Applying for a Schengen visa for the Netherlands in Saudi Arabia

If you will be visiting the Netherlands for a maximum of 90 days – for a holiday, to do business or to see family, for example – you can apply for a Schengen visa. Follow the steps below to apply in Saudi Arabia.

Where can I apply for a visa?

To apply for a Schengen visa in Saudi Arabia go to the VFS Global application centre in Al Khobar, Aramco Dhahran, Jeddah or Riyadh. You can only submit an application there if you live in Saudi Arabia.

Step 2: Gather the documents you need

You need several documents to apply for a Schengen visa. Which ones you need depends on your purpose of travel.

Family member of an EU/EEA national or Swiss national?

If you are travelling with a family member who is a national of an EU/EEA member state or Switzerland, or you’re travelling to visit that family member, you may be eligible for free Schengen visa facilitation.

Step 3: Make an appointment

Once you have all the documents you need for your Schengen visa application, you can make an appointment. You can apply for your visa up to 6 months ahead of your trip. Apply no later than 45 days before your trip.

• Making an appointment is free of charge. Do not make an appointment with an intermediary because they will charge you money.
• If you are applying for visas for multiple people, make a separate appointment for each person.

If you have a diplomatic passport, make an appointment online at the Netherlands embassy in Riyadh .

Can someone else submit my application for me?

You must appear in person at your appointment to submit your application, even if you’re under 18.

You don’t need to appear in person to submit your application if:

• you have applied in person for a Schengen visa within the past 5 years (59 months), and:
• you submitted a photo with that application, and:
• your fingerprints were taken for that application (only applies if you are 12 or older).

If you meet all 3 conditions, you can have someone else submit your application for you. The appointment must be under the name of the person submitting your application.

If you are not certain whether VFS Global or the embassy has your fingerprints on record, you should submit your application in person. Neither VFS Global nor the embassy can check this for you.

How can I change or cancel my appointment?

To change or cancel your appointment, contact VFS Global in Saudi Arabia .

If you have a diplomatic passport and made an appointment at the embassy, you will receive a confirmation by email. The email contains a link that you can use to change or cancel your appointment.

Go to your appointment, and bring all the documents on your checklist from step 2 with you, plus the checklist itself.

What happens at my appointment?

At your appointment you:

• submit the documents that are on your checklist, together with your passport
• provide your fingerprints (only if you are 12 or older)
• answer questions about your trip
• pay the visa fees
• indicate whether you want to collect your passport (with visa affixed) or have it sent to you
• receive a reference or tracking number to track the status of your application

Step 5: Collect your passport or have it sent to you

You will receive an email once your application has been processed. The email won’t say whether your application was successful. You can collect your passport or have it sent to you. If your application was approved, the visa will be affixed to a page in your passport.

Having your passport sent to you

If you choose to have your passport sent to you, you’ll discuss at your appointment how to arrange this.

You will have to pay the postage charge yourself. Arrange that the courier will get your card with the track & trace number. With this card, the courier can pick up your passport at the embassy and send it to you.

Having your passport sent to you is at your own risk.

Collecting your passport

If you choose to collect your passport, you’ll discuss at your appointment when you can collect it. You can also have someone else collect your passport for you.

If you collect your passport yourself, bring the following with you:

• a valid form of ID
• the proof of payment provided by VFS Global

If someone else collects your passport for you, they must bring the following with them:

• a signed letter from you authorising them to collect your passport

If you have a diplomatic passport and submitted your application at the embassy, email [email protected] to make an appointment to collect your passport. Take into account the embassy’s opening hours and closing days .

How to Get a Vfs Global Riyadh Appointment?

You can book an appointment with VFS Global Riyadh online, via email , telephone , web chat , or even in person. For online, you must create your own login credentials and schedule. For email, use the web form . The chat lets you directly contact a contact center agent.

You will be asked for some Personal Information. Do not give any more than required. This will also require a consent form. Once your appointment is booked, you’ll get an appointment letter covering the date, time, location and more for the appointment.

Process of Vfs Global Passport Renewal

Let’s assume you want to renew a UK passport; make sure to research the type of passport you need and its eligibility criteria , required documents , and fees before you start. Once that’s done, download the application form , fill it, and print the complete form. Bring it to an application center in Riyadh for submission. You don’t need a prior appointment for this.

After you submit your passport renewal form, required documents, and fees, you can track the application process via email, SMS, or your receipt’s Reference Number. When your new passport is ready, visit in person with your original receipt and old passport to receive it.

Visa application centre to cater 8,000 employees, personnel of subsidiary govt. bodies

Dubai: Dubai and Zurich-headquartered visa outsourcing and consular services provider VFS Global has signed a pact with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce to open a visa application centre within its premises in Riyadh.

The visa application centre will cater to 8,000 employees, delegates, and personnel of subsidiary government institutions under the Ministry. VFS Global will also provide the ‘visa at your doorstep’ service to simplify the application process for all applicants. The company staff will visit the applicant’s chosen location to complete the application process, VFS said in a statement.

“We are very pleased to offer this dedicated Visa Application Centre service to the employees and associates of the Ministry to enhance their visa application experience further in a seamless, convenient, and secure manner,” said Zubin Karkaria, Founder and CEO of VFS Global.

This partnership will also ensure VFS Global’s position as the Kingdom’s trusted partner to client governments. It will add to the chain of collaborations with Saudi Arabia, which includes agreements with Aramco, Neom, and Chambers of Commerce.

In an earlier interview with Gulf News , Zakaria said on VFS Global’s expansion plans in KSA, “Saudi Arabia are well on their way to cross demand from 2019 levels. People will be more resilient, and the propensity to pay will be very high. There will be more destinations people will want to travel to as well.”

Late last year, VFS Global announced it had won the global contract for overseas UK visa and Citizenship services. This year, VFS Global will deploy 240 Visa and Citizenship Application Service (VCAS) Centres for the UK in 142 countries across Africa and the Middle East, the Americas, Australasia and Europe, China & Taiwan, and Asia and Asia Pacific.

“These centres will accept all visa and UK passport application categories in some locations. Combined, these new centres are estimated to process 3.8 million applicants yearly,” the company said.

Saudi visa issuance process goes digital; Applicants must visit VFS centre

The employment, visit and residence visas for Indians can be processed through an e-visa system where immigration authorities extract the details through a QR scan code.

Jeddah: In a significant development, Saudi Arabia has begun to implement e-visa for Indians who are arriving from India.

The new system that eliminated the traditional visa sticker on passports came into force on May 1. Now only the QR code is to be read to extract the visa details. However, visa information is sent to the registered email ID of visa holders and the same can be printed on an A-4 size paper to have a hard copy to prove they have obtained a visa.

The new system is part of Vision 2030 that enables digital governance in a gradual manner. The e-visa initiative came into effect on May 1 in India and other seven countries.

The new system will reduce the time in processing and bring transparency. More importantly, it will weed out the existing travel agent system that acts as an intermediary to endorse Saudi visas in New Delhi and Mumbai.

However, it is now mandatory for any person who is applying for a Saudi visa to visit VFS Global – visa processing centres – as visa applications would be processed through them only.

There is an influx of visitors from across Telangana into Saudi Arabia, who arrive in Saudi Arabia without having to step out of their homes as their visas are processed by travel agencies. However, now it’s mandatory to physically visit the VFS centre, explained NRI activist and AP NRT coordinator Muzzamil Shaikh.

Summary  The Saudi Ministry of Commerce has signed an agreement with VFS Global for new visa application services.

The Detail  Under this agreement, VFS Global will set up a visa application center service at the Ministry of Commerce headquarters premises in Riyadh, to streamline the visa processing for employees, delegates and subsidiary firms.

A noteworthy aspect of this agreement is the introduction of the “Visa at your doorstep” service (currently available for certain embassies/missions only), enabling applicants to have skilled professionals visit a location of their choosing to complete the visa application process.

This agreement further enhances the extensive network of collaborations within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and solidifies the commitment of organisations working with the KSA authorities to simplifying cross-border mobility and offering enhanced convenience to applicants. These collaborations include agreements with Aramco, Neom, and Chambers of Commerce throughout the country.

Application Fee

The visa application fee must be paid in cash only. The visa application fee for each application is SAR 80.00.

Please note:

• The applicable visa fee in SAR 80 is as per the current exchange rate. It is subject to change without notice due to sudden foreign exchange fluctuations.
• The visa fee is non-refundable.

Service Charges

Applicants shall be levied a service charge of SAR 147.00 (inclusive of tax) per application. This fee is payable in cash only

Additional services

The fees listed here are in addition to the visa application fee and the service charges. The services can be purchased at the visa application. These services are supplied by VFS Global.

The processing time for a visa application is between 15 working days excluding the day of submission and the Saudi and Singapore week-ends. However, some applications may take longer if further verification is required.

For all types of visa applications, the following are the basic documents are required:

• Application Form (14) duly completed and signed by the applicant (Form 14 is also downloadable from: www.ica.gov.sg
• 1 recent passport sized colour photograph with white background.
• Passport & a photocopy of passport (pages showing personal details and the validity as well as endorsement of valid visas to other countries, if any). Please ensure that the passport is valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of departure to Singapore.
• Hotel & travel reservation printout/confirmation.
• Letter of identification from the employer/sponsor
• A letter of invitation from Singapore contact/company with signatory’s name/NRIC number & designation if application is made for business purposes.
• Official translation of the documents are required if they are not in the English Language.
• Visa processing fee SR 90 per application (non-refundable)
• The applicant and the local contact may be required to furnish additional documents and information whenever necessary.
• Incomplete/illegible forms and /or documents submitted may result in the application being rejected or the processing delayed.
• Every application for a visa will be considered on its own merits.
• Possession of a visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore. Visitors must also meet entry requirements such as holding a valid passport, sufficient funds for the period of stay in Singapore and confirmed onward/return sir ticket.
• All documents must be submitted on A4 size paper only.

• The photograph must be in color.
• It should be without border.
• It should have a light colored background only so that features are distinguishable and in contrast against the background.
• It should have a close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph.
• It should be in sharp focus and clear.
• It should be of high quality with no ink marks and creases.
• The photograph must show you looking directly at the camera.
• It should be 4.5 cm X 3.5 cm.
• It should show your skin tone naturally.
• It should have appropriate brightness and contrast.
• The photograph should be a recent one not more than 3 months old.
• Photograph can be taken with headgear, the main characteristics of the face must be apparent from the photograph. Chin, nose, eyes and eyebrows must not be covered; the forehead should be uncovered to the extent that the shape of the face is apparent.
• It should be without hat/cap.
• It should be without the applicant's hair tucked behind his/her ears.
• The photograph must show facing square on to the camera, not looking over the shoulder or tilted, and showing both edges of the face clearly.
• It should be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflections on the face and no red eye
• If wearing glasses the photograph must show the eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses and no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames – lighter framed glasses to be worn). Make sure the frame does not cover any part of the eye.
• The photograph must show alone (no chair backs, toys or other people visible) looking at the camera with a neutral expression and the mouth closed.
• The photograph should not have any staple marks.
• Scanned & color photocopies would NOT be accepted.

Processing time would normally take 15 working days excluding the day of submission and the Saudi & Singapore weekends.

Application Form

Applicants shall be levied a service charge of SAR 166.47 (inclusive of tax) per application. This fee is payable in cash only

• Applications without a Letter of Invitation ( V39A ) without a mentioned of NRIC number will not be accepted.
• Applicants can request a representative to submit their visa application and all necessary documents on their behalf however the representative must submit an authorisation letter , without which the application will not be accepted
• Collection of Visa: If your application is approved, the authorised visa agent share the notification by email to review the visa document or please contact our call centre for more information.
• Family applying together: Marriage certificate for spouse, Birth Certificate for children under 21 years old.
• A copy of Valid Iqama with mentioned current validity date (Saudi Arabian Residence Permit).
• A Letter of Invitation (V39A), from Singapore contact with a mention of NRIC number if application is made for Tourism purpose. (Letter of invitation issued by Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Singapore to be duly attested by Ministry of Foreign affairs (Wazart Kharjiah). The Embassy will not accept invitation letter from hotels, travel agencies, airlines and travel and tour offices. Except Jeddah Consulate is acceptable. Letter of Introduction (LOI) must be issued by a local contact in Singapore. Any Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident who is at least 21 years old can act as a local contact. If you are not able to furnish a LOI from a local contact, you may approach your Embassy/High Commission/ Consulate to issue a LOI to support your visa application. Singapore Visa Applications for Saudi Nationals: Saudi Nationals are not required to submit V39A/LOI for their visa applications, and only need to furnish the four fields of the LC in Part III of Form 14A .
