Making the Most of Your Star Tours Experience

So, you’re all set to embark on a galactic journey with Star Tours?

But before you strap in and set your coordinates for a galaxy far, far away, let’s ensure you’re equipped with some essential tips to maximize your experience.

Genie+: Your Galactic Guide to Expedited Adventure

Ever heard the saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun”?

Well, at Disneyland, time can sometimes crawl, especially when you’re eagerly waiting in line. Enter the Genie+!

This innovative tool is your best bet to bypass those winding queues.

By securing a Genie+ reservation, you not only reduce your wait time but also get more time to explore other wonders of Tomorrowland.

And remember, while the star tours height requirement is essential, so is making the most of your time!

Navigating the Cosmic Tumbles: Motion Sickness Tips

For those of you with a penchant for feeling a tad queasy with sudden motions, fret not!

Star Tours is a thrilling ride, but it’s also considerate.

If you’re prone to motion sickness, consider asking a Cast Member to seat you in the middle, where the motion is a smidge gentler.

And hey, there’s no harm in keeping your eyes closed during the more tumultuous parts of the journey.

After all, space travel can be unpredictable!

Seating and Safety: Ensuring a Smooth Ride

Safety is paramount, whether you’re on Earth or navigating the Star Wars galaxy.

The ride features a cozy motion simulator room with several rows, ensuring everyone gets a front-row experience of the action.

Each seat is equipped with a seatbelt, ensuring you’re snug and secure as you zoom through space.

And while the star tours height requirement is a key aspect, the seating arrangements ensure everyone, tall or short, gets an immersive experience.

Enhancing the Ride Experience

Embarking on the Star Tours journey is already an exhilarating experience, but there are a few tidbits and tricks to elevate your adventure even further.

Let’s dive in!

1. Optimal Seating for a Stellar Voyage

You might be wondering, where’s the best spot to sit for the least tumultuous ride?

If you’re someone who prefers a gentler experience, consider asking a Cast Member to seat you smack dab in the middle.

This sweet spot offers a tad less motion, ensuring you enjoy the galactic vistas without too much jostling.

2. 3D Glasses: A Portal to Another Dimension

Ah, the magic of 3D glasses!

They transform the ride into a multi-dimensional experience, bringing the Star Wars universe to life right before your eyes.

If you wear prescription glasses, simply slip the 3D ones over them.

But here’s a nifty tip for the young Padawans: the glasses might be a smidge too big for their tiny faces.

No worries!

They can either perch them on their noses, tilting them forward, or simply opt not to wear them.

After all, the Star Wars universe is just as mesmerizing in 2D!

3. Rider Swap: Ensuring Everyone Gets a Turn

Got little ones who don’t meet the star tours height requirement?

No need to fret or miss out on the fun! Disneyland offers a “Rider Swap” option.

Here’s how it works: if two adults are with a child who isn’t tall enough for the ride, one adult can enjoy the ride while the other waits with the child.

Once the first adult returns, they swap places, allowing the second adult to experience the ride without waiting in line again.

Just inform the Cast Member in the loading area about your intention to use this option, and they’ll guide you through the process.

Star Tours Fun Facts and Trivia

Diving into the Star Tours experience is like plunging into a treasure trove of Star Wars lore.

But did you know there are hidden gems and Easter eggs sprinkled throughout the ride?

Let’s uncover some of these delightful secrets!

Egroeg Sacul: A Familiar Name, Perhaps?

While waiting in line, you might hear an overhead speaker paging “Egroeg Sacul.” Sounds peculiar, doesn’t it?

Well, here’s a fun twist: it’s “George Lucas” spelled backward! A cheeky nod to the mastermind behind the Star Wars universe.

Lucas’s Legacy Beyond Star Wars

As you immerse yourself in the Star Tours ambiance, keep an ear out for an announcement about landspeeder THX 1138.

This isn’t just a random sequence of letters and numbers.

It’s a homage to George Lucas’s first film, “ THX 1138 .”

And if you’re a true Lucas aficionado, you might recognize it as the license plate number in “American Graffiti” and the call sign of a stormtrooper in “Star Wars: A New Hope.”

Behind the Scenes: The Tech Magic

Ever wondered how the ride feels so incredibly real?

The flight simulator technology that powers Star Tours is the same one used to train airplane pilots.

So, while you’re marveling at the star tours height requirement and other aspects, remember there’s some serious tech wizardry at play to give you that authentic galactic experience.

How tall do you have to be for Star Tours?

You need to be at least 40 inches (102 cm) tall to ride Star Tours.

Does Star Tours still exist?

In 1986 Disney and George Lucas, the creator of  Star Wars , partnered on the Captain EO attraction, a 3-D musical film starring Michael Jackson at Disneyland. Since the partnership was so successful Disney then approached Lucas with the idea for Star Tours.

The original Star Tours ride opened on January 9, 1987 in California’s Disneyland. Two years later, Star Tours opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, then known as Disney’s MGM Studios.

Set in the  Star Wars  universe, the motion simulator attraction sent guests on a tour to Endor, where they got caught in an altercation between the New Republic and an Imperial Remnant. The attraction featured Captain “Rex” RX-24 along with series regulars R2-D2 and C-3PO.

In 1998, Disney began planning to upgrade Star Tours as part of the release of the upcoming 1999 film  Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace , the first film of the new prequel trilogy.

This version would be in 3D and feature new flights. However, since more films for the franchise were in pre-production, officials chose to wait until 2003 when production began on  Revenge of the Sith  before remodeling Star Tours.

In April 2005, at  Star Wars  Celebration III, creator George Lucas confirmed that a revamp of Star Tours was in production. Then at the 2009 D23 Expo it was announced that Star Tours at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios would close in October 2010 for renovations.

The rides would reopen in May and June 2011 as Star Tours – The Adventures Continue.

On August 14, 2010, Hollywood Studios hosted the “Last Tour To Endor” event for Celebration V attendees. This extravaganza included an appearance by George Lucas, character appearances, Jedi Training Academy, Death Star Disco,  Raiders Of The Lost Jedi Temple of Doom: A Fan Film of Epic Proportions  live show, Hyperspace Hoopla, and  Symphony in the Stars  fireworks.

It also included the Star Tours shutdown ceremony which was a live show with C-3PO, R2-D2, Boba Fett, Darth Vader, as well as a few Stormtroopers, culminating in the official power-down of Star Tours.

The ride remained open until September 7, 2010, when the attraction held its “Final Flight to Endor” for D23 members.

In Orlando, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue began soft openings on May 14, 2011, with the official opening held at midnight on May 20, 2011.

Since its opening, the planet Jakku from  The Force Awakens  has been added to the attraction as well as the planet Crait from  The Last Jedi  and Batuu, from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Finally, the ocean moon Kef Bir from  The Rise of Skywalker  was added on December 20, 2019, the film’s release date.

In 2023, Disney announced at Destination D23 that Ahoska would be added to Star Tours in spring 2024 .

Other Fun Details

  • Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is inspired by all nine films of the Star Wars Skywalker saga: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Episode IV – A New Hope, Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, Empire VI – Return of the Jedi, Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, and Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker .
  • There are Star Tours attractions at four different Disney Parks around the world: Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland in California.

at at outside star tours

  • The exteriors of all four Star Tours attractions are different in their respective parks. The attraction in Florida is inspired by an Ewok village on the forest moon of Endor.
  • Listen closely just before boarding your spaceship. You may hear a reference to THX1138. THX1138 was in all of the Star Wars movies because it was the name of George Lucas’ first movie, so he included it in all of the Star Wars films as a nod to his origin.
  • Other boarding call announcements in the first area of the indoor wait queue gives names that are actually anagrams for people like  Star Wars  creator George Lucas (“Egroeg Sacul”) and Tom Morrow (“Mot Worrom”). When you reach the baggage check area, many different Disney attractions and franchises like Haunted Mansion ,  Toy Story, Aladdin, WALL-E, The Incredibles , and  Captain EO get cameos as G2-9T scans boarding IDs.
  • Paul Reubens, perhaps better known for his famous character, Pee Wee Herman, was actually the voice of Captain RX-24 (Rex) in the original Star Tours ride. He was the pilot talking as R2-D2 was being loaded. In the new version of the ride, you can see him in the droid maintenance section in the queue.

c3p0 on star tours

  • Patrick Warburton, who is known for delivering the safety spiel before boarding Soarin’ at Epcot and for also voicing Kronk in Emperor’s New Groove , is the voice of security officer G2-4Ton Star Tours — The Adventures Continue. You can spot him as you pass through a series of security scanners.
  • As part of the attraction, you’ll see scenes with archival footage of Princess Leia, played by Carrie Fisher. The dialogue, however, is re-recorded. Carrie Fisher collaborated with Imagineers to re-record her dialogue so that it fits the attraction seamlessly.
  • While the original Star Tours ride didn’t open until 1989, Imagineers originally had an idea for a simulator ride themed to another Disney movie. The 1979 live-action film  The Black Hole  followed astronauts investigating a mysterious spaceship inside a black hole, but it was a commercial flop. This, combined with the high costs for the planned ride, led to the concept being scrapped. It wasn’t until Disney partnered with George Lucas and Lucasfilm in 1986, that the simulator idea was revisited, this time with Star Wars in mind.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continues (A Resorts Gal Attraction Guide)

Star Tours-The Adventure Continues is a 3D motion simulator attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Walt Disney World. The ride features characters in the form of audio-animatronics and virtual on-screen appearances. This attraction was the first representation of Star Wars in Disney Parks. The Walt Disney World version originally opened in 1989. Below, we’ll discuss height requirements, tips, and need-to-know information for experiencing the ride on your next visit.

New in 2024: New adventures debuted for Star Tours. Here is a portion of the announcement from Disney.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue will be taking you on some all-new adventures. These new additions will feature characters and locations from some of your favorite Disney+ new series – “Ahsoka,” “Andor,” and “The Mandalorian.” With these additions, you’ll now have an opportunity to experience one of more than 250 storyline variations aboard the attraction ,  including a visit to the planet Seatos from the Ahsoka series. Urgent transmissions from Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor ,  Din Djarin, and Grogu may soon be part of your next Starspeeder flight. These iconic characters will continue to add to the galaxy of stories aboard Disney’s first Star Wars attraction.

Additional Info:

Guests must transfer to a wheelchair and then to a ride vehicle. Hand-held captioning and video captioning are available. Service animals are not permitted.

Ride Review

Star Tours, The Adventure Continues is a simulated ride where the theater moves in addition to 3D effects on the screen ahead of you. The movement is a bit jerky. However, this ride is relatively mild in comparison to most thrill attractions.

The attraction’s entrance is located toward the back of the Echo Lake area before you reach Grand Avenue. Star Tours offers a stand-by entrance and a Lightning Lane.

Star Tours Entrance with Stand-by and Lightning Lanes

Beyond the queue, a giant AT-AT Walker towers above. The outdoor portion of the queue has several other elements. You might notice the former stage for Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple sits to the left of the entrance. It was one of the most immersive experiences dedicated to young padawans (children) at Walt Disney World. Unfortunately, that experience ended some time ago. It was the kind of attraction that brought repeat visitors and left lingering memories for those lucky enough to experience it. As Yoda might say, “Sad it is, closed.”

Jedi Training Stage

As you make your way through the queue, you’ll likely notice that it’s an Ewok village. It’s an elaborate queue that’s often overlooked when the line doesn’t extend outside. If you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ll want to take your time and check out the queue elements along the way. It’s completely fine to let others pass you.

The Star Tours exterior queue that features treehouses for the Ewoks.

A few warnings are posted at the attraction’s entrance and throughout the queue. They read: Star Tours is a highly turbulent simulator-type thrill ride through space that includes sharp turns and sudden drops. Warning! For safety, you should be in good health and free from blood pressure, heart, back, or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride. Then, it goes on to cover the height requirements and mobility access we’ve already discussed in the chart above.

Warning sign that says Star Tours is a highly turbulent ride and continues with other warnings.

Inside the queue, you’ll run into R2D2 (the best bot) and C-3PO. R2D2 is piloting the Starspeeder 1000, which we will soon board to visit a surprise destination in the Star Wars universe. I say surprise because you never know what mission you’re going to get when you board the ride.

R2D2 in the Star Tours Queue

Once you reach the top of the queue, a cast member will direct you to the left or the right. It doesn’t matter which of the six flights you board. They are all identical and play random scenes.

You’ll pick up a pair of 3D glasses. These must be worn in order to get a clear view of the screen.

Another cast member will assign your group to a row or rows if you have a large group. Each row seats up to seven guests.

The loading area with five rows in front of red doors where guests wait to ride Star Tours.

While you’re waiting, a pre-show video plays overhead. It features actors dressed in Star Wars-esque attire, demonstrating how to board the attraction. They ask that guests store all loose items in the cargo underneath the seat.

A pre-show is playing that tells guests what to do when they ride Star Tours.

When the doors open, you’ll see guests ahead of you exiting. As the row clears, you’ll move ahead and take your seat. Then, you’ll fasten the seatbelt, which goes from your right side to your left, similar to a car. You may notice a yellow strap next to the seatbelt. When everyone is seated, a cast member will ask everyone to pull the yellow strap. They will check each row to make sure everyone is secured.

The theater with seats where guests are leaving Star Tours and new riders are enterting.

After that, the doors close, and the theater darkens. C-3PO sits to the right of the screen. He remains in character, adding to the suspense of the ride. Soon, a transmission comes in from the First Order. They are looking for a rebel spy. An image pops up on the screen. This is a surprise element, and the image is of someone who’s on board your ship. As the audience realizes this, everyone begins to look around and identify the rebel spy. It’s apparent they are on board, and you suddenly have “A very bad feeling about this.”

Thankfully, the bots piloting the ship realize it, too, and you’re off on a new adventure in a galaxy far, far away as you jump into light speed. Who knows where you will end up, but I can assure you it will be an adventure.

In addition to the new characters debuting this year, you might encounter any of the following while experiencing Star Tours: Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, Boba Fett, Poe Dameron, Princess Leia, or Jedi Master Yoda.

After the ride, you’ll need to dispose of your 3D viewing glasses in one of the bins. After exiting the theater, you walk through a Star Wars gift shop, Tatooine Traders. This is a popular store that offers guests the opportunity to build their own lightsabers or droids. However, this is not the same experience or products as Savi’s Workshop or Droid Depot in Galaxye’s Edge, which often require reservations.

Will I get motion sickness on Star Tours?

If you are prone to motion sickness, it is a possibility. But for most, I would say this attraction is mild. For example, I don’t care for the gravitational pull of a ride like Mission: SPACE at Epcot . However, I have ridden Star Tours many times over the years without any trouble.

The ride is bumpy, and sometimes, the jerky movements feel a little rough. I would describe them as similar to a plane not so gracefully touching down on the tarmac. Make sure to secure any belongings in the netting underneath your seat. Even if you carry a large backpack, it should fit into the compartment storage.

The Resorts Gal Spin on Star Tours–The Adventure Continues

This is a tough call, but we’re going to give Star Tours the red light. Usually, you can experience Star Tours with little to no wait throughout most of the late afternoon into the evening. But we would give pause if we encountered more than a 30-minute wait. Some will also want to consider whether or not this attraction might bother them.

Our traffic signals:

Green Light:

This is an attraction that you must do regardless of the wait. Or it’s an attraction that we deem suitable to experience anytime.

We recommend stopping to check the posted wait times and making a quick judgment call on whether or not to wait.

Average Wait Times:  Star Tours can experience variable wait times depending on the day and season. During peak hours, wait times can range from 30 minutes to over an hour.

Height Requirements:  To board Star Tours, guests must be at least 40 inches tall. This requirement ensures the safety and comfort of all riders, as the motion simulator involves dynamic movements that may not be suitable for younger or smaller guests.

Single Rider:  Single Rider is available on this attraction.

Ride Duration:  The total experience, from pre-show to the end of the ride, typically lasts around 20 minutes. This includes the time spent in the queue, the pre-boarding area, the 3D motion simulator experience, and any additional post-show elements.

Genie+ and Lightning Lane:  Genie+ and Lightning Lane are available for this attraction, which provides expedited access to the ride, reducing wait times for those who opt for this premium service.

Rider Switch:  For families with young padawans who may not meet the height requirement, Disney’s Rider Switch service allows one adult to wait with the non-riding child while the rest of the party experiences the attraction. Afterward, the waiting adult and another guest can switch places without having to wait in line again.

Disability Access Services (DAS):  Disneyland is committed to providing a magical experience for all guests. The Disability Access Service (DAS) program is available for those with disabilities, allowing them to obtain return times for attractions, including Star Tours, based on current wait times.

Best Time to Ride:  Weekdays, especially Tuesdays and Wednesdays, tend to see lower attendance, translating to shorter wait times. Additionally, early mornings and late evenings are opportune moments to visit, as crowds are typically thinner during these times. Check out our crowd calendar for best times to visit!

Speeder in space

I remember the first time I went to Disneyland in 1995. Star Tours was the very first attraction I ever went on, and continued to be a tradition for my family as the first attraction we always went on when we went to Disneyland. Of course, since then, a lot of changes have happened, including a total revamp of the attraction into what it is today.

Star Tours, as I’m sure you’ve gathered, is a Star Wars experience where guests are invited to take a tour from planet to planet aboard a starspeeder. Your job is to simply sit and enjoy the ride as the pilot drives you to your destination. Of course, if this actually happened, it would be the most boring attraction ever. So that’s not what happens!

Star Tours Review

The original Star Tours was the same ride every time you took it. Rex was your pilot, a robot with some quirky flaws and a sense for danger and adventure. After this attraction received its revamp, it became a lot more interesting. Rex the pilot was replaced by C3PO (Rex is now found over in Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge) and what was once the same every time is now available in over 40 different combinations.

Disney teamed up with Lucasfilm for the revamp and decided to make the attraction 3D, with the ability to tell a different story each time. Basically, there are 4 sections that make up your adventure. A beginning scene which determines how you exit the docking bay, a second scene after coming out of light speed, a transmission message from someone and then a final battle scene that concludes with you docking the ship.

Because there are multiple versions of each of these 4 sections, you could see a different adventure each time you board Star Tours. It’s actually quite fun and keeps things interesting. And since Disney purchased Lucasfilm several years back, they continue to add new scenes from the new Star Wars films as they come out.

Star Tours C3PO

One of the cooler things that happened after the revamp is the inclusion of a Star Tours guest into the story each time you ride. Before the attraction begins, a photo is taken of a randomly selected guest, who is then inserted into the story as a Rebel Spy. They very lightly become the focus of the mission (or some missions) as Star Tours races to deliver the spy safely.

I’ve been the Rebel Spy twice in all my years of riding, and it’s actually pretty fun. They even have a tee-shirt that you can purchase in the shop afterward that says, “I am the Rebel Spy,” or something along those lines.

So here’s what you can expect when you ride Star Tours at Disneyland Park: There are three lines available for this attractions. First is the standby line, which I can’t describe very well at the beginning because I’ve never waited in it. You can expect to wait about 30-45 minutes in this line before being boarded.

The second line is Lightning Lane (LL) and that takes you directly into the main building and past the standby line but through all the same rooms.

The LL line typically takes you right into the second room before you come to a stop, so there’s a decent amount of line that you skip. You can expect to wait about 10-15 minutes before boarding.

The third line is a Single Rider line that they added in 2019. It basically does the same thing as the other 2 lines but it usually much faster. Keep in mind that you’re typically separated from your party when loaded at the gates, though this attraction gives you a better chance of being loaded with someone in your group than most.

Once you enter the main building, you’ll weave through one room that features a Starspeeder with R2D2 and C3PO.

Star Tours Attraction Review

You’ll then take a ramp into a second room, where you’ll be entertained by 2 robots, both voiced by the ever-talented Patrick Warburton. From here you’ll be boarded into different gates based on the number of people in your group. Once you arrive at your gate you’ll also be boarded into rows, again, based on the number of people in your group.

You’ll stand here for a little while and watch a video on what’s going on in the hangar as you wait for your Starspeeder to arrive. You’ll also be given some instructions. Once it’s your turn to board, the doors in front of you will open, and you’ll enter the ship and take your seat. Store all your backpacks and jackets under the seat, put your seatbelt on and prepare for a seatbelt check with a Cast Member.

Star Tours Disneyland

Once the seatbelt check is completed, you’ll be advised to put your flight glasses on. The room will go dark after a few seconds, and then the ride begins! C3PO has no idea what’s going on, and you’re about to get into a whole lot of trouble and fun. Since each experience is different, I won’t describe them, but you’ll have fun not matter what.

This is a simulation attraction that has 3D glasses and moves up and down and side to side. If you are prone to motion sickness, you may want to skip riding or take some medicine beforehand.

When your ride is over, you’ll remove your seatbelt and exit the ship. Be sure to turn in your flight glasses and enjoy some Star Wars shopping!

Here’s a video of one of my last experiences with Star Tours at Disneyland :

  • Star Tours is a Lightning Lane attraction, which I would recommend using early in the morning if you really want to go on it, as spots fill up quickly.
  • If you’re looking for a really fast boarding and don’t mind being split up, use the Single Rider line.
  • If you really want to try and be the rebel spy on your adventure, then try sitting in the very back row, about 3-4 seats in from the exit side of the attraction.
  • This attraction does have a height limit, so make sure you plan accordingly with smaller children. Use the Rider Switch if needed.

When Star Tours originally opened at Disney World in 1989, it offered guests a chance to take a space-tour to the Forest Moon of Endor. Helmed by your first-time pilot Rex, your Starspeeder takes a detour into an epic battle with a Star Destroyer. The motion simulator ride offered thrills for Star Wars fanatics like myself, but it definitely showed its age in the last years of the original iteration.

In 2011, Star Tours was replaced by  Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.  Set in between Episodes III and IV, this new iteration of Star Tours has been renovated, retooled, and reimagined, resulting in one of the  most thrilling and satisfying attractions in all of Walt Disney World . The ride system has been updated with state of the art motion simulation and jaw-dropping HD 3-D visuals. These are some of the best 3-D visuals I’ve ever seen, both in a theme park and in the movie theatre.

This time, C-3PO is your pilot on this ride that spans the galaxy. Star Tours features a unique randomization system that combines 2 different intros, 3 first destinations, 3 messages from iconic Star Wars characters, and 3 finales into one of 54 unique combinations. That makes Star Tours one of the best Walt Disney World rides for repeat visits.

The stunning visuals, thrilling motion simulation, and varying adventures offered by Star Tours: The Adventures Continue makes this easily one of the best rides at Hollywood Studios and all of Disney World. It gave me that rare experience of being transported back to when I was a Star Wars loving kid, riding Star Tours for the first time.

  • This ride is not the roughest when it comes to motion simulators, but be aware that this ride does shake and includes 3D visuals. If you suffer from motion sickness, please take this into account if you are thinking about going on this ride.

If the little ones aren’t quite tall enough for the rides that they are really looking forward to, then it can be something to look forward to as they grow taller.

Hollywood Studios Height Requirements FAQ

Here is a list of some of the more common questions that arise with Hollywood Studios’ height requirements. If there are any more questions that you have, always feel free to reach out.

Planning a trip to Walt Disney World doesn’t have to be difficult! Take the stress out of planning your Walt Disney World trip and hire me! I am a certified Disney Destinations Specialist and Travel agent! Email for more details!

How tall do you have to be for Hollywood studios?

There isn’t a set height that guests have to be at in order to enter the park. There are rides and attractions for guests of all ages and heights.

However, if you don’t want to have to worry about any type of height requirements, then wait until children are at least 48″ (122 cm).

What rides at Disney require 48 inches?

At Hollywood Studios, there is only one attraction that requires guests to be 48″ (122 cm) tall. And that is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith . Which is more of a thrill-ride experience for guests.

What rides at Hollywood studios have no height requirement?

There are very few rides at Hollywood Studios that don’t have any type of height requirement. They are as follows; Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Toy Story Mania!

The other attractions that don’t have any height requirements are shows and characters.

What is the best age for Hollywood studios?

Hollywood Studios is definitely a park that I wouldn’t fully recommend for young toddlers. Where there are a few fun things that they would enjoy, Hollywood Studios is really geared towards older and taller guests.

With that being said, I personally would say that the best age for Hollywood Studios would be ages 8 and above. That way they can enjoy pretty much everything at the park, from rides to attractions.

Is Hollywood Studios fun for a 5-year-old?

There certainly are quite a lot of things that a 5-year-old can do at Hollywood Studios. They should be tall enough to go on almost all of the rides.

However, Hollywood Studios might not be as fun as Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. Keep that in mind as you explore the map for Hollywood Studios.

The Wrap Up: Hollywood Studios Height Requirements

Hollywood Studios is a unique Disney World park that is designed to be similar to a Hollywood set. This is partly why there are few actual rides, and many shows, and characters to meet.

Because Hollywood Studios doesn’t have very many rides that don’t have any height requirements, it is important to know what they are so you are able to make the most of your trip.

But keep in mind, even with the height requirements, there is still a lot of fun to be had for the whole family.

Parent Snaps at Cast Member, Insists Height Requirement Is Unnecessary

in Disneyland Resort , Walt Disney World

A large gray robot towers above the trees next to Star Tours.

Disney Cast Members create magical memories that last a lifetime. But they also work incredibly hard to keep Guests safe during world-class Disney Parks attractions and performances!

Sydney (@squidbender), a former Disney Cast Member, shares stories on TikTok from her time working for the Mouse. While most commenters thank her for her unique perspective on the Most Magical and Happiest places on earth, others take out their frustration with the Disney Parks on her.

star tours droids, red and orange.

Recently, Sydney made a video about the importance of Guests following safety requirements at Star Tours. A parent snapped at her that there is “no safety-based reason for a height requirement” at Star Tours and argued that they wanted their small child to be allowed on. Sydney kindly but firmly told the parent how they’d be putting their child at risk:

@squidbender Replying to @tomb8310 i cannot believe some people 😭 #disney #disneyworld #castmember #excastmember #storytime #disneyland #starwars #fyp #karen ♬ original sound – ☾ sydney ☽

“Do you think that Disney has height requirements just because they feel like it?” Sydney asked rhetorically.

“A lot of the reason is because certain rides, they move a certain way, and smaller bodies can’t handle that type of movement,” she explained. “They do a lot… of testing to determine height requirements.”

C3PO and Darth Vader on Star Tours.

“Obviously, you don’t want a one-year-old on a ride like Star Tours that moves and jolts you around so much that people, adults get motion sick and vomit all the time,” Sydney continued. “Their little bodies can’t handle that.”

“Unless you were there for Imagineering testing, I don’t know how you could determine whether or not it was safe for children to be on a ride,” she concluded.

More on Star Tours

A blue-glowing sign that reads STAR TOURS.

Before Planet Batuu landed at the Disney Parks with  Star Wars:  Galaxy’s Edge , there was Star Tours. Over a decade ago, the classic attraction was updated to Star Tours – The Adventure Continues at Disneyland Park (Disneyland Resort), Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Walt Disney World Resort), Tokyo Disneyland (Tokyo Disney Resort), and Disneyland Park (Disneyland Paris). Updates continue to be made as Lucasfilm releases more movies and television shows!

“Make the jump to hyperspace on a thrilling 3D space flight to legendary destinations from the  Star Wars saga,” reads the official Disney description of the simulator ride. “Your adventure may take you face-to-face with First Order villain Kylo Ren, menacing bounty hunter Boba Fett, ace pilot Poe Dameron, Princess Leia or Jedi Master Yoda—plus many more.”

Please follow all Disney Cast Member instructions when visiting Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

Please note that the story outlined in this article is based on a personal Disney Parks Guest experience. No two Guest experiences are alike, and this article does not necessarily align with Inside the Magic’s personal views on Disney Park operations.

Star City Tour

Star City Tour

In 1961, at the height of the space race between the U.S. and the USSR, a secret closed city was built to the north from Moscow to train Russian cosmonauts. It was here that the famous Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, was trained! Many other famous Russian cosmonauts were trained here together with Gagarin: German Titov, Valentina Tereshkova, the first female cosmonaut, and Alexei Leonov. The best facilities were built for them: the world's largest centrifuge and hydro laboratory. Moscow Free Tour will provide you with a unique opportunity to get into the closed Star City, learn its history and see the simulators Russian cosmonauts use. On our Star City Tour you will see:

  • Models of Russian spacecraft "Soyuz"
  • Hydro laboratory, with the model of the International Space Station in water, which allows to simulate the weightlessness
  • Centrifuge with a radius of 18 meters, the largest in the world

"A very enjoybale day in Moscow. We had a very nice and knowledgeable guide Anastasia.(Nastia) She was very passionate about the City and we learnt so much in our brief four hours walk with her! Certainly this walking tour added a lot of value to our Moscow Holiday. A great idea to educate visitors about Russia and Moscow. The group was intimate enough to ask questions and stop for snacks etc..we thoriughly enjoyed it and would highly reccomend it.Carry on doing a great job!"

"I really enjoyed the tour, it was a great experience, very informative and fun. I will definitely tell everybody about that tour, keep it it is a fantastic idea!"

"Sorry I do not remember the names :( ... They were very talkative and very into everything. I think they both really love the city, and they made me feel like this to. They knew much about History, which was very informative! Great guides!!!"

"We partook of the fantastic Petersburg Free Tour. Due to our timing during the low season (shockingly not everyone is flocking to Moscow while the average temperature is 15F), it ended up being just us and Sonia, the afore-mentioned super-guide. She quickly ascertained the limited scope of our wanderings.."
