Please note that park timings may vary during Ramadan.

It is always best to check the park's website or social media pages for the most up-to-date information.

Best time to visit the Dubai Safari Park

Weekday vs weekend.

Weekdays (Sunday-Wednesday) offer a calmer atmosphere, shorter queues and more opportunities to observe the animals at your own pace. Visit early mornings between 9 am and 11 am for shorter lines to escape the heat and to encounter animals when they're most active.

On the other hand, the park comes alive with families and tourists close to weekends between Thursday and Saturday, leading to busier pathways and potentially longer wait times for shows and attractions.

Peak season vs Low season

For the least crowded experience, prioritize weekdays during the low season, April and May or September and October. If pleasant weather is your top priority, weekdays or early mornings during the peak season, November to March, offer a good balance.

About Safari Park

Dubai Safari Park, located in Al Warqa 5, houses approximately 3,000 animals from all over the world, across a 119-hectare site. The park first opened to the public in December 2017 by Dubai Municipality, under the directive of His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. In 2020, as part of its rebranding strategy, Dubai Municipality revitalized the way that Dubai Safari Park operates, with an emphasis on customer experience, educational projects, and promoting the wide range of animal welfare and conservation strategies that underpin the park’s creation The reimagined Dubai Safari Park consists of five key attractions, including the African Village, Asian Village, Arabian Desert Safari, Explorer Village, and Adventure Valley. Visitors can also explore the free-roaming areas, experience standout attractions such as the Safari Journey and Kids Farm.

Safari Park Dubai team

Owners of Dubai’s new Dh1 billion safari park, Dubai Safari, have promised to ‘look after their animals’. Timothy Husband, Technical Director of Dubai Safari, has reportedly said that the attraction will not exploit its animals in circus-style performances or public interactions; stating that “they will be behaving naturally”.

The Born Free Foundation has welcomed Mr. Husband’s reassurances, but will remain vigilant to the new zoos’ activities. Born Free has recently expressed concern to the UAE authorities over the reports that hundreds of wild animals have been imported into Dubai from Africa and Asia to stock the new zoo. Daniel Turner, a spokesperson for Born Free, who visited Dubai earlier this year, said, “We have asked the Ministry of Environment to take a cautious approach when approving the requests for animal imports for Dubai Safari and further, urged the relocation and rehoming of all the animals from Dubai’s City Zoo to Dubai Safari.” Born Free has campaigned for years for the improvement or closure of Dubai’s City Zoo, where the majority of animals are kept in appalling conditions. Turner continues, “Whilst these animals’ release into the wild is not possible, at least the animals of Dubai City Zoo should have better living conditions in Dubai’s new zoo”

Dubai Safari Park has four themed sections. Enter the Arabian Desert Safari Zone to connect with indigenous flora and fauna. At the African Village, feel the exotic diversity and specialty of the African wildlife. The aptly named Asian Village introduces visitors to the Asian continent’s vibrant biodiversity and iconic wildlife species. The most exhilarating experiences await as you step into the Explorer Village, where you can brace yourself up for a fantastic drive-through session that brings you closer to some majestic creatures, such as cheetahs, tigers, brown lions, etc., all freely roaming in their natural habitat.

Dubai Safari Park is home around 3,000 animals, with 78 species of mammals - including 10 different carnivores and 17 primates - 50 types of reptiles, 111 kinds of birds plus amphibians and invertebrates, all living on the 119-hectare site.

  • Arabian Desert Safari
  • Asian Village
  • Explorer Village
  • African Village

The park offers several experiences that allow guests to have an up-close encounter with its residents across diverse zones. Embark on a thrilling safari journey, join a rhino or bird feeding session, and watch the Amazing Creatures of the World show at the Asian Village Theatre.

Dubai Municipality launches Summer Pass, Ultimate Safari Tour package at ATM

Dubai_Safari_Park_announced_a_super-exclusive_Summer_Pass_ticket__launched_for_the_first_time_to_the_general_public-1715007119917

Dubai: For the first time, Dubai Safari Park will remain open during summer and limited number of guests will be able to visit the Park with a newly launched special summer pass.

Dubai Municipality, which owns and operates the emirate’s wildlife conservation centre, announced this on the opening day of Arabian Travel Market 2024 (ATM) on Monday.

Ahmed Ibrahim AlZarouni, head of Public Parks and Recreational Facilities Department at Dubai Municipality, said the super-exclusive Summer Pass will operate in the non-seasonal months from June to September, featuring three bespoke experiences: Summer Tours, Summer Safari Journey, and Walk in The Wild.

Dubai_Safari_Park-1715007121433

With limited daily batches of tickets available to small groups of up to 10 people, the Summer Pass has been specially designed around the animals’ summer feeding and sleeping patterns, in alignment with Dubai Safari Park’s commitment to animal welfare.

2-hour tours

The two-hour Summer Tours are private experiences hosted twice daily, with morning and evening options, the Summer Tours include the park’s much-loved Safari experiences as well as numerous different animal encounters.

The innovative Summer Safari Journey elevates the safari experience by providing two safari adventures in a private, air-conditioned vehicle accommodating up to 10 guests. For those seeking up-close encounters with wildlife, the all-new “Walk in The Wild” tour presents a 90-minute guided tour in the early morning. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature, observe animals in their natural habitats, capture memorable photos and more.

Ultimate Safari Tour

After achieving 755 per cent year-on-year growth in travel trade sales in 2023, Dubai Safari Park has also launched a new trade-exclusive package to accelerate industry partnerships and boost visitation.

Unveiled at ATM, the Ultimate Safari Tour represents a landmark industry collaboration milestone for Dubai Safari Park as its first-ever ATM exclusive package for travel trade professionals.

Conceived to leverage surging travel trade sales and accelerate new partnerships, the B2B product aims to familiarise travel sector representatives with the 3,000-plus community of animals occupying six themed zones across the 119-hectare site.

Dubai_Safari_Park_is_home_to_3,000-plus_community_of_animals_occupying_six_themed_zones-1715007118002

Available for reservations until May 15 this year, the Ultimate Safari Tour is redeemable through the end of May 2025. The product includes two Safari experiences with a private guide, exclusive use of a VIP electric vehicle for six hours, fast-track access, reserved seating at live presentations, five animal encounters, a souvenir photo, and more.

“Ahead of reconnecting with our local and international travel trade partners at Arabian Travel Market, we spent months canvassing industry stakeholders to create our first customised travel trade product. In celebrating our triple-digit year-on-year growth in travel trade sales milestone, we understand the importance of looking forward. Our goal is to strengthen existing travel trade partnerships and forge new collaborations that widen awareness of the Park’s core value propositions of entertainment, education, and animal welfare,” said AlZarouni.

Industry insights

Al Zarouni will participate in a panel discussion entitled ‘Experience, Culture and Communities: Creating Better Propositions for Experiential Travellers’ alongside other industry leaders on May 7. Taking place on ATM 2024’s Future Stage from 10-10.40am, the session will highlight how tourism businesses, attractions, and destinations must focus on authentic experiences, creative journeys, and cultural immersions to optimise returns.

At ATM, Dubai Safari Park’s immersive and interactive stand features augmented reality activities, a Safari Bus experience and virtual animal selfie spots featuring some of the park’s 3,000-plus animals, as well as educational presentations with live animals.

Summer_Pass_has_been_specially_designed_around_the_animals’_summer_feeding_and_sleeping_patterns-1715007123060

Home to over 3000 animals and 300 different species, Dubai Safari Park encompasses six zones: Al Wadi, African Village, Explorer Village, Arabian Desert Safari, Asian Village and Kids’ Farm. The 119-hectare park also hosts daily educational presentations at scheduled times throughout the day.

Dubai Safari Park also undertakes a wide range of welfare and conservation strategies to help animals and native fauna thrive, and regularly hosts educational and research projects as part of the park’s core values. The park also contributes to the conservation of endangered and vulnerable species through international breeding programmes and external rescue missions, while numerous innovative technologies are integrated into the Park’s physical infrastructure to ensure animals are comfortable throughout the year.

The full list of additional Dubai Safari Park packages including King of Safari, Behind the Scenes, Jungle Capture, and Dine in the Wild, can be found on the park’s website.

Plan your visit - tips and tricks.

Embarking on a journey to Dubai Safari Park? The experience promises to be nothing short of extraordinary! But as with all grand adventures, a little foresight can enhance your experience manifold. Whether you’re a meticulous planner or someone who likes to go with the flow, these tried-and-tested tips and tricks will ensure you make the most of your trip.

1. Dubai Safari Park Best Time To Visit

Dubai, renowned for its sultry climate, can be quite warm during certain months. Hence, visiting the park during the cooler months, typically between November and March, is recommended. The weather is more pleasant, and the animals tend to be more active during these months.

2. Ticketing Details

Purchasing tickets in advance can save you from the long queues. Consider buying combo tickets if you plan to indulge in multiple attractions. Often, there are special discounts for children, senior citizens, and large groups.

3. Pack Smartly

Given Dubai’s temperamental weather, carrying a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen is a must. However, don’t forget a light sweater, as some indoor areas can get chilly due to air conditioning.

4. Comfort is Key

This isn’t the time to break in those new heels or dress shoes. The park is expansive, and you’d be walking quite a bit. So, don your most comfortable pair of walking shoes. Trust us; your feet will thank you.

5. Stay Hydrated

While the park offers several spots to grab a drink, carrying a refillable water bottle can be a lifesaver. Not only is it eco-friendly, but it also ensures you stay hydrated throughout your visit.

6. Plan Ahead with Shows and Feeding Times

The park boasts a plethora of shows and feeding sessions. To avoid disappointment, check the schedule in advance and plan your route accordingly. This ensures you don’t miss out on any of the thrilling experiences on offer.

7. Stay Connected

While it’s tempting to unplug and immerse in the natural wonders, staying connected can be beneficial. Free Wi-Fi spots within the park can help you upload those Insta-worthy moments in real-time or keep track of any schedule changes.

8. Dining Options

While you might be lost in the wonders of the animal kingdom, your stomach will inevitably remind you of its needs. Familiarize yourself with the park’s dining options. Whether you fancy a quick snack or a hearty meal, knowing where to head can be a boon.

Unlocking The Wild: A First-Hand Account Of A Dubai Safari Park Adventure

Surpassing its futuristic architecture and dip into innovation, Dubai is a city that knows how to pluck out global experiences and have them make a grand appearance in its city. Taking inspiration from the African animal safari, Dubai re-created that experience by opening up its own Safari Park at Al Warqa 5.

Divided into different zones, each with its own geographical theme, the park boasts the African village, the Asian village, and Al Wadi. It was an unmissable opportunity, so during our visit to Dubai, we decided to drop it a visit and see if it was actually worth the hype.

Through our experience, we were able to create a guide that includes everything, from prices to dos and don’ts.

Knowing that it’s a massive park of 119 hectares , it’s easy to get overwhelmed and feel like you have to get up early and arrive at 10 a.m. to visit the entire area, especially knowing that the park closes at 5 p.m.

On visiting the park, we found out that even if you arrive at 1 p.m., you’ll be able to visit the entire park before the clock strikes 5. Arriving at the entrance, we headed to the ticket counter, where a large glass-paneled display showcased four different packages to choose from.

We went for the 90-Dirham Safari Journey Package, which is probably the best option to truly experience the entire park. It has the actual replicated 35-minute safari bus tour as well as a 10-minute open bus Arabian desert safari experience. Along with that, you get free bus transportation to the entire park and its zones instead of having to walk.

African Village

Home to more than 3,000 animals, Dubai Safari Park is the perfect way to meet all the animals and learn new information about each one.

Across the park, the African village is a must-go-to, as it’s the biggest and has lots of animals, from lions to hippos, elephants, and giraffes.

At a typical zoo, there are square plaques in front of each cage with dense and boring information about the animals inside. Dubai Safari Park takes that boring technique and throws it out the window. Instead, you’ll find cool, interactive displays throughout the park.

For example, at the Chimpanzee House, they have a cool display of life-sized replicas of the hands of each type of ape, including gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans.

Guests get to place their hands on the replicated counterparts to compare their size to that of the monkeys. Turns out, the hands of the chimpanzee are very similar to our own.

Now, let’s take a journey to our next stop: Explorer Village, home to the safari journey experience.

Safari Journey

Unlike animal safaris in Africa, where the tour is usually done in an open-aired jeep, in Dubai, you get the safari experience in the comfort of a bus with expansive glass windows for a full view of the animals.

This wasn’t just any bus, as throughout the 35-minute trip, it was close to the animals to the point where a tiger was right below us, and we could see the minute details of each of its large black stripes.

In addition to being so close to animals, such as getting an up-close look at a lion’s gaping mouth and teeth as he took a massive yawn while perched on a rock, we got to learn cool nuggets of information from the guide sitting at the front of the bus.

She taught us about animals as we passed through more than 25 zones and got to see everything from crocodiles, buffalos, lions, tigers, and hippos to rhinos, zebras, baboons, antelopes, hyenas, and giraffes.

Giraffe Feeding

After the safari tour, you’ll find yourself back at Explorer Village. For the adventurous souls, the giraffe feeding zone at the village is a must-do.

Bear in mind you’ll have to pay 15 Dirhams for a pack of 5 peeled carrots to feed the giraffe. Feeding them is quite the experience, as they have elongated purple tongues akin to octopus tentacles that wiggle and move at rapid speeds.

We decided to have fun with the experience by wafting the carrot left and right to tease the giraffe. It was fun seeing it swoop in with its tongue and slurp the entire carrot into its throat in a rapid motion.

For anyone who loves farm animals, this is the place to go since you’ll get to touch and play with cows, donkeys, goats, and chickens. We got to pat a baby cow that had these deep, large black coal eyes, which is an experience we always wanted to try.

Besides the farm, there’s a caged space that’s home to the green parakeet. On entering, you’re given sunflower seeds to feed the green parakeets.

It’s super fun, as you merely reach out to them with an open-faced palm full of seeds, and you’ll find them either plucking them out of your hand or jumping onto your wrist and nibbling on their favorite meal. If you’re lucky, you might find one on top of your head or on your shoulder if they’re feeling extra friendly.

Asia Village

The park is a great experience, and what’s indicative of that is there was only one zone that we felt wasn’t worth the visit: the Asian village. It’s not only small in size, but it also houses 4 animals, all of which you could barely see as they’re pretty inactive, especially the black bear, which was hiding and sleeping behind a massive bridge.

All in all, visiting Dubai Safari Park is a fun, unique, and out-of-the-box experience that can be enjoyed in the city. It’s also a great and interactive way to learn about several animals in a way that’s not boring and overtly educational.
