Peter Gabriel, the album sees The Killers exploring a new sonic direction. Having moved from their hometown in Las Vegas before writing and recording the album,  Imploding The Mirage  leaves behind the grit of the band’s Nevada roots, pushing them out of their comfort zone.

Selling more than 30 million albums worldwide, and headlining all of the world’s top festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, the band have gone on to receive countless accolades, including multiple Grammy nominations, American Music Award nominations, MTV Video Music Awards and NME Awards.

On the very same day that 2017’s  Wonderful Wonderful  hit #1 on the ARIA Album chart, the band took to the stage at the hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground for the 2017 AFL Grand Final and absolutely nailed their set, delivering exuberant energy that punters can expect from their forthcoming Australian tour.

The Killers Australia tour: The one song everyone knows

It seems hard to believe anyone could not know this song that has had more than two billion plays. But there is at least one person.

The Killers’ Dave Keuning, Brandon Flowers, Ronnie Vannucci Jr will return to Australia next year.

For a song that has had nearly two billion plays across streaming platforms, it’s hard to believe anyone doesn’t know Mr Brightside by The Killers.

But this TikTok videos shows there is at least one person who doesn’t know the iconic single from the Las Vegas band’s debut album Hot Fuss in 2004.

As people dance and sing along, the shot pans to one lonely punter in the corner frantically trying to find out the name of the song on Shazam.

Of course, it might be set up and the TikTok is just to prove that everyone under 40 does know the song.

Mr Brightside has become the band’s anthem, and one they still play at all gigs.

When they last toured Australia in 2018, they told news.com.au the song had taken on a life of its own.

@benchmob there’s no way he didn’t know (@Tara) ##thekillers ##party ##shazam ##mrbrightside ♬ original sound - benchmob

“It’s like happy birthday now,” drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr joked.

Singer Brandon Flowers added: “Something just happened over the last five years that we don’t really have an explanation for and that song has just grown.”

In 2015 Flowers said: “I never get bored of singing it.”

Next year The Killers return to Australia and New Zealand for a nine-date tour to promote their 2020 album Imploding The Mirage .

They were originally meant to tour last year but Covid-19 put an end to all that. So in the downtime The Killers recorded and released another album Pressure Machine .

The band - led by frontman Brandon Flowers - have always had strong links to Australia.

During their last tour in 2018, they covered Men At Work, The Vines, INXS and Crowded House.

In 2017 they played the AFL Grand Final and Richmond captain Jack Riewoldt famously came on stage during Mr Brightside after his team had won the premiership.

The Killers will play at Auckland, Barossa Valley, Brisbane, Christchurch, Geelong, Hunter Valley, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth during November and December 2022.

R&B singer Chris Brown’s latest concert did not go to plan – and he couldn’t hide his frustration as he hung around helplessly.

She’s suddenly hotter than ever, but it all got too much for this rising pop star during a recent concert as she wept at the crowd.

Taylor Swift has been filmed stopping mid-song during her Eras Tour to help a distressed fan get immediate help.

Production News

The killers’ killer light show.

The Killers returned to Australia and New Zealand for a massive ten-date mix of arena and outdoor shows on their Imploding The Mirage Tour 2022 in November and December.

Steven Douglas has been lighting the band for many years and for the first few shows of the tour in Mexico he used his old rig from the previous tour but with all new video content.

“Because of gear and time availability in Mexico it made more sense to use the old show file as it had every fixture under the sun already in it so we adapted that to fit the new content in terms of mood and colour and it gave me a chance to try things out before we got into the new design properly,” he commented. “We then travelled to the UK where we had a week of pre-production and a rig that included Ayrton Cobra, Domino and Perseo.”

the killers australian tour

The show was originally conceived for stadiums and a large video canvas behind the band was a must with most of the video content made by Moment Factory. Hailing from Las Vegas, the band are not shy about their roots and big, wide open space was the permeating idea behind the visuals. Big Picture supplied the entire worldwide tour.

The Australian shows were cut back with fewer truss fingers, no video columns left and right of the stage and no fancy new Ayrton lights! Adapted from the US shows, the truss configuration was a rear truss of 32 x Robe Megapointes with a truss in front of that holding 12 x Martin MAC Quantum Wash, 7 x Robe BMFL Blade and 18 x GLP JDC-1. The front truss held 12 more BMFL Blades, 11 MAC Quantum Wash and 16 x TMB Solaris Flare. Each of the five truss fingers held six x Ayrton Perseo and 5 x Ayrton MagicPanels.

the killers australian tour

On the floor upstage position were 18 x Ayrton Perseo, 12 x GLP X4 Bar 20 and 6 x JDC-1. Six 6’ pipes are located to the sides of the stage and each held a GLP X4 Bar 20. Solaris Flare was positioned along the stage edge. More Solaris Flare was placed above the Imag screens at the stadium shows with Ayrton Bora S hung under the screens.

The side torms were 8 x Megapointes and 2 x JDC1 per side.

Added to that were three ground control stations, one for each of the downstage performers, and three local FOH spots.

“The band trust me when it comes to their lighting although with newer songs they may have something particular in their mind that doesn’t gel with what I had in mind so we just adapt it to suit their vision,” remarked Steven. “Depending on the set list, I have some songs that are only six lights and others that are 200. A lot of the lighting has to be good for the camera as Instagram is such a thing these days.

the killers australian tour

“I’m running the show on an MA Lighting MA3 in MA2 mode. I was going to take the leap but around the time we were due to start, the latest software update was delayed and also I wasn’t prepared to make myself a festival guinea pig! It seems very solid for touring shows with the same rig every night but I was not sure about the cloning at festivals, especially with the number of festivals that we do  so I stuck with what I knew for now but I look forward to making the jump to MA3 Software soon”

Lighting and crew were supplied by Chameleon Touring Systems with Steven saying that he has been using them for years always with great results.

The Sydney show was the last show of the tour and so the band decided to do an after-show gig at Liberty Hall, fun for all but also hard work for the crew. An early morning load in at the club venue preceded the usual day at an arena and then back to the club immediately after the show at Qudos Arena finished.

“These small gigs give the band a chance to dust off songs that they wouldn’t usually do in an arena,” said Steven. “I will just use the house rig and busk the show, which keeps me on my toes. Tonight I’ve got a brand new rig at Liberty Hall and will be busking on MA3 in 3 mode for the first time so that will be fun!”

Here’s what The Killers played as they kicked off 2024 ‘Rebel Diamonds’ greatest hits UK and Ireland tour in Dublin

It marked one of their first shows back with Dave Keuning, and included a new arrangement of 'Dying Breed'

The Killers in Dublin, 2024

The Killers have kicked off their 2024 ‘ Rebel Diamonds’ greatest hits tour with an opening night in Dublin. Check out the setlist from the night and fan footage below.

  • READ MORE: The Killers on the cover: “There are a lot of young people unsure of their place in this world”

The gig took place in Dublin last night (June 12), as the opening night for the run of dates that the band will be holding across the UK and Ireland throughout the summer. It took place at the 3Arena and saw Brandon Flowers and co. break out a huge 22-song setlist, which included fan favourites from across their catalogue.

It also saw founding member Dave Keuning back in the line-up, following him leaving in 2017 to spend more time with his family . He confirmed that he wouldn’t be joining the band to tour their fifth studio album, ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ , seven years ago, but remained a member of the group.

While he did not contribute to their follow-up LP ‘Imploding The Mirage’ , he did join them in the studio back in 2021 for their seventh album ‘Pressure Machine’ . He also used his time away from the touring line-up to release solo music . These shows mark some of his first back on the road with The Killers.

To kick off last night’s gig, the band opened with a rendition of their 2006 track ‘Read My Mind’, followed by fan favourite ‘Somebody Told Me’, ‘Spaceman’ and ‘Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine’.

From there, they broke out performances of ‘Shot At The Night’, ‘Running Towards A Place’, ‘Be Still’ and more, before also performing a different arrangement of ‘Dying Breed’ as the last track before the encore.

“Before the magazine covers and the festival slots, before we ever set foot on a transatlantic jet, we were a band. We were full of piss and vinegar and, don’t tell anybody I told you this, we were also full of ambition,” Flowers told the crowd before launching into the reimagined track.

“A lot of people thought we were just full of shit, but there has been one sound so loud that drowned out all the critics and the haters. It wasn’t Dave’s guitar or Ronnie’s drums, and it wasn’t my voice. It was you. We come to town and you show up and we pick up right where we left off. Just like old friends. And you can’t make new old friends. So tonight this next song is our song. It’s about making a promise and keeping it. It’s about showing up.”

From there, the band returned to the stage for a five-song encore, which included ‘boy’, ‘Human’ and ‘Mr Brightside’. It also featured a cover of Erasure ’s track ‘A Little Respect’.

The performance also comes just weeks after the ‘Hot Fuss’ hit ‘Mr Brightside’ hit a huge milestone, and overtook Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ to become the UK’s official biggest single of all time yet to reach Number One .

According to figures from the Official Charts Company, it has UK sales and streams of 5.57million, yet never topped the charts.

Find more footage of the gig below, as well as the full setlist.

The Killers’ Dublin setlist was:

‘Read My Mind’ ‘Somebody Told Me’ ‘Spaceman’ ‘Jenny Was a Friend of Mine’ ‘Smile Like You Mean It’ ‘Shot at the Night’ ‘This River Is Wild’ Running Towards a Place’ ‘On Top’ ‘The Man’ ‘A Dustland Fairytale’ ‘Be Still’ ‘Runaways’ ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ ‘When You Were Young’ ‘Caution’ ‘Dying Breed’ ‘Your Side of Town’ ‘boy’ ‘A Little Respect’ (Erasure cover) ‘Human’ ‘Mr  Brightside’

Last night’s gig took place shortly after the band announced their last-minute concert in New York, which took place on the same day as the 20th anniversary for their seminal debut album ‘Hot Fuss’.

During the intimate gig, they broke out a performance of ‘Andy, You’re A Star’ for the first time in seven years .

Flowers and Co. have two more shows in Dublin lined up, followed by four stops in Manchester and three in Glasgow . They’ll then wrap up the tour with six nights at The O2 in London. Visit here for last-minute tickets.

NME spoke to Brandon Flowers last year , with the frontman sharing the news of his upcoming solo album. “I’m making a solo record right now! I almost had it wrapped up,” he said. “The goal has always been to get all four original members to take ownership and be proud of what we’re doing, but it’s so difficult with all four of us living in different cities. It’s not impossible. It’s weird to be talking to you about it, but I’d definitely like to do that.”

He also reflected on the legacy of ‘Hot Fuss’ 20 years on, telling us: “[The Killers] were always little different from the other Vegas bands back then because I noticed that there was this competition and rivalry between local bands. I wasn’t thinking about them – I was thinking about The White Stripes , The Strokes , and Oasis . I didn’t allow myself to get to U2 just yet, but I asked myself, ‘What is it that these bands are doing and why are they not still in their hometown?’ That’s what set us apart quite early on.

“We were different, and we were ambitious. Ambition can be seen as an ugly thing to some people but it has served us well. We were able to persevere and it’s kind of unbelievable.”

The Killers will tour our shores as part of the Imploding The Mirage Tour 2022 , playing headline shows and festivals across the globe in celebration of their sixth studio album, the critically-acclaimed Top 5 NZ Chart album Imploding The Mirage (out now through Island Records/Universal Music Australia) and it’s lead single ‘Caution’ .

Earlier this year while touring was still on hold due to the ongoing pandemic, The Killers released their seventh studio album, the quieter, character-study-driven album, Pressure Machine . The resulting record is an aural document of growing up – and living – in the American Southwest, told from a myriad of perspectives. Pressure Machine includes ‘Quiet Town’ and ‘Runaway Horses (featuring Phoebe Bridges)’.

The Killers first burst onto the scene in 2004 with debut album Hot Fuss .

The Killers are exceptionally well-loved down under with all ten shows on the band’s 2018 tour completely selling out. Live music is back, secure tickets now for these not to be missed shows.

5 Ways ‘Hot Fuss’ Propelled The Killers To Rock Royalty

During the alternative-guitar-band renaissance of the early 2000s, the Killers slugged out a debut album that’ll stick with us forever. Here are five reasons ‘Hot Fuss’ catapulted the Vegas favorites to the top.

They came out of their cage, and now they're doing just fine.

In an era of stiff competition, from the White Stripes to the Strokes , the Killers could have gotten lost in the shuffle. But with 2004's Hot Fuss , the Brandon Flowers-led, Vegas-based rock band essentially emerged fully formed, with a debonaire mystique, a raided new wave record collection (think the Cure and Duran Duran ), and a knack for sky-high hooks. They didn't just nail the songs, and charisma, on the first go — they created one of the most timeless albums of their generation.

In the 20 years since, chances are "Mr. Brightside" has gotten maddeningly stuck in your head at least once. But that's just the tip of the iceberg: Hot Fuss is teeming with cryptic one-liners, sticky melodies and a specifically aughts sort of emotional abandon.

Today, the Killers are one of the biggest rock bands of the 21st century, with five GRAMMY nominations and more than 28 million records sold worldwide. Here are five aspects of Hot Fuss that helped them break into the stratosphere.

It's The Result Of A Completely Scrapped First Attempt

Sometimes, the first thought isn't the best thought. The Killers were full steam ahead on their debut album when Flowers hit a major snag: a little album called This Is It by the Strokes came out.

"When we put it on in the car, that record just sounded so perfect," Flowers admitted to NME in 2012. "I got so depressed after that, we threw away everything, and the only song that made the cut and remained was 'Mr. Brightside.'"

How would the Killers' legacy have changed without classics like "Somebody Told Me " and "Jenny Was a Friend of Mine"? We'll never know — but the band (and the world) is likely glad they gave Hot Fuss a second shot.

Brandon Flowers Is A Superb Lyricist

Did you know Hot Fuss has an extended murder narrative? Well, in two songs: "Midnight Show" and "Jenny Was a Friend of Mine." (The third act, "Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf," was relegated to their 2007 B-sides and rarities disc, Sawdust .)

Outside of sprawling concepts, Flowers' sneaky prowess as a lyricist is all over Hot Fuss , from sticky alliteration ("Turning saints into the sea/ Swimming through sick lullabies") to masterful use of negative space.

Exhibit A is "Smile Like You Mean It": "Someone is calling my name/ From the back of the restaurant/ And someone is playing a game/ In the house that I grew up in/ And someone will drive her around/ Down the same streets that I did." By erasing the specifics, and only providing a framework of memory, the picture is ever more elusive and intriguing.

The Album Is Front-Loaded With Five Bangers

Sure, some tracks on Hot Fuss , like "Change Your Mind" and "Believe Me Natalie," are relatively minor.

But with absolute napalm across the first five tracks — "Jenny Was a Friend of Mine," "Mr. Brightside," "Smile Like You Mean It," "Somebody Told Me," "All These Things That I've Done" — it's actually kind of a relief to get a sleeper album track, that reveals its qualities slower.

No matter your take on the rest of Hot Fuss , or their discography, the fact remains undeniable: they came in swinging.

They Kept The Demos Intact For Raw Impact

The Killers and the Boss have crossed paths a time or two — and they made a Springsteenian move when they used demos as the final tracks. It worked, imbuing Hot Fuss with a certain spontaneity and energy.

And because these Hot Fuss tracks were meant to comprise a demo, "We never thought [these songs] would be on a record." drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. later admitted . Talk about a turn of events: what could have been a collection of scratch tracks would help define a generation.

"Mr. Brightside" Took On A Life Of Its Own

"Mr. Brightside" has undeniably become the Killers' signature song — a staple not only at their concerts, but at bars and karaoke joints around the world. And once social media came along, it inspired a cornucopia of memes: even snippets of lyrics, like "Comin' out of my cage" and "It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this?" have become miniature cultural forces.

Aside from Flowers' almost unwaveringly single-note verse melody, the song's odd structure — the second verse is the same as the first — has also been ripe for humor: one favorite meme takes you into the fictional writer's room when that decision was made .

Whether for rock 'n' roll transcendence, or just a nostalgic laugh, revisit Hot Fuss as it turns 20 — and smile like you mean it.

Dove Cameron - Alchemical: Vol. 1

Release date: Dec. 1

Following Dove Cameron's viral, platinum-certified 2022 hit "Boyfriend," expectations were high for the artist's first studio album. The singer and actress will release Alchemical: Vol. 1 at the top of the month.

"I wrote Volume 1 during a period of deep healing and space to process that I had never given myself. I hope you feel yourself in these songs as much as I do. Part 1: tear down. Part 2: rebuild," the singer shared on Instagram , teasing Vol. 2 of the collection (release date yet to be announced).

A follow-up to Cameron’s 2019 debut EP Bloodshot / Waste , Vol. 1 features eight tracks. Aside from "Boyfriend," she has revealed singles "Breakfast," "Lethal Woman," and "Sand," building up a sultry sound and an alluring mystique that prompt her as one to watch.

Dillon Francis - This Mixtape Is Fire TOO

Eight years after This Mixtape Is Fire , Dillon Francis' latest "turned out better than I could have ever imagined," the DJ and producer shared on Instagram about his forthcoming album, This Mixtape Is Fire TOO .

"The whole goal of this album was to make amazing songs with artists I love and respect," he added. The 14-track record features several 2022 singles, such as "Free" with Alesso and Clementine Douglas, "LA On Acid" with Good Times Ahead, "Pretty People" with INJI, "Don't Let Me Let Go" with Illenium and Evan Giia and "buttons!" with Knock2.

Aside from collaborating with some of dance music’s biggest names, Francis seems intent on having fun. His latest single, "I’m My Only Friend" with Arden Jones, demonstrates that by pairing up his characteristic high-octane beats with an amusing music video featuring actor Billy Zane in an impromptu road trip adventure.

ATEEZ - THE WORLD EP.FIN: WILL

K-pop’s favorite pirates ATEEZ are getting ready to release their second Korean full album: THE WORLD EP.FIN: WILL. The record will conclude the trilogy that began with EPs The World EP.1: Movement and The World EP.2: Outlaw .

With a slew of teaser pictures and a mysterious black-and-white trailer , the eight-member boy band continues to further their lore and leave fans eager to decipher their next chapters. In addition, a tracklist and an instrumental preview of the album’s upcoming 12 songs, including title track "Crazy Form," were revealed, promising exciting twists to their thunderous beats.

EP.FIN: WILL also brings a surprise in its unit and solo songs, all with lyrics co-written by the members: Jongho brings his powerful vocals to "Everything," "Youth" is a duet by Mingi and Yunho, "It’s You" is performed by Yeosang, San, and Wooyoung, and "MATZ" is the long-awaited collaboration between the band’s two eldest members, Hongjoong and Seonghwa.

Khruangbin - Live at Sydney Opera House

After a yearlong series of live albums in partnership with other artists ( Toro y Moi , Men I Trust, Nubia Garcya and others), Khruangbin will close out 2023 with the upcoming Live at Sydney Opera House — this time on their own.

The double LP was recorded in November 2022, and compiles their three-night residency at one of Australia’s most prestigious venues. With the announcement, the Texas trio also shared a new version of their 2015 hit, "People Everywhere (Shifting Sands Remix)."

The setlist also includes classics like "So We Won’t Forget," "A Calf Born in Winter" and "Friday Morning," attesting to the band’s expertise in highlighting the best of their career while giving tracks a fresh, unexpected spin.

Alicia Keys - The Diary Of Alicia Keys 20

The end-of-year celebrations will start early for Alicia Keys and her fans. On Dec. 1, the 15-time GRAMMY winner will release a special version of her multiplatinum sophomore album, The Diary of Alicia Keys , in order to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The 2023 LP will feature 24 tracks, including nine bonus songs including the previously unreleased "Golden Child." Keys also uprezzed four music videos from that era on YouTube: "Karma," "You Don’t Know My Name," "If I Ain’t Got You" and the live version of "Diary" with Tony! Toni! Toné! and Jermaine Paul .

To make the milestone even more special, Keys will perform the full album in an intimate, one-night-only concert at New York’s Webster Hall on the day of release. A portion of the earnings will be donated to the nonprofit organization she co-founded in 2003, Keep a Child Alive.

Peter Gabriel - i/o

During every full moon this year, Peter Gabriel unveiled a new track off his upcoming studio album, i/o . It was a clever way to compensate fans for a lengthy wait. i/o is Gabriel’s first LP of new and original content since 2002’s Up , and has been in the works for almost three decades.

"I’m very happy to see all these new songs back together on the good ship i/o and ready for their journey out into the world," the British singer said in a press release. With 12 tracks "of grace, gravity and great beauty," the album tackles themes like the passage of time, grief and injustice, but never gives up on hope. Each track comes in three versions: the Bright-Side Mix by Mark ‘Spike’ Stent, the Dark-Side Mix by Tchad Blake, and the In-Side Mix by Hans-Martin Buff.

Gabriel also spent a good part of 2023 on the i/o Tour across Europe and North America. Attendees were lucky to witness the album played in full and some of the singer’s biggest hits, as well as the unreleased track "What Lies Ahead."

Atmosphere - Talk Talk EP

From "Talk Talk (feat. Bat Flower)," a track off Atmosphere’s May album So Many Other Realities Exist Simultaneously , comes Talk Talk EP . According to a press release, the Minneapolis duo was so captivated by that song’s "vaguely alien and deeply human" sounds that they had to develop it into a ten-track deep dive.

In the album, rapper Slug and DJ/producer Ant "dart across threads of space-time" and become "titans of the electro-rap that was foundational to their youths," citing names like Kraftwerk and Egyptian Lover as inspirations. The press release also mentions that Talk Talk EP is a testament to rap’s connection to electronic music of the ‘70s and ‘80s.

That statement rings true, for instance, in the two singles they have released so far, aside from "Talk Talk": the sparkly "Rotary Telephone," and the haunting album closer, "Traveling Forever."

Pink - Trustfall Tour Deluxe Edition

Following the smashing success of her ninth studio album, February’s Trustfall , and of her back-to-back Summer Carnival stadium tour and Trustfall arena tour this year, pop giant Pink will wrap it all up with the release of Trustfall Tour Deluxe Edition on Dec. 1.

The special record features six live recordings (from Summer Carnival), including "Cover Me in Sunshine" with her daughter Willow Sage Hart, as well as covers of Sade ’s "No Ordinary Love" and Sinead O’Connor ’s "Nothing Compares 2 U," with Brandi Carlile . It also includes July’s protest song "Irrelevant" and two new singles: "Dreaming" with Marshmello and Sting and "All Out of Fight."

As the unstoppable artist that she is, Pink has already announced a slew of 2024 Summer Carnival tour dates for Oceania in February and March, and the U.K. and Europe throughout June and July.

Tate McRae - Think Later

Release date: Dec. 8

"Here’s to 20 years old and figuring who the f[—] i am," celebrated rising sensation Tate McRae wrote on Instagram . Writing her sophomore album, Think Later , was "one of the most stressful, exciting, nerve racking, and fun things I’ve ever gone through. For the first time in my life I lived this year a little less with my head and a little more with my intuition — and I [really] hope [you] guys can feel that through the music," she added.

Produced by Ryan Tedder , the album dives into "the all-too-relatable feelings of falling in love and embracing the raw emotions that you experience as a result of leading with your intuition and heart," according to a press release. It is preceded by singles "Greedy" — of recent TikTok fame — and "Exes."

The Canadian singer has also announced an eponymous tour in support of the new album. McRae will visit Europe and North America from April to August 2024, bringing it to a close in Oceania throughout November.

Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday 2

After several postponements, rap superstar Nicki Minaj is celebrating her birthday by bringing Pink Friday 2 to the world. The much-expected release marks Minaj’s first studio album since 2018’s Queen .

The album is a sequel to her acclaimed debut, 2010’s Pink Friday , and is supported by two singles, "Super Freaky Girl" and "Last Time I Saw You." During an Instagram Live on Oct. 24, as reported by People , Minaj shared that "this entire album will be the biggest gift I have ever given humanity thus far. I can stand by that. I will bet any amount of money that Pink Friday 2 , the album, is going to make people fall in love immediately."

The Trinidadian American icon recently announced a 2024 tour in North America and Europe. Exact dates are yet to be announced, but the commotion was such that Minaj’s fandom, Barbz, crashed her website upon hearing the news.

The Killers - Rebel Diamonds

It’s been almost 20 years since the Killers burst into the rock scene with their 2004 debut Hot Fuss . To honor that achievement, the Las Vegas band will release Rebel Diamonds , a compilation of 20 hits encompassing all their seven LPs, plus new track "Spirit."

In the tracklist, fans will be able to take a trip down memory lane with singles like "Mr. Brightside," "When You Were Young," and "Human," among other classics. "See, it’s been said that what’s remembered, lives," frontman Brandon Flowers said in a trailer for the album . "And we’ve racked up stadiums full of memories the past 20 years, enough to fill lifetimes."

Flowers continued: "It sounds a bit like Bowie. Or is it Brando? Or maybe it's somewhere in between? It always is with us. And to our legion of victims, thank you, thank you, thank you. And do not fear. There is more mining to be done." The Killers released another best of in 2013, Direct Hits .

Neil Young - Before and After

"Songs from my life, recently recorded, create a music montage with no beginnings or endings." That’s how folk legend Neil Young described his upcoming 45th studio album, Before and After , in a press statement.

The record spans a collection of 13 solo acoustic re-recordings among Young’s favorites in his catalog. The statement adds that "each of the songs blend and create one continuous flow, clocking in at a 48-minute pure and intimate listening experience," with Young summarizing it as an experience where "the feeling is captured, not in pieces, but as a whole piece — designed to be listened to that way."

Young also co-produced and co-mixed the record, which includes the previously-unreleased track "If You Got Love," among classics such as 1966’s "Burned," 1970’s "Birds" and 1994’s "A Dream That Can Last." Before and After is the latest in a series of archival releases by Young, arriving just a few months after "lost" album Chrome Dreams .

Car Seat Headrest - Faces From the Masquerade

In March 2022, indie band Car Seat Headrest was playing a three-night residency at New York’s Brooklyn Steel. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they asked the audience to mask up, but also to "accoutre yourself in whatever further costumery you please" for an evening of "music, dancing, and identity loss," according to a press release.

The result of that experience is Faces From the Masquerade , CSH’s upcoming double album that will bring the magic of those nights to the world. "The 2022 Masquerade was a crazy tour that ignited with a particular ferocity once we touched ground on the east coast," said vocalist Will Toledo in a statement. "Our time in New York captures that momentary magic where we’re playing at our peak and the crowd is responding as one giant body."

Faces From the Masquerade features 14 of the band’s best tracks as rearranged, revamped live versions — for example, "Deadlines" went through adjustments "to turn it into the climactic dance monster it always wanted to be," added Toledo. The record has been described as "simultaneously a joyride through the greatest hits and a conversation with the devoted and ever-growing following that has formed around the band, their songs and live communions."

Michael Nau - Accompany

Multihyphenate Michael Nau has been building an extensive indie discography since the mid-’00s, both as the frontman of bands Cotton Jones and Page France and as a soloist. Next month, he will add on to that by releasing his fifth studio album, Accompany .

The album came to be when producer Adrien Olsen (the Killers, Lucy Dacus ) invited Nau to record at his Richmond, Virginia studio. "I didn’t have much of a plan before Adrien reached out, so I wrote some songs specifically for the session," Nau explained in a release. "It had been a while since I’d made music in a room with other people. We just sort of started playing and didn’t really talk about what was happening."

The record's 11 tracks "come together to paint a beautiful picture" with imaginative lyrics that manage to be "introspective, but vague and open-ended. Nau recently announced tour dates across the U.S. from February to April 2024.

Chief Keef - Almighty So 2

Release date: Dec. 15

Rumors about Almighty So 2 , the sequel to Chief Keef’s revered 2013 mixtape of the same name, have been going on since 2018. The Chicago drill pioneer went as far as teasing the cover art on Instagram in 2019 — only to spend years without further updates. In any case, it seems like the wait is finally over: Almighty So 2 is scheduled to drop on Dec. 15.

In the beginning of November, Keef shared two new cover arts for the album on Instagram, under the caption "2 real soon." While there’s no further info, the album will feature 17 tracks, including 2022 singles "Tony Montana Flow" and "Racks Stuffed Inna Couch," according to Apple Music .

Almighty So 2 is Chief Keef’s fifth studio album, arriving after 2021’s 4NEM . Recently, the rapper was featured on the track "All The Parties" off Drake ’s latest album, For All The Dogs . This collaboration increased speculations about a possible Drake feature on Keef’s album as well — the latter commented "Don’t forget them vocals, crody" on Drake’s Instagram back in August.

New Music Friday: Listen To New Releases From Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Blackpink & More

The summer of 2023 may be winding down, but its musical offerings remain white-hot. Check out some new songs and albums that arrived on Aug. 25, from Maluma to Burna Boy.

The faintest hint of fall is in the air, but the summer of 2023's musical deluge continues unabated. Across genres, scenes and styles, the landscape continues to flourish.

We have Miley Cyrus 's first song since Endless Summer Vacation — a vulnerable, proudly " unfinished " offering. On the opposite end of the vibe spectrum, Selena Gomez has thrown caution to the wind with the carefree "Single Soon."

And that's just the beginning — beloved acts from Burna Boy to BLACKPINK are back with fresh material. Before you dive into the weekend, add these songs to your playlist.

Miley Cyrus — "Used To Be Young"

On her first song since Endless Summer Vacation arrived in March, two-time GRAMMY nominee Cyrus avoids tidiness, and pursues honest reflection.

"The time has arrived to release a song that I could perfect forever. Although my work is done, this song will continue to write itself everyday," she said in a statement. "The fact it remains unfinished is a part of its beauty. That is my life at this moment ….. unfinished yet complete."

"Used to Be Young" belongs to the pantheon of "turning 30" jams; therein, Cyrus looks back on her misspent youth, and the attendant heat of the spotlight. "You say I used to be wild/ I say I used to be young," she sings.

In the stark video, she gazes unflinchingly into the lens, without varnish or artifice.

Selena Gomez — "Single Soon"

Where Cyrus' new song bittersweetly gazes backward, Gomez's carbonated new jam "Single Soon" is focused on the promised reverie of tomorrow — sans boyfriend.

"Should I do it on the phone?/ Should I leave a little note/ In the pocket of his coat?" the two-time GRAMMY nominee wonders, sounding positively giddy about her unshackling from Mr. Wrong.

As the song unspools, Gomez gets ready for a wild night out; the song ends with the portentous question, "Well, who's next?" If you're ready to slough off your summer fling, "Single Soon" is for you.

Ariana Grande — Yours Truly: Tenth Anniversary

The two-time GRAMMY winner and 15-time nominee's acclaimed debut album, Yours Truly , arrived on Aug. 30, 2013; thus, it's time to ring in its tin anniversary.

Granted, these aren't "new songs," per se: rather, i n a weeklong celebration , Grande is reintroducing audiences to Yours Truly .

Dive in, and you'll find "Live From London" versions of multiple songs. Plus — perhaps most enticingly — the sprawling re-release contains two new versions of "The Way," her hit collaboration with late ex Mac Miller.

Maluma — Don Juan

Papi Juancho is dead; long live Don Juan. "Fue un placer," Maluma wrote on Instagram last New Year's Eve. (It translates to "It was a pleasure.")

And with that, the Colombian rap-singing heavyweight ushered in a new character. He's now Don Juan — in a reference both to the fictional libertine and his birth name of Juan Luis Londoño Arias.

Now, Don Juan's out with his titular album — which he dubs a "mature" blending of the musics that got him going, like reggaeton, house, salsa, and hip-hop.

Burna Boy & Dave — "Cheat On Me"

Just over a year after his latest album, Love, Damini , Burna Boy is back with I Told Them… The Nigerian star offers another forward-thinking missive with his seventh album.

Featuring the likes of 21 Savage , J. Cole , and Wu-Tang Clan 's GZA and RZA , I Told Them… is one highlight after the next — and "Cheat On Me" is one of them. For the advance single, the GRAMMY-winning Afro-fusion dynamo teamed up with London rapper Dave.

Therein, the pair expound on getting out of their own way. The chorus, powered by a sample from British-Ghanian singer/songwriter Kwabs, sums it all up: "I couldn't see/ I was cheating on, cheating on me."

Blackpink — "The Girls"

BLACKPINK are a bona fide cross-cultural sensation , but they won't stop at the music: they're a game now.

A little over a year after their second studio album, Born Pink , the acclaimed South Korean girl group has released a mobile app, succinctly called "The Game." Therein — and above — players can watch the video for "The Girls," their first post- Born Pink jam.

Don't say Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa didn't warn you: "Stop sign, we're burning it down/ Better watch out, we coming in loud/ Bang, bang, just playing around/ Don't mess with the girls, with the girls, with the girls."

The Killers — "Your Side of Town"

The Killers ' beloved debut album, Hot Fuss , turns 20 next year; as a ramp-up, here's "Your Side of Town," a new slice of electro-pop from the Vegas crew.

The sleek, aerodynamic, Auto-Tuned "Your Side of Town" is their first single since their acclaimed pair of albums, 2020's Imploding the Mirage and 2021's Pressure Machine .

Here, the five-time GRAMMY nominees take a Pet Shop Boys -like tack with the music; lyrically, they're still putting the "heart" in heartland rock.

"I'm hanging on your side of town/ I notice when you're not around," frontman Brandon Flowers sings on the chorus. "Can't keep my cool, I'm burning inside/ A broken heartbeat, barely alive."

But the Killers — like everyone on this list — remain very alive.

Bebe Rexha On 'Better Mistakes,' Working With Travis Barker & Her Dream Collaboration

Bebe Rexha spoke to GRAMMY.com about working with Travis Barker, mental health and the hardest song to put on her new album, 'Better Mistakes'

Bebe Rexha  has never been averse to sharing raw emotion. But with  Better Mistakes , her second album, she dug even deeper.

"I was coming to an acceptance of myself and being like 'This is what I've gone through, this is who I am,'" the singer/songwriter tells GRAMMY.com over Zoom from her home in Los Angeles. What that meant, Rexha says, was dissecting her mental health issues further and admitting her self-sabotaging and jealous tendencies.

But  Better Mistakes  came with some familiarity, too. Rexha, who's found a handful of hits with everyone from  Florida Georgia Line  to  The Chainsmokers , wasn't shy about having a cohort of collaborators on the 13-track record. Everyone from Doja Cat to Travis Barker are featured on Better Mistakes . And as always, Rexha's explosive vocals dominate the album, which oscillates between pop, hip-hop and rock.

To mark the release of  Better Mistakes  on May 7, Rexha spoke to GRAMMY.com about working with Barker, mental health and the hardest song to put on the album.

<style>.embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }</style><div class='embed-container'><iframe src='https://www.youtube.com/embed//OvWDev_zjGA' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

What was the process of making  Better Mistakes  like for you?

It was a good two-and-a-half, three years ago. I was going through the phase of accepting myself and all the things that I was going through, but I'm still a bit unhappy with myself as a person. And I got into the studio with  Justin Tranter , and we just started writing. He makes me feel really safe, and he just told me, "Let's write about real things that you're going through, jealousy, mental health, your body." That's what we did.

You've always been brutally honest in your music. How did you take that to a different place with your new LP?

I mean, I didn't really. I've always talked about my mental health and the struggles that I have with myself. But then I feel like getting to a point where we're talking about self-sabotage and then actually being jealous of other females. I feel like that's another step.

I think there are levels in life and things that you go through, and it was just things that were coming up. I was dealing with not accepting my mental health diagnosis and new things that were coming up in my life, and then that's when we wrote  "Break My Heart Myself."  And I was coming to an acceptance of myself and being like "This is what I've gone through, this is who I am."

I get jealous sometimes. I'm not what a normal, hot girl should look like in terms of size. I have a mental illness; I deal with it constantly. Sometimes I am my own worst enemy, and we were just talking about things that I was actually just dealing with and things that I was just trying to come to accept.

<style>.embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }</style><div class='embed-container'><iframe src='https://www.youtube.com/embed//DG6D_KrdABo' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

What was it like for you when you finally got the proper mental health diagnosis?

When I got my diagnosis about being bipolar, I kind of knew all my life that there was something not right with me. [Doctors] were always kind of like, "Oh, anxiety, depression, anxiety, depression". Like, is there ever going to be an end to this?

And then there were moments of clicking. I would go to an industry party, and it's kind of good to be seen and kiss babies and hug people. However, when I would go to these things I would just feel so stressed and so anxious I couldn't do it. I couldn't even get ready. That's when I was like, "Thank God I have people helping me get ready because I could never do it myself—like, ever."

I have a very hard time leaving the house. And when I finally figured out what my diagnosis was, I kind of was upset and angry because then I felt kind of embarrassed. I was like, "Is there something wrong with me?" Because there's such a stigma behind mental health and mental illness, I was kind of embarrassed and then I was kind of like, "No, I'm not going to be embarrassed or victimize myself."

And that's when we wrote "Break My Heart Myself." People think it's about love, but it's actually not about love. It's a song saying I've already broken my heart so many times by self-sabotaging [and] being in situations where I couldn't control the way that I was feeling, and I don't need anybody else to come into my life — whether it's a hater, a lover or a friend—I broke my heart.

So, it's kind of anthemic and empowering: I don't need anybody to hurt me, I've done it myself.

<style>.embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }</style><div class='embed-container'><iframe src='https://www.youtube.com/embed//gEUmYOD-G54' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

For "Break My Heart Myself," you collaborated with Travis Barker. Was that a way to pay homage to your days in Black Cards with  Pete Wentz ?

Yeah. For me it's like, I was always such a fan of  Blink-182 , but I feel like the true artist in me is  that girl . Sometimes I battle wanting to make songs like that and just being that girl fully. But then, I feel the stress of having hit records, what pop music is and what's selling is constantly a battle within myself.

It's a lot of stress to be successful and to stay on top. So, my favorite song on the album is definitely "Break My Heart Myself," and it just felt like the most  me . I wanted another element, and I thought that he would be perfect for it, so I asked him. Working with Travis has been very eye-opening because he comes to set and will literally play the drum part over and over.

Travis does not complain, is kind and every time he plays the drum and his part, he f**king nails every [time]. He does not miss one kick drum, one snare, one cymbal. He just f**king loves it.

That leads to my next question. Listening to the runs and some of the sounds on the record, did any specific rock albums or artists influenced  Better Mistakes ?

Yeah. I love  The Killers , obviously  Queen . More currently,  Twenty One Pilots . I grew up listening to a lot of  No Doubt . I listened to  Aerosmith ,  Nirvana  and  Led Zeppelin , but I also listened to a lot of  Lauryn Hill . I love  The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill . I'm also  Red Hot Chili Peppers  obsessed. I love having a sheen of some type of rock somewhere. That's what really makes me happy.

You recently addressed being  sexually fluid . What made you want to talk about that now?

Because I've been super-honest more than ever. There's nothing to hold back. I feel [freer] to be myself because I feel like I've come to a certain point where I'm not worried if people don't accept me or not because I'm lucky to have had some success and I feel that I can be myself fully.

I already have my fans who love me, and I know they always got my back. In the beginning, you get kind of scared, you don't want to be judged. But now I'm just 100% myself. This is me with all my imperfections.

<style>.embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }</style><div class='embed-container'><iframe src='https://www.youtube.com/embed//PznMpRASjAg' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

There's obviously a lot of power that comes in owning your mistakes and I feel like that's something that you've always done. Why is it important for you to write songs about that?

We all make mistakes, and when I was younger I was like, "I can't wait to grow up, get my s**t together I'm gonna figure it all out. I'm gonna be peaceful, and everything's gonna make sense." Then when you grow up you're like, "I'm wiser, but I still don't know everything, I don't have the answer to all the things that I wish I had the answer to and I'm still quite f**ked up."

It's so important that we just talk about being compassionate with ourselves more than anything, wherever you are in your life, because we're always making mistakes. We have to just learn how to accept ourselves because we're all human. I'm still making mistakes but I'm making better ones.

While putting together the record, did you face any challenges?

My mom doesn't love  "Mama"  because my mom had me when she was super-young. She was 17, and we kind of grew up together. She was more like a sister, and I think that for her, the hardest thing with this album is she takes things very personally, especially when I talk about my struggles.

She feels like she did something wrong. She doesn't understand that it has nothing to do with her, she did a great job. I was scared to put "Mama" on there because I was really dramatic with that record and saying "I don't belong to heaven but because I sold my soul just like you have."

But what I was trying to say was, "I'm not perfect, and neither are you, Mom." That was a tough one. She hates that song. But it is what it is.

Many of your hits have been collaborations. Who do you dream of collaborating with?

I have so many people that I want to collaborate with. I would love to collaborate with  System of a Down . I love them so much. My favorite thing is to get in the room, but if I could, I would even send a track over and have them mess with it.

Brandon Flowers sings in concert.

The Killers can’t get enough of Queens.

After an electric headlining set at the 2024 Governors Ball Festival, Brandon Flowers and co. are returning to the borough for a one-off concert at Forest Hills Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 14.

This gig comes on the heels of an international summer tour, a Las Vegas residency celebrating the 20th anniversary of their seminal album “Hot Fuss” and a handful of U.S. and Canada shows that includes a stop at Camden, NJ’s Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on Sept. 7.

As of now, tickets are available for all of their 2024 gigs.

Fans can purchase tickets to see The Killers on sites like Vivid Seats ; the official on-sale for the newly announced Sept. 14 Forest Hills gig is Friday, June 14.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

The Killers tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets can be found below.

The Killers festival appeareances

As you may have noticed, the “Mr. Brightside” band has a number of festival gigs lined up this year.

To give you a clearer picture of what to expect, we’ve got everything you need to know about each festival — including venues and fellow headliners — below.

The Killers debut, which was released in 2004, sounds as vital now as it did when it first hit shelves.

Featuring a scandalous subplot — dubbed “KILLERS MURDER TRILOGY,” both “Midnight Show” and “Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine” allegedly tell the story of a jealous lover who may have killed the fictional Jenny — the album made quite a cultural footprint.

“Hot Fuss” came in 33rd on Rolling Stone’s list of “The 100 Greatest Debut Albums of All Time.”

Outside of the concept album’s four major radio-friendly singles, the 12-track record also houses the underrated, jazzy “Believe Me Natalie” and the glitzy, anxiety-inducing “Midnight Show.”

Really, there isn’t a flop in the bunch. “Hot Fuss” is filled to the gills with bangers.

As a refresher, here’s the track list:

01.) “Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine”

02.) “Mr. Brightside”

03.) “Smile Like You Mean It”

04.) “Somebody Told Me”

05.) “All These Things That I’ve Done”

06.) “Andy, You’re A Star”

07.) “On Top”

08.) “Change Your Mind”

09.) “Believe Me Natalie”

10.) “Midnight Show”

11.) “Everything Will be Alright”

12.) “Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll”

You can listen to “Hot Fuss”  here .

Rich Kepler, Kogod/BS ’19, worked his first tour around fall midterms during his senior year at AU. The gig—driving a van up and down the West Coast for artist Mac Ayres—wasn’t glamorous and it paid nothing. Kepler “enjoyed the hell out of it.”

By spring, he was back on the road for another tour through 10 Asian countries, and a week after graduation, he moved to Los Angeles, surfing couches until he landed his first job.

Since August 2020, the one-time DJ has worked with Reynolds Management as the day-to-day manager for the Killers. As gatekeeper between the “Mr. Brightside”   band   and the rest of the world, Kepler manages behind-the-scenes logistics, including guest appearances, press, and collaborations.

“It feels like I’m in the pharmaceutical business for a drug called music,” says Kepler, a graduate of Kogod’s business and entertainment program, named one of the world’s best by  Billboard  in 2023. “We’re providing people with an escape.”

Going to The Killers in Dublin? We were at night one — here's what to expect

Going to The Killers in Dublin? We were at night one — here's what to expect

  • The Killers
  • 3Arena, Dublin

We’re all here for the song tonight. You know what song that is, The Killers know what that song is — the question is, can they keep everyone entertained until they get there?

Wednesday is the opening night of the Las Vegas band’s Rebel Diamonds tour, which comes following the release of a compilation album last year of their greatest hits to date. Unsurprisingly, cuts from their first three albums got the strongest showing on that record, and it is the same tonight.

Opening with ‘Read My Mind’ from Sam’s Town , frontman Brandon Flowers appears on a diamond-shaped stage in a glittering three-piece suit to images of a rolling Las Vegas desert on the screen behind him.

There’s a steady chorus from the fans at the front, but it isn’t until they crack into Hot Fuss’ ‘Somebody Told Me’ the rest of us wake up.

That album celebrates its 20-year anniversary this year, and two decades on, it's clear the impact it continues to have.

The audience tonight is truly cross-generational — there are families with young kids, teenage couples, husbands and wives, groups of friends that span decades. And everyone seems to know the words to ‘Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine’, ‘Mr Brightside,’ ‘Smile Like You Mean It’, ‘Somebody Told Me,’ and ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’, all of which are on the setlist for the first of three sold-out gigs at Dublin's 3Arena.

By way of introduction to the crowd a few songs in, Flowers asks: “How’s everything going tonight? You finding everything you need?”

“We are The Killers and we are in the service industry. Now I believe you people wanted a good time tonight... it just so happens to be our specialty.”

Indeed, this is a band that knows what the audience wants and has no egotistical qualms about giving it to them. On one hand, that’s a great thing, but there is a sense that they’re just going through the motions of playing the hits people want to hear. In a recent interview, drummer Ronnie Vannucci himself compared playing ‘Mr Brightside’ to playing 'Happy Birthday' (though Flowers claimed he never gets bored of it).

But — there are moments when we can truly appreciate what made the Nevada rock band so special in those early years. On ‘A Dustland Fairytale,’ the iconic voice of Flowers is given scope to really shine. And, Dave Keuning, the original lead guitarist, is back on stage tonight. He had been on a touring hiatus from the band since 2017 (the original four-piece haven’t played together since bassist Mark Stoermer left in 2016), and the love for him in the room on Wednesday night was palpable.

Flowers, for his part, provides all the energy on the stage, sweat gleaming on his forehead throughout as he dips behind the drum kit between songs to grab a towel. Never without a grin, he jumps atop speakers, waving arms in the air, trying to pump up the crowd as we run through a 22 song setlist.

When the encore comes, you can feel the itch to get to the moment everyone's been waiting for. 'Human' comes first, and it could close out any stadium show in its own right. But, of course, that honour has to go to 'Mr Brightside'.

We are rewarded for our patience with an extended version, with Flowers throwing the mic to us to sing every word at the top of our lungs.

In that same Guardian interview, where Vannucci compared playing the song to 'Happy Birthday', Flowers said: "I really don’t get bored of it. I’m able to feed off of the excitement of somebody who’s there, hearing it for the first time. I still get a thrill." Seeing the grin on his face, he's either telling the truth or a great showman. I suspect it's both.

The Killers announce Australian tour for 2022

the killers australian tour

  • X (formerly Twitter)

They'll be back to play seven massive shows at the end of the year

Las Vegas band The Killers released their sixth album Imploding The Mirage last year, another bright and bold collection of songs that showed the arena-indie-rockers at their confident, swaggering best.

The band had planned to be in Australia towards the end of last year, but the block on international travel meant they were no chance of fulfilling those dates.

Since that tour was put on ice, the band went ahead and released their seventh album as well, the more stripped back Pressure Machine , which has only made Australian fans all the more eager to see them back on our shores.

Mercifully they've now rescheduled their tour and will play seven massive shows at the end of 2022. They'll be the band's first Australian dates since 2018.

The band are one of the biggest to emerge since the turn of the century, with millions of records sold (over a million in Australia alone, thank you very much) and a sleek approach to indie rock that has inspired countless of ambitious bands who come in their wake.

Earlier this year we voted 'Mr Brightside' as one of the greatest debut singles of all time , but that song is but one of the many incredible contributions to modern music that will live on for decades to come.

The band were one of the headliners for the first ever Splendour XR festival a couple of months ago. Their career-spanning set was one of the weekend's highlights and a potent reminder of just how good this band is as a live proposition.

While back in Australia next year, The Killers will play a mix of indoor and outdoor shows, adding a few regional winery dates alongside the regular big city arenas. No matter where you catch them, their live show will blow you away.

Catch them playing the following shows:

Tuesday 29 November – Brisbane Entertainment Centre Saturday 3 December – Peter Lehmann, Barossa Valley Tuesday 6 December – RAC Arena, Perth Saturday 10 December – Mt Duneed Estate, Geelong Tuesday 13 December – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Saturday 17 December – Hope Estate, Hunter Valley Monday 19 December – Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney

Tickets are on sale from Monday 15 November

Spain and Croatia brace for another battle in their Euro 2024 opener

the killers australian tour

DORTMUND, Germany - Spain and Croatia begin their Euro 2024 campaigns on Saturday with a rematch of last year's nervy UEFA Nations League final as they kick off the action in Group B, which also includes European champions Italy and surprise package Albania.

With memories of a heartbreaking shootout defeat by Spain still fresh in their minds, captain Luka Modric's perennial overachievers seem ready to again challenge the pre-tournament odds in their quest to finally win a major trophy.

After reaching the 2018 World Cup final and making the semi-finals four years later, having fought back to eliminate five-times champions Brazil on penalties at Qatar 2022, the Nations League final loss to Spain was a tough pill to swallow.

It also raised questions of how long the country's 'golden generation' can keep on writing one of the great underdog stories in recent soccer history.

Yet Croatia go into the tournament still relying on a midfield trio of Modric (39), Marcelo Brozovic (31) and Mateo Kovacic (30), who gave a taste of their competitive hunger on Saturday when they handed Portugal a 2-1 defeat in Lisbon.

The result did not reflect the visitors' dominance against Roberto Martinez's side, who were subdued despite being almost at full strength with Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Vitinha and Ruben Dias in the starting 11.

The win gave Zlatko Dalic's side a boost for their Euro 2024 debut against old rivals Spain - one of the few elite teams giant-killers Croatia have regularly failed to slain.

BLAME SPAIN

Spain are partly to blame for Croatia's failure to hit the same World Cup highs at the European Championship in which their best result has been reaching the quarter-finals twice.

It will be the fourth straight Euros in which their paths cross, with Jesus Navas' late goal in the 2012 group stage giving Spain a 1-0 victory and a place in the quarters, while they also won 5-3 after extra time in the last 16 at Euro 2020.

Croatia did, however, beat Spain 2-1 in the group stage at Euro 2016 to top the group ahead of them.

"We played them many times and we know what kind of football Spain like to play, they like possession and lulling the opposition to sleep," Croatia striker Ante Budimir told a press conference on Wednesday.

"They can be very quick and vertical at any time. As a team, they are nice to watch and easy to enjoy. (Midfielder) Rodri is very important for them. They have a lot of young players who can make a difference. A very talented and dangerous team..."

Since taking over the Spain job from Luis Enrique after the 2022 World Cup debacle, when they were knocked out in the last 16 on penalties by surprise package Morocco, manager Luis de la Fuente has been blending the country's young and ascending talent with experienced players very successfully.

Veteran defenders Dani Carvajal and Nacho, with Rodri in the middle and captain Alvaro Morata up front, provide the foundation and balance to allow Spain's skilled youngsters Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams and Pedri to create their magic.

Will that be enough to keep their winning run alive against gritty Croatia?

"We didn't come to Germany on vacation, on a tour trip, we are here to win and we'll do our best to do that," 16-year-old winger Yamal told reporters on Wednesday. "Saturday's game against Croatia is probably the most important of my career.

"They are a very strong team, very difficult to beat because they grow in these competitions. They have a lot of experience and it's clear to us that it's going to be one of the most difficult matches we will face." REUTERS
