Located in New Orleans Square in Disneyland, Club 33 is both an architectural masterpiece and an amazing dining experience.

There are two separate dining rooms for you to explore within the main quarters, as well as multiple connecting areas within the building.

There is a magnificent display of timeless antiques and galleries of original canvas art pressed up against the walls as well.

Of course, scattered around Club 33 are sketches from Walt Disney artists, and original prop pieces like the Oak Telephone Booth that was used in the movie “The Happiest Millionaire”.

If you venture over to the “Trophy Room”, you will find a more casual atmosphere with Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise vibes.

Spoiler alert, don’t be surprised when the chandeliers start talking to you!

Club 33 truly shows both the quirky and comical side of Walt Disney’s character, but juxtaposes it with the more poetic and luxurious aspects of his lineage.

This Italian Steakhouse has everything from Tuna Tartare to Osso Buco Milanese available on its menu and is a perfect place to celebrate your next anniversary or personal growth milestone.

To go along with the exquisite delicacies is a low-lit outdoor seating area with amazing landscaping and biophilic decor.

Seascape is a facility meant to tire out your children so you can peacefully explore the rest of Anaheim.

Reminiscent of a larger Check-E-Cheese, Seascape has a lot of play areas for your little ones to enjoy.

There are ball pits and pizza pies for everyone, and the only downside is that you may be too big to have fun as well!

But watching the children in your group jump around the bouncy house or slide down the huge tunnels over and over again is worth every second.

Before you venture over to Seascape, however, don’t forget to wear socks, as they are required to enter the play areas, and please have everyone who is participating dressed in pants.

What first opened up as Los Coyotes Regional park in 1981, the Ralph B. Clark Regional Park was renamed in 1987 after retiring Orange County Supervisor Ralph B. Clark.

For all the would-be pilots out there and all those "Top Gun" fans, the Flightdeck Flight Simulation Center is for you. Here, you can pretend you're taking off, dogfighting, and completing death-defying aerial maneuvers in fighter jet and Boeing 737 flight simulators that make it feel real. 

And in case you were wondering, recent visitors said it's nothing like a computer game. Reviewers said the graphics and sound in the simulator made them feel as if they were actually flying. You also have the option to change into a flight suit, which past travelers said only enhanced the experience. Visitors also praised the staff and instructors for their clear and informative presentation. The minimum age to participate is 11, so if your tweens or teens grow tired of Disneyland , consider making a stop here.

Adventure City Adventure City

If you're on a budget and you've got young children in tow, you should consider a trip to Adventure City, according to recent visitors. Many reviewers said this small theme park is a less stressful and less expensive alternative to the pricey, crowded entertainment mecca of Disneyland . But keep in mind that this park is geared toward younger kids (most travelers said children between the ages of 2 and 10 will enjoy what Adventure City has to offer). The park does boast two roller coasters, but the focus here is less on thrilling rides and more on engaging pint-sized visitors with interactive attractions, such as the Thomas Tank Engine attraction where kids help one another build train layouts.

And because of Adventure City's manageable size, you can likely spend just one day here, versus the several you'll need to set aside for a trip to Disneyland. However, reviewers caution that preteens probably won't enjoy Adventure City as much as younger children. 

Yorba Regional Park Yorba Regional Park

Approximately 10 miles east of downtown Anaheim in the mouth of Santa Ana Canyon, Yorba Regional Park is an oasis of green in a city heavily blanketed in concrete. Among its four lakes and connecting streams, biking and jogging paths, and equestrian trails, there are more than 400 picnic tables, along with barbecue grills and restrooms, making it the ideal place to take a family tuckered out by all the crowds at Disneyland . There's also a bicycle rental shop at the park ( Wheel Fun Rentals ), which rents out a variety of bikes, kayaks and pedal boats. Consider renting a bike if you want to ride the 20-mile-long Santa Ana River Trail, which eventually leads to the Pacific Ocean.

Recent visitors loved their time at Yorba Regional Park and strongly recommended travelers make time to stop by. Reviewers described the park as a city oasis and say it offers a wonderful place to relax.

If you're sick of Disney – or just want try out some big roller coasters – you should check out nearby Buena Park's Knott's Berry Farm, a popular theme park that features some thrilling attractions. The park contains the quaintness of a Wild West reconstruction with some of the attractions of a multimillion-dollar theme park. It also boasts a log ride, a Wild West stunt show, a boardwalk-themed area and a playground area called Camp Snoopy that is geared toward young children. Highly recommended thrill rides include the HangTime dive coaster and the super-fast Xcelerator The Ride roller coaster. If you're visiting during the summer and need a break from the heat, consider purchasing tickets to the water park, Knott's Soak City, which is open from mid-May through early September.

While Knott's Berry Farm offers a different experience (and a cheaper price tag) to the Disneyland attractions, many past visitors noted that, unlike Disney, the staff and amenities were not always up to par. If you plan on drinking more than one fountain drink, consider purchasing the park's souvenir bottle, which costs $12.99 and grants free refills throughout your visit. Travelers also suggested downloading the Knott's Berry Farm smartphone app, which includes an interactive map of the park showing the fastest routes between rides and wait times for select rides, among other features.

5. Anaheim City National Grove

9. Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln

Another venue where you may bring your family and enjoy the learning experience from a Disney perspective is Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln .

The stage presentation featuring an audio-animatronic depiction of President Abraham Lincoln has been shown in some form at Disneyland for more than fifty years.

It was intended to be part of a presentation that would showcase all the country’s prior presidents, but it never materialized until much later.

Instead, a monument to President Lincoln was erected, which became the centerpiece of a theatrical production.

The `President` is introduced by cartoonish trumpets and “America the Beautiful,” with glimpses of the initial travel and European journey to the United States.

Finally, the stage play switches to Abraham Lincoln, narrating a story that has historical references dating back to 1809.

As time has passed, the play has evolved and now focuses on the Walt Disney tale. As well as historical events involving Walt Disney’s childhood hero, Abraham Lincoln.

Even if there are no children present, Abraham Lincoln’s story is valuable and intellectually sound enough to appeal to an older audience.

Regardless of how you feel about the United States’ colonization, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is a fascinating look at one of the country’s greatest figures.

10. Ralph B. Clark Regional Park

Ralph B. Clark Regional Park is located just outside Anaheim. It is a fantastic location for individuals who enjoy the outdoors and the fresh air.

The Park opened in 1981 as Los Coyotes Regional Park. It was renamed in 1987 after retiring Orange County Supervisor Ralph B. Clark.

The park offers a variety of activities for you and your family to enjoy.

Six softball fields, as well as a variety of other amenities, are available for use.

In addition, cycling, fishing, hiking, boating, stopping for a picnic or BBQ, and many other activities are also available.

It is one of the most gorgeous spots to see in Anaheim and another free activity.

11. Club 33

Club 33 is a private members-only club in the middle of New Orleans Square at Disneyland.

You enter the club by hitting a doorbell hidden behind a panel, then taking a glass elevator ride.

Club 33, located in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square, is both an architectural marvel and a fantastic dining experience.

You can dine at the private club while also getting special treatment at the theme park.

In order to become a member of the club, which has a fourteen-year waiting list, you’ll have to be patient.

Within the main quarters, you’ll find two unique dining rooms as well as several connected areas.

There are also galleries of unique canvas art pressed up against the walls, as well as a stunning display of ageless antiquities.

Of course, there are sketches by Walt Disney artists and real prop pieces like the Oak Telephone Booth from the film “The Happiest Millionaire” strewn about Club 33.

If you go to the “Trophy Room,” you’ll find a more relaxed ambiance with the Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise influences.

Club 33 captures both the quirky and comical aspects of Walt Disney’s persona, while also emphasizing the more poetic and opulent aspects of his lineage.

12. Yorba Regional Park, Anaheim

Yorba Regional Park is a 140-acre park near the mouth of the Santa Ana Canyon. It wonderfully catches the Santa Ana River that runs alongside it.

Within the park, there are over 400 picnic tables, many of which are shaded, providing for a relaxing lunch with family and friends.

One of the park’s highlights are the four lakes and streams that run through it, providing several fishing opportunities.

Picnic tables and paved paths abound, as they do in most National or Regional parks, allowing you to connect with nature.

If you want to spend the night at the park, you can reserve a shelter in advance. The shelters are also large enough to accommodate parties.

One of the great things to do in Anaheim is to visit the long-standing establishment known as Camelot Golfland.

It is the largest miniature golf course facility in the country.

A castle-themed course and a jungle or safari-themed course are two excellent options for you to attempt.

The courses are well-kept, and the staff is polite and accommodating.

You and your friends will adore the mini-golf courses (which are pretty hard), as well as the Camelot Castle, where you can have an arcade experience thereafter.

After you’re done playing golf, you can go to the 5000-square-foot laser tag arena and try to shoot your opponents away. There are a lot of things to do all over the place, and people of all ages will be able to enjoy them.

Whilst you finish your four-course lunch, you will be entertained by swordplay, pageantry, and horseback.

There is a genuine jousting event that takes place utilizing six knights of the realm.

Everyone stays in character the entire time, giving you a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Dinner is served while the show is being viewed, and dinner, including the entertainment here, is also fantastic!.

They have a limited number of dining and sitting options. You can go about before the spectacle and buy trinkets from the many shops, have a drink or two from the bars, view the horses, and possibly meet the royal family!

Medieval Times is based on a Bronze Age battle arena. It assigns you to a specific color of mercenary, allowing you to participate in jousting and tough competitions.

The tournament-style experience is also complemented by goblets and rustic cutlery to enhance the whole presentation. However, the Medieval Times has long been known as a pleasant and lighthearted experience for participants.

All these actions take place in the castle’s auditorium, which has room for 1,100 people.

Equally important, parking is $6 so make sure you account for that when arriving. Their parking lot is also a decent size.

They’re also located directly next to the freeway, so it will be quite loud with all the traffic on the other side of the lot. Not too big of a deal, though.

Admission cost is $20/per adult and $15 per child. And it is actually priced fairly for the number of exhibits and activities they have for children.

34. Oak Canyon Nature Center

The Anaheim Hills’ Oak Canyon Nature Center is 58 acres in size and is located in the Anaheim Hills.

The Center takes its name from the area’s canyon views and oak woods.

There are three canyons on the land, as well as four miles of hiking paths for your roaming feet.

This is a lovely area to visit if you want to reconnect with nature and enjoy the great outdoors.

The park is divided into three canyons by a stream that runs through it.

There is also a four-mile hiking track for people who enjoy getting out in nature, and there are plenty of native species to observe.

The Oak Canyon Nature Center also has two golf courses, a picnic pavilion, field lodgings, as well as kids’ facilities with entertaining indoor and outdoor activities.

In addition, the John J. Collier Interpretive Center is located on the property. It is a small museum with a variety of live animals and natural history exhibits.

The ARTIC, however, gets a top 10 rating for Instagrammers and Tik-Tokers visiting Anaheim. This is because of its superbly built building, polychromatic LED lighting, and perfect views.

California, in general, is exceptional in its ability to combine art with purpose, especially when it pertains to the design and quality of its structures.

However, both at night and early in the morning, you will be astounded by the sheer size and disposition of the ARTIC.

While there isn’t much in the way of actual entertainment, it is one of the best free Anaheim attractions.

In Orange County, there are no excuses for not spending time outside! Beautiful weather year-round, scenic rooftops with views for days and acres of canyon trails make up the California dream. Clear your mind with the beach breeze or amidst a mystical redwood forest—yes, there are redwoods here!

Orange County really has it all when it comes to impressive scenery. From cityscapes at sky-high cocktail bars to ocean views atop beachside bluffs, we’ve rounded up the most picturesque places both on and off the beaten path. Cut down on your screen time and soak it all in at these 14 scenic places in Orange County.

There is no view more magical than the ones at Disney California Adventure® Park in Anaheim . Perched along a whimsical waterfront boardwalk, Pixar Pier boasts views of the fountain-filled lake, iconic Ferris wheel and, of course, the Incredicoaster. For a bird’s-eye view, load into a Ferris wheel carriage and ride all the way to the top for panoramic park views. Lamplight Lounge is best for cocktails, and golden hour is definitely the best time to visit this scenic spot in Orange County. Take a deep breath from a busy day at the park to enjoy people-watching amidst the magic.

Weir Canyon Trail

Anaheim may be best known for Disneyland® Park and the Anaheim Packing District , but this Orange County city is also home to some of the most scenic hiking trails. Weir Canyon is a 3.7-mile loop that’s popular among adventure-seekers for bird-watching and hiking. The trail is moderate in terms of difficulty and takes about an hour and a half to traverse. There is not a building or rollercoaster in sight—just miles of rolling Anaheim Hills! We love this trail for scenic solitude away from the city’s hustle and bustle. Pro tip: The canyon is sunny, so stay hydrated and don’t forget a hat and sunscreen.

RISE Rooftop Lounge and The FIFTH Rooftop Restaurant & Bar

Cityscapes are one thing, but add fireworks—now that’s a view! RISE Rooftop Lounge is located on top of The Westin Anaheim Resort with a direct view of Disneyland® Park’s magical fireworks display that shoots off at 9 p.m. Cozy up in one of the fire-lit lounges, order a round of bourbon-infused Ruby Sunset cocktails, and sip back and relax for the show. The fireworks are also visible from The FIFTH Rooftop Restaurant & Bar , which sits atop the Grand Legacy At The Park . We also love the theme nights here, so be sure to come grab a $16 cocktail on Tiki Tuesdays and Whiskey Wednesdays for a midweek pick-me-up. 

Christ Cathedral  

The wild card on our list is Christ Cathedra l. This architectural titan has nothing to do with nature, but it no doubt deserves an honorary mention for its beauty in design and magnificent height. Standing 120 feet tall and constructed entirely of glass, this operating church is a trailblazer for modern architecture. By day, the city is reflected in the cathedral’s mirrored exterior; by night, a 90-foot neon cross lights up the church. On the top floor of the cathedral is the “Chapel in the Sky,” with 360-degree views of Orange County.

Community Center Park

Community Center Park is a neighborhood hub designed for large family outings and field days. Stretches of lawn space are perfect for playtime, and a focal duck pond makes for a peaceful picnic spot in the afternoon. Statues dot the park: one is of giant Adirondack chairs in bright orange and yellow, and another is of ancient heroes carved in stone. Enjoy the space while it stands! A revitalization project for Garden Grove was approved in March, including plans for a parking structure to be built over Community Center Park. 

Anaheim Coves

The Anaheim Coves are a relatively new addition to Orange County’s collection of nature parks. This 26-acre enclave was created and completed less than five years ago and offers over two miles of multi-use trails along the Santa Ana River. The coves are brimming with wildlife, and educational markers along the trail help visitors spot local species. Kids love the nature play area, which is to the left of the parking lot by Lincoln Avenue. Once you find it, the playground is filled with fossils and a boulder climbing net, but the highlight is definitely the zipline. 

Redwood Grove in Carbon Canyon Regional Park

Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to drive up north to see California’s iconic redwoods. Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea is home to Orange County’s only coastal redwood forest, which is accessible by multiple trails. While challenging, Prospect Trail is a favorite. The path starts like a typical hike, with a tree-shaded path and picket fence border. As the path progresses, hikers find themselves in a dreamy redwood grove. Hills make the hike a good workout, but the redwood views are worth the trek!

Inspiration Point

Boasting clifftop views of Corona del Mar, Inspiration Point is breathtaking at any time of day—however, sunset is truly spectacular. Pink and orange hues paint the sky, and dolphins are often spotted along the coastline. Views are backed by million-dollar homes, and there are plenty of grassy spots for a picnic overlooking Pirate’s Cove. It’s a popular spot, so come early to stake your claim! For an up-close view, take the stairs down to the sand to watch the sunset from the beach. 

Local Insight: Grab a sandwich from Gallo’s Italian Deli before heading to Inspiration Point for a picnic!

Hive & Honey Rooftop Bar  

Uh-huh, honey! Hive & Honey Rooftop Bar is the night-out spot in Irvine for sky-high views and boozy libations. This chic lounge is situated on top of the Marriott and boasts spectacular sunset views of Orange County. The atmosphere is upscale, and the vibes are as high as the altitude. If you’re a vodka person, Nectar of the Gods is a must-try with Tito’s vodka, Aperol, lemon juice and peach syrup. Hive & Honey also serves light bites, so head here on your next night out to see what the buzz is about!

Heisler Park

For views that just won’t quit, lace up your sneakers and take a stroll through Heisler Park. This stunning park in Laguna Beach sits just north of downtown and winds along the bluffs of Cliff Drive from Aster Street to Diver’s Cove. The water below is electric blue, and there are tons of coves and tide pools to check out, whether during a morning coffee walk or a romantic sunset stroll. Visitors can also enjoy walking trails, gardens, picnic tables and barbecues. Start at the north end of the park and end at the gazebo for panoramic views of downtown and Main Beach.

Arboretum and Botanical Garden

Hidden on the campus of Cal State Fullerton sits a 26-acre botanical garden with scenery perfect for an Orange County picnic. This abundant oasis is located on the northeast corner of the college’s grounds and is filled with foliage from across the globe. Along with flora and fauna native to SoCal, the Arboretum is home to a world-class collection of sustainable habitats. To really make the most of your time here, take advantage of the garden’s volunteer opportunities for locals. You can hone in on culinary skills, learn how to compost and even plant your own bonsai to take home. Visit any day of the week with a $5 donation per visit.

Crystal Cove State Park

A tale as old as time and an OC treasure, Crystal Cove State Park has been a beloved seaside destination since the 1950s. This protected stretch of shoreline in Newport Beach features scenic rural spaces, 3.2 miles of sandy beaches, rolling waves and tidepools. It doesn’t matter if you’re hiking the backcountry trails or sunbathing on the sandy shores—the views are always stunning. You can even experience it all by staying the night in one of the park’s restored beach cottages, available to rent on the state park website .

Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve

Newport Beach truly has it all—even wetlands! Known by locals as the “Back Bay,” the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve is an ecological area that’s home to more than 1,000 acres of open space. The entire preserve is boarded by a bayside trail that’s perfect for hot girl walks, run clubs and scenic bike rides. It also happens to be one of the best bird-watching sites in North America. During winter migrations, up to 35,000 birds can be spotted at once, but you’ll also want to keep your eye out for endangered species like Light Footed Clapper Rails, Brown Pelicans, Peregrine Falcons and more.

Orange Hill Restaurant  

Orange locals know it well, but even people who have lived in Orange County their whole life will be wowed by the cascading views at this clifftop restaurant. From a patio table, views stretch from Catalina Island to downtown Los Angeles, but you can also keep cozy inside the dining room, which features huge windows. This spot is best for sunset dinner dates, but the restaurant also functions as an event space for celebrations. Enjoy a backdrop of rolling hills as day turns to night and the city lights begin to glow. P.S. Don’t miss happy hour from 4-6 p.m. on weekdays!

35 Amazing Things To Do in Anaheim Beyond Disneyland

When most people think of Anaheim, there is one attraction that comes to mind; Disneyland . This may come as a surprise, but there is WAY more to Anaheim being a top family vacation destination than just a theme park!

We spend a lot of time in this area as a family and have uncovered some incredible activities. That being said, I am so excited to share over 35 of our favorite things to do in Anaheim beyond Disneyland below!

35 Amazing Things To Do in Anaheim

We love Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park even more than most, but the truth is Anaheim has SO MUCH MORE to offer traveling families coming in from both near and far. Here are 35 alternative family-friendly things to do in Anaheim!

1. Lessons at Vans Skatepark- Our Kiddos Favorite Thing To Do in Anaheim!

One of our kids’ favorite things to do in Anaheim is the Vans Skatepark. This massive 20,000+ square foot skatepark is a skater’s paradise.

My kids were complete beginners, but thanks to their incredible instructor Devon they had a blast! You can book private lessons on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with a Vans-certified skate instructor for $50 an hour.

My kids weren’t quite ready for the craziness but they did enjoy sliding down it on their bums!

The Vans Skatepark is located in The Outlets at Orange. You can take private lessons like we did, rent equipment, or enjoy an open skate.

2. SwingIt Trapeze Lessons

You have to experience SwingIt Trapeze ! I was completely shocked that our whole family was able to fly. The staff is incredible and will guide you step by step so that you feel completely comfortable. Check out the current class schedule here!

Trapeze wasn’t easy but the instructors are so skilled at helping you learn! Ella also enjoyed the sideshow tricks while she was waiting for her turn.

3 & 4. Catch an Angels Baseball Game or a Ducks Hockey Game

Instead of riding the roller coaster over at Disney California Adventure, why not head to a baseball game? And.. what trip would be complete without a trip to Angels Stadium of Anaheim?

Anaheim is home to the Angels and luckily the Angels Stadium is a fantastic place for families.

Sundays are family days so there are extra games and fun for the kiddos with face painting and games located in the Gate 5 Courtyard.

You can also head across the street to the Honda Center and check out the National Hockey League and see the Anaheim Ducks. If hockey isn’t your thing, the Honda Center also holds concerts throughout the year!

5. Find Instagram-Worthy Food at  the Anaheim Packing District

The Anaheim Packing House was once the Sunkist Packing House. It was built in 1919, but got a whole new look a few years ago and is now a foodie hall full of amazing artisan eateries.

You absolutely cannot visit Anaheim and not visit the Anaheim Packing District. There is always something new to discover and it is oh so tasty. Just make sure you arrive hungry!

You will want to add the Anaheim Packing House as one of your favorite things to do in Anaheim, based on the atmosphere and decor alone!

I recommend trying the K2 Cro-Nut from Pandor . Just be sure you have someone to share it with.

A Rainbow Cloud from Mini Monster is also one of our favorites. It’s a Thai Tea with boba topped with freshly spun cotton candy and fruity pebbles. You can keep sustainability in mind and buy the reusable jar, too!

You will also find the Instagram sensation known as Pop Bar at the Packing House. They serve gelato on a stick dipped in your favorite chocolate and rolled in the topping of your choice.

Take a look at all the natural light flowing in, the succulent plants, and swings… it’s so beautiful!!!

If you are in the mood for a meal I suggest checking out the artisan tacos at Urbana …

or a fresh plate of Tikka Masala from Adya . The warm fresh naan is to die for!

6. Fly a Fighter Jet at Flightdeck for a Totally Unique Thing To Do in Anaheim

Flightdeck is amazing! You get to take a flight course, jump in a suit like Maverick & Goose and dog flight inside simulator pods in front of a giant screen.

My boys LOVED competing against each other. My middle son, Owen, who loves video games said this was his favorite activity all summer long. Pretty high praise if you ask me!

7. Check Out Center Street – One of the Coolest Things To Do in Anaheim!

One of the coolest things to do in Anaheim is to head to Center St. Promenade. Center St. Promenade brings together all the best of Anaheim.

This is where you will find the farmer’s market, seasonal art shows, and street fairs. Make sure you save room for Pour Vida . Their tacos and fresh-pressed juices are divine.

If you are over at the Packing House you can hop on “Polly the Trolley “ noon to 9 PM Friday-Sunday. It’s a free ride from the Packing House to Center St. Promenade and back. It leaves every 15 minutes!

8. Take the Family to Medieval Times

You can’t miss the long-time family favorite, Medieval Times ! I will admit, we had not been to Medieval Times in ages so I was shocked by how much the kids still loved the show and dinner.

The place was PACKED! The kids loved eating without silverware. I ordered their vegetarian meal, which was also delicious.

The knights are fun to watch, but what I really love is watching all of the magnificent horses. They brought out some who were literally dancing to the music. It was so beautiful to see.

No trip to Medieval Times is complete without a quick stop at the gift shop. They sell costumes and toy weapons so your kids can recreate their favorite sequences back at the hotel.

Just make sure to set some ground rules before they dive in. No heavy swings, kids! Keep it playful and light! You are going to definitely want to add Medieval Times as one of the things to do in Anaheim list! Grab discounted tickets here!

9. Grab Lunch at Dave & Buster’s & Hang Out at the Arcade

Another find in The Outlets at Orange is Dave & Buster’s . We had a delicious lunch here with the kids. They have a huge menu so there is something for everyone!

Of course… it’s not the food the kids cared about but the MASSIVE arcade. Our kids played for a good hour and a half before we could pry them off the machines. They had a blast!!

And, once they were done they got to go to the most incredible ticket redemption store I had ever seen. Ella could hardly believe she had enough tickets to buy the adorable stuffed raccoon below!

10. The Anaheim Brewery- A Stop Moms & Dads will LOVE

I know breweries are not really for the kids, but this one was too good not to mention. Anaheim Brewery is a revived prohibition brewery. Even though this stop is for the grown-ups, you can sandwich it with fun activities for the kids.

All beer is made right there on site. The founders Barbara and Greg are so passionate about brewing beer and it shows! The beers are light, airy and absolutely delicious.

11. Find Hands-On Fun at the Discovery Cube and Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center

Last but certainly not least, Anaheim offers a variety of museums and cultural centers to make learning fun for the little ones.

The Discovery Cube in Orange County is another fantastic stop! They have a ton of hands-on educational activities that will entertain your little ones for a full afternoon.

My bigger kids love checking out the Science of Hockey area and the Inspector Training course. If you live in SoCal their family annual pass is a really affordable way to keep the fun going all year long.

If you’re hungry for more cool exhibits and learning activities, the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center is a short distance from Disneyland and has a lot to offer.

Muzeo offers educational exhibits that dive into the history of Anaheim, including Disney history, as well as rotating features from local artists.

For younger children, this might be a certified snoozefest. For older children with an interest in history or art, however, it’s an inexpensive way to change the pace for an hour or two before getting out and about in Anaheim again.

Plus, it has air conditioning. Thank goodness!

12. Round 1 Bowling & Amusement

Bowling is one of our favorite things to do in Anaheim. The newest addition to Anaheim Attractions is Round 1 Bowling and Amusement. Technically it is in the neighboring city of Santa Ana, but it’s just a couple miles away. You can check it out here!

13. Fullerton Arboretum – FREE!

Right next to Anaheim is the Fullerton Arboretum . There you will find 240 lush acres to enjoy with the family and get a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a great place to enjoy nature and take some amazing pictures while enjoying some respite from the bright lights and attractions of Disney and Anaheim.

We love to visit between busy days sightseeing or visiting Disneyland. It’s a beautiful place to enjoy a much needed change of pace.

14. Visit Huntington Beach – FREE!

While most folks flock to Anaheim for the sights in the city and Disneyland, California remains one of the best states for going to the beach.

The coastline is vast, and the Pacific offers some of the best conditions for surfing you can find anywhere in the intercontinental United States.

Huntington Beach is the closest beach to Anaheim and a quick drive. It is one of the most iconic beaches in Southern California. Enjoy watching some amazing surfers, dine and shop on main st. and of course enjoy the beach.

15. Jump around at the Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park 

Looking for more ways to let the kids burn off some energy?

Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park is a great spot to bring them for endless fun jumping on the many, many trampolines.

Slam dunk in the Slam Zone or soar into a soft, foam pit in the Drop Zone. Pit your kids against each other on the Battle Beam– winner picks where we eat dessert tonight. No matter who wins, you get dessert!

It’s a lot of rough and tumble fun, but they do have a dedicated Toddler Zone too for the real little munchkins to run and play without a bigger kid landing on them. 

And they have benches and air-conditioning for Mommy and Daddy to rest their tired feet. What more could you need?

16. See a Show at the House of Blues

House of Blues Anaheim is a premier venue for live music and entertainment. It’s not just a concert hall but a cultural experience, featuring a diverse array of musical genres and performances.

The venue is known for its unique atmosphere, combining Southern-inspired cuisine with an eclectic mix of music, from rock and hip-hop to country and blues.

Many of the shows are 18+ or 21+, but there are specific all-ages events that the whole family can attend!

17. Visit the Hass Avocado Mother Tree in La Habra 

Looking for something unique to do? The Hass Avocado Mother Tree in La Habra is where it all started for Hass avocados in the United States. It’s a historic and educational spot that tells the story of how a single tree revolutionized the avocado industry.

During your visit, you will learn about the history of this popular fruit and its impact on California’s agriculture. It’s an offbeat yet fascinating attraction!

18. Shop at Anaheim GardenWalk 

Located in the heart of Anaheim, the GardenWalk is an outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex. It offers a range of retail stores, from well-known brands to unique boutiques, alongside a variety of dining options like Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Chang’s.

19. Explore Ralph B. Clark Regional Park 

This regional park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and families. Ralph B. Clark Regional Park offers a mix of natural beauty and recreational facilities, including hiking trails that wind through picturesque landscapes, an interpretive center featuring local fossils, and ample space for picnics and sports.

20. Spend Some Time in Yorba Regional Park

At Yorba Regional Park, you will find scenic biking and walking paths, fishing opportunities, playgrounds, and picnic areas. It’s a great spot for a family day out or a peaceful retreat in nature. 21. Visit Thursday Downtown Anaheim Certified Farmers Market

The Downtown Anaheim Certified Farmers Market is a vibrant local marketplace that operates every Thursday. It’s a place where visitors can immerse themselves in the local culture by exploring a wide range of fresh produce, artisanal goods, and homemade treats. Oftentimes, there is also live music!

22. Walk Around and Dine in Downtown Disney 

Downtown Disney District offers a magical experience with its unique blend of shopping, dining, and entertainment. It’s a lively promenade where visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll, explore diverse shops, or dine at various restaurants that range from casual to fine dining.

Don’t forget to grab a scoop of icecream at Salt&Straw, it’s the best!

23. Skate at Anaheim ICE  

Anaheim ICE is a premier ice-skating facility offering a fun and exciting experience for skaters of all levels. Whether you’re looking to learn how to skate, play ice hockey, or just enjoy a public skating session, this rink has it all.

24. Hit Another Amusement Park Knott’s Berry Farm in nearby Buena Vista 

Knott’s Berry Farm is a world-renowned amusement park that offers a wide array of attractions for visitors of all ages. From thrilling roller coasters and exciting rides to live shows and interactive experiences, this park has something for everyone.

If visiting during the fall, make sure to check out Knott’s Scary Farm as well. We visit yearly!

25. Knott’s Soak City (buy discount tickets here!)

From exhilarating water slides and wave pools to the lazy river and children’s play areas, Soak City caters to thrill-seekers and families alike. It’s a perfect spot to cool off and enjoy water-based fun, with options for all ages and thrill levels.

26. See Some Animals at the Santa Ana Zoo

Family-Friendly Accommodations in Anaheim

When exploring Anaheim & Disneyland, there are many amazing Anaheim resorts. It’s true that some of the best options are Walt Disney resorts, located just a few quick minutes from the Disneyland Park.

You can still have a great experience and save some money by picking on some nearby accommodations that offer an all-around amazing experience while still staying close to the park.

The Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance Hotel is a newer hotel with an on-site water park called Surfside, a beautiful fitness center, and rooms designed with families in mind. You can even see fireworks from the pool area and some of the rooms.

How to Get Around Anaheim

If you are from the Southern California area, getting around by car in Anaheim is easy. But, how will you get around from one amazing activity to the next if traveling from a distance? I love that Anaheim, unlike a lot of Southern California, has an amazing public transit system!

If you don’t have a car, just hop on the Anaheim Rapid Transit (ART). With just a couple of bucks, you can be anywhere. Check out and pre-purchase discounted ART passes here!

Some really amazing places here! My boys would flip out over the skate park and the flight deck 🙂

The skatepark was SO cool it made me wish I was in the lesson with the kids. Pretty sure I would break my neck but seriously so cool and my husband loved the flightdeck. So fun that there are these awesome resources right in Anaheim.

It gets easier as they get older. Our two year old still gives me a run for my money though. I think the more we travel the more it just becomes who we are. It is part of our lifestyle and the kids routines. It is our normal I suppose and that makes it easier. You should definitely come to the West Coast though with our without kids. I love our side of the states 🙂

I LOVE LOVE to go to all the amusement parks and water parks in So Cal. We are so fortunate to be in SoCal and have access to the Beaches, Mountains, Wineries, we got it all!!

My favorite thing to do besides Disneyland is definitely going to Anaheim Ducks games! The atmosphere is unlike anything else. It is a must do for any sports fan!

I’m not one to really read blogs.

But this one actually served a purpose for me! We have 6 kids and over the years as our family has grown; I am desperate for new and exciting outings.

The Flight Deck is something I have been wanting to take my sons to but had no idea it was possible!

So thank you! This was a perfect family involved post and have tons of options we can take on if we want to treat our older kids to a date day and the leave smaller ones with the sitter. Thanks for this!

15 Best Day Trips from Anaheim

Anaheim, Orange County: the city known for being the location of California’s huge Disneyland Theme Park and the many resorts that go with it.

Once you are done riding roller coasters and doing all things Disney, there is much more to see and do in the surrounding areas.

Anaheim is perfectly located as a great starting point to visit the big Californian cities of Los Angeles and San Diego.

Just a day trip away is the high life of Hollywood or the famous Sea World of San Diego.

Even further south across the Mexican border, it’s possible to visit neighboring Tijuana for a real culture change.

Anaheim is the gateway to the spectacular Southern California coastline; there are beaches and boardwalks to discover and white sands to relax on.

Further away, the deserts of inland California beckon the really adventurous; with epic National Parks such as Joshua Tree State Park just a car ride away, but a whole world away from the city.

Let’s have a look at the best day trips from Anaheim :

1 . Catalina Island

Catalina Island has long been a tourist hot spot, since far back in the late 19th century when holidaymakers first started to travel to this beautiful offshore destination.

Since then, they just keep coming, primarily because it offers a spectacular escape from the mainland.

Just an hour by boat from the beaches near Anaheim, Catalina Island is the destination to visit for marine lovers.

You can snorkel and dive the coral reefs, with an abundance of marine life waiting to be seen in the waters.

If you’d rather stay dry, then there are semi-submersibles and glass-bottom boats travelling around the island to explore the coral too, and of course, there are plenty of sandy beaches to relax on.

2. Newport Beach

Newport Beach should be visited to see the huge waves that form offshore and smash against the coast.

If you are brave and experienced enough, it’s perfect for hardcore surfers, but even for non-surfers, the monumental sight of the powerful ocean at work is remarkable to see.

There are mile upon mile of pristine beaches to enjoy the surf from, and boardwalks lining the beaches provide an incredible setting to stroll along, with restaurants and bars aplenty providing scenic rest stops along the way.

3. Whale Watching

Newport Beach is the place to take a whale watching trip, being one of the few coastal destinations in the world where whales and dolphins can be seen year round.

Tours depart every day of the year, but the season in which you visit will determine which species of whale you are likely to see out in the wild.

Come between summer and autumn to witness the blue whale migration passing through.

These enormous marine mammals are simply humbling to see.

Visit between winter and spring, and you are likely to catch the gray whale migration; an equally unique experience to witness out on the ocean waves of California.

4. Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach is one of many Southern California beaches, and like much of the coast, it’s a favorite with surfers looking to hit the huge waves found here.

Huntington Beach is also the site of the lengthy Huntington Beach Pier, originally built in 1904. It’s long – stretching almost 600 meters out into the water – and a walk along its length will give a great panoramic view of the crashing surf, the surfers riding waves, and long vistas down the entire coastline to the north and south.

You might even spot a few dolphins or even a whale far out at sea if you visit at the right time of day.

In fact, along the California coast there’s a good chance of spotting large marine mammals throughout the whole year.

5. Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach boasts spectacular coastline and even more surfing and swells.

Rugged cliffs stretch far into the distance and land lovers can wander the wild hiking trails rather than jumping into the waves.

The beaches here aren’t long, but rather are framed by cliffs, forming coves and inlets that offer sheltered bays along the shore and that look utterly incredible from above.

Away from the coast, Laguna Beach town also has plenty of art galleries and an emerging cultural scene that’s the perfect place to spend a whole day exploring.

6. Hollywood

No one should visit California and miss a trip to Hollywood; it’s simply iconic.

From Anaheim, tour companies can whisk you away on a day trip to the stars, taking in the movie studios and sets.

You might even get to see filming in action.

Tours can visit the famous and swanky areas where the stars live too, giving you an insight into the high life, before ending the day with a picture of the Hollywood sign high in the hills above LA; the perfect souvenir from a trip to California.

7. Universal Studios

While there are many film studios across LA and Hollywood, the most iconic of them all is Universal Studios.

Part theme park and part movie filming studio, it’s worth spending a whole day exploring the attractions and riding the roller coasters here, at the real original Hollywood studio.

8. San Diego

San Diego is the southernmost point in California, and the second largest city in the state.

It’s where the United States meets Mexico head on, and across the border is the Mexican city of Tijuana.

San Diego has a long Spanish and Mexican history and is where cultures collide in this intriguing city.

It’s right on the coast too, offering beautiful beaches and Californian sunshine to visitors making the journey south from Anaheim.

9. San Diego Zoo

San Diego Zoo dates back to 1916 and ever since its opening has been providing a place for visitors to see animals from across the world.

Thousands of animals are homed here, from all over the world, and it’s a vast place to experience a real wildlife adventure in the heart of San Diego.

10. Tijuana

If you continue travelling far south past San Diego, you hit the Mexican border; beyond that is the city of Tijuana, which is doable in a day trip from Anaheim.

Visitors can simply pop over the border, crossing here for the day before returning to California in the evening.

While it might be seen by some as a wild frontier city, Tijuana is full of bars, restaurants and shops catering to border crossing tourists looking for a bit of Mexican culture.

It is a safe place to enjoy for the day; just remember to bring your passport.

11. Palm Springs

Inland from the coastal scene, and a world away from the theme parks and movie studios, is Palm Springs.

This is where the desert begins, but in this wilderness there are hot springs, golf courses and spas to make desert life that little bit more comfortable.

You can take the aerial tramway at Palm Springs to experience the canyon and see epic views over the desert landscape that stretches for miles.

12. Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park is a huge area of wild desert landscape a few hours outside of Anaheim.

Known and named for the distinct Joshua Tree which is found in abundance within the park boundaries, it is a favorite with rock climbers and hikers looking to get out into the real desert.

It’s another world, unlike anywhere else, and the scenery could tempt you to spend more than just a day exploring this National Park.

13. Santa Ana

Santa Ana is the largest of Orange County’s cities, and it is more Hispanic than anywhere else in the United States.

Spanish is the main language here, and a trip to Santa Ana is an immersion in Latino culture that you can’t find anywhere else in the country without crossing the border to Mexico.

14. San Bernardino

Most people have eaten a McDonald’s burger at some point in their life, but few people will know that the first McDonald’s restaurant was opened in San Bernardino, a city near Anaheim.

A visit here will take you to the original site of the first ever McDonald’s, where it all began decades ago before sweeping across the globe.

There’s an unofficial museum at the site of the original fast food joint, and many McDonald’s fans will make the pilgrimage here to see the old advertising billboards and a slice of history in an off-beat city.

15. Slab City

A trip to Slab City is the most unusual day trip possible from Anaheim.

Far out in the desert, this ‘city’ was once a military barracks, but has since been taken over by squatters, artists and anyone looking to live life off the grid.

It’s a bizarre community of artists and recluses, all of whom make up a unique cross section of people, far removed from the cities along the California coast.

Slab City might be off the grid, but it’s open to tourism, and visitors are welcome to tour around and even to stay.
