Where can you get tickets?

Tickets for the North American leg of the tour will be available through Ticketmaster's Verified Fan program. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Feb 6, with an exclusive presale to BeyHive members, according to a Live Nation press release.

Verified Fan registration is now open. Once you register, you'll be placed in a lottery system that determines which fans get invited to purchase tickets. Registration alone doesn't guarantee tickets. If you're selected, you'll get an access code the day before tickets go on sale. Everyone else will be placed on a waitlist. According to Live Nation, this process is intended to help Ticketmaster weed out the resellers and verify your account so that actual fans get priority to buy tickets.

Citi cardmembers will have a special Citi Presale after the Verified Fan process. Get more details here . Verizon will also offer an exclusive presale through their customer loyalty program Verizon Up .

Will Beyoncé be using Ticketmaster like Taylor Swift to sell tickets?

Yes, but given what happened with Taylor Swift's Eras tour (and the fact it led to Congressional hearings about Ticketmaster ’s practices), it seems very likely both Beyoncé and Ticketmaster would want to avoid repeating that mess. That most likely explains the usage of the Verified Fan system.

Where will Beyoncé be playing?

The Renaissance World Tour will hit 40 cities in North America and across Europe. Stops include Paris, London, Amsterdam, Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Houston, and many more.

What has Beyoncé said about the Renaissance World Tour?

She just announced it was happening with a post on February 1. Her website didn't immediately contain any more details. But during the Wearable Art Gala in October 2022, she appeared to confirm it would start this summer, as a backstage tour with her mother Tina Lawson was up for auction at the event.

Will Beyoncé be performing at the Grammys (on February 5) and sharing more tour details there?

Not clear yet, but she is the most nominated artist at the ceremony . On January 21, Variety reported that “ talks with show producers are ongoing for a possible onstage appearance ” by Beyoncé.

What can we expect from the tour on stage?

Beyoncé hasn't shared that yet either, but given the artistry she put into her recent Dubai show , it's fair to say we can expect no less than excellence, elaborate costumes, and an incredible experience.

This post will be updated the moment more detail is released.

How to get tickets for Beyoncé’s 2023 Renaissance UK tour

It’s finally happening, folks

Huw Oliver

Calling all members of the Bey Hive: the time has finally come. Beyoncé has announced that she will be touring her latest album, ‘Renaissance’, released in July last year. Much to our delight, the superstar confirmed the live dates were happening at the Wearable Art Gala in California on October 22, and now the European and North American legs of the Renaissance World Tour have been announced.

There is a huge amount of hype around Bey returning to British shores, and people are already calling for the star to add more dates to her tour to satisfy demand.  There’s been a serious scramble for tickets so far, with many fans complaining on Twitter that they were kicked out before reaching the front of the presale queue.

RECOMMENDED: The best Beyoncé songs of all time

We expect that when the general tickets finally drop for ‘Renaissance’ in the UK they will sell out mega fast, so make sure to keep an eye out and plan ahead. H ere’s everything you need to know about Beyoncé’s 2023 UK shows.

When do Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour tickets go on sale?

An O2 presale has already taken place, as well as separate Live Nation and venue presales.

The BeyHive presale will go live on Monday February 6 from 9am to 6pm, while g eneral public sale will start at 10am on Tuesday February 7 .

How much do tickets cost?

As expected, tickets don’t come cheap. Prices for Beyoncé’s UK dates range from £56.25 for a seated ticket to £106.80 for a standing ticket, plus fees. VIP packages range from £1,960 to an eye-watering £2,400 for the VIP ‘Pure/Honey On Stage Risers: Front Row Experience’ (again, plus fees). Ouch.

What is the BeyHive presale?

The BeyHive Presale, available via Ticketmaster, allows access to an early ticket sale. It’s open on Monday February 6, between 9am and 6pm.

To be a member of the official BeyHive, you must already be signed up to Beyonce’s mailing list through her website. Unfortunately, registration has closed, so if you’re not already a member, you’ll have to wait for the general sale.

Who will support Beyoncé on her tour?

Now that the tour has been announced, there has been a lot of speculation around who Bey will be choosing to follow her around the world to open the show for her.

There have been rumours that Beyoncé has been considering British girl group Flo, who will receive the Rising Star Award at the 2023 Brit Awards. Other potential openers who will join Bey on stage are the Nigerian singer Tems, as well as English singer and rapper Bree Runway.

When did Beyonce last tour in the UK?

Beyoncé’s last tour in the UK was back in 2018 with her husband Jay-Z for her show ‘On The Run II’. The couple performed a total of six acts that included a mix of both of the stars’ songs such as ‘Crazy in Love’, ‘99 Problems’ and ‘Run the World (Girls)’.

They started the tour in Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester and London before moving onto the rest of Europe and finishing the tour back in the USA.

Before that, Bey toured the UK in 2016 with The Formation World Tour in support of her album ‘Lemonade’.

How many fans does the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hold?

Three of the UK’s six dates are being held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London.

The Tottenham website says: “The capacity of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is 62,850. It is a multi-purpose sports, leisure and entertainment destination hosting Tottenham Hotspur home matches alongside a minimum of two NFL matches per year and a number of other events and concerts.”

However, it is unclear how many people may be able to attend the concert as some people will be able to stand on the pitch, and some seats are likely to be blocked off as they will be behind the stage.

The Principality Stadium in Cardiff can hold 73,931 spectators, while the BT Murrayfield Stadium has a capacity of 67,144, is the largest in Scotland, and is the home of Scottish rugby.

Beyoncé Renaissance Tour Tickets 2023: Dates, Venues, Prices

Beyoncé adds more london dates to her renaissance tour as demand soars.

beyonce tour uk venues

It's the news the Bey Hive have been waiting for. Beyoncé is finally heading on a world tour this year to celebrate her renaissance — literally. Since the "Break My Soul" singer released her seventh solo album , titled "Renaissance" in July 2022, barely a week has gone by without fans questioning when news of an accompanying tour would be announced. And on 1 Feb. those prayers were answered.

Beyoncé teased the news early on her Instagram , with a photo taken from the epic "Renaissance" album art , alongside the caption, "RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR 2023" but no other details were revealed. Just two hours later, the full list of cities hosting Bey was officially unveiled along with dates and ticket info. She will be kicking off the tour in Stockholm, Sweden on 10 May, travelling around the UK and Europe before heading over to the US and ending on 27 Sept. in New Orleans.

Tickets went on general sale on 7 Feb. and already another date has been added due to to high demand. And fans could not contain their excitement — and stress — at trying to get the golden tickets. One Twitter user hilariously posted, "beyoncé is going on tour!!!! Gos pls, i will sell my daddy's entire side of the family for some tickets for my girl n i", while another wrote , "beyonce world tour?????? I can't function until I get tickets it's serious." Now let's be honest, demand is going to be through the roof. It's the first time Beyoncé has toured in five years, her last shows were part of the "On the Run II" tour with her husband, Jay-Z, in 2018, with the "Formation" tour prior which took place in 2016 to coincide with the "Lemonade" album.

Most recently, the 41-year-old Grammy-winning icon performed at the opening of Dubai's Atlantis The Royal hotel , even bringing her daughter Blue Ivy onstage for a sweet duet . But fans were quick to realise she omitted songs from her "Renaissance" album, leading to speculation that she would be debuting these live on an upcoming tour. It turns out, they were right.

Read below for everything you need to know about Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour.

Beyoncé's ‘Renaissance’ 2023 Tour: Dates, Venues And Tickets

Beyoncé is taking 'Renaissance' on tour

By Kathryn Knight

Beyoncé finally announced a ‘Renaissance’ world tour for 2023!

Beyoncé ’s ‘Renaissance’ album was one of the biggest albums of the summer last year after the pop icon jumped on the disco-inspired dance music hype, taking it to a whole new level.

Bey confirmed the worldwide tour of stadiums earlier this year and released a string of dates, after she subtly let slip her plans to hit the road during the fifth annual Wearable Art Gala in October last year.

The ‘Cuff It’ singer donated two concert tickets to ‘Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ 2023 tour, as well as a backstage tour from the Queen Bee’s mum herself, Miss Tina.

What will the stage be like for the Renaissance World Tour?

According to reports, the stage for Bey's tour is set to be huge.

A source close to the production revealed that: "The structure for the stage is gigantic and on a totally different scale from any other tour right now – that’s why she needed a huge venue to rehearse in.

And she can’t run through the show in any of the stadiums she is performing in because they aren’t soundproofed and people would hear what she was preparing.

She is on top form and is pulling out all the stops to make this a truly groundbreaking tour."

Tickets to the UK Renaissance tour dates 2023 go on general sale from Tuesday, February 7 - but some fans can get presale

Beyonce has announced a North east date on her new Renaissance global tour

Beyoncé has announced her Renaissance tour dates for 2023. The Run The World hitmaker will perform at four venues across the UK in May this year but Manchester isn't one of them.

Tickets will go on sale for her UK shows from Tuesday, February 7 and will be available from merchants including Ticketmaster and Live Nation . The tour will support her new album Renaissance, which was released in July and hailed by critics as a ‘banging tour de force’ and a ‘master class in the evolution of dance music’.

They’ll be Beyoncé’s first solo shows on these shores since 2016, when she brought her Formation World Tour to London, Manchester, Glasgow, Sunderland, Cardiff and Dublin, in support of her hit album Lemonade. The singer also toured the UK in 2018 with husband Jay-Z on their co-headline On The Run II shows in Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester and London.

Last summer she was reported to be plotting her return with a series of intimate shows and pop-up performances, followed by a huge tour. In October, the superstar attended the fifth annual Wearable Art Gala with her husband Jay Z and eldest daughter Blue Ivy, and appeared to confirm the 2023 tour.

The 2023 tour, produced by Parkwood Entertainment, and promoted by Live Nation, kicks off on May 10, 2023, at Friends Arena in Stockholm, making stops throughout Europe in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Sunderland, Paris, London, Marseille, Amsterdam, Warsaw and more.

The tour then continues across North America with shows in Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Houston and more.

It’s a 'Love Story': Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour to provide nearly £1bn boost to UK economy

  • Swifties attending the Eras Tour in the UK each predicted to splash out £848 on tickets, travel, accommodation, outfits, and other expenses
  • Spending by Eras Tour ticket-holders is more than 12 times the average cost of a UK night out (£67)
  • Almost 1.2m fans will catch the Superstar when Taylor Swift visits the UK this summer for 15 performances across four cities
  • Eras Tour tickets sparked a 15.8 per cent year-on-year increase in UK spending on entertainment when they were released last July
  • The Swiftonomics report – part of Barclays’ Consumer Spend research – combines hundreds of millions of customer transactions with consumer research to provide an in-depth view of Swiftie spending trends

New data from Barclays reveals that Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated Eras Tour is predicted to provide a £997m 1 boost to the UK economy, with Swifties forking out £848 on average to see their idol at one of the 15 UK tour dates.

The Swiftonomics report shows that spending by The Lucky One s attending a tour date is expected to be more than 12 times the average cost of a UK night out (£67) 2 , more than twice the amount spent attending UK-based weddings (£398) 3 , and even higher than the cost of a UK-based stag or hen do (£779) 4 .

Brits never go out of Style

After tickets, fans will spend the most on accommodation (£121), with other notable costs including travel (£111) and clothing for the big event (£56), with almost a fifth (18 per cent) buying a new outfit especially for the concert.

Meanwhile, £79 is expected to be spent on official merchandise at the tour stops in London, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Cardiff, as well as £59 on a pre-concert meal, boosting sales at restaurants near the tour’s venues.

Adding up the total spending for Brits on the UK leg alone – that’s 1.2 million tickets over 15 nights and four stadiums at capacity, with merchandise, outfits, food, accommodation, travel and more – the Eras Tour is expected to bring in almost £1 billion (£997m) to the UK’s experience economy.

Fans splash out on Bejeweled VIP tickets

The average amount spent on an Eras Tour ticket is £206, yet for 14 per cent of fans, including those who purchased VIP ticket packages with premium seating and exclusive merchandise, the total exceeds £400.

The new figures come after Barclays Consumer Spend data revealed a surge in consumer spending during the pre-release window for the Eras Tour last July – with entertainment jumping 15.8 per cent compared to July 2022. Across the whole of 2023, the entertainment sector (up 7.5 per cent) was also boosted by the release of ticket sales for major events including the Eurovision Song Contest and Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ tour, with spending on live shows and concerts up 8.6 per cent year-on-year overall.

So Long, London – UK Swifties prepared to travel far and wide

One in four (26 per cent) Fearless fans say they had to or will have to travel to a different city in order to attend the Eras Tour, while one in five (19 per cent) intend to see Swift perform in mainland Europe instead of the UK – possibly due to ticket availability, cheaper travel and accommodation costs, or simply so that they can combine the concert with holiday or city break.

Long Live the pre-show excitement

As eager fans wait to attend the live show, 28 per cent have watched or plan to watch the film of the Eras Tour, while nearly one in 10 (8 per cent) is either planning to host or attend a Taylor Swift-themed party before or after her show. In addition, 7 per cent have even bought Taylor Swift-themed decorations to Dress up their house in Style .

Swifties have been swotting up by listening to Timeless classics as well as learning the lyrics to more recent hits. One in five (21 per cent) has bought the album ‘Midnights’, and one in six (15 per cent) pre-ordered the latest album ‘Tortured Poets Department’ prior to its release. A further one in six (14 per cent) is so invested in Swift’s Love Story that they have even started listening to Travis Kelce’s podcast ‘New Heights’, and the same proportion (14 per cent) admit to having streamed American Football games because Taylor was in the crowd.

Tom Corbett, Head of Group Sponsorship for Barclays, said: “Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is the UK’s Wildest Dreams come true – capturing the nation’s attention and bringing a substantial boost to our experience economy, with retail, hospitality and leisure sectors all Ready For It .

“Fans are increasingly going all-out on experiences that resonate on a personal level, turning every concert into a potential holiday, every ticket into a cherished memory, and every event into an opportunity to splash out on new outfits, food and merchandise. The UK’s Love Story with entertainment doesn’t just involve Taylor Swift, it’s all memorable experiences.”

Dr Peter Brooks, Chief Behavioural Scientist at Barclays, said: “Whoever came up with the phrase “money can’t buy happiness” clearly wasn’t a Swiftie. There’s growing evidence that spending on experiences boosts happiness and well-being more so than purchasing physical items, especially if that experience is shared with friends and loved ones.

“When it comes to cultural icons like Taylor Swift – like we saw with Elvis and Beatlemania in the 50s and 60s – supporters have such a strong connection to the artist and to the rest of the fandom that the desire to spend becomes even more powerful. For non-fans, £848 may seem like an enormous amount to splash out on a concert – but for Eras Tour ticketholders, every pound they spend is an investment in the memories they’ll create.”

Barclays has a long history in the Entertainment sector. Earlier this month, Barclaycard – part of the Barclays Group – announced that it had renewed its partnership with Global to sponsor the biggest live events in Global’s portfolio for five more years. This includes continuing as headline partner of Capital’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard and Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard, two of the biggest multi-artist events in the UK. Barclaycard and Barclays Premier customers also have access to a range of perks and benefits at selected festivals and events, including 10 per cent off presale tickets and 10 per cent off food and drink. Billie Eilish fans recoil as UK ticket prices top Taylor Swift and Beyoncé

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish fans have expressed outrage over ticket prices for her upcoming world tour .

The Bad Guy singer’s new tour prices have been dubbed ‘outrageous’ after she unveiled her new 81-date tour programme this week.

The tour is geared to support 22-year-old Billie’s upcoming album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which is dropping on May 17.

While fans expressed excitement over the news she would be playing so many tour dates across North America, Australia , New Zealand and Europe, many were also dismayed by the listed ticket prices.

General admission standing tickets at Billie’s UK concerts will cost £150, which many argued was too much given the current global cost of living crisis.

‘I love Billie but there’s no way these tickets should cost this much,’ fan Lyss wrote on X, adding tickets for Taylor Swift’s most recent world tour had been cheaper.

‘I paid less for standing tickets at the Eras Tour and that’s at Wembley.’

‘£145 for Billie Eilish tickets – does she not know there’s a cost of living [crisis] happening in the UK?’ questioned fan Zoe.

‘I know I moan about this all the time, but look at the price of Billie Eilish tickets,’ another British fan, Marianne, wrote while screenshotting seated tickets at £398.50. ‘Something seriously needs to be done about ticket prices, it’s f**king outrageous!’.

As another fan called the cost ‘crazy’, Susan Adams responded: ‘Imagine you paid £400 and then all the tall people stood at the front!’

https://www.instagram.com/p/C6WKhxGrzQb/

‘Thing is, these aren’t even the [fire] tickets,’ added Marianne. ‘Like ok if you want to be seated I guess, but I genuinely paid (slightly) less for VIP tickets to Beyoncé last year and those were outrageous prices anaw!

‘It’s going to honestly be something only rich people can do and that’s so f**ked!

Billie’s American fans were equally aghast.

‘THE MINIMUM PRICE FOR BILLIE ELISH’S SHOW IN MINNEAPOLIS IS $141???’ wrote one disgruntled US fan.

The outspoken singer recently grabbed headlines for discussing her masturbation habits in great detail, calling it an ‘enormous, enormous part of her life’.

The What Was I Made For hitmaker opened up about how masturbating has been a ‘huge, huge help’ in overcoming  lifelong ‘extreme body issues and dysmorphia’  as she encouraged more people to ‘jerk it’.

And performing the act in front of the mirror is an important part of the process.

Billie Eilish at Coachella Music and Arts Festival 2024

‘Partly because it’s hot,’ she told Rolling Stone . ‘But it also makes me have such a raw, deep connection to myself and my body, and have a love for my body that I have not really ever had.

‘I got to say, looking at yourself in the mirror and thinking ‘I look really good right now’ is so helpful. You can manufacture the situation you’re in to make sure you look good.’

The star also shared her top tips for making the most out of a self-reflective pleasure session from adjusting the lighting, and choosing specific outfits and positions that are ‘more flattering’.

‘I have learned that looking at myself and watching myself feel pleasure has been an extreme help in loving myself and accepting myself, and feeling empowered and comfortable,’ she added.

The singer came out during an interview with Variety  last year after being asked about her sexuality, but later went onto slam the publication for ‘outing’ her, adding she ‘likes boys and girls leave me alone about it please literally who cares’.

Swiftonomics: This is what happens to a local economy when Taylor Swift comes to town

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is a statistician’s fever dream, with eye-bulging numbers raining down like a ticker tape parade

beyonce tour uk venues

Illustration: Big Issue / Image: MediaPunch Inc / Alamy

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is a statistician’s fever dream, with eye-bulging numbers raining down like a ticker tape parade.

Pollstar, the live music business publication that tracks concert revenues, had already hailed it as the first billion-dollar tour for its US leg (running intermittently from March to August last year) where she sold 4.3 million tickets, with an average price of $238 (£190). Each show (typically to audiences of 72,000 people) grossed around $17m (£13.5m). Then add in $200m (£160m) in merchandise. It is like taking a hacked slot machine the size of Las Vegas on the road and watching as it spews out gold coins for miles around.

This is all money that will go to the multiple business entities around Taylor Swift (the venues, the promoters, the ticketing companies, the merchandise companies) as well as, of course, to Swift herself.

Get the latest news and insight into how the Big Issue magazine is made by signing up for the Inside Big Issue newsletter

That is, however, just one part of the wider economic repercussions of a tour on this scale by the biggest solo artist in the world. The macro-economic impact – essentially the money fans spend on things that do not go directly into the bank account of Swift Inc, such as travel, accommodation and food – is staggering.

Time projected in August 2023 that Swift’s tour could “generate close to $5bn in consumer spending” in the US. It mapped out the scale, suggesting that typically every $100 spent on live shows means $300 in ancillary local spending (notably travel, food and hotels); for Swift’s tour that ancillary spending per fan ballooned to $1,300-1,500.

Measuring the economic impact of her tour has become a competitive sport for analysts. Her four Tokyo shows, to 220,000 fans, in February added ¥34.1bn (£183m) to the Japanese economy according to a report by the Economic Impact Research Laboratory.

Each city she stops at is seemingly granted an economic jackpot. This is not trickle-down economics; this is Niagara economics.

Ryan Herzog, associate professor of economics at Gonzaga University, told CNBC, “She is in and of herself an economic event.” It is likely this tour will be a case study on economics degrees for years to come.

The tour has also become a hot-button issue in geopolitics. In early March, Swift performed six shows at the Singapore National Stadium, her only dates in Southeast Asia.

Srettha Thavisin, the PM of Thailand, claimed Taylor Swift was offered subsidies of $2-3m per show to make her Singapore performances a regional exclusive. The Singaporean government disputed the amount, but did not outright deny the accusation of exclusivity economics. Erica Tay, director of macroeconomic research at Maybank, estimated the shows would boost the country’s economy by S$500m (£293m).

The fiscal benefits to Swift herself are clear, but this move in Singapore, if true, feels incredibly anti-fan as those across the region wishing to go would have to add international travel costs to the ticket price. For example, because she had only Australian dates in Australasia, Air New Zealand had to add capacity for 2,000 extra seats to its network “to get fans across the ditch” for her seven shows in Melbourne and Sydney in February. Great for Air New Zealand, not so great for the economies of the country’s biggest cities.

  • Taylor Swift’s break-up shows why media literacy is vital
  • Cost of living crisis stopping people accessing mental health benefits of live music

Amid the blizzard of hyperbole (like music journalists boldly pronouncing we are “in the Taylor Swift cinematic universe”), calm and reason feel like the first casualties. A rolling story like this is catnip to economists and the business pages of the broadsheets, normally commenting on and analysing more staid businesses. A piece hitched to the earnings of a pop star turns a grey numbers story into a glamorous jamboree of wild speculation beyond the hard stats themselves.

In parallel with stories about “the Taylor effect” and “the Swift lift” peppering Wall Street earnings calls, Si Ying Toh, global economist at financial services group Nomura, swam against the tide of hype (possibly being intentionally contrarian) by saying Swift’s tour might have “enchanted US economic analysts” but cautioning the “total macroeconomic effect is probably overstated”.

There are similar, if slightly more muted, claims being thrown about around Beyoncé’s tour in 2023. “Beyoncé blamed for inflation surprise in Sweden,” ran a frenzied BBC headline last June. Her shows there saw surge pricing, an economic force more typically associated with Uber when the late-night bars close or airlines, restaurants and hotels in the run-up to Christmas. This, it was claimed, pushed inflation to a higher-than-expected 9.7% in the country.

beyonce tour uk venues

Visit Stockholm called it the “Beyoncé effect” and it was compared to what happens when a major sporting event comes to a city.

Below the BBC headline, however, was a more measured interpretation by Danske Bank analyst Michael Grahn, who said he would not “blame” Beyoncé as the single contributory factor, reasoning that her shows “added a little to it”. A headline like “Beyoncé added a little to inflation in Sweden” does not have the same arresting impact.

The other critical issue here is understanding if all this spending beyond tickets and merchandise is additive to the local economy (ie consumers extending beyond their normal spending) or diversionary (taking money that could have been spent on other things and relocating it).

We are already seeing the impact in the UK – and Swift’s tour does not even begin until 7 June in Edinburgh. The Black Dog pub in Vauxhall, South London, has seen “overwhelming” footfall from fans as it provided the title for a track on the “Anthology” edition of her new album, The Tortured Poets Department .

When The Rolling Stones toured, the cliché was they were the only show in town. They would arrive and spending in and around the venue would go through the roof. Yet that seems economically restrained compared to what is happening as Taylor Swift creates a new financial centre of gravity in every city she deigns to visit. And it is very much a city-based phenomenon.

Glastonbury is perhaps one of the most economically studied music and culture events in the world. A 2020 House of Commons Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee inquiry into UK festivals quoted research by the Association of Independent Festivals that found “a 5,000 capacity festival is worth £1.1m to the local area, while a 110,000 capacity festival can be worth over £27m”. This paled in comparison with Glastonbury which “generates over £100m into the economy of South West England each time it takes place”.

The economic impact of festivals tends to lift the local economies in rural areas. Beyond transport and camping equipment, the bulk of attendees’ spending will be on, or very near, the festival site. The Swift tour is inherently urban in its impact, with hotels the immediate beneficiaries but also the wider tourism ecosystem.

What the measurable economic uplift will be for Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and London when Taylor Swift does her latest victory lap around the UK this summer is currently in the realms of wild speculation. Even so, every other major city in the country will have new empathy with Srettha Thavisin and will be existentially asking themselves: why there but not here ?

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is in the UK 7-23 June, then 15-20 August .
