Cycling: Trek – Segafredo became the Lidl – Trek team over the course of last season. In 2024 the name will stay the same, but the squad will change a lot. Despite a good 23 season, the American team is now moving to the next level of development.

Lidl – Trek lands on the podium 83 times

With 27 wins this season and 56 additional podium finishes, the American team Lidl – Trek can be very satisfied with the 2023 season. Especially the development of Mattias Skjelmose needs to be highlighted. The Dane won seven races, including the overall Tour de Suisse and the national championship. Once again, his fellow countryman ensured the team's greatest successes Mads Pedersen. Cycling Team Trek – Segafredo 2022

This page is committed to Cycling Team Trek – Segafredo 2022. I use it as a hub related to the team and will link each rider to his bike size review as the season goes on.

The team is strong on the Classics with specialists like Jasper Stuyven, Edward Theus, and Mads Pedersen. For the Grand Tours, the team lacks a strong leader. There are excellent riders able to get into the top ten of the General Classification. I think of Julien Bernard, Kenny Elissonde, Bauke Mollema and Giulio Ciccone.

This year I look for the Eritrean rider, Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier, and the American Quinn Simmons to win some stages. They are gaining experience and confidence as they race.

At the time of writing, it’s still too early to know the complete season plans for each rider. However, the plans are as below:

PEDERSEN Mads, HOOLE Daan, KIRSCH Alex, SKUJIŅŠ Toms, STUYVEN Jasper, THEUNS Edward, and VERGAERDE Otto race the Hell of the North aka 119th Paris-Roubaix .

CICCONE Giulio, CATALDO Dario, SKJELMOSE JENSEN Mattias, LÓPEZ Juan Pedro, MOLLEMA Bauke, MOSCA Jacopo, THEUNS Edward, and VERGAERDE Otto are racing the 105th Giro d’Italia .

PEDERSEN Mads, CICCONE Giulio, SIMMONS Quinn, GALLOPIN Tony, KIRSCH Alex, MOLLEMA Bauke, SKUJIŅŠ Toms, and STUYVEN Jasper are selected to start the 109th Tour de France .

BERNARD Julien, TIBERI Antonio, HOOLE Daan, ELISSONDE Kenny, LÓPEZ Juan Pedro, KIRSCH Alex, CATALDO Dario, and PEDERSEN Mads are racing La Vuelta a Espana 2022 .

An interesting fact about the team Trek – Segafredo, they do the bike fitting at the end of the season. Precisely at the Il Lombardia race in Italy, which is the last race of the year. Usually, teams do their bike fitting at the first training camps of the season. It means Trek – Segafredo is already set to focus on riding at that time.

Same Bikes as 2021

As the sponsor name indicates, Trek -Segafredo team races on Trek bikes. Like many teams, the riders have three models available to them.

The models are the Trek Emonda SLR9 for the mountains, the Madone SLR9 for the Sprinters, and the Trek Speed-Concept for Time Trial races. The Trek Domane will be in use on the Paris-Roubaix and Flandrian classics. The bikes are the same as in 2021. However, Trek – Segafredo has a habit of updating things mid-season. The gears are SRAM Red eTap AXS 12 speeds with a Quark power meter in the crankset.

Bearings are Ceramic bearings from Kogel. All the components, including the seat posts, the saddles, handlebars, stems, are from the Bontrager catalog.

The wheels are, therefore, the Bontrager Aeolus RSL51 for most races. Pirelli, the Italian brand, provides tubeless and tubular tires. Stans sealant is in use.

The team uses Wahoo Elment GPS head units.

Fact, the Trek – Segafredo uses Shimano Dura-Ace pedals with hidden logos. It certainly would look like a mismatch on SRAM-sponsored bikes.

The team wears Santini Jerseys and bib-shorts. Bontrager helmets and KCO Sunglasses.

Pirelli sides with the World Tour Team Trek-Segafredo once again

You don't change a winning team. If anything, you need to strengthen the link between the team members and study new ways of working and making progress together. This is what the World Tour Team Trek-Segafredo, one of the most competitive cycling teams in the world, decided to do with the help of Pirelli, who has supplied the team's athletes with tyres to train and compete with and technical support to get the most out of their product features for over a year.

The announcement comes directly from the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, which just recently hosted the 17th round of this year's Formula 1 championship: in 2022 and 2023, the World Tour Trek-Segafredo team will be joined by Pirelli once more, and from next year also with the P Lunga logo on the team's jerseys. But especially on the tyres, in a relationship of mutual enrichment that will always focus on technological development.

A fairly new partnership, but one that has already been consolidated, and that is proving concretely satisfactory in terms of product development, but also from a performance perspective: in just two seasons racing on Pirelli P Zero, several athletes in the team have reached the podium in major races. Examples of this are Jasper Stuyven's first place in the Milano-Sanremo, Elisa Longo Borghini's third place in the Liège-Bastogne-Liège, or Elizabeth Deignan's recent victory in the Paris-Roubaix, whose roughness made the role of tyres particularly important for the success in the race.

At the same time, the partnership with the US team helps Pirelli understand the needs of those who rely on the brand's tyres to achieve their goals, a significant piece of equipment that can impact in a decisive way on competitive activity.
