The Weeknd 2014

The Weeknd has announced The Madness fall tour, kicking off Nov. 3 in Toronto. Bringing along Travi$ Scott , Banks  and Halsey , the seven-week rendezvous wrangles a star-studded, diverse cast of artists. While Travi$ Scott fits the hip-hop bill, Banks and Halsey occupy different sides of the pop spectrum and let The Weeknd take center stage. And let’s be honest, this indie alternative rock star has earned it.

What It’s Like Seeing The Weeknd for the First Time Live

  • Copied to Clipboard

the weeknd madness fall tour

If you follow Ticketmaster at Twitter , you may have noticed that we’ve been asking fans to tell us what their #MyWeekendWish would be if they could attend ANY event.

Self proclaimed “Full-time Fangirl Professional” @reneekennet responded to one of our Tweets, and told us her ultimate wish was to see The Weeknd who has been heating things up across the country with The Madness Fall Tour featuring Travis $cott . We couldn’t help but oblige, and we sent @reneekennet to go see The Weeknd — it was her first time seeing the breakout pop sensation live — here is her story*.

#MyWeekendWish came true thanks to @Ticketmaster !!! #TheMadnessFallTour @theweeknd ❤️🎤🎟❌⭕️ pic.twitter.com/zdxV7QfBX2 — alex (@curlyyonce) December 7, 2015

Ticketmaster: When and where did you see The Weeknd?

@reneekennet: I had the pleasure of seeing The Weeknd in San Jose, California on Sunday December 6th (2015).

TM: Was it your first time seeing him? If not, how many times have you seen The Weeknd before?

@reneekennet: This event was the first time I was able to see him perform live.

TM: What’s your favorite song that was performed live by The Weeknd and why?

@reneekennet: Well my favorite song on his most recent album is, “Tell Your Friends” but surprisingly enough it wasn’t my favorite during the show. It was awesome to see live, but seeing The Weeknd perform “The Hills” pretty much topped that. The amount of effects used, and the pyrotechnics made the song and performance amazing. Another song that he surprised a lot of people with was “Crew Love”. I don’t think that anyone was anticipating him to perform it since the song was not on his album (it’s on Drake’s Take Care album from 2011), but everyone went nuts and it was very enjoyable to listen and watch him perform to it.

TM: What was the overall concert like? How did it begin (Lights, crowd, first song, backdrop, etc.)? Did he do an encore?

@reneekennet: Overall, the concert was great. His set list was better than expected! I think it has a lot to do with the fact that he found the perfect mix of his older music and his more recent records. What I also enjoyed was having a big screen to watch from another angle made it better so that I was able to see a different point of view of the show. But for a good chunk of the show he was performing behind this screen, which was cool at first but after while it kind of killed the vibes. I thought it took away the experience that I wanted from him; to connect to him. Visual effects are nice, but sometimes having a simple set for a few songs can do the trick as well. He started off his set with the first song from his newest album titled, “Real Life.” It was totally awesome because the entire set seemed to follow the track-listing of the album. And to top it off, he used a ton of pyrotechnics, which made it insane to watch. He did an encore of “Wicked Games” after which surprised a lot of people when they thought the show was over although I was already anticipating him to perform it. The mellow effects and mood he set after his crazy performance of “The Hills”, made the whole show come together to a great ending.

TM: Tell us what it means to you to be a fan.

@reneekennet: I think it’s just important to have a higher appreciation for the art this person is making as well as being able to support and relate to it. I also think it means you believe in something bigger than yourself essentially. Music is such a vital part of people’s lives, it’s truly life changing for some. And with all the technology we have now it makes it easier to connect with other people who feel the exact same way about an artist and their work. It gives you a sense of community or for some people like myself: family.

Ticketmaster: How do you stay connected with your favorite artists?

@reneekennet: Twitter! I think most artists use Twitter on a daily basis (except Beyoncé), which is amazing because Twitter is such a vital part in the artist to fan relationship these days. Fans have never been able to connect with their favorite artists this way ever before. So I take my part very seriously. I have the Tweet notifications turned on for all of my favorite artists!

TM: Tell us your #FirstLastNext concert.

@reneekennet: First: Destiny’s Child Farewell Tour, “Destiny Fulfilled… and Lovin’ It” in 2005. Last: The Weeknd, “Fall Madness” Tour in 2015 Next: Justin Bieber, “Purpose World Tour” in 2016!

TM: What are your top 3 favorite things to do?

@reneekennet: Besides going to concerts……? In no particular order a. Karaoke to Pop & R&B classics b. Annoy my dog c. Crocheting or knitting blankets & beanies #GrandmaLife

TM: What do you do for a living?

@reneekennet: I work with kids as a recreation/day camp leader!

TM: Anything else you’d like to share about the experience?

@reneekennet: I am so glad I was able to watch Travi$ Scott, Halsey, and The Weeknd after thinking I wouldn’t be able to due to the fact that they sold out instantly. It was a great experience and I enjoyed every minute of it. I was a bit shocked to see small children (elementary school age) there as I realized he was performing the explicit versions of his songs and especially the fact that his music is not generally for a younger audience. But other than that I had the greatest time!

Shout out to my homies over at @ticketmaster for granting #myweekendwish to see Abel tonight ?❌⭕️? A photo posted by @reneekennet on Dec 6, 2015 at 11:51pm PST

So there you have it. Sounds like @reneekennet had an awesome time at The Weeknd concert. Have you seen The Weeknd this year? Tell us about your experience in the comments below.

*This fan review was created by @reneekennet who was given a ticket by Ticketmaster to attend the event. We asked @reneekennet to share her story about the experience and she agreed. The Weeknd Announces ‘The Madness Fall Tour’

The Weeknd has announced the official tour for his upcoming sophomore release, Beauty Behind the Madness . The trek will take the crooner through Chicago, Boston, New York City, Los Angeles and Atlanta before wrapping up on Dec. 19 in Miami. Check out the full concert listing below.

He’ll be accompanied by rapper Travi$ Scott and upcoming singers Banks and Halsey.

While speaking to Rolling Stone, The Weeknd mentioned the transition fans can expect to hear between his second LP and his debut. “[ Kiss Land ] was the state of mind I was in—introverted, like David Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch . You didn’t know if you were hearing a chorus or a verse. It was just my thoughts,” he said.

After spending more time in L.A. and incorporating new input from his label, he has now adjusted his intent. “At one point, I didn’t care. Now I want as many as people to hear my music as possible,” he confessed.

LOS ANGELES , Aug. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Grammy Award®-nominated, multi-platinum selling artist The Weeknd today announced The Madness Fall Tour . Set to kick off on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario , the Live Nation-produced tour will support the genre-spanning artist’s upcoming album, Beauty Behind The Madness , due out Friday, Aug. 28 on XO/Republic Records. The North American arena tour spans 22 cities across the U.S. and Canada including New York City , Los Angeles , Chicago , Montreal , Atlanta , Miami and more. Tickets go on sale the same day as his album’s release on Friday, Aug. 28 at www.livenation.com . A Citi® cardmember pre-sale begins Monday, Aug. 24 at 10:00 a.m. through Citi’s Private Pass® Program. For complete pre-sale details, visit www.citiprivatepass.com .

The Weeknd’s path to Beauty Behind The Madness has defied all conventions. He avoided revealing his face until over a year after he released his very first song online. The story itself is now legendary. In 2011, he released an untouchable series of three critically revered free mixtapes — House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence — and the internet exploded with praise and a whole lot of theories about him as he personally remained silent. Soon though, his reach and appeal exponentially expanded. He teamed up with Ariana Grande for the platinum-selling hit “Love Me Harder.” He then had the mainstream completely in his grip with the release of “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)” in early 2015. The first release from the chart-dominating, platinum Fifty Shades of Grey Original Motion Picture soundtrack became a triple-platinum smash that enjoyed 27 weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100. “Can’t Feel My Face” formally ushered in Beauty Behind The Madness . The song quickly shot to #1 on iTunes worldwide and within weeks, it reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Weeknd has also become a touring force. The 2014 King Of The Fall Tour sold out all dates and since then, The Weeknd’s festival appearances, including Coachella , Lollapalooza and HARD Summer, have drawn massive crowds.

Travis Kelce recalls the moment he started to ‘really fall’ for Taylor Swift

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end admired Swift for being “very self-aware” during an appearance on the Monday episode of the  “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast .

“I think that’s why I really started to really fall for her, was how genuine she is around just like friends, family,” he explained.

“It can get crazy for somebody with that much attention, and she just keeps it so chill and so cool,” he added.

Kelce recalled the first game Swift attended last NFL season on Sept. 24.

“I was like, ‘OK, so I could probably set you up with everything,’ and she just walked right through the front door. There’s no going down talking to security,” Kelce said. “She’s just like, ‘I just want to be around the family and friends and experience this with everybody.’”

He added the singer got major points with him for that.

“I was like damn, she’s just f------ in the madness, man. She wants to be a part of it. She wants to support me and do things like that. ... Man, she really won me over with that,” he continued.

Kelce added that the pair tried to keep their relationship private.

“Nobody knew what was going on, really all over the place,” he said. “We kind of kept it between us as much as we could, but once she came to a game, obviously, it was all poppin’ from there.”

The pair have had a whirlwind romance with big life moments they’ve shared together, including a Super Bowl win for Kelce in February and multiple successful international shows on Swift’s “Eras Tour.”

Kelce described trying to keep their relationship between them, but also wanting to be proud of his girlfriend.

“You want to keep things private, but at the same time, I’m not here to hide anything,” he said. “That’s my girl.”

“That’s my lady,” he added. “It’s like, I’m proud of that. I’m not sitting here trying to juggle like, ‘How can I keep this under wraps?’ You just don’t want to let everybody into your personal life and be able to comment on it, knowing that everything she does is getting a headline,” he said.

Kelce most recently joined Swift onstage for his own “Eras Tour” debut in London on Sunday, when he sported a black-and-white suit and top hat and carried her during his surprise appearance.

“Dude, the concerts are electric,” Kelce said of Swift’s shows. “They’re electric, and she just switched it up. She just came out with  the new album , so she kind of  incorporated that into the new show .”

“She’s having fun up there —  I can enjoy seeing her in her element , killing it onstage, and I love the show, man,” he added. “She’s got bangers.”

Kelce then gave his ranking of his top three favorite songs. The NFL star said he first started listening to Swift’s music when  her album “1989”  came out in 2014.

“I knew who she was before that. We were the same age, so through high school and everything, I knew who Taylor was as she was getting her career started,” he said. “But I think ‘1989’ was where it really started.”

Kelce then declared  “Blank Space” as his top pick  because it was “the first one.”

“I’ll go No. 2 — ‘Cruel Summer.’ ‘Cruel Summer’ is one of the ones she opens with at her show,” he said. “When she comes out and it’s just f------ electric in the stadium, and then she goes into an absolute banger like that. I was fired up when that happened at the first show I was ever at.”

Kelce’s third pick was  “So High School.”

“I think ‘So High School,’ it’s got a little bit of a sentimental meaning,” he said, before quoting some of  the lyrics that are rumored to be about him . “You know what I’m saying? ‘You know how to ball/ I know Aristotle,’ man.”

J. Cole’s The Fall Off Album – Everything We Know

J. Cole 's  The Fall Off  has been coming for a while now. When Jermaine released his album,  KOD ,  back in 2018, the final song was called “1985 (Intro to ‘The Fall Off’).”  It didn’t take fans long to begin speculating that The Fall Off  is the name of his next album, and six years later the project might actually arrive.

During a listening event for KOD  back in 2018, the Dreamville founder mentioned “1985” is “the intro to some other sh*t,” but declined to expand. A week after the album was released, the rapper engaged with fans on X and revealed The Fall Off was really a thing when asked by someone what he was doing musically previous to putting together  KOD .

“Was working on the fall off,” he replied  on X. “And helping kiLL edward with his album,” he added, referring to his rap-alter ego.

When pressed for further details about  The Fall Off , Cole simply responded , “Workin on it.”

From there, the project seemed to be put on the back burner while Cole toured the country for the second half of 2018 and focused on his label compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III for the first half of 2019. Cole then breathed new life into the album when he teased its release for 2020 during the 2019 Day N Vegas Festival. The album never arrived, but his sixth studio album The Off-Season did in 2021. He still continued to rap about The Fall Off on songs like "m y.l i f e." From there, Cole went on an impeccable feature run in 2023, while also continuing to tease the project during his massive It's All a Blur - Big as the What? Tour with Drake. Cole then capped off the hype by surprise dropping a new mixtape called  Might Delete Later in 2024. Still, the album everyone is yearning for has still not arrived.

As fans continue to patiently await  The Fall Off , here's everything to know about J. Cole's upcoming LP.

Working on The Fall Off Since 2016

During an interview with Angie Martinez that dropped in May of 2018, Cole revealed he’d been working on The Fall Off for nearly two years.

"[ The Fall Off ] probably won’t come for another year," he said, around the video's 1:24:35 mark. "I been working on it for like a year-and-a-half."

“False Prophets” and “Everybody Dies” Were Meant to Be On It

During the same interview, Cole also admitted some of the songs he has released prior to the album dropping were meant to be on The Fall Off .

"'False Prophets' was supposed to be on The Fall Off . 'Everybody Dies' and 'False Prophets' that I put out before 4 Your Eyez Only were songs from The Fall Off ."

Instead of adding the songs to 4 Your Eyez Only , Cole let the tracks live on as loose singles. They may possibly appear on The Fall Off .

There May Be an Actual Guest Appearance

“Platinum with no features.” What was first worn like a badge of honor for the once-reclusive rapper has seemingly become played out for Cole, which means a guest appearance on the new album might be probable.

"I was loving it," he said of the slogan in an interview with GQ in March of 2019. "I was like, Word up. This is funny as hell. But the second or third time, I was like, Alright, it's almost embarrassing now. Like, Alright, man, y'all gonna make me put a feature on the album just so this shit can stop."

The highly collaborative Revenge of the Dreamers III compilation helped break Cole out of his shell. While there are no guarantees, things seem more promising than ever.

"I don't have any [features] right now that I really want to boast about," he added. "Not saying it's impossible. It's just about getting out of my comfort zone.”

Album Was to Drop in 2020

During his set at the 2019 Day N Night Festival, Cole all but confirmed we'd be getting the album in 2020. He said this in a hilarious political ad spoof that requests support for the North Carolina MC.

“It seems like sh*t is all f**ked up. The country needs a hero to turn to in these turbulent times. Jermaine Cole is that hero," a narrator says over photos and video of the North Carolina rapper along with corresponding visuals. “A man whose humility knows no bounds. A man whose pen is so potent, each word of his verses reportedly cost $2,000. We need someone with big ideas and bold solutions. An expert in diplomacy. A candidate that can heal the inter-generational war."

The voice-over concluded, "Make your voice heard. Vote The Fall Off for 2020."

J. Cole Returns With The Off-Season

While Cole did not release  The Fall Off  in 2020 as teased, J. Cole instead dropped  The Off Season  on May 14, 2021. He had announced the project just 10 days prior, unveiling its cover art and releasing its lead single "Interlude."

Cole's sixth studio album received positive reviews from critics and topped the Billboard 200, selling 282,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, earning Cole his sixth consecutive No. 1 album.

J. Cole Clears His Instagram Account

After dropping off his label project  D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape  in September of 2021, the chatter surrounding The Fall Off  didn't pick up steam again until 2023. Cole cleared his IG page in February of 2023, and his longtime manager, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, fueled the rumors by tweeting that Cole's  The Fall Off  would be an album he needed to see performed in full on tour.

J. Cole Says He's Almost Done With The Fall Off

Fast-forward to February of 2024, Cole embarked on his juggernaut It's All a Blur - Big As The What? Tour alongside Drake. At the tour's first stop in Columbus, Ohio, Cole confirmed he was almost done recording the album.

"Right now, I’m at the tail end of working on this album I’ve been working on for a long time,” Cole said. “It’s called  The Fall Off.”

Daylyt Hypes Up The Fall Off

During an Instagram Live session in April of 2024, the TDE affiliate claimed he'd already heard Cole’s next project, and said the Dreamville leader is going "nuclear."

“Cole is going out with a nuclear missile, I’m telling y’all that,” Daylyt said. “It’s his last go-around and he literally was like, ‘I don’t give a f**k about radio; I just wanna show the world my pen before I die.’ I heard it, all of it. It is the most amazingest rapping I have seen and heard thus far...I feel like that’s what Hip Hop needs right now. I think Hip Hop needs to just be like, ‘Man, let’s take it back to the pure art form of this sh*t.’ Because this sh*t we doing right now, it ain’t what we got in it for."

The Alchemist Teases Production on The Fall Off

In August of 2024, The Alchemist replied with a zipped-lip emoji  on X when an eager fan asked if he had any production credits on  The Fall Off.  While he didn't confirm it, he didn't deny it either.

Trae Tha Truth Says The Fall Off Will "Shock" People

In an interview with The Breakfast Club in September of 2024, Trae Tha Truth said The Fall Off was in fact on the way, and that it would surprise a lot of his fans.

"Don't get it f**ked up, his album coming," Trae said. "And when the album coming, it's probably gonna shock a lot of people. Remember what I tell you all the time: a lot of people form opinions on a lot of things and they don’t fully know the situation. He'll be aight. Before it's too late, you never know what bro what may do."
