The show for Highly Suspect at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas was Amazing!! I flew in from Louisville, Ky. just for these guys, because they put on a very worthy show every single time!! I was thrilled to see Rich Meyer (Bass) & Ryan Meyer (Drums) crowd surfing during the show, it always brings smiles over the crowd. Johnny Stevens (Lead guitar/ Vocals) loves his fans, he is always willing to do whatever it takes to ignite the room. I've seen them 11 times now, and this NEVER gets old!! MCID= My Crew is Dope is the Best way to explain them!!

Johnny Stevens is, hands down... all up and down, the very best thing to happen to music!

The band’s diversity is exactly what I never knew, I always wanted.

Hand to God, I listen to an extremely wide variety of music - gospel/bluegrass to Pantera, Otis Redding or Taj Mahal to Odesza- obsessed with UGK and Santana, all the way to Sade and even with that obtuse appreciation of every genre under the sun, I’ve lost some excitement with the 5,000 songs in my iTunes library.

Motown to Country Classics then to big haired headbangers followed by gangsta rap and I was not feeling the soul touching, spirit awakening like I once had.

Most of what’s played on the radio makes me want to hit something with my car, vomit and die. I swear to God, Beyoncé could be used for torture tactics and Taylor Swift has 46 identical, unimaginative hits and I cannot stomach the nonsense of Kanye West and all his boiz talkin’ ‘bout hoes and cars and fat stacks of cash big as their bitches ass, any more!

Highly Suspect wedged their way into my life, with much apprehension, I’m highly suspect of any mainstream, hipsteresque conformist bullshit and it seemed that way to me at first listen, but somewhere in the halfhearted chance I gave them... I was revived! It may sound crazy to give this much heart and soul into a review of such a young band but it’s nothing short of genius- mad genius.

Their style is old and psychedelic yet new age and electronic. It’s distorted and acustic while seamless and chaotic. It’s precise and handsomely in place but somehow full of raging anger and disgust with many issues we all face.

Each song is so multifaceted, it seems one could be three but no matter what genres or point in time Johnny Stevens starts a song, remember that most will take you on a journey through several.

I recommend you open up your mind and heart to full capacity and enjoy the majestic ride and all it’s twists and turns!

They write all their own music and I listen to their albums in their entirety without ever feeling bored or wondering if the track has changed- it’s so rare and it’s so refreshing.

Johnny (I REFUSE TO REFER TO HIM AS, TERRIBLE JOHNNY) has an old soul that shines through in his sung convictions. He will appeal to the young and old in a way never seen before!

Highly Suspect Book Fall 2017 U.S. Tour, Early 2018 European Dates

They were the boys who toured "wolf." Highly Suspect 's current tour schedule just got significantly longer with the announcement of a fall 2017 U.S. tour, which will be followed in early 2018 by a European trek.

The band is currently in the midst of their summer tour, which includes a date at Lollapalooza. The fall trek kicks off a little before the season on Sept. 2 at Seattle's Bumbershoot festival. They'll also turn up at the Spaceland Block Party and Aftershock Festival in the coming months during the fall run.

Highly Suspect are riding a high thanks to their current album The Boy Who Died Wolf . The disc debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Rock Album chart and has spent 22 weeks on the Billboard charts in total. Their current single "Little One" has been climbing the charts, following on the heels of their chart-topping track "My Name Is Human," which also received a Grammy nomination.

Highly Suspect will be on tour stateside through their Oct. 21 set at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento. They then get a well deserved break heading into the holiday season before ramping up the touring machine again in January, starting a European trek Jan. 31 in Norwich. Ryan Meyer – Highly Suspect ‘Back From A Break from The Public’

Highly Suspect are coming back!

It’s been a hot minute since they last hit Australian shores and hot off the heels of their European tour and latest album release Midnight Demon Club , the Cape Cod crew are more popular than ever and it’s not hard to see why. The group’s Australian and New Zealand shows selling out right left and centre plus a couple of venue upgrades since the announcement – it is set to be a tour to remember.

With just days to go before the band’s epic tour commences, we had a chat with Ryan Meyer (resident drummer and backing vocals) about all things Highly Suspect !

This is your first visit to Australia in a while. Is there anything in particular you are looking forward to seeing or doing while you are here?

This is our first time visiting Australia in a very long time! I think the last time was 2016 or 2017. Either way, we are very excited to come over to your side of the planet! My favorite thing to do when travelling to different countries is trying traditional meals. You can learn a lot about a culture just from the food alone. Plus, I eat… all the time. Maybe it’s a drummer thing.

You’ve had a bit of a break over the last few years. What has the band been up to during that time?

What may have seemed like a break was actually just a break from the public. I think the excitement from the first two albums was a lot for us to handle, and then Covid happened. We were ready to step out of the limelight but we never really stopped working! We’ve been on tour all year long, and we even made a record over the summer in LA. One that we are very very excited about.

What was the album about? Were there any particular themes that you were trying to get across or anything in particular that sort of inspired you?

When we made Midnight Demon Club, we had no idea if touring would ever come back! We made the album in the middle of the pandemic. We took a chance, figuring the old way of life was dead, and instead of making songs for the stage we made songs for movies. Telling of those times huh? I personally had a couple of surgeries, as drummers do, so I couldn’t actually write on the drums. Instead, I learned how to program drums and had a lot of fun learning and exploring that whole new world.

I loved the whole album, although my favourites were ‘Need to Say’, ‘The Sound’, ‘Caught on Fire’, ‘Midnight Demon Club’, ‘Love Like This’ and ‘Natural Born Killer’. So pretty much the whole album! What was your favourite song on the album? 

First of all, thank you! I also really like those songs and they mean a lot. My favorite song of the album is ‘Evangeline’. The sound clip in the beginning of the song is our old friend Kyle who is drunk and playing guitar for Rich. I’m not sure how it happened but we decided to take the chords he was using and made a song. What we ended up with, I definitely didn’t expect it, but I love it so much.

For me, the new album had all the feels. It had that familiar ‘hit you where it’s deep’ punchy vibe to it that your previous albums had. The kind of music that seems to just really get you. I love it when bands release new music – you can see the growth or progression, but still enough of that familiar sound that you love so much. How do you feel about how the band has progressed and grown? What are your thoughts on that?

Honestly, this band has been through a lot. Internal struggles, ups and downs and confusion forced us to try new things. It made us realize we can play any style of music we want and we had to make those albums to know that. After our experience with those two albums, we realized all we really wanted to do was make music that was true to us as a group of artists. So that’s exactly what we did over the summer! From start to finish, we made an album in one room from writing to production. Even though it’s not complete or out yet, we’ll definitely be playing some very new music for Australia.

Have you ever had a track make it to TV/movie, or is there one you would love to hear one of your songs on?

We actually had some pretty good luck getting our music into TV films and video games. Kevin James used ‘Natural Born Killer’ in his newest special! I would love to have a song in a Marvel movie and always dreamed of having songs in a 007 movie.

For the fans out there – what is a fun fact or something about your band that your fans might not know but want to know?

Well for those who don’t know we’ve grown as a band since the last time we saw you. There are five of us now and our new members Matt Kofos and Mark Schwartz add so much to the sound. It’s still the same, just bigger and better.

What’s next for the band? Are you working on some more new music or more tours?

We’re touring in Europe right now and trying to finish the production and mixing elements of a new album. Hopefully we’ll put it out sometime next year! We also plan to return to Australia and New Zealand sooner rather than later next year.

Highly Suspect announces new album + shares new single “Summertime Voodoo”

Highly Suspect has announced that they will be releasing their new album, As Above, So Below , on July 19th via Roadrunner/300/Elektra Records.

Already known for defying conventions and embracing their own sonic instincts, As Above, So Below promises to continue the band’s tradition of pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo within the rock genre. With the album, Highly Suspect invites listeners on a sonic journey that blends their trademark gritty guitars, haunting piano melodies, and off-kilter synths with a newfound sense of introspection and exploration. 

To celebrate the news of the upcoming  As Above, So Below , Highly Suspect also has shared its first single, “Summertime Voodoo.”

“If my life is a book, then this album is the first chapter that truly addresses the central conflict,” says Johnny Stevens.  “The recognition of an ego, the problems its caused – and the birth of its death. “As Above, So Below.” If I’m being real, I hit rock bottom again. After another close call with death, I feel wide awake. I don’t know how the book ends yet, but I’m very engaged in the plot now. I’d rather it not end at all.

For the past few years I don’t think I gave a shit one way or the other. Like Thom once said – “for a minute there I lost myself.” – “Summertime Voodoo” is the introductory paragraph to this chapter.

We didn’t know which song to put out first, so this time, instead of trying to guess which one sounds most like a single, we just decided it makes the most sense to start at the top of the story.”

To celebrate the news of "As Above, So Below" , HIGHLY SUSPECT is unveiling the first single, "Summertime Voodoo" .

"If my life is a book, then this album is the first chapter that truly addresses the central conflict," says Johnny Stevens . "The recognition of an ego, the problems its caused — and the birth of its death.

"If I'm being real, I hit rock bottom again. After another close call with death, I feel wide awake. I don't know how the book ends yet, but I'm very engaged in the plot now. I'd rather it not end at all.

"For the past few years I don't think I gave a shit one way or the other. Like Thom once said — 'for a minute there I lost myself.' 'Summertime Voodoo' is the introductory paragraph to this chapter.

"We didn't know which song to put out first, so this time, instead of trying to guess which one sounds most like a single, we just decided it makes the most sense to start at the top of the story."

HIGHLY SUSPECT will embark on a select series of tour dates across the United States this summer. These shows promise to be electrifying experiences, as the band will play the entire "As Above, So Below" LP from front to back.

Never content to follow, HIGHLY SUSPECT push rock music forward by trusting their instincts and raising a middle finger to everything else. The multi- Grammy Award -nominated and gold-certified band don't just talk about burning the rules and breaking the mold; they actually do so.

The band's chemically imbalanced mix of gritty guitars, haunting piano, off-kilter synths, hip-hop production, cinematic vision, and beautifully possessed vocals transformed them into a phenomenon beloved by a diehard global fanbase known as "MCID" (My Crew Is Dope). After grinding it out as an underground curiosity, they scraped a path to mainstream infamousness with their 2015 full-length debut, "Mister Asylum" . It earned a Grammy Award nomination in the category of "Best Rock Album" as the single "Lydia" received a nomination for "Best Rock Song" was certified gold by the RIAA .

The 2016 follow-up "The Boy Who Died Wolf" roared to life with the gold-selling "My Name Is Human" , which catapulted to #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and garnered a Grammy nomination for "Best Rock Song." 2019's "MCID" affirmed them as the rare outfit who could collaborate with Young Thug and GOJIRA on the same album. Loudwire hailed the latter among the "50 Best Rock Albums Of 2019."

With hundreds of millions of streams and sold out shows on multiple continents, HIGHLY SUSPECT charged ahead of the pack again on 2022's "The Midnight Demon Club" with no compromises and no apologies as they challenged rock to be dangerous and maybe even life-changing again. Highly Suspect Announce New Album and Summer 2024 US Tour, Unveil “Summertime Voodoo”: Stream

The band will be playing the album in its entirety on a short run of seven intimate gigs

Highly Suspect have announced a new album, As Above, So Below , set to arrive July 19th, along with dates for a brief Summer 2024 US tour.

The outing will hit seven cities and see the band performing the new album in its entirety. Dates kick off July 24th in Memphis, Tennessee, and run through an August 2nd show in Brooklyn, New York. The other cities include St. Louis; Chicago; Flint, Michigan; Detroit; and Asbury Park, New Jersey.

A Live Nation ticket pre-sale for select dates begins Thursday (May 16th) at 10 a.m. local time using the code SOUNDCHECK . General ticket sales start Friday (May 17th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster . Ahead of the new album, Highly Suspect have unveiled the song “Summertime Voodoo,” which doubles as the namesake for the upcoming tour. Here, the band dials back the electronic elements present on its previous LP, adopting a more psych/stoner rock sound that’s complemented by some hazy desert motorcycle cam footage in the music video.

Highly suspect joins bill for muse’s 2023 tour with evanescence.

Muse ‘s 2023 U.S. tour is adding ever more firepower.

In addition to the previously announced Evanescence , Highly Suspect has now also joined the outing. The “My Name Is Human” rockers will be on the bill from April 2 in Phoenix to April 20 in Salt Lake City.

“Couldn’t be more honored to hit the road with our idols,” Highly Suspect writes in an Instagram post. “We are proud to announce that we will be supporting [Muse] and [Evanescence] this spring.”

Muse’s tour with Evanescence launches February 25 in Chicago. Matt Bellamy and company will be supporting their new album,  Will of the People , which features the singles “Won’t Stand Down,” “Compliance” and “You Make Me Feel Like It’s Halloween.” 

Japanese rockers ONE OK ROCK  will open the tour before Highly Suspect hops aboard.

Highly Suspect, meanwhile, just wrapped their own U.S. headlining tour earlier this month behind their new album,  The Midnight Demon Club . Lead single “Natural Born Killer” hit #1 on Billboard ‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.
