• Page 63 62 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE ORC deploys the Advanced Front Airbags, SABIC air- bags — if equipped, Supplemental Seat-Mounted Side Airbags — if equipped, and front seat belt pretensioners — if equipped, as required, depending on the severity and type of impact.
• Page 64 in the ACC position, or not in the ignition, the airbag system is not on and the airbags will not inflate. The ORC contains a backup power supply system that may deploy the airbags even if the battery loses power or it becomes disconnected prior to deployment.

• Page 73 72 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE Infants and Child Restraints • Safety experts recommend rearward-facing in the vehicle until they are at least one year old and weigh at least 20 lbs (9 kg). Two types of child restraints can be used rearward-facing, infant carriers and convertible child seats.

If the child cannot sit with knees bent over the vehicle’s seat cushion while the child’s back is against the seatback, they should use a belt-positioning booster seat. • Page 78 LATCH — Child Seat Anchor System (Lower Anchors and Tether for CHildren) Your vehicle’s second row passenger seats are equipped with the child restraint anchor system called LATCH. The LATCH system provides for the installation of the child restraint without using the vehicle’s seat belts, instead securing the child restraint using lower anchors and upper tether straps from the child restraint to the vehicle structure.
• Page 79 78 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE All three second-row passenger seating positions have lower anchors that are capable of accommodating LATCH-compatible child seats. You should NEVER in- stall LATCH-compatible child seats so that two seats share a common lower anchorage. If installing child seats in adjacent seating positions, or if your child restraints are not LATCH-compatible, install the restraints using the vehicle’s seat belts.
• Page 80 Installing the LATCH-Compatible Child Restraint System We urge you to follow the manufacturer’s directions carefully when installing your child restraint. Not all child restraint systems will be installed as described here. Again, carefully follow the installation instructions that are provided with the child restraint system. NOTE: When installing a child restraint, if it interferes with the Head Restraint, recline the seatback slightly to remove the interference.

So my question is why has there not been s9me recall on the dodge journey 2010 electrical issues. About The Dodge Journey

For just over a decade the Dodge Journey was produced by the American automobile manufacturer.

It first launched in 2009 and was discontinued in 2020 with the Durango taking over in the mid-size crossover slot.

Dodge has been moving away from its generic brand image towards being one focusing on performance vehicles over the last decade which is most probably the reason for the discontinuation.

This wasn’t the only car to get taken off sale, the Caravan and Grand Caravan minivans were also taken off in the same year too.

You can find this car on sale in many regions around the world with the Dodge Journey name being used mainly in North American and the Fiat Freemont in the rest of the world.

The major differences between the Journey and Freemont are the availability of engines, in the USA you can find a V6 version but elsewhere the engine options are smaller.

In China, Brazil and Australia you can find both the Freemont and the Journey on sale alongside each other.

2015 saw the end of the Fiat Freemont as the French automaker concentrated on their own in-house developed crossover SUVs.

Underneath the car, you can find a platform that was taken from the Avenger model which was discontinued in 2014 in favor of crossover SUVs like this one.

In 2011 the Journey saw a large facelift that affected both the exterior and the interior – with many mechanical components being upgraded.

Dodge also applied their new logo design to the car and the dashboard was complimented with a Uconnect 3 infotainment system.

2020 also saw an improvement to the car even though it was the last year that it was manufactured.

Trim options were limited to just 2 for the final year on sale and all customers were forced to take the car with 3 rows of seating, an optional feature previously.

Safety ratings for the car have always been generally good, Euro NCAP rated it 5 out of 5 stars in 2011 and NHTSA awarded it 4 out of 5 stars in 2012.

As the title states, I  have a PDF version of the service manual. I own it as I payed for it many years ago. I would like to share it but wonder if some one already post it.

The size is big around 250mb. Very extensive around 5630 pages each in 55 chapters covering all engines and trans.

I've only been around here for about 2 years, but have not seen any manuals posted into the forum here or for that matter none of the other model specific sites I also particpater on. That would be a BIG helpto me seeing I have an '11 and a '14 to now keep up maint./repair on. Electrical /wiring and trans/AWD would be most beneficial for me.. 

 That you are willing to offer is a VERY NICE gesture if such is capable on the forum!

@mojo thank you very much for sharing this with us. Amazing! Love my journey, is my 2nd and If the Model hadn't died for Dodge North America, I wouldn't think of buying a 3rd when required. I would love for them to bring the version that is sold today in its place by Dodge México... I will miss the 2 extra seats in the back, but I would continue with Journeys!

Great resource!  I saw that there is a chapter (20) on the standard transmission.  Was that available in cars destined to stay in Mexico?  Where else?  (I still distrust automatics.)

The Mexican Journey is the Chinese Trumpchi with a Dodge Badge on the grill. It may be a fine car but it’s a much different car. To me the old Journey was right sized. Roomy, good sight line without being too tall, big doors, long wheelbase. Good while it lasted.

Thank you Mojo! Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the catalytic converter on bank 1 (fire wall) for a 2014 dodge journey SXT 3.6L AWD? I did get the bolts off and detached the catalytic converter from the motor and the exhaust but I couldn't seem to remove it. The catalytic converter seems to hit the front right drive shaft and the cross under pipe. I'm hoping that If I remove the cross under pipe that I'll have enough space to pull the catalytic converter out from the bottom. Anybody have any suggestions?

Enjoyed the chapters in this service manual however I have not been able to find the page other then where: "the headliner is dropped to the seats"  in a step by step process 23- Body/Interior HEADLINER-removal/

Typing "Headliner" I get over 200 pages to check

I'm asking,  are both sun shields, four ceiling hand grips, plastic covers at A pillars, . . . ,headliner console, DVD screen console, headliner  vents removal  seems alot to remove to replace four sunroof drain tubes that I suspect are either frozen with water/dirt and plugged and back up water into Map light console.

:Drop down the headliner as necessary to gain access to the drain hoses (Refer to 23 - Body/Interior/HEADLINER - Removal) . 1.  2. Disconnect the front hoses (2) from the sunroof assembly (1). 3. Release the support clips (3) and disconnect the lower grommet and remove the hose. Disconnect the rear hoses (2) from the sunroof assembly (1) and release the support clips (3). 4.  5. Separate the remaining support clips (1). 6. Disconnect the grommet (2) from the body (3) and remove the rear hoses as necessary.

Found Headliner removal location in service manual provided.(page 1526)

How do you go about removing the plastic trim pieces so I do not damage them.

DVD player was not mentioned in removal or installation process

I’m pretty sure no one removes their car  interior to unplug sunroof track drain vents. Look at this clip most of them are similar set up.

It would be like removing your engine to change spark plugs. Get a hair dryer to unfreeze the crap plugging up the lines, or work in a heated garage if needed. Piece of whipper sniper line and maybe compressed air if really bad, use low pressure if possible.

What about a 3.5 liter engine in a 2009 journey?

1. Jaguar E-Type

Few would argue with Enzo Ferrari’s declaration that this is the “most beautiful car ever made.” As such, it’s only right to start our list off with this stunning example of what Jaguar was capable of back in the day. Full of swinging sixties chic and faster than a Ferrari at a third of the price, the Jaguar E-Type was the ultimate sports car of its time and the ultimate in vintage cars today. 

Thanks to consistent internal revisions that didn’t affect its elegant outer appearance, Jaguar managed to keep the E-Type in production until the mid-seventies. This tactic ensured that it moved with the times in terms of performance while still looking as sleek and stylish as ever. In fact, it brakes much better than many cars from the same era and retains plenty of vigor. 

2. Porsche 911

Back in 1963, Porsche unveiled its successor to the famous 356, the 911. This powerful, more spacious evolution was meant to be called the ‘901’. Yet, with Peugeot holding the rights to three-digit car names featuring a zero in the middle, Porsche settled on calling it the 911, and the rest was history. 

The earliest 911 started life with a 2.0 engine and was air-cooled and rear-mounted. And, although the 130 bhp seems paltry in comparison to today’s 911 turbos with their 500+ bhp, the 911 had almost 50 percent more power than the 356.

More power came in the 1970s, with the Carrera RS now seen by many experts as the ultimate 911. Porsche then ceased production of the original 911 back in 1989, but this model is still in high demand due to its vintage 1960s frame, sleek design, high-quality  Porsche classic parts , and excellent reliability rating. 

3. Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500

Made from 1965 to 1973, there’s no doubt that this first-generation Mustang was the “it” car of its time, and a must-have vintage car that still embodies the same cool that it exuded back then.

Ford made the first model available as a coupe or convertible, with the Mustang soon hailed as a marvel of a design. It grew more powerful over the years and sold millions of units, although it was the 1967 Shelby GT500 that really cemented the Mustang reputation thanks to its huge grille, triple tail lamps, and 428 in³ V-8 engine that could reach a whopping 355 bhp.

4. Mercedes 300SL Gullwing 

If ever you needed proof that they don’t make old vintage cars like they used to, one glimpse of the 300SL’s wing-style doors should do it. Although, if Mercedes had had their way, its 300SL race car would have never gone into production. It was only due to the tireless campaigning of Maxi Hoffman, the official American importer of Mercedes-Benz, that Mercedes changed their mind. 

Launched in 1954 at the New York International Motor Show, the Gullwing drew much acclaim from the admiring crowds, thanks to its innovative appearance and sleek design. But the Gullwing was far more than a pretty car. Mercedes designed it with a racing heritage, building up the flat, graceful body over a space frame chassis. It also boasted impressive aerodynamics ready to slice through the air and a powerful 215 bhp – a first for a fuel-injected engine from Mercedes.

5.  Ferrari 250 GTO  

While the original $18,000 price tag of the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO was far from cheap, it’s nothing compared to the $48.4 million that a keen buyer paid for one in 2018. But, with only 36 ever made , it’s no wonder that this car is sought after enough to hold the record for the most expensive car sold at auction.

Record-breaking prices aside, this Ferrari is an obvious choice for any ultimate list of vintage cars thanks to its striking appearance. But the distinctive design was born of necessity – keeping it low to the ground and placing the engine lower and further back meant optimal aerodynamic efficiency. The exhaust pipes and integrated rear spoiler make for an intimidating view from behind, while the front grille is both aesthetically pleasing and purposeful, offering form and function as only this awe-inspiring Ferrari could.  

6.  Aston Martin DB5

As James Bond’s car of choice, it’s no wonder that this is one of the most sought-after vintage car rental models for events and special occasions. 

Packed with quintessential British charm, the DB5 was the last evolution of the DB4 series, made famous by its starring role in more 007 movies than any other car. Although the DB5 could reach speeds of up to 145 mph, the model’s 4.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine meant that it was far from a definitive sports car. Instead, it was more of a luxury ride, with wool pile carpets and electric windows as standard. 

These touches, combined with a failsafe combination of British engineering and Italian styling, are sure to leave you shaken  and  stirred if you’re ever lucky enough to get your hands on one. 

7. Ford Thunderbird

Built as an ode to the American beauty and with driver comfort in mind rather than speed, Ford described the Thunderbird as a “personal car of distinction.” This 1955 two – seat convertible referred back to the Ford heritage models of the 1930s and featured a 4.8-liter V8 engine. And, while it was not a direct competitor to any other sports cars being made at the time, the Ford Thunderbird stood out for its style and comfort. 

8.  Citroen DS  

Full of French flair and hailed for its design worthy of a science fiction movie, the DS was Citroen’s long-awaited successor to the Traction Avant. And it didn’t disappoint. Once again, Citroen was way ahead of its time thanks to the DS model’s futuristic styling and minimal interior. 

Quirky extras and concepts set the DS apart from the start. The doors didn’t feature window frames, and the rear brake lights wet set higher to line up with the eyes of following motorists. Slim pillars offered great visibility for the DS driver, while this vintage car’s hydraulic independent suspension gave comfort like never before.

What’s more, the DS was an instant hit. Citroen took over 12,000 orders from eager customers on the first day of its unveiling at the 1955 Paris Motor Show. 

9. Toyota 2000GT

Another limited-addition vintage car full of exclusive appeal is the Toyota 2000GT, the result of a Toyota and Yamaha collaboration. Stunning and rare, this stylish front-engine rear-wheel-drive two-seater became known as Japan’s first supercar after first going on display at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1965. 

This beauty also has more than its fair share of Bond credentials, appearing in the 1967 movie,  You Only Live Twice.  And, although Aki, the Japanese secret service agent drove it more than 007 himself, Toyota modified the car in question from a coupe to a roadster to allow for Sean Connery’s height. And, while Daniel Craig admits that the Aston Martin DB5 is an exquisite vehicle, he chose the Toyota 2000GT as his favorite Bond car of all time.
