National Tour of BEAUTIFUL – THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL Returns in November

The tour will return on November 2, 2021 in Chicago, IL.

The North American tour of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning hit musical Beautiful - The Carole King Musical will return on November 2, 2021 in Chicago, IL. The tour will have been off the road for 600 days due to the Covid-19 pandemic; Beautiful last performed on March 12, 2020 at the Heymann Center in Lafayette, LA. The production will hold technical rehearsals and performances at Chicago's CIBC Theatre (November 2-7, 2021) before embarking on its 2021-22 North American Touring season. Dates and cities are listed below, casting will be announced later.

"Following this unprecedented intermission from live theater, we are thrilled that Beautiful will be back on the road to bring joy and music once again to audiences across North America for the sixth touring season," producer Paul Blake said. "We are humbled that over five million audience members worldwide have been entertained by our celebration of Carole's story and her timeless music."

Since the tour's launch in September 2015, Beautiful has played 1,586 performances in 160 cities over 204 weeks to nearly 2.7 million patrons.

Beautiful is scheduled to play more than 60 markets in the 2021-22 touring season, including many premiere engagements. Beautiful will be part of the inaugural season at the brand-new Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts in Greensboro, NC and will play return engagements in Washington, DC, Detroit, MI, Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Columbus, OH, Seattle, WA and many more.

With a book by Tony and Academy Award-nominee Douglas McGrath , direction by Marc Bruni and choreography by Josh Prince , Beautiful features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin / Carole King and Barry Mann / Cynthia Weil . On October 27, 2019, the Broadway production of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical ended its smash-hit, record-breaking run after nearly six years. The production played 60 preview and 2,418 regular performances, surpassing the original production of Annie and the landmark 1998 revival of Cabaret to become the 27th longest-running musical (and the second longest running "bio-musical") in Broadway history. On Broadway, the show was seen by almost 2,200,000 audience members (including, quite famously, King herself) and is the longest-running and highest-grossing show in the history of the Stephen Sondheim Theatre.

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical (Ghostlight Records) won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and is available on CD, digitally, and on vinyl.

Sony Pictures has announced that the film adaptation of Beautiful will be produced by Tom Hanks , Gary Goetzman , and Paul Blake .

Long before she was Carole King , chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein , Brooklyn girl with passion and chutzpah. She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and, by the time she reached her twenties, had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock 'n' roll. But it wasn't until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice. Beautiful tells the inspiring true story of King's remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin , to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann , to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. Beautiful features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin / Carole King and Barry Mann / Cynthia Weil , including "I Feel The Earth Move," "One Fine Day," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," "You've Got A Friend" and the title song.

Producers  Paul Blake  and  Sony/ATV Music Publishing have announced the cast for the North American tour of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning hit musical Beautiful- The Carole King Musical .

The tour will welcome Sara Sheperd  ( Carole King ),  James D. Gish  ( Gerry Goffin ),  Sara King  ( Cynthia Weil ),  Ryan Farnsworth  ( Barry Mann ),  Matt Loehr  ( Don Kirshner ) and  Rachel Coloff  ( Genie Klein ) to the Company.

The ensemble of  Beautiful  includes  Isaiah Bailey, Edwin Bates, Kaitlyn Nicole Davis, Rosharra Francis, Jamary Alexandra Gil, Kevin Hack, Danielle Herbert, Torrey Linder, Nick Moulton, Nurney, Teshomech Olenja, Monet Sabel, Paul Scanlan, Sarah Sigman,  and  Ben Toomer.

Beautiful – The Carole King Musical will return on November 2, 2021 in Chicago, IL. The tour will have been off the road for 600 days due to the Covid-19 pandemic;  Beautiful  last performed on March 12, 2020 at the Heymann Center in Lafayette, LA. The production will hold technical rehearsals and performances at Chicago’s CIBC Theatre (November 2-7, 2021) before embarking on its 2021-22 North American Touring season. With a book by Tony® and Academy® Award-nominee  Douglas McGrath , direction by  Marc Bruni  and choreography by  Josh Prince ,  Beautiful  features a stunning array of beloved songs written by  Gerry Goffin / Carole King  and  Barry Mann / Cynthia Weil .  On October 27, 2019, the Broadway production of  Beautiful – The Carole King Musical  will end its smash-hit, record-breaking run after nearly six years. By the time the production takes its final bow, it will have played 60 preview and 2,418 regular performances, surpassing the original production of  Annie  and the landmark 1998 revival of  Cabaret  to become the 27 th  longest-running musical (and the second longest running “bio-musical”) in Broadway history. On Broadway, the show has been seen by almost 2,200,000 audience members (including, quite famously, King herself) and is the longest-running and highest-grossing show in the history of the Stephen Sondheim Theatre.

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of  Beautiful – The Carole King Musical  (Ghostlight Records) won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and is available on CD, digitally, and on vinyl .

Sara Sheperd to Lead Beautiful: The Carole King Musical on Tour

Happy days are here again! The North American tour of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical will return on November 2 in Chicago. The tour will have been off the road for 600 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic; Beautiful last performed on March 12, 2020 at the Heymann Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. The production will hold technical rehearsals and performances at Chicago’s CIBC Theatre from November 2 through November 7 before embarking on its 2021-2022 North American touring season. Beautiful will be led by Sara Sheperd as Carole King. Sheperd has also appeared on Broadway in  Beautiful and Cry-Baby . The company will also include James D. Gish as Gerry Goffin, Sara King as Cynthia Weil, Ryan Farnsworth as Barry Mann, Matt Loehr as Don Kirshner and Rachel Coloff as Genie Klein. The ensemble of Beautiful includes Isaiah Bailey, Edwin Bates, Kaitlyn Nicole Davis, Rosharra Francis, Jamary Alexandra Gil, Kevin Hack, Danielle Herbert, Torrey Linder, Nick Moulton, Nurney, Teshomech Olenja, Monet Sabel, Paul Scanlan, Sarah Sigman and Ben Toomer.

With a book by Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni, choreography by Josh Prince and musical supervision by Jason Howland, Beautiful features an array of songs from the catalogue of Carole King, Gerry Goffin, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.

“Following this unprecedented intermission from live theater, we are thrilled that Beautiful will be back on the road to bring joy and music once again to audiences across North America for the sixth touring season,” producer Paul Blake said in a statement. Since the tour’s launch in September 2015, Beautiful has played 1,586 performances in 160 cities over 204 weeks to nearly 2.7 million patrons.

Beautiful but highly destructive: On the hunt to kill elusive, invasive lionfish on Florida’s reef

The beautiful fish threaten Florida's reef ecosystems so dangerously that the state's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has organized contests to reward divers who kill and remove them.

ABOARD THE LADY GO DIVER – Drifting in the slight chop of the Atlantic Ocean a mile off Florida's eastern coast, small groups of divers armed with spears and a purpose tumbled deliberately backward off the boat into the sea so deeply blue it was the hue of ripe blueberries.

Diving as deep as 100 feet below the surface, they scoured rocky and coral outcroppings for elusive, invasive lionfish to kill as many of them as possible.

With venomous, featherlike spines, the beautiful fish – distinguished by their red, brown and white stripes – threaten Florida's reef ecosystems so dangerously that the state's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has organized contests to reward recreational and commercial divers who kill and remove them. Monday was the final day for this year's statewide contest.

Divers speared the fish at depth and placed them, dead or alive, inside clear containers to return to the boat to be counted toward this year's prize. Topside, back aboard the 46-foot dive boat, they carefully clipped the venomous spines that can inflict injuries so bad they are described as among the most painful in the ocean. Each tail counted toward this year’s tally.

Lionfish, which can grow over a foot in length and are native to the South Pacific and Indian oceans, have become an ecological menace in Florida because they voraciously eat smaller fish and have no natural predators here. They were first sighted in Florida waters in 1985. A single lionfish can devastate native fish along stretches of Atlantic reefs.

Last year’s winner, Baye Beauford, 45, of Jacksonville, who owns a car repair shop, caught 1,514 during the three-month summer tournament. All told, hundreds of divers across Florida captured more than 30,000 fish during more than 900 trips last year.

The wildlife commission was expected to formally announce this year’s winner next month. Beauford was leading in Florida with 915 late Monday, according to unofficial figures.

In an interview late Monday from Jacksonville just after returning from another dive, Beauford said he dives for lionfish twice a week about 25 miles off the coast of north Florida, where he said there are fewer recreational divers competing for lionfish than in South Florida.

This year, he said, he noticed fewer small lionfish on the reefs and more large ones. After conversations with a state biologist, Beauford believes lionfish in the areas he dives may be exhausting the food supply of smaller reef fish – and cannibalizing small examples of their own kind. Beauford said he’s also hearing reports of nurse sharks hunting lionfish.

Three hundred miles south, aboard the Lady Go Diver off Pompano Beach, Tim Robinson stood in shorts and flip flops giving last-minute instructions for divers to spear lionfish. The boat is operated by DX “Dixie” Divers of Deerfield Beach.

Robinson is tan with close-cropped hair and a lobster tattoo that engulfs his entire right forearm. He was in third place late Monday with 726 lionfish, according to unofficial results.

Robinson, 63, of Parkland in Broward County runs these underwater hunting expeditions as a managing partner for the LZK Group LLC, a Sunrise-based company that sells spearfishing and lionfish equipment under the ZooKeeper brand. Robinson regularly dives in the waters off Pompano Beach, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Boynton Beach. ZooKeeper has sponsored the lionfish challenge with the wildlife commission.

“Right now, the only answer is divers, diving and shooting them,” Robinson said. “They’re trying to come up with some traps and stuff, but [it's] difficult because the lionfish is a different species.”

A company spokeswoman, Particia Mauldin, said organizations like ZooKeeper represent the primary predators for lionfish in the Atlantic Ocean.

“If there wasn't anybody out there hunting, it would kill the reef,” she said.

One of the divers on this trip was Cristina Parr, 40, of Loxahatchee. A former personal trainer who runs a medical spa for athletes, she started hunting lionfish as a hobby, she said. She appreciated Robinson’s knowledge and experience making it safer. Parr had little interest in feeling the effects of lionfish venom from a barb.

“They definitely make it safer to catch them,” Parr said. “It makes it more appealing and easier to catch them and enjoy your dive without being worried about getting stung.”

After two, 30-minute dives, the group of about 15 caught 10 lionfish, along with spearing a few traditionally caught reef fish for dinner.

Despite the scary venom in their spines, the meat from lionfish is edible, said to resemble cod or snapper with a buttery flavor.

‘Hard Truths’ Stars Say Making the Mike Leigh Film Was an ‘Intense and Beautiful Process’ | Wrap Studio

TIFF 2024: Leigh says the first version of the film “disappeared with COVID” after the pandemic scrapped plans to shoot

“Hard Truths” star David Webber said working with costar Marianne Jean-Baptiste was a “very intense and beautiful process” that was also “painful.” The pair play husband and wife Curtley and Pansy in the new Mike Leigh-directed film, which follows various members of an extended Black family living in London.

“Mike and I worked, individually, until things got to a certain level. Then we started to work together and we discovered how they work together. And that was a very intense and beautiful process, and also a painful process in many ways as well,” Webber told TheWrap’s Steve Pond at TheWrap’s 2024 TIFF Studio sponsored by Moët & Chandon and Boss Design.

Leigh originally intended the make the movie before the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, but the director said that the first version of the film “disappeared with COVID.”

“This is the film’s we’ve actually made,” Leigh added.

During the beginning stages of making a movie, Leigh continued, he also just has “ideas and possibilities and feelings” that are “hard to put it down in an easily digestible form.” The process is the same as how “people paint pictures and write novels and make music and make poetry and sculpture.”

“We got together another gang of really interesting and talented character actors… we then went on the journey and discovered the film,” Leigh said.

The movie reunited Leigh and Jean-Baptiste, who previously worked together on 1996’s “Secrets & Lies.” The actress made it clear that the process of working with the director was collaborative. After her character was described as “exhausting,” Jean-Baptiste explained, “You have to keep her at a certain level. And at times I think I can say to Mike, this isn’t sustainable. It’s like something’s gonna happen, something’s gonna give.”

Still, the experience of playing the character was rewarding. She added, “But yeah, I mean, it’s wonderful but I mean, it’s great having to really get your teeth into something like that and motor through.”

Eminem's daughter Hailie Jade Mathers gushes about her 'beautiful' wedding

Hailie Jade Mathers has officially become a bride.

The 28-year-old daughter of rapper Eminem shared the news of her dreamy wedding day on  her Instagram page  on Monday.

The newlywed announced she had married her longtime partner, Evan McClintock, over the weekend with five photos from the ceremony and after.

“Waking up a wife this week,” the caption to her post reads. “We couldn’t have asked for a better, more beautiful weekend celebration. So so many happy tears were shed, laughs & smiles were had, & so much love was felt. Evan and I are feeling so grateful for all of the family & friends that traveled to support us and be a part of this new chapter of our lives as husband & wife.”

The first image in Mathers’ post shows the “Just a Little Shady” podcaster and her husband kissing while standing before an officiant. In the photo, the three stand under a doorway adorned with white flowers.

A second photo shows the couple driving off in a classic white convertible. The subsequent two photos show portraits of McClintock and Mathers, respectively. The latter shows Mathers in a mermaid gown featuring a strapless sweetheart neckline and a skirt made of gathered ruffles. She can also be seen wearing an airy cathedral-length veil and stud earrings, while holding a bouquet of white and cream florals.

Instagram users offered congratulations and well wishes to the bride and her groom in the comments section of the post.

“I hope this day, but more importantly I hope this life is everything you’ve dreamed of and more,” Mathers’ sister, Alaina Marie Scott, wrote. “You are so deserving.”

“Even though I don’t know you, I feel like I knew you my whole life,” read another comment. “Congratulations to you both!”

Some users couldn’t resist asking for more details on the celebration, with many asking for photos of her father, Eminem (born Marshall Mathers), on the day of. Mathers is  the second of the rapper’s three children  with ex Kim Scott, and he has mentioned her in various songs throughout his career. In 2002, he released the hit “Hailie’s Song.”

“Can we please see Em walk you down the [aisle],” one user asked.

“Where’s da goat?” another chimed in.

Mathers and McClintock became engaged back in February 2023  after being in a long-term relationship for several years.

At the time of their engagement, Mathers shared the news  with an Instagram post  highlighting the moment McClintock surprised her and got down on one knee.
