What is the best time to visit Kashmir?

The best time to visit Kashmir is from March to September. When spring arrives in late March, it brings with it blue skies, seasonal blooms and green meadows perfect for picnics. Summer, from May to September, sees mild temperatures, clear views and large crowds. This is the peak season in Kashmir, when hotel prices and airfares soar. This is the season for shikara rides on glassy lakes, walks through beautiful fruit orchards, relaxed hikes on pine-clad slopes and lazy afternoons spent on the riverside. July to September is the best time for longer treks like the Kashmir Great Lakes trek that takes you to the region’s high-altitude glacial lakes. Gardens like Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh are at their most beautiful in spring and summer. The Amarnath yatra pilgrimage also takes place in this season, usually between July and August. You can also expect scattered rain in Kashmir in the summer.

Autumn arrives in September and lasts through October. In this season, as the leaves of the chinar begin to turn, the landscape transforms into a sea of red and gold. Kashmir is glorious at this time, and it's worth planning a visit just to experience the gardens in autumn.

In November, temperatures begin to drop as winter arrives in the valley. Winter in Kashmir is harsh and long, with sub-zero temperatures and heavy snow in many parts of the region. The most intense part of the season is the Chillai Kalan, a 40-day period when Kashmir faces its harshest winter, with overcast skies and heavy snow. Flight cancellations and road closures can occur during this time, and it's best to check the latest weather forecasts and travel advisories. However, winter is the best time to visit Kashmir if you’re looking to holiday in the snow.

What is the best time to visit Kashmir for tulips?

Srinagar is home to Asia’s largest tulip garden, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden. Every year in spring, the garden, overlooking the Dal Lake, blooms with thousands of tulips in hues of red and yellow, violet and white. To experience the highlights of Kashmir’s major tourist spots, a 7-10 day trip is ideal. Spend 3 days in Srinagar, where there is so much to see and do. Glide down Dal Lake to see the city’s floating flower and vegetable market. Stroll through Shalimar Bagh, a Mughal garden dating back to the 1600s. Explore the architecture of the Old City and for a truly special experience, spend a night on a houseboat. From there, head to Pahalgam, which is beautiful in every season. Low Season – Monsoon

Kashmir In Summer (March to May)

Temperature – During summer, the temperatures are not very high and often don’t exceed a high of 30 to 31°C. The lower temperatures also range around 9 to 15°C.

Weather – Summer weather in Kashmir tends to be a little on the warm side, just enough for the locals to use their ceiling fans. Although the days are warm, the nights can still be quite cold.

Significance – Kashmir remains the dream of many newly married couples as the ultimate honeymoon destination , and why not? The weather is nearly perfect and a shikhara ride on the glassy surface of the Dal Lake is every romantic’s dream come true. If you can make it, try going on a shikhara ride early in the day during the morning prayers. The shikharas serve as markets in the morning and the scene is surreal and beautiful. Kashmir during the summers is also a great chance to observe the way of life of the people in the valley. Some people like to stay in the houseboats that are stationed on the lake and its overall a delightful experience.

Why you should visit now – Summer in Kashmir is quite thrilling because of the sights of the pretty flowers in the Mughal Gardens, which bloom profusely during this time. During summer, Kashmir also is the destination for many pilgrims who want to visit Amarnath for the Amarnath Yatra . Other places like Pahalgam and Sonamarg are stunning during the summer, making it the best time to visit Kashmir. With the weather being so clear and gorgeous, it explains why many people plan their summer vacations in Kashmir. However, it’s best to stay clear of Jammu as it can be quite hot during this time.

Things to know before the visit – Since summer is peak season, be prepared for skyrocketing prices of hotels and other such establishments. Even flight tickets are expensive and since tourism plays a huge role in the economy, everything shoots up during this time, whether it’s the taxi or autos on the road or the shikhara boat rides. Nevertheless, most of these problems can be avoided if you book everything in advance.

Tips – Summer in Kashmir might be a little warm, but evenings and nights can get quite cold. If you don’t want to experience the uncomfortable cold, then make sure you carry some warm clothes with you such as shawls, jackets, mufflers, mittens and socks. During the day, don’t forget to use some sunscreen and lip balm to prevent dry skin from creating an agonising experience. Don’t miss out trying out the authentic Kashmiri wazwan dining experience when you’re here.

Kashmir In Monsoon (June to September)

Temperature – During the time, the temperature ranges from lows of 15°C to highs of 30°C.

Weather – During monsoon, the rains reduce some of the summer heat, especially in places like Jammu. However, not all parts of Kashmir get rainfall equally and thus the weather also varies quite a bit.

Significance – Although monsoons are considered as an off season or shoulder season in Kashmir, visiting here during the monsoons can be an experience in itself. The warm sunny days of summer are just behind us and the clouds cover the sky often, resulting in showers that cool the earth. The weather is pleasant and comfortable and nearly perfect in many aspects.

Why you should visit now – Since many people consider the monsoons to be off season, you will be able to get some good deals on hotels or package tours and thus save money. Flight tickets are also reasonably priced during this time. Monsoon in Kashmir is also when apple-picking takes place and you can consider yourself lucky if you’re able to take part in this activity.

Things to know before the visit – Many people prefer to avoid visiting Kashmir during monsoon because the rain might hamper their plans of sightseeing. But it’s always a great idea to check weather forecasts before you leave as not all places are rainy and there’s a good chance you will get to enjoy the many sights here without facing tourist rush.

Tips – Although monsoon is not as cold as winter, it can still be quite chilly for those who are not used to the weather in Kashmir. Although monsoon brings with some humidity as well, you have to bring along your rain gear and other such items such as raincoats, jackets and some sturdy boots.

Kashmir In Winter (November to February)

Temperature – From the months of November to February, expect low temperatures of 0°C and sub-zero too. High temperatures don’t often go beyond 15°C.

Weather – The weather is significantly colder now as temperatures often go below zero. Nights can get very cold at this time and you can see snow in Srinagar, Gulmarg and Sonmarg. For those who relish the idea of a winter wonderland, then Kashmir during winter can get quite exciting. Jammu is not as cold as Srinagar and that’s why it’s the winter capital.

Significance – Although winter is not the preferred time to visit Kashmir for many people as the cold acts as a deterrent, this is the perfect time for winter sports. With snow all around you, it often looks like a sea of white and places like Gulmarg can look quite enchanting. If you love cold weather and enjoy playing in the snow, then this is definitely the best time to visit Kashmir.Make sure that you also know How to reach Kashmir in the most convenient manner

Why you should visit now – Srinagar tends to be colder than Jammu but people still come here nonetheless. Of course, December and January might actually get very cold for non-locals to feel comfortable but otherwise, Kashmir in December has everything dreamy written all over it. The Pir-Panjal range is also covered with snow completely, making for an enchanting sight. Winter is also the time when winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding really takes off. There are also cable car rides that are stunning and unforgettable. The sea of white in Gulmarg can be most wonderful if you’re secretly a snow queen or king at heart.

Things to know before the visit – Most activities that are possible during the rest of the year, such as shikhara rides on the Dal Lake and visiting the Mughal Gardens are not feasible during winter. So don’t be disappointed if you’re not able to do any of those activities. However, winter visits are perfect for winter sports and for enthusiastic trekkers. Since winter is also a popular time for visiting Kashmir, you might find that hotel prices and flight tickets are higher around this time. It’s always a better idea to book your package tour in advance so you pay competitive rates.

Tips – Winter in Kashmir, if you’re not in Jammu especially, can be quite cold. Getting warm clothes with you is a must. Sweaters, jackets, warm socks, mufflers, mittens and thermal underwear have to be included in your packing or you will not be able to endure the cold weather. People are also known to get dehydrated in winter because they don’t drink enough water. Make sure you sip lots of warm water or even kahwa to ensure your body is working just fine.

Kashmir In Autumn (October to November)

Temperature – Kashmir’s brief autumn temperatures range from lows of 9°C to highs of at least 20°C.

Weather – The weather during this time has a bite of chill in it certainly as winter is almost here at this time. Still, it can be considered cool and not extremely cold. During evenings and nights, it can reach 0°C and if you’re someone who has come from warmer climes, you’re going to find this weather quite cold. Mornings can be misty, but the autumn sun is also refreshing and toasty warm.

Significance – Kashmir’s beauty during autumn is simply breathtaking during this time. The leaves on the famed chinar trees turn copper and gold and as far as you can see, lined along avenues, you will find trees flush with red-gold-yellow leaves and the ground is often carpeted with them. The vision is absolutely spectacular and unforgettable.

Why you should visit now – During autumn, places like Srinagar and nearby Dachigam turn into gorgeous sights with the trees turning shades of gold. With weather being reasonably cool and not too cold, many people consider this to be the best time to visit Kashmir. Apple-picking and other harvestings also take place during this time. Kashmir during autumn is indeed magnificent and resplendent with its rich colours.

Things to know before the visit – Since it’s so close to winter, not many people head to Kashmir during this time as they think it would be too cold.Know the things to do in Kashmir before visiting. Also, since it’s shoulder season, you might be able to get a decent deal on hotel bookings and flights.

Tips – If you’re headed to Kashmir during the autumn months, do find out if there’s any apple-picking happening nearby so you can also join in, if it’s allowed. Another thing to remember is that despite being nearly normal weather for Kashmiris, you might still find it cold, so do pack your clothes as though for winter. Sometimes, it snows during this time too, so you don’t want to be caught unprepared.

Best Time to Visit Kashmir

Let me start by first providing a detailed breakdown of all 12 months. After that, I will move on to describe which month will be the best for which activity.

Kashmir Trip in January

January is the month when all of Kashmir is covered under a thick sheet of white. Places like Gulmarg, Sonamarg , and Pahalgam continue to receive heavy snowfall throughout the month and even the roads can sometimes get blocked.

The average temperature at this time remains to be close to 0 degrees Celsius. It gets even colder at night with the temperature plummeting several degrees below 0 as soon as the sun goes down.

January is a good time to visit if you want to see a white Kashmir and snowfall. This is also the best time for snow sports like skiing. There is even a winter festival held in January in Gulmarg and skiing competitions take place.

January is not a good time if you are not fond of the cold weather and cannot bear the freezing temperatures. It is also not a good time for photography and trekking.

If you were a budget traveler or sometimes who tends to avoid the crowd, you should skip January. A lot of people visit Kashmir in January to see the snow. This results in all the tourist spots getting crowded and prices of almost everything rocketing sky-high.

Kashmir Trip in February

Much like January, February also is a good time to go if you want to see snow. In fact, the snow on the ground in the early part of the month will be even more than in January.

The weather will continue to remain terribly cold throughout the month. The average temperature will range between 0 to 10 degrees Celsius, depending on the time of the day and the location. The night temperature will drop below 0 still.

One thing that you should keep in mind is that in the winter months, places like Sonamarg, Gurez Valley, Doodhpathri , and Yusmarg may become accessible. Depending on the snow on the ground, the road may remain blocked throughout the month.

February is a good time to go if you want to enjoy the winter in Kashmir and see plenty of snow all around. It is a bad time to go if you want to visit any of the offbeat destinations I listed above, or if you were a budget traveler.

Kashmir Trip in March

The snow starts to melt in the month of March and is mostly all gone from the lower regions by the end of it. There could still be light snowfalls in places like Gulmarg and Sonamarg but the intensity will not be that high.

By the end of March, the roads to Sonamarg and Gurez Valley also get declared open. The weather however will still remain very cold and you should pack your clothes accordingly.

March is considered to be a good time for a honeymoon in Kashmir. You will still find snow in a lot of places like Gulmarg Gondola, Thajiwas Glacier , Zojila Pass, and Razdan Pass . The views will be a mix of both white and green.

The weather as I stated above will be cold but not as cold as it was in the previous months. The temperature in Srinagar in March can go as high as 15 to 20 degrees Celsius sometimes. Take a look at the video below to find out how Kashmir looks in the winter season

Kashmir Trip in April

April is one of the peak tourist months in Kashmir and there will be tourists all around unless there was some sort of unrest in the valley.

You may not even find a hotel in Kashmir in April and the ones available will be overcharging like crazy. So it is definitely not a good time for a budget trip.

On the other hand, the weather in April is just perfect. It will neither be too hot nor too cold. The average temperature will range between 10 to 20 degrees Celsius pretty much everywhere and you will be able to enjoy the trip properly.

April is also the time of the spring season. This is when the famous Tulip Garden is in full bloom. The views will be lush all around surrounded by snow-capped mountains.

Chances of snowfall in April are rare. But you can still find some snow on the ground in Thajiwas Glacier, Gulmarg Gondola , Zoji La, and Razdan Pass. This is also the time when you will find a lot of families vacationing in Kashmir.

Kashmir Trip in May

The weather starts to turn a little hot in May. You will actually be surprised at how hot it can actually get in places like Srinagar or Gurez Valley during the day.

May is the perfect time if you want to go on a trek. There are hundreds of treks leading out of Srinagar, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam and all of them remain accessible in the month of May.

It is also a good time for a budget trip if you wanted to plan toward the end of the month. Depending on the tourist rush, you may be able to get a better deal on accommodation.

The average temperature in May will range between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius, with nights being slightly colder. You can easily manage the entire trip in just your regular cotton clothes and a light jacket. A jacket will only be needed in the early mornings or late evenings.

Kashmir Trip in June

If planning a trip in June, it would be best to do so towards the start of the month for 2 reasons. The first is that the monsoon season hits Kashmir in late June. The second reason is that the Amarnath Yatra also begins at the end of June and Kashmir will start to get crowded once again.

The weather will be hot in lower regions like Srinagar and Pahalgam and pleasant in the upper areas like Gulmarg and Sonamarg. The average temperature will range between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius and you only need your regular clothes for a trip in June.

It is another good month to go trekking in Kashmir. All of the treks will remain accessible and the weather, as you trek up to the higher reaches, will be perfect. It is also a good time to enjoy camping in Kashmir.

Kashmir Trip in July

July may not be the best time to plan a trip to Kashmir because of the monsoon season. If it was raining heavily, it may very well ruin all your sightseeing plans and trap you indoors in the hotel.

Amarnath Yatra will also be on in July. There will be a lot of people, especially in Sonamarg and Pahalgam. Finding a place to stay can also become a challenge this month.

In terms of the weather, it will still be hot with the average temperature ranging between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. It is also not a good time for trekking expeditions because of the monsoon.

On the upside, the views in July will be great. Because of the rains, it will be lush green all around and you will love the scenery.

best time to visit kashmir

Kashmir Trip in August

Security measures are tightened around Independence Day and the overall environment gets a little tense. It may not be the best idea to visit Kashmir in the week of 15th August.

Monsoon season will be in full swing and it will continue to rain throughout the month. Amarnath Yatra gets over sometime in August so yes, it will also be a bit crowded in early August.

Towards the end of the month though, there will hardly be anyone around. August is considered the off-season which makes it a great time for anyone wanting to be away from the crowd for a while.

It is also a good time for budget travelers because, with the lesser number of tourists, hotels and taxi drivers wouldn’t mind dropping their rates a little bit. Flight costs to Srinagar are also a little cheaper this month.

Kashmir Trip in September

September is my favorite month to visit Kashmir or anywhere else in the Himalayas for that matter. Monsoon would be all gone but would have left plenty of greenery behind. The scenery will be breathtaking, making it a perfect time for a photography trip.

The weather in September starts to turn a bit colder. The days will still be very hot in lower areas like Srinagar but pleasant in the upper reaches of the valley. The average temperature will range between 15 to 25 degrees Celsius.

September is also considered to be the off-season and will suit budget travelers. With moderate weather and pleasant views, it is also a good time to plan a honeymoon trip to Kashmir.

Kashmir Trip in October

October marks the arrival of the autumn season. All that was green in September will now start to turn Orange. It is a good time to go only if you want to see the autumn colors in the valley. For this as well, you should plan to visit after 15th October.

October is a dry month in Kashmir. The only color you will see is orange in the Chinar trees but other than that, it will just be dry grass all around. It is not a good time to visit if lush green views were on your mind.

Surprisingly though, tourism this month increases because of the Durga Puja holidays. Hotel prices increase and the overall cost of the trip will turn out to be a little higher.

best time to visit kashmir

Kashmir Trip in November

November is the time of the red. All that was orange in the Chinar trees will now turn red, giving a magical look to the valley. But all this is in the initial part of the month. By November mid, the trees would have shed their leaves and the scenery would just be dull and dry.

You should visit Kashmir in November only if you are on a budget trip. Other than that, it is not a good time to visit at all. The weather would have gotten cold and there won’t even be any snow around.

Kashmir Trip in December

It starts to snow in Kashmir sometime in October itself. The upper regions and the mountain peaks continue to receive light spells of snow throughout November and early December.

It is only by the end of December that it starts to snow heavily in places like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam.

The roads to Sonamarg, Gurez, Doodhpathri, and Yusmarg get closed towards the end of the month. The temperature will start dropping close to 0 degrees at night. Overall, it is a dry month and not a good time to go unless you are on a tight budget.

If you wanted to see snow, you should plan your trip to Kashmir in December only in the latter part of the month, in the last week or 10 days.

Summer Sunshine in Kashmir

Summers in kashmir: a pleasant escape to paradise.

Stretching from late March to July, summers in Kashmir turn the region into paradise on earth. While there’s an exotic charm in its frost-laden winters, the summer in Kashmir only amplifies the allure to an extent that can’t be summed up in words.

During this season, the weather becomes absolutely delightful with temperatures ranging between 15°C to 30°C. The mild climate is not just moderately warm but punctuated with a cool breeze flowing from the Himalayan glaciers, making it an ideal retreat from the scorching heat prevalent in most parts of the country.

Exploring the lush landscapes

Summer is undeniably the best time to explore the lush green landscapes of Kashmir. The valley blooming with flowers in every hue enhances the picturesque backdrop with hypnotic charm. Whether you are a nature lover or a photography enthusiast, there’s no way you won’t be mesmerized by nature’s canvas painting.

Trek the untrodden trails of Sonmarg

Sonmarg, known as ‘The Meadow of Gold’, shines its brightest during summers. The high-altitude trekking trails that get hidden under heavy snowfall in winters open up. Thus the passionate trekkers and hikers get an excellent chance to trek untouched high-altitude mountain trails and be rewarded with breathtakingly beautiful vistas.

Stroll around the Dal Lake

Another must-do activity during the summers in Kashmir is to stroll around the famous Dal Lake. Or better still, take a Shikara ride on the lake and soak in the tranquil atmosphere. The play of the sun’s light on the calm waters of the Dal Lake makes it a sight for sore eyes.

Tulip Festival: A riot of colors

Come April, and you get to witness the Kashmir valley in full bloom. The annual Tulip festival held in April at Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, Srinagar, is a sight to behold. The place turns into a riot of colors with millions of tulips blooming in all shades imaginable, making it a unique spectacle one can’t miss during this time of the year.

A visit to Kashmir during summers promises a kaleidoscope of activities and experiences, making it the perfect vacation destination for all types of travelers – be it families, honeymooners, solo travelers, or trekking enthusiasts.

Autumn Anecdotes in Kashmir

Autumn magic in kashmir.

As the calendar turns to September, the Kashmir valley slowly transitions into a dreamy tableau, an artist’s masterpiece lovingly crafted from nature’s palette. The Chinar trees, an iconic part of Kashmir’s landscape, initiate the season’s shift, with their summer green hues turning to fiery reds. A kaleidoscopic display of red, orange, and gold, the Chinar leaves provide a mesmerizing backdrop against the clear blue skies.

The temperatures during these months are pleasurable and soothing, ranging from a crisp 10°C to a warm 27°C. This climate is ideal for exploring the valley comfortably, whether by leisurely walks or adventurous hikes. The bright days and cool evenings contribute to the overall enchanting atmosphere.

Autumn in Kashmir is not just about the scenic beauty but also about rich, aromatic flavors. Visitors have the unique experience of participating in apple picking. As you pluck ripe, juicy apples, the orchards of Kashmir come alive with activity and joy. If you have a sweet tooth, don’t miss the delicious opportunity to taste the freshly made apple jams and jellies.

Discovery in the Saffron Fields of Pampore

For a moving spectacle of beauty and commerce in tandem, head to the town of Pampore, where vast fields of saffron come into bloom in the autumn. The jade green fields burst into a sea of violet as the precious spice flowers, creating an unforgettable sight. If you’re an avid photographer, Pampore’s saffron fields serve as an exquisite subject for capturing the season’s bloom.

Coupled with the visual treat, tourists can also learn about the intricate labor that goes into cultivating and harvesting saffron, considered to be the most expensive spice in the world.

A trip to Kashmir in autumn, from September to November, reveals the region in a new light, adorned with autumnal hues of foliage, bountiful harvests of apples, and precious blooming saffron.

Wintry Wonders of Kashmir

Winter wonderland: experience kashmir in its winter glory.

Visiting Kashmir during the winter months of December to February is an enchanting spectacle unlike any other. With temperatures dipping to sub-zero degrees, the valley is transformed into a picturesque winter wonderland. If the idea of snow-laden landscapes and frosty vistas excites you, winter in this region of northern India is an experience you can’t afford to miss.

Adventures on Snow: Skiing, Snowboarding and More

The winter season in Kashmir offers the perfect setting for thrill-seekers and adventure enthusiasts. The thick blanket of snow that covers the valley during this time invites visitors to enjoy a range of exciting activities. You can have a ball of a time skiing down the snowy slopes, snowboarding in the crisp winter air, or ice-skating on frozen lakes and streams. The adrenaline rush, coupled with the extraordinary scenery, is truly an experience to remember.

The Charm of Traditional Kashmiri Hospitality

As the cold sets in, Kashmir’s traditional form of heating also comes into play. This is the time to experience ‘Kangri’ and ‘Pheran’- an integral part of Kashmiri lifestyle during winters. Kangri is an earthen pot filled with hot embers, which locals carry under their ‘Pheran’- a long warm cloak, to keep themselves warm. This unique tradition resembles the warm hospitality of the people there who welcome tourists with open arms despite the harsh weather conditions, making their winter trip to Kashmir all the more memorable.

So, if you are planning a winter getaway, consider Kashmir! Along with the sweeping views of the snow-kissed mountain range and adventure sports, you’ll get a chance to experience the traditional charm of Himalayan hospitality. Whether you’re seeking adventure or just want to sit back and enjoy the magnificent views, Kashmir has everything to make your winter holiday experience unforgettable.

Spring’s Spiritual Side in Kashmir

Kashmir in spring: a breathing canvas of blooms.

Experience the magic of Kashmir when it adorns a riot of colors from March to early May. As nature shakes off the winter chill and embraces the warmth of spring, the valley undergoes a picturesque transformation. The weather during these months is delightfully pleasant, devoid of the harsh winter blues and the scorching summer heat.

Blooms to Behold: Cherry and Almond Blossoms

To make the valley seem straight out of a fairytale, the almond and cherry blossoms start blooming, adding hues of pink and white against the background of lush greenery. The gardens become a seascape of color, creating stunning landscapes that are a treat to the eyes. Photographers and nature enthusiasts alike find it hard to resist the captivating beauty of these blooms.

Cultural Extravaganza: Navreh and Tulip Festival

Coinciding with the floral bloom is the celebration of ‘Navreh’, the Kashmiri New Year. It fills the air with a festive spirit and offers a peek into the rich cultural traditions of the region. The locals exchange traditional delicacies and host feasts, providing tourists with opportunities to delve into the local cuisine.

But the true highlight of spring in Kashmir is the world-renowned Tulip Festival. One of the most significant events in Kashmir, it celebrates the blooming of tulips in the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, which boasts of the largest tulip garden in Asia. The festival displays an incredible variety of tulips, attracting flower aficionados from all corners of the globe.

Spiritual Springtime

These spring celebrations infuse a spiritual essence into the trip, making it more than just a visual spectacle. Visiting the region during this time gives visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the local customs and traditions, all amidst an idyllic setting of resplendent natural beauty. The spring season in Kashmir thus marries scenic brilliance with cultural richness, promising a travel experience that’s both fulfilling and unforgettable.

As the seemingly ever-changing kaleidoscope of seasons in Kashmir spins around, each season offers a distinctive experience, each painting a unique picture on the canvas of this paradise on Earth. Whether you want to soak in the summer sunshine amidst green landscapes, watch the red-golden hues of autumn leaves, witness the captivating winter snowfalls or admire the vivacious bursts of spring bloom, there’s a time and a place in Kashmir which can provide the perfect backdrop for your travel tales. Indeed, the magic of Kashmir is so intoxicating that once you visit, you too might echo the words of the famous 17th-century Mughal Emperor Jahangir, ‘If there is a paradise on earth, It is this, it is this, it is this’.

Pahalgam is well known for its annual snowfall festival, which takes place during the winter months, and as a result, it has been luring tourists, artists, and poets from all over the world in recent years. In the Jammu and Kashmir regions, the town of Sopore is situated in the Baramulla district. Known as the Apple Town of Kashmir, it is located next to Wular Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Asia. During the apple harvesting season, Sopore's apple gardens play host to a large number of vacationers. The best time to visit Sopore, Kashmir, for apple markets and orchids for apple picking is September.

It's beautiful to see the apple trees flourishing. Those who appreciate nature and apples shouldn't pass up the opportunity to see the bright red apples that provide a striking contrast to the surrounding greenery. This city of many colours has great weather, a lovely smell from the saffron fields, and inhabitants that are easy to work with. It is never ending to get enough of the saffron fields and the abundant culture that can be found in Pulwama.

The city of Jammu is undoubtedly one of the most well-known locations in the Kashmir region. As you are probably aware, the city is blessed by the existence of the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, which is revered as a holy site for followers of the Hindu religion. It is famously known as the City of Temples because of the large number of places of worship that can be found here, such as the Peer Baba Temple, the Mahamaya Temple, and the Peer Khoh Temple. In addition to its spiritual significance, the city is adorned with the picturesque attractiveness and rough allure of Bahu Fort.

Kashmir, mostly known as "heaven on Earth," is one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of India. You will need to organise a busy and varied itinerary if you want to see snowfall in Kashmir in addition to the state's many other popular tourist attractions. The best period to Visit Kashmir is in the winter for the optimal chances of experiencing snowfall.

Prepare yourself for the chills and thrills that winter has to offer, pack your best winter clothing, and be ready for winter to arrive this year in Kashmir.

best time to travel kashmir

Hello! My partner and I are planning a month-long stay in Kashmir around August-end and September 2024. We both work for virtual offices so we will be working Monday-Friday and exploring on weekends. Below are some of the questions I have:

1. We will need continuous internet as we work online. We will be purchasing postpaid Airtel SIMs and looking for stays with WiFi. Is WiFi reliable or are there sudden outages? Is Jio better or Airtel?

3. Here is how I'm planning - 1 weekend in Sonmarg, 1 in Gulmarg , 1 in Pahalgam , and 1 in Patnitop. Are there any other exciting places we can visit over a weekend?

4. Will we have to rely on cabs or can we take public transport to get from place A to B? Also, can anyone help with approx. cab rates and any negotiation tips?

5. Any itinerary tips or other ideas welcome!
