Phuket Tour Guide

Getting there.

Phuket is an island, though it seems to be a much easier island to access than many others in the world. The vast majority of visitors simply arrive through Phuket International Airport, located around 24 miles from the city center.

It’s usually cheaper to fly into Bangkok, however, so if you’d like to see Bangkok you may just want to allot a day or two there. From there, you can simply take the train from Hua Lamphong Station to Surat Thani and then take a bus to Phuket. You should not miss Bangkok, we would recommend a tour of the city .

Getting Around

Phuket is pretty simple to navigate, thank goodness. You’ll find many varying private and public transportation options. If you’re staying in a resort area, you may just be able to walk around without even thinking of 3 rd -party transportation.

Tuk-Tuk – These are unique to a lot of people, and the experience can be a fun one. However, they’re more ideal for shorter journeys, due to their small size and rather bumpy ride at times. Not only that, but if you’re in a resort area like Patong, they can get kind of pricey. Make sure you agree upon a rate before heading off.

Taxis/Grab – Taxis are pretty much everywhere around Phuket, but particularly in tourist spots and resort areas. Metered taxis are also located right outside the main entrance/exit at the airport. For the first 2 km, fares will be 50 baht and around 8 baht for each km after that. If you’re going long distances, try to settle on a flat rate beforehand.

There is no Uber here, but instead “Grab”. This app-based service is preferred by many visitors as it’s more reliable and gives you more of a sense of security as your ride is tracked and your rate is already settled.

Buses – Known as “songtaews”, these open-air buses are bright blue and easy to spot. The cool thing is they even write the destinations in English if you don’t speak Thai. Just be prepared to be able to flag one down, as there are no established bus stops. Buses operate from around 7 am to 6 pm, and are very affordable.

Motorbike – If you’re brave enough, you may just choose to rent a motorbike. 50-cc Hondas and big bikes are the most common type, and are very cheap. However, you need to know that many drivers operate with complete disregard for the laws and others on the road. Not only that, but if it’s a wet season, roads can become very slippery and difficult to navigate.

Motorbike Taxis – If you are going to hop on a motorbike, you may be better off with a local driving it for you. They are familiar with the way other locals drive, the weather conditions, and so on. This makes it much safer and more reliable. You can find them at moto taxi stands, usually with the drivers wearing red or green vests.

Where to Stay

Phuket may be an island, but it’s one of the more lively islands in Thailand. However, whether you’re going to party or to vacation as a family, there’s something for everyone. Each beach has a different vibe to it!

Phuket Town – If you’re going for the sightseeing and absorbing the culture more than anything, just stay here. You’ll be able to access some of the most popular attractions like the Big Buddha, Wat Chalong Temple, and elephant sanctuary. Not only that, but it’s easy to walk to hotels, temples, markets, and restaurants.

Mai Khao, Nai Yang, Nai Thon – If your main priority is seeing the amazing beaches, then stay in any of these areas. Patong is one of the main beaches, but is usually very overcrowded while many others are uncomfortable and not quite as beautiful.

However, these 3 are all located inside a national park. They have beautiful white sands, gorgeous views, and have a more private feel to them. Nai Yang is notorious for being so close to the airport runway that you feel like you could almost reach out and touch the airplanes! Kata is another honorable mention, with some of the best swimming on the island.

Bang Tao – Bang Tao is perfect if you are a water sport kind of person. That could mean jet-skiing, going out on a speedboat, parasailing, etcetera. If you’re into receiving top-notch spa treatments, Bang Tao is also the way to go. If you’re feeling sore, you can’t skip receiving a massage here.

Patong – Patong is the center of nightlife and all the hustle-and-bustle of Phuket. You’ll find clubs bumping with loud music, all kinds of “entertainment complexes”, and extravagant shows. If you’re coming with the entire family, you may want to steer clear of staying in this area, though.

Kata Yai, Kata Noi – Are you a serious foodie? Then you should be staying in either of these areas. You’ll find everything from world-class bistros to makeshift stalls at the beach serving up delicious dishes. Whatever you’re looking for as far as food goes, you’ll find it here.

Restaurants and Eating Out

As we just mentioned, Phuket has a variety of tasty food options and there really is something for everyone. With that being said, we recommend trying both formal restaurants and food stalls for best results.

One Chun Café and Restaurant – Located in Old Town, this restaurant is consistently rated as one of the best on the island. With a wide variety of dishes (try the crab yellow curry), it has a very vintage feel with brick walls and all kinds of old clocks and TV sets!

Raya – Okay, so this is from the same owners as One Chun, but it just can’t be left out! Known for their classic local dishes like moo hong or slow-cooked pork belly stew, they really take their time in making sure each dish is served to perfection. It’s located right around the corner from One Chun, too!

Ko Ang Seafood – This place has been around a long time, and is known for being one of the best seafood spots in Old Town. You’ll find everything from popular dishes to exotic options like red ant eggs or horseshoe crab.

Lock Tien Food Court – If you go to Phuket, you have to make a visit to Lock Tien. It’s been serving up delicious food for over 50 years to locals and tourists, alike. Located on the corner of Dibuk and Yoawarat, you can try a delicious traditional dinner like por pia, or a cool dessert like oh aew. O-aew is a Thai shaved ice dessert topped with many ingredients like red bean, grass jelly, and of course o-aew: a type of jelly made with banana and herbs.

Kwong Shop Seafood – Here’s another prime seafood spot, and if you’re in Kata Beach, we highly recommend stopping by. Crab curry, hot pot, steamed squid, entire fish – they have it all and it’s super cheap for the quality and quantity received.

Sugar & Spice – This place melds western dishes with Thai favorites like pad Thai, pineapple rice, and som tam. It’s not all that exciting, but it’s a good option if you or another in your group isn’t that adventurous with food.

Nightlife and Entertainment

  • Soi Bangla Road – This place goes crazy after the sun sets! You’ll find all kinds of lavish clubs to sophisticated lounges and everything in-between.
  • Wassa Homemade – Located right on the coast, this is a wonderful date night spot if you’re looking for chill music, great conversation, and excellent cocktails. The views are unbeatable, and the service is fantastic.
  • Seductino Nightclub – This trendy spot is a massive club, with famous DJs every night.
  • Simon Cabaret – One of the most popular places in Phuket, it has great digital sound and visual effects.
  • Siam Niramit – This is undoubtedly one of the most unique shows on the island, and has an almost Vegas-esque feel to it. If you’re bringing the whole family along, this is one of the top recommendations. Complete with over 100 performers, glamorous costumes, and elaborate sets, there’s never a dull moment.
  • Boat Bar – This is a fun place with friendly staff, cool decorations, great music, cabaret some nights, and more.
  • Kee Sky Lounge – This rooftop bar is just steps away from Bangla Walking Street. The rooftop is designed to look like a cruise ship deck, and is always fun with great cocktails and views of the Andaman Sea.
  • Kudo Beach Club – Okay, so this club does open at 10 am, but it goes until midnight so you always have a party to go to!

Generally speaking, Phuket is quite warm throughout the entire year. Temperatures range from around 77 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit, and seasons are pretty much just divided into the “rainy season” and “dry season”. These periods depend on the tropical monsoon.

Dry season starts in December, lasting until around March. You’ll see clear skies, calm waters, and light breezes with temperatures in the high 70s, typically. As you can imagine, this attracts a lot of tourists and is known as the high season.

Rainy season starts in June and lasts until October. This is when the monsoon comes in, with intense winds, lots of rain, with hot and humid weather. It’s not quite as pleasant, considering many times you won’t be able to be out on the water. Going to the beach may result in sand blowing all over, and raining you out.

Attractions

Kata Noi Beach – Phuket has a ton of great beaches, but Kata Noi remains one of our favorites. It’s small in size but huge in beauty. Take a walk along the pristine sand while just enjoying the view or taking a swim in the water.

Chalong Bay Rum Distillery – If you’re a rum fan, you’ll love learning about how it is produced. Not to mention, after the tour you get to participate in a cocktail workshop and bar, where you’ll learn how to make various cocktails that include the house rum.

Big Buddha – This is an absolutely massive marble Buddha statue, at almost 150 feet tall! While the Buddha alone is a great motive for heading there, you also get some of the best panoramic views of the island from the top of the hill.

Nai Harn Beach – This is one of the most popular beaches, with soft white sand and crystal-clear blue water. There are many delicious restaurants nearby, so we recommend grabbing a bite to eat and then coming to sit under the shade of a large tree on the beach.

Karon Viewpoint – Right next to Kata Noi is Karon Viewpoint, which offers some of the best lookout points on the whole island.

Phuket Town Weekend Night Market – The locals call it “Maka Market”, and is the place to be at night on the weekends! It’s crowded with tourists and locals, yes, but there are so many delicious foods and fun items to purchase and look at here.

Wat Chalong and Phuket Temples – Wat Chalong is one of the most important temples in Phuket, with incredible intricacy and a fascinating history. It’s gorgeous from a distance, but head closer and you’ll see the innumerable pieces of glittering glass.

Bangla Road – It’s definitely unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, so prepare yourself for that! But if you are ready for adventure and have a sense of humor, you’ll be just fine.

Phang Nga Bay – If you have ever seen the James Bond movie, The Man With The Golden Gun you will recognize it. The “ James Bond Islands ” are a popular tourist attraction.

  • Don’t drink the tap water. Just drink bottled water, and make sure that the bottle is sealed. Ice is made with clean water, and you don’t have to worry about it.
  • Bring mosquito repellent or purchase some right when you arrive. Dengue and malaria aren’t that common, but it’s still annoying to be itching the entire time.
  • When at temples, you need to be respectful. Cover your shoulders and legs at least to the knee. Remove shoes and hat before entering any temple.
  • Be respectful of any image of Buddha. Buying statues and/or getting Buddhist tattoos if you aren’t Buddhist is not only considered very disrespectful, but in some cases, even illegal!
  • Public criticism of Thai royalty is illegal, and if the national anthem is played in public or even before a movie in the theater, you should stand.

Phi Phi Island on a budget

You are currently viewing Phi Phi Island on a budget

undated September 2023 by Eli

Koh Phi Phi is a small tropical island and one of the most famous and most visited islands in Thailand. So the general assumption is that going to the island for a holiday can be quite expensive.

The island is famous for its beauty, stunning limestone rocks and great scuba diving and snorkeling. The popularity of the Koh Phi Phi skyrocketed after the year 2000 when the movie “The Beach” was filmed here.

But even though Phi Phi Island is one of the most popular islands in Thailand, you can spend your holiday here on a relatively small budget .

I have been coming to the island since 2005 and have been living here permanently since 2012. Living in a tourist area on a small island is not an inexpensive matter, but if you can compromise, everything is possible.

Despite its popularity, Koh Phi Phi is a small village and I do not think that one needs any luxury to live here. You spend most of the day on the beach, in the sea or by the pool. I can confirm from my own experience that I spend minimum time in my room and therefore a basic place to sleep and shower is all you need, if you are backpacking .

In this post, I will share with you some useful tips that will come handy to all travelers, students and backpackers. You will find out where to find accommodation on a minimal budget, where to eat cheaply and what to do in Koh Phi Phi.

There are no roads, cars or motorbikes on the island. In addition to clean air, this also means that you won’t spend any cash on taxis and tuk-tuks. You can walk anywhere around the island on foot.

Why is Koh Phi Phi more expensive than other places in Thailand?

Phi Phi Island is a two-hour boat ride from the mainland. Which means that all goods and electric supply with water have to get here somehow.

So expect a little more expensive prices in the supermarket than onshore. This also applies to accommodation. Electricity and water on Koh Phi Phi are extremely expensive , which means that hotels and hostels are a bit more expensive than onshore or inland because they have to cover their larger costs or running the accommodation.

When is the best to come to Phi Phi Island?

Another important fact I must mention is the timing of your vacation. If you’re on a limited budget, come to Phi Phi Island in low season. And this, of course, applies to all of Thailand. The weather is generally good even off-season, there are not as many tourists and prices of accommodation on the island are on its lowest. Low season, in reality, means from 1st May to 31st October, which is when hotels have the cheapest rates.

The most expensive period, when hotel prices peak the highest, are the two weeks around Christmas and New Year holidays and a week in mid-February when the Chinese New Year is celebrated. In these two terms, almost all hotels on the island are sold out and prices per night can be up to five times the off seasonal rates.

WHERE TO FIND CHEAP ROOMS IN KOH PHI PHI?

As I mentioned, if you can plan your break off-season (from May to the end of October), your accommodation budget will be significantly smaller.

Uphill Cottage   is a very good choice of cheap hotels. The resort is a 12-minute walk from the main port, in a quiet part of town. There are restaurants and shops within 5 minutes from the bungalows and you can walk to all the bars and beaches. Low season prices are around 800THB per room.

  • If you want even cheaper budget room, you can find basic rooms at Harmony House ,   P P Garden Home Bungalows   and Tropical Garden Bungalows . Prices for rooms with fan off-season are around 400-500THB per night for two persons (13-16USD).

If you are traveling long term, you can stay in Phi Phi island longer and rent a room for a month. Monthly rental of a basic room in low season is around 8.000-10.000THB (260-320USD).

WHERE TO FIND A GOOD AND CHEAP FOOD IN PHI PHI ISLAND?

Food in Phi Phi Island is not very expensive and if you enjoy Thai food, you will find a lot of cheap restaurants. The best choice for cheap food is the local market , located near the main port. There are several stalls and restaurants where you can eat some tasty and cheap meals.

  • I recommend eating in the local market near the main pier. You can find some classic cheap Thai food for good prices. The price of meals such as rice and pad thai is from 60-70THB per serving (2USD). Try PA NOI restaurant.
  • Another good and cheap options besides the market are the ONLY NOODLES resto , where they cook cheap Pad thai and yellow noodle dishes. The stand is tucked behind the Irish Bar.
  • If you want European food, some pasta or pizza, you can try the TOM YAM restaurant near the ONLY NOODLES. It serves European and Thai dishes.

If you want to save money on drinking water and also want to be eco-friendly, invest in Trash Hero  flask . It costs 200THB and there are several places on the island where you can get free water refill (such as Adventure Club dive shops). Trash Hero bottle can also be used on other islands such as Koh Lipe and Koh Tao.

WHAT TO DO ON THE ISLAND WITHOUT SPENDING TOO MUCH?

Phi Phi viewpoint is a must-do activity for anyone coming to Phi Phi Island. The entrance is only 30THB and the walk is fairly easy. Right after the stairs, you are at Viewpoint #1, after a 20-minute uphill walk, you will reach Viewpoint # 2, where you will find the Viewpoint restaurant and a wooden platform to enjoy the view.

Kayaking in Loh Dalum Bay is one of the favorite activities in Phi Phi Island. Three-hour kayak rental for two people is approximately 500THB, or 250THB per person (8 USD per person). If you want to rent the kayak for the whole day you can negotiate a better price.

If you like to snorkel, you can also try snorkeling off the beach. Long Beach or Loh Moodee Beach are good beaches for snorkeling. You can reach both beaches on foot and rent mask and snorkel for 100THB in the town. Long Beach is good for swimming all day, even at low tide, and you can snorkel at the end of the beach at the place called Shark Point. With a little luck, you can spot some black-tip sharks. Loh Modee beach is also good for snorkeling, just make sure you come during high tide. Loh Modee beach has a more gradual slope, so during low tide, there is pretty shallow water. You can check tide times on the Internet or application Global Tide .

  • BEACH AND JUNGLE TREKKING

If you like walking then you can spend a day trekking to the northern part of the island and relax on beautiful beaches like Leam Tong and Loh Ba Kao Bay.

READ HERE HOW TO GET TO THE NORT PART OF THE ISLAND ON FOOT

  • SWIMMING POOLS

There are some great swimming pools in Phi Phi Island you can use for free, once you buy drinks or food in the pool bar or restaurant. During the day there is a good rooftop pool at Phi Phi Don Chukit Resort , overlooking the port and Tonsai Bay. In the afternoon there are great sunset views from the infinity pools in Phuppaya Seaview Resort or Cobble Beach Resort . There is also free entry to the Ibiza and Princess swimming pools on days when there is a pool party (mostly Fridays and Sundays).

You won’t find any spas or health centers in Phi Phi island. You can have a massage in basic massage parlors, which you can find all over the town. Have a massage in the town instead of the beach, you will get the same service, only pay extra for the location. Good massage in the town is 300THB per hour for a thai style massage and 400THB (10-13USD) per hour for oil massage. I recommend a place called Baan Sabai massage or Anita Massage.

NIGHTLIFE AND BARS IN PHI PHI ISLAND

All beach bars are open and free to wander. It is quite polite to buy at least one beer at the bar, but it is not a must. You can buy alcohol at the supermarket or on the street and sit down on the beach to watch the fire show. The fire show starts every night around 9 pm in Stones Bar and Slinky Bar .

Reggae Bar   has free entry, once you buy a drink at the bar. From around 9.30 pm, you can watch here the Thai boxing matches and even take a part in a quest to win a free whiskey bucket.

Paddy Shack is right in the centre of the town, next to Cappulate Cafe. Paddy has great drinks for a decent price and the best cocktails buckets in Phi Phi.

BUDGET BOAT TRIP IN PHI PHI ISLAND

Phi Phi Island offers a large number of tours and excursions and you will find good tours even with a limited budget. If you are looking for a cheaper option of the trip, it will be a trip on a traditional long-tail boat.

But be careful not to be tempted by extremely cheap trips. If a half-day trip with lunch costs 350-400THB, it almost always means you will end up on a crowded boat. If someone sells such cheap trips, they must logically fill the boat to the max to earn some profit. I recommend paying a little more and enjoy a good quality trip and make some good memories.

Good price for a half-day trip is around 650THB (20USD) or 850THB for full day.

How much money should I bring to enjoy Phi Phi Island?

Here is a rough budget for one person, three full days in Phi Phi Island  (4 nights) .

  • Accommodation in Tropical garden Bungalow in low season (500THB per night, double room for two people). Each day there is an activity, including a boat trip, kayak rental and a massage. I also want to highlight that the food was very good: breakfast on the island, lunch and afternoon break . Francesca ( read more reviews )

The boat will then take you to Bamboo Island where you’ll spend about 45 minutes.

Amelie – 3 April 2024

My only word for this is WOW! This excursion was exceptional due to the brilliant transparency of the water, the verdant sceneries, and the adrenaline ride on the speedboat included. The tour guide contributed a great deal to our comprehension of Phi Phi’s natural treasures as well as our pleasure of them. A great piece of advice for anyone: bring extra sunscreen with you; the sun in Thailand is not to be taken lightly.

Family fun and nature’s beauty all in one. Our trip to Phi Phi Island was spectacular, from the friendly guide to the stunning beaches. The kids couldn’t stop talking about the monkeys, and the buffet lunch was a delightful taste of Thailand. Perfect for families seeking adventure and relaxation.

Riccardo – via WhatsApp (verified owner) – 2 March 2024

Absolute paradise with an adrenaline rush! The Phi Phi Island speedboat tour was a dream, combining the thrill of speed with the tranquility of nature. Snorkeling in crystal-clear waters was surreal. A tip: bring an underwater camera to capture the vibrant underwater life.

E. Russell – via WhatsApp (verified owner) – 16 February 2024

This Phi Phi tour was a gem. The clear waters, the rich marine life, and the warmth of the group made me feel part of a family. Snorkeling here is a must-do. The guide’s knowledge and enthusiasm for the island made the day even more special.

A. SAHOO – via WhatsApp (verified owner) – 12 February 2024

This tour was a perfect experience from start to finish. From cutting through the waves on a speedboat to exploring the beauty of Maya Bay, every detail was taken care of. The buffet lunch at the beach restaurant was not only delicious, but also provided a nice relaxing time. It was truly a magical day on Phi Phi Island.

We’d an wonderful Day, most thanks to this team. Absolutely recommend this excursion for anybody looking to visit Phi Phi islands with just each day to spare.

' src=

Teresa – 12 March 2018

The excursion has been amazing at overall and also the tour guides are all considerate and kind for my loved ones. Drinks and snacks were provided through the entire trip once we wanted. In addition, the tour guide had instructed us the way to Motivate patiently and led us within our very first try. Travelling on a rate vessel was a tiny bit bumpy some times but still okay. Highly suggested.

' src=

Thomas J – 11 March 2018

Very eventful afternoon, made plenty of stops to distinct islands, however, Maya Bay could be your iconic the one which you’re searching for. The rate ship road was much less fun because of high winds.

' src=

Ritesh M – 9 March 2018

The ship was somewhat crowded but quite modern I must say; however they chose up us promptly and also we must find that a good deal.

' src=

Huey Sun – 9 March 2018

The tour guide is funny, the program of this trip would be quite full and only remained for 40 min for every part.

' src=

Giacomo M – 27 February 2018

Overall this was just a great experience

' src=

Kurou – 27 February 2018

A really good way to explore and enjoy Phi Phi Islands having fun with snorkeling

' src=

Guido – 24 February 2018

Only one negative side I should say, the first small island we visited was a bit crowded but I heard that Bamboo island is not like that, anyway we were 4 and we all liked the tour.

' src=

Arata – 21 February 2018

A day trip that is so nice to see a very special and amazing place. I would always go there!

Cruising past the coral reefs, stunning cliffs and many other eye-opening sights (including Maya Bay) in ultimate comfort really does make all the difference.

Phi Phi Island Tour From Phuket

While six islands make up this region, we centre our Phi Phi Islands adventure on the two main islands that are world-famous for their natural beauty and provide maximum value for money. Why waste valuable time on the islands that don’t provide the most eye-opening experience? It is, for this reason, that we journey to Phi Phi Don, the largest island, and a destination that provides incredible swimming, diving, and snorkelling opportunities in the shadows of some of the most spectacular surroundings you’re likely to witness.

In addition to Phi Phi Don, we focus our attention on Phi Phi Leh, the smaller of the two main islands, and home to Maya Bay. This cosy bay is world-famous for its serene beauty and has recently reopened and is finally welcoming back crowds following a lengthy period of closure.

During our Phi Phi Island Tour, you will have plenty of opportunities to dive into the idyllic turquoise waters of the islands as well as we put the anchor down and allow you to get maximum value for your once-in-a-lifetime experience. So don’t delay, join us on the most intimate Phi Phi Island tour. Book in advance via our website to ensure you get your seat!

  • Discover the iconic Phi Phi Islands away from the crowds
  • Travel in comfort on a spacious speedboat
  • Beat the rush of visitors to the spectacular Maya Bay

Small Group Tours, Beat the Crowds

Simba operates the lowest passenger numbers of all operators to Phi Phi Islands with an average of 14 passengers and max 18 Adults. Our tours are planned specifically to avoid the large crowds in the National Parks.

Phi Phi Island Tour’s first glimpse of magic - Maya Bay

Phi Phi Maya Bay has been a “must see location” for the majority of Thailand tourists for decades and as such, suffered from its overuse. Thankfully the National Park prohibited from 2018 to the end of 2021, any boat from dropping anchor in the bay and alighting at the beach, to allow the gorgeous coral island treasures, wildlife and environment time to recover. Fully recovered, Maya Bay is now open for business once more and keen to show off its beauty to a whole new audience.

At Simba, you will be one of the first boats to arrive at this awe-inspiring bay to enjoy placing the first footprints of the day into its fine white sand beach.  Breakfast will be served here on the beach.

The Phi Phi Island tour’s emerald crown, Pileh Lagoon - Tide Dependent

Our next port of call on our sunrise tour is the gorgeous Pileh Lagoon (tide-dependent). Another highly popular tourist destination and usually busy but don’t despair. Thanks to our early start time, while most crowds are headed to Maya Bay we are exiting on our way to beat the crowds to Pileh Lagoon.

It is a wonderful attraction, an emerald green lagoon surrounded by high limestone cliffs on 3 sides, and one of the world’s most gorgeous natural swimming pools. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture the extremely spectacular view of the emerald waters of the islands merging with the caves and the blue clear horizon as the speedboat coasts into the Lagoon.

Experience the Phi Phi Islands from underwater - 1st Snorkeling Stop

It is now time to explore the magical underwater world of Phi Phi Islands with some swimming and snorkeling during our speed boat tour. Our experienced staff will anchor up in an area where marine life waits to greet you.

We supply all your snorkeling equipment including fins and flotation aids such as life jackets and swim noodles. The staff are always there (in and out of the speedboat) ready to help any first-timers with encouragement, and advice when needed.

You are guaranteed to see a lot of friendly fishes who are more than happy to share their waters with you and, if you are lucky, we are sometimes visited by dolphins during our snorkeling stops.

Phi Phi Islands have their secrets - Macaque Monkeys and the Viking Cave

Our Last Stop on the Phi Phi Leh leg of the tour is to the mysterious Viking Cave. This limestone cave is one of the most notable sites on the island and is one of the most requested tourist attractions from visitors.

The Viking Cave possesses unique drawings on the Southern and Eastern walls, and this naturally formed seaside cave appears out of place (for all the right reasons) at the foot of a limestone cliff. Guests will also be able to observe swifts’ nests in their hundreds. While the site is spectacular and is sure to amaze, please be aware that we are unable to walk into the cave due to local regulations.

While on this stop we will also take the time to stop by one of the local beaches for a viewing of the monkey troops. For our own safety, the team insists we all stay on the boat whilst viewing these cute Long-tailed Macaques. For animal lovers, this is one of the most memorable moments that takes place during the tour.

Islands and Crystal Waters - 2nd Snorkeling Stop

It’s time to head on to make our second snorkeling stop. This time we’ll try to find a spot that offers different marine life to what was previously seen. You can choose to say hello to the curious fish again with your second snorkeling adventure, take an extended swim or simply relax on the boat and enjoy the sunshine. We are flexible with our speedboat tour itinerary to ensure that our Phuket customers have the best day possible.

It is at this stage of the day that our guests are starting to get very excited about all that they’ve seen and all that is still to come. This is the prime opportunity for some memorable photos with your fellow tour guests as we saviour the surrounding landscape that we are fortunate enough to be gazing upon.

Tours demand relaxation time - Bamboo Beach or Koh Rang Yai

Our  penultimate stop on your Phi Phi Islands tour is selected dependant on the conditions of the day and our crew choose between one of two idyllic  tropical islands. Here, you can swim, bathe, relax and take in the sights. Both are true paradise islands with crystal clear waters, picturesque palm trees, and soft white sand.

Take your time to enjoy the island’s beauty at one of the most stunning beaches in the world and end your day the right way.

A taste of the Phi Phi Islands - Lunch time

Finish your trip to Phi Phi with a well-deserved lunch at our popular pool club restaurant. Many travelers have enjoyed the scrumptious thai-style lunch with all the local flavours of the island.

You’ll have the opportunity to enhance your culinary palette in one of the most beautiful pool club settings imaginable and will provide all the nourishment you need after a long day undertaking sea activities.

A lagoon swim, followed by two snorkeling stops where you'll enjoy the sights of beautiful corals, swarms of reef life including clown fish, reef sharks, parrot fish and a myriad of other wonderful little creatures that bless our reefs.

Pickup from your hotel from all over Phuket at approximately 5am for a 6am DEPARTURE. We will return you to your hotel at approximately 3pm. For areas outside of Phuket, a cost per vehicle applies depending on how far from Phuket. We will advise of the outside Phuket fee when the booking is received.

On arrival at our office enjoy some light breakfast snacks and coffee. On tour all your culinary needs are provided by us. A yummy breakfast on the beach, snacks and soft refreshments throughout the day, and finally an authentic Thai lunch at a stunning, pool club restaurant.

Accident insurance is provided to ensure a worry free day out on the water, enjoying a wonderful day of water activities with peace of mind knowing any medical mishaps will be dealt with at no extra costs to you.

At Simba, provided enough notice is given, we are happy to provide an alternative tour date or to provide a full refund if your plans change. Please read through our policy guidelines to gain all the relevant information regarding cancellations.

The Ultimate Guide to Phi Phi Island Tours

  • Author david
  • Date February 7th, 2020

Phi Phi Islands are some of the most well-known islands in Thailand, and rightfully so. A natural wonder of South-East Asia. The unique beauty of the archipelago is like no other. But why do people visit Koh Phi Phi , it’s simple, aside from the relaxed atmosphere and laid back lifestyle, taking a Phi Phi Island Boat Tour is one of the most rewarding & fulfilling experiences in Thailand.

Without a doubt, snorkelling with Koh Phi Phi’s marine life, cruising around and island hopping on a local Thai boat is one of Thailand’s greatest attractions.

So if you’re seeking a slice of tropical paradise to swim, snorkel, relax and lap up the sunshine. Beautiful clear blue oceans, white sandy beaches and pristine limestone formations. Koh Phi Phi is the place for you!

There is no better way to immerse yourself in nature than on a Koh Phi Phi Tour . There are day tours heading out and around the islands stopping at amazing locations like Maya Bay, Pilleh Lagoon, Loh Samah Bay, Viking Cave & the Monkey Beach.

But the greatest thing about an overnight stay on Phi Phi Island is not being pushed for time, not having a deadline to meet in order to return. You’ll feel free relaxed and able to take the Phi Phi tour at leisure.

If a visit to these islands is not already on your list, consider refreshing your Thailand itinerary, making sure to leave time for a few days spare; to chill out in paradise.

In this post, I’ll cover the basics about booking Phi Phi Tours Online & Offline, tours from Patong, Phuket and Phi Phi Don island itself.

WHERE TO BOOK A PHI PHI ISLAND TOUR

You’ll be hit with such a huge magnitude of results when researching the best boat tours in Koh Phi Phi, and with so many tour operators all offering somewhat similar tour packages. It can be a pretty daunting task to begin sorting through all the potential possibilities.

Five Star Thailand Tours can help out when it comes down to Phi Phi Island Tour bookings. Their small group sizes, and focus on quality Phi Phi tour packages really set them apart from the rest.

The natural beauty of Koh Phi Phi and the close proximity to Krabi and Phuket make the islands so desirable, and a natural magnet for tourism.

Unfortunately, many boat tour operators have shamefully taken advantage of the islands popularity. It’s a common sight, to see boat tours leaving the shores packed with 20 – 35 (disappointed looking) tourists, on a single longtail boat.

When booking a Phi Phi Island Boat Tour, the best piece of advice I can give is to book with a reputable operator like Five Star Travel. When looking for a Phi Phi Tour Company, you are ideally looking for someone that operates their own tours and limits passenger numbers.

In this day and age, most legitimate tour companies have shifted to the digital era, offering online reservations.

It’s usually best to reserve tours in advance, as the most popular packages tend to fill up quickly! Especially during the peak season, which falls from November thru April.

Of course, it is still possible to take the old-school route and book a boat tour in person, after arriving on Phi Phi Island ( or Phuket ). There are literally hundreds of travel shops scattered over Koh Phi Phi. You won’t have any difficulties finding a Phi Phi Island Tour agent, itching to sign you up.

But here’s what to watch out for. The agents selling tours from shops, & kiosks, generally speaking, don’t operate any tours themselves. So you’ll be sold a boat ticket, the ticket seller will earn a small commission and you’ll find yourself on the same boat tour, regardless of where you end up booking your Phi Phi tour!

With hundreds of touts, re-sellers and stalls all competing for your cash, all selling the exact same boat tours, and no way to differentiate themselves from other sellers. Competition is fierce.

So it’s not uncommon for the salesmen to feed you a few white lies in order to close a sale. They’ll often claim that if you book with them there will be a smaller group on the boat, their captain speaks better English, or the food on their’ tour will be of better quality. It’s only when it’s too late that you find out just how untrue this is. If it seems too good to be true it probably is!

Koh Phi Phi is for most, a once-in-a-lifetime trip. It’s a special place, and it’s important that you have the best experience possible. That’s why booking a Phi Phi Island tour online, and spending a little bit of time to find a trustworthy company; who operate their own boat tour packages is extremely important.

WHICH IS THE BEST PHI PHI ISLAND BOAT TOUR COMPANY?

There are a crazy amount of Phi Phi Island Boat Tours out there, so which one should you choose? And who should you book with?

For starters, I wouldn’t recommend booking any of the cheaper public Phi Phi tours. There are way too many people packed into these boats for it to be enjoyable.

The length of time you’ll get in water will be limited and it’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll have a miserable experience of Koh Phi Phi.

I can speak from experience here when I say that Five Star Thailand Tours are a great example of a quality tour company, one that really stood out to me.

Their Semi-Private Phi Phi Island Tour, which they run, has a cap on passenger numbers (a maximum of 8 people), to avoid overcrowding. Or chartering your own private long-tail can offer even more exclusivity and flexibility to your day.

They are a local tour operator and hands-on, on the island. Some tour companies are online-only, some are resellers, but with these guys, while they are accepting reservations online they still maintain travel shops that you can visit in Thailand and meet a real person. They also have incredible and responsive support when booking.

You’ll be sure to have an incredible experience with them! If you’ve travelled thousands of miles around the world to get the islands, it’s more than likely you’ll only do this once. So it’s 100% worth paying a little extra to have a smaller group and a better experience or even having a boat to yourself.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR A PHI PHI TOUR

Taking a Phi Phi Island Tour at Sunrise is the best time to get out on the water. It can be tough to set an alarm for 5’oclock in the morning, especially on your holidays.

But why would you want to wake up so early, on a hard-earned vacation! Well, it’s all about beating the crowds, Koh Phi Phi is a tourist magnet, and the later you leave it, the busier the islands get.

Besides, it’s peaceful, quiet and deserted. Sunrise is always the most beautiful time of day, the crimson sun on the horizon makes the islands feel so restful.

And for a brief moment, it is as if there are no other people around as if you are back in the 1980s and Koh Phi Phi is still an untold secret. Most people can only dream of experiencing Koh Phi Phi like this.

There are very few others around at six am and even fewer boat tours. Usually no more than a handful of private charters cruising around this early on.

The sand remains flat from the night before, the water is perfect. Clear, blue and warm. And with the sunlight just appearing, the lighting makes the beach seem even more peaceful than usual.

Koh Phi Phi really does feel like a totally different place, compared to later on in the morning. Almost like something out of… a movie… starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

A Sunrise tour can’t be compared to any other Phi Phi tour package. It’s truly magical at sunrise, so have a slice of this paradise island to yourself, while you still can.

HOW MUCH IS A PHI PHI ISLAND TOUR?

There are a crazy amount of tours available in Koh Phi Phi so I’ll stick with the most popular packages. The price will be higher if you’re staying in Phuket, while those staying on Koh Phi Phi can take advantage of the lower tour prices.

For tours leaving Phuket, you should be paying in the region of 4,000 Baht for a decent quality tour. Or in Koh Phi Phi, that price should be lower at around 1,500 Baht.

You can even find tour packages leaving from Koh Phi Phi for as low as 500 Baht! But bear in mind, you get what you pay for.

Here are a few examples of tours for a rough idea of what a boat tour will cost you.

  • Semi-Private Phi Phi Sunrise Supreme / Sunset Supreme. These tours cost on average 1,500THB for each person. With a maximum of eight people on the boat. Coffee and croissants are included in the sunrise. Beers, a chicken baguette meal-deal, and a Thai fried rice is included on the afternoon trip.
  • Charter a private longtail boat. The price of a private longtail boat depends on where you leave from. If you are staying in Phuket the cost is 4,950 THB per person. With hotel collection, and speedboat transfers included. If you stay in Ko Phi Phi the cost can be even lower than that!

CAN YOU DO A DAY TRIP TO PHI PHI ISLAND FROM PHUKET?

A day trip from Phuket to Koh Phi Phi is doable, but contrary to popular belief, the island isn’t as close as most people would like to believe.

Koh Phi Phi takes over two hours to reach by ferry, or one hour when travelling by speedboat.

So while day trips from Phuket & Patong are totally possible, it is much better to stay overnight on the island if your schedule allows for it.

The great thing about an overnight stay on Koh Phi Phi is more time to explore the main island of Phi Phi Don, there are some awesome places to check out on the island such as hiking to the viewpoint or watching a fire performance on the beach.

If you’re travelling on a tight schedule and your time in Thailand doesn’t allow for an overnight stay on Koh Phi Phi, there are plenty of speedboat tour packages from Phuket which will show you around the islands hotspots.

There are a couple of other choices when it comes to picking a Phi Phi Tour from Phuket. The most popular choice is a Private Longtail Trip, these tours will typically include return transfers from Phuket in the ticket price. A group speedboat tour is another option, but the prices can be dear, and there tends to be quite a lot of people on these boats.

Or lastly, ferry companies operate tours to Koh Phi Phi from Phuket, where they will arrange for a speedboat to meet the ferry on arrival. So essentially you still get a great speedboat tour of Koh Phi Phi, but by travelling to and from the island by ferry, you get tickets at a fraction of the price!

Andaman Wavemaster is one of the companies who run ferries to the island from Phuket, and bundle in a speedboat tour on arrival. While I’ve heard positive things about them, I can’t speak from experience. If you end up booking such a tour, leave a comment at the bottom and let me know about your experience!

There are plenty of other activities to partake in Phuket! Here are some more awesome things to see and do in Phuket, Thailand .

Tip: if you want to see the Phi Phi Sunrise or Sunset, you’ll have to stay overnight! Boats cannot travel to the island before the Phi Phi Sunrise or later on after sundown!

WHICH BOAT SHOULD I CHOOSE

One of the greatest things about taking a Phi Phi Island Boat Tour is having the chance to ride on an authentic Thai Longtail boat.

If you’re taking a tour from Phi Phi Don Island, you have so many more options. But, keeping it real and opting for a traditional long-tail boat will add so much authenticity to your Phi Phi Island Tour. Speedboats can be ridden (almost) anywhere in the world. Whereas you’ll only find Longtail Boats in the south of Thailand.

These Thai Long Boats were originally used as fishing vessels, and are now more commonly used to take tourists out on snorkelling excursions.

The Thai Longtail Boat has a certain, unexplainable charm – much as riding a Tuk Tuk in Bangkok is many people’s first experience of the Kingdom. Riding a Longtail Boat will get you the most memorable Phi Phi Island Tour .

But here’s the catch, Longtail Boats will only be found leaving the shores on Koh Phi Phi Don. There are no Longtail Boat tours from Phuket, as it would be unsafe and reckless. And above all, a terrifying ride!

When leaving form Phuket, the alternative to the Thai Longtail Boat is a speedboat, while faster, more modern & arguably more comfortable. There just isn’t the same charm of which you’d fell on a Long Boat.

But it’s not all bad news for visitors staying in Phuket. Five Star Thailand Tours, combine the best of both on one of their private tour packages when booking a private longtail boat leaving from the shores of Koh Phi Phi Don they have an option to bundle in return Speedboat transfers, to and from the island. So you don’t have to miss out on this awesome experience!

WHERE DOES A PHI PHI ISLAND BOAT TOUR VISIT

Koh Phi Phi Leh National Park is a short distance away from the main island (Koh Phi Phi Don), it takes around ten minutes to ride across the Andaman to this Island and it is where the best spots to visit are.

The island is home to Monkey Beach, Viking Cave, Phi Phi Lagoon, Loh Samah Bay &  Maya Bay Beach.

MONKEY BEACH

Monkey Beach is incredible, the Marquee Monkeys which live here will come on down to the beach to greet your boat (and grab your sandwiches, given a chance)!

These playful creatures roam wild and free on the white beaches and up in the towering limestone cliffs.

The beach is only accessible by boat from Phi Phi Don. With no option of walking, kayaking, driving or swimming! The best bet is to book onto a Phi Phi Boat Tour to get out and meet the Monkeys.

The bay is quite small and it can get pretty busy after mid-morning. So it’s best to head out as early as possible before all the other tours begin to arrive.

You are not allowed to feed the Monkeys, however, sadly, most people do. Feeding the Monkeys essentially domesticates them and causes them to show signs of aggression.

VIKING CAVE

Viking cave is a historic spot at Koh Phi Phi Leh and a must-do on a Phi Phi Boat Trip. Swiftlet Birds live inside the cave and historically the nests of these birds were harvested by sailors, which according to local legends would boost virility.

Nowadays a Phi Phi birds nest soup is a well sought after delicacy, bringing in a decent buck for the few who live in the cave!

The nests are exported to China, where they can fetch up to 10,000USD at market. The idea of a birds nest soup, and especially at the eye-watering prices, surprisingly doesn’t appeal to me. I’ll be sticking with Thai Fried Rice for the time being!

There is a makeshift bamboo structure outside, however, you can only see the cave from afar, as the cave itself is closed off to the public. You can only reach the Viking Cave by boat, so you’ll be able to grab some photographs as you cruise past.

It’s also a fantastic place for snorkelling, with plenty of marine life in the area and beautiful clear blue waters.

Don’t worry about bringing along your own snorkelling equipment. Any reputable boat tour company will provide quality gear for you to use!

PHI PHI LAGOON

Also known as Pilleh Lagoon or the Blue Lagoon amongst many other names. It’s one of the top spots for snorkelling on the island with stunning underwater corals and marine life.

This amazing mind-blowing location is an incredible cove on Phi Phi Leh Island. And by far one of the most stunning destinations to visit. Due to the lagoons close proximity to Maya Bay, both these places can often be seen on one Phi Phi Tour.

It’s a surreal experience, taking a long-tail boat from the shore of Koh Phi Phi Don over to Phi Phi Leh, to snorkel in the clear transparent waters. It takes around twenty minutes to reach Phi Phi Lagoon.

As your boat pulls into the mouth of the cove, you’ll be immersed by limestone cliffs towering all around and the peaceful sounds of waves lapping into the cliffs. You can’t walk to the bay or kayak there, so the only option is to book onto a Phi Phi Excursion which will take you there.

Even for backpackers on a budget, Pileh Lagoon is a must-do in Koh Phi Phi.

Snorkelling in the blue lagoon will blow your mind, it is hands down one of the best things you can do in Thailand. It’s easy to see why this place is such a hot spot with tourists, so if Pilleh Lagoon isn’t on your Thailand bucket list, now is the time to add it!

LOH SAMAH BAY

Loh Samah is a bay to the rear of Ao Maya bay, it’s a top snorkelling destination, and relatively unheard of. But that doesn’t mean it should be overlooked!

It’s one of my favourite places to visit and there is a perfect white sand beach which is exposed at low tide.

The emerald waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling. The best advice is to get here as early in the morning as you can. Before all the other tour boats start tricking in.

Maya Bay Beach in Thailand is arguably the most stunning destination to visit. The beautiful bay was brought to fame by the movie ‘The Beach’. Shot in the late 90’s starring Leonardo DiCaprio, this film brought the beauty of Koh Phi Phi to the public eye for the first time.

Sadly in recent years, the Department of National Parks (DNP) has been forced to close off Maya Bay for restoration. While it’s sad that visitors often show such little respect for the palace. It is great that the authorities have taken action.

The bay will be closed for three years and is set to reopen again in November 2021. Plans have been drawn up for a new pier, which will stop boats from mooring on the beach and tourist numbers will be capped per day.

Visitors to Maya Bay will also need to book a tour in advance online, through a licenced tour operator. There will be much more control and no last-minute bookings once the beach re-opens.

THERE IS MORE TO A PHI PHI TOUR THAN KOH PHI PHI LEH

The beauty of taking a private boat tour is that you have the freedom to visit anywhere you’d like to! So while the aforementioned places are the most beautiful, they also attract the biggest crowds. You’ll find much quieter, secluded beaches on Phi Phi Don.

So if you’ve made it all the way to the end, here are a few more secretive spots that you should definitely be checking out!

  • Loh Lana Bay is amazing for snorkelling, it’s rare to see other boats around here.
  • Loh Bakao Bay, you have an entry point to the secluded Phi Phi Village (not to be confused with the town) there are a couple of remote bars here.
  • Laemtong Beach – There will be a few others around here, but not too many people in comparison to Koh Phi Phi Leh! The sand here is just as white as Maya Bay, and the sea just as blue.
  • Hin Klang – For snorkelling its got to be the #1 spot on the island, relatively unheard of, you have a better chance of seeing sharks here than you would at the ‘Shark Point’
  • Runtee Beach – If you really want a beach without any other people, this is the one. The sand is not as white as other beaches. But that’s a small sacrifice to have the place to yourself.
  • Nui Bay – On the northernmost tip of Phi Phi Don, the remote bay is in my opinion even more beautiful than Maya Bay. Its started to see more and more visitors in recent years, but it’s still worth a visit. You can even walk to this beach from the town! But it’s not an easy hike!

In conclusion, if you are going to be in Phuket, Koh Phi Phi or Krabi. One of the best things you can do is a Private Phi Phi Island Boat Tour.

There is no better way to visit the gorgeous Maya Bay and so many other fantastic snorkelling destinations.

Prices for a Phi Phi Island Boat Tour won’t break the bank, and even on a backpackers budget, a private boat charter can be totally affordable. If you’ve travelled around the world to reach the islands. Don’t cheap out on a miserable tour, booking a semi-private or private tour is the way to go!

Top Tours to Phi Phi Island from Phuket

Phi Phi in Thailand is made up of six different islands: Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Leh, Biddah Nok, Biddah Nai, Yung, and Pai.

If you’re a solo traveler , you can buy ferry tickets for this route from 12Go Asia , Thailand’s main transportation aggregator. They have multiple ferries and speedboats departing throughout the day.

Going alone means you can only go to Phi Phi Don, not the other nearby destinations or the famous Maya Bay. For those, you’ll need to join a tour or be a bit crazy (like me) and go ocean kayaking.

Tip! For most trips, the 400 baht per person national park fee is not included in the price.

1. Phi Phi Islands Adventure Day Trip with Seaview Lunch

Best Overall Phi Phi Islands Tour

Snorkel in two locations : Bamboo Island and Pileh Lagoon . Learn about the birds in the local delicacy “bird’s nest soup” at Viking Cave and a close encounter with the playful residents of Monkey Beach . Wander through the beautiful Maya Bay , a paradise famed for its appearance in the Hollywood blockbuster, ‘The Beach.’

Lunch will be a seaview buffet that caters to many dietary restrictions and will not be shared with other boat trips.

This popular tour puts your comfort at the forefront, offering Phuket hotel transfers, snacks, a buffet lunch, snorkeling equipment, and life jackets.

2. Phi Phi Island Private Boat Tour

Best Private Tour

RATING:  5/5 Stars | LENGTH:  6-8 Hours |   Book it!

Experience the magic of Thailand all for just you and your group with this private Phi Phi boat tour. This private excursion guarantees 6-8 hours of customizable adventure cruising through the region, all at a flat fee for up to 15 people.

Beat the crowds with an early stop at Maya Bay . Snorkeling in Pileh Bay’s mesmerizing blue lagoon is next, with all snorkeling equipment provided. Then, learn the history behind Viking Cave and the natural habitats of the residents at Monkey Beach.

Break for lunch, where your local English-speaking guide will provide top-notch restaurant recommendations for your meal, or you can choose yourself.

In the afternoon, set sail to Nui Beach and Rang Yai for a final snorkel or a sunset on the white sandy beach.

Snorkeling gear, drinks, and transport are included, with the option to store any luggage. Secure this flat fee for your group and customize your pace for the day.

3. Phi Phi Sunrise Trip

Best Option to Avoid the Crowds

RATING:  5/5 Stars | LENGTH:  8 Hours |   Book it!

Rise and shine in the wee hours of the morning for this Sunrise by Simba Sea Trips . Hop on this 8 hour full-day tour, outsmarting the crowds with an early sunrise start.

The trip prides itself on being among the first to arrive at the iconic Maya Bay. Plus, you get to have a complimentary breakfast on the beach.

Then, like many other tour itineraries, snorkel at the emerald lagoons, caves, and see monkeys playing around. Before the day ends, you can choose your final destination: Bamboo Island or Rang Yai .

Arrive back for lunch at the popular Soho pool club restaurant, a great end to the trip.

The tour is capped at a maximum of 18 travelers . The inclusions are generous, with National Park fees (a rarity), meals, driver/guide, hotel transfer, snorkeling equipment, and even WiFi onboard.

4. Phi Phi and James Bond Private Boat Tour

Best Combination of James Bond and Phi Phi

Jet to not one but two national parks on this private Phi Phi and James Bond Private Boat Tour , for you and your group. This full-day itinerary lasts 6-8 hours, accommodating up to 15 attendees for a flat fee booking.

Your itinerary will start like many others on this list, featuring famous Thai spots like Maya Beach, Pileh Lagoon, and the Viking Cave. That’s where the similarities end.

Pause for a local lunch before setting sail to Phang Nga Bay . Here, you’ll witness the filming location for “The Man with the Golden Gun” at James Bond Island.

Then, glide around Hong Island in a complimentary canoe ride , ending your adventure lounging on the unspoiled beaches of Ko Rang Yai.

Your package includes perks such as beverages, WiFi, private transportation, and snacks. Just a heads up, National Park Fees are not included in this trip, and the fee is going up to 700 baht per adult since you’ll be visiting multiple national parks.

5. Snorkeling Phi Phi, Khai, MayaBay, Maiton, Bamboo Islands Tour

Most Budget-Friendly Day Trip

RATING:  4.5/5 Stars | LENGTH:  8-10 Hours |   Book it!

For those seeking more comfort, the premium upgrade gets you a smaller group, better service, and the addition of Bamboo Island to your sightseeing list.

Regardless of your choice, each tour includes hotel transfers, all national park fees, a buffet lunch with halal and vegetarian options, beverages, snacks, fruits, snorkeling equipment, and safety equipment. Quite the bang for your baht!

6. Hype Yacht : VIP Tour Phi Phi & Maya Bay

This VIP Hype Yacht – Phi Phi & Maya Bay Tour is your golden ticket to fancy town. With 8.5 hours of exclusive use of a luxurious yacht , grab up to 15 of your friends to make this dream come true.

But really this is just an excuse to have a floating party! Chill to cool beats spun by your own private DJ as you feast on a tasty gourmet lunch at Maya Bay . Oh, and there are loads of yummy snacks and refreshing complimentary drinks all day.

Packed onboard is other exciting stuff, like snorkeling gear to explore the incredible underwater world. And guess what? Everything’s included . Yes, even the National Park Fees .

The only downside? It’s only bookable 3 times a week from November through April. But for the other half a year, you can opt instead to go to Krabi and Phang Nga Bay with the same Hype Yacht.

FAQs About Phuket to Phi Phi Tours

Phi Phi tours range from $50 to $150 for a shared boat, while private boats can cost around $1000 for 15 people. But this is just an average.

To reach Phi Phi from Phuket , you can take a ferry or speedboat. Ferries are more affordable but slower, taking about 2 hours. Speedboats are faster, taking around 45 minutes to 1 hour. Both options are readily available and can be booked through a operator or at the pier yourself.

While a day trip to Phi Phi Island can give you a taste of its beauty and attractions, I recommend spending at least an overnight if you have the time. If you have only one day, visit popular spots like Maya Bay, Monkey Beach, and the Viewpoint.

Yes, a Phuket to Phi Phi day trip is definitely worth it. It’s known for its limestone cliffs, crystal clear water, coral reefs, and vibrant marine life. You can go snorkeling, swimming, sunbathing, and exploring iconic locations like Maya Bay.

Phi Phi can be a bit pricey compared to other spots in Thailand, especially for places to stay and things to do. But there are choices for every budget, so you’ll find both fancy and affordable options.

The best time to visit Phi Phi Island is during the dry season, from November to April. The weather is usually sunny with minimal rainfall, perfect for beach activities and exploring. However, this is peak season, so expect bigger crowds and higher prices. For a quieter but wetter experience, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons of May to October.

Phuket is a tourist hub of activities and vibrant nightlife. It’s a place with endless options. In contrast, Phi Phi is smaller and more relaxed, known for its natural beauty. If you want more of a city vibe, choose Phuket. For a serene getaway, Phi Phi is perfect.

Swimming in the archipelago is generally considered safe, but be aware of the tides and currents, especially during certain seasons when the sea conditions can change. Swim in designated swimming areas and avoid areas with strong waves or dangerous rocks.

Final Thoughts: Best Phi Phi Island Tour

Phi Phi and the whole area around Phuket (like Krabi & Railay Beach, Khao Lak, Khao Sok National Park, and smaller islands like Koh Phayam ) are seriously amazing spots in Southeast Asia .

With towering karst cliffs and clear turquoise waters, these places are a must-visit on any Thailand itinerary. Aside from Phi Phi Don, you’ll need to join a tour to explore the other destinations.

In case you’re still not sure which to pick:

  • For an award-winning classic, join this Adventure Day Trip with Seaview Lunch.
  • For a private experience, sign up for this Private Boat Tour.
  • To avoid the crowds, book this Sunrise trip.
