• Given the fact it’s a travel wallet, which is traditionally much larger, this is a really slim wallet.

• The only issue with this wallet is the price might be a little too high for some people. Also other Travel Wallets do exist on the market at a lesser price tag.

Bellroy is one of my favorite wallet brands in the world. They are one of the most popular wallet manufacturers in the world and we’re single-handedly reasonable for Kickstarting my love of wallets way back in 2016. Since, then they expanded their range offering other leather goods including backpacks, phone cases, and travel goods. But one thing has always stayed consistent with Bellroy, they always strive for the very best, most innovative products on the market and that has always stood out to me.

Today we’re going to be reviewing the Bellroy Travel Wallet . Last week I actually got the chance to finally travel to London for some work so I took this as the perfect opportunity to test a big backlog of travel/passport wallets I never got the chance to try (thanks COVID). While on business for 2 days I got the chance to really put the Travel wallet through its paces and feel like I’ve been able to come up with an impartial opinion on this interesting wallet. Let’s now look into detail regarding what the Travel wallet, but Bellroy, has to offer you. 

Look & Design

Straight out of the box and at first glance, the Travel Wallet looks similar to every other wallet on the market but it is anything but “just another wallet”. On the exterior of the wallet are some Bellroy detailing and an unbranded back, giving the Travel Wallet a nice and simple look. Opening up the wallet, you’ll see some fairly familiar sights, similar to earlier wallet versions released by Bellroy but with startling differences that make this wallet stand out. Sporting great quality leather, the wallet measures 150mm x 97mm and is large enough to hold all your travel essentials and small enough to fit in your front, back, or even breast pocket. 

Made from premium tanned hides and using leather that has been sustainability sourced Bellroy has done a fantastic job of creating a premium look and feeling wallet while also giving back to the community. Bellroy is actually part of the B Corp movement – a group of certified companies using the power of business to help solve social and environmental problems. So if you’re someone who likes to consider the ramifications and impact of the companies you purchase goods from Bellroy are a great place to start. 

Available In a classic range of colors. Bellroy has always been good about providing a huge variety of options for variations in their wallets and the Travel wallet is no exception to this rule. Color options include black, blue, and two brown colors. 

Functionality & Utility 

The Travel Wallet also comes with a nice pen that not only looks good but also fits into the wallet nicely and has the Bellroy logo stamped on it too. The pen is perfect for filling out those pesky immigration forms or scribbling world-changing ideas.  Bellroy’s incredible attention to detail is clearly shown in the design of this beautiful Travel Wallet. The pen also comes with a replacement should you lose your original.

Now to the capacity of the wallet for cash and cards. You get four quick access credit card slots in the front of the wallet and three in the back, perfect for holding your ATM, credit, debit, and even the occasional business card or coupon. There’s enough space to hold around 10 cards safely and comfortably. On the front right side of the wallet is a space to hold your passports which is a roomy slot that is tight and keeps your passport secure when out and about. 

The main pouch of the Travel Wallet is spacious enough to hold your plane tickets and even immigration forms without fear of crease or tear. There’s also a nifty little feature in this wallet that I quite like. There’s a “hidden” compartment right behind the main pouch that you’ll definitely find handy. This sits alongside the standard long banknote slot but hidden which allows you to hide additional cash or paper items.

Finally, the Travel wallet also comes with RFID lining that helps prevent your wallet In a world of credit card fraud, Bellroy offers a simple solution that will prevent people from skimming your cards when the wallet is in your pocket and that’s really handy. 

Final Verdict

Bellroy is, and always has been, reasonably priced in my opinion. As the Travel wallet is much larger than most of their wallets it does come in at an increased price tag of $125.00 . Is this a little too expensive for what you get? I personally don’t think so. The Bellroy Travel wallet serves a very niche purpose and I think out of all the travel wallets I’ve ever reviewed it does a fantastic job while still feeling like an everyday wallet. It’s not too large compared to others on the market and has a fantastic look and feel.

This Travel Wallet is a properly thought out and well-designed product made of high-quality leather and with a great warranty that not only is functional but is also stylish. It gives you everything you’ll need in a travel wallet and more. I’d recommend you get it. Bellroy is one of my favorite accessory brands, and I'm not alone. It's been a top choice on Insider Reviews since the shopping advice vertical was launched in 2014.

We've been obsessed with the brand for a while, to the point that we've written about them a number of times — we've lost count — and tested most of its products . Several Bellroy wallets have made their way into our guide for the best men's wallets .

Gear Review: The Bellroy Travel Wallet

Every traveler knows securely carrying multiple currencies, credit cards, boarding passes, and a passport in a safe and secure manner is critical. However, this comes at the cost of wearing or stashing a bulky travel wallet somewhere on your body or in your bag. For many it means putting your passport in one place, boarding pass in another, and stashing currency in all sorts of places.

I am not a fan of those ugly pouches that go around your neck. If anything they make you a target because they are clearly visible through your shirt. In the past I have always used a passport holder and my front pockets to secure things. This has done the job to date but it is hardly organized.

This is where the Bellroy excels. It is both slim and a wonderful organizer for travelers. It easily holds everything I need for a journey anywhere my travels may take me. It fits easily into your back pocket or front if that is what you prefer.

The Bellroy was designed with a traveler in mind. It features an easy access passport slot on the inside along with two go-to credit card slots. Behind that are two slightly less accessible slots. That can be used for backup credit cards, memory cards, or anything slim you might need on the road.

I had my regrets why I bought belroys products and okease do not trust if they say they deliver because it’s not true!

The design is beautiful but the quality is poor, especially for the price. My card sleeve is falling apart after a year or two, and Bellroy won’t replace it without proof of purchase. Who keeps receipts for more than a year for items like this!? It has their name stamped on it but apparently that’s not good enough. Their warranty is a con. Very poor and short-sighted. Customer satisfaction is clearly not high on their priority list.

Featuring a different layout, double card-capacity, but slightly downgraded leather quality for approximately the same price is the Bellroy.

The leather is top-grain, meaning the actual top layer has been sanded away, erasing the hide’s natural grain, markings, and variations. A stippled texture is then stamped into the leather to provide the appearance of full-grain leather.

The “corrected,” more uniform appearance of top-grain leather might be stylishly preferable to some users who do not necessarily value the natural imperfections of individual hides. It is a more polished type of leather for refined fashion tastes. The processing and the material removed is minimal, so top-grain leather is still very strong and durable.

A wallet made from top-grain leather is certainly worthy of being called a quality product, and to prove it, the Bellroy wallet is guaranteed by a 3-year warranty "when used under normal conditions and for the purpose intended" . The Bellroy Travel wallet is one of the simplest and most functional carries I’ve ever seen, but just like anything else, it MIGHT have some flaws…or does it?

This review will give you all the key details on what this product offers, allowing me to break things down so that you can be sure that your money is well spent.

If you’re still on the fence about purchasing something as pricy as the Travel Wallet by Bellroy, this article will help you better decide on something with some awesome marketing.

Of course, you were intrigued by the little videos and the simple yet sleek look of any products from this company.

The same thing happened when I first came across the Bellroy case for the iPhone 6S, and I have now become a fan of this brand, and for very good reason at that.

Let’s break down the Bellroy Travel Wallet with a nice little review on such a simple, pricey product.

Who The Bellroy Travel Wallet is For

This is great for anyone who travels but is perfect for guys who even travel at least once a year, like me, lol.

With compartments for all necessities, this travel wallet is something to consider before taking your next trip.

With a necessary compartment for your passport and a nice little pen, this wallet can do the job.

If you don’t need the passport part of the deal, you might better get the Slim Sleeve instead.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Review

Bellroy has developed several products with a simple and classy look, with the Travel Wallet being the latest one on my to-buy list.

First off, it comes in 3 different colors for just regular leather and then three colors for their RFID (security related), which is not the coolest thing, in my opinion.

Regular leather travel wallets come in…

The RFID travel wallets come in…

• Black (charcoal lining)
• Caramel (charcoal lining)
• Java (charcoal lining)

All Bellroy Travel Wallets come in simple colors, but I see no reason to have the RFID ones come in separate colors because they also come with a higher price tag.

Do you need RFID in the first place?

What happened to regular old wallets, and why would you need that type of protection now?

Marketing tactic?

That’s what I think, and I also think you don’t need that type of stuff, but that’s just me.

Now for a couple of bucks more…it’s really hard not to.

Confusing, I know, but once again, marketing at its finest.

Also, keep in mind that not all colors are available as they do sell out, but they will get more in stock if you are patient enough.

The travel pen is a great addition, especially when filling out those customs forms.

Not to mention that it comes with refills if you plan to use that pen for other things, which is not recommended.

As a frequent flyer, I always have at least two pens with me, even if most of my work is done online.

Simple Design

I’m all about simplicity, and all of Bellroy’s products are not too fancy, do what it’s supposed to do, and last.

From the packaging alone, you can already tell you’re getting something of great quality, just like any of apple’s products.

For people like me who like simple and functional stuff, the Bellroy Travel Wallet is exactly what we need.

Then you throw in some crazy packaging and very enticing advertising, and you’ll have people buying this thing like crazy.

The Price for the Bellroy Travel Wallet

This is one of the things that kind of turned me off, but I think they hit a very good price point with this one.

Since it is big enough to hold your passport or a small tablet, I’d have to agree with the pricing, although it might not sit well with others.

Depending on whether or not you want to be secure from hackers and thieves, will determine how much you spend for this travel wallet.

Bellroy stands behind its products 100%, and if you’re not satisfied, you can expect a refund as well as a 3-year warranty for this wallet.

I have had an issue with my Bellroy iPhone 6S case, and they sent me a replacement even if I didn’t have the receipt.

They simply found my name, I sent them some pics of my defective product, and they sent me a replacement without a problem.

Great product, and with a 3-year warranty, that makes this product worth it.

Hi John, thanks for the great summary on this wallet. I only ran into one open question after reading through. Can you clarify what the RFID actually does? You mentioned it a few times above but I’m not really certain why I would or wouldn’t want it.

RFID stand for radio frequency identification and this is used in some credit cards and passports specifically to store personal information. What RFID blocking does is it protects you from something called “skimming”, which is used by thieves. The thing about it is that they don’t even need to take anything from you as all it requires is a quick “skim” and they can have some of your information. So being that traveling involves some heavy traffic and sometimes into some foreign land, this might be worth the extra few dollars.

Hello. This is a great review and its clear how much you know about it. My only problem with some wallets is that they lack a good place for coins. But I guess its only me with too many coins haha.

So good that I added the Travel Wallet and Passport Sleeve to my line up.

Here goes the review!

Bellroy Travel Wallet and Passport Sleeve, perfect wallets for traveling

Travel wallets make traveling abroad so much easier.

You can use it for doing things like:

• carry your passport
• carry your boarding pass
• carry foreign currency
• carry ATM cards and metro cards that you’ll be using at your destination
• carry itineraries
• carry SIM cards that you’ll be using at your destination

I used to use a TUMI one but it was massive and a pain in the butt to carry.

I was always on the lookout for a smaller, but functional travel wallet and that is how I came about the bellroy Travel Wallet.

What you need to know about the bellroy Travel Wallet

The bellroy Travel Wallet is like a bi-fold wallet big enough to carry a passport .

Key features are:

• dedicated passport pocket for easy access
• 7 card pockets
• mini pen with refill ink
• 2 compartments for bills, big enough for boarding pass
• slot for SIM card カード and SIM card pin

Made out of leather, made in India.

Build Quality

It’s not the best I’ve seen (sewing is not good, you can also see glue) but that doesn’t make me hate the product.

I’ll have to see how it’ll hold up from actual use.

When you use the SIM card slot, make sure you don’t push the SIM card in all the way. You won’t be able to get it out. Just leave the edge of the card sticking out for easy access.

Functionality

Looks very promising.

Lets move over what was in the TUMI.

It’s this slim with everything inside!

It’s bigger than a normal bi-fold so I’ll probably move what I’ll be using at my destination when I get there to a smaller wallet (card pocket would be perfect) and keep the Travel Wallet in my suit case.

I’ve also found this thing to be handy even when I’m not traveling. I currently keep the Card Pocket in my pocket and stash the Travel Wallet in my bag with cards that I don’t use often.

Strip down the Travel Wallet to its bare essentials and you get the Passport Sleeve.

It’s more of a passport case than a travel wallet.

• Pocket for passport (super easy access with pull out tab)

• boarding pass pocket (carry folded)
• mini pen with refill

It appears to be more durable than the Travel Wallet due to the simpler structure.

Doesn’t have much carrying power so its for people that only carry a passport and a few cards when they’re on the go.

Pull the tab on the back for easy access to your passport.

I personally need more carrying power so I’ll be using the Travel Wallet.

I’ve gone through a lot of wallets during the past few months but I think I can now finally settle down.

The exterior is crafted from recycled polyester and is PFC-free, which is an excellent shout from an environmental standpoint. A small zippered pocket on the exterior works well for change or if you’re waiting in line at a cash-only joint and don’t want to wave bills around beforehand.

This passport wallet is large, but not so large that you’ll feel awkward holding onto it for a few minutes at a restaurant or shop. The interior organization is thoughtful and easy to organize, so you’ll be able to quickly access your gear no matter where you end up.

The interior has a simple design that can hold a few cards, cash, and a passport. The organization doesn’t try to do or carry too much and ensures you don’t overpack in the process.

However, it’s pretty large for what you can stow inside. It feels more like a standard model than a travel wallet. That might not work for some, but if you want to use something that reminds you of what you’re used to, it will do that perfectly. The model we have on hand has a black-and-white colorway that’s sharp-looking and unique.

Red Wing has been cranking out comfortable boots since just after the turn of the century, but they make other leather goods worth looking at, too. The Red Wing Shoes Passport Wallet is crafted from durable materials and feels as sturdy as we’d expect from such a reliable brand.

On the interior, the two sides are nearly identical. There are slide pockets for your passport(s), two slots for cards, and a larger pocket perfect for cash. There isn’t a good spot for coins, so you might want to have an alternative place for that or avoid carrying it.

Given the durability of the leather, the crease isn’t very flat, which gives this travel wallet a lot of width. It feels more comfortable in a sling or daypack, but you can throw it in your jacket pocket in a pinch.

Best for: Sustainable Travelers

Why We Like It: Has enough space to fit small gear inside, so it functions similar to a clutch bag.

What You Should Know: It’s pretty bulky for the storage space you get.

We’ve tested a lot of Fjallraven gear over the years, a lot of which carries the Kanken name. The Fjallraven Kanken Travel Wallet is perfect for someone who already owns gear from the line or is looking for an ecosystem to invest in.

This passport wallet has lots of internal organization for your travel essentials and everyday gear. There’s an exterior phone pocket to keep everything in one place; however, plus-sized phones and large cases might not fit. When you’re phone is stowed inside, you can see the edges, which isn’t the most flattering look.

There are numerous fun colorways, and the styling perfectly fits into the Kanken line. However, it works well with anything colorful. When not fully packed, the top of the wallet caves in a little. This doesn’t affect usage, but it is noticeable.

Why We Like It: Enough room to stow your daily essentials and passport.

What You Should Know: It’s a bit bulky, even for a small pouch.

The CODEOFBELL ANNEX CASE isn’t a passport wallet per say, but it works exceptionally well for folks who want to go the extra mile in gear storage. The exterior has a durable shell with ample water resistance, so your gear inside will stay safe.

You can turn the case into a sling or crossbody bag, so you don’t have to worry about whether or not it will fit into your pocket. Though that makes this thing is large and hefty, you can fit more gear inside than in a traditional travel wallet. It utilizes segmentation, separate zippered compartments, and liner pockets to ensure all your gear has a home.

It has a minimalistic design, but the black colorway might not be what everyone looks for in a pouch.

The strap clips don’t feel the most secure, but we haven’t had any issues with them coming undone. There’s enough space to segment your gear on the interior but not enough to drown it in organizational bureaucracy. That said, it can feel a bit tight, so it’s best for storing small gear like a phone or chapstick.

Whether at the airport or on a fancy date, the Moment Crossbody Wallet is the best travel wallet that's up for any occasion and ensures all your gear makes it home safely.

Does the Bellroy Travel Wallet Live Up to the Hype?

If I was a man, the Bellroy Travel Wallet could be my spirit animal. The level of detail makes me certain they’ve seen into my soul as a frequent flier.

Truth be told, I’m not a fan of travel wallets. I find the thought of keeping everything together in one spot  a bad, bad idea — mostly because I have  lost everything in one fell swoop. But the Bellroy Travel Wallet, manufactured by an Australian company, is designed to be an accompaniment to the everyday wallet. And it comes at a hefty price, specifically $119.95 on Amazon , though the company did send us a sample to review.

The Bellroy Travel Wallet is a specialized wallet with a passport holder, SIM card pouch and micropen for customs along with space for tickets, credit cards, bills and forms all bound up in vegetable-tanned cow leather. It also comes in a variety of colors such as black, slate gray, dark brown and light brown. Unfortunately what it makes up in attention to features and details, it falls slightly short in materials and craftsmanship, especially at this price point.

What’s not immediately apparent from looking at it online is that the wallet measures 3.82 inches x 5.91 inches (9.7 cm x 15 cm), significantly bigger than the average man wallet. This is not a wallet easily thrown into the back jean pocket—though you obviously can—but is clearly designed to be a coat wallet due to its bulk and size.

Comparatively, the average men's wallet averages around 3.54 inches x 4.33 inches (9 cm x 11 cm). In a nutshell, the height is similar but the width is about 26.7% larger. It is a thin wallet, and perhaps that's something that can account for the leather used.

Full of details.

Basically, the leather is not THE BEST. Its decent but I've definitely seen better. I don't know if this probably has something to do with an environmentally sustainable leather or its thinness but almost everyone I showed it to made the same unprompted comment. Now, I don't know if there is some kind of weird price-justification consumer psychology going on over at Amazon but based on its price but I stand pretty firmly on this thought. In terms of craftsmanship, the stitching itself held up pretty well over 26,726 miles (43,011 km) sans one incident which I'll go into depth later.

The most obvious section of the wallet has space for a passport and even a small notebook in lieu of it. I was able to slide in my 56-page passport, which ain’t your normal-sized passport , into the slot without forcing it. It should come as no surprise that most people have reported  they can fit up to two normal-sized passports into it without any issue. It’s clearly built with frequent flyers and serious travelers in mind.

Though the company claims it can hold up to ten plus cards, there are four front slots for the most accessed cards and three slots along the top of the interior of the first billfold. (Sneaky!) In total, there only seems to be "space" for seven cards, though the leather stretches over time to accommodate more cards. People have also reported that this is indeed the case for those worried and need to jam in a lot of stuff.

On the negative side, once the leather stretches, it may not be possible to fit in a smaller amount of cards and keep them secure. In particular, I found the interior slots part to be the most interesting and defective, because it’s Bellroy built the last three slots along the side to be quite tight — cards don’t easily slide in or out.

Oopsies daisies.

It’s also where our unit revealed the wallet’s first defect: a thin thread came loose among one of the slots the day after I received it. Before it had gone for a test run, even. (This thread later became worse over time, though, on the whole, the stitching held up.)

Quite obviously, Bellroy's main selling point is the Japanese micropen, the Pilot BRF-8F, that can be inserted into the fold of the wallet crease, making it convenient to jot down a couple of notes down or fill out a customs form. Included is a free refill—whee!—but in case you lose the Pilot BRF-8F 0.7mm refill, it’s also available on Amazon. A couple of brief searches peg refills at $5 per , and it's not surprising given the fact this isn’t a pen you find everyday on the street. Our tester Andy (and who practically went into exhaustion traveling and testing!) noticed he barely felt it even carrying it in his back jean pocket.

There inner SIM card spot, located on the inner left corner, is for extra SIM cards. It’s an unusual feature and even got a close girlfriend (who travels around 100,000 miles per year) oohing and ahhing. Obviously, it’s got about enough space for one SIM or so, not a ton. Even if you’re sporting T-Mobile’s free data roaming , I never like to take the chance that network and data coverage will be great everywhere. The pouch itself, though, is only technically a cutaway so when Andy slid one into the spot, he noticed it fell into the other part of the wallet and became difficult to remove.

Personally, I just wanted to see how everything fare inside the wallet, so I chunked a couple of cards I thought I might use inside:

• 56-page passport . There’s no use keeping this bad boy at home.
• The outermost four interior slots get topped off with my Global Entry card , driver’s license , an Oyster card for London transit (or destination transport card) and my Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card .
• The interior three card slots are reserved for my United Premier Gold card (air status) and my Marriott Rewards Gold card (hotel status). There’s a remaining card slot for whatever else you’d like to carry. Always reserve an extra seat at the dinner table in case someone else shows up, I say.
• U.S. dollars are kept in the first billfold.
• British pounds are kept in the second billfold. I just so happen to be carrying a £5 note with me. For reasons I can’t explain, it’s instinctual.
• In the case, I’m not using a second currency or carrying a second wallet, it’s a great place to store boarding passes and other assorted documentation, cough, like a customs card. The U.S. customs card did not fit, though.

The most noticeable thing is that it strikes me more as a secondary rather than an all-in-one wallet because of the size and the leather. Used as a jeans wallet, the leather starts getting fussed rather easily. It’s clear that the leather would quickly wear out over time worn in this particular manner as we bounced it from San Francisco to Houston to St. Louis to Houston to Perth to Bali to Houston to Boston. (Never mind wearing it this way would also destroy the passport as well.)

As much as I want to, it's hard to sweep its flaws under the rug. Though the brushed leather is a nice touch—complete with beautiful leather smell, ohmaigod—it was more than apparent there were at least one stitching issue. The thing that made it even more terrible was that this didn’t happen after several months on the road but literally on the second day I received it. That’s definitely no bueno even if the company offers a three-year warranty.

But I still like it. If that makes sense.

This Review In Under 10 Seconds

The Bellroy Travel Wallet accounts for details most normal travel wallets don’t take into consideration. But as a second wallet and not a main wallet, it’s expensive. If Bellroy could come down about $30 lower on the price even, that'd be perfect. (Some of the features don't justify that high of a premium.) There are minor craftsmanship and material issues but despite that, I’d recommend it. The consensus was that the wallet rates around a 6 or 7 out of 10.

It's still a cool gift most travelers wouldn't mind receiving — as long they don't have to pay for it.

Bellroy Wallet Usability

Functionality is just as important as style for an EDC slim wallet . Our Bellroy Wallet Review focused on three key factors: Pocketability, card carry and access, and cash carry and access.

Pocketability

Pocketability is the area where Bellroy hits it out of the park. The design aims to be the slimmest and most pocketable options you can find without sacrificing function.

The Slim Sleeve is only about a centimeter longer than a credit card itself and is whisper-thin. We found it exceptionally easy to slip into and out of front, back, or jacket pockets.

Going into our Bellroy Wallet review, we were concerned about cards slipping loose, but after wiggling and jiggling them a bit those concerns have been resolved. So long as you’ve got a pair of cards in each slot they’re not going anywhere you don’t want them to.

Card Carry and Access

If you’re looking to carry a moderate number of credit cards or debit cards, the Bellroy Slim Sleeve is tailor-made for you. While it can carry up to 12 cards with no cash or 8 with cash, we found the real sweet spot was 6-8 cards.

That gave us one to two in the quick access slots, plus four more in the main card compartment. The quick-access cards slip right up with the touch of a finger, while the main card compartment has a small pull tab.

We found it easy to access every card in the Slim Sleeve, though we did once push the tab into the card compartment. Thankfully, it was easy to pull back out, and we didn’t have a problem with it again.

Cash Carry and Access

The Slim Sleeve can hold notes folded either in half or tri-fold for larger notes. There’s no traditional cash compartment as in a billfold wallet, but one of the slots can be used to store them.

While you won’t be packing a massive wad of cash in the Bellroy Slim Sleeve, it’s certainly capable of holding a reasonable amount of bills. We slipped up to five bills in without a noticeable increase in thickness, particularly if you were already packing a bunch of cards.

Coin carry isn’t recommended, though, so if you like to keep a few coins, we recommend you check out something like the more substantial Bellroy Hide and Seek or the Zip Wallet .

Durability, Reliability, and Sustainability 

Bellroy wallets are made primarily from leather and woven materials. Leather has been used to make high-quality and highly durable goods for millennia, and with good reason. A leather wallet like the Slim Sleeve can last a lifetime when treated right.

All Bellroy’s leather is produced by gold-rated Leather Working Group tanneries . That certification means that the leather is strong, durable, long-lasting, and meets the stringent and verified standards of the Leather Working Group for environmental, working standards, and labor practices. 

In our Bellroy Wallet Review, we found their products supple yet sturdy. The leather was more than able to stand up to moving around in a pocket all day long without showing marks or damage. 

Let’s be clear, though, these are leather goods.  They aren’t going to stand up to the kind of (ab)use that a carbon fiber or titanium hard shell EDC wallet can laugh off. They require essential consideration and care. So long as you give it to them, they’ll continue to look and function beautifully for years and years.

Our products are covered by a 3 year warranty from the day they were bought, when used under normal conditions and for the purpose intended. Try not to over stuff your Bellroy or put things in there that don’t belong (like ninja stars). If you do put more cards in there than recommended, things can stretch out of shape and put undue stress on the stitching and other materials.

This warranty covers faults in materials and workmanship and doesn’t apply if damage is caused by unreasonable use or neglect, normal wear and tear, or if you change your mind.

Use a leather cleaner on a monthly basis to preserve the materials and keep it looking new and fresh.”

When searching for the best wallet for men who carry cash, not only did we take into consideration how many bills it can hold, but we also considered which types of bills it can hold. The aptly named Bellroy Note Sleeve checked off all of our boxes for bills. 

With a 4.02-inch height, the Bellroy Note Wallet can hold US dollars, Australian dollars, and taller bills like British pounds and Euros. If you frequently travel or simply live in a country that has taller bills, you'll appreciate it. Plus, it has a coin holder for all of your non-paper currency.

Although I haven't done much traveling lately, I appreciate that my US dollars are completely out of sight when in the Bellroy Note Sleeve. Although low-profile wallets are designed to accommodate US dollar bills, I've found they can still stick out of the top when you have a lot of bills. I was able to fit more than 10 bills in the Note Wallet without any problem.

Ralph Lauren is one of my favorite brands to shop for timeless clothing, and its small leather goods and accessories are just as reliable in terms of style and quality. I had a similar Ralph Lauren leather billfold to the one listed above and I used it daily for nearly 8 years before replacing it with the Gucci wallet.

To be completely honest, I'd probably still be using it if I was never gifted a new one, and it still stands as one of the best men's wallets.  The leather and stitching have held up well, and it's not nearly as expensive as some other designer options. — Amir Ismael

There are a lot of imitators, but Secrid is a true innovator in minimalist aluminum wallets. The Cardslide combines the brand's Cardholder, which features a patented spring-loaded lever that lets you instantly access your cards, with a slide for storing paper money, up to two extra cards, and whatever else you need, and a Moneyband to hold even more cash. 

The coolest feature is the Cardholder. With a push of a button, your cards pop up. It holds four to six cards depending on whether they're embossed or not. When the cards are inside the case, they won't fall out, even with a good shake while upside down. Secrid won a prestigious Red Dot Design award for its Cardholder design. 

The slide is really just extra storage space, taking this from simply being a cardholder to more of an actual wallet. Secrid, which is a small family-owned business, ethically and sustainably produces its products in Holland. Best handcrafted: Tanner Goods Utility Bifold

Tanner Goods started out making belts using old-school hand tools in Portland, Oregon nearly 20 years ago. While the tools and techniques may have changed since then, the brand maintains a true sense of craftsmanship and heritage in constructing the best wallets for men. 

They handcraft the Utility Bifold in Minnesota from a sturdy 3.5 ounces of vegetable-tanned English Bridle leather. Bridle leather is both super durable - it was, after all, made to stand up to horse sweat and the elements — and extremely handsome and will only get better with age. They burnish and wax the leather wallet to bring out its natural beauty and for added longevity. 

Inside, there are four card pockets that hold two cards each, a traditional bill pocket, and two hidden pockets. While this isn't a minimalist wallet, it still fits in your front pocket. Tanner Goods really stands behind its products, offering a limited lifetime warranty. This wallet doesn't have lots of bells and whistles, but it is elegant, very well made, and will last you for years to come. Best waterproof: Skog Å Kust Plånbok Floating Waterproof Wallet

Skog Å Kust is a fairly young brand specializing in outdoor gear like all-weather backpacks and bags. The family-owned brand from Pennsylvania gets its name from the Swedish words for forest, creek, and coast. Their Plånbok Floating Waterproof Wallet is a go-to for camping, boating, fishing, and hiking. It's also great at forestalling having to dry out your stuff after your "hilarious" friend pushes you into a pool.

They make one of the best wallets for men by using Cordura ballistic ripstop fabric and welding the seams for a super lightweight (1.52 ounces) but tough and abrasion-resistant exterior. It's then coated with Thermoplastic Polyurethane, making it water and stain-proof, but still flexible. Inside this bifold-style wallet, there's room for six cards in three slots and folded cash (20 bills) you can store in the two waterproof zippered pockets, and it features a clear window for your ID. It also has a clip for keys that you can also hook onto your shorts for extra protection. But even at maximum capacity, the wallet still floats. 

It should be noted that while the wallet is waterproof, it's only guaranteed to protect your valuables if briefly submerged, as in if the wallet falls overboard while kayaking. It's not made to be underwater for extended periods, so maybe don't take it snorkeling. — Andrew Amelinckx

Money clips are so simple that you might not realize there is much difference between them. However, which clip you pick can mean the difference between a money clip that'll stretch after six months and cause you to literally drop your cash, or one that lasts you a lifetime.

The M-Clip V series falls into the latter category. More than just a simple folded piece of metal, the V series has an opening mechanism. To add or remove something, you just slide the lever bars back, making the clip look a bit like a clothespin. You pinch them to open the clip, and when you're done, slide them back down to close it.

The V Series money clip is a little bulkier than some flatter clips, but it makes up for that by using lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum. The spring mechanism is made with precision-machined stainless steel and is heat tempered to add to durability.

The inside of the clip is padded with Neoprene rubber grips — between these and the opening mechanism, there's virtually no chance of anything falling out of the clip. M-Clip says you can hold six to eight cards and at least eight to ten bills, which is generally equivalent to the capacity of a typical men's wallet. — David Slotnick

Herschel Supply Co. is likely most recognizable for its retro-inspired backpacks, but they also have smaller accessories to fit into their wide range of quality travel goods. The Charlie is an RFID-protected cardholder that fits a light EDC in a slim profile. It works great for carrying the bare necessities on your person, wrapped up in an animal-friendly material. 

The pebbled faux leather has a surprisingly supple texture that looks like genuine leather at a glance. If you just need your transit card, ID, and a couple bank cards, and you're already a Herschel loyalist, the vegan Charlie belongs in your collection. Carrying the bare essentials in a Mighty Wallet is like wearing an envelope in the shape of a wallet. The wallet debuted in the MoMA Design Store and is made of the paperlike material of Tyvek . Tyvek has the consistency and weight of paper, but is much more durable than Manila. It's also water and tear resistant, so won't be ruined if you happen to run it through the wash in your jean pockets. Upon first impression, it may look more like a novel origami wallet than the best lightweight wallet to securely hold your valuables. But its eight expandable compartments are expertly angled so everything is easily accessible and compacted. It only weighs 0.265 ounces— that's lighter than 2 credit cards— and is so miniature that I could sit down with it in my back pocket without feeling lopsided. —Gabrielle Chase

Best leather coin wallet: Harber London Leather Zip Coin Wallet

Leather goods brand London Harber launched in 2012 from a London apartment, intending to fill the gap in the market for quality laptop sleeves and has since expanded into other products, including leather wallets. The brand uses full-grain leather and Spanish artisans to craft the best wallets for men, which are minimalist in aesthetic, as with the Leather Zip Coin Wallet.  But you can pack a lot into it. 

This coin wallet has a front pocket for holding one card, but it opens widest when it's only holding coins in its main compartment. While this wallet doesn't have the traditional slot for paper money, there's room for holding enough coins to cover your trip to the laundromat.
