Clad in white marble, the beautiful and absolutely mammoth Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is Abu Dhabi's landmark building and by far the most popular sightseeing attraction in the city.

The mosque fuses Mameluke, Ottoman, and Fatimid design elements to create a harmonious and thoroughly modern mosque that celebrates Islamic architecture.

Artisans used glasswork, mosaic tiling, and intricate carvings to spectacular effect on both the interior and exterior.

It was opened in 2007 after nearly 20 years of construction. Able to hold 40,000 worshippers, it is the biggest mosque in the United Arab Emirates, and like the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Fujairah (the UAE's second biggest mosque), it is dedicated to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan.

The Middle East's most spectacular museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi traces the entire history of humanity's artistic achievements, from the Neolithic right up to the current day.

The wealth and diversity of art on display, from ancient Egyptian statuary to famous paintings by Picasso, is mind-boggling, while the museum's contemporary architecture, with its galleries gathered under a vast silver dome, is a reason to visit in itself.

The Louvre is the first of three planned major museums to open on Saadiyat Island, which is set to become the cultural heartbeat of Abu Dhabi in the coming years.

To see a different side of Abu Dhabi's steel and glass exterior, head into the mangrove forests that still ring the islands along the shore surrounding the city.

Saadiyat Island is one of Abu Dhabi's top sun-seeker destinations.

Saadiyat Beach is a long strip of white sand on the island's western shore, with a small admission fee for beachgoers. It has excellent facilities, including on-duty lifeguards, a café for refreshments, and plenty of sun loungers and shades.

For active sun-seekers, you can rent kayaks and windsurfing equipment on the beach.

The beach is backed by a rim of protected dunes where hawksbill turtles nest. Access to the beach is on a raised wooden boardwalk so that this area is not disturbed.

If you want a more luxurious day on the sand, head farther north along Saadiyat Island's coast to the private Saadiyat Beach Club. A day pass grants you access to this exclusive beach strip with all its facilities, including a pool, restaurants, and various lounge areas.

Recently opened to the public, Qasr Al Watan (the UAE's Presidential Palace) has quickly become a must-do on Abu Dhabi itineraries for anyone interested in digging deeper into the culture, history, and architecture of the UAE.

The grandiose interiors of the state rooms, including the Great Hall and Presidential Banqueting Hall, with their crystal chandeliers, domes, arches, vast amounts of marble, and intricate mosaic and muqarna (ornamental vaulting) detailing, is enough of a reason to visit.

This branded theme park brings the thrill of Formula One racing to Abu Dhabi and is one of the city's top things to do for adrenaline seekers and families alike.

Small children can test out newly learned driving skills on the Junior GT track, while speed junkies can buckle up and ride the Flying Aces roller coaster, which clocks up speeds of 120 kilometers per hour on a 52-meter loop (the tallest in the world).

For the best views of Abu Dhabi's glittering skyscrapers, you need to head out onto the water. The views of the high-rises are quite spectacular as you sail out from the marina.

Several different operators run tours for all types of budgets. During the day, island hopping tours are very popular and provide a relaxing sightseeing option. They include some beach and snorkeling time on various islands within the bay.

For city views, though, head out on a sunset or evening dinner tour so that you can see the city lights flicker into action as dusk sets over the city.

Yas Island's latest theme park addition, Warner Bros World is dedicated to its cartoon, movie, and comic book heroes and villains, with all rides based around these characters.

With six "lands" all captured under one roof (the entire theme park is inside and air-conditioned) this is one of the best places to visit for families.

There are rides suitable for tots to teens. Bedrock and Cartoon Junction are specifically set up for little ones, while Gotham City and Metropolis are home to some of the big-hitter highlight rides, which combine 4D interactive content with roller coaster-style thrills and spills.

Abu Dhabi's Formula One Grand Prix, which takes place in November, is the city's big annual event and is held at Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island.

If you're not in town for the racing, you can still experience some of that Formula One glamor year-round. There are regular guided tours of the circuit, including visits to the pits, grandstand, and podium for Formula One fans who want to see the track and get a behind-the-scenes look at the circuit.

For speed fans, though, Yas Marina Circuit is where you can book a variety of drive experiences (as either the driver or passenger in various styles of racing car) on the Formula One track itself.

If you just want to walk (or run, or cycle) on the track, every Tuesday and Saturday night the circuit is opened up for anyone who wants to use the track for exercise, and entry is free.

The most popular day trip or overnight trip from Abu Dhabi city is a desert safari to the south of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, either to the beautiful Liwa Oasis, which lays right on the edge of the Empty Quarter, or to the Al Khatim Desert near Al Ain .

The Empty Quarter desert contains the largest sand dunes in the world, and the dunes of both areas are a fantastic playground for anyone who wants to ride dune buggies, try sandboarding, go camel trekking, or simply soak up the vast star-strewn desert sky after dark at a desert camp.

Most trips include stops to visit a camel farm and offer a taste of traditional desert life, as well as heading into the dunes themselves.

The Evening Desert Safari is a great option for visitors with only a short time to spare, offering a six-hour tour into the emirate's desert environs. Visitors are taken on a 4x4 tour of the dunescape before settling down for dinner at a desert camp, with traditional tannura and belly dancing entertainment provided. Once at camp, guests can choose from a host of complimentary activities, such as sand-boarding and camel rides. All transport, with pickup and drop-off from Abu Dhabi hotels, and food is included.

One of the best short breaks from Abu Dhabi city is to the wildlife reserve of Sir Bani Yas Island, first established by Sheikh Zayed.

Indigenous Arabian wildlife such as gazelles and the endangered Arabian Oryx plus introduced animals, including giraffes and leopards, free roam within the vast reserve, which covers the interior of Sir Bani Yas Island.

The luxury resort here offers guests a variety of activities, including 4x4 safaris, walking safaris, and horse-riding tours to view wildlife within the reserve, as well as other activities, including hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking.

The island is accessed by boat (booked through the resort) from Jebel Dhanna, 260 kilometers west of the city.

The Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital is a working veterinary hospital for ill and injured falcons, but it also provides guided tours of its facilities for interested visitors.

The tours allow you to get up close and personal with these birds of prey in the wards, while an on-site museum explains the history of falconry.

Guided tours of the hospital (which must be pre-booked) are held twice daily Monday to Thursday and once daily Friday and Sunday and are one of the few opportunities a visitor has in Abu Dhabi to connect with traditional Emirati heritage.

If you're up for the challenge, you may also have the chance to hold one of the birds, or even to feed one, depending on the activities the vets are performing at the time of your visit.

If the heat is grinding you down, head to Yas Island to cool off at the water park. Yas Waterworld is a mammoth theme park, spanning 37 acres with 40 rides, including multiple waterslides and an inner-tube river ride.

For serious adrenaline seekers, there's also the world's first hydromagnetic tornado water rafting ride; the world's largest surfable sheet wave; and the Jebel Drop, a free-fall speed waterslide.

For families with smaller children, there are also dedicated areas for gentler play.

Facilities are excellent, with plenty of restaurants, cafés, and shops to make it easy to spend a whole day of water park action here.

Abu Dhabi's answer to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai is this observation deck. It offers skyline views from the highest point in the city, on the 74th floor of the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers hotel (at 300 meters above sea level).

There is an entry fee for non-guests of the hotel, but the ticket price can be redeemed for food and drink from the observation deck's restaurant which serves snacks and light bites; soft drinks; and a popular high-tea experience.

Having high tea up here is a leisurely way to take in the views, which swoop across the coast and the city with the arid desert plains beyond.

The recently restored Al-Hosn Fort, also known as the Old Fort or the White Fort, is the oldest building in Abu Dhabi and one of its major historical points of interest.

The palace was built in 1793 as the residence of the ruling family and the seat of government.

The interior of the Al Hosn Fort has been modernized and is now used as a museum that traces the history and culture of Abu Dhabi, with oral histories and plenty of historical photographs on show.

The courtyard and the magnificent tile work over the main northern gate are notable features.

Abu Dhabi's Heritage Village is an authentic replica of a typical Bedouin village that gives visitors an idea of Emirati life before the oil boom.

It's located in a pretty beach area of the city, which is a pleasant place to wander after a visit.

There are exhibits featuring traditional day-to-day objects, workshops where you can watch craftspeople demonstrate Emirati metalwork and weaving skills, and displays introducing visitors to local agriculture and the pearl diving trade-the main economies here before oil was discovered.

The heritage village is a bit rundown these days, but it remains one of the few places in the city where traditional Emirati life can be explored.

For mall shopping, Yas Mall on Yas Island is the major destination, with 370 shops.

For crafts, the World Trade Center Souk in downtown Abu Dhabi is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional bazaar, designed by architect Norman Foster. The shops here sell good gift items, ranging from incense and spices to inlaid woodwork and textiles.

To pick up a piece of classic Arab-style gold jewelry, head to the Gold Souq inside Madinat Zayed Shopping Center, where you'll find dozens of gold vendors.

Abu Dhabi city is vast, and hotels are spread out across the area. For first time visitors, the Downtown area, near the Corniche, is a good base and has a wide variety of hotels. If you're after a resort-style stay, check out Saadiyat Island and the area near the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, along the shores that separate Abu Dhabi Island from the mainland.

Constructed between 1996 and 2007 at the request of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and first president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is by far the most popular of Abu Dhabi's sights, and it's easy to see why. One of the largest mosques in the world, this house of worship features 82 domes, more than 1,000 columns and a white and gold facade. What's more, this is one of only two mosques in the UAE open to non-Muslim tourists. That means that visitors from all around the globe can walk across the world's largest hand-woven rug, gaze up at one of the world's largest chandeliers and admire the fusion of Fatimid, Mamluk and Ottoman architectural styles, representing three different Islamic dynasties.

Although it's not Abu Dhabi's oldest attraction, those who have visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque say that a stop here is a must for those who want a better understanding of the city's religious identity. The site is one of the world's most significant examples of contemporary Islamic architecture. You are welcome to explore the mosque on your own, but many travelers recommend tagging along on one of the free guided tours; tours take between 45 minutes and an hour and can be reserved in advance, or you can simply show up and wait for the next scheduled English tour. "Our guide was outstanding; no religion, just amazing facts and with his commentary we understood the incredible engineering, art [and] workmanship that make this so very special," according to one TripAdvisor user. Stretching nearly 5 miles along the coast of Dhow Harbour — from the Heritage Park to the northeast to Emirates Palace in the southwest — the Corniche makes up the horizontal part of Abu Dhabi city's "T" shape. This seaside promenade is lined with some of the city's most popular hotels, not to mention a variety of restaurants and shops. According to recent visitors, The Corniche offers extensive views of the Persian Gulf and the city skyline. "If you can, rent a bicycle," one TripAdvisor user advised. "It's […] a bit too long for a walk, but just right for a bicycle ride." You'll find several rental shops where you can pick up a set of wheels: FunRideSports has five stations along the Corniche where you can pick up a bike starting at 30 AED (around $8 USD) per hour.

But for most travelers, the main reason to visit the Corniche is to take advantage of its access to the city's beaches. Boasting volleyball nets, free concerts, ice cream shops and calm waters, Corniche Beach (located on the southwestern section of the promenade with the main entrance near the Hilton hotel) offers a family-friendly atmosphere, though you'll need to pay 10 AED (about $3 USD) to access the sands. Meanwhile, the city recently opened a public beach closer to the northern end of the Corniche: Known as the Western Extension, this mile of shoreline is free to access and features both swimming and water sports areas.

Like the Burj Al Arab in Dubai , Emirates Palace sets the standard for luxury lodging in Abu Dhabi. But you don't have to be a guest to experience what all the fuss is about. This resort — which occupies nearly 250 acres of coastline along the Corniche and stretches more than half a mile from wing to wing — has become one of Abu Dhabi city's most recognizable landmarks. Emirates Palace looks almost like a cross between the Taj Mahal and a fairy tale castle: The structure features more than 100 domes, the insides of which are decorated with gold, crystals and mother of pearl. More than 1,000 chandeliers and rich handmade carpets add to the interior's opulence, while outside the hotel, palm trees, lush gardens and bubbling fountains create an oasis effect.

Non-guests are welcome to enjoy a traditional hammam (Turkish bath) experience or a skin treatment at the Anantara Spa or grab a bite to eat at one of the hotel's nine restaurants. But most visitors were content simply wandering the grounds. One TripAdvisor user described Emirates Palace as "beautiful inside and out," adding, "I would recommend dressing nicely, to not feel out of place. It gives you a view of how 'the other half' lives." Rising more than 4,000 feet out of the desert and straddling the UAE-Oman border about 15 miles south of Al Ain, Jebel Hafeet stands as the tallest mountain in the emirate and the second-tallest mountain in the country. This mountain has played a significant role in Emirati history: Not only have several notable fossil discoveries been made here, but archaeologists have also unearthed more than 500 ancient burial sites in the Jebel Hafeet foothills. Yet most travelers don't plan a trip to this mountain because they're interested in history; rather, Jebel Hafeet offers what many road trip enthusiasts (including Edmunds.com and The Weather Channel) have deemed one of the best driving roads in the world. The road weaves its way through the mountain's limestone up to the summit, where you'll find the Mercure Grand Jebel Hafeet hotel, as well as beautiful views of Al Ain and neighboring Oman. The structure was erected as the headquarters of the Oman Trucial Scouts, a group tasked with the protection of the region's palm groves and the preservation of peace between the different tribes that once occupied the area. Today, visitors are welcome to explore the fort's battlements and watchtowers, which surround an expansive courtyard that often acts as a backdrop for outdoor concerts. Al Jahili also houses a small exhibit dedicated to British explorer Sir Wilfred Thesiger (fondly known in the UAE as "Mubarak Bin London), who is known for his journeys across the Rub Al Khali (Empty Quarter) desert .

Travelers who have spent time at Al Jahili say that the fort provides an interesting peek at the area's history while offering plenty of photo opportunities. Recent visitors are especially impressed with the Thesiger exhibit. According to one TripAdvisor user, "The exhibition of Wilfred Thesiger's photos as he lived amongst the Bedouin prior to oil discovery show a great insight into the history of this country."

The United Arab Emirates are a shopper's paradise: This wealthy country has no shortage of traditional souks (marketplaces) and high-end megamalls, with the Marina Mall being one of Abu Dhabi's most popular shopping venues. Located near Heritage Village on the Breakwater in the southwest corner of Abu Dhabi city, this immense shopping complex houses more than 400 stores, as well as a bowling alley, a movie theater, an ice rink and an amusement center complete with arcade games and rides. When the blazing Arabian heat starts to take its toll, you can find respite at the Al Ain Oasis. Occupying nearly 3,000 acres of central Al Ain, this quiet park is best known for its date palms — nearly 150,000 of them. These towering trees are part of plantations (some of them privately owned) that still help supply Abu Dhabi with the popular regional snack. Meanwhile, you'll have a chance to witness the ancient irrigation tactic known as " falaj ," which is still used to water the mango, orange, banana and fig trees. While you walk around, keep your eyes open for the remains of an old mosque and fortification, and keep your camera primed to capture the stark contrast between the verdant oasis and the dry desert.

If you're not all that interested in getting behind the wheel, you can explore the facility on a tour. One of Abu Dhabi's more obscure attractions is the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital: This functioning animal care unit is devoted to the health of falcons, which have long played an important role in Emirati society. Falconry has been practiced in the UAE for thousands of years: Bedouins used falcons to help them hunt and scavenge for food. Today, falconry is more of a sport than a necessity as hunting is now restricted in Abu Dhabi. But the birds are still revered — domesticated falcons are even granted their own UAE passports. Having opened in 1999, the ADFH cares for more than 8,500 falcons each year.

If you're interested in learning more about falconry, the hospital offers two-hour guided tours of its facility. The tour stops at several points of interest, including the falconry museum, the hospital's exam rooms and the aviary, where the birds are free to fly around at their leisure. "Not only is the tour informational, it was exciting," one TripAdvisor user recalled. "We got to watch a minor surgery, grooming, and much more." Another highlight of the tour is the opportunity to balance a falcon on your arm — souvenir photos are included in the cost of the tour.

1.Visit the Fossil Dunes

The Fossil Dunes are an experience and one of the best free things to do in Abu Dhabi. They are located approximately 70km south of Abu Dhabi beyond Musaffah and Mohammed Bin Zayed City along Al Ain Truck Road (E30).

These awe-inspiring natural structures are breathtaking and are a magical mix of nature’s natural elements.

Abu Dhabi’s Fossil Dunes are a series of unique sculptures which are made up of encrusted sand deposits moulded by the wind over time.

The formations change over the course of their lives as they come into contact with calcium carbonate permeating through them until it hardens forming different abstract shapes every single day.

Access is by 4WD which is recommended for making it possible to park nearby. However, be aware visitors are not allowed to climb on them and should leave the area as they found it.

There are many paths guiding visitors through the fascinating fossils.

2. Long Salt Lake

For access to some of the most stunning scenery Abu Dhabi has to offer, consider taking a trip out into the Al Wathba region.

There are vast stretches for off-roading so four-wheel drive vehicles are again necessary here. Make sure to have all your necessities such as water, petrol etc before heading on your Al Wathba adventure!

There are actually two ‘lakes’, one on either side of the access road that leads you to this spot. As the lakes are revealed, the big emerald pools encapsulated with snow-white salt crust banks give them an otherworldly feel.

The surroundings quickly feel like something straight out of Scandinavia or perhaps Mars.

How does the Salt Lake exist?

The high salt content of the ground underneath, mixing with the hot climate and water deposits, results in the salt flats or ‘sabkha’. 

The mystery, however, lies in the large dense salt pad features often seen being used as stepping stones throughout the channel.

It takes a significant period of time for these sorts of structures to develop through erosion and depositing, much longer in fact than is possible in the time these man-made lakes were created.

3. Explore Al Wathba Wetland Reserve

Once a coastal salt flat, Al Wathba wetland reserve has flourished into a mix of natural and man-made lakes that enable many of Abu Dhabi’s species to thrive.

The reserve was the first place in the region to be protected by law.

The reserve houses more than 250 birds, 37 plant species and a wide range of sea life. 

What makes this one of the best places to visit in Abu Dhabi for free though, is the 4,000 flamingos that can be seen in the reserve during autumn and spring. 

Enjoy a stroll along the self-guided walking trails, admire the fauna and flora and experience some bird-watching.

4. Al Ain Oasis

This oasis covers 1 million square meters (10 thousand acres), making up 90 minutes drive from Abu Dhabi City Center which makes the nation’s capital easily accessible without having to cross any borders or passport control before getting around town.

5. See Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the most popular free places to visit in Abu Dhabi. It is one of the world’s largest mosques and a must-see in Abu Dhabi.

It is worth taking one of the official Abu Dhabi tours to soak up all the information about the mosque.

The Founding Founder of the UAE, also known as “the father” or ‘Abdul’ Aziz bin Sultan Al-Nahyan had this grand mosque built in order to create a cultural haven for everyone; no matter their background.

The magnificent edifice of Qutr al-Marah is a sight to behold. The 1,096 amethyst and jasper embedded columns and 82 white marble domes with reflective pools underneath them make for breathtaking photos !

In fact, a photo doesn’t do justice to just how incredible these structures really are, so be sure to spend a good amount of time here, especially at sunset when the colours are spectacular!

What to wear when visiting Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Visitors are asked to follow a specific dress code as an act of respect. Shoulders and knees must be covered, shoes are to be removed at the entry gate. Women must also wear abayas.

For men, it is likely that they can dress appropriately for the visit. However, women will likely have to purchase traditional clothing to enter the mosque as their bodies and hair must be covered.

There are a couple of options here:

1. Wear trousers and long sleeves and purchase a hijab which is worn over the hair, ears and neck.

2. Wear any clothing and purchase an abaya to be worn over clothes with a hood that will cover the female’s hair.

Often, both men and women like to purchase traditional clothing as part of the experience and enhance their photo opportunities.

There are ample places to purchase this clothing around the mosque’s entrance and in many shops in any shopping mall.

These items will differ in price but it is recommended to try a few places and purchase the best deal.

6. Go to Al Hudayriyat Beach

There are plenty of things in Abu Dhabi to do for free. Located on 3,000 hectares southwest of Abu Dhabi, Al Hudayriat Island boasts an extensive list of amenities for visitors.

Hudayriat Island is a haven for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The Island is accessible by a large sweeping bridge which links to the mainland.

Visitors can enjoy the free public be a ch , which includes parasols and loungers and soak up the striking beauty with high-end sporting facilities!

Some of these facilities include tennis courts, football pitches, basketball courts, padel courts, and 400m athletics track, a 5km and 10km cycling track, skate park, BMX park, a high ropes park and the OCR park. 

Facilities at Al Hudayriyat Beach

Many of these facilities are available to use free of charge or at a small cost. The beach , cycling track, and various parks are available to the public for free. 

If you own a bike or are willing to pay a low price to rent one, the 5km and 10km bike track is a must.

The track takes cyclists around the perimeter of the island, with stunning views of the coast as well as passing many of the sports parks , finishing along the beach back near the car park. 

Bike and skateboard enthusiasts should take full advantage of the free thrilling parks designed for the most exciting tricks and flips!

Adventure enthusiasts are highly encouraged to pay the OCR a visit, this obstacle course consists of eight different obstacles and eight different fitness elements.

Visitors don’t have to choose from just one food truck. A whole host of tasty treat trucks are available so that everyone can find something perfect for them!

In addition to the food trucks along the main beachfront (that are also drive-thru), there is a complete wooden walkway with many great restaurants and cafes to choose from.

Some popular restaurants include Rain, Shrimp Pot, Babu Town, Projecto Acai and Muncheeze. There are also several great places for coffee , such as DRVN, I Love Coffee and Shot.

7. Stroll Yas Bay Waterfront

Go to Yas Bay Waterfront for some of Abu Dhabi’s most high-end sightseeing opportunities. The array of activities entertains and indulges the taste buds with delicious food and refreshing drinks!

You are spoilt for choice here in terms of great places to eat, with a multitude of different cuisines available. One of the best times to visit is at night time when the waterfront promenade is lit up and sparkles with all its glitz and glam.

8. Take a Stroll on Soul Beachfront

Soul Beach is the latest addition to Saadiyat Island and is another place to be seen in Abu Dhabi. It can be found between the Louvre Abu Dhabi, in what used to just have trees on it.

This location next door to Manarat Al Saadiyat gives easy access for shopping or grabbing some food while listening to music at one of Berklee’s stages!

If visitors can stand the heat, Saadiyat Island is a beautiful place to visit in the middle of summer. They can enjoy 400m of pristine white sandy beach with parasols, sun loungers and good food at their fingertips!

There are also many ac t ivities for children including sand castle-building workshops or games on site where they will indeed spend hours playing.

While it is free to visit the area, the beach charges around Dhs50 for a lounger and parasol mid-week and Dhs75 on the weekend.

9. Visit Emirates Palace

Another Abu Dhabi tourist attraction is the iconic Emirates Palace. This luxurious resort offers guests an outstanding experience from the moment they arrive. Positioned on a private white sand beach, the palace welcomes everyone into its world of indulgence and the service is second to none!

As one of Abu Dhabi’s top attractions, there’s plenty here to keep families occupied during their stay at this amazing property. However, there is no need to stay to enjoy the stunning beauty of Emirates Palace.

The lobbies and exhibitions of this glamorous hotel are free to visit and there is no need to reserve a time. The gardens are off-limits to the public as well as the private beach which is reserved for paying guests of the hotel .

10. Walk Along Corniche Beachfront 

Abu Dhabi’s famous Corniche Beach is another top tourist spot. It is one of the best places to soak up Abu Dhabi’s beautiful sunshine.

This pristine beach isn’t just home to turquoise water and soft white sand, and it has an elegant seaside boardwalk which stretches the entire length of the promenade.

Follow the boardwalk to manicured gardens filled with flowers as well as gorgeous views overlooking this picturesque Arabian Gulf coastline.

The village has everything from shops and markets , wildlife, pottery lessons with artisans making authentic pieces on site and glass-blown objects made by the locals.

The public workshops let visitors see how traditional crafts like metalwork, pottery or weaving are done before having the chance to try out their trade under supervision from professionals who know what’s best.

For those looking to buy some souvenirs – there’s no better place than the little spice shop where they sell fresh herbs as well handmade soaps made locally using only natural ingredients.

12. Alahambra Family House

Symbolising the unique diversity of the UAE, the Alahambra Family House’s vision is for all faiths to come together in peace through shared knowledge and the practice of faith. The grounds house a Mosque, Church and Synagogue.

These architectural masterpieces are all designed of equal size, stature and materials to eliminate any hierarchy. In doing this, a shared space has been achieved where worshippers of all faiths can come and practice their faiths.

Paid Things to do in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is a great place to visit for families, couples , or even singles. Some of the best places to visit in Abu Dhabi require an entrance fee.

From outdoor activities in Abu Dhabi, such as waterparks, to amazing dining experiences at some of the best hotels in the world. Below is a list of some paid activities in Abu Dhabi to keep everyone entertained on their visit .

13. Desert Safari 

Take a journey to the Middle East on a desert safari where guests can visit some of Earth’s most exotic animals. The first stop is at a camel farm, these well-adjusted desert dwellers have been around since before recorded history!

Guests can also usually drive 2-4 seater sand buggies around a designated area of the desert . This is usually at an additional charge however, we certainly recommend doing this.

Take it in turns to ride around with family or friends or, if there are enough of you, race!

Usually, there will be a few market-type stalls or shops around the camel and buggy area. Here, you can purchase things like traditional scarves and other clothing .

Similar to spending time in a traditional Arabian market or souk, the salespeople may be eager to put these items on you to get you to purchase.

14. Desert 4WD

Next, it’s off into the 4WD for some thrilling dune bashing, make sure to hold on tight as guests are driven up and down the mountainous dunes on the way towards the desert camp .

There is nothing quite as thrilling as desert bashing on one of these safari experiences.

You may be able to stop for a break from the exhilarating bashing to walk up some dunes and get some beautiful sunset pictures with your party.

The campsite areas are very traditional, with makeshift stalls and tents around a large stage.

Guests will be treated to a seated BBQ buffet dinner whilst enjoying a show, usually some dancing and music.

There will also be some camels and buggies or quads around the site, which visitors can take advantage of at a small extra cost.

Then you will either be driven back to an agreed location or, if you are staying the night, be shown to your tent where you can sleep under the desert stars.

If you stay the night, you will also be treated to breakfast the following morning before being driven back to an agreed location.

15. Mangroves Jubail Board Walk

Visitors to Abu Dhabi’s beautiful Jubail Mangrove Park have been exploring the walking trails since it opened in January 2020. And with good reason!

The mangroves are a refreshing escape from busy city life, offering visitors lush greenery and the tranquil sounds of the tides flowing in and out around them.

The pathways wind through the mangroves, allowing visitors to explore the natural landscape and wildlife living in the waterways below.

A floating platform is on site where rangers are available for questions about the local environment and marine life underwater – they will show off their expertise in an informative manner!

The site was developed to increase awareness, appreciation and understanding of the mangrove habitats and how they support the protection of the Abu Dhabi coastline.

It is located on a beautiful island between two otherworldly locations. Opening times are from 8 am to 6.30 pm daily and admission is around Dhs15.

If you get hungry or thirsty on your travels, there is a lovely cafe restaurant, ‘Crane’ at the park entrance.

Here guests can enjoy refreshing drinks like fresh juices and smoothies, all made in-house.

There are also many delicious food options, like freshly prepared sandwiches and baked pastries.

Visitors have the option to sit inside in the fresh AC or outdoors in the shade with stunning views of the mangroves.

16. Qasar Al Watan

Qasr Al Watan is more than a palace; it’s an interactive journey in which visitors can learn about Abu Dhabi and UAE culture through history from both local and international perspectives.

The fascinating building has been designed to show how governance works on every level – from what people wear when they’re visiting queens or meeting foreign leaders down to their shoes!

Visitors can explore the spectacular building and enjoy the arabesque design and architecture.

Qasar Al Watan also offers visitors a palace-in-motion experience, a treat for visitors of all ages. The exterior of the castle comes to life with an exciting and engaging light show.

Guests relax in the seating area outside the castle while the whole front of the fascinating building turns into a story with lights and music.

This is a brilliantly engaging way to inform visitors of the history of the UAE.

The Al Ain Zoo is home to over 4,000 animals. Some of these can be seen up close like the giraffe feeding experience and other exotic species who live in transparent enclosures.

Umm Al Emarat Park is one of the largest and oldest parks in Abu Dhabi. Originally named Mushrif Park, it has seen extensive renovations resulting in a great day out for the whole family, friends or even alone!

Towards the end of every year, Formula 1 fans flock to Yas Island for the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 finale. This is a four day, world-class event.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is not just popular because it is the last race on the F1 calendar. 

It is also one of the world’s most impressive, well-organised events. Running from Thursday until Sunday, the circuit is transformed into a full festival.

Compared to the mild weather in the city and coast, temperatures in the interior region (such as the desert and mountains) can reach extremes. So, it’s a good idea to bring layers, especially if you plan on visiting between November and March. In summer, breathable fabrics like cotton and linen make it easier to bear the heat and humidity.

4. Get around by taxi with the Abu Dhabi Taxi app

If you plan on getting around Abu Dhabi by taxi, download the Abu Dhabi Taxi booking app ( App Store and Google Play ) on your smartphone in advance. You’ll thank yourself for doing so instead of trying to hail one on the street in 40°C (104°F) weather. 

The app connects you to the nearest available taxi, which usually arrives at your location in under 10 minutes. You can also book a wheelchair-friendly taxi using the app. You’ll need to specify your pick-up and drop-off location, which means that you’re less likely to get lost, even when trying to reach a hole-in-the-wall biryani restaurant in Downtown Abu Dhabi. 

Alternatively, for use in the wider country, download and use the UAE-based  Careem smartphone app to book rides.

5. Hop on the free shuttle or take the public bus 

The complimentary Experience Abu Dhabi Shuttle Bus service connects eight routes around the city and attractions such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi , Qasr Al Hosn , Qasr Al Watan and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque . These modern air-conditioned buses are wheelchair-accessible and are an excellent way to explore Abu Dhabi Island, Saadiyat Island and Yas Island. 

To travel on public buses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, buy the prepaid Hafilat Smart Card at the Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station or any branch of the supermarket chain Lulu Hypermarket. Load money onto it using the recharge machines at bus stations. To pay, scan in and out on the validator in the buses. Bus journeys cost Dhs2 plus 5 fils per km.

6. Dress appropriately to blend in with the city’s residents 

Choose to dress according to the setting of your planned activities for the day. To be respectful while visiting a museum, the markets in Al Mina or cultural sights such as Qasr Al Hosn and Wahat Al Karama , wear opaque clothing that is not body-hugging, covers your shoulders and falls well below the knee. This is also the appropriate way to dress while visiting Al Ain or smaller towns in the Liwa Oasis. 

At religious sites like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, both men and women who are not modestly dressed in loose, opaque clothing that covers their arms and legs are asked to wear a robe over their clothes (you can buy one from a nearby shop, if there are none to borrow). At the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Abrahamic Family House , women will need a scarf to cover their heads.

To dine at a restaurant or visit a mall, dress as you would in any other city, keeping in mind that the locals are always well-groomed. Feel free to show off your style at nightclubs and bars that are located inside hotels.

For women, swimsuits and bikinis are acceptable at hotel swimming pools and public and private beaches. That being said, you’re more likely to see women in one-piece swimsuits and modest swimming attire on public beaches that aren’t located in expat-heavy residential areas. Female travelers might find it useful to carry a scarf or a shirt to cover their shoulders and arms if needed. 

7. Respect privacy when photographing public spaces

While photographing sights around Abu Dhabi, pay attention to where your lens is pointed. Don’t take photos of people, especially women and children, without permission.

In the UAE, it’s illegal to photograph or take videos of people without their consent and share them on social media. While it’s unlikely that you’ll be arrested for taking a photo of an attraction where other people also appear, wait until they have moved out of the frame. Never attempt to zoom in and take portrait-style photos (of recognizable faces) without explicit consent.

8. Learn the local greeting and phrases

English is widely spoken but you’re likely to be greeted with the Emirati greeting “as salam alaykum” . Transcending the casual courtesy of an English “Hello”, it translates to “peace be upon you.” Responding with “walaykum as salam” and using “shukran”  (thank you) in Arabic will earn you the appreciation of locals. 

9. Familiarize yourself with the rules of social interaction

When meeting an Emirati of the opposite sex, don’t reach out for a handshake. Wait for them to offer their hand first; it is likely that instead you will be greeted with a smile and them placing their right hand on their heart as a mark of respect – you should respond the same way. 

Physical contact among members of the same sex is common, usually as handshakes (always with the right hand) when you’re getting acquainted. Emirati men may also greet each other with a nose-to-nose kiss or cheek-to-cheek kisses, with the latter also being common among Emirati women.

10. Be aware of the rules of non-verbal communication 

In Emirati culture, non-verbal communication is important, so be conscious of your body language, especially in formal situations. Whether in a majlis , an Emirati home, or a government office, don’t sit with your knees crossed over each other, or with one leg resting on the other knee such that your foot is pointing at or your sole is facing someone – as both are insulting.

Pointing at someone with your index finger, beckoning with it, or wagging it while emphasizing your point is rude. 

Use your right hand to accept or offer something, such as a cup of gahwa (Arabic coffee) or money, and to eat (the left hand is reserved for the toilet). 

Rude gesturing (showing someone the middle finger) and hurling profanities is illegal and can lead to fines, imprisonment and deportation. 

11. Behave appropriately during Ramadan

The month of Ramadan is a time of prayer for Muslims who fast from dawn to sunset. For those not fasting, food and drinks are readily available during the day at restaurants and cafes in shopping malls, hotels and elsewhere. 

The law requires that non-Muslim visitors only eat and drink (including water and chewing gum) at restaurants and designated spots (such as mall food courts) out of consideration for those fasting. Most non-fasting residents maintain discretion as a matter of social courtesy. You will not be arrested for sipping water outside on a hot day, but do your best to do so out of sight, and be ready to apologize if required.

Don’t blast loud music in public places – use headphones instead. Modest dressing in clothes that cover the shoulders and legs is appreciated.

12. Know the code of conduct at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is an active place of worship where physical contact between visitors, even when posing for a photograph, is inappropriate. Don’t touch, hold hands or have an arm around your companion while having photos taken – security will approach you and ask you to delete the photo. You’re not allowed to gesture (so no victory signs or thumbs up). Don’t attempt to lie down on the exquisite carpet while taking photos inside the prayer halls.

13. Public displays of affection are frowned upon

Kissing, hugging and other public displays of affection are frowned upon, and prohibited at religious sites such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. These days, holding hands does not raise eyebrows, but use your judgment according to the setting. It’s probably okay to do so in a shopping mall or at the beach, but not at the fish market or the Abrahamic Family House. Same-sex relationships are illegal in Abu Dhabi. 

14. There is no tolerance for drunken behavior 

In Abu Dhabi, alcohol is available at licensed restaurants and bars, and consumption of alcohol in unauthorized locations (such as a public beach) is illegal. While it's perfectly acceptable to have a good time, there is zero tolerance for rash, loud and aggressive behavior as a result of having had one too many. That means swearing, rude gestures, picking fights or causing a public nuisance are all illegal and punishable by imprisonment and fines.

15. Don’t drink and drive, even over short distances

Driving under the influence of alcohol is a crime in the UAE and can result in imprisonment and fines upwards of Dhs20,000, should you find yourself in an accident. If you plan on drinking, leave the rental car behind and take a taxi instead. 

16. Make note of emergency numbers 

In case of emergencies and the need for rescue, evacuation or urgent medical assistance, contact Abu Dhabi Police on 999.

The Abu Dhabi Louvre takes visitors through the course of human civilization and, in doing so, draws comparisons between disparate cultures.

Abu Dhabi packs a lot of life into a relatively small square footage. For visitors, the city—meaning, the capital city of the emirate of the same name—contains cultural experiences, architectural wonders, shopping excursions, and even outdoor adventure. But somehow, the city feels more akin to a relaxed coastal town than a busy metropolis. I traveled to Abu Dhabi in January 2024 with my husband and toddler, where we got to dip our toes into what the Middle Eastern city has to offer.

The culinary scene in Abu Dhabi is constantly evolving, and overall, standards are high. We did not have a single bad bite of food during our time there. Given that the UAE is home to people from over 200 countries, it’s possible to sample delicious food from dozens of global cuisines. Nicola Chilton shared with Afar readers her personal favorite places to go in Abu Dhabi for Emirati food. We enjoyed inventive pan-Asian food at Mamafri , beautifully presented Indian food at Mynt , and a more casual Thai lunch at San Thai Diner (save room for the mango sticky rice). There are a variety of tours on offer at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, including a guided mindful experience.

1. View art with a global lens at the Louvre Abu Dhabi

Twenty minutes into my visit at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, I was entranced. Unlike most museums of its scale, it starts with a strong point of view and uses its exhibition space to expand on it. The Louvre prides itself on having a global perspective. It eschews traditional divisions of art collections by geographic region, which may subconsciously lead visitors to marvel over some cultures’ primitive art forms and other cultures’ highly advanced techniques.

Through 12 rooms (and a grand vestibule at the beginning), the museum takes a visitor through time—and for each time period, displays paintings, sculptures, masks, and other art pieces to tell the larger story of human civilization. On an entrance wall, text reads, “The chronological journey . . . highlights the characteristics shared by humanity throughout its history. The thematic presentation of the works draws attention to the similarities and particularities of our forms of artistic expression, surpassing any geographical limitations.”

For example, within the grand vestibule, three gold funerary masks are placed together. The first is from Peru (100 B.C.E.–700 C.E.), the second from the Philippines (900–1200), and the third from either Lebanon or Syria (600–300 B.C.E.). They are from different continents and times, yet throughout human history, we have adorned our dead in precious metals. Celebrating the similarities of humankind, in an age of increasing division, to me felt revolutionary. (Some museum reviewers have considered such groupings as these to be “simplistic and historically inexact,” but I found them refreshing.)

Even if you’re not in the mood to read every plaque, the Louvre Abu Dhabi makes for a lovely half-day trip. Jean Nouvel’s architecture is stunning: a porous half-dome sits above modern gray walls and a series of canals. Visitors can enjoy it from multiple vantage points, including at the Art Lounge on the rooftop, which offers unobstructed views of Abu Dhabi’s skyline.

How to visit

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is on Saadiyat Island, which the city is developing into a larger cultural hub with theaters, hotels, and other museums, including a Guggenheim Abu Dhabi set to open in 2025. It is easily accessible by taxi from the city, by public transportation (bus or water taxi), or also by the Cultural Express bus from Dubai. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. until midnight. Galleries and exhibitions close at 6:30 p.m. on weekdays and 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

To visit the museum, timed tickets are available directly from the website . The admission fee is 63 AED (about US$17) per adult; children under 18 years of age and “people of determination,” meaning people with physical and/or mental impairments, are free of charge. Visitors can also choose to take a private 45-minute tour through the permanent collection for 600 AED (US$163) per person.

Corniche Beach is comprised of three different sections and features showers, changing rooms and cabanas.

2. Sunbathe at the Corniche Beach

Given that the beach overlooks giant skyscrapers, the aquamarine water at Corniche Beach is shockingly clear. This five-mile stretch of white sand also contains walking and cycling paths, manicured gardens, and elaborate children’s play areas (which I had to peel my daughter off of).

While at the beach, I saw two signs that prompted further inquiry. First, signs designated specific areas of the walkway for “people of determination,” a term with which I was unfamiliar. Later, while at the Louvre, I learned that this is Abu Dhabi’s more inclusive way of naming people who are physically impaired and/or neurodivergent, and that the city has a five-year action plan to empower such individuals and include them in society at large. Second, I noticed that Corniche Beach has Blue Flag status, an international eco-label that means it meets “a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria.”

The Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi can accommodate some 40,000 worshippers.

3. Gape at the sheer scale of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is, in a word, grand. It’s the largest mosque in the UAE and the third-largest in the world. In addition to thousands of visitors, the mosque can accommodate over 40,000 worshippers. Inaugurated in 2007, the scale of the mosque is impressive. It consists of 82 domes, 1,096 columns (many adorned with semi-precious stones), the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet, and chandeliers bejeweled with thousands of Swarovski crystals.

While the mosque is gorgeous during the day, when dusk hits, the lighting design comes to life. The passageways and the columns become softly illuminated, drawing attention to the arches and design details. The design draws from Islamic architectural traditions from around the world, including Persian, Mamluk, and Mughal styles. I later learned that the mosque’s lighting design is connected to the lunar cycle (similar to how the Islamic faith uses the lunar calendar). When the moon is full, the lights are white, and when there is a new moon, the lights take on a deeper blue tint.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is free of charge to visitors. From Saturday to Thursday, it is open from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Note that the mosque is closed to visitors on Fridays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can book their visits in advance on the mosque’s website . The mosque offers free guided tours, which last up to 45 minutes. On the tours, visitors will learn more about the architecture, the Islamic faith, and Emirati culture. There is a dress code to enter the mosque: All genders must keep shoulders and knees covered, and women must wear loose-fitting clothing and a headscarf. 4. Paddle through the trees at Jubail Mangrove Park

When the large-scale, air-conditioned modern city feels too much, head toward the trees—specifically, the vast mangrove forests across the emirate’s coast. According to one estimate, there are more than 60 square miles (156 square kilometers) of mangroves across the United Arab Emirates as a whole. The more I have learned about this unique ecosystem, the more I have come to appreciate it as a humble eco-warrior. In addition to protecting vulnerable shorelines from erosion, mangrove trees can naturally desalinate salty seawater while also trapping thousands of tons of carbon dioxide in their root systems. The forests in Abu Dhabi are also home to dozens of species of shoreline birds, including herons and flamingos, as well as crabs and fish.

The best ways to explore Abu Dhabi’s mangrove forests are either by kayak or by walking along boardwalks at Jubail Mangrove Park, a sanctuary located between Yas Island and Saadiyat Island, about 30 minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi. The boardwalks, which stretch more than a mile, meander through the trees and offer views of the complex root systems and the sea creatures that they help sustain. Structures that look like fishing nets are perfect for relaxing above the clear turquoise water; children love to use them as makeshift trampolines. A guided kayaking tour, meanwhile, lets travelers explore the area from a wholly different vantage point. The park offers kayak tours at sunrise as well as at night, lit with LED lights under the boats.

Tickets to Jubail Mangrove Park can be prebooked online . A single kayak is 120 AED (US$32), which includes the entry fee to the boardwalk, which is otherwise 15 AED (US$4). Most parts of the boardwalk are accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. Before or after touring the forest, visitors may enjoy an iced cappuccino at the Crane Cafe, near the entrance.

It might take some time to get a taxi to pick you up from the mangrove park; I recommend booking a round-trip transfer in advance if possible.

5. Hit up the souks

They say no trip to the Middle East is complete without shopping (“It’s not Dubai,” my cousins in India once told me. “It’s ‘Do Buy!’”). While Abu Dhabi has its share of luxury retailers and multistory malls, I have a special place in my heart for the traditional souks.

To get a taste of the glitz associated with this region, check out the Gold Souk , located in the Madinat Zayed Mall. Here, you will see rows upon rows of elaborate necklaces, bangles, earrings, and even pure gold coins and bricks (subtler jewelry is available, too, if extravagant bling isn’t your style). You can also find shops stocked with semi-precious and precious gems.

At one end of Mina Road, bargain your way to a new living room rug at Abu Dhabi’s Carpet Souk . The Middle East is known for some of the finest carpets in the world, and there are hundreds on display at this market. Shopping can be overwhelming, especially when assistants are unfurling carpet after carpet and watching you expectantly. I recommend doing some research beforehand into what makes for a high-quality carpet and set parameters for yourself before going in, such as size, color scheme, and material.

Nearby, the Mina Zayed Dates Market taught me that a date is not just a date. There are Medjool dates that are large and sweet. There are Ajwa dates that look like giant raisins and taste like caramel. There are dates dipped in chocolate, dates rolled in nuts, dates to be eaten with tahini. There are date jams and date spreads. Heck, given how intoxicating the market is, perhaps it’s a good spot to bring a date (sorry).

Miral has announced record visitor numbers for Yas Island and Saadiyat Island . Yas Island recorded more than 34 million visits in 2023, a rise of 38 per cent compared to 2022, while Saadiyat Island visitor numbers grew by 44 per cent compared to 2022, in line with sustainable growth of Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector.

Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, Group CEO of Miral, said: "These record-breaking figures reiterate our commitment to positioning Yas Island as a global destination for entertainment and leisure, and Saadiyat Island as a leading beach, nature and cultural destination. Aligned with Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030, our goal is to deliver new leisure, entertainment, and cultural destinations and experiences that enhance visitor experiences while generating sustainable value and contributing significantly to Abu Dhabi’s tourism growth and economic diversification."

Theme parks and CLYMB at Yas Island recorded an increase of 83 per cent in 2023 compared to 2022. Visitor numbers from the GCC grew by 125 per cent compared to the previous year. The theme parks across the Island also saw a substantial 167 per cent increase in international visits, primarily driven by travellers from India, the UK, Russia and Germany.

Yas Island’s consumer events received an increase of 87 per cent, as more than 560,000 visitors attended concerts, performances, and family and sports events. Yas Island also received 23 MICE Groups, a 77 per cent rise compared to the previous year, with a total related increase in spending of 62 per cent compared to the previous year. The summer of 2023 had a 96 per cent surge in visitation in July and August compared to 2022. Hotels on Yas Island also experienced growth, with a 90 per cent occupancy during June to August.

Yas Island will also feature new developments, including the 16,900 square metre expansion to Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi , and a Harry Potter theme park at Warner Bros. World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi . Additional projects include the 560-metre beachfront development of Yas Bay Beach, serving as an addition to leisure and lifestyle experiences at Yas Bay Waterfront .

Newly developed attractions on Saadiyat Island, in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) , include teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi , a multi-sensory art experience at Saadiyat Cultural District, as well as the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi .

Yas Island and Saadiyat Island received more than 170 regional and international accolades in 2023. Yas Island received 130 awards, while Saadiyat Island received over 40 awards across the travel and tourism sector.

Emirates signs MoUs with Tourism Boards of Malaysia, Turkey, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce

D UBAI, 7th May, 2024 (WAM) -- Emirates has signed a number of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) on the first day of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) with Tourism Malaysia, Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce. These agreements demonstrate the airline’s commitment to entice more travellers across its network of more than 140 destinations to experience the sights, culture and attractions of each destination, in addition to supporting travel opportunities for local UAE companies and SMEs.

Emirates and Tourism Malaysia will work to promote tourism and boost visitor traffic into Malaysia from the airline’s global network. The MoU was signed by Orhan Abbas, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Far East and Datuk (Dr.) Yasmin Mahmood, Chairman of Tourism Malaysia in the presence of Nabil Sultan, Emirates Executive Vice President, Passenger Sales & Country Management.

Through the strategic agreement, both parties will explore joint advertising and tactical campaigns and where viable, Emirates will facilitate familiarisation trips from key markets in the Gulf and the Middle East to Malaysia to generate awareness and demand.

Orhan Abbas commented: “For over three decades, we’ve been serving Malaysia with world-class service and industry-leading products, while seamlessly connecting the popular gateway with the rest of the world. We’re excited to collaborate with Tourism Malaysia to help drive more traffic growth into the market by leveraging our extensive global network to generate more opportunities for travellers to explore Malaysia’s rich attractions, unique landmarks, and cultural heritage.”

Last year, Emirates and Batik Air Malaysia launched a codeshare agreement, allowing Emirates’ customers to easily access five domestic Malaysian cities and three regional Southeast Asia points via Kuala Lumpur.

Emirates and the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) will collaborate on strengthening Türkiye’s touristic appeal in new and existing source markets. The agreement was signed by Thierry Aucoc, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe and İsmail Bütün, General Manager of TGA in the presence of Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer.

Under the new agreement, Emirates and TGA will join hands to promote tourism from key markets across the airline’s global network, explore opportunities to organise familiarisation trips to Türkiye, and collaborate on joint marketing and promotional campaigns that highlight the destination’s uniqueness.

Thierry Aucoc commented: “We’re pleased to partner with the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), to boost visitor traffic into Türkiye.
