Dodge Journey Horn Not Working: 5 Most Common Causes
A functioning horn is one of a vehicle’s most critical safety features. If your Dodge Journey’s horn isn’t working, there are a few potential causes. We’ll cover each of them, starting with the easiest and most likely issues and working from there. A test light can make diagnosing a horn that isn’t working much easier.
The horn is typically located behind the front grill on the Dodge Journey and is usually pretty easy to change if necessary.
1. Fuse Blown
A blown fuse is often the reason why your Journey’s horn stops working and should be the first thing you check (unless the airbag light is on ). If it is, go down to section 3.
Your Journey’s horn fuse could be located in the engine compartment or under the dash. A sticker inside the fuse box should tell what each fuse does on the backside of its door. You can also check your vehicle’s manual for a schematic of the fuse locations.
Testing the Fuse
It’s easy to test your Journey’s horn fuse. If you have access to a test light, you don’t need to pull the fuse at all.
Clamp the test light onto a good ground source (metal that’s not painted that bolts to the body, chassis, engine block, or negative battery terminal).
Once your test light is grounded, test the Journey’s horn fuse by touching both electrical contacts. If only one of them is hot, then the fuse has failed. If they both light up the test light, the fuse is OK.
You can pull the fuse and look at the element that connects the two fuse blades. If it’s broken, the fuse is blown. You’ll need to determine what caused the horn fuse to fail in the first place. Otherwise your Journey’s horn will stop working again.
2. Horn Wiring Harness
Take a look at the horn’s wiring harness. It’s another quick thing you can check when your Dodge Journey has a broken horn. It’ll be tucked in behind the grill.
Is it connected to the horn all the way? Follow it and look for any burned, damaged, or scarred wiring. Repair as needed and see if the horn works.
3. Broken Clock Spring
A clock spring allows the steering wheel to rotate without turning the wiring harness inside the steering wheel.
On a modern vehicle like the Dodge Journey, the clock spring supports a minimum of two systems (the airbag and the horn). If your vehicle has steering wheel controls, the inputs for those go through the clockspring as well.
Testing the Clock Spring
There are two ways to test your Journey’s clock spring. You can turn the wheel back and forth and observe what happens, or you can use an OBD II scanner (if the airbag light is on).
Turn the Wheel
Push the horn button and turn the steering wheel while you continuously press the horn. If the horn works at different angles or the airbag light goes on and off, that indicates that the clock spring has gone bad.
Use a Code Reader
It’s highly likely that your Dodge Journey’s airbag light will also be on when the clock spring is bad. You can use an OBDII code reader to determine what is causing it to come on. It should confirm that the clock spring has failed.
4. Faulty Horn Relay
The horn button sends power through the clock spring, down the harness, and to the horn relay. The horn relay will be located under your Journey’s hood in the relay box. It might be under the dash (not usually the case). The video below shows how to test the horn relay.
5. Horn Failure
It’s quite possible that your Dodge Journey’s horn has failed. It has likely failed if it has a solid ground connection and power at the harness connection. You can test it using a jump wire from the battery straight into the power. Check out the video above for a quick way of trying it.

Dodge Journey horn not working – causes and how to fix it
The horn is an important safety feature in your Dodge Journey. Driving your vehicle with a broken horn can be dangerous for you and others on the road. If the horn does not honk in your Journey when you press the button on the steering wheel, it can have various causes. What these are and what you can do about it, we explain in this article.
Some of the common causes that stops the horn from working normally on your Dodge Journey are blown fuse, bad relay, faulty horn, corroded or worn out connector, broken wire, broken clock spring or bad horn button.
1. Blown fuse
The horn on Dodge Journey needs electricity to work. In case of a faulty fuse, the circuit is interrupted and the horn can not work.
Check your Journey’s owners manual or the fuse box cover to find the exact location of the fuse for the horn. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one with the specified amp rating.
To check the fuse, pull it out of Journey’s fuse box using a fuse puller or needle nose plier and hold it against the light. If the metal strip is broken in the middle, the fuse has blown. You must replace it with one of the same amperage and therefore the same color. It does not matter in which direction you insert the fuse.
2. Bad relay
Relays are electromagnetic switches that are used to switch electrical loads on and off. A bad relay can also be the cause of horn failure on your Dodge Journey.
First of all, you should find out where the horn relay is located in your particular model of Journey. The information may be listed in your vehicle’s owners manual. Typically relays are located in the engine compartment or under the steering wheel on the left-hand side. If you are lucky, the wiring diagram will be drawn on the facing. Before starting the replacement, you must always disconnect the vehicle’s battery.
As soon as you have identified the relay for the horn, you should check whether there is an identical relay in the box, typically you can use AC relay to test the horn relay. With this you can easily test whether the electromagnetic switch is actually the cause of the malfunctioning horn on your Journey. Most relays are plugged in, but they can still be relatively tight. Be careful not to damage anything when removing the relays. Remember: The battery should be reconnected after replacing the relay – otherwise no current will flow.
3. Bad horn
A broken horn could be the reason why you can no longer honk on your Dodge Journey. Horns rarely break down, they can last decades and can even outlive the life of the vehicle. Still, it can fail depending on how often you use it. In particular, if the horn is working but sounds off, it’s because one of the horns has worn out.
You can test the horn on your Journey by checking the voltage at the connector or with a test light.
4. Broken wire or bad connector
The horn sits at the front of your Dodge Journey where grime and other small particles can build up over time. This can lead to corrosion on the connector resulting in poor conductivity. You don’t necessarily have to replace the corroded connector, in most cases the connector can be cleaned with WD-40. For safety reasons, make sure the battery is disconnected when cleaning the connector, and the connector is fully dry before you plug it back in.
If you don’t see any corrosion on the connector of your Journey, then its time to perform the voltage test with a multimeter, or you can also use a test light. Turn on the multimeter and insert the probes into the connector, one at each point making sure the metal part of probes don’t touch each other – otherwise it will short out and blow up the fuse, and may cause damage to the vehicle’s electrical system. After inserting the probes, ask a friend to press the horn button in the vehicle. The multimeter should read 12+ volts, if it reads 0 volts then it indicates conductivity failure in the horn system: a broken wire, bad connector, broken clock spring or faulty switch can be the cause other than blown fuse or bad relay.
Rodent Damage: If bite marks or the like are discovered, there is a high probability that a rodent has let off steam in the engine compartment of your Journey. Then it is important to carefully examine all other cables and hoses for damage, including electrical wires for the horn.
5. Broken clockspring
The spiral cable or clockspring is a spiral-wound special rotary electrical connector in your Dodge Journey which allows the steering wheel to turn while still making an electrical connection between the buttons on the steering wheel, including horn button, and the vehicle’s electrical systems. The clockspring is located between the steering wheel and the steering column. The clockspring contains delicate wires that can get damaged during servicing or due to overuse if the vehicle has put on too many miles.
If the clockspring is damaged in your Journey, you may see other system malfunctions as well. For example, the airbag warning light may illuminate in the instrument cluster, or other buttons on the steering wheel may stop working. But in rare cases, it is possible that only horn wire in the spiral gets damaged.
It is not feasible to repair a damaged clockspring. They are relatively inexpensive and once found defective should be replaced with a new one.
6. Faulty horn button switch
Another reason for non-functioning horn can be failure of horn button in the steering wheel of your Dodge Journey. Over time, depending on how frequently the horn has been used, the button may eventually wear out and cease to function.
There are many reasons why the horn may not be working in your Dodge Journey. When looking for the reason, you should always start with the most obvious cause, blown fuse or faulty relay.
In any case, it is advisable for laypersons to visit a workshop as you can easily do more damage to your vehicle, especially to the electrical system. An expert mechanic can diagnose the issue while you sip coffee in the waiting area.

2010 Dodge Journey horn problem
- Add to quote
I've been having a problem with my horn going off on my vehicle and have been trying to figure out what to do. Here is my advice for everyone that is having this problem. Call 800 992 1997 and file a complaint with Chrysler. I spoke to a women named Elizabeth and she said there hasn't been any complaints filed for this issue. The more people we get to call and complain, hopefully they will recall it. Have your vin number and mileage available when you call. Good luck.
Hi artist2251, Sorry to hear about the concerns you're experiencing with your vehicle! There is a STAR case S1508000292 related to this concern that your dealership can access for more information. If your vehicle is still at the dealership or if you make another appointment I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed, just PM our page with your VIN and let me know. 2010 Journey randomly honks
- Add to quote
I got a 2010 Journey and the last few months it starts randomly honking, doesn’t matter if it’s sitting or driving. The radio and back up camera started working when it wasn’t too, not sure if they are related. Idk where to start
It randomly honks like my 4 year old playing with it, haven’t seen the lights flash or anything to make me think it’s security related. I’ll have to check the radio code when I get home
If it was the security (VTS)-related, the honks would be rhythmic. If they are sporadic and intermittent, it may be a shorting horn pad switch (short to ground)? I had cars that would sit in the sun and begin blowing the horn. If they were parked in the shade, it was cool or overcast, it wouldn't happen. The plastic would distort enough because of the temperature change. Temporarily unplugging the horn pad would help prove this.

Journey's Horn randomly honks
Horn button would be my first thought for a culprit. Might be worth a look to see if any harnesses are shorting to ground under the carpet. Had this (and few other weird things) happen on a Grand Caravan from the same era. The harness under the cargo area floor had rubbed through and a few wires were shorting to ground.

Thanks guys for all your help, I can’t wait for a day off so I can get it figured out for sure
I also own a '10 Journey with the same issue, and am also a Michigander. Started out with horn randomly honking, then months later the headlights and tail lights would come on and go out in conjunction with wipers turning on and off only while running or parked with key in run position. Then new battery started dying. Finally I started hearing the built in relays in the TIPM clicking on and off with everything off- no key, nobody in the vehicle. As a master mechanic, I have come to the conclusion that the TIPM (otherwise known as underhood fuse box) is shorting internally, a known common problem with Chryslers.

My 2010 Dodge Journey started recently its not starting when I turn the key it just goes click. After a while it might start or if I put the car in neutral it might start. The horn also goes off on it's on from time to time . The vehicle was stationary the times it wouldn't start but it was both stationary and moving in traffic when horn went off.
37 Horn Assembly problem
The vehicles battery drains overnight with nothing left on. The horn goes off on its own weather the vehicles is in motion or parked. The vehicles cut off in the middle of the freeway and mechanic guy can not find anything wrong. I have seen many complaints from customers with same problem on other platforms online.
38 Horn Assembly problem
Tamara recall- my horn randomly honks while I'm driving, sitting at a red light, and while it's parked. The beep will last as long as 5-10 seconds. All times of the day. Yesterday 2/15/19 replaced thepart# p/n 4692305ai power module inv# 11491 and it still honks randomly today 2/16/19. It's very dangerous now days and I live in the city. This has happened numerous times in the last month a before the repair. And numerous times 6 months ago. Then I went to a dealership and had my remote tested it was fine. The honking happened a few more times then stopped until a month ago. Today 2/16/19 is the start of the third series of this problem.
39 Horn Assembly problem
Cars horn starts beeping whenever it wants. Traction control goes off whenever it wants keeping us from getting car in drive. Lost power to everything when driving down highway. Return line of power steering pump has ruptured 6 times in the last year. It just did it again 1-20-2019. The last rupture wasted the pump.
40 Horn Assembly problem
Horn consistently blowing while car is turn off sitting stationary, while driving all hours of day and night. Took horn fuses out to stop horn from blowing. As soon as we put fuses back in horn starts blowing as if the car is possessed. Horn blowing on own while driving down city streets, highways and stationary. Noticed head lights flashing as if alarm going off. Clicking noise as if electrical wires are touching coming from fuse box area. Draining battery had to replace battery within 6 months of purchase. Changed the car engine computer cause that went out,not sure if that's a result of this issue. There are a huge number of complaints about the same or similar problems if you google it. Took to several independent mechanics no one can detect the issue. Apparently the Dodge dealerships can't detect problem either according to the complaints I've read on google. Please help us this problem is annoying! to many complaints about the same issue and no one can detect the problem! there need to be a recall! I'm afraid my car is going to catch on fire! problem started in 2017 and has been going on for about 2-3 yrs now off and on. Horn blew on its own when put fuses back in as late as today. 01/05\19.
41 Horn Assembly problem
Horn randomly goes off while sitting and driving. Doesn't matter if the car is running or not! creates a major distraction for everyone on the road and could result in accidents and/or road rage incidents while at a traffic light or stop sign!.
42 Horn Assembly problem
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the electrical system was malfunctioning. The contact had to replace two batteries in the last month. The horn unexpectedly would start blowing along with the windshield wipers starting up. The contact took the fuse out of both to stop them from continuously going on and off. . An unknown dealer set a diagnostic appointment for next week. The manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The failure mileage was 167,846 . Tf.
43 Horn Assembly problem
Dash makes clicking noises, the horn goes off by itself, I could be driving or just sitting still, this has been going on for about 2 years, took it in twice to have it checked, they all are confused as why this is happening.
44 Horn Assembly problem
November 20, 2018 \ horn for my 2010 Dodge Journey se has been going off by itself repeatedly over the past 2 years. Happens without warning and at all times of the day and night goes off while parked in my driveway and while going down main streets and highways. Length of time it goes off varies. This has drained my battery and has on occasion, has completely disabled my horn. Local Dodge dealer, interstate Dodge, west monroe, la, said they found no problem with the horn when I took it in for service. However, it still goes off without notice. Most recently today, 11\20\2018. It finally stopped when I turned the ignition to "acc". Am seriously concerned the entire electrical system of my 2010 Dodge Journey se is at risk. This car could "die" on me in traffic.
45 Horn Assembly problem
I was picking up my kids from school and my horn kept going off. It went of all the way home I had to disconnect the battery because it wouldn't stop. Even after it was turned off and parked.
46 Horn Assembly problem
While driving the horn on the vehicle blows for no apparent reason. We removed the horn fuses and it did stop, but once put back in the horn blows continuously while driving.
47 Horn Assembly problem
It started with a window not going up, then the electrical wires to the front left headliggt burned out and melted the bulb connector. Bulb connector was replaced and it happened again. Keyless entry fobs stopped working, batteries were changed and fobs were tested but they still don't work. Alarm goes off at random times and takes us starting and moving the car 50 feet to turn it off. The other night the car horn went off in the middle of the night randomly, about 12 times. Now the hornnis going off as we drive for no reason. This car ckearly has electrical issues. Electrical parts keep burning out causing me to change them for reinspection time by the state.
48 Horn Assembly problem
About a week ago my horn started going off while I was driving to work in the morning it was so out of the blue that I didn't even realize it was me right away, I was able to pull of the road, tapped the horn a couple of times thinking it might have just got stuck after a couple minutes it just stopped I thought it was just a one time freak incident so I paid it no mind until 4am this morning while it was parked in the driveway once again my horn just start going again for like 3 or 4 minutes then it would stopped and start again it did this about 4 times waking my neighbors. When the sun came up I was finally able to figure out which fuses to pull to disconnect the horn and while searching to find this out I saw that many other Dodge Journey owners have had the same problem. There need to be some kind of recall I can't drive without a horn thats a safety hazard but with the world we live in now I also can't have a horn just going off at any time in traffic some people might think you are blowing at them. This is a issue Dodge needs to address and fix.
49 Horn Assembly problem
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. When the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it resumed normal operation. The contact stated that the failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken multiple times to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. In addition, two weeks prior to the failure, the horn was beeping independently while the vehicle was parked. The contact also stated that the vehicle was overheating. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was currently at an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. The VIN was not available.
50 Horn Assembly problem
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the horn was sounding without being pressed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 96,000.
51 Horn Assembly problem
Horn has been going off randomly. It has gone off while sitting, locked and unlocked, parked in the driveway as well as in the garage. It has gone off in all types of weather, hot, cold and rain or shine. It has also gone off while driving. I have look for and not seen any lights or indicators flashing or going off while the horn was honking and have only been able to stop it by removing the fuses. I reinstall the fuses and it may go a day, a week or more before it does it again. Sam leman Chrysler Jeep ram fiat morton has been very helpful in trying to repair this issue but it is getting very costly. Recently tried to allow a relative to take a driving test to obtain their drivers license but the car will not pass the safety inspection without a horn. Driving without a horn is a safety issue and is an issue on numerous Chrysler cars and in my opinion Chrysler needs to resolve this issue. At this time I put the fuses in when we drive it hoping the horn will not go off while driving and then remove the fuses when we park it.
52 Horn Assembly problem
My 2010 Dodge joruneys horn goes off all on its own. When its parked, in the middle of the night and also when I am driving. Sometimes it will go on for a few minutes to where I have to pull the fuses to get it to stop. Also the car wont always start, I have to push the brake and put it in n in order to get it to start. There are times jm at a redlight or in traffic and it will just shut off and not turn back on. It clicks but will not start. Sometimes it takes multiple times to get it to start. Ive taken it to the shop to try to get all this fixed and they cant seem to find the cause of eaither problem. Its embarassing when your driving down the road and your horn starts beeping and people in front of you start getting mad. Also dangerous when it just shuts off and wont start back up.
53 Horn Assembly problem
My vehicle's horn sounds intermittently while stationary, in motion and whether the engine is running or not. It sounds on city streets as well as highways. I had my vehicle in the dealership sevice 4 times for this issue. A repair was attempted to change the fusebox but that didn't resolve the issue. I took it back to the dealership after the failed repair and I was told they couldn't recreate the issue so there was no service they could provide. The blowing has created incidents of road rage while I was driving and on a separate incident startled a driver who was waiting for pedestrian to cross the street causing them to almost hit the pedestrian because my car strarted blowing violently at them. This issue is a risk to my and my family's safety. I contacted Chrysler service center and was also told the dealership had to be able to recreate the issue. It's a timing issue and the vehclie's malfunction is unpredictable. I need help resolving this safety hazzard. I have been told that warped clock springs may be the issue but it is unknown to me.
54 Horn Assembly problem
My 2010 Dodge Journey sxt is experiencing major electrical problems due to the horn honking on it's own as if it were possessed! it occurs while driving as well as when parked overnight. I had it serviced several months ago when problem started and dealer changed clock spring stating it was fixed. Well the problem reoccured and now it has drained the battery completely dead several time to the point of needing a new battery. After jump starting car and leaving it idle for 30 min. To charge system I tried to drive it in for service but the car wouldn't shift correctly, making it impossible to drive to service station. This is a dangerous problem that I have never experienced with any other vehicle I've owned. This is also a common occurrence among thousands of Dodge Journey owners found on internet tech assist sights. The Dodge manufacturer service rep. Advised me to file a complaint due to extended coverage being out of date. Please advise on what my legal options are here in new york.
55 Horn Assembly problem
Horn starts sounding when car is parked in the garage and engine is off. This has happened 3 or more times over the last 2 weeks.
56 Horn Assembly problem
The horn blows by itself, while driving and while sitting in the garage unoccupied. It has shut off while driving in heavy traffic and I had to put it in neutral to restart it. The aur bag light has come on and apparently in the words of my mechanic "I can't find anything wrong with it". The air and heat stopped working in the back of the vehicle last year. The check engine light goes on and off. I've had it towed to the shop twice because it would not start, just to be told it cranked right up once at the shop and again "I can't find anything wrong with it". It doesn't accelerate like it's supposed to when taking off, jerks and lags, and once accelerated it continues to jerk and lag.
57 Horn Assembly problem
1st for no reason the horn goes off, I had to pull the fusees so I can keep my neighbors I'm driving around with no horn at this time. 2nd heater core was only heating one side of the car, 3rd passenger seat belt locks up the moment car starts.
58 Horn Assembly problem
Horn/alarm goes off randomly and intermittently. No pattern to the beeping. Nothing causes it- happens while the car is locked, unlocked, parked, driving. Cannot be replicated at the dealer. Had to pull the fuses, now I have no horn. Has been happening for several years. Multiple trips to the dealership with no resolution.
59 Horn Assembly problem
The horn keeps going off on its own and I've taken it to the dealership many times and they still haven't fixed it and I've done research and it also has something to do with the airbag deteriorating.
60 Horn Assembly problem
Horn began to randomly honk while off, unoccupied. Continued to randomly honk when driven also.
61 Horn Assembly problem
I have a 2010 Dodge Journey 81,000 miles & had it about 1 year. Over the past 6 months I have bought 6 batteries because my car would fail to start. My front wipers would randomly move when the care was parked and no one in it then my back wipers would do the same. The Dodge ram light on my dashboard would come on randomly when the care was parked and key was not in the ignition. Finally took it to the Dodge dealership in Feb, they replaced the battery, kept the care for over a week, called me and stated that the car had a battery drainage problem but when on the diagnostic test, the problem wouldn't show its face long enough for the mechanic to track down the problem. They also stated the reason my horn didn't work was because someone took out the fuse. When they put the fuse back in, my horn would randomly go off no matter if it was parked or if I was driving it. I took the car back home and sure enough, less than a week later, same issue. They kept the car for another 2 weeks, same outcome! could not track down the issue. A week after I got the car back, I was driving and as I pressed the gas, my car wouldn't accelerate!! I was in 5pm traffic with 2 kids, almost caused a wreck trying to get over to a parking lot. My steering wheel would hardly move! had to have the car towed again to the Dodge dealership. I have asked again and again if it was the tipm but I get nowhere!!!! this car is possessed and Dodge seems to not care enough to fix the problem or find it for that matter. I dont feel safe driving it (I cant at the moment because they have to fix the fuel pump which is ran by what. . . . You guessed it the tipm)! I never know if the car is going to start from moment to moment nor do I know if im going to be stranded on the side of the road with my children. Again! a car should not have this may issues and the dealership not knowing or acknowledging the problem!.
62 Horn Assembly problem
The horn honks on it's own and will not shut off. The horn will start to honk while driving.
63 Horn Assembly problem
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the horn would erroniously activate. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent and would randomly occur. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. 64 Horn Assembly problem
While driving my Dodge Journey the horn began to blow extensively. I was not manually blowing the horn. The horn began to blow on it's own, then it would stop for approximately 3 minutes, then start again. Next day, it did the same but with different time intervals. It was blowing intermittently. When I was home, while the car was parked and locked, the horn began to blow again. I finally had to take fuses out. I'm now driving without a horn, I carry a purchased horn in the car. Online there are hundreds of complaints about this issue and make of car. The fix is pricey! people are not aware that they should come to this site to initiate a recall so that the manufacturer will aide us with repair. Please help us.
65 Horn Assembly problem
The horn beeps at random times when im not driving and even while driving. My windows come down on their own at random times and sometimes it wont start.
66 Horn Assembly problem
Left and right horn activated at random while driving and parked, night and/or day. Dealership can not pin point the problem. Several complaints on this problem all over the internet.
67 Horn Assembly problem
I have a 2010 Dodge Journey bought it a week ago with 108k miles after I brought it home horn would go off by itself had to pull the fuses out to get it to stop and now recently when trying to accelerate the rpm will go to 5000 at a speed of 40 mph and won't shift and it will cost me a fortune to get it diagnosed and repaired.
68 Horn Assembly problem
While parked, locked and unattended the horn kept honking and would not stop. Had to remove fuses 22 and 23. Other people have reported this same problem for this same type of vehicle and they have not had any resolution. A horn is required to drive incase of emergency to avoid collisions. It is criminal that Dodge will not address this dangerous problem. Help is need here, please. Https://dodgeforum. Com/forum/Dodge-journey/375847-2010-journey-with-honking-issue-4. Html.
69 Horn Assembly problem
1st thing was the horn, randomly honking at all hours of the day of night. It had stopped. . . . For now. . . . But now my car is not starting. For some reason it won't turn over, I can turn key to let it do it's emission test before starting then turning key to start, it just clicks and doesn't start. Car has done it at grocery store, daycare, work, even shut off by itself while stopped at a red light.
70 Horn Assembly problem
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. On several occasions, the horn inadvertently honked. The vehicle was taken to suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of garden city located at 32850 Ford rd, garden city, mi 48135 (734) 421-5700 where the horn was disconnected. The contact stated that the failure recurred. While attempting to remove the key from the ignition, the key was stuck in the ignition and had to be forcefully removed. On several occasions, the key fob failed to operate and drained the battery. The engine warning indicator illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the key fob needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system, air bags). The approximate failure mileage was 51,284.

Hi this is my first post maybe I am at the wrong place but anyhow hi again.
I am attempting to see if the horn issues of old has been solved. My wife DJ 2010 has the "curse of the horn" which goes off by it self and gets the attention of my whole neighborhood and also their indignation .
It's been a problem approximately 10 to 8 months now
I am unable to find a solution I would be extremely happy if I can be pointed in the right direction. Lots of information about about clock springs etcetera but no one seems to have a real popular opinion and guarantee outcome for this particular problem
Is there been recall ?

Welcome to the Forum!
Yes you have a mostly common problem with the early gen Journey and a few of it's cousin vehicles(200/Sebring/Avenger/ Dakota). This problem can have a number of causes to have to track down(and it's not quick and easy). Most have found either a worn door latch/or wiring to one OR a faulty circuit inside the TIPM/ Fuse panel out in the engine compartment.
John/Horace
If too crazy to track down cause. Could add a toggle switch to horn power feed. Enable horn when it’s really needed. Just a thought.
Shout out to 5rebel9 and John/Horace thanks A lot for your input I will try by going in easy to do on direction first
Thinking of installing as temporary fail safe a toggle sw in horn circuit while I troubleshoot it in the summer as it is still cold and no indoor parking
The latch sounds like the next step
How do check for a faulty latch?
Thanks again
Multi meter set to continuity or beep setting. Cycle hood switch to see if it sometimes loses continuity.
Or make up a jumper or pigtail and bypass switch completely for a few days.
Much oblige ?

very satisfied so far, speedy service and customer friendly, This is my 3rd one in the past year, the last 2 were purchased from a Florida re-builder and both times they failed within 3 months. there prices were higher and there turn around time between 6 to 9 weeks.
A local shop wanted to charge me $4,500 to install a new TIPM, I removed mine and sent it in to Module Masters. They repaired it and had it back to me in a week and I was able to install it and get back on the road!
After reinstalling my Module Master rebuilt TIPM, everything electrical is working correctly!! Thanks so much for a quality job!

There used to be complaints about IOM but that was a long time ago. Recently things seem OK there and you get the results the same day assuming your lady doesn't have to run around Moscow getting additional tests which is very unlikely. The Filatov clinic used to be hardly used due to limited hours, being hard to reach, and I think more expensive. But recently a third clinic. MOM, was taken off the approved list for some reason. It used to be one of the main clinics. So Filatov has become more used. I'd probably use IOM but I'm not up on recent experiences there and no one has posted much about medical experiences lately.
I hope those with recent interviews will share about the clinics they used.

I think there was a post on VJ (somewhere) that MOM is the Russian acronym for IOM. So, possibly it was just the acronym that was removed. The US Embassy web site (Moscow) lists three clinics, but the third one is for another geographic region.
I also hope that there are some postings about recent experiences with these clinics. Olga's stress level about the interview is ramping up, so if I can reduce anxiety about the medical exam, it would be good.
Thank you for the reply.

You're right about MOM, excuse me. The other clinic was AO Meditsina. Yes, there is another clinic for a different city but I forget which one. I'm guessing most people use IOM due to same day results but maybe that is true for Filatov also. Of all the clinics, it seems Filatov is the least reported on clinic. Not much feedback.
I looked at prints from the embassy web site from early last year, and you are correct, AO Meditsina was also a clinic. I wonder why they were dropped? Mmmmmm...foreign intrigue!
I'd like to know also. I can share my wife used AO Meditsina and they had her running all over Moscow getting extra tests and lab work for no clear reason. When she returned the next day for results they had her do more tests. Ultimately they OKed her results but she almost missed her interview because of them. Maybe they had a racket going on to make more money? But I never heard of anyone else having this problem so I don't know. It was a very bad experience for my wife to say the least.
I can imagine the stress level for your wife, and also for you. This is why I thought to ask about the clinics. I'd like to reduce overall stress levels for Olga.
She asked me why a medical exam was required, and joking, I told her they are trying to keep out girls with large feet. Her foot size is a little larger than normal. I thought this was funny, but she was not really amused. Olga has a great sense of humor, and it was then that I realized just how stressed she was about the exam and interview.

There hasn't been anyone complaining about medical exams lately that I'm aware of...so all should go well. But you're wise to not take this too lightly either.
I wish you both an easy medical exam and interview.

hello there,
Filatov's clinic is mainly for those with kids, and in general it has had better reviews.

Meditsina was taken off the list back in October because the Embassy did not renew their certification. Word was that they would reapply some time this year. I'd email the Embassy and inquire; the Embassy isn't always that swift to update their website. They are the best with nice lobby with piano player; like at Bloomingdales!!!
From what I remember from when Alla and Leonid did their medicals last year (Alla got in under the wire at Meditsina) is that Filatov is only doing children (may have changed by now) and IOM was the last resort. Read some of the medical report that can be found around the October - December timeframe last year as there were a few reports from IOM (lots of walking from building to building but not too bad).
Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)
As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

If Olga is interested, she can read the Russian-girls-analogue of VJ http://www.zaokeanom...um/forum24.html But overall, she has nothing to worry about, much as I have read on medicals in Russia, NO ONE has been denied a visa due to medical reasons...or no one posted on such experience . Good luck to you and Olga.
Thank you. This information is helpful. Olga's son is enjoying this process. For him, it is a big adventure. He is more excited about meeting my Chow-Chow dog than anything else. Olga is feeling some stress now, because the pace of activity has increased. She will be OK. I will definitely point her towards that forum.

Tell her to be careful about what she reads on these other forums. I know that Alla did a lot of "research" on these types of forums during our visa waiting process and she read a lot of "horrible movie" stories of other Russians' experiences while living in the US. I was always able to counter these stories and she did her own "verification of the facts" but she may be bombarded with negativism. If she wants/needs, I can have Alla get in contact with her (email or Skype or phone) if she wants to talk to someone live and "been through it".
